Hello! the OC tournament is in the corner so I decided to follow @nintendoni-art's example and create a pinned post about Byte :D! If you have any questions or doubts about Byte, please feel free to send an ask (anonymous or not) and I'll gladly answer!

🛠 Basic Information

Name: Data "Byte" the Goat. Species: Nigerian Dwarf Goat. Height: 88 cms (2'11''). Type: Tech / Flight. Alignment: Evil. Occupation: Programmer & Mechanic. Home: Starline Base Sigma.

✨How did you come up with the OC’s name?

At first, Byte had a very generic name (or at least for the sonic franchise) so I had this small list of possible names for them in case I needed them.

When the moment came, I held a small poll for people to pick their favorite and "Byte" along with "Data" were the most voted for. Since I liked both of them I decided to combine them! And it fits Byte, since a byte is the smallest memory unit that a computer can have and Byte is pretty small (They used to be smaller tho, they were 75 cms)

🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

Byte is currently 25 years old. At the beginning of the story (around when Starline brought Eggman back to his former glory) they were 24, but they age throughout the events.

🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?

Yes! They're in love with Dr. Starline, their boss/partner in crime.

Both are incredibly amoral and they LOVE it, sharing the same vision of the world, the same passion for Eggman and his creations and even the same mentality, which allows them to understand each other quite well. With time they've developed a good harmony and synchronization whenever they're working together, even encouraging each other in the most vile acts and enjoying every second of it.

🍕 - What is their favorite food?

Cookies! They adore them, especially the choco chip cookies.

💼 - What do they do for a living?

They used to be a programmer for the Eggman Empire, but currently they're the assistant and right-hand-man to Dr. Starline. They fulfill any task assigned by the platypus, performs maintenance on Starline's badniks and helps him to program anything he needs. At the same time, Starline is teaching them how to be a mechanic so they can be even more useful.

🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?

Yes! They love drawing, tinkering with machines and robots, designing their own badniks, performing maintenance on robots, creating their own little robots/machines and playing with their chao.

🎯 -What do they do best?

Programming, they're an expert on it, it's what they do best.

🥊 -What do they love? What do they hate?

Likes:

Chocolate and desserts, especially if said desserts are made of chocolate.

Cute small animals and fluffy things.

Color pink.

Messing with people and causing troubles on purpose, it entertains them a lot.

Robots and Robotics, they've always preferred robots over organic beings.

Eggman's personality and creations, they find him fascinating, intelligent and charming.

Starline and anything related to him, they absolutely adore the platypus.

Dislikes:

Oranges and their scent, along with orange flavored things.

Bitter food, they can't stand bitterness. (This includes alcohol and coffee)

Bitter or cranky people.

Vomit or people who are sick, they have phobia for it.

Hot weather, they consider it unbearable and doesn't like to work with that sort of weather.

Loud and sudden noises, they startle and scare them terribly.

Entitled and hypocritical people.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Byte best memory is when they started working for the Eggman Empire. They're really grateful for that, since it improved their life quality. Sure, Eggman is not the friendliest person to work with, but it was fair better than their old life. They got to do what they liked the most, which was working with robots, so it was like a dream come true for them.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Byte's worst memories are from their entire childhood. Living with their parents was a complete nightmare for them, having to enture the constant physical and verbal fights of their parents (in which they tended to get hurt) and their abuse towards them. The only salvage part of their childhood was being friends with Smithy.

🧊 - Is their current design the first one?

Nope! their first design was this one :3c

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

At first, Byte was created to be my sonicsona, so they were inspired by myself, using my physical traits at the moment (short blonde hair, freckles, tan skin and short height), the species of my toonsona (goat), my degree (computer engineer) and turning my personality into a villainous one so they could fit in the Eggman Empire. But as Byte developed, they stopped representing me and became their own independent character!

🌂 - What genre do they belong in?

Sci-fi and Steampunk!

💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

Byte is an agender asexual! (They/she)

🙌 - How many siblings does your OC have?

None, they're only child.

🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like?

Terrible, Byte's parents were awful people who always mistreated them and hurt them emotionally and physically, so they ran away from their home and joined the Eggman Empire. They haven't had contact with their parents ever since.

🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?

What I like the most about Byte is their design, personality and dynamic with Starline. At first I wasn't sure of their design, I was insecure about it even, but eventually it grew on me and I've come to appreciate it.

Their personality has always been super fun to me, I have a soft spot for mischievous villains who have fun causing chaos and enjoy what they do.

And their dynamic with Starline is basically Chaos x Order, which is super fun to play with :D

✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?

Pretty often, they're my main oc LOLOLOLOL

💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?

Not really, if they die, who will bring Starline back? lol

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?

Byte is awfully scared of vomit and loud noises.

🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?

For the longest time, I considered that Lanolin the Sheep and Tangle the Lemur would be Byte's rival, but I'm reworking that, so we'll see who ends up being their rival 👀

Henry thoughts but I feel like my HC for him is so jank in comparison to others bc he's like. Not The robotics guy he doesn't do the engineering despite that actually being a pretty major thing when it comes to canon

And the REASON it's like that is literally just bc my Henry HC is held together with duct tape and hope since I made a lot of it up after just looking at the game lore

But yeah have some Henry (and William) thoughts:

-William handled robotics while Henry made them less nightmare fuel, Henry's talents lended themselves to character design and development. The less involved Henry is the weirder the animatronics get, which is why you can go from something cute like Freddy and Co to some freaks of nature like the human animatronics in SL

-he knows the basics though, he can preform maintenance and repair them fine but he wasn't great at building them from scratch or developing them on his own. He had lots of IDEAS but not the ability to bring them to actualization

-also had a springlocking Incident, ironically due to William's own accident making him worry for the other's safety. Thankfully it was while he was testing the suit for maintenance and not when he was in public and performing

-springlocking messed one of his legs up pretty bad, hence the use of a cane. Decorated it to make it a little more fun looking bc he kinda hated it plain. He can walk without it and preform in fredbear but it'll start hurting pretty bad if he's not careful.

-he very firmly denies having a favorite of William's kids (it is evan. He won't say it but it's evan.)

-trans!! Fat hairy trans man who's content with his body as it is! He got his tits removed but they're still kinda there just because of his build but he doesn't mind, he knows he'd look doofy if he had a fully flat chest.

-him and his wife got along well but they never really loved each other very deeply. Henry never really got over his thing with Will in college and being with his wife never made him feel the same way as that so he kinda just had those feelings on the backburner for like, years, and now he's kinda fucking weird because of it.

-t4t with wife, works out because half the reason either of them got married was they wanted a kid. Henry carried, decided he fucking hated how being pregnant felt, and proceeded to get his whole damn uterus removed as soon as possible after having charlie. She was the light of both their lives though and I don't think they let their own lacking romantic feelings affect how they raised her.

-while he was generally pretty warm and inviting interacting with guests he did not fuck around when it came to the legal and business side of things. Refused to let anything bad happen to his company, it was his child almost as much as his ACTUAL child, hence all the comments about liability and the like that come up throughout basically every game. You will not get him in trouble with your silly little injuries, no sir.

-he always enjoyed drawing springbonnie and fredbear together. Years in the future even after finding out what William did he still doodles them on occasion.

-A solid cook, I think he liked making things and then bringing leftovers over to the aftons

-physical affection above all else, he loves hugs and would pick up the kids in his arms on the regular. Mike got tired of it as he got to his mean teen phase, much to Henry's disappointment.

-got the songs from fredbears stuck in his head all the time, would hum them to himself pretty often

half dragon gives so many different choices of various traits

Lucifer, whose immediate thought upon hearing mc is half dragon, 'please do not be the fire breathing kind I have to clean up enough of everyone else messes as is.' Imagine him finding out they do breathe fire is because they're helping Beel toast marshmallows. And when he tries to scold them, they just give him a toothy smile claiming they have great control over their fire breath and he doesn't need to worry about them burning the place down. Famous last words when a week later they sneeze and set the dining table on fire. He struggles to get too angry with them because they’ve figured out to widen their pupils on purpose and give him the look of a wounded puppy when being scolded.

Mammon, knows the stories about dragons guarding great treasures, so of course he comes up with the theory that mc must have a priceless treasure in their possession that would make him rich. Of course when he first asks them about it, they are aloof and don't even properly answer his question about treasure. "Life's greatest treasures are often found right around us, perhaps you should simply look closer to your surroundings." Eventually mc tells him they were being metaphorical, and even later shows him their treasure stash under their bed. It's just a bunch of shiny things, but Mammon chokes up when he notices a lot of things he's given them among the pile. He has to not talk for a while so he doesn’t cry when they start talking about how everything there is priceless to them regardless of material value.

Leviathan doesn't even realise mc is half dragon under he gets a close up view of some of their scales. And realise that theirs are incredibly shiny, shinier then his are. Which only becomes worse when they show him that their scales can stick up and are sharp enough to be used as weapons. He's jealous. To the point where it takes a while for him to get over it. However he comes around when a neuron activates after he catches them laughing and sees how sharp their fangs are. This after it's discovered their half dragon side gives them a slight superiority complex over humans, "and the poor little worm couldn't even lift up my treasure chest, what an idiot." Levi hasn't been the same since. He'll be their poor little worm, just give him a chance.

Asmodeus spots mc’s unique characteristics from miles away. Slit pupils, and sharp teeth, is that a tail? He’s pieced together what mc might be before they tell him, and upon finding out they’re part dragon he’s surprised as he didn’t expect that. He also finds it really cute when their eyes seem to settle on whatever jewelry he might be wearing that day, and the shinier the piece is the more their pupils seem to expand. He starts using their excitement to gauge whether or not something is too gaudy, “okay so the hairpin draws too much attention away from my face, got it.” Something he also loves is how grateful they are when he gives them accessories, they always talk about treasuring each gift forever and no matter how often he hears it, his heart still melts.

Dragon traits = cat traits. At least that's Satan's opinion on mc's half dragon nature. The first time he sees their pupils dilate widely upon seeing something they like, he's been documenting their different behaviours ever since. Their pupils also change in different light settings, they enjoy napping in warm places, can be incredibly food driven at times and have a tendency to stalk small creatures, like mice. They also have a strong like for causing chaos, which is always funny to watch Lucifer pull his hair out trying to get Belphie and Satan to stop encouraging mc. They also happen to have some ancient books in their possession that he’s coaxing them to let him borrow through trade of shiny things.

“In my opinion that meat tastes best charred.” Is the gateway sentence said by mc, that leads to rabbit hole of bizarre bonding activities between mc and Beelzebub. Which always ends with mc setting something on fire with their fire breath and Beel rating it 1-10 on whether or not it made the food better. Between the pair of them, they can smell a steak within a three mile radius, it is ridiculous. But also Beel is a form of impulse control whenever he and mc are together, because they’ll get a sudden urge to just do something incredibly destructive and Beel will just make a sad face thinking about getting punished by Lucifer. “We’ll get in trouble.” Is all he has to say to make them reconsider being destructive.

Belphie and mc are very alike. mc enjoys napping, specifically during the day and being more active during the night. Belphie, spends most of his time asleep, which means in weird hours of the night the two run into each other a lot. And a lot of the times mc will be sneaking around looking like they’re doing something suspicious. “I am moving everything in the house an inch out of place to see if Lucifer notices.” Is what they told him one night at like 4am, nothing has been the same since. These two gremlins have made Lucifer’s life h e l l. Things will completely go missing because either Belphie moved it, or mc was like: ��cool shiny.’ And while mc is now the obvious choice ranking above Mammon, they’ve started making new places for their hoards of things with Belphie’s help. But neither of them will say where. Belphie pretends he’s asleep. While mc just blinks at them, cocking their head as if they don’t understand what’s being asked of them. The items do go back to their owners eventually, but not before Belphie has had a good laugh about the whole thing.

Too blurry. Too crowded. Mason is holding up his middle finger. Not focused on the subject. Ava appears to be sneering?

The polaroids scatter on the floor as they’re being dropped, Felix’s frustration seemingly travelling through his fingertips and into the botched pictures as they skitter across the parquet. He had such high hopes for this holiday dinner they’ve panned - he even volunteered, much to Nat’s suspicion, to help decorate the warehouse to prepare the background for his perfect winter photos. There doesn’t seem to be a single wall or piece of furniture without strings of fairy lights or garlands hanging off them - and yet somehow, he managed to mess up all the pictures he took.

“I should have just used my phone, not this stupid polaroid Nat gave me,” he grumbles, as he sinks to the floor dramatically from the sofa. He turns his head to the left, expecting a response from Mason, but aside from the shrug of a shoulder, and a puff of smoke, he’s as disinterested as always. Felix allows his head to loll right now, and peeks through the open doors into the dining room, but his other team members are too far to share in his misery. Lizzie is in the middle of a story, which has Nat’s full attention, and Ava’s full, well, everything? Attention, adoration, respect, senses, everything. They’re cute, the way they hold hands over the table, how Ava squeezes Lizzie's hand encouragingly when she trails off or gets embarrassed by her own rambling. Felix hoped he would capture a moment between them, something candid, something like right now, but he’s missed his windows of opportunity - like for instance when Ava finally allowed herself to be dragged under the mistletoe with Lizzie, but their picture was ruined by the detective spilling her drink all over herself.

“Felix?”

“Leave me alone,” he replies, but he also cracks one eye open to make sure Nat, who’s just entered the room, doesn’t lose interest in his pity party on the floor. But she’s already retreating, so he starts flailing his limbs as if he were making a snow angel in the sea of polaroids. “Please don’t leave me alone. Mason won’t talk to me and I’m embarrassed. I messed up all the pictures. I tried taking them like you showed me but I messed up.”

“They’re not so bad,” Nat says kindly as she sits with her friend, plucking the odd semi-decent pictures from the ground. “See? This is lovely.”

“Yeah, but Lizard has hot chocolate spilt on her sweater in that one.”

“Don’t call her that,” Mason grumbles, as he sweeps some polaroids off his lap - the by-product of Felix’s snow angel performance - and flicks his cigarette into the flames of the fireplace. Nat pretends not to see, but the pain flashing across her features has already made Felix feel a little better. They spend the better of the next hour going through the pictures and sorting them out, while Mason sits close-by, smoking, lost in his thoughts. All that breaks their peace is Frank Sinatra’s drawling voice coming from the record player, and the occasional laughter from the lovebirds still camped in the dining room. By the end of it, they’re left with a handful of decent-ish photographs, and Felix wastes no time sticking them into the photo album he got from Lizzie for Christmas.

There was a moment today, a moment worth capturing, one that was befitting of the old silver screen movies Nat made him and Lizzie watch, between Ava and their beloved detective. Naturally, Felix - a rotten romantic at heart - is pissed that he wasn’t able to capture it. It was a moment far better than the forced kiss under the mistletoe, a moment of intimacy, when the pair thought they were away from prying eyes. A hand under Lizzie’s jaw, Ava’s eyes fixed on the prize, wanting to kiss but being unable to take their eyes off of each other… Obviously the shutter of the camera ruined it, causing the pair step away from each other, and Lizzie to hide her blushing cheeks behind the curtain of her frizzy hair, but that’s beside the point. They were happy. Maybe happier than he’s ever seen them. Things are often so fucked up, with the odds always stacked against them, that Felix sometimes lives in the comfort of these moments. He lives in his family’s happiness, in his friends’ laughter, in Lizzie’s tight hugs, in Ava’s pats on the shoulder… If he could, he’d capture all these moments in a jar and keep them very close always. Photographs are the next best thing - which is why he’s bummed out the picture he took of this moment must be so unrecognisable that it was swallowed by his sea of botched photographs.

He’s lost in thought when Mason nudges his shoulder, a polaroid of Lizzie and Ava in his hand stretched towards him.

“Found this under the sofa. Not too bad, if you’re into this lovey-dovey shit.”

From the Patreon Q&A: Zer0's biggest fear is the unknown, which is basically everything because he doesn't know a lot, but once he knows what it is he's okay.

His favorite game is Mortal Combat. He feels really bad and apologizes frequently every time he kills someone but he is CRAZY good at the game. The other robots have to ask him if they can win.

But take that with a grain of salt since they were making up all that stuff on the spot

AS FOR HEADCANONS

I like to think that sometimes when the bots want to mess with The Spine, they like to steal his head and run off with it. The Spine has to chase them down with his body (since it's still functional) but he only has eyes on his head, so he has a very difficult time navigating. He runs into stuff frequently. That's what the others do it for. Usually, someone like Peter or Annie has to shut it down.

Not really MY headcanon (as in I don't COMPLETELY hc it) but I like to think that Spine's vision highkey SUCKS. He often relies on bright lights to get around. That's why he couldn't find Zer0 Rabbit OR GG when they were literally right in front of him. (Rabbit and GG were hiding behind Zer0. Zer0 covered his eyes) Also why he saw stage lights and his instant thought was "sunset". And why he has to look so closely at the setlist. He doesn't realize his optics are bad though. He thinks that's normal.

The robots like to play hide and seek with him a lot because they know he sucks at it.

The robots often get scolded for playing. Not because they are playing, but because when they're running around the manor with all their weight, it makes the most obnoxious thumping sound imaginable. Like, have you ever been to a place where kids were upstairs and you were downstairs? You know how much noise they make? Now imagine that but 10x worse. The idea is so funny to me for some reason because how could you not know when they are playing.

The Jon has plenty of storage in his house. Plenty of drawers, cabinets, and cupboards. But they're all filled with little drawings he's made. (Or gravy) He's not the best at drawing, but he keeps doing it. If you go to Biscuit Town and ask him for some government papers, you're going to have to give him a minute, because he does NOT sort his papers. Sometimes he'll get distracted partway through the search to show off a random doodle he made one time.

Also The Jon wants Weird Al to be his dad.

If Upgrade gets a phone call, and she doesn't like the conversation, she will simply say "Bye-bye" and hang up. She doesn't care if you're a spam call or if you're Commander Cosmo himself. She holds no priorities. It's complicated though because it's not really about whether or not you're having a good conversation with her, it's whether or not she's enjoying herself. If you want to have a serious conversation with her, you'll have to sprinkle in that seriousness throughout the call instead of focusing on it. Essentially, you want to call Upgrade? Then be prepared to put on a show.

Sometimes, when Zer0 sees an animal he thinks is really precious, he starts crying. You've heard of cute aggression, now get ready for cute depression.

Hatchworth likes to use portals to jumpscare people sometimes.

Rabbit and Upgrade sometimes decide to target a random bot and then yassify them. The others have caught on to this, and are now super weary of Rabbit and Upgrade being together when the victim is alone.

Suguru is the quiet to your loud, the organised to your impulsive, and the early to your late (which he factors in, don't worry). I feel like not enough people acknowledge how messed up it is that eggman puts cute little animals into robots and then makes those robots look like other animals. There’s this cutesy element to some of their designs and then you remember there’s a tiny creature in there being used as a living battery and it’s just so delightfully fucked up. I bet he thought of the design concepts and just got this huge evil grin on his face when he realised he could make these robots look like living things while knowing that there really was something alive in there nobody could see or hear

YESSS it really is, he was already doing fucked up shit from the beginning by capturing poor innocent animals and putting them inside robots, the iconic first sign of his evil. That's a part of what makes him and his methods as evil as his final goal, his way of going about it has always been evil. I love classic Egg's funny cute spherical design and all the fun creative designs his robots have, both for how they're dressing up the dark truth of his evil and how he's trapping innocent creatures to use for evil.

It's often forgotten just how messed up the concept is because of that which is unfortunate but at the same time, it gives more impact when it's realized as a result, which proves that the trickery really works, so I wouldn't change it at all. I love how it says a lot about him and how low he will go as he'll gleefully target and exploit the helpless and innocent. He'd then move on to bigger targets for even bigger selfish gain in later games. If he sees vulnerability and potential for selfish gain in others, he takes advantage and enjoys it.

The way the robots' designs can be cute, toy-like, and based off fun creatures but require the innocent lives of real tiny animals to be forced inside and made to fight against their will and become killing machines, is another great example of combining seemingly innocent and fun things with deeply messed up and evil ones, like his dangerous deadly theme parks and other themes he's fond of too. It's unique, fascinating, and delightfully twisted- the purity of things he can taint and add a new fear and danger to it.

Using the animals' life force as a battery is scary because they're trapped inside the robot with no way to escape, where their life now belongs to him for him to use and benefit from as he pleases, and they have no choice but to serve and fight for him against their will. And nobody can see them or hear them to know of the fear and suffering they go through inside, they just see the cute colorful robot shell that looks fun but is a prison for them as they have to live like a machine. There's no freedom in the empire.

Another idea I love is that Eggman sees it as improving upon nature itself by creating his superior version if things in his own image like a god, weaponizing the natural abilities the animals are known for and using them to fight for him, so they're finally worthy and useful. Animals in robots are a step in creating his perfect world taken over by his technology and machinery, where its entire natural state is destroyed and replaced with his man-made hell that he finds so beautiful. And he knows and doesn't care who gets hurt.

He starts with the weakest and most vulnerable and works his way up. The first affected are the little animals in robots and the environment he damages with his creations, which can also lead to more damage of other wildlife. And he'll enjoy every sign, it's a warning of his power and a taste of what he wants the entirety of the world to be like one day. The world can finally be as great as him when ruled by the greatest genius and being to walk the planet, when he's the rightful owner and god that gets to shape it as he pleases.

I bet he did sit there enthusiastically scribbling notes of his ideas and drawing concept sketches and blueprints with a giddy sadistic grin as he thought about all this hehe 💜 When he sees cute innocent animals and beautiful nature, his mind only goes to dark places as he thinks about how he can exploit it, use it all to his advantage, and ruin it, his way of improving it as it suits him and his desires and is made in his image instead. He loves the feelings of power and control it can bring him and it just makes him want more.

And you know he doesn't care to keep the animals safe and alive in there as long as they can serve because he views them as nothing more than tools for his creations, he only cares about their condition if it means they're no longer useful to him, like when they seemed beaten up in Lost World and he scowled and said they're "underwhelming" and he was "violently disappointed." (Plus the asshole carelessly dropped them from the sky in the intro just to get to Sonic and Tails.) So they're lucky that Sonic frees them in time.

Oh my gosh get ready for cuteness: So Tup of course doesn't have a lot of resources for dates and adventures, Jaylee knows this and insists that it fine, that she doesn't need anything and just spending time with him is enough. But Tup's inner romantic won't let it go, so, he plans out this whole night on Coruscant. It starts out with him making them some food at her apartment, something that isn't easy to mess up given his limited cooking experience but of course the effort alone is more than enough. Then he takes her out into the city, starting with this market in the mid level that's vibrant and full of life, perfect for window shopping if neither of them have much funds, so many new things to looks at which excites him but he also will make her smile because she loves seeing new things. The main draw of this area though is that, not far away there are always local bands playing their music outside with a whole area set aside for dancing. They can dance the night away together and take breaks to just listen to the bands. Then to top off the night, he'll surprise her by taking her up to this gorgeous view of the higher levels, a nice rooftop with enough privacy for them to just sit and talk, enjoying the view and each other's company. Course, they're probably too lost in each other's eyes to pay the view much mind after awhile

11. Who causes the most arguments?

Unfortunately this falls on Jaylee. She loves how open and affectionate Tup is, but, especially at first, it activates some of her insecurities. It's very hard for her to be affectionate and she doesn't know how to reciprocate, this causes her to get snippy and short tempered, which of course, understandably, upsets Tup. It's one of her issues she has to work on, but thankfully it does get better as their relationship progresses <3

20. What are they like when sharing a bed?

It takes forever for her to straight up ask for it, but, Jaylee loves to fall asleep snuggled against Tup's chest with his arm wrapped around her. Of course, spooning is also an option, so sometimes they'll fall asleep with Tup being the little spoon. Letting Tup be vulnerable when he gets back from rough campaigns is very important to her and she often insists that he be the little spoon even if he doesn't ask. If they fell asleep cuddled up then they'll often drift apart throughout the night. Tup barely moves cos of his training but Jaylee is a very restless sleeper and somehow ends up on Tup's other side at some point in the night. It would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that he sometimes wakes up from her kicking him in her sleep lmao

How long do you typically spend on a drawing? Of the ones you've posted, which took the longest? Which was the quickest?

Hi, thank you for the question!

Short answer: anywhere from 30 minutes to like 12 hours

Long answer;

It really depends. I can whip some cute ones in like 20 minutes, others I draw through multiple days.

Depends on the style and the amount of detail. This is an example of a 30 minutes one:

Only one character, no background, simple shading. I would say 10 minutes for figuring out the pose I want and sketching it, 10 minutes for lineart (maybe a bit less) and 10 minutes to color and shade it.

When I draw without lineart, with this more messy, paint-esqe style, it's also pretty quick. 10 minutes to sketch, and the rest is basically color and shades at the same time.

This took me about an hour and a half to make, the shoes and the skateboard being the most difficult parts cause of the shapes, they had to be pretty even even in this style.

When I'm messing around with different styles or techniques, it often takes longer due to trying to figure out what I want certain aspects of the drawing to look like. For those two, the first took me close to 3 hours despite it being pretty simple - I was experimenting with drawing fire and I spend a solid chunk of time on just redrawing it over and over again. The other one was my first time drawing with different brushes and it took me an embarassingly long time to learn how to keep it under control. I would say it took like 6 hours to finish it.

The drawings I spend most time on are those with proper backgrounds. I like to draw the backgrounds separate from the characters, so it means I make the whole background even when it's mostly covered by characters later, like this drawing:

I drew that over a few days, so I don't really know how long it took.

Those times are for drawings themselves - I sometimes spend even longer on looking up references and poses. Sometimes I want to draw byt don't know why so I just go on different stock image sites and look up random things in hopes of finding inspiration.

I think the pieces that take the most time I never post here, cause they are for my DND campaign and I don't know if anyone would be interested. For example, this is Hattie Lykaia, a tiefling owner of an alchemy store. Coming up with the design for the character and for the space took a lot of te and I had like fourteen aketches before commiting to this version. I would say total time was about 10 hours, I couldn't figure out the colors to save my life.

The stained glass took forever. I never want to draw stained glass again.

One of the things I enjoy most but never share here is character design! I don't really know what I'm doing most of the time but I love making rough concept sketches, like those:

Despite being messy and all, they take a long time! Looking up things, figuring out the shapes and colors... Me and my brother watched five movies in a row while I was making this ones. So yeah, despite the drawing itself being quick and messy, the whole process takes me a while. But it's really, really fun.

While I'm waiting on ny art tablet to charge for the milk day drawing I might as well take to time to show some cod cookie ocs I drew up starting from the lesst to most info I've made for them

Most simple one atm (her design or at least some of the colors will change), she's the best at negotiation, say some sweet lies and she'll have people in the palm of her hands. Never really drops the act so it's unknown is she's aware of her behavior or not due to that.

Relationship with others

Choco - tension he finds her untrustworthy, she takes that distrust as a challenge

Lico - positive he likes the compliments regardless, she finds how easily he melts to compliments cute

Pom - tension, some odd rivalry that neither know how to describe it's just there

Mush - positive for both she's a good babysitter and she enjoys taking care of kids

Red - tension he likes the compliments but also gets freaked out by it at the same time, she likes all the dogs he has

Lobster - never met

Earl - positive he likes that she's catches the attention of guests, she's neutral

Chess twins - mutual positive, same as mush

Enchantress - never met

Uses sleep magic to well- put people to sleep, it happens very quickly and looks exactly like someone passing out, upon waking up the person can be fine in rare instances but usually experiences stomach issues, vomiting, and other poisoning related side effects. She seems to be aware of this effect and can choose who is fine and not, although she only has specific people she likes as exceptions, she takes an enjoyment in making people fall asleep as she herself is quite a sleepy person

Relationship with others

Choco - Choco's negative since she always makes him pass out when he's in a bad mental state, Rosemary's positive and she think making him sleep is helpful since he can't be in a bad state if he's asleep, neither are aware of the others thoughts on it though. Choco's one of the exceptions

Lico - negative he finds her magic more bad than good, she's neutral and doesn't enjoy his yelling at her, he's fun when he's asleep though

Pom - neutral for both, pom appreciates her magic and the massive help is has and Rosemary's just happy to do her thing

Mush - positive for both, mush finds the sleep magic fun and rose enjoys having another odd individual around, mush would be an exception but as they're immune to poisons it doesn't even affect them in the first place.

Red - tension, the magic makes the dogs sick and he dislikes having her near because of that, rose is negative as she doesn't quite understand why he doesn't want her around and thinks he hates her

Lobster - positive for both, rose has never used her magic on them and they enjoy having conversations together

Earl - tension earl doesn't want her making guests fall asleep and get sick, she's neutral since she doesn't really care for the place regardless as it's too fancy for her taste

Chess twins - positive they play games together and she has some cool bedtime stories she tells

Enchantress - neutral for both

The main healer of the cod, despite her sweet facade she's a major sadist who enjoys messing with her patients. The cod keeps her cause despite the "accidents" she's surprisingly good at her job, no matter how much she messes with them they always leave in perfect condition. She always seems to be smiling, never once having been seen even having the slightest twitch of a frown, you'd think this would be reassuring but it just creeps everyone out. But hey! At least that means she likes her job, right?

Relationship with others

Choco - tension, he goes out of his way to avoid injuries being noticed regardless so her being the healer is just an extra reason to avoid it. Her stance is positive, she finds his avoidance cute in a 'pet hamster stands up on legs to say hi to you' kinda way, choco isn't aware of it but she actually gives him special treatment compared to everyone else and plays along with it despite always knowing that he's hiding it

Lico - Licorice hates her, pretty straight forward his quote would be "HEY! Watch where you're pointing that you could kill someone you know!". Yarrow's stance is positive, Licorice is her favorite to mess with. Her quote "aww come on, you're a necromancer can't you just bring yourself back to life after?"

Pom - they hate each other, pom doesn't let her do any funny buisness on her and yarrow hides poison in her stuff in retaliation since pom can't be sure who did it exactly

Mush - mutual positive, yarrow has a 'no kids' rule when messing around with people, she find PM fascinating and likes to use their mushrooms as expirements on the others, they're just happy someones taking the shroomies

Red - dislikes her, he's glad she doesn't mess with the dogs but he keeps finding dog food conveniently placed in his easily damaged clothes and paperwork, yarrow is positive and she pretend to not know what he's talking about

Lobster - haven't met

Earl - haven't met

Chess twins - positive for both, the kids find her antics funny and she like to have them help her in "pranks" on the others

Enchantress - neutral for both, yarrow doesn't really see enchantress and enchantress doesn't really care about yarrow's antics since she does her job regardless

Being ostracized from society a long time ago Pink Tigar simply wanted to be somewhere she was welcomed, this place just happened to be the cod in which enchantress took him in before being sealed away, he raised red velvet and took the job as the recruiter for the cod when they were low on numbers as it was easy for her to emphasize with others and her own story would be relatable. As years went by he became less involved and took up more of a fighting role. He seems to know that the cod is bad but stays as she believes no one would accept her other than them. Despite that she takes up a mother/father figure for the younger members, encouraging them to find their own path and scolding them for doing anything too bad.

Relationship with others

Choco - Choco is neutral leaning on positive, he sees her like a parent he never had while also being hesitant because of that, his quote would be "I don't need your pity". Pink is positive wanting to give Choco the encouragement he needs to leave whilst wishing he could do more to help Choco at the same time, her quote would be "once you find somewhere you're welcomed, please remember me"

Lico - Licorice is tension, he's hates being scolded by pink and sees her like an annoying parent, his quote would be "GAH! What's with all that holier than though attitude! I'm not a baby!". Pink is also tension, wanting Licorice to do better and not appreciating the rebellious attitude, his quote "If you want to be taken more seriously you have to act more mature first"

Pom - mutual tension, they disagree with each others beliefs and avoid the other

Mush - positive their quote "always accepts my shroomies!". Pink's is protective his quote "This is no place for a child, please stay safe"

Red - velvet sees him like a parent, having raised him after enchantress was sealed away, Pink sees Red like his son and checks in on him multiple times a day

Earl - Earl tension, he thinks he scares away guests, Pink neutral, just wants to make sure the twins are being taken care of properly

Chess twins - the twins are positive they enjoy playing games with her and asking all sorts of questions, Pink is similar to mush's and simply wants them to have a safe and happy childhood

Another story: the people!

Warning: Some of the characters have no reference sheet because I forgot to draw it (I'll work on it as soon as I can). the relationships could get updated if they interact with characters from other people or characters I may create in the future :3

Maddy

Description: she's one of a stubborn girl. If she wants something, she'll find a way to have it. She's the kind of person that first acts and then asks. sometimes (not too often and only between friends) she can get a little chaothic and silly. In contrast to this strong-willed attitude of hers, there's the fact that she has a slight sort of anxiety. Maddy has hard times interacting with new people out of the blue, and even if she can deal with them almost smoothly she could often feel really nervous and speak in a more "aggressive" way (see how she dealt with her first meeting with the others :D). She's a big fan of cuddles (she'll never admit it or ask for it tho) and sleeping (she's a cat after all). She always knows how her friends are feeling, no matter how good they are to hide it. Her body, which is made of wool, can stand a lot of physical stress (by this i mean putting her under a press, twisting her, etc) without getting broken. In combat she will mainly use her staff and magic attacks. to make her use the halberd you really need to make her hate you so much she can't stand your existence, and it won't be a first-sight thing. Don't hurt her friends. Never.

Relationships: Muffet: the two of them are besties. Despite the rough start, Maddy ended up really enjoying her company and that sort of weird way she has to talk to people sometimes. Grillby: Maddy really cares for him, even if he doesn't remember the time spent together. she sometimes comes visit him in his timeline, and ended up building again a nice friendship with him. Sam: She absolutely hates their guts. the only reason why they're still alive is Raehel's extreme patience and forgiveness. Flowey: She and the flower are nice friends. they have a similar vibe, and they share similar stories. Sometimes you could see them as partners in crime, but they're not really a pair of prankster or anything. Smiling man: Maddy's feelings towards both of his sides are really neutral. She knows he exists, she stands his presence, but that's it. she finds Seam a bit of an eexggerated and Gaster a bit of a wimp. Raehel: she's a little scary, but for the rest she's a really nice lady. Maddy respects her greatly, but with a little bit of fear (more or less in the same way Susie respects Toriel in Deltarune :D) and has a thing for her snail pie. Other: She has a solid relationship with Ezra, Grillby's brother, as she often chats with him when she goes visiting Grillby. She loves hanging out with The human Children, as they have all the cuteness of any child but they don't mistreat her poor tail.

Notes from the author: She's the last character I elaborated, but I think she became my favourite dude out of all. Originally I drew her palette based only on the standard Mad Mew Mew dress, but then took out her dark dress and messed around with the two of them. I like to think she's a big fan of Epictale Mad Mew Mew 'cause she's herself but badass.

Muffet

Description: she's a friendly girl with a bit of an attitude, a slight british accent and one of an unsettling glare. by being the head of her spider clan for over 40 years she knows how to bend people at her will, with the good ones or the bad ones. She likes to have a certain stability in her life, that being a regular routine and a place to come back to at the end of the day. she can easily strike a conversation with anyone, without being too overwhelming or annoying. sometimes, out of old bad habits, she has a weird way to cheer up and encourage people. she kinda threatens them while speaking, using a quiet and sweet tone of voice with a hint of something unsettling. you could be trying to find a way to propose to someone and she could come to you and say "C'mon dear, you can do this! and if you can't, I can always turn them into a muffin~". she likes baking, as many other Muffets, but she also enjoys making dreamcatchers and sewing. She can shapeshift into a normal looking spider, but she doesn't do that as she thinks she looks fat in that form. Instead, she often shapeshifts only her arms. to stab people.

Relationships: Maddy: Muffet is really close to her. the two of them sometimes go shopping together, often stopping by a nice clothing shop (they both like fancy stuff). she kinda admires how Maddy can go trough bad stuff more easily than her. Grillby: Muffet misses him. Maddy convinced her to come and visit him a few times, but seeing him feels bittersweet. Muffet doesn't see him as the fire man she knew, as not only he doesn't remember her but he also is a bit different. Muffet would like to accept the new Grillby as easily as Maddy did, but she's having a hard time doing so. Sam: She despise them. Muffet never fully understood what was going trough the human's mind, and the fact that they convinced her to kill people that easily made her more wary of humans in general. if she already wasn't a fan of humans, now she really has hard times trusting them. Flowey: The two of them get along. sometimes. Often Flowey is too chatty and insolent for our spider. they get along mainly when there are others around, but it doesn't mean they can't start discussing in such situations. Smiling man: there are some mixed feelings regarding this person. She doesn't mind Gaster as he never really tried to do anything wrong against anyone, but he also is the idiot that left Sam free when they first got warned by Raehel. Seam, by the other hand, sounds more firm but is also less trustworthy. Raehel: She and Muffet have a stable friendship, often hanging out in the kitchen or with the children. The only thing Muffet would criticize about her is her are her overprotective mom's instincts... Other: She sometimes enjoys chatting with Fresh, both being extremely chatty dudes. She sometimes visits her siblings, who are the only ones to know what happened her in the whole timeline.

Notes from the author: As i've always been a super-duper fan of Muffet, this gal was the one I elaborated first. The first time she was supposed to be a survivor from a Littletale genocidal run (I don't even know if that exists) that Sam adopted and grew up as a daughter and then decided to use to kill not Sanses, but popular characters in general. I even had a sketch of her going against the Bad time trio. On another try she was from Undertale and had a sister called Tuffet (truly an original name) who died on a genocide run (I had a thing for murdersprees) and Sam promised Muffet to bring her back if she did what they told her. There was a try somewhere where she teamed up with Error to kill Sam for a reason I honestly don't remember.

Grillby

Description: he's a quiet guy with an unreadable expression. He always looks the same (which is pretty much of a neutral expression) and his eyes are perfectly hidden behind a pair of thick lenses. without the glasses, he's almost blind. He doesn't mind speaking with people if asked, but he will rarely try to start a conversation. despite this almost cold facade (unintended pun), he's a caring guy who likes to see people happy and well. He has the habit of searching for every outcome to every situation, trying to go for the best one. this is sometimes a bit of a bad thing as he often ends up looking at the many negative possibilities and almost ignoring all the positive ones. He can sometimes be a little pessimistic, but all he's trying to do is to keep safe the ones he cares for. Grillby isn't the best fighter: his attacks are weak and limited. he though is one of a great defender, and you can be sure that as far as he has someone or something to defend, you WON'T go past his walls in ANY way. If you try, you'll probably get incinerated. After the events of "Another story", our fire friend got practically resetted and has no memory of what happened back then or who are the people that come to his and his brother's place.

Relationships: Muffet: A quiet lady. comes rarely, and always with Maddy. she looks like a toughtful lady. maybe a little sad. One day he should try talk to her. Maddy: An interesting girl. An almost regular costumer, comes twice or thrice a month. who knows where she's from. Grillby enjoys her strong attitude and doesn't mind conversating with her. Ezra: His one and only brother. He cares for him like nothing else in the world. They are almost always together, either in the restaurant or outside. Sam: A person. Grillby saw them only once, and they seemed a pretty normal guy. he though won't forget that feeling of nostalgia he had when he saw them. Flowey: One of Maddy's friends. he tags along sometimes, more frequently than Muffet. almost as chatty as Maddy, not as friendly as her but not annoying. he sometimes looks at Grillby with some sort of... hate? superiority? sorrow? something like that. he though always hides it as Maddy comes in. Smiling man: Two interesting men. they seem like brothers. Gaster is more of a emphathetic person, while Seam seems more cold. for some reason tho, he ended up speaking more with Seam than with Gaster. they don't come often, once every few months, and (curiously) it's always only one of them per time. Raehel: Maddy spoke about her a few times, but Grillby never met her in person. She sounds like a nice lady. Other: the usual relationships Undertale Grillby has with the other characters.

Notes from the author: I thought about making him shorter than the standard. Just for fun. But at that point he started to become too cute, and I wanted him to stay more one the "cool" side. second guy I elaborated of the trio, in a timeline he was Muffet's brother and in another he was a guy Sam tried to use to kill sanses. and in this last timeline he was supposed to be from Fellswap Gold and be a professional shooter.

Raehel

Description: An old lady who lives away from everyone in the farthest corner of the multiverse. she has eight loving children, seven humans and a flower. She's kind and patient, the loving mother everyone would like to have. She has some sort of aura, that feeling of wisdom and ancient coming from her. She knows how to make herself be respected without the need to be violent (she is a mother, after all). She has a thing for gardening since cooking slowly became almost a waste of materials (this almost godlike form doesn't need to sleep or eat), and after the events of "Another story" she started travelling more often out of curiosity. the Multiverse has changed since the last time she saw it... The books of her bookshelves aren't the only books she reads, as she sometimes visits other worlds' libraries (nobody knows when you'll find the ultimate butterscotch-cinnamon pie recipe...). Despite the fact that she may look just a sweet and patient old lady, Raehel is capable to stand against almost everyone in battle (even if she tries to avoid fights). Remember that our goat lady is everyone's mom friend. yeah, even yours. She doesn't know you? it doesn't matter.

Relationships: Muffet: The two monsters get along easily, and Raehel tends to care a lot for her health as she always looks a little too thoughtful. There are times where she starts discussing with Asriel, but the old lady can clearly see they don't hate each other. Maddy: Truly a lovely little lady. She is polite, strong and friendly. one of the few people outside the family that gets along with Asriel. Sam: Raehel has a lot of patience for everyone, but Sam is one of a kind. Flowey: her first child. a little irrespectful from time to time, but it's something acceptable in a certain limit for someone of his age. Smiling man: She is slowly forgiving them. very slowly. the two left Sam use some innocent souls to murder hundreds, mistreat her child, and almost bring the multiverse to an end. Seam thinks he knows everything and Gaster has no strenght to say no to his child. This is not acceptable in a parent. Grillby: that poor creature. he got trough so much, only to forget about his few friends and be sent back to their small reality. at least now they look happy. Fresh: Fresh is a dear family friend. he has a very bright personality despite his lack of real feelings, and this is something Raehel respects. He often visits to chat, and sometimes brings guests. sadly, the latter aren't always really nice, and they are never there to simply conversate. Other: Raehel deeply loves all of her children and has the natural tendency to care for everyone.

Notes from the author: She is a character I first thought for another project I ended up scraping and then ripping apart to stick pieces of it all over "Another Story" and other things I'll post one day maybe. When TATATALE's Hopes and Dreams event came out I absolutely wanted her to partecipate, but I introduced her too late... TwT

Flowey

Description: surely one of a stubborn, chatty flower. He has the bad habit to act as a know-it-all, thing that comes from when he still could reset and mess aroud in his timeline. He's a strong willed dude that knows too well how to read someone's expression and body language. he thinks a little too high of himself, seeing a lot of normal people as idiots. If you're able to get trough his shell of criticism against everyone and everything, he can become your best friend (in the real way). he'll support you in all your plans (not without some constructive criticism, of course) and he'll make sure nobody hurts you if you can't stand by yourself. He doesn't handle very good pblic demonstrations of affection (hug him in a crowd and he'll get all grumpy and go "the hell man" but will probably blush cutely UwU). he's real good at fighting, mainly using small seeds like bullets (the "friendliness pellets") and some dangerously spiky vines to cause as much damage as he can in the shortest amount of time. and remember! DO NOT. TOUCH. HIS SIBLINGS.

Relationships: Muffet: he says he hates her. She's stubborn, annoying, weak, and yet she's one of a smartass and most of the times she's right about what she says. the times the two of them speak there isn't much friendliness. despite all this, Muffet is allowed to get near his family. Maddy: They're practically partners in crime. She passed the check almost immediately, and even if Flowey will never admit it he really enjoys spending time with her. Sam: no comment because if comment then bad comment. Grillby: Flowey never met him before he lost the memory of the multiverse. Maddy said he was a bit of a depressed, pessimistic dude, but that now he looks way happier. In Flowey's opinion, he's too silent. Smiling man: Flowey doesn't hate the two of them, but they surely doesn't like them either. there isn't much that can be said for them. Raehel: His dear mother. he acts as an edgy teen sometimes, but he deeply cares for her. her cinnamon-butterscotch pie is the best. The Children: his beloved siblings. loves all of them, and no one will ever dare hurting them. Other: he has a particular hate towards Fresh.

Notes from the author: I wanna eat his face. he's a grumpy babyboi. skrunky lil' flower. a little cute pie. also (and I'm gonna eliminate this when I make his reference sheet) he's 52 cm and not 32.

Smiling man

Description: Smiling man is the general term for the two entities that live in the same body, one being Seam and the other being Gaster. the two both enjoy leaning new things, being curious about everything. they are patient and usually friendly, even if Seam surely is less friendly than Gaster. [You can find their story HERE]. - Seam: he is the rational side. the logical one, the one that created the CORE and that knew Sam was dangerous. he is more distant, more formal, more "elegant". he doesn't really care about others, but still will try to not sound like a jerk. - Gaster: he is the emotional side. the empathetic one, the one that cared deeply for the young human and that built a family for himself (only to see it forget about him). he is more friendly, more warm, more caring. he tries to make everyone happy, but is too scared to make the wrong thing to take serious decisions.

Relationships: Muffet: they think she has a lot of talent. she could be a really strong fighter, maybe even at the level of some multiverse travellers. she just doesn't realize it. or doesn't want to. Maddy: a particularly determined girl. Seam likes how stubborn and straightfoward she can be. Sam: It's almost considered their child. both Seam and Gaster treat him as such, one being more serious and strict while the other being more soft and loving. Flowey: they respect each other. Gaster cares for him, as he feels guilty for what he went trough because of Sam.Grillby: the two find him a really good listener. Seam likes how he's able to do anything for his friends and family. Raehel: Their relationship is getting better. She's a little scary, to be honest, but they're learning to get along. Other: Jevil is their best friend since always. he sometimes comes by and visits the two, and they play Uno all together and chat about literally anything.

Notes from the author: I wanted Sam to have a guide of sort. Initially we had our friendly Template, but then I elaborated new plans for the human and decided to give them a father figure.

Sam

Description: the human. They are quite extroverted and friendly, as long as they want you to like them. he can be a little forgetful and clumsy at times, but only for things that aren't really important. They have the tendency to not care really about people and things as they are nothing but mere puppets in the hands of the creators. They are also very, very good at hiding it. They always try to not be too visible, not too noticeable, as neutral as they can. there is not much that can be said about them.

Relationships: the trio: they treat the three all in the same way and doesn't really care about them. they just don't wanna deal with the three anymore and will move on. Flowey: same for the trio. the only difference is that they don't trust Flowey. he knows way more than the trio. Smiling man: their father figure. they'll never admit they care for the two a little bit. Raehel: ... scary. Other: Fresh is annoying. Jevil is always tagging along with them and they honestly don't mind him.

Notes from the author: They originally were supposed to be called Someone. yeah. truly an original name. they also were supposed to be an entity outside the worlds, something like a player, with the powers of a creator and stuff, just having fun messing around. the human form was like a default skin, and he could turn into practically anything (his default monster appearance was an almost human-sized crow). despite being my second older character for this whole mess, i have no idea of how to describe them. it is all in my head, so intricated and cool, but it's pretty hard to put it into words.

Sorry if you aren't taking these anymore, but what do you think of 'kanasebench'? The Nifl Julia art looks pretty, but it feels like a whiplash to see it compared to some of the other art?

(I don't actually have FEH pass, but I got Nifl Julia on the Binding World thing, and it startled me)

Oh trust me, I will ALWAYS take a FEH artist ask. It's so much fun to talk about these artists and what makes their art appealing (or not appealing depending on who the artist is and their work, lol).

And I'm actually really glad you brought up Kanasebench because it is SO not fair that they haven't been given a chance to draw another character, because just look at Julia:

Oh gosh, she's just so darling, look at her little skirt grab, absolutely adding to the effect that this is a Resplendent outfit, this is the garb of a kingdom that she's never worn before but really seems to enjoy it.

I mentioned before with a few artists that it's really hard to judge just from looking at one character, but there's already so much pure skill we can see from this. Absolutely love the lightest shades of lilac/lavender/whatever purple shade used for the light part of the dress; it makes you think that part of the dress is white but the lilac tones are to complement Julia's natural color scheme with her hair. Kanasebench has also taken several vastly different colors (vivid shades of blue, muted shades of purple, white, and gold accents) and managed to beautifully blend it together; I complained earlier this year about Luthier's costume being an absolute mess of a color choice but Kanasebench has a fantastic grasp on color. Another thing I really want to point out is that I love how they structure the face and how they manage to blend this anime art style with keeping natural anatomy, that still manages to keep the character's youthfulness without straying too much into "bug-eyed pencil-neck anime child". No hate towards Sachie (although Hanusu is... okay), but Sachie's Julia artwork is too... I don't wanna say "too anime" because that's what this game is SUPPOSED to be, but it's just too standard anime style, kind of.

OH AND LOOK AT THE CRITICAL ARTWORK:

LOOK AT THE SPECIAL EFFECTS. LOOK AT THE WAY THE DRESS SWIRLS. The action pose of Julia herself might not be super strong but the clothing gives it movement! And the simple art effects at the bottom with the ice are, like I said, simple, but effective! Kind of reminds me of Breath of the Wild's single character art pieces.

Now is there a bit of an issue with Kanasebench's artwork? I'd say... yes, but it's really just the one issue. And that's expressions:

Now granted I can see that they're trying to push for differing expressions, but I think simply because of their style, it's really hard to get something drastic without sabotaging the character's face. Though I will say in the neutral portrait, Julia's little smile coupled with that semi-curtsy is just... so stinkin' cute. I'd still like to see if this is something they'd be able to improve in the future... IF FEH EVER HIRES THEM AGAIN!!! >:( SERIOUSLY FEH, STOP ONE AND DONE-ING SOME OF YOUR REALLY COOL ARTISTS. YOU DID IT TO LEGENDARY SELIPH'S ARTIST, YOU DIDN'T GIVE BTHX ANOTHER CHANCE TO IMPROVE, AND YOU DROPPED HOMARE AFTER THEIR GORGEOUS EREMIYA ARTWORK. STOP. DOING. THAT.

Anyways, I'd say that because of how pleasant it is to simply look at this artwork, Kanasebench is very much a 9/10. You're definitely right about the whiplash because the first time I saw the artwork in Arenas I was REALLY thrown off. It's an incredibly drastic difference in style compared to other artists that you can't really say looks similar to someone else, but it's got so much charm to it. I think Julia was a good character pick for this artist, and if they draw again I think a good pick of characters would be Duo F!Robin with little M!Morgan, Genny, Sophie, Lysithea, or maybe a Ross alt to see how they draw boys.
