Day 30 - Costume! In which you get to discover that I did stuff inspired by Impressionism for like a year and a half offline and it comes much easier to me than character design. And also that I've never celebrated Halloween IRL or dressed up much so I figured I'd do another crossover piece >:3

This is your autumnly reminder to go rewatch Over The Garden Wall, btw. It was probably the closest trio I could think of in terms of art style and dynamic, and that didn't have a massive tonal contrast to THSC.

this is a regu-bowl account so all regulus ships are pretty much a go for me. also, i have this like messed up spot in my heart for bartylus both as a romantic and platonic ship. *shrugs* i like them toxic and codependent.

anyways, the trio! the unholy trio gods i love them. i love them so much i think they constantly pull each other from darkness. it's just a given, ya know? no one was there for them and they all see each other's missing pieces. so much of their friendship lives in spite of all the people they lost and have left them. "see this? this is true loyalty." something like that. it's messy, convoluted, and complex but somehow it's the easiest thing they've ever done. they recognized each other's whale songs and swam to see who it was that sang back.

and because i'm a regulus girly, i think it's especially wonderful to have rosekiller pine over regulus. rosekiller sex because barty is so heartbroken about regulus. evan snapping at regulus because he keeps chasing after people that don't want him back when they're right there. barty claiming he knows regulus best but when regulus keeps lying to himself evan is the only one who can call him out on his bullshit.

"I've known you since we were kids, we saw each other grow up. Our families have touched branches since the very beginning — do not fucking lie to me, Black." He says as he grips Regulus' chin. Evan is so tired of all the lies. "What. do. you. want?"

Evan calls regulus bunny btw. He calls barty his pretty knife. Tells you something about the role he plays in the trio and how barty and regulus typically are with each other, huh?

Barty calls regulus starlight, starshine, and princess. He calls evan rosie, red, and, secretly, petal. Out of the three of them he's the most unreasonably feral over his lovers just as he's also the most openly romantic. Big sweeping gestures (no matter how disturbing). Proud declarations.

Regulus doesn't have pet names for barty but will fondly shorten his name to Bee. On Halloween he calls barty, Boo. He calls evan apollo. When he's feeling like a bitch he'll call him Vincent.

Regulus calms barty down, barty calms evan down, and evan calms regulus down.

Evan is dom to bartylus. Regulus is dom to barty. And barty is sub to evan and reg — he has the deepest need to be taken care of. Non-dynamic sex (outside D/s), however, is very different for bartylus *ahem ahem* regulus *ahem* is a cumslut and needs a good dicking down most of the time.

Complex trauma has barty "dropping" from time to time. Which is really fucking hard. Regulus and evan routinely "putting him down" helps for most of the time, but there are instances where he feels himself dropping and the real challenge is getting to both or either one in time. It's... A lot. Barty needs a lot of caring for but it absolutely doesn't fucking matter when Barty is easily the most trusting out of the three and would drop everything for his lovers.

(As cats: Sirius yowled loudly every time the door was closed and then rubbed himself all over James as soon as James came out; Peter just appeared on the sofa one day, prompting a ‘Well, I guess I need to get another litterbox’; and Remus had to be pspspspsp’ed for months before he came close enough to be pet)

Favourite subject may be Transfig but CoMC is a close second

Secretly loves snakes

Apologises to every snake he finds whenever he insults a Slytherin and it’s almost like the snakes can understand him

(Both he and Lily are carriers of the Parsel-gene and Harry’s ability comes from them, not Voldemort’s soul piece, because that’s dumb)

The smell of it alone prompts a full-body shudder and some gagging

The Hat would’ve considered both Slytherin and Hufflepuff for him if he hadn’t been so dead-set on going to Gryffindor, because he’s so loyal and could’ve been so ambitious

Despite Euphemia being a Ravenclaw the Hat would not have considered Ravenclaw for him. Not because he’s not bright, he is, he just didn’t value knowledge for the sake of knowledge

He’s a Gryffindor boy through and through though, just like his kiddo. Would jump into an inferno to save an innocent person without a back-up plan

Attentive parent, almost at helicopter-level. In an AU where he’s alive he bawls whenever Harry goes away to Hogwarts because James can’t protect him there

When Dumbledore died James throttled him for putting such a heavy burden on Harry’s shoulders. Almost thanked Snape for (sorta) killing Dumbles

(Lily is glad he didn’t because Snape would’ve promptly morphed into a violent ball of spirit-shock)

He’s not the mum friend though (that’s Peter). James is the dad friend who complains at length about his back, sneezes loudly, and has the Dad Reflexes

(Remus and Sirius are the Surly Teen and the Fun Uncle friends respectively)

Flirts on accident (and is good at it) but can’t flirt for the life of him when he’s doing it on purpose

Hair is coarse as all hell. Sirius frequently begs him to at least use conditioner bc James’ hair keeps itching his neck

Wanted to become an Auror as a kid. Grew out of it. Actually wanted to become a Transfiguration Master (with caring for magical creatures on the side), and would have continued with that had the war not started

marlene: sirius. and hes soooooo pissed about it. she even sprays her hair black

dorcas: a hot and sexy drag king because shes the butch dyke of my dreams actually

pandora: queen of hearts from alice in wonderland

evan: that guy from american horror story. tate langdon……. he also wears the ’normal people scare me’ shirt

barty: the clown from one piece absolutely

regulus: cesare from the cabinet of dr. caligari (my favorite silent film of all time) because hes a PRETENTIOUS LOSER <3

what are your favourite horror movies

what a question to ask me lol. ohhhkay, strap in.

(please note that when you ask me "favourite", that means you get favourite regardless of quality. and you get no tv shows or any such things, strictly movies)

(btw i haven't actually seen that many horror films. many of the iconic franchises especially - chucky, elm street, scream, friday the 13th, texas chainsaw massacre, what have you - just never piqued my interest. maybe some day)

(also these are in no particular order)

1. hellraiser franchise

my working theory is that all "hellraiser" movies are bad movies, but for different reasons. the og from 1987 is a bad movie because it was made on a budget of ten pounds and a packet of crisps. hellraiser 8 is bad because its plot is about a group of teens obsessed with a hellraiser video game getting murdered at a weird sex party. these two are not the same

that being said, i love these movies very much (except for hellraiser 10. i hate hellraiser 10 and will never ever watch it ever again, thank you. no reason) and love to look at pinhead and his many cenobite buddies doing weird kinky shit <3

2. halloween movies (only 1978 and the green trilogy from 2018 onwards)

i haven't seen any of the other ones because i was introduced to the series by my very good friend miri aka @asylos, who showed me those four and no others. and i was like okay :D and just never watched the rest because i don't consume media unless prompted

i'm a basic bitch, i see a man in a jumpsuit and get gender envy, so og twink michael delights me. that being said, old man michael from the green trilogy? CHEF'S KISS. love that fucker. he's the best

3. anything del toro

a lot of his films don't really stay within the constraints of a single genre, but they definitely contain horror elements. my favourite is "the shape of water", which has its moments but is overall not that scary. the pale man from "pan's labyrinth" made quite the impression on me when i first saw the movie because while i had seen the iconic shot of him raising his hands to reveal the Palm Eyes before, i was unaware of the fact that that fucker gets up and shambles around and i was Not Okay with that

crimson peak is very pretty and i love it. for obvious reasons, i think

4. willy's wonderland

nic cage night janitor animatronic murder fight bonanza my beloved. like honestly, i watched the fnaf movie yesterday and it had zero good cleaning montages, wasn't as funny and had fewer bangers, music-wise, than willy's does. like what's the fuckin point

5. fright night 2011

this film has david tennant in it and that's why i watched it. apart from him being an absolutely show-stealing delight, the rest of the film is also a fun romp. there's vampires and stuff

6. bad samaritan

this film ALSO has david tennant in it. he's doing an american accent (a way better one than in "gracepoint", a show that you should Not watch. just watch "broadchurch" instead please, i promise you're not missing anything) and is playing a rich asshole obsessed with horses who abducts and kills women. also he throws a phone out of a car window at two separate occasions and it cracks me up

the main character is played by some actor whose name i can never remember. he's irish or something and i think he might have been in one of those pieces of media i haven't consumed. umbrella academy? was he klaus in umbrella academy? who's klaus?? is klaus FROM umbrella academy? who knows

anyway, the film is a thriller and i quite like watching it. it's tense with zero unnecessary padding, it knows what it's here for and delivers

7. the thing 1982 + 2011

another one i watched with miri. miri likes to show me horror films (and tv shows) a lot <3 we watched both the og and the new one and i quite liked them! the dog in the 82 one is really really good at his job. i highkey struggle with big groups of characters bc i can't remember names and faces for shit, so i was reeeally bad at spotting the Thing. also i liked the teeth thing from the 2011 one that was smart

8. bunny lake is missing

does this count as a horror movie? idk, but i'm putting it here

9. psycho

it's pretty good. i liked it. i think norman would have been a tumblr sexyman if such a thing had existed in the 1960s

10. the one hour long space horror segment trapped in the middle of otherwise meandering artfilm "2001: a space odyssey"

you know the one

11. alien

classic. i haven't seen any of the others apart from "aliens" because the internet said they were bad

12. the abyss

veers closer to sci-fi than horror, but i'm counting it bc it sure is tense. this is a film by james cameron about *checks smudged handwriting* some underwater diving alien nonsense or something. idk, it's been a while since i've watched it. another movie with a big group of characters i can't tell apart for shit, which is why i'm always rooting for some of them to start dying already

i watched this one because i unfortunately am doing a handshake meme with jimmy cameron labelled "hello i am obsessed with the ocean" and unlike me, he has the money to make really long epic films about it

13. the haunting 1963

this is a movie adaptation of "the haunting of hill house" by shirley jackson. it's very good! (if you're familiar with flanagan's netflix show, there are some parts of this movie that will be... quite familiar)

i watched this one with miri, followed immediately by the 1999 remake (?), which i found very strange and occasionally hilarious because of cgi that hasn't stood the test of time. also, i'd like it to be put on record that i fuckin CALLED the thing about the fireplace (somehow lol)

14. rocky horror picture show

my parents showed me this movie when i was maybe a bit too young to see it, at a point in my life where i hadn't quite figured out yet that i was various shades of queer. it sure made an Impression

many years later, i finally got around to watching the sequel, "shock treatment" (thanks to miri, of course) which is very different but also a good time, and has some bangers of its own!

those are all the ones i can think of (and look up in the big movie watchlist google doc miri and i use to keep track of what we've seen so far) without digging through my dvd collection, which i don't feel like doing right now because it'd be a bother.

but just for fun, a few brief honourable mentions:

the shining (i care about shelley duvall and nothing else. so glad she got to punt jack nicholson's character down a flight of stairs with a baseball bat)

black christmas (keir dullea what IS your haircut shgsjfghs)

cabin in the woods (i knew nothing going in and miri was very pleased by this fact)

house on haunted hill 1959 (skeleton lol)

young frankenstein (my parents showed me the german dub version when i was, again, a bit too young for it. iconic movie tbh)

Warrick is afraid of heights and deep space. He just thinks they’re both fucking creepy and would like to have nothing to do with either, thank you.

Jay is afraid of herself. It all boils down to her lack of control over her animal side, and the violent way she tends to lash out when she is stuck as a wolf.

Day 6 - song. Maglor singing his angsty songs on the shore was all I could think abt lol

Day 9 - star. Cliche but star of eärendil + the kidnap family cuz I'm obsessed with them sorry

Day 10 - evil. Annatar & Celembrimbor !! They make me a Bit insane

Day 11 - king - Now the cliché thing would be just aragorn (return of the king is literally about him) but I love the silm too much to not include my elves so. My actual fav drawing in this entire thing !!! Colors!!!!

Day 14 - love. Celeborn + Galadriel getting married in traditional Tang dynasty clothes cuz of Reasons. Last colored one and I love this one too !!

Day 15 - tree. Coming up w something for this was hard but I had just watched fotr extended edition and thought about these parallels

Day 25 - Grow(th) . I had just read Little Bird and had feels about dad Amras w Elwing so I did this lol

Day 27 - fight. A silly joke cuz Turgon fighting his bisexuality is funny to me (the one talking is aredhel btw)

Walking around the carnival you notice the colorfully large pieces of cotton candy the people had all throughout the place. Some are shaped as characters and some are pretty colorful flowers. You went up and down the carnival and found the stand. Seeing the elderly man twirling the cotton candy around “Ace honey, we have to try this!” you said without him his response you tugged his arm as you waited in the line. Your pudgy fingers intertwined with your boyfriend's slender long fingers.

Cotton candy was your weakness and you remembered from your childhood the first time you had it, it stood as one of your favorite treats. Ace saw the excitement in your eyes as you got closer and closer to the front. In his mind, all he could think was ‘god they are so cute.’ his arm wrapping around your shoulder. “Did you decide on what style you wanted?” he asked you. Both of you looked at the display menu and you couldn’t decide at that moment. “Hmmmmm…. It's so hard… What would you choose?!” you were biting on your inner cheek waiting for your freckle-face boyfriend's response. “I think I will go with the flower you get to choose the flavors of the cotton candy. Maybe red, orange and yellow for me.” giving a grin at you. “You make it sound so easy to choose something so fast! They all look so tasty.” You kept looking at the flavors wondering what combos would be the best to try. “Babe you better hurry we are almost up.” there was one more customer in front of you both.

“Ahhh ummmmmm pink, blue, and purple!” you finally exclaimed. When it finally came to your guys' turn, you both ordered your cotton candies. The elderly man began to pour the sugar into the hot center and you started to see the cotton candy strings forming. “That is so amazing!” you watch with your eyes widened. When your order was finally complete you twirled the cotton candy around seeing the pretty colors. Ace was already eating his and when he noticed you didn't touch yours just yet. The sugary candy dissolved in his mouth before he spoke “aren’t you gonna try it ____?” “It's so pretty I can't bring myself to eat it just yet.” giving him pouty lips. Hearing those words fall from your lips gave Ace a chuckle. “What's so funny ?!”

“Nothing, why don't you have some of mine then when you're ready you can eat yours” He pulled a piece of his cotton candy off bringing it to your lips. When finally getting a piece of the heavenly goodness the flavor bursts into your mouth. “Good isn’t it?” he gave you a smile seeing your hands placed on your chubby cheeks savoring the yummy treat.

“That’s really yummy!” you finally decided to take a piece of your own cotton candy and brought it to his lips. “Here, try it!”

Ace bashfully opened his mouth as you placed the cotton candy between his lips when closing he lightly grazed the tip of your finger. When Ace swallowed the yummy treat “It way better when you feed it to me _____.”

Mmmmm. Twiffy headcanons go brrr 👁️👁️ (minor spoilers for bugsnax btw-) OH, and there’s gonna be a couple angst Hcs too, and some hurt/comfort lottaham. be warned, don’t kill me.

•First met wambus at a grocery store during their freshmen year (so around 14-15)

•Okay. Yes. I know. When she says she has 2 left feet, she means that she can’t dance that well, figurative language, yea yea- WHAT ABOUT LITERALLY TOO? IM GIVING HER 2 LEFT FEET.

• “oh I’m fine hon, don’t worry!” *INSERT HER LITERALLY HAVING A HOLE GOING THROUGH HER STOMACH-*

•I feel like one of her stims would be quietly mumbling wamby to herself <3

•has scared the wind out of people before because she can be very quiet. It’s scary. One moment she’ll be in her research tent, and the next? She’ll be right beside you!

•has a HUGE spice tolerance.

•would absolutely love Halloween

•would also smack the shit out of you with a pillow if you woke her up before 8 AM.

(Okay, now it’s time for the big angst/hurt comfort guns)

•Dated someone else for a good 3 years (between ages 16 - 19) before she dated wambus, this said someone else was an absolute selfish piece of sh!t that would act like a full on narcissist, would hurt Triffany verbally and emotionally. Wambus kinda knew about the relationship and would BEG Triffany to leave them. As much as Triffany wanted to be with wambus, she kept getting manipulated by said ex to stay with them, so the first couple times wambus tried separating them, it didn’t work, but once Triffany realized that she was being used, she broke up with them and got with wambus. (Hehehehe, I’m gonna be such a sucka later, I HAVE ANGST LORE)

•Had trouble asking for assistance, expressing her true self, and relaxing due to said ex. After the whole shitshow, Wambus gave Triffany time to heal and recover. He didn’t want her to immediately jump into a relationship after just leaving one, an abusive one to be exact. It took about a month before Triffany was comfortable enough to date wambus, and about 20-25 years later, they’re happy married! (MAN I LOVE SELF PROJECTING)

•Has nights where she can’t sleep because the memories will just come creeping around the corner, and sometimes, it’s obvious; she’ll be trembling like a leaf while staring into space. Wambus already has an entire set of instructions memorized in his head on what to do in this situation, and is going to stay by his wife’s said no matter what.

Roxy's IRL Friends and Their Les Mis Experiences

right so the context is that i have been hyperfixated on les mis for two months and am insufferable and talk about it all the time with my friends, including my really specific in-jokes with myself (javert's 46 upsetting hats that he makes himself, javer'ts hat being huge/trying to eat him, a lot of hat related stuff actually, at this point it's just to make myself laugh), all the seperate canons i maintain (1-2rp canons, 3-5 fic canons, the one where javert personally knows and really hates shadow the hedgehog) and weird fandom bullshit (the one time i saw a piece of fan art that just absolutely snatched montparnasse's waist. good art btw. but just. he was so snatched and it stuck with me). and they just put up with it. so here's the post.

i have this one friend and she saw les mis on the west end in 2017 and remembers almost none of it but the things she DOES remember include: "two different blonde ladies" and at first i was like there are only three women in this show so it narrows it down but it took some prying to discover that these were, in fact, fantine and cosette.

master of the house is only song she recalls. the only song. out of all of the songs. (it objectively slaps but yall know how i feel about stars and she does too, she's read my stars essay). she said that "those guys [the thenardiers] got another song later on for no reason" which like is technically true i guess.

also, according her, "a guy died on a barricade". yes bestie many guys died on a barricade that's like half the fucking story

and she also got a nosebleed halfway through and spend half the show with her head tilted up so she wouldn't bleed everywhere so she didn't see anything. after she told me about this i explained the full plot of Les Miserables (1978) to her because i a, autistic.

but that's it that's all she remembers from the musical. she also insisted on pronouncing javert JAV-ERT for a month just to piss me off. including while i was dressed as him for halloween. i also have a running joke of people mis pronouncing his name but it used to specifically really get to me for some reason. but like i said my friends put up with so much bullshit from me and i get to hear about fallout 4 and sonic in return, neurodivergent people are so powerful.

my OTHER friend knows the plot of les mis and the songs well enough to torment me still further. he has invented a character named Maurice who does not exist at all ever and he brings Maurice up everytime I bring up les mis at the dinner table (which is often, some would say every single day with few excpetions). he says that his "favorite part of les mis is when maurice goes in the sewer and says 'it's mauricin' time' then her maurices all over the sewer" because we decided that's where maurice lives. i hate my friends so much. love those guys.

my OTHER OTHER friend who i know irl and talk to online said to me recently that they "forgot javert wasn't a real guy" which is hilarious and also reminds me that this person has never listened to les mis or consumed any les mis related media and must have such a fucked up idea of the plot at this point oh my god. they have seen all my memes and all my weird fic stuff but just...they do not know the plot. i wonder what they think happens in les mis???????????

and furthermore, some of my friends and i have discovered that like five of us all have special interests/hyperfixations set in France or that are France related in some way, so i have made a handy graph to hekp us keep track. it's not perfect but i love graphs so much. this is what i get for meeting every single one of my friends at the special move-in day for disability services or at special ed high school. only one of us is straight and only one of us is neurotypical, but it's the same guy and we like him anyways. here's the graph, with names removed but anyways the point is i love my friends but we're all terrible autism people. i'm The Crusades, FORMERLY Hamilton and Les Miserables, if you couldn't guess.
