Hello, my dear! Love that you/others enjoyed my thought and rambles! Speaking of emojis, because I'm a bastard, can I be 🍆 anon??? If that's taken, I could also go for 💦 anon?? Also, forgive me for any spelling errors, wrote this at 2 am
* ----------- * ----------- *
Vee's Dom 2: Even More Rambling (because these idiots won't leave me alone)
- If their dom ever become famous, which is likely, and the fans create edits of them, the Vees would absolutely save those vids and watch them over and over again (Imagine walking in on them watching edits of you LMAO, or even you coming over to where they're sitting cause the sound keeps looping and it's obvious that they're watching the same video straight)
- Let's talk about the clothing situation here
* With Vox's freaky ass wanting to keep you close always, it's probably led him to steal your underwear, and might even wear it, but you'll never know. I can also see Val doing the same thing but being hella more shameless, enough to even show YOU that he's wearing them and if you want them back, you better take it off of him
* Velvette probably has taken more comfier clothes, things you would wear for staying in, like old shirts, band tees, or shirts that are well loved
* Valentino has tried, and failed, to return some of the clothes he took. It's kinda hard to take those clothes back considering they look more like rags with how many holes and substances covering it.
- With a built dom
* Velvette will "off-handedly" mention about creating clothes that cater to more muscle-y/bigger builds, and will insist that she needs you to model/do photoshoots for her (she's definitely not using this opportunity just to have more photos of you flexing in HD)
* Vox will 100% build you a personal gym in the tower, but said gym will be covered in cameras/cctvs, all pointed in different directions
* Val would ask you to train his actors, and he will watch supervise said sessions, just to make sure the actors do right (which is totally not a reason for him to watch you flex on his workers)
* Obsessed with pinning Vox to the bed, I bet he'd find it so fucking hot that everytime he tries to close his legs, we just pry them open.
- i know I've talked about punishments, but what about rewards??
* Letting Vox cum as much as he wants (though by the end of it, Vox might start to wonder if it's more of a punishment instead of a reward)
* Willingly let Velvette mess around with some of your clothes/putting you in different fashion designs/putting makeup on your face
* Dare I say even let Valentino call SOME shots during sex, again, SOME shots (do remind him that even if he tops you, he's still your bitch)
- Also rotting in my brain regarding these whores:
* what if you were more powerful in terms of magic/connections/influence/money? (I just know my problems would simply ✨ disappear ✨ if I had a muscle mommy/daddy)
* what if they met you via social media and they immediately hivemind that "yes, this is my dom, right here" ? Like let's say you're an entertainer/dancer right, and one of your viral vids had been a dance to don't go insane (it's the belt dance, boo if you're curious)
* Being in the limelight also means being in the subjective eyes of everyone, and I know for a fact that the Vees have a lot of haters/threats, but what if you protect them from it (bodyguard scenario????)
* ----------- * ----------- *
I forgot to say this during my last ramble, but, If I may, I would love to absolutely read one of your takes regarding my sub!val ideas, but only if you want to/feel for it.
Btw, on a totally unrelated sidenote, I know the blog is primarily hazbin hotel, but I gotta ask, how we feeling about Arcane Sevika?? Cause I am feeling a lot (missing my muscle mommy as fuck bro)
Anywaaays, have a good day!
xoxoxoxo ❤️
This has been in my drafts for almost ALL WEEK and i’m finally coherent enough to give my thoughts!
Can I just say how much I love the Vees with a well built reader. Like I have no real character study-ish explanation for why in my brain i’m like “they’d be obsessed with that.” But I know for a fact it’s absolutely true.
I’m going to focus on your little side notes at the bottom though. So if they met you through social media I feel like you would definitely start off knowing Velvette first. But even before they start talking to you they would absolutely stalk your page and send fucking edits or something back and forth.
But the Vees with a very powerful reader is very interesting to me. Because like while yes, they’d love to be totally on top of hell, but it’s very convenient for them, and hot and hot and hot, to have your support. Because like super powerful big scary respected dom privilege mixed with their constant self entitlement and attitude? And if anyone says anything about it you fucking destroy their status, business, or hell, even them simply because you can. “Do you think you’ll kill for me one day?” “Yes, of course I will, my love” TYPE BEAT AHHH.
And that leads us to the bodyguard idea because jesus christ. Like this is literally such a mix of the well built buff reader and powerful one I just talked about. Also they would argue for your attention 1000% worse in this case.
ALSO CAN I JUST SAY, YOUR SUCH A BASTARD FOR LITERALLY BEING 🍆 ANON. you’re literally DICK ANON. are you proud 🤨🤨

absurdly long tangent/analysis
EDIT FROM THE FUTURE: this isn't to dissuade anyone from interpreting the canon as they want i just wanted to share my personal opinions based on the preexisting canon that may or may not be very passionate, please just have fun do whatever you want none of this is fact
i really hate how utsuho is flanderized to death and constantly boiled down to "the dumb bird girl" because if you actually sit down and Read her dialogue instead of relying on secondhand information you learn quite a few things about her (when i say this is absurdly long i mean it so keep reading at your own risk)
Tumblr media
extrapolating from her own dialogue:
she actually wanted to blow everything up in th11 for real and it wasnt just a "hehe whoops" kind of thing. she was bestowed an extremely powerful ability and deliberately wanted to use it to cause destruction/take over gensokyo
she is extremely knowledgeable about her ability and job (anything related to nuclear power and regulating the flames of blazing hell, or just things about former hell itself)
she takes her job very seriously and supposedly does it very well
but there are a few things that get people: she has poor memory, other characters refer to her as "birdbrained" or "empty-headed, and there are a select few instances of dialogue from hisouten/gouyoku ibun that catch peoples attention. its one of those things where because other characters (and people) say shes stupid, it influences everyone else! in my opinion, i think her own actions straight from the source are much more indicative of who she is rather than the quick judgements of other characters.
=======================
the first major point before i get into the specific dialogue in the fighting games: "kanako needed an empty-headed hell raven, and utsuho fit the bill"
what exactly is meant by "empty-headed"? this is going to be more of an abstraction, so definitely take it with a grain of salt. we dont know much about utsuho before she gained her powers, just that she worked as a lowly hell raven that helped around the palace of the earth spirits/hell. to me, it sounds like an incredibly mind-numbing job that really doesnt require much thinking to begin with, so of course you wouldn't expect some kind of supergenius from it. im also going to go out on a limb and say that utsuho was a candidate for kanako's plan because she's also considered a pet. many unfortunately conclude that pets can't be intelligent, and even the title of "pet" carries the connotation of inferiority. even if she was truly empty-headed as previously suggested, this doesn't mean that she stayed as such with no change at all. when i first played th11, i would have never guessed that she would be "the stupid one".
small note: ZUN's comment on her theme ("even a fool that possesses great power can't cause too much harm")
the problem i have with this is that she really would have caused a lot of harm if the protagonists hadn't stopped her. you could say shes a fool for letting the power get to her head, but objectively i cant exactly point to anything in th11's dialogue/scenarios that suggests she's foolish unless you really want to count bad memory-retention as such. not gonna argue this too hard, but it seems like "fool" is a word thrown around very freely with little thought to how you can actually apply it to a situation.
=======================
IN HISOUTEN: sanae beats her up and afterwards says "youre trying to help me, actually" to which utsuho is like "Oh Ok". you could argue this is probably her dumbest moment, but would you really not follow or listen to the person who defeated you in battle? its not the most defensible point, but she didnt even seem completely oblivious either when she was asking sanae about the incident. my personal interpretation is that she has a bit of a short temper related to how important her job is. there are plenty of other 2hus who are generally sillier than this, it doesnt make much sense why utsuho is the only one who gets this treatment.
IN GOUYOKU IBUN: utsuho doesnt notice reimu before she starts blasting her to bits, which to be fair reimu wears all red in Hell (her fault honestly) + correct me if im wrong but is the power of nuclear fusion not extremely blinding? supporting this, in the events of GI its also implied that shes being overworked due to the oil incident, and we already established that she takes her job very seriously, so to me it makes sense that her first thought is to "remove the contaminant" and to use a lot of her energy in the process. a lot of people in general sometimes get wrapped up in their own work to the point of hyperfocusing, i say the bird can do it too
i also havent brought up the fact that we dont exactly know wtf eating a god does to your brain, whos to say it didnt fuck with you a little bit?
past all of this though i still think utsuho is funny as hell with her particularly bold and uncaring personality, its just that people seem to think that a couple of goofy moments make up her whole character and its just mildly annoying to me.. subterranean animism will probably be my favorite portrayal of utsuho because of how seriously they all treat her (mostly) but overall i wish more touhou fans would actually indulge in the source material and think a bit deeper about this neat little piece of fiction that i am WAY too passionate about (also its just way more fun to look at characters from a complex perspective)

Recent comments on your blog makes me want to request a scenario where Sephiroth learned that darling is an adoptee and also has parental problem, if that's okay with you?
The request is a bit too close to home since I'm also an adopted child, and I used to hate the world just as Sephiroth do (probably still do now, but I somehow slowly manage to outgrow that feeling the older I get). My biological mum didn't want me, I never knew my biological dad. My adoptive parents aren't the best at parenting as I grew up with many physical punishment, and gaslighted into thinking everything is my fault. My childhood were riddled with racism and sexism. SA'd when I was in elementary school. Fear and hatred were the only thing I knew. I have no one to talk to or lean to, and my only escapism was drawing and video games. I remember wishing I could turn into a werewolf and just ripped apart everyone. Silly young me under the influenced of games has too much imagination. But sadly (or luckily), I don't have that kind of power, nor Sephiroth's power, so the world is safe. LoL.
Sephiroth is so relatable for me in many ways, I guess that's part of why I got attached to him and able to see his side of perspective.
Thank you for the request, anon.
You are valid and so is your relatability to Sephy. I understand some people may find it ridiculous to relate to someone "perfect" like Sephiroth, but he is far more human than they realize. Pre AND Post-Nibelheim. But when you spend years being exposed to him as a stock character with only small glimpses of his inner self revealed, this is inevitable.
I appreciate how the EC writers are highlighting his humanity, both the positive and negative aspects, and I think this will help some folks see Sephy is just as complex and multi-dimensional as the other members of the FF7 main cast. He's the Crisis Cutie for a reason! If you are interested, I also written a prompt with Fluffy Sephiroth supporting a darling with anxiety here!
Onwards to the prompt! (Wrote it in bullet points)
Content Warning: Mentions of Abuse and Trauma.
Tumblr media
After finishing the mission debrief with Sephiroth and Lazard, you opened up about your background to Sephiroth.
You had a sudden flashback about your upbringing during the debrief.
Sephiroth had noticed a change in your mood during the debrief and decided to stay back to talk to you.
You tried to mask your sadness, but Sephiroth is no fool. To him, you wear your heart on your sleeve.
Upon hearing about your upbringing, he was taken aback to discover that it was difficult, despite assuming the opposite initially.
He may not be the best at finding the right words to comfort you, but he's willing to be there for you when you need a shoulder to cry on or lend a listening ear.
He has always deeply resonated with you, but your story has subconsciously caused him to experience vicarious trauma.
Mainly because of the similarities he found with your story: he too, had faced a difficult childhood filled with lies and abuse.
However, it also infuriated him you, his precious darling, were subjected to such cruel treatment.
After being there for you, he needed some time alone to reflect on what he learned about you and his own emotions.
You almost regretted telling him your history when you noticed he became slightly distant a few days later.
Upon telling him, he swiftly apologizes and reassures you what you've told him doesn't change his view of you. In fact, it deepened his bond with you.
He was on the verge of sharing his own struggles, especially his longing to discover his true parents, in particular, his mother.
But the words were stuck in his throat. He wasn't ready to share them just yet. Part of him thought it might be meaningless, anyway.
He would be worried about what you thought of it, and he wouldn't want to trigger any unpleasant memories for you.
As you resonated with him as well, you sensed his inner turmoil. You reassured him he could take his time to express his feelings.
You've barely scratched the surface of telling him your difficult upbringing yourself. It's clear that it's hard for both of you to share more.
But you and Sephiroth are there for each other. Your strong bond gave you both the time and space needed to heal and open up to each other.
Hitting a major development checkpoint in your relationship doesn't mean that the journey is over; there is still much comfort and trust to be built between you and him.
But if you stay patient and supportive, then Sephiroth will return that tenfold. The unbreakable bond you share with him will give you two the strength to face the world together. 💜

Depression, Coping Methods, and Genos
Right now, I feel like that one gif of Pedro Pascal laughing and then beginning to sob hysterically. Life is kicking my ass.
But speaking of depression, I wanted to do a little thinking about Genos, and his story.
His life has been pretty dark so far. Losing his childhood to the rampaging cyborg, becoming a cyborg himself.
But these aren't really the only big things that have happened to him. They're just the only events he's realized have had an effect on him.
Since then, he's become very closely involved with a man who has trouble reciprocating those emotions. He's been torn apart and rebuilt numerous times, losing bits of his humanity each times as he becomes more and more of a high tech murder machine.
His strength continues to fail him when he needs it most, meanwhile Saitama's time and attention becomes more and more divided on people he hardly sees as worthy of those things. Worst of all, no one seems to understand him, his goals, or his devotion to Saitama. He's often laughed off and ignored by people who are meant to be his peers, and even Saitama has no real interest in Genos' long winded stories.
That brings us around to his coping methods, one of the more prominent of which is his habit of long winded explanations of topics he finds important. His journey to Saitama, Saitama's time travel endeavor, etc. Aside from that, we have his obligatory journaling, his insistence on having a goal to work towards at any given time, and dependence on being able to respond to any given scenario with the calculated and emotionless precision of a machine.
That last one is arguably the most important, because of how it influences the above. Saitama is a very closed off person, and he expects Genos to respect that- which he does!
To his own detriment.
Genos is completely fine with their terms of agreement, but his overly compliant nature means his needs are ultimately ignored. The methods he's developed to express himself and interact with the world in a way that is comfortable for him are seen as nuisances in Saitama's lifestyle.
Ultimately, none of this seems to have much effect on Genos. At least, not in a traditional manner.
But Genos is not traditional, is he? And depression and anxiety can manifest in many forms.
I would argue that Genos' entire relationship with Saitama is one of the few visible effects of the internal havoc at play.
He seeks refuge and guidance under Saitama as an extension of his need to become strong enough to avenge his village. This leads to him suppressing his habits to conform. The problem is that he isn't Saitama, not even close. This is kind of where we see a devolution of Genos' ability to cope, as he descends into a manic state of endless self destructive behavior, enabled by Saitama's baseless encouragement and Kuseno's ability to fix whatever breaks.
Saitama is not a mentally healthy individual. As a result, any attempt to follow in his footsteps is not going to craft a mentally healthy individual. The problem is that both of these two are emotionally constipated. Saitama has lost connection with his emotions and had little desire to reconnect, and Genos works to shed all proof of his humanity.
We've already seen the end result of Saitama reaching his breaking point. I shudder to think of what will happen when Genos inevitably reaches his.
I feel like there's more to say, but this is getting long winded, and my brain is fried. If anybody has any additions or corrections to make though, I'd love to continue this line of thought, and maybe examine some other characters, since everyone in ONE'S work is mentally unstable in some way.
Thanks for reading!

Hey, I'm the anon who was asking why people are writing Thorin with all these modern quips.
Thank you for your answer and your awesome pictures of Thorin!
I sadly think you may have misunderstood where I was coming from, though.
I never am against people being creative..I have no problem with people expanding their minds to come up with so many different ideas and scenarios. The people reblogging from you made me look like a complete heartless jerk saying that people should be free to write whatever they want and I'm just an oppressor, pretty well.
If anything, my point is, people are always writing fanfic with the same narrow minded ideas..they really aren't as creative as people think.
They are filled with utter political correctness and Marxism. This stuff is more narrow minded than being creative, as we see it in every tv show, movie and video games, even! It's everywhere! But, this is considered creative when this is all we ever see in storytelling? This is why I felt you misunderstood me, and so did everyone else.
If people are being truly creative, they wouldn't keep putting these same ideologies in stories. You know how many Thorin stories I couldn't finish cause the women are usually written as the same tropes over and over again? Always feminists, and just knows how to fight, somehow, or always has an attitude..this is how women are written in pretty well any type of entertainment, these days.
Hope this helps you understand more where I'm coming from.
Tumblr media
(Mandatory Thorin swooning material here.)
Hi again, Anon!
I’m glad you’ve read my reply. Rest assured, I understood everything very well – including the fact what kind of fanfiction tropes you like the most and the ones you don’t. As for the latter, I simply hope that doesn’t include the Thorin fans who have fun together with me whenever I open Thorin’s Ask Box and reply humbly ask our King Under the Mountain to kindly reply to everyone’s questions.
It’s good to know that you didn’t mean to come off like “a complete heartless jerk”. It happens sometimes that we write certain things under the influence of strong emotions and click “send” before taking a deep breath and re-reading what we wrote. I understand, no worries. But I’m sure you see how your words can be interpreted by others. And I’m certain you know — probably even better than me — that proper wording matters a lot, especially in English. Because it is not my first language, I’ve learned to be ultra careful when putting my thoughts into words here on Tumblr (or anywhere in the Internet) — otherwise I can come off as the aforementioned “complete heartless jerk” and no one wants to be that person, right?
If anything like this ever happens again, I’d like you to know that you can always drop in to my ask box and clarify further what you had in mind. I will be happy to convey your reasoning to my followers as I’m doing it now.
Anyway, I’m glad that you decided to clarify your thought process and we went from the initial confusion of “strange gender ideologies” to the problem of the Original Female Characters and their portrayal in fanfiction — which is a very interesting issue worthy of a separate discussion (another one I’d love to have). But let’s dive into your ask.
Tumblr media
(Just look at his majestic profile!)
“If anything, my point is, people are always writing fanfic with the same narrow minded ideas..they really aren't as creative as people think.”
(I have skipped the part about the main popculture categories because it’s a separate topic, but I’d love to discuss it with you on another occasion. I think it would be a very interesting exchange of opinions.)
Let’s focus on fanfiction for now, specifically, Thorin fanfiction because I see we both care for this character a lot.
I’m glad that in your ask you decided to challenge the fanfic writers and encourage them to broaden their horizons and try harder! It’s always good to improve. And speaking of improvement, remember when I said “proper wording matters”? I hope you don’t mind, but I’d like to offer you a piece of advice I got from a good friend once: I’ve learned that it’s best to avoid categorical statements containing words like “always” or “never” when discussing things in public to avoid being misunderstood or coming off as confrontational. Some of the people who will read this may think that you are either offending fic writers on purpose (which I’m sure is not the case) or have a limited knowledge of fanfiction (and you seem like a well-read person). It is much better to say “It feels to me that many people write fanfic with the same narrow-minded ideas because…” (I’d like to hear your reasoning by the way!)
Let’s leave dealing in absolutes to the philosophers and theologians, okay? :)
Now, let’s get back to Thorin fanfiction.
Tumblr media
(Just look at that hair!)
"If people are being truly creative, they wouldn't keep putting these same ideologies in stories. You know how many Thorin stories I couldn't finish cause the women are usually written as the same tropes over and over again? Always feminists, and just knows how to fight, somehow, or always has an attitude..this is how women are written in pretty well any type of entertainment, these days."
I must admit I’m a bit sad that you happen to find only this type of Thorin x OFC fics. At the same time, I have to agree with you that there are certain repetitive tropes and traits that make many OCs boring, or worse, make them look like a Mary Sue. In mainstream media, it is very common to portray a female character as “strong” by putting a sword or gun into her hands, but for me, it is much more interesting to see either this type of physically strong character, but marked by flaws or torn by conflict, or a more feminine type of character whose strength that comes from within. At the same time, I realize that this type of character (“badass girl with a sword”) has become very popular and perhaps that is why I get easily bored by it nowadays, because the world of popculture is oversaturated with them, as you said it yourself. But I believe that a good writer can write a character like this and keep me engaged if there is interesting depth to that OC.
Either way, I totally understand that you may feel tired when seeing this trope, but I also know there are tons and tons of various stories available online though browsing through them may feel like a chore sometimes. But don’t worry, I happen to have read quite a few Thorin fics (it should be clear to you by now that I have no life ;)), and some of them were really good. I have prepared a short list of Thorin fics with interesting protagonists from many different places (ff.net, AO3, Tumblr) — you’ll find it below. I hope that after checking out these stories and reading those stories, you can perhaps feel a bit of relief knowing that there are quite a few interesting female protagonists around.
Here we go (a general warning, many of the fics below contain NSFW scenes):
💕 @technoelfie - check out the Thorin masterlist - stories like The Long Dark and its sequel contain an OFC that is everything but badass, even though she comes from the modern times. And the story is very much canon in all the right places.
💕 Kkolmakov’s fic Me Without You - a perfect example of how you focus on canon, provide the readers with a feminine OC (and Wren, the protagonist, is very far from a classic Mary Sue), and weave an engaging story inspired by Thorin’s works. Check out her other Thorin stories on ff.net, they are full of great ideas!
💕 @legolasbadass - check out the Heart of Gold fic on AO3! The OC is a very complex character and the story of the secret love between her and Thorin in a restrictive Dwarven society relies heavily on canon. Dania, the protagonist, shows us a quiet, resilient type of feminine strength.
💕 @fizzyxcustard - see Fizzy’s Thorin fics here on Tumblr and A Rose at Twilight on AO3. This is a story about a young woman capturing Thorin’s heart against all odds. Again, far from a typical swashbuckling Mary Sue, it focuses on a rather vulnerable character who gets a chance at a new life.
💕 @middleearthpixie - this very prolific writer has more than just a few longfics under her belt. See the whole list here. Stories like In Time or Where I Belong, among others, contain well-rounded OFCs free from the repetitive traits you mentioned.
💕 @thorinstorieswoman - this blog contains a 2-part longfic where the OC is an elf from Rivendell and the issue of elf-Dwarf animosities is addressed in an interesting way without straying outrageously from canon.
💕 @frosticenow wrote A Thread of Life, a companion piece to my art (yes, I may be biased here) that includes another really interesting OFC, a seamstress, and Thorin falling in love with her. You will find great worldbuilding ideas here too and strong focus on the Dwarven culture!
💕 The Queen by Heloise Durin - the story of how the love between Thorin and Queen Heloise blossomed. It is somewhat inspired by real-life events, as the author admits, and the readers can see that a queen can be a strong female character yet her strength does not come from wielding a sword nor from sassy remarks.
💕 Other writers who are known for Thorin fics are @legolaslovely, @deepestfirefun, @dumbassunderthemountain, @fromthedeskoftheraven, @averil-of-fairlea, @xxbyimm, @i-did-not-mean-to, @shiinata-library, @scariusaquarius, @guardianofrivendell @ruthoakenshield and more (if you’re a Thorin fic writer and you’d like to be added here, please let me know!).
💕 Oh, and if you’re tired of the issues you mentioned, like “feminist OCs” and “badass girl OCs”, feel free to check out @lordoftherazzles stories. The main focus is Bagginshield and this is a ship based solely on canon characters free of those characteristics so maybe it will interest you too? Here is Razzy’s AO3 page.
And if you're searching for a classically feminine OFC whose greatest trait is being passive and ogling Thorin, see my story Springtime at the Lonely Mountain.
I hope you'll like at least some of these stories. Feel free to share your thoughts with me! I’m always eager to discuss fanfiction :)
Tumblr media
(Well hello there, handsome king!)
Before I click “send” on this post, I’d like you to ask you something, if you don’t mind. You wrote: “They [fics] are filled with utter political correctness and Marxism.”
I must admit, I’m a bit confused here. Would you be so kind and please explain to me how Thorin fics you encounter (because I assume you were still talking about stories containing this character here) are filled with Marxism? And if you could provide me with some examples/fic links, that would be great! I must admit I have never encountered a truly Marxist Thorin fic (or Dwarf fic) yet. I’m always on the lookout for fresh worldbuilding ideas and uncommon takes on social and economic issues in fanfiction, especially in stories where Dwarves are the main focus. Revolutionary Dwarves? Labor issues, capitalism and communism as concepts developed by the children of Aule? That would be a very interesting read!
The same goes for “political correctness”, by the way. I remember you mentioned earlier that it bothered you when people inserted modern ideas into Middle Earth fics so I’m guessing this is another example of this issue - please please please feel free to give me some juicy examples! I’d really like to hear your take on things and see how you would rewrite such stories or their elements to fit your tastes better! And apart from removing anachronisms from stories, that’s a great exercise in creative writing. By the way, forgive my curiosity, are you a fanfic writer yourself? If so, I’d love to read your stories if you’re willing to share them with me :)
All the best,
Lathalea 💙

My Top Five Least-Favorite “My Two Dads” Episodes
Tumblr media
(As always, these are just my opinions. You may think these are great. Ain’t no shame in that!)
5. Love and Learn
I should love this episode. Nicole learns a lesson, the dads learn a lesson, everyone hugs at the end, and I cry like I’m PMSing. My issue with this episode, though, is that Nicole doesn’t act like herself. Every decision she makes in this episode feels like something Shelby or Nina would do, or some other teenage girl, but not Nicole. She’s always been consistently smart and self-aware, possibly more so than other girls her age, but in this episode she acts like a love-sick puppy. She’s writing bad poetry, she’s sulking in her room, and generally isn’t in character. She’s dated boys that were “bad for her” in other episodes, but always in an obvious and aware “just doing this to get back at her dads” reason. (Heck, the VERY NEXT EPISODE, “You Can Count on Me” shows just how aware Nicole is, when Shelby wants to have sex with a boy she barely knows, and Nicole manages to talk her out of it.)
I also feel like this episode didn’t impress upon Nicole, or the audience, the seriousness of her being fifteen and dating an nineteen year old. And this show was obviously before the present era where this is FAR more taboo, but I feel like the boy should have made the point that what they were doing, even just by kissing, was HIGHLY illegal. I still like elements of this episode, especially the message that Nicole’s dads will always love her, no matter how many mistakes she makes, so it’s not a total loss and that’s why it’s #5. But still not one of my favorites.
4. Who’s on First?
Again, for the most part, this episode is actually alright. It’s more the second half I don’t like than the first. Nicole goes on a date and has her first kiss, something that makes her dads very uncomfortable. After they send Cory to her room to spy on her, they catch them in a very awkward “not what it looks like” scenario. One in which the dads definitely overreact, but I can’t exactly blame them entirely. It did look bad.
After Nicole explains herself, with the Judge as a mediator, the dads realize they should probably learn more about the teenage girl experience. So, they read a book? They talk to moms of Nicole’s friends? NOPE! They decide to go to a “Female Sexual Awakening” seminar (how they thought this would be about puberty is beyond me). And, of course, they act like absolute pigs. With Michael saying a shockingly inappropriate line that I refuse to repeat and I’m surprised they got away with. The lesson of this episode seemed to be more about “men will act like men, women will act like women, and no one should try to do anything different.” The talk they have with Nicole at the end was fairly decent, where they make a vague attempt to say “you can come to us about anything,” but they’ve had better family moments.
3. Getting Smart
I like the overall ATTEMPTED lesson behind this episode, but I don’t truly feel like Michael learned anything, which was what the episode was trying to do.
Nicole begins to think that she shouldn’t act as smart as she is because “boys don’t like smart girls.” Shelby is the one who impresses this on her, but Nicole actually is more influenced by the way her dads talk about their boss, Karen (more on her later in the list). Nicole ends up asking her dads to let her drop back into normal literature instead of being in the advanced class, which they allow, before realizing why she’s done it. Michael’s attitude towards his boss left a bad taste in my mouth, and I really felt like he didn’t change hardly at all, and the room for self-reflection on his part was not taken advantage of.
The episode felt like it ended on a more “agree to disagree” message with Michael and Nicole, which I didn’t really like. Other episodes have done this better, in my opinion, such as “Dirty Dating,” showing that her dads are still the parents and still in charge, but should also always consider Nicole’s feelings and opinions.
2. See You in September?
For those that don’t know, this is the series finale, and most would agree that it was not satisfying in the slightest. Though I can’t find a lot of background information on this, I have a feeling that the creators were told halfway through Season 3 that they wouldn’t be picked up for another season. Characters that got more of a relationship arc were suddenly rushed together for the sake of a happy “heterosexual” ending.
Sarah just happens to be having her wedding in New York, and Joey goes to stop her from getting married. Which actually works! He then makes an uncharacteristically abrupt decision to leave Michael and Nicole and move to San Francisco to be with Sarah and Gracie. And no matter which way you lean on the “are they?/aren’t they?” thing with Michael and Joey, most can see Joey was very against leaving Nicole in “Bye Bye, Baby” (one of Joey’s best episodes). And though Michael has his own love interest at this point (fuck if I can even remember her name), it was all very weirdly abrupt. I’ve only seen the finale once, and once was enough for me.
1. Together We Stand
Remember when I said in another post that this show can be sexist as hell? Well, this is the crowning jewel of these episodes. Michael and Joey have recently been rehired by Mr. Kelcher to run a financial magazine. At first, we think Michael is going to be the boss of their department, but it turns out both men have a new boss named Karen. One that they, but especially Michael, treat like absolute garbage.
I don’t necessarily have a problem with showing workplace sexism in the media; it’s a very real issue, and when handled correctly, can be entertaining and informative. (“Anchorman” does this really well, in my opinion.) But in this episode, our favorite boys are shown to be absolute pigs. And this is never shown to be the “wrong” or “bad” thing to be. They’re seen as right, and they never get any comeuppance. I found no redeemable qualities in this episode and I am quite comfortable throwing the whole thing away. It was the cream of the crap!
Dishonorable Mentions:
* The God of Love: Overall a VERY uncomfortable episode. The whole segment with Nicole talking to Joey’s nude date (AND THE DADS LETTING HER) made me want to barf.
* Crushed: (see my feelings on “Love and Learn.” But with less “meh” enjoyment.)
* The Wedge & Fallen Idol: Solidly fine episodes, I just truly couldn’t care less about Joey’s rockstar friend.
* Who’s Night is it Anyway? & Stupid Macho Guy Time: Jesus, what is with the women in this show? These were bad episodes that make Michael and Joey look like horrible idiots.

Okay, so I'm still working my way to answering my ultimate question: Are Killiks a malicious cult or just built differently (or maybe bits of both)?
I've found the fandom's opinion of Killiks so interesting. Mostly cuz of how different everyone's thoughts are. On one hand, you have people who fully support Vector's choice to stay a joiner. On the other hand, there are people who believe it should be a light side choice to separate him from the hivemind and make him human again.
I'm having a hard time finding what camp I fall in. I really like the idea of a hivemind race that's sole purpose isn't to consume all life, like you see in a lot of media. Maybe they're just living and surviving in a way that makes sense to them, but not to a human.
Vector tells the player character that the Kind never force anyone to become Joiners, but that's directly disproven due to the House Cortess incident. Making Vector a somewhat unreliable narrator. It's even implied that Vector might not have joined the Kind willingly to begin with.
I really want to believe in the best possible version of Killiks, but I keep circling back around to the possible cult-like behaviour. When Vector says he wants to stay a Joiner, how much of that is the Hive's influence?
Clearly, the Hive isn't for everyone. Vector outright says he doesn't think the player character should become a Joiner. So it doesn't feel like trying to get as many living things to become a part of the hivemind kind of situation (but again, is that the Killik or human side of Vector talking? Who knows?)
The writers don't seem to find people joining the hive to be a totally bad thing. It's a light side choice to let Daria Thul stay a joiner and lie to her father about it.
If the Kind were a totally malicious force, wouldn't the light choice be to return Daria to her father and have her turned back into a human?
And to add on to that why would one of the nests teach Vector that “suppress the pheromones” thing if the Killik hivemind really wanted full control over everyone in their collective.
The realistic answer to all this is that SWTOR is a big game. The writing, for as solid as it is, is capable of getting confused.
But that answer is boring and I choose to overanalyse these space bugs instead 💜
A big part of this for me is that's an interesting writing opportunity. I'm currently considering writing a Joiner character into the main Force of Nature story. The discussion around it would be an interesting scenario for my OCs. Characters that are often trying to make good decisions for people they care about, having to approach a situation involving a friend that doesn't have a solid "right answer" to pick.

I love your art style and your portrayals of the characters in general, but the way you draw diavolo in particular is so fucking cute. Love the dynamic Dani has with everyone! Question: going off from the anon with the pact mark theory, what kind of person would they be willing to make a pact with, if at all? What would be the conditions?
Warning: Mentions of addiction, alcohol, bad influences and toxic traits. IDK what to tag this other than to tell you Demon Daniel is just a really bad person. Also, to this day I still don't know WHAT demons get out of pacts with humans. So I've come up with my own reasoning to answer this. I'm still unsure of it though, might change it in the future.
I can't think of many scenarios where they would willingly make a pact with a human. (But I also still just don't get what demons get out of forming pacts? Is it like dibs on the soul when they die or...)
So then, a pact. So the human can order them around? In exchange for...? Nothing? Nah. Have you seen how many pubs there are just in Ireland? Even to a long-lived demon, it is an arduous task to visit them all. They're busy.
I guess if they fell for the human? But most if not all humans they meet, it's while the demon is on task to lead them down the path of self destruction. (Yanno, "for funsies". And free drinks.)
Tumblr media
Up ahead: A long winded ramble about demon Daniel that I ended up writing but I kind of missed the point of the question somewhere. So it’s just, a comparison between Human Dani and the Avatar of Vice and stuff.
To answer this I should first go into the key differences between human Dani and The Avatar of Vice. (first I'll say that Demon Dani is not an AU I've taken seriously enough to flesh out much, just had a fun string of "what if" thoughts about, hahah).
Dani isn't proud of their vice and self destructive habits. They have no interest in sharing them with other people, it's the last thing they'd want. You'll never hear them encourage someone to try alcohol, for example. Whether that person drinks it or not. They hate peer pressure from both ends and generally try to defuse such situations. Won't do anything of the sort in the presence of Luke, or most people. Socially, only under the condition of "ok, yeah, I know these people, and everyone here is old and responsible enough to get shitfaced every once in a while"
Daniel is upfront about their asexuality. Not very open, it's not something they'd declare to a room of people, because it's noone's business. But they'll never deny it. It is something they will state 1 on 1 with someone if it's deemed relevant, like if the subject comes up for example. They are frank about it but have no want to display it.
Vice itself though? Different story. Vice is their element. Their normalcy, more than a sometimes questionable source of comfort. And they delight in tempting people with it. Picking up hints, all to find an opening. The sort of shitbag that patiently looks for and finds the weakness in a person's resolve, and carefully, methodically, dismantles it. All the while telling their victim exactly what they want to hear.
They will not only do it all, it will also happen as the other person is inviting the drinks. And that is simply hilarious to them.
They are also asexual, but ,♡☆*toxic*☆♡ about it too. They will hide it, even when they don't need to, and lead people on intentionally (whenever some poor fool with god forsaken taste feels attracted to them), and reject their advances last minute. They consider the person's disappointment another form of self destruction, since it was that person's decisions to put those expectations on Daniel. It's not the demon's fault that it's so fun to topple those expectations like a house of cards!
And how long will this go on for? Well, as long as the demon is entertained. It could be a couple hours sitting at a bar, a couple months egging you on to do street races until you crash, a couple years betting daily at the casino, etc...
So who would ever want to wield that power? Who could find a target for it? Someone with enemies probably. But what's in it for the demon? Only a soul will do.
So it would have to be someone cruel enough to want this sort of card in their hand for some reason. Who is willing to part with their soul. This particular demon cares not whether the soul is pure or corrupted (and well, most people who would want a pact with them probably are the latter). It's the act of a person choosing to part from it, and losing it, one of the ultimate forms of self destruction, that they seek. But the realms are so full of people sabotaging themselves already, so they really don't feel any urge to form pacts. Specially if the human seems like someone who would order them around and be annoying. Hard pass on that.

Gauging interest for something...
Hey everyone, I thought I'd put up something of a poll that might bring something of a change for both I Dream of Twilight Sparkle and Geniequestria.
Asks and/or Submissions have become so rare at least from my side of Tumblr. And I miss having some sort of community input. Right now both IDOTS and Geniequestria seem to be just on my part... putting up the next story... but I don't want the more small-talk and/or interaction to just disappear. As such...
What I'm considering, is opening sideblogs each for both IDOTS and Geniequestria. Where they are purely roleplay blogs with text only replies to questions and/or interactions. I know it may be odd to just now have a more public roleplay come into play for IDOTS when the blog is more than a decade old. But it also provides some opportunity to sort of flesh out further and/or put up some more awareness of the AUs that take up both I Dream of Twilight Sparkle and Geniequestria each.
Though one more thing I want to note before getting to the details. I am a bit... nervous about opening up roleplay to both so publicly. As I know some roleplays can end up with nasty behavior. If I feel like someone is starting to be too mean or too attempting to be controlling of where a story is going. I withhold a right to end an interaction at any moment. Please be kind and considerate as possible. If this turns out to be more trouble than it's worth, I also withhold the right to just deactivate the roleplay side blogs. But I certainly hope it never has to come to that.
If you're interested enough, I want to make them separate blogs so they don't clutter the main pages since I know some roleplays can come across many, many, many reblogs. Wouldn't want those who just want to see the stories and/or asks I've done for both, and have to climb through pages of roleplay. And as for how each would work...
If I Dream of Twilight Sparkle gets a roleplay spin-off blog...
It'd open up for many of the characters in the IDOTS/Ask Genie Twilight universe. It wouldn't just be with Genie Twilight, Spike, and/or Starlight. Recent stories has made it so a much larger cast is capable of being interacted with. Just name a character (Though preferably a recurring canon character, one of the few OC's that are involved in IDOTS, or significant one-shot characters that I've featured in recent stories) and I can see what I can do
Maybe even some room to expand towards the Genie Pinkie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Sci-Twi from Ain't Never Had Friends Like Us as well if it's requested.
These would be mostly wholesome interactions. Many of which that would fit in line with the show. Although certainly some subjects could go dark (Ex: Talking to any of the spirits of the deceased like Applejack's parents about death for example) in tone.
Also, if you've been paying attention to the recent Earnest Empathetic Change story. You'd see that there's a timeskip by about 10 years. You won't be restricted to these future versions of the characters however. If you want to specifically talk to a more... present day version of the character (As in Post-S9 and probably shortly after Secrets of the Dragon's Tear) you'd fully have that option.
Just pick a character you'd like to interact with from the IDOTS AU, decide whether you want the Post-Ending of the End/SOTDT version or the 10 year timeskip version of the characters depicted in Earnest Empathetic Change. And we can arrange something.
If Geniequestria gets a roleplay spin-off blog...
It'd fall under many of the same rules that are in the pinned post over on Geniequestria. Although one big difference is, there's no promises that the interactions are canon to the story if you're portraying a character that hasn't had a story yet on Geniequestria. They may at least influence something whenever a certain character is brought up. But otherwise many canon character interactions with a Geniequestria genie would be more like a what if scenario that may or may not come to play later. (For any G5 fans who are roleplayers, yes this opens up the what if scenario depicted in the story from last September when the Mane 5 were genified as a possible scenario)
And if an OC is interacting with a Geniequestria character. Especially if it's with one of the genies. The interaction is mainly going to be about getting them to genify your OC. Potentially, this could result in eventually a visualization of your OC as a genie made by myself. But I can't promise that'd come too quickly after we've interacted. And just like how I mentioned in the pinned post, if I end up visualizing your OC as a genie. I will do only one of them. Do not roleplay with me purely to get all your OCs genified with sprite art.
As for what characters would be opened up. Basically anyone who's currently a genie (Which you can check over here to see who is, though it's everyone but Nova and Ember currently. As those are friends of mine's OCs). You do have the option of interacting with some of the non-genies. But I'm unsure if anyone would be going to interact with an AU called Geniequestria if they weren't here to speak to the genies. I figure that's kind of the main draw for interactions, especially as more and more characters are genified.
Many of the same do's or do not's are in play as in the pinned post. No god-modding your OC out of genification, or no helping the remaining non-genie members of the Mane 6 after genification. OCs are still not allowed to impact the main story too much. Even if it's in-character for your OC to disagree with Starlight's methods per se. It's not up to them to get her to change. And fighting her post-genification would only lead to a stalemate. (And in most cases, your OC should feel too good to outright deny everything Starlight says. That's kind of the nature of genifications in Geniequestria. Even the most reluctant change their tune once they've felt the transformation)
The tone of Geniequestria to far more mature subjects that are normally too much for IDOTS. But I also must warn that I don't want to go too far off the handle. Even as it seems Tumblr has sort of let-up in some regards to mature content. What with the whole "Are you sure?" screens. I don't want to get involved with roleplays involving explicit descriptions of sex, nor any mention of genitals or er... certain bodily fluids. Try to keep it in tone with Geniequestria stories where yes, naughtiness gets very much implied... but never too explicitly described and/or happening offscreen.
Also, reminder that any filly and colt-aged character was aged up by a wish in an earlier part of the story. And all male characters are Rule 63'd/become mares before or at the same time that they're transformed into genies. Any and all characters involved in the genification part of Geniequestria will become adult mares as Genies. That's a strict rule that I hope can be abided. In short... No filly-aged genies, and no male genies once transformed.
________________________________________
Anyhow, I can now show the poll. I'd like your feedback if any of you would be interested in either of these.

this "system" only works as long you assume that alaina's judgement is always fair and impartial or that she'd never just lie that someone is a rapist just to have an excuse to kill them... both of which we know abundantly is not the clase. she has never shown to be that kind of person or character. the implication here is that alaina's so terrifying and so imposing that no one would dare to combat her, which basically means that alaina is free to kill whoever she wants without warning, without trial and everyone just goes along with it because they don't want to be killed too, not because they think that alaina had an actual reason. this is a dictatorship and a horrifyingly distopian one at that. but another problem i see with this is... let's assume for a second that alaina tries to be impartial and just deliver justice when it's necesary. how does reading mind help at all when the person who gets accused doesn't think there was any rape? what happens to those people who lie so much that they believe on their own lies? (like LO does) futhermore, as a victim, would you really feel safe on this situation? how would you know that if alaina for whatever reason believes your rapist, she won't kill you too just for making her waste her time? there's no trial so you don't have a chance to defend yourself. maybe you as a victim never liked alaina, always thought she was a terrible influence for the Empire, always had ideas about how you despise Sith (after all, they were the fascist that made everything bad before) and what if alaina reads that and tell everyone that you were the attacker just to have an excuse to kill you? a victim would have to trust on alaina, which not everyone will do, and alaina will have to want to vouch for this person, which we have no garantee she'll do if she personally despises the victim for whatever reason. lastly, what if you as a victim do not want to feel responsible for the death of your rapist? i know that for LO it's part of the power fantasy getting to kill everyone who wronged her, and i don't necesarily blame her for that, but she quickly forgets that not everyone is like that. some victims really just want to be left alone, they don't want to cause any harm to anyone, not even those that harmed them. there's many complex reason why people stay in abusive relationships and likewise there are for why victims won't talk about what happened to them. since LO claims to have been on such a horrifyingly abusive relationship for years you'd think she'd know this already. some victims will endure anything if that means they won't have to be responsible for someone's death. this system is the exact kind of scenario where that will happen.

Hi I've been seeing you talk abt it a lot and it's piqued my interest- what's Caligula effect?
Oh hey i'm glad i picked your interest. Caligula Effect is a videogame from 2016 that got a remake in 2018 Caligula Effect Overdose, this is the one you should go with as is the most complete. I got interested in it because Takuya Yamanaka, the writer in Milgram directed the game, Deco27 also worked as one of the composers for the game, which i think is how they met. There's also a second game Caligula Effect 2 which Yamanaka was more involved with as he was diector, producer and main writer of the game.
As for the plot of the game, it's about this virtual world called Mobius where people can go to escape the real world. In this world everyone becomes a high school student and doesn't age, and all their wishes become reality (well kind of). This world was created by a virtuadoll (basically just a vocaloid) called µ (basically this world's hatsune miku) who made this place to help people who were hurt by the real world. There's this group of students who call themseleves the Go-Home Club who realized this world is fake and want to find a way to go back to the real world. On the opposite side there's also the Ostinato Musicians, a group of people who work with µ in order to stop the Go-Home Club because they don't want anyone to escape.
You as the main character start the game with the club but can join the musicians later as well, then the game will have segments where you play as the president of the club or as a musician and you can have all those characters as party members and get to know the characters through their Character Scenarios, which are basically like the social links from Persona but a little less complicated. These scenarios also have a lot of influence on each other and even the main story in the case of two characters.
I haven't finished the playthrough i'm watching yet but i do like it so far, though it does start very slow imo i didn't really get that invested until the fourth dungeon. I will say though the game discusses heavy topics, but i do want to mention two things that can definetely stop someone from enjoying the game. First, there is a canon trans character as part of the musicians, and i think the way she's treated in the main story is not...very good? First off because the way you find out she is trans is because she's outed by someone from the main party during her dungeon, and after this many of the characters misgender her and make transphobic comments about her (even WAY after her dungeon's done), which i do think at least during her dungeon this was intentional in order to portray her hardships (because honestly these characters can be REAL assholes), but then they make jokes about her and even among the musicians she is STILL treated badly by the others and it's just tiring, especially because her character scenario IS genuinely really good and actually addresses many of these things that the main story does but you don't really get to see these things being properly talked about in the main story. I haven't finished the game tho and i think there's a few things later that will more properly address this aspect of her but it can be very uncomfortable. Second thing is that one of the musicians is...a creep, his name is a pun on the pronunciation of the word "stalk" and his dungeon is a public bathhouse. I think you can get where i'm going with this this. His whole thing is that he's a pervert and likes to peep on other women and you see him doing this multiple times during his dungeon. Anyways, as with all the musicians you can interact with him after his dungeon and do his scenario and all that, which i hate because he's still the same afterwards, i already didn't like him when he was first introduced, i thought hey maybe his scenario will show me something interesting, haha no learning more about him and how he was in the real world made me hate him even more. Even if some of the things discussed in his scenario were interesting i don't care, he's gross and creepy and he should be in jail like ayana said. Both of these characters are the bosses in the second and third dungeon, which is why i said the beggining can be hard to get into.
Aside from that, the soundtrack is awesome, and i do like most of the characters, i haven't finished it yet so obviously i still don't know how everything will end but i have been enjoying it. It's also very fun to find some similar themes to the ones in milgram. If you're interested in it i can link you to a playthrough of the game if you want, let me know!!

Boscha character rewrite
Here is the reddit version of this https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOwlHouse/comments/wgcxpv/boscha_character_rewrite/  Here is an idea for a rewrite of Boscha's character based on their idea. Actually, it's more of an expansion of her character but still...
Anyways, it all starts with Wing it Like Witches. I'll starts around sometime after the grudgby match, not right after thought, maybe a little while, maybe a couple of weeks. At some point, Boscha's posse along with other people from school will eventually get fed up with Boscha's behavior and then dip on her. Boscha's posse will cut ties with her and have their own friend group together without Boscha. Maybe they could even on occasion hang with the Hexsquad. Boscha's gang aren't really bad people, just misguided who need positive influences.  While Willow's reputation populairty will skyrocket, Boscha's will absolutely collapse to rock bottom.  Boscha will have no friends, and lose every ounce of respect the students have for her. Boscha will get ostracized by everyone, getting a taste of karma by getting a dose of her own medicine. This will position Boscha at her lowest.
Boscha would likely eventually quit the grudgby team and if that bad, stops coming to school because of having to deal with the consequences of her actions and having to deal with the school hating her. She seems to weigh her self-worth based on her popularity and how many trophies she has. With nobody, she feels like nobody.
Okay, this is when I eventually do some substitutions of the Golden Guard stuff. This takes around the end of the season 1 finale after Lilith fell from grace in the Emperors coven and she and Amity lost their respect for Belos and is now against him. Eventually, Boscha gets an invite to an apprenticeship at the Emperors Coven to eventually become a covenhead for the coven. Boscha decided to take that opportunity without question. After all, its a big honor to be selected to get in the Emperors Coven, or even get an apprenticeship there. She had nothing to lose after all the damage she dealt at Hexside and all the friends and respect from others she lost. This can give Boscha a chance to climb up the ranks and eventually gain some sort of superiority over others on a larger scale.
This can be able to show the viewers some "What if" scenarios. It would be able to make a good story parallels between Boscha and Amity, two sides of the same coin. They were first introduced as two mean girls who are popular and bullied the weak but eventually after late season 1 chose different paths showing what would happen if choosing either one of those paths. Boscha can act as an example of what Amity would of become if not changed her ways and try and make up for those misdeeds. Boscha would have been the final product if Amity hasn't met Luz.
Anyways back to the rewrite. Boscha would be doing her apprenticeship at the EC.  She doesn't enjoy what she does but she does like the praise she receives if she pleases the EC with her work. This will once again show how her self-esteem runs on praise and compliments. This can lead to the Hexsquad now having complex feelings about the whole matter. They would have several interactions with her as maybe some sort of threat or something but also see that even though she likes the showering of compliments she gets when doing something right, she doesn't enjoy what she does in EC under the apprenticeship. This can also give us the viewers too have very mixed and complex feelings about Boscha. Eventually Boscha over time pieces together the true intensions of the EC's motives and the Day of Unity, this can make her never see the EC the same again, and then eventually escapes but doesn't really have anywhere to go except home. Though she worries about having to face having to bump into former classmates that she had hurt so technically she has nowhere to go. This could have the potential to make a very interesting redemption arc and it wouldn't feel like its copying Amity, and instead have a more original sort of take on a redemption arc
Her redemption could end in a couple ways. She either joins the Hexsquad, or she could just be independent doing her own thing not siding with Luz or Belos.
Anyways, what do you think of Boscha's rewrite/expansion? Do you agree with these ideas? Do you have your ideas of your own take on it? I'm still trying to figure out a backstory for Boscha with why she weighs how much she is worth based on popularity, trophies, etc so do you guys have any ideas for that? Also, I still need an idea of how she gets her crab palisman, Maya, any ideas for that? Lemme know your thoughts in the comment section below.

i enjoyed your thoughts on the other enstars unit yandere sharing potential so much omf. it is so true. i find it hard to put a finger on wataru's personality but i feel like he could be an intense yandere if he did find someone he liked a lot. yandere fine could be very scary. as for yuzuru, wataru did say that he had a hidden side to him and maybe cleaning is his way of gaining some control. so i think yandere yuzuru could be fun to see. i also really can't see trickstar or switch sharing lmaooo, probably can only see natsume having yandere potential. as for crazy:b, rinne could be a problematic one, but i haven't seen yandere himeru before, now i am a little curious though! i love your writings i have been here since the start :”-) happy to see you are back to your requests, take a break whenever you need to ^^
Man, immediate feedback like this so nice, not gonna lie sjsjs I'm glad you enjoyed it and even stuck around for so long 🥺💕
Yeaaahh Wataru is difficult because he himself tries to put on an act ( I think he said something that amounts to that in Detectives vs phantom Thieves) and like!! That's so interesting and makes me like you as a character but bby please how am I supposed to characterize you? 😭 It's difficult but I feel like with his grand personality and also acting talent he could make for a very formidable yandere!
Oooh Yuzuru having a dark side😳 I haven't read too many stories with fine but I'm not too surprised honestly. I always thought that there was no way that he was just a good, obedient butler to Tori and nothing else. I always thought there was something hiding behind that face djdjd
I feel like in a yandere fine scenario Yuzuru might be the one actually *doing* all the dirty work. Liek Tori and Eichi pull the strings and influence others with their words or money to do what they want but then Yuzuru would be the person to *do* that stuff. He's fought in a war before, surely he could get rid of a measely pest bothering you? Of course he's very good at cleanup too!
Yeahhh Natsume is probably the one with the most yandere potential among that group, I feel like Trickstar and Sora in particular are so difficult to imagine as yanderes. Might be interesting to try and find a trait of them to twist into that mindset once I've read more of their stories? Someone you never thought to be a yandere could be interesting to write and read about imo. Maybe something to keep in mind
Rinne is the problem child as always, what can I say? Lmao
He's way smarter than he lets on though so I feel darling might underestimate him because of how he usually acts and that might not end well for them😔
I don't think I've seen yandere HiMERU either? Probably because he's also a kind of mysterious character and hard to pin down? I also heard there were some certain *developments* in an event recently that basically shook up what everyone thought they knew about him so that makes me even more scared to try and make yandere headcanons for him sjdhdh

little women, ep. 1
Tumblr media
When I first watched the trailer for Little Women, I was intrigued by the premise of struggling sisters navigating the mystery around a huge amount of money, and how it changes the lives of these three “little women” in the midst of big people with power, connections, and wealth. It’s not entirely a new concept, but I am such a sucker for kdrama sister portrayals that this was a no-brainer addition to my to watch list.
Sure, one can first get caught with matching the characters and scenarios with the Louisa May Alcott source material (who’s the Jo? the Amy? the Meg? the Laurie? etc.), but by the second half of the first episode, you get the sense of considering the story on its own.
And it’s good. It’s so good! I don’t expect myself to be able to sustain an entire series review, but I’d like to be able to take notes along the way. It feels like it’s going to be a great watch ahead, and I just want to make something out of my excitement. That said, be warned that the series in itself has a lot of violence, which might come up in these recaps, hence the tw tag.
Tumblr media
We begin with our three sisters: the Meg, the Jo, and the Amy. Poor Beth, no counterpart in here. Or maybe there’s more we don’t know, because mysterious baby picture, anyone?
Tumblr media
Among everyone, it’s Kim Go-eun that I was really looking forward to the most. I have never watched her past dramas, but I’ve been itching to see any of her work, and I felt that this role might just be too good to pass. I love the seeming naïveté of her Meg, whose Cinderella fantasies of getting married and being whisked away from poverty translates fittingly into our series’ Oh In-joo, dowdy green vest and tacky tulle skirt included. At home with her sisters, though, she can be straightforward and determined behind the smiley and meek behavior she shows outside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she cried upon seeing the contents of the duffel bag her friend, Jin Hwa-young (played by Choo Ja-hyun), left her, I felt as if we were witnessing only the initial unraveling of her character.
Tumblr media
Nam Ji-hyun as Oh In-kyung is also riveting. This is my third Nam Ji-hyun drama and the other two had her as the childhood-friend-and-fated-endgame of a wealthy amnesiac. Here In-kyung is barefaced, buttoned up, but not quite sober. She’s an investigative reporter with a deep empathy for people, and a righteous understanding of the pitfalls of wealth.
Tumblr media
I loved her scene with Great Aunt Oh. They’re just having breakfast and talking, but the way this was set up made me wonder if we’re supposed to look at how In-kyung was influenced by her aunt despite not having had the warmest upbringing.
Tumblr media
Great Aunt also meddles in her love life, and we see the Laurie for this series, too. It’s Kang Hoon as Ha Jong-ho. When they met each other under aunt’s ruse of bringing a mistakenly delivered package, we understand that there’s history between them. In-kyung is at the tail of a highly tense investigation, and we can wonder how this might affect their relationship as the series moves forward.
Tumblr media
I don’t have much to say about Park Ji-hu’s Oh In-hye just yet, except that I can certainly understand her wanting to make her own money after seeing her sisters toil to provide for their family. She’s ambitious and gritty and I cannot help but wonder where the story will take her character, especially with her association with who seems to be Park Jae-sang’s wife and daughter.
Tumblr media
Wi Ha-joon is another actor I was excited to see in this series. I thought his character in Romance is a Bonus Book was compelling enough. His role as Cho Do-il is obviously different so I also cannot wait to find out more about him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems orchids is a recurring motif in this show. From trying to google ‘princess of thieves orchid’, I saw some twitter threads on the repeating symbolism of this flower on the show. Since I’m behind watching, I didn’t read too far and suspended spoilers. Anyway… too many orchids. From the orchids in the office in the 14th floor to…
Tumblr media
the blue orchid tattoo…
Tumblr media
the wallpaper in Hwa-young’s apartment (excellent mirror-threshold blocking, by the way)…
Tumblr media
a blue orchid beside her fishtank…
Tumblr media
and a blue orchid brooch on the suit of Park Jae-sang (played by Um Ki-joon). Yikes… Personally, I think orchids are also an appropriate motif in a tight environment of power and wealth. Orchids are expensive and requires a lot of precise care.
Tumblr media
I cannot wait for the sisters to tie up the associations together. The context surrounding Hwa-young’s death becomes even more sinister in light of In-kyung’s investigation on the four money-related suicides from the Bobae Savings Bank Case.
Finally, what will In-joo do with the money that landed on her via yoga locker? Director Shin Hyeon-Min is after the slush fund, and it seems In-joo is in it now, too. Not to mention, she signed an account opening form for Hwa-young, so it seems like the money in the bag is not all there is to it.

IF you let me step in a bit, I think more than ethical consumption is that people understand the issues while still being allowed to enjoy the story. Not just BLs but media in general is full of so many ethical contradictions or offensive tropes, murder, violence, but the difference is knowing you won't take this to real life and applaud it. You won't excuse this behaviour in real life and BLs Do not have that line between reality and fiction. Most fans will defend their fave's actions with ooc comments and actually do not separate fiction from reality.
One clear example is how people ship the actors, how the actors are obligated to do fan service to mantain the image they are together for the fan's wet dreams. As well, BLs content is in main capacity linked to dubious consent with not plot reason other than romantized it. BLs usually have no plot other than boys kissing, that's why the college/worker story is always the same and is rare to find good plot BLs. I would say there are a few exceptions that actually spend time on their scripts, on their plots, on their acting but the vast majority is made to just have boys attempt kissing.
That's why I agree with you, there is not ethical way of consuming BL and pretending you have a moral ground there. The whole concept is to sexualize queer characters in the first place.
In a perfect world, we hope that fans are intellectually aware enough to refrain from internalizing the things that they're exposed to via media consumption. That's in a perfect world and in a perfect scenario. Unfortunately, that's not what happens. People are often conditioned by what they see and that internalization is subconscious but powerful. For example, it's like when you have someone who watches a certain biased news channel and they watch it like clockwork. Instead of them watching it to keep them abreast of world news, they form beliefs and values based on what's being told to them via this biased news channel. Their entire belief system is formed from this one thing and they believe everything they're seeing and hearing without question. That's a more real world, real life scenario but the same thing happens in fictional scenarios too.
It's like when the 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon took the world by storm and everyone was suddenly into BDSM. In a perfect world, you would have expected this to open the door to other lifestyles and allow a discussion about alternative sexual practices to take place in the mainstream. What actually happened is you had people running around pretending to be "Dominants" and hurting other people who knew little to nothing about that lifestyle aside from what they saw in this movie. You had people being assaulted and worse because they took what they saw and tried to recreate it without actually doing their research.
We would hope there is some deep thought and examination taking place but people aren't that smart. People are easily influenced. Most people don't actually deconstruct what they receive from the media they consume. They don't think about it. They receive it and then they never take it apart to see what the underlying message is truly about. Then again, most BL dramas aren't that deep to begin with. Most of these dramas are shallow, surface level bullshit where there is no message but tha doesn't mean there isn't some gross and disgusting things taking place at the same time.
Again, I don't mind the more shallow shows and I even enjoy some of them sometimes but I want these writers to pick a lane here. You can't decide to produce a show with shallow content while having sexual assault/rape taking place too. You can't have both. You need to decide what side of the fence you're on. At the end of the day, the more serious topics cannot be something these dramas are playing off for shits and giggles. And if they can include something as heavy as what's mentioned above, then they have no excuse as to why they can't include more meaty, intricate plots into these stories. If you can include sexual assault/rape, then you can write a story that doesn't revolve around "Oh my God, I'm obsessed with the most popular guy in school and I'm a shy, quirky nerd. 😜"
But it does boil down to what you mentioned - it's about the sexualization (and even fetishization to be frank) of LGBT+ characters, specifically gay/bisexual male characters in this case. They're more concerned with putting these characters in sexual situations and they don't care how they do it just as long as they do it. Plus, the absolute meltdowns that take place from fans when their fave comes out as straight. Oh, the irony! The worst thing that can happen in this fandom (based on what I've noticed and personally experienced) is if one of the actors has a girlfriend. People create entire hate campaigns once that happens. It just goes to show that a lot of these fans don't know how to separate fiction and reality. They don't and it's troubling to think about; if they can't even do so when it comes to the very real lives of these actors, then what do you think is happening when it comes to the more heavy shit that's taking place in these shows like the dubious consent and nonconsensual scenes?

Hey, question. I briefly thought about this, but would it be rude if you were to rewrite a fic but change the pronouns in it?(With proper credit ofc)
Just, there are so many good fics I've started reading that i actually started to enjoy, only to get hit with feminine pronouns/pet names out of nowhere and it's honestly frustrating(ESPECIALLY in exo/terato fics)
So yeah, i just want to make fics more enjoyable for me/gender neutral(?) People
Short answer: Honestly? My take, not anyone else's, is check with the original writer if they are okay with that. Some may be fine with it, others may not. I think doing it without permission/consent is rude, even if you provide proper credit. If you have permission/consent from the original creator, it's fine.
Ultimately, the only person who can cater to your specific experience is you. Just because a writing doesn't not suit you that does not mean there wasn't a reason it was written that way in the first place.
Long unpacked answer:
1 - Not everyone wants their work reproduced elsewhere by someone else (I don't, for example), and that should be respected, both from a 'show respect to the writer's wishes' perspective but also a legal one with copyright.
Fanfiction or writing a story inspired by something else is one thing, but you are talking about directly taking and reproducing someone else's writing. That's already thorny, even if you have a good reason and provide credit to the original, in the same way that for example, I don't know, reposting someone else's gif with the words translated into a different language is thorny. There are good reasons for doing it, but in that scenario you wouldn't have put the considerable effort into making the gif, but would still likely be benefiting from the notes/feedback instead of the original creator. Credit helps because people who are inclined to do so can find the original, but not everyone is going to bother to click that link, so it doesn't completely negate the issue.
2 - You don't necessarily know the thought process behind the characters, which may impact on if the writer says yes or no if you ask their permission, an influences the story.
For example, this tumblr of mine doesn't focus on in-depth character creation, because ultimately they are quick snippets that I post on the internet that are designed for people to get into the story as swiftly as possible for a splash of short term gratification. This means that the gender/pronouns could usually swing either way from gender neutral if it ever needed to, because I don't usually put enough specific detail into the characters in the first place. Nothing I therefore write on tumblr (or even Patreon to a certain extent) is me doing character creation/story writing in the way I do it for my novels, AKA from the start and with a detailed plan, leading to... The point is that when someone is doing full on character creation, often gender is part of the character or the story. The way we present ourselves does shape our experiences and the stories that we tell. People treat men and women differently in both our contemporary world and in a lot of fictional universes, and outside the story the background of representation the character's identity brings to the story can shift how the reader engages with what is happening. Your ask exemplifies that, because you react differently to feminine presenting characters. Changing the pronouns/gender does therefore reasonably change the character, and their experiences, in a work with more specific/detailed characters. Mean Girls with a male set of plastics? Different story. The commentary behind the characters crumble if they're not women because it is dealing with something very specifically feminine. Women also have a specific history with monstrosity, which impacts engagement with this particular topic. Which leads to...depending on the story, sometimes a character is a specific gender for a reason. This may be a personal reason to the writer because they are writing based on their experiences/desires, or it may be part of the structural set up/themes that the story is trying to tackle. This ultimately means that pronouns cannot necessarily be changed in a vacuum, without impacting other parts of the story or character construction. I know the genderbend rule is famous on the internet, so I'm not saying its impossible, but there are elements to consider when adapting anything and changing the pronoun is a form of adapting the original. Which is why I would say that you need to get the original writer's permission, and why I would consider it rude to go and change someone's story without their consent.
I appreciate that you have a good reason for wanting to change the pronouns, but ultimately it is not your story so it does come down to the author's permission.
