What can I say....what a night it has been and I do not know where to start. It is 02.15 am here in the UK but I won't be sleeping for a while. Too much to process.

Alex has pulled some things out of his hat before but this is the biggest surprise of all. So I am just going to get my thoughts down for anyone who is interested.

These photos are clearly staged with the help of Backgrid the celebrity go to people for staged pics. So I am just going to say what I think are the possible reasons.

Before I start I am going to say I think Alex was fully compliant in this because in several pictures he is looking at the camera

1. Louise persuaded him to do it because she has something she wants to promote and needs the publicity. Tbh I find it very hard to believe Alex would go along with this.

2. The US tour is coming up. They have to keep the hetero narrative going so we have staged pics with his supposedly hot girlfriend.

3. This is the 'make or break' holiday. I have seen this before with celebrities. They're not seen together for ages then suddenly they go on holiday. It is usually accompanied by staged pics and then a few weeks later they split because they couldn't make it work. Why I think this is a possibility is because the Daily Mail led with the most miserable picture and the headline said they were 'putting on a loved up display' which is always Daily Mail speak for people looking miserable. It plants seeds of doubt into people's minds, preparing them for the break up.

4. Someone has threatened to out Alex. But I would imagine if that was the case he would have made more attempts to look affectionate towards her.

5. And this breaks my heart to type. This is Miles' big week with the release of One Man Band and Alex went along with Louise's attempt (successful as well) to take attention away from Miles. Which if that is the case I tear up my AM fan card. But I can't imagine him doing that to Miles.

6. Maybe Alex has just finally decided to embrace the celebrity lifestyle. He just needs to tell his face that he is having fun!

Whatever it is (with the exception of 2 and 3) he has made a bit of a fool of himself. I mean the dude doesn't even look like he has been there five minutes and she has been in Italy for weeks. Surely if he joined her at the end of the European tour he would have some colour.

And one more thing. Why did some French dude try and pass off a picture in Paris as a recent, on Sunday?

It’s interesting for sure, makes me wonder what Vox actually thinks about Angel, and more importantly, actually thinks about Valentino. He’s a business man, and clearly the Vees all teamed up (at least initially) because it helps elevate their status and power spread, they may be friendly with each other but we as an audience don’t actually know if there’s more to it as of now. But still, interesting

To me, it makes sense Michael would have small bandages here and there on his skin, just from all his working with animatronics and snooping around. So the bandages are there to reflect that

i’m sure this has been at least mentioned before but one of the things that’s so fucking funny to me abt kim is that, for all the shit he gives you (harry) when you try to get him to dance or wear the piss jacket, he actually wants to do those things to some extent

over the course of the game you can’t get him (or other characters for that matter) to do things he doesn’t want to do. disco elysium isn’t a power fantasy game like that. don’t get me wrong some things he needs to be convinced/challenged for, but he can and does outright Refuse things at times like when you suggest getting on the kineema and cutting the body down from there, not going into the tent with the ravers, or not climbing up the shitty feld building ladder, etc. and there are also definitely moments when he reluctantly puts up with harry/the player’s antics bc harry’s persistent and it’ll just put a quicker end to things to be like, “yeah sure fine i’ll eat the sandwich“ or, “i'll spare you another *20 hour mind-project*— yes, i am”

when you really badger him into dancing in the church and pass the authority check, he of course puts up some resistance but then goes, “now check *this* shit out!“ and starts busting it down! if he was reluctant to dance, he’d totally just do some stupid lil shimmy to appease harry with the same enthusiasm of, “oh god more cryptids” but no! he starts “heel kick[ing] the church floor with such intensity, it’s reasonable to fear he’ll kick a hole right through it“ he had those moves Locked And Loaded, but it’s not like he was gonna bust them out oh god no, then harry pulls his rank on him and he thinks “well everyone else here can see that the guy making a bigger fool of himself is ordering me to do it so i guess it’s okay for me to“

(thinking abt that, there’s prolly something to also say there abt music being a sort of outlet for kim. in my brain the anodic dance music and the shit speedfreaks fm plays have more in common than not, but kim also strikes me as somewhat of a music snob about that sort of stuff so. i dunno)

and then the pissfaggot jacket! when you’re trying to convince him to put it on he essentially says “you’re gonna keep bothering me about this no matter what“ but at the end of the interaction he still puts the jacket on and keeps it on! “the first chance i get, this thing’s coming off“ yeah right, the first chance he had was immediately after putting it on, harry clearly doesn’t give a shit if kim leaves him hanging fashion-wise, he’s the one who puts on the fuck the world jacket first! and once harry takes off the fuck jacket, the piss jacket is gone too, so it basically boils down to “as long as i’m following around this guy who’s making a bigger fool of himself, i can do this thing that i wanted to do got coerced into going along with“

You really get a sense that she feels strongly attached to xxc during the pre-empathy scenes #and that she has a strong sense of loyalty and perseverance with strong survival instinct #but then you see her before all the tragedy and you *immediately* learn she is a clever trickster! #She follows xxc not out of gratitude but out of a sense that this guy is her meal ticket. #xxc is kind and strong but most importantly *noble* #she can smell the self-sacrificing bright eyed hope on this stranger. She knows the mere fact she's a young blind girl means #he will protect her. The fact he gives her a little money doesn't hurt her justification but tbh she would have followed all the same #a-qing is *the* catgirl of all time actually. Follows you for the fact you provide food and shelter. Opportunistic. Genuinely don't think I've seen anyone talk about chapter 25 as a pivotal moment for Dazai so I'm gonna put this out here because I think his reactions here kind of negate that whole omnipotent Dazai interpretation which I hate with every fibre of my being.

Firstly, he's like, clearly caught off guard here. And don't try to tell me he wasn't, because this is just one instance of his genuinely horrified reaction to Q's release and when he realized what was actually going on with Atsushi, Naomi and Haruno.

Him being caught off guard carries significance here because you'd never catch him screwing up this bad later in the series - which is exactly my point.

I wrote a post earlier about how I don't think Dazai really is very much like Mori or Fyodor at all, and I stand by that, because their motives are different. Tldr for that post: Mori and Fyodor are ambitious and proactive, while Dazai is empty/numb and reactive.

What this leads me to believe is that Dazai is less a chess master like those two and more of a contingency planner - he's so good at "predicting" because he is uncannily good at thinking like his opponent and then planning for literally any possibility under the sun he can come up with. He's no gambler. Everything and everyone is practically (and unknowingly) micromanaged. It's almost paranoid in a sense, and I definitely think it's a trauma response to something he went through that we don't know about yet - after all, he was more than capable of this before he even met Mori.

...which brings to me to Mori's influence here. It's straight up like Dazai forgot how willing Mori is to gamble huge risks for a good outcome. It's like he forgot the mafia could be a real threat to his best-laid plans.

Going to throw out a wild claim here that I don't think is actually all that baseless - I think it's widely assumed that Dazai molds himself to what he needs to be (true!) but I think this misses the idea that he is also easily influenced by the mindsets of the people around him (see: the difference between Entrance Exam Dazai and early manga Dazai, the whole "the longer he was in the mafia the darker and more incomprehensible he became" thing from Stormbringer, how dark his eyes get in the prison sections with Fyodor, etc.). I could go on, but for the sake of not making this post too much longer, let's assume this is true because it suddenly makes sense as to why he failed to predict Q but predicted other events much later that were inherently more difficult to predict:

He was in the wrong mindset. He was thinking like an Agency member, and dare I say, he even got a little complacent. He started to get used to not having to manipulate every last variable - he was removed from a toxic environment - only for Mori to pretty much instantly fuck that up in one scene.

Let's also not forget what happened the last time he miscalculated Mori's intentions.

The consequences of this blunder could've been a lot worse and he knows it.

In his mind, thinking like an ADA member wasn't good enough to stop a potentially awful outcome - awful outcomes that could bring him pain. So, he goes back to what he knows - think like the demon prodigy. Think like Mori. Later on, think like Dostoyevsky. Because it seems to me that he believes as long as he is still working for the light that it doesn't matter if he uses these horrifically manipulative and inhumane methods of getting there. But he is wrong. Darkness within the context of good intentions is still very much darkness, and it hurts people all the same.

In the very next chapter, Dazai arranges Ango's car accident. And he only gets worse and worse throughout the series as he regresses back into his paranoid darkness that manifests as this omnipotent facade - his safety net that ultimately prevents him from developing in a positive, more human direction.

I’ve gone on and on about how Leo wants to be who Splinter finds is the ideal person (which just so happens to be Splinter’s ideal version of himself) but I have yet to really touch upon how Donnie is the one who most directly parallels Splinter himself to an honestly shocking degree, Raph’s taking from Splinter’s teachings and parenting has resulted in an unhealthy mixup in the different dynamics of a family versus a team, and Mikey is the one who is simultaneously the most focused on family and the most intrinsically himself which both leads to his better grasp of mystics and honestly what just might be the healthiest dynamic with Splinter.

#rottmnt #rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles #rottmnt headcanons #it’s late so I’m just speaking from the top of my head haha #anyway yeah #the Donnie Splinter parallels are crazyyy tho #I always see ppl say Leo is just like splinter but no Leo WANTS to be like splinter but he’s more a Karai #meanwhile Donnie exhibits many of Splinter’s traits and behaviors #basically Leo has taken on many perceived Lou Jitsu attributes #including his stance his most flaunted skills and his overall demeanor #while honestly being more of a quiet and determined soul at his core that is most like Karai - with the same hope and love for family #we see the more Karai aspects of Leo throughout the series but most blatantly with Future Leo’s portrayal and how Casey Jr talks about him #Donnie though - rather than Lou Jitsu he has many Hamato Yoshi attributes #it’s funny too because Donnie ALSO parallels Draxum in many ways #(you know who else does albeit to a much lighter extent? Mikey) #make no mistake I super wanna get into Raph having a hard time separating team and family and just sorta jumbling them together #but that mindset can be unhealthy! #SHOULD I GET INTO HOW RAPH ALSO PARALLELS HAMATO SHO IN SOME WAYS AS WELL AS ATSUKO #not to mention his direct parallels to OROKU SAKI HIMSELF #and Mikey - I actuallly have a touched briefly upon how his individuality and sense of self has led to his greater control of mystics #but I do think it’s interesting that he has arguably a more healthy relationship with splinter than the others as well? #idk it’s late #and I may be talking about nonsense BUT #I gotta stop here bc I’m very sleepy but I’ll probably be back in these tags rambling more later lol #would just like to add that splinter loves them all very much he is just a flawed and depressed man with a lot of untapped trauma #which unfortunately ends up affecting his boys to different degrees
