Hello again wise oracle of the Batson knowledge ✨ I have a question, comics are complicated and rain is wet, what else is new? I wanted to read To Hell and Back but I wasn't completely sure what stories are set before that one. I think it all starts with Seven Magic Lands? But that's as far as my knowledge goes :/

lolol I think i can help! hmm while I’m here let me just give you the overall order we got when they kickstarted the whole shazam soft reboot (at least where i felt it began) until maybe present day bc i get that it can be a little odd trying to understand where current continuity really begins:

Shazam! (2018) / this is seven lands and yes you’re right, it is mostly what domino effects everything that comes next. but just know some lore “established” here becomes pretty wishy washy by the time we get to the present, including characterization sometimes, so take it w a grain of salt probably

Shazam!: Lightning Strikes (2020) / extremely optional and quick fun read about the other shazam user kids, but a couple side stories sort of additional to everything during Shazam! (2018)

Future State: Shazam (2021) / in my opinion, also an optional read. the future state storyline isn’t super important or relevant to where billy and co go afterwards but i did kinda like the speculative idea of captain-without-billy even if grimdark lol.

Teen Titans Academy (2021) / now this is where you would officially begin if you just want context for To Hell and Back. also must forewarn that this book isn’t actually…good…lol. but that’s just my own opinion…. To Hell happens in between issues of these so I would read the starting issues first then To Hell then again the last issues of TTA since that’s sort of where things leave off for the shazam kids until mary’s tncos

Shazam!: To Hell and Back (2022) / the reason why he’s joined the academy is bc he’s trying to find a way to get his powers back that he + the rest of the kids have lost/destabilized for some reason. the actual logistics of this is probably best not looked that deeply into lmao. anyway it brings back neron, who was brought back in Future State, but whose best appearance was his role in Underworld Unleashed (1995) and just for funsies (+ neron’s characterization) I’d recommend trying that out if you have free time

there's no real cure for a writer's block, i've come to learn. in 2020-2021 i've had the full two years of being insanely inspired to keep on writing and in the beginning of 2022 my brain just needed a breather. it sucks, it always does. what helps me most is to stop forcing myself to do anything, to not open those docs or anything. go for a nice long walk and think of nothing. and then, when you want to try again (because you have to keep trying!) start w something small. maybe a short story that has nothing to do with anything else (like i know those eyes, dear, always seeking). or maybe a playlist or a moodboard. just something easy to ease back in. and if that doesn't work to get you back to writing, well hey, at least ya got a cool moodboard!

for me, i feel fully blocked when it comes to racing heartbeats in particular. it's a complicated relationship i have w the fic that goes from 'this is my favorite thing ever written i'm so proud i've come this far' and 'can it be over already i'm sick and tired of it, my characterisation sucks and there's so many plotholes idk how i'll ever solve that'. and right now they both coexist (which is even more frustrating, bc i can't hate RH without also realising it's the coolest challenge i've ever given myself and how far i've come). and the 'when will you update' questions mostly drain me a bit bc then it feels like a chore. which is why i've decided to not update it until i'm back in a more positive mindset so i can be open to the comments again.

i'm struggling only a little bit with nanowrimo. i had an amazing start where i wrote more than my goal in the first ten days! but the past five days have been a bit tougher, both bc i'm not at a scene i could fully visualise and bc i haven't had all too much time. as my beloved @vmyosotis said: it's not a sprint race! gotta take pit stops sometimes. and occasionally one of those pit stops is a bottas-at-monaco pit stop. and that's okay!

i would definitely recommend to try joining a writing challenge, if you can. but only if you can be kind to yourself. only if you can be forgiving.

i joined nanowrimo to see how far i'd come. if it wasn't for nanowrimo and my beloved brainstorm buddy @vmyosotis for keep me under the charm, then that fic wouldn't be the 15k work it is right now. that work wouldn't be a trilogy with part 1 done. and i'm so so happy with it and feel so so motivated to write for it. but y'know, sometimes life gets in the way and you can't meat that 1,667 wordcount daygoal and that's okay. i'm in here for the fics at the end of the month, not a blindsighted 50k. the same goes for any challenges like kinktober/whumptober. 31 fics in 31 days? nah mate, just pick the ones you like and see how far you'd come. try new things.

challenges should have one purpose: trying new things.

whether it's new tropes or a huge fic when you've never written something big, it's all about trying something new. and that's super cool and gets you to grow as a writer. i guess that's the only tip i have: be kind to yourself and just see how far you'll come. because you'll look back after that challenge and go, whew. i've done something i never did before and it was really cool of myself.

so there is a situation. no one has to read this bc it’s probably gonna be pretty much incoherent and i’m just tryna think things thru. (self harm and suicide mention)

me and two other guys have been friends for like 13yrs or smth. let’s call them friends A and B ok. friend A is like the sweetest man ever but a v passive and anxious guy, v bad at making decisions and just coasts thru life and gets pushed around. he’s had this sorta older gf (early 30s i think) for like 2 yrs. she is basically a surrogate mum for him (drives him around, tells him what to do, gives him a place to live blah blah). it’s a bit creepy but ok. she has been up front since day 1 that she wants babies. loads of babies. friend A has somehow skirted around the issue and put it off for years now. he is NOT ready to be a dad and he says this openly—but not to her. she has an unstable visa and work situation and quite bad anxiety/depression. A’s mum gets on suuper well with girlfriend and wants them to get married and have kids asap

enter friend B. friends A and B have this mutual friend. friend A opened up to this mutual guy and told him that things were kinda fucked up between him and gf. main thing is that she’s self-harming and friend A feels like he needs to protect her. this has made him super isolated cos he can’t stay away from her at all without her calling and texting constantly asking him to come home. mutual friend tells friend B all this out of concern for friend A, and tells him to tell me too. friend B starts messaging me abt how we need to step in and do something (i’m at the other end of the country at this time). he’s even considering telling friend A’s mum so that she will swoop in and save him. at this time i was under the impression that girlfriend was threatening friend A with self harm and suicide. so i was like that’s abusive as fuck. u gotta talk to him. so friend B meets up with friend A. but he brings that mutual friend guy AND some other dude we all know from school who knows nothing about all this??? and he totally fumbles it and doesn’t even mention anything. very annoying but ok. i’ll just do it

anyway so now i’m back in the same part of the country as them all. and i’m gonna talk to friend A. i meet up with friend B and try to get more info out of him and he tells me that yes there IS a self harm element but now he doesn’t know whether it’s being used as a threat or not. so this makes everything waay more complicated and throws it all into veeery sensitive gray area.

anyway i’m meeting up with friend A tomorrow and idk how exactly i’m gonna approach this. bc i’m not even meant to know ANY of this rly. like it’s v sensitive and confidential info that he gave to a totally different guy and which has now passed two hands to get to me. so idk whether it’s best to pretend like i don’t know anything and just coax the same info out of him so we can talk abt it. or whether i should be up front and say i heard some stuff i’m concerned abt and ask him to give me his perspective on it all…. i don’t mind talking to him abt this. i feel like i might be able to come at it on his level bc i have had some experience w this kind of thing in a relationship before (tho when much younger and a lot less messy) and i know how it can fuck ur head up.

The moment you were being roughly pushed against the car you knew a little too well, you knew you ran out of options to escape. The Batman held you down against the cold and wet metal of his car. One hand was around your neck, the other holding your hip to keep your body in place.

Despite knowing it wasn't going to help at all, you tried to free yourself from his grip but failed. He was much too strong for you to be able to get him off of you. At that moment, being entirely at his will, you couldn't help but laugh. That gesture made the man on top of you frown, not liking your reaction to this situation.

"Are you going to hand me over again?" you asked teasingly, fake pouting. "You know I can't go back to that place. Arkham is so not my style."

"Why would I waste my time?" he asked bitterly. "All your little friends would run to save you."

You smirked slightly at the insinuation, reaching to caress his face in a joking manner. He moved his face away almost immediately, making your smirk grow wider. "Hmm, is that jealousy I hear in your voice?"

He was quiet for far too long, confirming your suspicions. The Bat has always made it clear how much he despises your army of admires trailing behind you, willing to do everything you ordered them to do. It wasn't just because you are incredibly beautiful and charming, but because you have...let's say, a way to convince everyone to do anything you want.

He has always tried to convince you to use your abilities for good, yet you seem too comfortable using them for all the wrong reasons. This isn't the first time he has caught you doing something you shouldn't be doing.

First two times he sent you right to Arkham, a horrible place you unfortunately got to meet. Lucky for you, it was easy to break out of that place thanks to your abilities. After realizing it was pointless to lock you up, The Batman decided to just mess up your plans to commit any crime, forcing you to go into hiding for a few days or weeks until you decide it's time to commit yet another crime.

It was a matter of time before the two of you got closer. He couldn't deny you were indeed very attractive and, despite wanting to hide it, he has become almost obsessed with you. Why else would he prefer to chase after you every now and then rather than try to get your ass to stay inside Arkham? It was a silly excuse to get to see you as frequently as he could.

Without him knowing it, he slowly became one of your many admires. Now, he's unable to escape from this desire to be around you.

Of course you would soon notice the soft spot The Batman has developed for you , so you always used that to your advantage. It was very useful to get on the tough and scary Vigilante's good side. But despite it all started as a game, you can deny you've started to feel sympathy for him. Maybe it's the fact that you've got to know him on a personal level or the way he treats you that has make you like him too. Maybe not it the way he would like, but at least you care. It's not in your nature to care about other people.

Ever since you met each other, the two of you had formed a very complicated relationship. If someone were to ask you, you'd probably say he's just a guy you occasionally hook up with and, in a weird way, kinda care for.

If someone asked him, he'd definitely think something different. Despite you liked and cared for him, you weren't planning on ever pursuing something serious with him. Bruce, however, did want to get closer to you. Of course he would never admit such a thing, knowing very well he was just another one of your many admires, wishing to someday be special.

Noticing he wasn't going to speak, you moved your hand up his arm, his eyes never leaving yours as you did so. "You know they mean nothing, right?" you muttered in a sweet voice. "Only you can touch me. Only you can have me like this, completely under your control to do whatever it is you want to do to me. Do you remember? When we were like this just a few nights ago? You on top of me, your hand on my neck–"

"You can't expect me to believe that," he cuts you off. For the first time, he avoided looking at you.

"Baby, look at me," you pleaded. Despite wanting to resist, he complied. "You're the only one, Bruce. The only one I want."

You knew he was completely at your mercy every time you called him by his real name. He had fallen so hard for you that he even revealed who he was behind the mask, but was surprise to see you've kept the secret for so long. You're not that bad after all.

Bruce's grip on your body was barely existent now, his hands barely touching you. Taking that to your advantage, you got rid of his grip on your neck and got back to your feet. He didn't do a thing to stop you, turning to look at you in silence. His eyes were trying to tell you something. A hint of desperation hidden behind them as he did his best not to move closer to you.

"You believe me, don't you?" you asked again. "You are the only one I care about."

He was still silent, but that wasn't something unusual for him. Noticing Bruce wasn't convinced, you move closer to him and wrapped one arm around his neck, forcing him to lean towards you given the height difference. Your other hand went up to his face, caressing the part of his cheek that wasn't hiding behind the mask.

"You're gorgeous, baby," you muttered. "There's no one else that can make me feel the way you do."

Bruce seemed a lot calmer, falling for what you were saying and allowing himself to put his guard down, wrapping his arms around you to gently pull you closer, your bodies fully touching. This only encouraged you further, knowing how much Bruce loved to be praised like this. You look up at his eyes, watching as they shine in contrast with the blackness around them, despite being on the middle of an empty, poorly illuminated alley. He wouldn't dare to move, waiting for you to make the first move.

You were used to people doing whatever it was you commanded, but you had to admit that having the Bruce Wayne and Batman completely under your spell gave you a satisfaction nothing else could ever give you. The thrill of a lover like him was nothing like you had ever experienced.

Finally, you leaned that extra inch closer and connected your lips with his. As soon as Bruce was allowed to kiss you, he completely melted under your touch and leaned closer to you, his grip of your tightening as he kissed you eagerly and passionately. He would be lying if he says he hasn't been hoping to be like this with you again.

You didn't care about the fact that he has once again pushed you against his car, making you rest your back on it as he leaned on top of you to continue to kiss you as needy as he has been the moment you began kissing him. Your legs would eventually wrap around him to make sure he wouldn't move back (not like he would ever want to do that, though) as his hands began trailing all over your body.

Bruce's body betrayed him when you bit his lower lip, failing to hold back the grunt that escaped his lips, making you smile proudly against his lips as he continued to kiss you.

You continued to make out for what felt an eternity, neither of you getting enough of each other. Eventually, he only moved back to whisper, "come back to the Tower with me."

You grinned, trailing a finger down his covered chest. "Can't tonight, baby. Maybe tomorrow." Disappointment was obvious on his features, but you leaned closer once again to give him a quick kiss on the lips before pushing him away from you so you could once again get back to your feet, fixing your outfit and hair. "I'll call you. Or would you prefer me to use that silly bat sign?"

Bruce didn't reply to that. "Stay out of trouble," was all he said.

"I'll try my best. Lucky for me I have my hero to come to the rescue," you replied, noticing he wasn't amused by your comment. "Oh, stop giving me that look. Learn to take a compliment!"

"Doesn't sound like a compliment when you say it like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you don't actually mean it."

You rolled your eyes. "Whatever, let's not ruin the moment we just had, okay? We can continue where we left off tomorrow." With that said, you walked towards him again to lightly kiss his cheek. "Till then, Bruce."

You winked at him before turning around and walk away, quickly disappearing in the shadows, leaving Bruce all alone again. Despite knowing he should probably stay away from you, he couldn't wait for tomorrow to come.

Fixer Upper PART ONE (Frankie Morales x f!Reader)

Summary: Nothing seems to go right in your new house. When yet another thing breaks, a certain handyman comes to your rescue.

A/N: this one goes out to my anons who’ve been sending me stuff about frankie as a repairman! I loved the idea and I thought it would be super fun to write! This will be part ONE of three-ish! ps idk if any references to reader’s gender are in this part but there certainly will be some in the future so.

It’s been a while that you’ve lived in this house. Since that day you hauled in the cardboard boxes, you’ve been feeling that your life is the epitome of Murphy’s law. Or rather, this damned house is.

Nothing ever goes right. The heat breaks in the winter and the air conditioning breaks in the summer. The plumbing needs work when you need it to work, and the oven only ever breaks halfway through cooking something. Seriously, you swear this place is cursed by some hex determined to pester you out of living here.

You’ve never exactly been the handy type. You don’t know much about mechanics, heating or cooling, the electricity and wiring in your house, any of it. By now, you wish you’d taken the time to learn it at some point rather than hiring someone every time.

The first sign was that the June heat seemed inescapable. You’d been outside all day, and you figured it was just your body taking its time to adjust to the cooler, indoor temperature. Then you never cooled down. When you stepped out of the bathroom after a shower and found the air to be nearly as muggy as that of the steamed bathroom, you realized that the air conditioning must be off.

Well, it was on. The problem was that it wasn’t working. You opened all the windows, and figured the night breeze would cool you, then you became worried about serial killers and crimes and promptly shut and locked all of them again. With the fan in your bedroom on, the air at least moved, but was still thick and heavy.

In the morning, when you wake with no blankets on and sweaty sheets, you dial the repair company as fast as you can. You inform them of the situation, and they tell you they’ll send someone out your way in the next hour or two.

The air is still somewhat cool outside, so you give the front porch a shot once you get changed out of your pajamas and take yet another cool shower. The heavy dew is an indicator of just how humid the air is, and you relish every little breeze that passes by and cools you down. You conduct your morning business outside, hoping to have this problem fixed before the sun reaches a height where the temperatures will rise exponentially.

About an hour after the call, the repair van rolls up into your driveway and parks. “Thank God,” you murmur to yourself.

Your focus returns to your computer, but you hear the door slam shut and look up to find the repairman there. He wears khaki cargo pants and a gray t-shirt, complete with a ball cap on top, with dark brown curls peeking out from the bottom. He fastens his tool belt around his waist as he walks up to the porch. “Hey there. I’m Frankie. I’ll be taking care of you today,” he informs you, a kind smile on his face. You already like him. “I got the basics from the boss, but can you tell me more about the problem?”

Looking up at him from the seated position you’re in, you give an awkward smile. Suddenly, you wish you’re better dressed, fixed up and looking nice. Even in work clothes, this man is beautiful. It makes you a little nervous, you in your pajamas and him looking like a god even in cargo pants. “I wish I could, but I don’t know anything about the air conditioner and how it works other than how to change the settings. All I know is that it isn’t working.”

He gives a good-natured chuckle, a soft bounce of his chest beneath the shirt. He looks down at his tool belt and his scruff brushes against the collar of the gray. “Well, let’s go give it a shot. I’ll need you to show me around, show me the control panel and the main system.” God, he’s handsome.

“Oh, of course,” you nod and stand, leaving your laptop on the small table. “Well, right this way. And please, you don’t need to take your boots off. Those look complicated,” you laugh as you look at the heavy tan boots at the bottom of his body.

Frankie nods and looks around as you lead him through the house. He doesn’t take his boots off, since you insisted, but he does give them a generous wipe on the doormat, careful not to track anything in. “It’s a beautiful place,” he tells you honestly, with a half-smile that just tugs at one of the corners of his ridiculously soft-looking lips.

“Thanks,” you shrug and show him to the control panel. “I try. Okay, here’s the button thingy.”

“The button thingy?” he teases, which leads to laughter from the both of you.

“If I knew what it was called, you wouldn’t be here,” you tease him back and shake your head.

Frankie uses the tools from his belt to take off the casing. You lean against the wall as he works, admiring the way his hands nimbly check the wires and paneling behind it. He holds a small flashlight between his teeth to look into the wall cavity.

“I can hold that for you,” you offer, and he moves his mouth for you to take it from him.

“Thanks,” he says, popping his jaw slightly to adjust from the awkward angle of holding it between his teeth. “You don’t have to. I’m just here to fix it.”

You point it at the same spot. “I might as well be some help, considering I don’t know shit about my own house.”

Frankie laughs at that, stealing a glance your way that makes your face warm before his gaze returns to the electrical situation. “Well,” he declares after a few seconds. “The wiring must not be the problem here. This all is working fine, so it must be with the actual system.”

“Great,” you groan. “The part I know even less about.”

“That’s what I’m here for,” he chuckles and screws the panel back into place on your wall, making sure everything works properly and he didn’t mess with any functions.

Leading Frankie to your basement, you show him the cluttered laundry room and the central air conditioning unit. He’s already analyzing the system, and you back off to let him work. He looks focused. “Holler if you need me,” you tell him as he gets on his knees to look at something, daring to gently pat his shoulder. It’s strong, muscular beneath your palm.

Heading back to the kitchen, you open the fridge and sigh. For a moment, you allow yourself to close your eyes and just enjoy the cold air it produces. Hopefully, your house will be the same soon enough. Grabbing two tall glasses, you fill each with ice before pouring half sweet tea and half lemonade into the glasses.

You stand in the kitchen with the freezer open, sighing at the cool air it provides. Not sure how long he’ll take, you scroll through your phone. It’s surprisingly quick, you find.

“Hey, I found it!” Frankie calls from the basement.

Carrying the two glasses, you return to the laundry room to find him reorganizing his tool belt. “Here,” you tell him with a smile as you hold out the drink. “Least I could do. It’s unbearable in here.”

“Thanks,” he smiles and lifts the glass to you in a miniature salute before taking a sip. Frankie then launches into a detailed explanation of the issue with the A/C unit, using all kinds of terms you don’t understand and mentioning parts you didn’t even know were included in the machine. “I got it all fixed up, though, and it shouldn’t take long before it’s working just as good as normal.”

You sigh in relief, swallowing the sweet drink and smiling at him. “God, thank you so much. You don’t even know how awful it was in here.”

“If it’s anything like right now, I do,” he chuckles. The man takes the hem of his t-shirt and lifts it to wipe his face, revealing a muscular but soft body beneath it, with a beautiful little trail of dark hair leading to beneath his belt. Is it terrible that your first thought is that you want to lick it?

You force the image from your mind with another swig of the drink. “Yeah, just about. Well, how much do I owe you?” You ask the man, leading him out of the laundry room and into the basement that’s already feeling cooler.

“Oh, nothing right now,” he shakes his head as you lead him upstairs and to the kitchen. “I just tweaked some things for you, didn’t need any parts or anything, so it’s just gonna be labor.” He seems to remember something. “Ah, shit. I gotta have you sign something. I’ll grab the paper from the van and be right back,” he tells you and leaves his drink on the counter, half-jogging outside.

While he’s outside, you lean against the cool kitchen counter and let yourself daydream. This Frankie guy certainly is attractive, and his personality is definitely something you’re interested in. What if the situation right now played out like a porno, and he fucked you on the countertop? You certainly wouldn’t complain. You noticed his hands and feet are large. Certainly he must be big somewhere else too. “Oh Jesus Christ,” you murmur to yourself. Why did my mind have to go there? And why is the thought so hot? He’s a sweet man too, clearly goofy and sweet. Why is your mind going there then? Really, upon further pondering, you just want to hug the man, admire his strong body pressed to yours in an intimate but innocent gesture.

“Sorry, what was that?” Frankie calls out as he walks into the house again.

His voice snaps you from your daydreaming. “Oh, just talking to myself,” you say quickly and cheerfully, taking the paper from him. The top is printed with repairman name: Francisco Morales. Francisco. That makes you smile. What a cute name. The rest is filled with the details of what he did to the machine to fix it, and you sign and date at the bottom. “Here you go, Francisco.”

His tanned skin turns a little pinker on the cheeks. “Great,” Frankie smiles and takes it back.

“Before you leave,” you tell him quickly, darting to grab your purse from the entryway, “here.”

Frankie walks to you and you hand him a generous cash tip, with a stupid smile stuck to your face. “Thank you, wow,” he says, voice honest in its surprise as he notices the total of the money.

“Of course. I really can’t thank you enough. God, it’s been painfully hot in here and I really just can’t stand the heat,” you ramble, your voice speeding up. “And… yeah. Thank you. For your company, too.”

“Just doing my job,” he tells you with a smile, putting his hands in his pockets. “Oh, here.”

From his pocket, he pulls a little rectangle of paper with his name and company on it. “The shop number is on here; if anything changes, just call and ask for Catfish.”

“Catfish?” You ask with a smile, puzzled.

“My old military nickname. It’s what the guys around there call me,” he shrugs, shy at the nickname.

It makes you laugh a little, and you tuck the card in your purse. “Well, Catfish, thank you. I’ll be sure to use this next time I have some stupid thing I can’t repair myself.”

“Please do,” he chuckles, a shy smile on his face. “I’ll see you around.”

“Thanks!” You call again and cringe. That’s, what, the ninth time you’ve said that now? He walks to the van and you give him a wave before retreating back inside. God, now you can’t wait for this shitty house to need another repair. You’ll certainly be asking for Catfish.

HEAVY FBAA SPOILERS

I just trying to figure these books out, understand the prophecy, find who the dark one is and I would have very good theories IF JLA DIDNT HAVE THE HABITS OF LYING AND CHANGING EVERYTHING WE KNOW IN EACH BOOK.

I’m not even sure about the whole primals to gods to deities to godlins thing bc its so complicated. And then what are Atlantians ? What makes them, what makes them more than mortal, how are the bloodlines created ? By the union of deities and mortals ? Are they godlins ? that are the "basics" I don’t quite understand or just can’t remember.

PLUS they’re so many characters I love it but it’s a lot and we can never be sure who they really are bc jla loves to play w us ;) but i have it kind of figured out. I will try to share and explain some theories I saw left and right. Maybe these are well known and already discussed and shit but I’m new on here and I’ve never been able to rant and exchange w FBAA fans before so I’ll give it a try, feel free to react in fact pls DO REACT

So according to some theories, Isbeth is not really poppy’s mother and she just tries to mess w her, which I think would be kind of a deja-vu turnaround but whatever, so my guess is that poppy is the daughter of ires (that we know for sure.. I hope) and JADIS, nektas daughter. It would made her a god AND some kind of draken, although I’m really not sure about this, it would be sm cooler than Isbitch and would explain (if there is anything to explain, it might just be details, not a big part of the plot) why poppy is so interested in shape changing creatures and why the draken are becoming highlights of the books (poppy meeting nektas, the draken being what they are : the super powerful protectors of primals, jadis being that cute baby everybody love in ASITE, then going missing w ires and now we don’t know what happened to her). But I’m pretty sure JLA confirmed Isbeth was her real mother so let’s just focus on the REAL THING >> THE DARK ONE.

Two options in my opinion : Kolis or the supposedly dead son of malec and isbeth. Kolis bc the Dark One is described as a whole different entity compared to everything we know, he has no face, pretty much no soul.. he’s just a void yk and that would match Kolis bc in the ASITE timeline, one way or another, he was dispossessed from both title, he cannot be life nor death since by usurping one he lost the other. AND they manifest in the same way : when Nyktos went to claim Sera in the ASITE prologue, he had a hood covering his face and shadows and darkness were surrounding him. Exactly like the dark one during poppy’s attack. So he just goes around doing shit till he finds poppy during the attack that killed her adoptive parents, spare and protect her BC SHE IS SOTORIA REBORN (cus she’s a descendant of sera who is sotoria reincarnated, and it goes on and on) AND HE CAN ONLY PROTECT THE OBJECT OF HIS UNDYING LOVE THAT HE LOST THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO. We can add to this theory that he is in some ways linked to Isbeth great design like maybe he was order to get poppy for isbeth idk or the other way around everything is the plan of Kolis trying to get revenge and he uses Isbeth bc she too wants revenge AND isbeth was all mysterious and teasing a greater plan to cas in the first chapter of TWOTQ (pre-released) so them working together or her for him would make sense (I’m saying this bc it would be weird for the fucking former primal of death to work for a fake god yk but this is just me thinking about everything little single details bc I have adhd and ocds). Anyway maybe they are just two salty bitter bitches who are willing to destroy the worlds for their ego but it’s really not the point even if I’ve been developing this for so long damn write your own book. OR malec and isbeth’s dead son. It would add sm spice to an already way too complicated and spicy plot but we love it. Because yk there’s no proof he’s really dead and maybe Isbeth LIED (that would surprise no one) and she very much would know where he is and how he is doing because bc he’s be very much alive.. and if we want to go further, but again it’s just me saying shit cuz I don’t have the patiente to write my own book, kind of alive bc the Dark One is, as said earlier, a void like no life no death no soul no thoughts head’s empty. Anyway long short story he’d be a revenant, created by Kolis, or not, I just really feel like Kolis has to do w EVERYTHING, since he’s shady and has a habit for doing shit between life and death. That would make sense and just be cool for the plot since he’s Isbeth’s son and she, as far as we know, owns the Revenants. In both cases the Dark One could be connected to Isbeth, or not, depends on how deep you want the plot to go. AND I think Kolis is linked to the Revenant one way or another. But then I’m wondering how could Isbeth be such a big deal.. she was just king malec’s mortal side chick, she’s really overstepping and being dramatic here 🙄🙄 That’s it for now I’m tired I WILL analyze the prophecy later bc I HAVE AN EXCELLENT IMAGINATION

Hi anon! So I’ve kept things I’ve been meaning to read for the past months in my “Marked for Later” folder on AO3, and I’ve been diving into a couple for the past few days. Here goes:

Death of a Bachelor, by my friend @geekout-f-t-w

Summary: A series of tragic circumstances left Dean with a pile of hospital bills and his brother to take care of. To make ends meet, he needs to take a new personal assistant job, one that's going to fly him halfway across the country to work for one of the nation's hottest new authors: Castiel Novak. Castiel isn't what Dean was expecting at all, and he comes to realize why Castiel has a reputation for being a difficult boss to work for. Time away from Sam, and getting to know his boss, make Dean realize he needs to reevaluate his life and what he wants for himself.

And that just might include the one person he cannot have.

THIS IS DELIGHTFUL! It follows the pattern of “Death of a Bachelor” by Panic! At The Disco, every chapter being linked to one of the song off the album. I’m only around chapter 5 or 6 right now but I’ve been fully immersed into the story since last night and I’m having a great time

Idk man, the premise seemed fun and I loved seeing the characterization through this. I’ve always wondered what would’ve happened if Cas had been in 12x11 and I’m almost sure the reason they didn’t have him in was because they wouldn’t have been able to have him here and have Dean be normal about the gorgeous angel in the room.

I’m well aware that the summary doesn’t give much away, but basically Claire needs Dean and Cas to go on a hunt with her where she needs them to act like a couple... And obviously things derail at some point (because when has anything go according to plan with these guys). I LOVED THIS, and it was also an easy read for me to get back into since I hadn’t read anything exceeding 15k for the past 4 months or so!

I’ve had this one bookmarked for-fucking-ever and as expected it was a delight to follow. Poor Dean losing his mind over Cas and Sam pretending to be a couple <3

Summary: The first time she meets him, he's nothing more than an almost-missed appointment. ~~~ Dean is silent for a long, tense moment, then he gruffly says, "It's not for banishing the angels. It's to summon them. So, it doesn't—it's not to get rid of 'em, but to draw 'em in." Mitzi can't help but glance up at him at that. His voice is so heavy with so much unexplained pain, and she doesn't understand why, or what angels have to do with it. She knows religion can impact people. She's very aware that it can get complicated, and that it can be a huge source of pain for someone, but Dean sounds grievously wronged, somehow, as if it's a truly personal thing. She pushes through, focusing back on her job, clearing her throat before murmuring, "Well, I guess we all want angels to visit us sometimes." "Just the one," Dean mumbles. "Your guardian angel?" Mitzi asks. Dean breathes out, "Something like that. As close to one as an angel will ever get." 

This made me weep like an actual baby. The fact that it’s entirely written from an outside character (in that case, Mitzi, who’s Dean tattoo artist) would generally have put me off, but it’s so well-written that it took me in in next to no time. And I’ve just realized it’s been turned into a series and there’s a second fic from Dean’s POV attached to this one, so this is my queue to go and read!

I hope that gives you matter of choices, anon! Come back in a few weeks once I’m done going through my Marked for Later folder, I shall have some more to rec!

you, daily, visit sams shop to see if he has anything new that idia can use. as thanks he lets you test out the thing he created out of the pieces you’d give him. some times they’re specifically for you to be able to keep savanaclaw away, annoying as they are.

your best friend is ortho! you two babysit idia ALL THE TIME! you often hyper focus, so you and ortho keep track of notes for his big brother and hardly mind because, he’s your dorm leader.

your close group outside your dorm consists of: jamil, trey, and riddle! you can often find jamil and trey cooking together, while they do you and riddle test them for upcoming exams, it’s a lot of fun! trey and cater always pay you a visit, despite how scared cater is, to make sure your taking care of yourself. jamil makes you take breaks when studying together, there’s no need to worry about that.

everyone goes to you when they need help with anything, you’re kinda like the parent of ignihyde. and idia plans on making you the next house warden because you’re dependability. also because ortho is quite young.

“that star is prettyyy!” you sang looking into the gigantic telescope you and ortho brought to a clearing.

“that’s not a star actually, that is actually a dwarf planet—”

“so… pluto?”

“what - what’s a ‘pluto?’

“ah, nothing! ortho, come look at this!”

“no need, i can see what you’re seeing from the computer.”

“but it’s better through the telescope. come over here!” you carried him to the device.

“bingo! that’s correct!” you clapped, you were quizzing trey while he taught jamil how to make tarts and that was his 80th correct question in a row.

“i expect nothing less of the vice leader of heartslaybul.” riddle stated proudly, leaning back on the clear counter. “my turn!”

“riddle, this’d be your 6th time proving your going to ace this test. why not give jamil a turn, hm?”

“very well then! jamil?” he continued when jamil nodded in acknowledgment, “when on a broom it is most important that you…?”

“find your core and maintain balance.” he replied without hesitation, placing the nearly finished tarts in the oven.

“huh, okay.. what about descent? what do you know about that?”

“when in mid air try to descend at the same speed as your breathing, which should be at a steady 4 second inhale and 8 second exhale. be sure to make sure there is nothing you can crash into within 3 feet of your landing area.”

“he actually paid attention to that…” riddle noted looking at you with surprise.

hewwo @baalism I made u......less of a match up and more just headcanons on how u date the people. i hope u like it <3 I divided them into tiers depending on how well I think they mesh w you too!! so here you go!

TOP TIER (NOT kissing up 2 u!)

SATAN

I think Satan is your #1 man because the two of you just seem to be.....kindred spirits. (I am calling you the same as Satan but like as a compliment?) Y’all got that academia vibe to you with your books and your museum dates and your air of mystery. You two are the hot nerd squad is what i’m saying

Plus Satan is a social butterfly! He’d not only like the quieter moments w you but also when you went dancing he could either be living it up with you or making new connections (although. if he was going to the club why would he stray from the main attraction? make it make sense)

And with him that trust would be super easy to get bc if you’re dating him, HOO BOY. He’s got some Issues but he trusts you to help him get through them! There is a lot of him that feels prickly and dangerous and if you don’t shy away from that and can help him through it then you have his heart! As long as you aren’t ripping his attention away from a thrilling chapter, he’s a great conversation partner too. His quiet nature at first is NOT shyness, it allows him to be observant!! You are one of the few who get the chatty inside ^u^

Plus he loves ur cat and will be on her side when she screws with your puzzles.

SOLOMON

THE ONLY REASON he is not number one is he’s a bit too much of a wallflower to be into the partying like Satan would be. Otherwise....hot nerd squad two electric boogaloo

Is a bit more down with the witchy outdoorsy stuff and the occult and the abandoned place exploration thing than Satan would be. I bet one of his favorite things to do is take u to an abandoned building and after being there for a while when you start to get bored, he enchants it to look like the inside of some old castle and you dance together or something :) memories for u

isn’t always super chatty but is great for listening to you rant. he makes up for his lack of chattiness by asking the perfect questions to get you fired up again, so your ranting takes up most of the time. loves to pick ur brain, so you can talk about anything. he’s like: i want to dissect that smart lil organ of yours. lovingly <3

keep your sudoku puzzles up or he will mistake your books for his and do them for you. the image of him sitting cross legged at an armchair like some grandpa is nice but those are your puzzles!!!! but he’s very good at being domestic, just make sure to ALWAYS cook or bake with him!

LUCIFER

Listen, I hc Lucifer as like kind of a wallflower, but even if i’m wrong, he’ll still not be partying with you a lot because he’s busy! of course doesn’t stop you from going out if you want just be safe pls he lovs u

will take a walk with you every day all the time. After dinner before he goes back to work, he’ll take a little stroll with you. when he has time he’ll go for longer ones and show you some off-beat or decrepit devildom areas but he will absolutely just go on little walks with you every day to catch up with you!!

lives for the domestic moments. you bring him coffee? he is glad to be yours! walks in on you doing laundry? how luck he is to have someone so capable <3 he’ll help you fold the rest of the load or will make sure to talk with you while it’s his turn to make dinner (but will make sure you don’t have to help! you deserve a break)

finds your interest in the arcane kinda funny because he IS the arcane but supports you <3 will listen to you list off what you know even if he also knows because he likes hearing what you’ve learned and you get so excited about it! he will return with his own spells and potions you might not know yet and you two could go on for hours about it.

HIGH-MID TIER

His interests align with your! Fashion, beauty, partying!! He loves it. LIVES for it. you two are an unstoppable force.

However....the academic/witchy stuff doesn’t suit him as well as the other stuff does? He’ll whine about you “being a satan” or “being a solomon” if you tread too far in one direction

he’ll work out with you though and buy you cute workout gear <3

a relationship with him is less emphasizing trust and more about intimacy (but you can still trust him yknow?) he makes your connection known by demonstrating it plainly rather than feeling like a safehouse, if that make sense? but he does love u to pieces!! remember that

he wants to eat ur cupcakes this is my main reasoning and also NOT a dirty joke

if he goes partying w you he acts more as a personal bouncer and will circle the crowd like a shark for u <3 also great to bring you home if you’re drunk

he likes taking walks and hiking and being active with you! he does have to slow down so he doesn’t overexert your human body but he doesn’t mind because he’s having fun!

v sweet with the domestic stuff, just not great at cleaning. he just leaves crumbs over the floor he just cleaned :/ thinks u look cute in an apron tho

i think before you’ve said that reader in bmb universe dresses similar to the actresses in clueless (cher and dione) and i was curious if u thought that the reader (in bmb) is just as clueless/as much of an airhead (ahhhh idk how to say this diplomatically) as the ppl from the movie like cher or her friends(?) i know she goes to university/college but is she like smart? lmao i feel so mean rn but i genuinely am curious about ur original thoughts and ideas when writing this and what u had envisioned in mind

ahahahaha yes yes of course i’m comfortable with you asking!!! i actually love questions like these SO much! <3 so thank you very much for asking!! and all i meant when i talk about interpretations of a piece of art/fiction is simply that there is not one “right” interpretation; mine as the author is just one of endless—it has a very special, personal meaning to me, but someone else might read it and find their own personal, special meaning for themselves, because we are all unique people with different experiences, opinions, beliefs etc.

i hope that makes sense!!! that’s all i mean tho hehehehe <3 but i also totally understand what you’re asking and why you’re asking it!!! i am like this with my favourite directors; like, their films have personal meaning to me that i’ve interpreted based on my life/who i am, but i’m always interested to know THEIR interpretations as well!!!

but yes yes thank you for asking!!! i remember talking about her intelligence a looooong long time ago, but i can’t find the ask hehehe.i feel like the answer is a little complicated. bmb!reader IS smart in a book smart sense—at least, shes more intelligent than cher + dionne—but she’s nowhere near as smart as dabi and tomura are when it comes to book smarts. she does well in school, not amazing but decently (slightly above average, i’d say), because she works hard and her education + grades are important to her.

but it doesn’t come naturally to her, doesn’t come easy in any way, and she’s got zero street smarts. like, nothing at all. she grew up sheltered, and she’s still extremely sheltered by tomura. as such, when it comes to life stuff, she’s a little dumb and definitely lost, and it almost lends itself to the perpetual innocence she seems to exude. she’s quite used to tomura making all of her decisions for her, and for the most part she’s HAPPY with that.

a good example of her pushing back and not being happy with this tho is when she says she won’t stop going to university in part one; but one of the big big reasons why she pushes back against him there is BECAUSE school is important to her, you know??? it’s one of the only things she does for herself and by herself, and she enjoys it. it’s a little bit of freedom but it’s also enough freedom for her; she’s a little lazy, she likes being treated like a baby/princess and being taken care of, she likes not having that responsibility and just being the prize she is and getting all those fancy gifts + being doted on by her Daddy etc etc.

other than that, she doesn’t have too many issues with tomura making the decisions most of the time, and when she does, she can almost always entice him to change his mind ;) it’s also worth noting here though that the majority of ‘decisions’ she isn’t alright with are when tomura says no and denies her something she wants: ie saying no to sweets before dinner. when it comes to bigger, more substantial decisions she will happily let tomura take the wheel.

so, i’d say cher + dionne are smarter than her when it comes to street smarts. cher knows how to manipulate and argue her way up to A’s in all of her classes; bmb!reader would never be able to do that. cher + dionne are masters at makeovers and plan them in detail, and i’d even go as far to argue that they’re able to read people and life situations better than bmb!reader, too. they have a lot more experience than she does. reader is much easier to take advantage of because of this, and much easier to manipulate, and she’s also mostly content with her lack of autonomy. i can’t see cher or dionne being okay with that, you know?

in sum: she’s smarter than them when it comes to academics, but more clueless than they are when it comes life stuff.

I'm curious on your thoughts about Moon Cassandra. Many people seem to find the character unsympathetic in season 3, and maybe a way this could've been avoided is if the moon stone went into cass's mind, found her insecurities, and amplified them so she would take the moon stone (essentially twisting her into a person of only anger and hurt)? The king hinted that it could play mind tricks. Just have her (or rather the moonstone) be the main villian, no gothel or zhan tiri. What do you think?

Ty for such a thoughtful ask, this was fun to consider! I'm kinda having a hard time organizing my thoughts and making everything flow together tonight, so bear w/ me:

I really like Moon Cassandra as a concept! It's unique, character-driven, was genuinely surprising, and I like the themes it plays into. But I also agree w/ the sentiment that the plot with her wasn't executed well, mostly re. her motivations and redemption. (And there's also this... general confusion/dissonance in the writing between what the showrunners seem to have intended vs. what they actually ended up implying.)  

Imo Cass had a great setup for her villain arc, a solid reason to take the moonstone, and she was already a sympathetic character in S2- but the Gothel twist really hamstringed that.

Her arm being withered by someone so close to her, feeling overshadowed, bitterness and resentment, with some justified unhappiness over how her friends had been treating her is a really solid internal motivation, and it’s easy for me to feel for and even relate to her struggle. How many princess shows focus on the main char's best friend struggling w/ insecurity and self-worth, and make overtures at examining and deconstructing privilege and chosen one destiny narratives?? That's good stuff!

But then S3 revealed her surprise parentage, and we get massively downgraded from a strong internal motivation to a weak external one. It isn’t a natural conclusion to the previous build-up and it’s far less compelling. The wonkiness of this choice has been talked about and criticized extensively, but tl;dr I think it's hard to feel sympathy for Cass when her feelings are hard to understand, and her reasons for lashing out don’t make sense.  

Compare/contrast Varian’s more straightforward char progression and motives in S1; it’s easy to see why he feels and acts the way he does, and it's easy to feel bad for his circumstances.

(As an aside, she also has little agency in her redemption, and how it plays out makes any remorse/guilt seem kiiiinda insincere. That def doesn't help put her in the audience's good graces... but I feel like that's a diff issue.)

(And yeah, the twist works a little better wrt Cass’ villain arc if you view it with a ton of personal interpretation/analysis/subtext- e.g. seeing Gothel choose Raps over her was a tipping point, symbolic of all her other struggles, etc. etc.- but that's still not what's emphasized in the show itself. The cracks that started to show in S2 never come back up, but Gothel being her mother does, repeatedly- and it's a bad look.)

I've seen a lot of reenvisionings of S3 and Cass' villain arc w/o the Gothel twist, but idk if I've seen the idea of a ZT-less S3 w/ more emphasis on the moonstone as a semi-sentient entity. It's an interesting variation and I like it!

I think what you describe is actually kind of what happened- just with ZT actively manipulating and pushing Cass in that direction instead of the moonstone. Which, iirc, jives w/ how the creators thought of ZT in her ghostly form as a manifestation of intrusive thoughts and bad impulses- but that ended up putting ZT in an awk place herself, and made for some other issues with her characterization/motivation seeming underdeveloped. I could totes see the moonstone playing the same role without those complications. It might also allow for ZT to enter the story in a diff way.

I think having Cass be overtly influenced by the moonstone would run the risk of decreasing her agency as a char a bit, so I’d say that it could work well w/ the caveat that the underlying choices would still have to be all Cass. The moonstone making her evil wouldn't work for me- for the same reason that Cass being a doppelganger or being possessed after coming out of the door weren’t my fav theories pre-S3.

Possessing the stone could negatively affect her mental state, make her more destructive b/c that's the stone's nature, or increase her willingness to go to extremes by lowering her inhibitions- but the anger, hurt, and insecurity getting amplified are all old emotional wounds that had been there for a long time before then, y’know? (And that might’ve actually been a cool parallel with Catalina’s werewolf curse, actually.)

(On the flipside, very deliberately giving Cass less agency would prob have made it easier for many fans to forgive her actions. And maybe that'd have better suited how the writers wanted Cass to come off by the end of the season?) 

That line about the moonstone whispering really seemed like it'd be more significant, and I wish they'd done something w/ it too. I'm not sure if it was a red herring or if they just dropped the ball there (like with so many other threads that got forgotten lmao). I guess we're left to conclude that Edmund is hearing voices from being isolated for so long? Though if he was to have a throwaway line about mental instability, you think they wouldn't have namedropped the extremely important magical artifact...

a;lksfa;dfj; I hope this is coherent and I'm not just rambling, I think the tl;dr of this post is just, any take on S3 and Cass' villain arc that is more character-driven and builds on what S1-2 established is going to appeal to me. The Gothel twist goes in the opposite direction, so I have an extremely hard time with it and it’s frustrating. Giving more personality and lore to the drops is also always gonna be interesting! I enjoy headcanons that give the sundrop/moonstone added quirks. 

Honestly, something I enjoy about Moon Cass as a char is just how many directions I can see her going in as an antagonist that feel believable.
