Once upon a time Jade had asked you and your mutual group of friends to test out the latest version of her new project. A mental inventory system that had a very convoluted retrieval and sorting system. Luckily her team was quick to fix that after your group’s trials with it.

While it is great that he is going to help you out, he’s doing it out of fear and as fuck up as it is, it’s an advantage you have over him.

Though is it a good idea to go along with that? That could risk him fucking you all over and abandoning all of you last minute. You could gain his trust, maybe offer him something that he might want, but even then what would you give him, you have no clue if you have anything to offer him, not to mention that again, he could still just ditch the plan when the opportunity shows up.

s3 morgana being "beyond redemption" is soooooo crazy to me like yeah trying to kill the evil tyrant king whos been murdering every last one of your kind is sooooo evil lock her up and throw away the key!!

such a prime example of a kick the dog character too. like they cant condemn her for just fighting for her right to exist so they have her executing civilians and trying to have gwen executed to make her into the villian.

and! the same goes for morgause! literally what did she ever do wrong? uther conquered camelot (said by him in the episode where gili fights in the tournament) and then executed hundreds if not thousands of people with magic but morgause trying to kill the king is a step too far? why? its almost like the show is actually on uthers side 🤨🤨🤨🤨

which leads me to: the fact that we essentially watch the entire show through the pendragon perspective. merlin protects arthur so everything we learn about the purge and magic and the old religion is from uther/gaius. so, biased, to say the least. one of the most important things they tell you when researching history is to consider where your information is coming from and how that persons perspective influences their discussion of it.

which is why i also dont consider nimueh to be a villain. shes an activist! yeah she tried to kill arthur that one (?) time but he didnt even die so. doesnt count <3 but we SEE her having a conversation ALONE with uther where she says she didnt know what would happen to ygraine and i just cant imagine why she would lie. if she really wanted to hurt him she could have said she'd known and killed her on purpose but i dont think thats the case at all. she says she never would have helped him if she'd known what would happen. like, surprise, if you hunt and kill people for the crime of existing they will fight back and its not going to be the way you like it and innocent people will die. because thats war. you ruthlessly slaughter her people and she will slaughter yours.

worlds most unstructered post. professors hate her. anyway the show eventually starts to take on a very firm, "merlin has magic but ues not LIKE those other magic users therefore hes ok :) everyone else is evil tho. except the druids (sometimes :|)", whereby merlin using magic is only allowed if hes helping or saving arthur (except all those other times but we dont talk about those i guess) and his stance on magic eventually warps until hes just kind of horrible about it.

100% unpopular opinion but gaius should have died in s2 or 3. he influenced merlin far too much and basically never for the better. sorry to gaius lovers but i do NOT like that old man. he advises merlin EVERY time to not tell morgana about her magic (which she has no control over and therefore is manifesting in ways that will absolutely get her caught), to never help any of the unfairly persecuted people of the episode or even to use magic at all. hes a bootlicking coward who only helped people he cared for or when it suited him. how many people do you think he watched burn simply because he didnt agree with the way they used magic, whether it actually "evil" or not.

merlin's only friends who know about his magic are an old conservative man and a guy who dies right when merlin could have used the support of someone to help him "come out" to arthur about his magic.

im firmly of the opinion that had he told morgana about his magic everything would have been literally fine. because alone and with loterally no support system at all, is it any wonder that morgana would go down the road she did? after years of fear and watching people just like her be burned for the crime of existing, with no prophecy or friends to tell her that it wont always be this way. you dont have to be afraid because youre not the only one and i wont let anything happen to you. oh wait. she did get told that. by MORGAUSE. not about the prophecy but how can they be judged by trying to bring about change by themselves. by trying to kill a king whos killed so many of their own people.

if the intention of the show had been to give a poignant message about the cycle of abuse (morgana succumbing to bitterness and hatred just like uther) or how fear can control you (merlin eventually becoming essentially the bad guy, judging everybody who doesnt use magic the way he sees fit, staying silent and contributing to persecution of magic people because living in fear can make you paranoid and bitter (sound familiar?)) then i would applaud because wow did that make me fucking cry! and hit actually very close to home! and it was tragic and horrible but also inevitable

but as far as i can tell that was not at all the point, because in the end kilgharrah tells merlin the prophecy has been fulfilled, albion is united and magic returned! hurrah! but. um. did i miss something? when did that happen? oh, you mean when gwen is queen....? so.... gwen unites the land of albion and returns magic to the land? except, merlin seems to have lived on until the 21st century of our world and magic is not what i would call flourishing atm.

so i guess my question is... well actually i dont have a question. actually wait i do. what the fuck?

Also a lil more elaboration on this post from the OG guy in the system who talks this shit but it's also important to know when adopting radical self acceptance is that being a fucking idiot and a coward and crap literally has no inherent "oh Im a good or bad or cool or lame" person on it's own

Literally everyone is stupid in their own way and literally everyone has the things they are scared to deal with and face from time to time. I'm a part very dissociated from the concept of fear and my brain converts it fast to other shit, but I do fear letting myself down - both as a part and as a part ofba system - and doing harm by the few I deeply respect; momentarily I am prone to being scared of having my shit taken - trauma crap

That shits literally normal, being scared of shit is literally a completely normal and natural thing across almost all animal species (some argue all). There is no personal judgement attached to literally any feeling on its own.

The difference is whether you can look at that feeling and say "damn I'm scared and that a sucks ass feeling" and actually accept, address and deal with that feeling - or if you are going to deny-deny-deny.

And that isn't to say "Oh you are a stupid coward for wanting to deny it" because again, it is OK to admit you are scared and not ready to deal with something. That takes huge fucking balls to admit. If you aren't ready to deal with it, cool man that's fine, but do take a moment to actually affirm that with yourself - that CURRENTLY in the moment you are not ready to deal with it.

That is not "running away from it like a coward" that is acknowledging the truth of your current state and leaving space for it.

If you can get comfortable admitting that you are too scared to do something right now, you are inherently - in subtext - letting yourself know that 1) you accept that you are scared and it is a real thing about you that you are willing to embrace but also 2) that as much as that is a truth of your current state, that it is just that - a current state.

There literally is no shame or inherent judgement to be found in a feeling alone. Feelings alone don't mean shit. Feelings alone LITERALLY don't mean SHIT. It's how you handle and act in regards to them both internallyvwith yourself and externally with others that determines if you are being cringe (derogatory) or cringe (affectionate) and sorry not sorry, every action you do there will be someone who thinks you are cringe so theres no escaping being cringe WHILE being your authentic self.

Anyways, building radical self acceptance is a hard thing to do so I got mad respects for anyone building it. Most of the system doesn't get it yet either and so I get how hard it is and all.

I actively basically bully and harrass Riku about it 24/7 7 days a week 52 weeks a year for the past 3 years until they get it into their dumb skull. And while I call them a fuckin dumbass, I am pretty proud of how casually and readily they have learned to admit when they are being "a coward" which is easier verbage for them than outright saying "scared" which I'll take.

But honestly, get in touch with your vulnerable "not cool" parts of yourself that you are embarrassed about and just get used to stating it as it is. Those vulnerable and embarrassing aspects are only as embarrassing and insecure as you let them be. If you hide them and try to keep people from seeing it, of course you are going to feel scared to let others see it, of course you are going to feel insecure, and of course you aren't going to be confident when anything relating that comes up out of fear of your insecurity showing.

It's self assassination honestly. Judging your emotions and internal experiences like they mean anything other than a reflection of your current self and what you need us just not productive.

But I digress. Its a complicated and difficult thing to build and work on and itll always be more nuanced and specific to the individual than I can ever chart out in a casual ramble on some of my life philosophies and principles on shit.

So take home message? Try to stop judging your feelings and just, ya know, have them. They may suck but its just how it is in the moment and the moment can always change.

Well leshy and P03 oppose each other the most and it felt natural, Still at odds and also keep their personalities. I feel like grimmora and mags would switch though is because death is a very real thing, but magic is fantastical and actively tries to stop death. Grimmora would also be able to keep her more happy attitude with realism with magic as its more of system/skill. Mags would take death and the undead pretty good as well because. bro is just a lil insane all around. Also consider a skull army that he wont stop lying to and say they'll come back to life eventually. OK PAST THIS POINT IM GOING TO GO MORE IN DETAIL BUT THATS THE BASIC IDEA GO AHEAD AND USE/CHANGE TO YOUR LIKING IF YOU WANT, JUST GIVE ME CREDS IF ITS LIKE EXACTLY THE SAME. if you make it your own then you don't need to cred, idc this idea is like really basic imo.

L3sh, Scybe of Technology.

He's still stoic and very immersed in his world, However now with a new technological theming. He makes sure to have the player learn about the intricate details of the tech they use. He's kinda like a happy old I.T. guy, Using all of his tech to its max potential. Its very early and traditional 60's and 70's era stuff, Whereas P03's was futuristic 80's. He tries to make sure that it can be easily grasped for most however most 60-70's tech is just a mess no matter what. He made all his limbs wires that can extend and compress, Expand and slim. So yes he is tall and muscly but also no bro is bobot he aint got shit. This also applies to his hair that flows all the way down his back but he usually doesn't mess with it, In fact the wires there probably aren't even connected to anything he just thinks they look neat. apart from occasionally oh you know. Tearing people apart to try and 'give them a fair playing ground.' he's normal i swear you guys.

ON P0LRIOD/L3SH X phoe

Yes they are still divorced. The same reasons, L3sh is neglectful at times and Phoe can be an asshole. L3sh can be too logical as well and has a rule of 'If you can, So can I. If I can't, then you'll never.' Which can be really degrading sometimes. He would even consider himself better than Peo at times, If not barely an equal. Leshys capability mixed with P03's cockiness makes an occasional asshole. They probably got divorced bc of L3sh's murder experimentation problems and also going weeks on end ignoring Phoe. Bro just check on your husband please.

Unsure of how he makes cards yet, So heres a few options!

-He makes his cards by taking parts of you and tech-ifying you. Your mind isn't necessarily required, As long as he's got like an eyeball and a leg you're fucked. You get transferred once he's finished by 'rewiring and applyinh new hardware upgrades.'

-He still takes a picture, however. its a literal copier. like a fucking business copier but bigger. You know the ones, that are all chunky and shit and have like only 3 buttons and are barely hanging onto life. then you get sucked into the card. This one might be my favorite out of pure hilarity.

-He consumes you with those wires that act as his hair, And then meticulously rips out the most important/cherished parts of yourself out before turning into a card that exits out of his chest plate. This is the most personal out of the options here. and possibly sexual now that i think about it? Have fun dying i guess

giggling delightedly... ok listen he's maybe the worst guy ever but the issue here is that i love him. introducing you to faedren. he's a half-elf magus and he wields a bastard sword because i like the option of both dual/single-handed wielding but also because he's a bastard and i think it's funny. he's blonde. he walks up to you and smiles all charming but something about him is Wrong. and then he opens his mouth and he sounds like if you ran a frat boy through years of pretentious wellness retreats. he's a follower of calistria, goddess of lust, trickery, and revenge, and every other sentence out of him is about how in love he is with his goddess and how she's the most beautiful powerful perfect deity there is or how beautiful and perfect and healing bloody revenge can be. guy who sees you get pushed by somebody and comes over to put a hand on your shoulder, goes "hey, you don't have to take that. you are a strong, powerful person, and you didn't deserve that. don't let your heart sit with that hurt. you should Gut Them" and then waxes poetic about the wonderful catharsis of gory retribution and how it's all tied back to a goal-oriented mindset in the end. flirts with anyone possible. so insufferable that his party members literally wouldn't let him talk about himself for Weeks cause he's just so terrible to listen to. high charisma stat but he just fucking Sucks. and then you let him talk a little bit and it becomes clear that his "community" that he talks about taking him in when he was a baby is Definitely a cult. they're summoning demons to take revenge on people with the most power possible and it's absolutely a twist on calistria's Actual values cause her whole thing is Not to get caught up on unending revenge but faedren feels slighted and goes after it like a dog with a bone. hears a super powerful dhamphir say something negative about his goddess and has to be dragged away fuming by his party members going "growth mindset. i'm not strong enough to kill him horribly Yet." his whole terrible fuckboy schtick is cause he's learned that the only way he can access affection is through sex. he's for real in love with his goddess because she's the only thing that he believes really cares for him. he gets his chest rent apart and sees elysium (his heaven is full of hot women. go figure) and when he gets brought back his skin is Branded Back Together with the symbol of calistria and he's even WORSE about things after that (obsessed with having the symbol on him permanently). he gets close with the party members but doesn't know how to express that he cares about them. he's caught off guard because caring is never Easy and it always Hurts and the only affection he was ever shown as a child was conditional. he's got some fucked up views on pain and punishment because he was definitely abused as a kid. he attacks a dragon with a lightning spell imbued into his strike and does 200 damage in one hit and then whiffs every swing after that. he taught the little pumpkin leshy in their party to read. he might be getting turned into a vampire now. anyway all that to say that there is much happening with this guy and i love him very much. y'know. nice ass sorry about the mental illness king. intimidation stat crazy high and he's intimidated people into committing suicide twice. cornered an enemy on a cliff and made that bitch jump off. check out my faedren tag for more information 👍 :)

On the other, fighting and king says that's not what I remember from that night and just general nonsense like that while Mac is slowly dying of.... something. But he remembers holy shit he knows exactly how much effect he has on me..... PANIC

warning for extremely suggestive content towards the end // sequel to

worry begins to creep its nasty little way in about a week later. he valiantly tries to ignore it and tell himself he's victorious—his eye is back in his possession, and maybe that asshat finally took a hint and stopped chasing after it. then, another week passes... and another.

when it comes to the eye, wukong always acted like a man possessed. the fact that he hasn't made a play for it in a month, and that macaque hasn't heard hide nor hair of the guy in about as long, hints that something must be holding him up—and it must be serious.

that said, macaque has been desperately struggling to keep out of the business of caring about whatever the hell wukong is up to. so long as he leaves macaque alone, he couldn't give less of a shit. the problem is, he's only been telling himself that—his wretched, traitorous heart refuses to stop dragging him back in.

he can't help but wonder if it's because of that night. macaque has been instantly shutting down any memory of it before he can let himself linger and yearn. if it escapes his defences, he immediately thinks about the way wukong had described... obtaining his eye—macaque could fool himself, then, into thinking that wukong saw it nothing more as a trophy.

the problem is... it doesn't upset him anymore. he doesn't know if it's because wukong confessed the true reason why, or if these gods-awful shenanigans are wearing his anger over it down.

either way, macaque has it now, and wukong hasn't come for it yet.

he wants wukong to remember that night, wants it to have thrown a wrench in his psyche like it has for macaque. wants it to keep him up at night and wonder and realize exactly the mistakes he's made.

"you're mine forever."

sickening.

heat rolls low in macaque's belly.

and it does the same when finally, finally, wukong makes a move.

"what'd you do, nap the entire time you were gone? lookin' a little rusty there, great sage!"

he hears wukong growl and snickers vindictively. wukong disappears and macaque gasps as soon as a fiery presence snaps at his side. without looking, he raises his arms over his blind side and braces. a vicious kick connects and sends him shooting into the ground. all the breath is knocked from his chest and stars explode over his vision.

before he can get a grip on his existence again, a hand yanks him from the gravel and effortlessly lifts him off the ground, leaving his legs to dangle. he laughs dryly, breath catching on some blood coming from some mysterious part of his insides.

"w-wow, you really are r-rusty," he rasps.

wukong bares his fangs and shakes him once. "we wouldn't be doing this if you just left me and what's mine alone!"

macaque coughs. "is the poor baby g-gonna cry without his binkie? gods, you really are pathetic."

he's body-slammed back into the ground for his troubles. a small part of him is starting to think he's the masochist. wukong is just too fun to tease, he can't help it.

"you really do have a death wish, don't you?" wukong hisses from where he's straddled over macaque now. "why can't you just leave well-enough alone?" his eyes roam over macaque's face with something almost like franticness, traces of red and gold flashing in. "why can't you just," his jaw grits, "let me have this."

macaque spits a thick glob of blood at his face. it lands. he promptly wrenches his neck out of the way of a ground-cracking punch that flies in where his head had been just a second before. a manic grin splits his face.

"it's my eye, wukong, you freak. how 'bout you learn to leave me alone, huh? you were so good at it before!"

"what, like you left me alone?" wukong snaps right back.

macaque blinks, taken aback. the words replay, and then his heart starts to speed up. "i would if you just—just let me have my eye back in peace!"

wukong sneers, and then a vicious, sly grin tilts over his mouth. "i think you know that's not what i'm talking about."

no.

no way he remembers.

then, wukong's face is right in his, bruised and brilliant and beautiful.

"you stayed."

macaque's heart is thumping, so loud and fast that it's humiliating.

"you—" he grits out. "you were fucking drunk," he says in a scramble to save face. "and fucking—laid on me. you think you're made of feathers? boulders for brains—"

but wukong is still grinning, less vicious and more mischievous, like the cat who got the cream. agitation stabs at macaque.

"we wouldn't have been in that situation if you hadn't been drunk," and this time, it's his turn to grin, "off my blood. talk about wanting to be left alone."

red blooms over wukong's face as he snatches out of macaque's personal space, though the heat still radiates so thick and heavily between them.

"don't think that means anything coming from you, macaque," wukong hisses, hand going to press around his throat. "do i have to remind you who got drunk off of my blood first?"

an opening. macaque smirks. wukong is heavy over him, sure, but it can't stop him from shifting his hips upwards. wukong flinches.

"you forget, my king, exactly how delectable you are." one of his fangs shines in the sunlight above, and he runs his tongue over it while not missing the way wukong's eyes trace it at every step. he hedges his bets by lightly laying his aching hands over wukong's thighs on either side of his hips. "or... maybe you do remember. isn't it too easy to make you bleed these days?"

wukong yelps when, without warning, macaque digs his claws through his clothes and into his flesh. vice grips clutch his wrists and slam them back into the ground, and when macaque opens his eyes out of the startling pain, wukong's face is right in his. their harsh pants tangle. wukong's eyes are doing that thing again—roaming every part of his face, but... all macaque can do is stare at his mouth. he doesn't notice wukong freeing one of his hands until another roams over his chest.

he arches into the touch, moving their mouths that much closer, that much—almost—

and then something snaps. all weight is promptly gone from over his body. he heaves a breath, disoriented and searching in a frenzy.

wukong is standing feet away from him now, the necklace dangling in his clenched fist. he looks at it, then looks at macaque, who can't even out his breathing—and he isn't the only one.

still, that fucker has to have the last word, leering up and down at macaque's strewn form.

"you should probably take care of that." he gestures at the... problem in macaque's trousers.

heat and shame flood macaque's face, and he can't even get a word in before, there wukong goes, right over the horizon.

macaque collapses back into the destruction wukong caused by treating his body like a ragdoll. he can't even be upset about it. wukong is strong. no one knows that better than macaque. does he like being reminded of it?

stupid question.

he raises a shaky hand to look at it and sees stray gold dripping from his claws, down his fingers, palm, wrist... he's heated all over. he aches.

wukong has the eye... again. so now it's macaque's turn to chase. he can't be upset about that either, about this, the natural state of things. chasing wukong forever.

he can't even stop himself from licking his fingers clean, the taste thick and sweet on his tongue when his other hand shoves into his pants.

...

he awakens nude from the most fantastic sleep he's had in centuries—no nightmares, no restlessness, no insomnia, simply pure... bliss.

he goes from purring contentedly to wide-awake in less than a second. why is he naked. and why did he sleep so well. wukong never has a good sleep.

hand to his chest out of miserable habit, he flinches when he realizes two things: one, the pendant is gone. two, his skin is bare. his legs kick frantically, shoving off the blanket over his lap that definitely hadn't been there the last he remembered.

then, it all slams into him. in fact, the taste still lingers in his mouth.

macaque.

and that's the name he's panting too, when weeks later, he's back in isolation, paw plastered over his mouth as he tries to quell his frustrations with turns of fingers and fists.

he has the eye back now. so. now all he has to do is wait until the next time that asshole comes for it.

maybe then, he can come for wukong too.

I have been having a feeling that I get normally when I’m around Zachary but with Charlie and Jackson my heart beats very fast when I’m around them which is weird since I’m technically dead and I didn’t think my heart could still beat like I’m in love I don’t know whether or not tell Zachary about this I think he might just leave me if if I do

Meanwhile, with Charlie and zero

I noticed that my heart has been beating when I’m around Charlie and Jackson but I also feel that away around Aristotle but we’re already dating so I know I’m not losing feelings for them I know that this may be attached to love but I don’t think it is and I shouldn’t jump to conclusions

Zachary: hay Charlie!

Charlie: hay Zachary! What do you need?

Zachary: I don’t need anything I just wanted to see you!

Zachary: well emotions like happy, sad, angry and fear are emotions that we are born with and emotions like love, nervousness, embarrassment and discussed are emotionally kind of emotions you learn throughout life i’m surprised you haven’t asked this sooner since you were a robot

Charlie: yea my parents didn’t program emotions into me

Zachary: I mean your parents hate humanity, and the only humans they know is me and your sister so it makes sense they wouldn’t program emotions into you

Charlie: Well I have started feeling some human emotions and I do not know how I got them

Zachary: well, I’m going to guess that your hardware is still collecting data so that’s probably why you’re saying a fell emotions what emotions are you feelings?

Charlie: mostly anger, and what is love? Because I think I may be feeling that

Zachary: love is someone that makes you feel special whenever you are around them it could either be one person or can be several people and you’re heart goes crazy whenever you’re around those people

Charlie: well the closest thing I have to heart is a motherboard and I noticed that my system has been overheating a lot more lately

Zachary: then I guess that’s the equivalent to your heart beating since you’re a robot so you feel like that right now?

Charlie: kinda

Zachary: ohhh who do you like?

Charlie: where are the only two ones in this room dude

Zachary: well, there’s people in the hallway that could also happen if the person you like is in the room you’re in but you’re not talking to them

Charlie: im not going to tell you

I have a cat and her name is nova (supernova long form cuz she is a superhero who saves the universe >:D ) I have blue eyes, pink hair that I dye frequently but its naturally dark brownnnn. I thrive in chaos and am pretty hyper most of the time. But I'm also really scatterbrained. That, and my various mental health issues like depression and BPD but I don't let it stop me from being happy and cool :)

I used to struggle a lot with mental health but have found a nice balance in life and think positively and optimistically a lot of the time.

In my spare time I like to make sci-fi comics, watch sailor moon (and I've been obsessed with Bee and Puppycat) and be a silly little guy.

This week I built an Arduino game thing for school in a week!! And I bought star lights from Amazon to hang in my dorm room (secretly for blanket forts)

Saeran would be diagnosed with some stuff after getting out of mint eye too, and having you around, whos been through the system and sorta knows how it works would be a big reassurance. youd be able to support Saeyoung so well and he you, when you over extend yourself.

your optimism would be such a bright thing for Saeyoung. Saeyoung also tries his best to be optimistic and he also knows how sometimes youre being too optimistic to hide that youre struggling. Hed be able to recognize when your smile is a bit strained and reassure you that its okay to not always be happy and optimistic. no one is , and he and your friends wont tire of you for reaching out for help.

sci-fi is probably Saeyoungs favourite genre! hed never tire of you talking about the universe youve created and the stories within that universe. Bee and puppycat would be right up his alley haha.

knowing saeyoung the moment he discovers your love for blanket forts hed probably build one wayy too big for you to cuddle up together in.

not that it's a BAD thing. he wants to make people happy, and it makes him happy in turn when theyre cheering for him! thats fine! (an irl example would be like, I enjoy making art for others to make them happy. but I also enjoy getting positive feedback for my own satisfaction!) absolutely nothing wrong with it!

HOWEVER. the impression I've gotten so far is that yuya gets upset when his opponent is the one being cheered for (a good example was the michio duel and that annoying trivia kid duel. he didnt seem real happy when the audience was rooting for them and not him!) as opposed to…I cant believe I'm comparing him to dennis but. the dennis v gon duel was a great example of what I think a more genuine entertainment duel should be…they were playing the roles of hero v villain, and dennis was great at improv there, quickly turning into the villain when Straight Man to his Comedy Guy routine Gon accused him of being the Real Villain in that situation. like he ROLLED with it and was perfectly fine with gon winning bc it suited their lil story and the audience loved it! I think entertainment dueling SHOULD be like that, like improv and acting bc you're entertaining ppl. ur a performer. u need to go w the flow more.

(Okay, this might not have been the best duel to show it off bc 1. hes dueling JACK of all ppl who declared hes gonna WIN and. he Will. 2. this is a situation where hes trying to showcase the strength of the lancers, so it wouldnt do to THROW the duel. but he couldve played into jacks dramatics a bit, made himself out to be more of a dramatic underdog, or a potential upstarter…for wanting to be an ENTERTAINER I want to see yuya channel his dramatics a LOT more than he does. esp w jack of all ppl!) to me it feels like yuya also ties a LOT of his self worth to how other ppl perceive his role in duels too which is Unhealthy (and again. is an extension of the 'smile when u want to cry' stuff imo, also pretty unhealthy) I…dont know if any of this is That Deep or theyre just trying to make jack seem like an asshole. I WANT it to be this deep bc its a REALLY interesting trait for a protag to have!

-kinda love how ppl in the Tops are dressed like old timey victorians. (also a lot of them have very western names) it just creates a very. unique vibe

-can I also just say i LOVE LOVE LOVE the trope in ygo of 'person does what they think is the final finishing move, then theres smoke and everyone is like :0 and when the smoke clears, the person is still standing in the duel because of some trap/spell/effect' IT HAPPENS SO MUCH IN ARC V AND I EAT IT UP EVERYTIME.

-...jack gave this random child servant a card and told him it suited him and the kids mad jack 'changed' and got mad jack compared him to a 'weak card'...first off its gonna end up being smth like 'even weak cards have potential, none of them are useless, its like u, u feel like ur a low level but u also have potential' (which. very yusei thing btw) but also if my hero gave me a card i would literally be SO happy this kid is dumb asf. jack literally wasnt even being RUDE when he gave it to him and jack is usually SO Rude like CMON. extreme jamietrevor navalgazing. call me a gazy pie the way i be. baked into a pie crust staring straight up at the sky thinking about them. [please do not read i am being extremely insane]

as evidenced by my 239048 posts on the topic i am EXTREMELY into themes of self reflection, change, and identity in romance and the particular notion that love changes you in some way and trying to figure out in what ways how and when is a crucial, cathartic part necessary to being and maybe even accepting yourself in a relationship which. when i type it out. obviously yeah but. listen. LOVE IS A CHOICE WITH CONSEQUENCES. that's MY thesis statement dissertation graduate publication etc etc. nothing bowls me over more than blorbo realizing the enormity of their desire for other blorbo and the depths to which that informs and changes their own perception of self! i think. all of the fics i have written touch on that theme. anyways.

i am also thinking about general hockey meta which, here is where we will take a brief moment to reflect upon 1) literally every ethical/philosophical/sociological paper i have ever read on the theory of celebrities and fame and consuming content as stories and 2) bleak boyband bingo which is a kpop fic fest that literally CHANGED MY LIFE and changed the way that i interact with media and real person fiction and the general stories that i come up with and see in real life which leads me to 3) nothing in my life is ever original what do you mean i was destined to be a hockey fan all along because bleak boyband bingo creators were hockey fans... what... you're telling me that the fundamental piece of real life truth in fictional content scholarship was informed in large part by Hockey. and now im. in the hockey soup. ok this is quickly becoming an essay for another but anyways. hockey meta.

look. competitive youth hockey and the usntdp in particular is probably not the Greatest environment to grow up in. somehow i think you do not learn and experience the varied life skills & experiences needed to develop the crucial social parts of your brain. including how you handle relationships! how you see yourself! sport in general is probably not the best and we've plenty of accounts both historical & contemporary & personal and whatnot of the reality that being in a regimented system before your brain even fully develops is not the best for your sense of self especially after you leave the sport but THAT is also another essay. the other thing that is extremely trevor zegras specific is that the dude was in a boarding school which. ok. general fandom characterzation paints this dude with FOMO and I GET IT!!! boarding schools are also extremely not the greatest environment to grow up in. genuinely going to a boarding school before you learn how to set your own routines outside of what's necessary kind of fucks you up! im not speaking from experience im. not. like trevor at the tender age of 15 probably only had hockey and whatever the fuck he needed to do academics wise on his mind for routines! what about mental health and attention regulation and varied life experiences on your own initiative! anyways. ANYWAYS.

jamie to me is trevor's greatest foil and probably why i will always bat as hard for them as i do and not even in the enemies to lovers way it's just. you see a guy who's way more well-adjusted than you are and it Gets Personal. like ok dude lived presumably with his parents up until 16 and even then went to live in a billet family which i think provides a lot more sense of normalcy than whatever the fuck ntdp got going on because the families weren't as hockey adjacent afaik than the ntdp's structure. especially because if im remembering this correctly, the ntdp class of 2019 was supported in large part by the parents of the kids themselves rather than regular billets re hughes moving to michigan etc etc. so here's jamie. sociable and presumed level-headed enough to be named captain of the erie otters. canadian. normal billet family. he's got a lot of non-hockey life experience that informs his identity!

what i'm really trying to articulate that took me uhhhh 4 paragraphs to write is that there is a fic in me that is begging 2 be written wherein trevor is not the best dude! he's a little bit toxic and he's not that self aware but he's under the presumption that he is and that's what's limiting his growth! he's only ever had to think about what he wants and he's only ever been in, formative years-wise, an extremely isolated bubble since he was 15. he's nice though. charming and confident in himself and it's that same feeling that you think you're going to be really good friends with somebody but two months into the friendship you're getting icks and thinking that they're too annoying and whatnot. he's got severe fomo! toxic fomo even! he's not that confident in the world around him in the sense that he's just a KID. a really annoying ipad kid who hasn't learned about the general complexity of life outside of hockey! in contrast, jamie is so mature for his age and has experienced a lot more in life and seems to be confident in the world around him and in himself even without hockey, has his own friends in anaheim already and formed a great local support group, is on good terms and constant contact with friends and family, leaves the competition on the ice and brings none of the personal stuff off it. he's SO well adjusted with no hang ups and i want so badly for him to be the catalyst to trevor's ~conscious awakening~.

like in this fic trevor has SUCH a grade school crush on jamie immediately, begging to be his best friend and hanging out with him all the time because he thinks they get a long so well but in reality it's just jamie handling the situation with grace far above what's expected of his age and compsure that belies How Normal He Is. and it irritates trevor a little bit when jamie brushes him off to go be normal and do normal things like not falling into a codependent situationship 2 months into his pro hockey career but like! that's not gonna stop his mad stupid crush. and then he confesses to jamie and jamie's like :] "z you're great but i think we're too different" which sends trevor on a spiral of self reflection and growing up and realizing he doesn't HAVE to be as ~boring~ as jamie (he's grown as a person i didn't say HOW much tho) but like in the long run trying to be well adjusted and shaking off the internal rollercoaster of impulsitivity and jealousy would probably do him good. and maybe he goes on adhd meds or something because what is a michiganmerchant essay if not projecting neurodivergentness on all of my hockeys. ok thanks goodnight.
