2023 Writing Roundup

Thanks to @welcometololaland, @rmd-writes, @kiwiana-writes, and @orchidscript for tagging me for this one. I'm also going to say thanks to everyone who tagged me in the ao3 wrapped or other round up type things; I've been putting off doing my annual writing year-in-review because I always post it on the 30th or 31st. This one is new to me and I figured why not, I'll do it now. I published 31 fics this year (so far!), so safe to say I'm putting this partly under a cut to save your dashes.

Describe your WIPs Badly

Okay so I wasn’t officially tagged on tumblr but @cha-melodius did this and it looked fun so I’m doing it anyway!

Basically the goal is to summarize your WIPs badly— some of mine are badly described plots and some are just me poking fun and making a joke about the content, some are both lol. Please feel free to send me asks asking about ones you’re curious about, I love talking about ideas and sometimes it helps me get inspiration to work on them! Some of these are newer and some are ones I’ve mentioned before, but they’re all ones that have at least one sentence/deeper idea written (not always a good one, but an idea at least lol)

The real storms were the daddy issues along the way

Tom Hiddleston called Loki a mercurial spirit one time and I ran with it, now Loki and Sylvie are ghosts gently terrorizing and falling in love with Mobius who is just trying his best

Sylvie has only known Jack 10 minutes but if anything happened to him she’d kill everyone in the room and then herself

Everyone is drunk, Loki wants to kiss that old man so bad it makes him look stupid, and Mobius wants to kiss that god so bad it makes him look even stupider

Author is a swiftie and Mastermind is so Lokius coded it hurts

No I’m not over Loki season 2 and neither are Classic Loki, Kid Loki, and Croki

What if all the Lokis just loved themselves and their Jotun forms, wouldn’t that be nice? They don’t yet but they’re trying

Loki has grown so much but would snap Brad’s neck and like it if he so much as breaths wrong at Mobius again

So many hugs and softness that your teeth might fall out

All the Lokis getting the heavy dose of gender fluidity and self expression that marvel didn’t give them

Birthdays are weird for Lokis when they’re centuries old but their favorite silver fox is going to give them all the happiness regardless, dammit.

Author is also a Disney nerd and will make her blorbos experience Disney too

Sylvie is taking the end of season 2 a lot less well than it appears

Loki controls his timeslipping but really has a bad time as he thinks way too hard about “who” and what is at stake

Casey and OB are smitten, neurodivergent kings who are absolutely clueless despite being obsessed with each other, no I’m not taking criticisms at this time

The boastful origin fic that haunts me more than ever because we didn’t see more of him in season 2

Author putting two of the most attractive, badass women from marvel in a room together in an apocalypse and letting them take the reins

There are definitely other WIP docs that exist but none others (that I know of anyway) that have enough to summarize yet!

Might be double tagging but this is fun so if anyone wants to give it a shot!

Finally doing this! I am eternally grateful to @mirilyawrites for the tag!!!

Rules: post the top 5 works you're most proud of that you released in 2022 (not necessarily your most popular), your top 4 current WIPs that you're excited to release in the new year, your top 3 biggest improvements in your writing over the past year, your top 2 resolutions (ways you wish to improve your writing blog) for the new year, and your number 1 favorite line you've written this year!

Top 5 works I'm proudest of:

The Bored and the Furious (Sylki, E) mostly for my realistic sadist Sylvie

The Beauty And The Grace (Sylki/Lokius, M) because it was deeply personal and the first multi chapter fic I've ever done

In the face of certain doom (Sylkius, E) because it's so emotional and for the longest time I struggled with the setup

(Can't get) Away From This Love Affair (Sylki/Lokius, E) because I think it's so unique and very different from the rest of my work up to that point, and because it has my first (tiny, shitty) fight scene

Nothing But Time (Lokius, E) because I feel like I really captured a lot of what drew me to the ship in that one

Top 4 current wips l'm excited about:

-my fanfic of @dewdropreader's fanfic!

-Lokius body worship fic (aka I'm super horny for the Mobius tummy so Loki needed to be, too)

-the Lokius reunion kiss fic that is somehow both all there in my head and fighting me tooth and nail at the same time

-the sequel to my angstfest It Wasn't You (which is literally just more angst, please don't expect any resolution)

Top 3 improvements in my writing:

-I branched out a TON with what kinds of fics I wrote! From mostly just PWP to fluff, angst, humor, /reader, and more.

-I got more confident taking risks with things like figurative language, more 'artistic' formats, etc.

-this might sound weird, but I got more comfortable with using pronouns with scenes involving two characters with the same pronouns. I used to do that thing where I would avoid two 'he's in the same sentence, for fear of confusing the reader. But it always felt clunky. I got comfy with the idea that the reader is intelligent enough to figure it out in most places, and I think my writing flows so much better now.

Top 2 writing resolutions:

-finish some of these older WIPs that are all but abandoned 😅

-write or continue to write for other, non-Loki fandoms

(Possibly killing two birds with one stone by finishing off that nearly 15 year old Sparrabeth WIP 😂)

Number 1 favorite line:

That this man, who in reality was nothing more than ordinary and mortal, had taken the time to open him up, peeling back layer after layer, exposing him, digging deep, reaching down inside and holding his heart in his hands; that he had done all of that and seen him laid bare, seen all of him, and had stayed, had asked him to stay, had deemed him worthy; that for some reason, Loki had let him, had felt him chipping away at his defenses and allowed it; had offered up his heart for the taking and felt it safer, even, in Mobius’s hands than in his own.

Okay, this will be probably long and with many errors (my english isn´t very good) But I saw several posts here on Lokius tag, talking about this ship as result of gay fetish, and about non existing chemistry and how this ship doesn´t make sense etc… And from what I understood there is tagged Lokius because of genuine interest to understand others point of view, so here is mine: I wil try to explain where my frustration comes from, and how I feel about Lokius, Sylkie, AND representation + some other things which I saw here somewhere. But first of all: I like Sylvie, I don´t hate sylkie shipers, and after so many years reading fan fictions, I don´t mind selfcest – I read weirder things. I have some issues with this ship (the mainlythe fact that it isn´t Lokius), but this is not one of them. Also, I am not about to tell anyone, they shouldn´t ship sylkie.Ship whatever. And I LOVED the show as a whole.

I just want to defend my standpoint, that Lokius does make sense, people shipping it does make sense and whether it will happen or not, (I don´t have my hopes very high, and I learned to be very skeptical in this regard ) it is more than just about crack ship, or fetish. I´m honestly blown away that people are still surprised that this ship became a thing :D First of all, let´s look at some romantic story telling and tropes: I mean the way they introduced them in the first two episodes set the tone for all series and how the heck this isn´t romantic? Somehow there are all these romantic tropes existing in a show. They´re just there. Just chilling between Loki and Mobius and large portion of audience can´t even see them. (and some of those tropes were used for Sylki as well, so you could actually see them side by side)

For example: 1) traveling to the apocalypsis 2) breaking law/rules for the other 3) literally changing for the better thanks to the other 4) arguing like old married couple 5) saying secrets, personal things to the other 6) sharing glances, touches, visibly being happy around each other - in case of Loki happier then we´ve ever seen him before 7) being completely themselfs around each other 8) One knowing everything (even the worst) about other and still accepting him completely 9) teasing, being comfortable and domestic around each other 10) one being literally enthusiastic FAN of the other 11) Mobius defending Loki whenever he has a chance 12) Freaking amnesia trope that they pulled of in the end??? (It could be different Mobius, but point is he suddenly doesn´t know him - and Loki knows more, in contrast with the beggining) 13) the jealousy in ep4 14) Misunderstanding - when Mobius thought Loki betrayed him and Loki (thanks to Ravonna) thought Mobius betrayed him... 15) witnessing death of the other and being absolutely broken afterwards 16) The goodbye hug with romantic music in the backround 17) Saving life of the one (even when it means problems for the other ) - like Mobius saved Loki´s ass at least three times when he was trying to stop others from pruning him. 18) sharing deep conversations about meanings of life, freedom and how it would be fun to make some chaos and ride that fucking jet ski!!! 19) Inspiring the other 20) looking for each other (Mobius didn´t believe for a second, that Loki would die in the Void and the way how in the last minutes of the series Loki run through all places they were together when he was looking for Mobius... and I could go on. Point is, even if they are not planning to make Lokius canon, all these things are used on a daily basis to describe romance in media and they are used here. On top of that it´s just very poetic and cute, that this drama queen and powerful god of Asgard who looked down on people would find his match in someone, who is so quiet, ordinary on the first sight, and basically is just human from 90s, who loves jet skis. Mobius can´t even fight. But is highly inteligent and he also happen to be as good manipulator, such as Loki himself. - That´s why they work together so well. Mobius sees right through him and once Loki understands that, he drops his evil persona. Almost nobody expected to ship it for real. But story itself and chemistry between them just made it probably the most exciting duo in the whole MCU. And I mean it genuinely. Third episode, even though it was beautiful and Sophie was great in it (and is literally dipped in bisexual colors), is the least favorite for a reason. And that reason being, there is no interaction between Loki and Mobius whatsoever. Lot´s of people though that series slowed down a bit. Even when in fact there was more action, then when we watched Loki and Mobius working at the TVA.

(and let´s just talk about evil!Mobius narative for a bit and how some people say he is manipulative and toxic for Loki: show itself explore heavy themes and one of them is in Loki´s line: no one bad is ever truly bad and no one good is ever truly good. And as a theme in a fictional world, it is working as it should, for the story. When Loki and Mobius meet, one of them just killed lots of innocent people and destroyed almost whole city. The other one is a part of fascist organization – and in the beginning of the series they both believe what they´re doing is right. They´re both bad, they´re both good, they´re both broken. And they are changing with the help of the other.) From all reactions I watched - and there was many of them, lots of people actually didn´t see dynamic between Loki and Sylvie as romantic in the third episode. So it´s not like Sylvie and Loki had unequivocally love story right from the start.

The only difference is that lots of people won´t see romantic tropes, when it comes to two men in a mainstream show – show that isn´t primarily about relationships and problems that queer people has to face. Because in super hero story and science fiction we have to warn audience, that they´re about to watch two man in love, right? At this point It´s just frustrating really. There were many M/M dynamics that used similar story line, as for example Lucifer, or X-files, or Bone collectors. - But unlike those M/M pairings, no one was making fun of people for shipping main characters in these shows. But when it comes to two men suddenly you´ll see from all corners of the internet: “why can´t it be just platonic?” “There is not enough platonic relationships” “why can´t two man just be friends?” (They can and they almost ALWAYS are) and “if you think there something romantic between them, you´re delusional” “fetishist“ “And for god´s sake just let them be friends, Loki needs a friend more then....” oh wait, but Sylvie is allowed to kiss him. Sylvie doesn´t have to be just friend. (And I must say, that I love Sylvie, I liked most of the interactions between her and Loki and I think she is a great character ((I hope we learn more about her in the future)) it just doesn´t work for me as well as Loki´s dynamic with Mobius. Maybe partly because of chemistry between actors, partly because combination of characters and they´re personality and also because I had two whole episodes to fall in love with the pair before Sylvie was even introduced.)

First of all: people can be friends and then evolve into lovers. Not only it is common romantic trope, but it is also the most realistic one. And those relationships are usually strongest. second: If people want to see Loki in a platonic friendship so desperately, why can´t it be a woman for a change? They were acting like chaotic siblings for most of the episode three anyway. The age gap aspect is also very funny. Owen is only about 12 years older (That is not that much. But I imagine, some people would get uncomfortable. But If it was man and woman, most of them wouldn´t even blinked. But two men, that has to be somehow automatically son and father figure dynamic) And If you want to dive into age of an actual characters, then good luck with that in a series about gods, variants and time travel. Almost nobody cares about age gap between Lucifer and detective Decker, or Bella and Edward. On top of that, it was heavily implied, that Loki slept with older, silver haired guy in Ragnarok, so it´s not like he would have problem with that.

Different standards are projected in a way how we see romantic dynamics between fictional characters depends on what we are used to, how are we perceiving world around us, what we are expecting to see and ALSO, what we would like to see, that much is true. When people are used to make no differences between heterosexual and homosexual pairing, then everything what happens to the characters is measured with the same meter. (Even though I experienced queerbaiting many times (( Once upon a time, Sherlock, Supernatural, Good Omens – the last one hopefully is not the case, but I guess we´ll see)) I also saw lots of lgbt shows like Queer as folks and Sense8.) And when we are not used to see it the same way, well… then it looks basically like that one comment under Castiel´s “I love you” scene on youtube, that said “what a beautiful friendship”.

If we forget about all that chaotic mess behind the scenes (all those articles and contrary messages) What is happening in a show between Loki and Mobius can be objectively considered romantic and what is happening between Loki and Sylvie in a series can be objectively considered platonic (until the kiss) and vice versa. And then to see comments about how absurd it is to even think they have chemistry, and about gay fetish - it´s hard to swallow. I read posts about absurdity of a ship and how there is absolutely nothing that would suggests romance. Well there is, actually. But whether creators are going to work with it or not, that´s something we can only speculate. They already made Loki officially bisexual. So why should it be so absurd to assume, that there is an actual possibility of romantic subplot between Loki and Mobius? Oh right… it´s Disney and Marvel we are talking about.

So on a subject of bisexuality: Bi people can date whoever they want. But It is a little frustrating, when there is so many heterosexual pairings in the mcu and disney but when there is a promise of lgbt character (speaking of endgame) we get one line about date from a man we´ll never see again. And when there is a promise of lgbt representation you can´t even blink during movie, or you´ll miss it (Star wars, Beauty and the beast). And then Loki said “A bit of both, I suspect the same as you”. And I won´t lie, I was happy. And I think creators made biggest step yet with this one line (which is honestly terrible, that “a bit of both” coming from Loki of all people, is the biggest step forward.) But they played it VERY safe. Obviously, both Loki, and Sylvie are bisexuals, and in three episodes, we had Loki flirting with female flight attendant, Sylvie talking about her relationship with POSTMAN and then they fall for each other. So the only thing that suggests they are really as bi as Lamentis 1 is that little sentence, that can be edited out, or easily overheard. It´s the bare minimum. And I think that frustration with how freaking slowly we´re moving into some progress is understandable. From all those great M/M dynamics I talked about, those, that could make great love story, nothing happened, because too many people “don´t mind gays but don´t need to look at them” or are scared for their children. In 2021.

It is not a fetish to wish for a gay love story in superhero movies/series. (But anyway, I don´t think there is anything bad about it. Some men like to watch lesbian porn, some woman like to read gay porn. AO3 wouldn´t be were it is today, without people reading and writing slash :D – but that has little to do with what we actually see on tv)

I´m not delusional. As much, as I love these two characters together, I know how little chance it has. I´m not delusional. I´m just in the future, old and tired, waiting hundreds of years for at least one of my OTP to finaly become a fucking canon.

Kid Loki comes to spend a few days with Mobius and Loki. What if the few days became forever... ?

I've been wanting to include kid Loki for a long time, and many people have asked me to. So here it is, he is now a part of this little family. A piece that fits perfectly in the puzzle that is Lokius. I hope you'll enjoy it.

A family.

What did that mean?

Oh, he was part of a family, albeit a very dysfunctional one.

And now he had Mobius. Who was his family.

But having a family? Being a father?

"Hey sweetheart, you seem to be way off in your thoughts," Mobius said softly as he sat down beside him on the couch.

He put his arm around his shoulders and Loki leaned his head against him.

"Well, I was thinking about family."

"Your family?" asked Mobius curious as to where Loi's thoughts had taken him.

"Yes and no... actually family in general, being a father."

"I see..." replied Mobius understandingly before kissing Loki's hair and continuing, "And would the reason for these thoughts be the young boy playing with Croki right now?"

He turned Loki's face towards him to observe his reaction.

Loki blushed slightly and Mobius saw him hesitate to answer.

"Hey Loki, there's no wrong answer, tell me what's on your mind."

"I promise you, I brought him here for no particular reason," Loki began.

Mobius knew this, since it was he himself who had offered to take young Loki for a few days, the young boy having known nothing but the Void. Moreover, if he was honest with himself and with Loki, Mobius had a particular reason, a hope to which he did not dare to indulge. But if he asked Loki to tell him what was on his mind, then he had to do the same. It was the very principle of the harmony of their relationship.

"I did."

"Huh?" Loki raised his head in surprise.

Mobius swallowed and it was his turn to blush slightly, before continuing, "I did, I brought him here for a reason."

Loki scrutinized him for a long moment before answering, "You mean...'"

Loki straightened up and took Mobius' hands in his, the glimmer of hope in his eyes almost broke Mobius' heart, if he himself wasn't filled with the same hope.

Loki continued, "You...me...the kid."

Mobius laughed lightly as he clasped Loki's hands.

"You're going to have to make a coherent sentence, sweetheart."

Loki ran his hand over his face and bit his lip as he did every time he wanted to ask and didn't think he had the right.

"Would you want Loki to come live with the two of us?"

Mobius shook his head, a soft smile on his lips, "No sweetheart, don't ask me what I want, tell me what you want."

He squeezed the man's hand encouragingly.

"I want Loki to come live with us... err... permanently."

He closed his eyes as he waited for Mobius' response.

"Hey Croki... you look comfortable here. Mobius and Loki are being nice to you it seems."

The young Loki couldn't help the slight note of melancholic envy that colored his voice.

As if Croki had sensed his sadness, he approached the young boy and laid his head on his lap. Loki's hand came to scratch his head and the alligator grunted with satisfaction.

He continued, "They're being nice to me, but I know it's not going to last, I'm going to have to leave. But I'll tell you a secret, Croki, I don't want to go back. You and the old man were my only friends, along with Loki and Mobius now, and when I leave here I will be alone again."

Croki stepped back and headed for the door.

He stopped and looked back, as if to signal the boy to follow him.

Loki got up and reached Croki's position, where the door to the living room was slightly open.

He heard bits of conversation between Loki and Mobius who were sitting on the couch. Loki had his back to him.

It was Mobius talking.

"And would the reason for these thoughts be the young boy playing with Croki right now?"

They were talking about him. The young boy's heart began to beat a little faster as he waited for Loki's answer, but it was Mobius who continued in the face of his elder's silence.

"Hey Loki, there is no wrong answer, tell me what's on your mind."

"I promise you, I brought him here for no particular reason." began Loki.

Young Loki's heart sank slightly. Of course, what reason would they have for bringing him in. It was only pity. They didn't need him.

"I did."

"Huh?" asked Loki, surprised, echoing what the young Loki was feeling.

"I did, I brought him in for a particular reason."

"You mean..."

Once again the emotion in Loki's voice echoed that of young Loki. An emotion he dared not name.

He saw Loki take Mobius' hands and move closer to him and heard him say despite the low volume of his voice, "You... me... the kid."

"You're going to have to make a coherent sentence, sweetheart."

After a moment of silence, Loki spoke in a shy voice that the young Loki did not know.

"Would you want Loki to come live with the two of us?"

Young Loki's heart broke as Mobius shook his head and he had already turned back inside the room when he heard Mobius' reply.

"No sweetheart, don't ask me what I want, tell me what you want."

"I want Loki to come live with us... err... permanently."

The young Loki, who had once again walked to the door, could not hold back a hiccup of surprise.

Mobius looked up at him, and as he looked at him replied to Loki, "How about you ask the main interested party?"

Loki turned his eyes in the direction Mobius was looking and his face lit up with a smile.

The young Loki took a small step forward and Mobius beckoned him to join them. He moved forward, pushed by Croki who followed him to the sofa where Loki and Mobius moved aside to make room for him between them.

Mobius put a hand on his shoulder and asked softly, "What did you hear?"

The young Loki swallowed and answered shyly, "Um...everything."

"And what do you think? What do you want?"

The young Loki had lowered his head and was looking at Croki at his feet.

The alligator, as if sensing his distress, nudged his feet several times with the tip of his snout.

With an expression and manner so similar to that of his elder, the young Loki whispered in a barely audible but hopeful voice, "A family?"

His older counterpart gently lifted his head and asked with an engaging smile, "And does that family include everyone in this room?"

The younger Loki nodded his head.

Loki took the younger boy's hand in his own and Mobius, who had not said anything until then, placed his hand on the two linked hands.

"Young Loki, welcome to our family. By becoming a full member of this family, we promise you commitment, understanding, sharing, acceptance and most of all love. The promise to be loved as you are."

Mobius finished with a wink, "Are you ready for this?"

The young Loki placed his other hand on their three linked hands and looked at them all before answering, with a clear tone and bright eyes, "Yes."

Croki grunted in approval, breaking the emotion of the moment and triggering a burst of laughter from both men and the young boy.

As the young Loki leaned forward to pick up the alligator in his arms, Loki and Mobius kissed over the leaning boy.

Then as he righted himself and leaned back against the couch, they each put an arm around the young boy's shoulders.

Loki let his eyes slide over this new family, ending up in Mobius' eyes where he read the same emotion.

They were a family.

A little later that evening, as Mobius was washing the dishes, he called out, "Loki!"

"I'm here," both Loki answered in concert as they entered the kitchen.

Mobius rolled his eyes, "Of course..."

The two Loki exchanged a wink and chuckled softly.

Mobius continued, "I must be a masochist, two Loki in the same family..."

The taller of the two Loki replied, "But I have a solution, to prevent a situation from happening again, just call me Sweetheart all the time when you want me to come over."

The young Loki chuckled and Mobius replied, "All right, then Sweetheart you'll want to dry the dishes and Loki can put them away."

Both Loki's pouted so similarly that Mobius couldn't help but laugh.

Then as everyone began to go about their respective tasks he added, "I warned you Loki, in this family we are sharing, which means sharing everything, even the less pleasant things like chores."

As Loki tiptoed to put the glasses away, he said softly, "That's just perfect."

Hearing this, Mobius and Loki nodded and exchanged a smile.

They were a family.

So... Lokius....

Loki and Mobius would make an interesting couple. I think the two are adorable as like a BROTP, but as a couple... ejhbcejh?

Let's go over their personalities. I'm starting a new segment here on this blog called compatibility check. So here's Lokius' compatibility check. I'll be basing the compatibility of a ship based purely off of differences and similarities, aka: Are they too similar? Are they too different? And do their personality traits affect the compatibility?

After making this I feel like Mobius and Loki are just.... too different. I'm really sorry, but let me break it down.

First! Mobius is a workaholic, which you can tell by his love for his work. It gives him purpose, and even after Loki and Sylvie take the TVA down (which they will, I'm sure) I think he'd want to keep working for the greater good. And if Loki and Mobius end up together, I feel like Loki's fun-loving and free-spirited personality would definitely clash with Mobius' workaholic nature.

Loki would definitely want to go out and have fun, but Mobius would be working and be busy. Usually, when such a couple gets together, they drift apart due to lack of time spent together. So they would definitely not work out on that spectrum.

Next, Loki being calm and Mobius being short-tempered. Ya love to see it. Someone short-tempered needs someone calm, to keep them cool, and I feel like Loki definitely would do that for Mobius.

Okay, next we have the sexuality clash. Loki is definitely bisexual, but Mobius' sexuality is unknown. I really don't think he gives off gay or bi vibes, but maybe my gaydar's broken. Or maybe it's just Owen Wilson's portrayal of the character. Not that he didn't do an amazing job. So, Mobius could be straight for all we know.

Lastly, the biggest clash of all! LOKI IS IN LOVE WITH SYLVIE. Don't pull any of that, "Oh it's selfcest!" or "He doesn't love her, he's just confused!" bullshit on me.

Saying that it's selfcest and that they have the same DNA is saying Loki has the same DNA as a fucking alligator.

And he doesn't really love her?! Like, open your fucking eyes. Sylvie and Loki have obvious chemistry and I really don't want to go through this again, but I will.

That kiss was not a distraction or a manipulation on Sylvie's part because she didn't NEED a distraction. Loki's guard was already down and she really could have skipped the kiss and pushed Loki straight into the TimeDoor if she really wanted to, but she CHOSE to accept her feelings first, because she knew that if she didn't, the guilt would haunt her.

This reasoning failed her, and she collapses to the floor with the weight of her mistakes after killing He Who Remains, the mistakes being pushing Loki away and killing He Who Remains.

Plus, every Loki is supposed to betray someone they love and Sylvie's was Loki, implying that she did, in fact, love him.

Heartbreaking notions aside, Lokius would simply not work out, if not for one reason, then the other.

Also, like I've said before, having Loki date a man straight after coming out as bisexual is a horrible decision from a business standpoint.

If Marvel had chosen to have Loki and Mobius get together, it would cause an outrage and they would lose approximately 50 percent of their customers, and Marvel would probably lose a lot of money. So when it comes to a big decision like this, companies like Marvel choose to break down a huge step into smaller steps, so they lose less customers and have time to pick up new ones to replace them, which sounds horrible, but hey! That's business for you.

Also, isn't it kind of weird that a 17 year old girl sitting in her room was able to figure that out and not grown-ass adults, many of which have probably done a business degree or whose majors are business?

Like actually, this whole thing just gives me less and less hope for humanity.

loki finale ask (finally)

tbf i didn’t really go in blind because i am an internet addict. parts that were already spoiled for me include:

mobius doesnt know who loki is 😭

sylvie and loki kiss (why!) & she immediately transports him back to the tva. so presumably wasn't actually that romantic, just manipulative (still bad)

the multiverse gets created

kang is the one who remains

actually watching the episode taught me that:

kang created the tva is because he’s a genius egomaniac who wanted to keep himself safe from all the other genius egomaniac versions of himself (this totally works given his comic origins, he's dealt with many versions of himself, eg. immortus, but i have a lot more questions below)

sylki kiss was definitely not romantic. she tricked him so she could kill kang. (still not a good enough excuse smh)

my interpretation of their fight: neither loki nor sylvie, if they 100% knew that kang was telling the truth about the tva, would kill kang. sylvie told loki she was doing this because she thought he was lying. (not totally true to loki's characterization imo, i'd think that both loki and sylvie would rather deal with infinite kangs than give up on free will)

new mobius doesn't know who loki is not because the tva wiped his memories, but because this is a totally different version of mobius (unmined angst potential imo)

ravonna fights mobius, lets him live, and goes out in search of "free will", and may align with kang in the future, since ravonna in the comics is kang's wife. (curious to see what they do with her. i have Thoughts on her place in the whole religious allegory of the show i will explore in my wowki fanfic)

me overthinking things

if kang knows all why would he go through all this trouble to lead loki and sylvie here? he couldn't have done this in an easier, less heartbreaking way? his plan was so contrived :/

one question i've kinda pushed aside for the show is: what kind of time travel disruption would qualify for a nexus event? because technically any variation, no matter how small, should create a branch in the timeline, because 2 contradictory things can't happen in the same timeline at the same time. but now we might have a kind of answer: if kang founded the tva to avoid other versions of kang, he doesn't need to make sure there's 1 sacred timeline, he'd just need to make sure all the variations are so small that the infinite timelines are basically the same, so there's basically infinity copies of the same timeline in existence, thus averting multiversal war between egotistical kangs.

why was there that arbitrary barrier past which kang couldn't see? yeah, ✨suspense✨ and ✨plot✨, but it's arbitrary, and it really would've made no difference if he knew what happened to him. in fact i quite like the idea of kang walking into his own death.

thoughts that don't really fit on this list

the finale was awful. not just the sylki kiss & bad narrative choices or whatever. there was so much padding and exposition, jonathan majors's performance totally took me out of it (i doubt he's a bad actor, this episode didn't give him a good opportunity to shine), the writing was super slow and bad, this ep could have been slimmed down to like 15 minutes because not a lot actually happened.

natalie holt's music — both the titles (lokius!) and the actual tracks — slap so hard. probably the best soundtrack in the mcu other than black panther. she really gets the show

production & costume design of everything related to kang was amazing, felt very vast, old, and regal

sylvie is acutally a surprisingly well-realized woman character and i'm quite proud of the show for that. (unfortunately neither her nor b-15 are fully realized until they kiss each other which has not happened as of yet)

please watch this it has brought me great comfort

Tony was sipping his glass of wine in front of Steve when suddenly he almost spilled it in shock at what he saw over Steve's shoulder.

He put his glass back down and rubbed his eyes, cleaning his glasses to be sure of what he was seeing.

"Tony!"

Steve snapped his fingers in front of him several times to get his attention and called out to him several times.

"Tony! Sweetheart! Are you with me?"

Tony leaned over to Steve and whispered, "Don't turn around just yet, but I think Loki is here..."

"What? Loki?!"

"Shhh!" Tony put his hand over his mouth, but it was too late, the god had looked up at them, and a horrified expression was painted on his face as he leaned toward the gray-haired man in front of him.

Then Tony saw the man in question get up and walk toward them. He didn't look threatening, but as a precaution Tony had his hand ready to activate his suit if necessary.

The gray-haired man walked toward them with his hands in surrender to show that he had no intention of harming them.

He stopped in front of their table and spoke before the stunned eyes of Tony and Steve.

"Good evening, my name is Mobiu M. Mobius and I am an agent working for the TVA."

Steve interrupted him, "TVA , You mean the Time Variant Authority?"

Mobius nodded, "That's right. I work for the head office of the organization you dealt with in the debriefing after the snap. Obviously, that's Loki with me there, but this is not-"

With a gesture he calmed the two men who wanted to stand up, "Please let me finish."

"But as I was saying, this is not the Loki you know, or rather, it's not completely him. Remember when you did your time travel to New York and the tesseract disappeared? It's that Loki, that Loki that disappeared with it and..."

An hour later, Mobius left the two men dumbfounded at their table as he went to join an anxious Loki on his own.

Mobius leaned over to him, kissed him gently on the forehead before sitting back down and saying softly, "It's okay sweetheart."

He intertwined his fingers with Loki's on the table and told him about the conversation he had just had with Tony and Steve.

"And you're sure, they won't do anything?"

Mobius nodded, then answered softly, "they just invited us to share a coffee, I think to assess the situation for themselves."

"And you said yes?" asked Loki, wary.

"I said I'd talk to you about it first, which is what I'm doing." replied Mobius in a soothing tone, squeezing Loki's hand.

"What do you think?" queried Loki.

"You're free to say no, but don't you think it would be a good way to get some closure on New York, sort of?"

Loki drained his glass in one gulp to give himself composure and said in a low voice, "It's okay, but you stay with me, all right?"

Mobius leaned over and kissed him reassuringly then said, "Together, all time, always."

Then he turned and nodded toward Tony and Steve's table to let them know it was okay.

A little later, they all met over coffee, and after an awkward silence they began to talk. Loki suspected that he surely owed it to Mobius that the discussion went much better than expected, he also knew that it would take more than a coffee to change things, but it was a start and thanks to Mobius, whose hand on his back had not left him during the whole discussion, he started to believe once again that things and people could really change.

That's how, a few months later, he found himself on a beach sipping a cocktail with Tony while Mobius and Steve raced each other on jet skis.

"Thanks, for doing this Tony."

Tony turned to him, and looked at him with a surprised look over his sunglasses, "For doing what?"

"For enabling this." Loki pointed to their lovers who looked like they were having fun on their jetski and continued, "This is one of Mobius' biggest dreams, and I didn't really know how to make it happen, because even with all the magic in the world, the technical details were a bit complicated. So thank you."

Tony clinked his cocktail glass against Loki's, "You're welcome. Steve had never experienced it either, so we killed two birds with one stone, and what is better than making our men happy, right?" he winked before taking a sip of his cocktail and lying back in his lounge chair enjoying the sight of his lover.

Loki, seeing that Steve and Mobius were getting closer to the jetty, got up and walked towards Mobius, a towel in his hand. He crossed Steve who was walking faster.

"He's super happy you know." the tall blond man told him with a wink before continuing on his way.

When he got to Mobius, what struck Loki the most was how happy his lover looked. He felt a little pride in knowing that he had contributed to it.

He put the towel around Mobius' neck and pulled him to capture his lips before wrapping his arms around him and burying his face in his neck, breathing in the smell of sun and salt.

"So? Is it like your imagination?" he asked with a muffled voice.

Mobius kissed the top of Loki's head and smiled against his hair as he replied, "Perfect my love, thank you."

Loki stepped back a little and replied, "It's mostly Tony you have to thank."

Mobius shook his head, took his hand and they began walking towards the other two men.

"I know it was your idea Loki, you asked Tony and you did it for me."

He stopped to take Loki's face in his hands and kissed him tenderly.

"I love you.'

Steve kissed Tony before sitting down next to him on another lounge chair. They watched as the two men walked toward them.

Tony chuckled, "Sometimes our lives are really surreal, with everything that's been going on, but oddly enough, on a day like today, I feel like everything is in its place you know, like..."

Steve took Tony's hand, kissed it and held it in his own.

As he watched Loki and Mobius embrace each other before heading back to them, he continued Tony's line, "… like all's well that ends well." _________
