I don't remember much, but I remember some scenes. The idea of the story was something like if you can't beat them, join them to your sect. WWX doesn't create the Wei sect, but everyone seems to think so. Meng Yao gets locked up in Yilling and becomes something like the administrator of WWX. NHS has an information network and gives everyone a messenger bird except WWX and WWX makes a dead bird serve him. A crow, I think. I think NHS also brings them food and helps improve the town. And I also think he makes the design of Wei Ying's sect's robes.

I don't remember more, but I know that I really liked the Fic and it was long.

Jiang Fengmian was in love with Cangse Sanren

Rating: RUMOR

Some characters, notably Wang Lingjiao and Madam Yu, bring up the gossip that Jiang Fengmian was in love with Wei Wuxian's mother in order to reason why he seems to favor Wei Wuxian over his own wife and son. Despite the idea originating in the text, however, there is no concrete evidence either way, so it cannot be considered "canon." Instead, this is only an in-text rumor.

Supposedly, "the entire cultivation world knew" the rumors surrounding the Jiang marriage drama, but as we learn in the very first chapter, the information spread throughout the cultivation world is incredibly inaccurate and relies on misinformation (Seven Seas Ch. 1, Ch. 12).

We do know that even at the time, people thought Jiang Fengmian and Cangse Sanren were romantically involved:

Speculation abounded that Cangse-sanren was extremely likely to become the next mistress of Lotus Pier. To everyone’s surprise, it was around this time that the Yu Clan of Meishan proposed a marriage alliance with the Jiang Clan of Yunmeng. (Seven Seas Ch. 12)

But as established above, while the popularity of this rumor implies that it may have been based in fact, the assumptions that the "cultivation world" makes are not a reliable source of information.

Crucially, of the few characters who mention the rumor aloud, it is Madam Yu herself who first brings it up with her husband:

"I refuse to believe you haven’t heard the gossip—that after so many years, Sect Leader Jiang is still obsessed with a certain Sanren and sees his old friend’s son as his own. Everyone speculates whether Wei Ying is your…" (Seven Seas Ch. 12)

But only a few pages later, Wei Wuxian refutes this "nonsensical bullshit":

“My mom and dad are real people and have names. I can’t stand when people blindly assign me to other families!” (Seven Seas Ch. 12)

With all this contradictory evidence in the books and no first-person account from someone who witnessed their relationship (Wei Wuxian wasn't born yet; Madam Yu only refers to the gossip as if she learned it second-hand; Jiang Fengmian never confirms nor denies), there is no way to know for sure whether Jiang Fengmian had feelings for Cangse Sanren.

However, canonically, multiple characters labor under this assumption. In the end, because of the complicated nature of this topic and its roots in the text, the idea that Jiang Fengmian was in love with Wei Wuxian's mother has to remain a rumor.

I love your mdzs avatar the last airbender au so so sooooo much!!! Do you have any thoughts on what kind of benders/nations the other mdzs characters might be? (Also your art is so wonderful in general I've loved everything you've posted for this fandom, thank you for sharing your art with us!)

I’m glad you like it!! ATLA and MDZS are some of my pieces of media, so I love being able to weave their worlds together. I struggled between whether to make Wei Wuxian an airbender or a firebender, and that really played into my world building for this AU. While I think the dynamic, kick & flip-heavy fire bending martial style (alongside their dress code) really fits Wei Wuxian, I decided to make wwx an airbender due to his carefree and fun-loving personality, and Baoshan Sanren being an airbender.

Backstory-wise, Baoshan Sanren is the leader of a small collective of remaining air nomads living secluded on a mountain. Air bender Cangse Sanren left to roam the world, and she eventually met Wei Changze, a water bender from the Jiang swamp tribe.

The Nie live in hostile mountainous regions and are earthbenders renowned for their extraordinary strength.

The Jin make up another part of the earth kingdom, and are specialty metal benders. They’re very affluent due to their weapons and jewelry trade. I like to headcanon the Mo clan being sand benders— for no actual reason. I just think sand bending is neat. If Wei Wuxian were to be reborn as Mo Xuanyu in this AU, that’d make him one of them.

The Lan are the equivalent of the northern water tribe; they live far north & are surrounded by snow and ice. Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji are the first and second princes, respectively.

The Wen are the fire nation— as much as I didn’t want to fall into stereotypes, it just works too well. They literally live on a volcano & attack the other kingdoms in order to “share their wealth of knowledge”. They have the Jin crafting their metal tanks because Jin Guangshan is a power-hungry POS.

Additional points:

I like to think of Meng Yao as a really crafty non-bender; constantly underestimated because of his perceived weakness. He uses that against them.

Nie Huaisang is an earthbender. He just pretends he isn’t. All non-benders in the Nie clan are still extraordinary warriors— like the kyoshi warriors!

The Meishan Yu tribe are firebenders; lightning benders, to be exact. Madam Yu is a lightning bender. I’m as of yet undecided on whether Jiang Cheng's bending takes after his mother or father.

Jiang Yanli is a healer!! A really good one!!

Wen Ning is a non-bender, but a very good archer. Wen Qing uses lightning bending to defibrillate people.

Lan Qiren IS master pakku.

Wei Wuxian can see spirits!! He is a very spiritual boy!! Instead of inventing demonic cultivation, he invents spirit-bending and learns energy-bending from the lion turtles.

Blood bending is forbidden in the Lan Sect. Lan Wangji's mother was secluded for practicing blood bending.

No wonder the curtains were so firmly nailed to the walls! Any bit of demonic energy escaping the room could call down a veritable army of righteous cultivators! What sort of person in their right mind would dare to summon a spirit into their own body using resentful energy in the Cloud Recesses of all places? What kind of person would scoff so rudely at the Lan Clans most important rule, ‘Do not fraternize with evil?’ After being dead for four years, Wei Wuxian wakes up in a body he doesn't really feel comfortable with, in a place that he's sure wants him dead, and married to a man who surely hates him. Kay's comments: Another story that I'm currently following and which always makes me shout in excitement when the notification for an update comes! A story in which Wei Wuxian gets brought back to life way earlier, but a) now he's stuck in a woman's body, b) it's a woman of the Meishan Yu Sect and c) he's married to Lan Wangji. I really love the character developement in this and the life this story gives to background characters and it's always good to see Wangxian reunited and married sooner. Poor Wei Wuxian only has to deal with a dysphoria and transphobia now, but at least the Lans are supportive and help him to the best of their abbilities when it comes to this. I also really love the relationship between Wei Wuxian and Lan Sizhui here - our little radish is a lot younger too after all. Excerpt: “Wei Ying.” Lan Wangji said it so softly, so tenderly. It almost hurt to hear. Wei Wuxian had never heard Lan Wangji’s voice so soft, and yet it felt so familiar and inviting. Any guilt that Wei Wuxian felt for being on the receiving end of such care was whisked away. He wanted to melt right there. Instead, he tensed. “Ah, isn’t interrupting people breaking the rules? How did you guess so fast? I barely made it a single day without someone recognizing me. What gave it away?” He blabbered, fast paced and without a breath. “Listen, Lan Zhan, I’m really not going to do anything bad, I’m not eve-“ Lan Wangji grabbed his hand, and Wei Wuxian stopped in his tracks. It wasn’t a very strong grip. If he wanted to, Wei Wuxian could break free or tug his hand back. Lan Wangji’s hand seemed to tremble as if ready to pull back at any sign of discomfort. But, Wei Wuxian did not move, simply waiting. With no resistance, Lan Wangji turned Wei Wuxian’s hand over so that his palm was up, then placed the jade token on it. With both of his hands, he closed Wei Wuxian’s fingers over the token and pushed it towards Wei Wuxian’s body. “What?” “I will not trap you here.” Lan Wangji stood up. “Please let me attend to your wound.”

Saw a post floating around about how a female Wei Wuxian probably wouldn’t be allowed to learn how to cultivate bc Gender Politics and Madam Yu so I wrote a couple lines.

Wei Ying is a passable cook only because Jiang Yanli loves to cook. Sect Leader Jiang had appointed Wei Ying as his daughter’s personal attendant. She’s rarely spent a day away from Jiang Yanli and between chores and Jiang Yanli’s passion, Wei Ying has figured out which tricks ensure a meal is well-prepared. Besides, what husband would want a wife incapable of cooking him a simple meal? And for years now, Wei Ying knows that she’ll have to find herself a good husband because Jiang Yanli would marry Jin Zixuan and the Jin would have no use for Wei Ying. “Thin slices,” she tells the boy, guides his shaking hands to the root. “You have to cut them into thin slices.”

“Jiejie,” the boy whispers. “Jiejie, is anyone—”

“Don’t speak of it,” Wei Ying replies, puts the vegetables into the broth.

Had she worn the hairpin Jiang Yanli gave her, she’d have a single dose of poison. Enough for a man like Wen Chao were he too drunk to manage his cultivation. At least, that’s what Wei Ying imagines, though she has no idea how low one’s cultivation has to be to be afflicted by poison. She thinks of gathering herbs from Jinzhu and Yinzhu’s garden as if it hadn’t burned.

“Jiejie?” The boy presents his lotus root and Wei Ying forces a smile.

“Well done, now taste the broth and tell me if it’s missing someone.”

The other sects wouldn’t let this assault on Lotus Pier stand. Someone will come for them and until then they just have to keep their heads down.

Cw: (fictional) physical and emotional abuse

I find it so amusing that a lot of people when discussing YZY'a abuse of WWX either claim that it wasn't that bad (in fact, it was that bad, and it's even clearer in the lotus pod extra), that it was acceptable in that society's culture/is historically correct (ignoring the fact that the author is a modern person with modern values telling you through the text how fucked up that was and how in the text no one else exhibited the same behavior as her despite it being supposedly their right to; they had better morals and ethics than her) or that WWX was supposed to be singled out and endure the punishment because he was the Head Disciple and this is the point that really gets to me because... Why do people think YZY has any right to punish any disciple?

She forced her way into marrying JFM, then made it her personal mission to make everyone's lives hell with her entitlement and abuse (a side note: I do think most of JFM's passiveness and apathetic nature is actually a result of said abuse, a self-preservation mechanism of sorts, but that's both personal and topic for another post). YZY married into the clan and gave birth to two children, one of them the heir, but that's literally the only thing she does for YMJ. She rarely spends time at Lotus Pier, what little she spends there are unpleasant to everyone involved. Her vitriol poisoned JC against the values of his own clan, the one he's supposed to inherit, and made it impossible for JFM to even try to teach him (and I honestly commend him for still trying anyway, as seen post-Xuanwu incident). She disrespects the dead and drags their names as though they're trash — one of them being WCZ, who used to be a part of YMJ and (possibly) made good contributions to the clan, as he was let go peacefully. And, the most important of them, she rejects the title of Jiang-furen. She always goes by Yu-furen (a title that belongs to her older sister, not her; at best, by logic, if she was still in Meishan Yu, she'd be third madam Yu, instead of simply Yu-furen). While some may argue it's her way to fight patriarchy and show love for her natal clan, it's still downright insulting to the Jiang clan and her husband.

She chooses not to associate herself with them by name and behavior. She doesn't even share the same servants and lives in completely different quarters. But of course, despite all this, she still enjoys the power of being the madam of the Jiang clan. All because no one dares go against her, lest they become the next target of her hatred. That, too, is another form of her abuse. But she doesn't have the right to when she chooses to reject everything the Jiangs stand for.

So yeah, what she did to WWX was fucked up beyond imagination, because 1) he was a child, 2) it was abuse, and 3) she was using an authority and power she shouldn't have the right to after everything.

If you read this and come saying any "buts" I will block you, btw 😂 Unless you're a mutual, which we shall agree to disagree, but I won't discuss further if your opinion differs. I have no patience and no will to hear/read abuse apologism of any kind (again, for personal reasons). I just wanted to type out some thoughts. Thanks for reading I guess 😂

Jiang Yanli was so gentle most of the time, kind and friendly and easygoing, always there with a pot of soup or a friendly word, that he often forgot that she had a golden core that rivaled his own – that the only reason she wasn’t the chief disciple of Yunmeng Jiang instead of him was because female cultivators were generally excluded from such positions.

Jiang Cheng wasn’t wrong, though. Jiang Yanli might not be as prickly as Jiang Cheng was, but she was incredibly passionate in the defense of those she loved – Wei Wuxian himself had been protected by her many times before, even though he didn’t need it and told her as much.

She would, in fact, be just as reckless as Jiang Cheng might be.

“Well, shit,” Wei Wuxian said. “You’re right. Let’s find her.”

Jiang Cheng nodded. He was still in shock, still a little dull-eyed and disconnected from the world, but the notion of a purpose had put some life back into him after the massacre – he would make it, Wei Wuxian thought, and do so far better than Wei Wuxian’s original plan of lugging him along in secret as they made their way through the towns the Wen sect had now conquered.

They had a goal, now. They were going to find Jiang Yanli. (They found her in Yiling, seated right beside the Wen sect’s prized female doctor, and the expression on her face was little short of terrifying. “Don’t worry, didi,” she said to them both. “I have an idea…”)

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

oh god there are so many! right now the one that's bobbing around my head and keeping me from sleeping well at night is an au in which wwx is born a girl, but still found by jfm. yzy in this au takes a little more kindly to wwx, immediately betrothing her and jc -- both to stave off the rumors and to give her son a very powerful partner whom she can mold for the role however she sees fit.

unfortunately, when wwx grows into a teenager (or possibly even a little younger, gross), jfm sees enough of her mother in her for his old crush to flare up. rather than actually deal with that, yzy decides to send wwx and jyl off to meishan for a few years. maybe not for the full duration, but for summer or winters or something like that. either way, wwx grows much closer to jyl, and both of them learn some Things from the meishan yu.

jyl is still a poor cultivator, but she learns other ways to protect herself and probably gets a bit of an edge about her. wwx takes to all cultivation practices like she was born to them, and in an environment where she is in now way held back, she quickly becomes the most skilled cultivator of her age. she still plays pranks when she's bored, but she also helps teach all of her martial siblings and goes on nighthunts and is generally pretty happy about it.

it’s on one of these nighthunts that she finds a boy in white and blue who is in way over his head. she saves him, but they have to shelter for the night, and they maybe… bond a little bit. (lwj for sure falls in love and he’s mad about it, also there’s probably some identity porn here.) wwx, of course, is still engaged to jc, but now she’s beginning to learn the difference between love and friendship — not that she’ll actually do anything about it (at least, not yet).

and that’s about as far as i’ve gotten on that one, which is why i probably won’t ever write it. if other people have ideas or want to take it up, please do! i would love to read it!!

Just finished twelve moons and a fortnight. It took almost a week and a lot of emotions. Beware of spoilers!! This is essentially a live blogging of it

I AM BACK ! and more prepared to read this than ever. I think I went long enough that I only remember 3 or 4 major bits from this (meishan yu, the amalgamation of all the dead from lotus pier before the sunshot campaign began and wei ying seeing them as acting sect leader, lxc healing a-Qing [which still hurts my soul,,,,its taking from. His life force :((] and if im not wrong, copious letters)

The rest though may be the same as if I was to Iread it for the first time and im looking forward to it.

I have my notes app on the side while I read this bc I am a serial binge reader and need sth to hold onto my thoughts before j forget them, it has happened way too many times ans I end an incoherent mess at every fix when this happens. BUT!! I want to really show how much I love this and I like being detailed. So if this end up crossing the character limit i am not sorry.

Legitimately unforgettable

"The ghosts come to a halt, then, standing right in front of Lan Wangji’s ward with pensive looks on their faces. Some have clear death-wounds in their chests, and one of the boys wears a gown covered with dull black blood from the cruel gash in his throat—but all of them are looking straight at Li Shuai, and their lips shape her name with open wistfulness; some of the older ones call her A-Shuai, and the children call her Li-shijie, and then they nod once in Lan Wangji’s direction before stepping closer to the ward and disappearing into it. 

He feels their spiritual energy pouring into the seals before he sees it in the ward, reeling back at the sudden shock of ninety-one ghostly golden cores taking up arms beside his—ready to defend their sect in death as they could not do in life, and then he finally understands why the land-eater went unnoticed for so long. The ghosts must have been suppressing it until its power surpassed theirs, and then they sought out Wang Hai for help when they could do nothing more—but for them to have taken shape like this, in something resembling their living selves even though their bodies must long since have rotted away—it should have been beyond them to do such a thing, unless…"

I am both in awe and full of wonder and feel as though I'm there. Words do not begin to describe the intense experience it is to read this

Okay tbh you'd find me hard pressed to say a mdzs character im not fond of, and ofc the Nies are also some of my favorites. And thi makes me think so much. Because after all is said nd done, after nhs exposed jgy and his schemes and wit came to light, we do know he is clever but he is then also under constant suspicion and scrutiny. And yes he may scheme but didn't he only do tht to avenge his brother? I do believe he is done with it. And yet I also believe he is also very up to date with news and gossip and going-ons. wwx getting so excited about lwj here is so sad....interesting that since leaving CR in the first arc, he's really only had positive things to say about it. he'll say, the food was nourishing, it has a wonderful library, it's a safe place. CR may be the last place outside of his home that he has good memories, where he was (relatively) safe and innocent and free. all those rules and punishments pale in comparison to the actual war he's undergoing now

I love this scene a lot...wwx is so quiet and tentative in admitting this - he never would to anyone else. jyl is special, he trusts her and she's honestly the only person he feels comfortable being this vulnerable with. and jyl's response isn't quite as direct as 'it wasn't your fault' which...it may have helped, maybe not. idk if it would have changed his mind about the core exchange later on. but she expresses that she cares about him no matter what, and that she loves him and doesn't want to lose him, and maybe that's all you can ask from a very young woman who's just lost her entire world besides these two boys

and jc crying hearing his siblings cry....dude

this shot is so important to me. wwx crying in his sister's lap is like. very sad but he NEEDS that catharsis and that comfort and she does too! she does too

and this sequences here...wwx is so excited to find something, almost tears is open, he's smiling so big and then it slowly fades as he realizes what it will cost. this may be a quick decision for him, even an easy one, but it's not painless

this is the shot that had me tearing up over this scene. wwx looking up at the trees, the sunlight, basking in the day before turning to wq and asking her to do this for him. he knows he could die, and even if he doesn't it's a slow fadeaway. he won't be able to fly on his sword anymore, or spar with the person he was so excited to call his equal. he'll barely be able to defend himself. and he's feeling the full weight of what he's giving up, and it really hurts. he's been cavalier about his own death before, but I think this is the first time it really sinks in for him

and wq, asking him 'what about you?", I love her for that. she's one of the few who knows about this, and she wants wwx to think about himself as well

I think the way this was set up and shot made it very clear what was going to happen. I assumed that wwx gave up his core for jc and we just didn't see it, and because everything I saw seemed to support that then I was pleasantly surprised when the reveal rolled out

but you know, as much as this hurt wwx, I can see that he found an equivalency in it. it sucks that he feels like the massacre was his fault, and that he has to die for jc. but I can't see any way that could ever have been repudiated for him, and this is a very firm and final way to repay what he perceives as a debt. and of course he didn't want to leave the jiangs, but I think in the long run this decision allowed him to do a lot with a clean conscience. and that counts for something

A) It goes like this : Nie Huisang goes back in time, and he gets his brother to bring a young, severely malnourished Wei Ying and is trying to keep him from being sent to Yunmeng ( he kept intercepting his brother's letters to Yunmeng to let them know about Wei Ying). And he has this idea that if he gets Wei ying to believe he is an ugly child (malnourished ++) and that everybody will love him for him and not his skills.

I had it in my bookmarks but i think it was recently deleted? If you have any idea please lmk 🙏 i've lost too many fics this way.

B) There is another fic that's been deleted? a while ago. Wei ying had to wear a mask and was told to never reveal his face. He was married to Lan zhan in an arranged marriage but then Lan Zhan was supposedly forced to marry Wen Qing? Wei ying ended up adopting A-yuan and his twin brother.

Idk if i remember correctly (if it's the same fic) but the last chapter i read Wei Ying had to be forced through a sort of cleansing from demonic cultivation and he basically almost died bleeding ( he told lan zhan he was the one he trusted to do it). I think in the chapter count only one or two chapters were left till the end of the fic.

Wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone: its wangxian time travel fic, Madam Yu is heavily implied to have had a past romantic relationship (or unrequited crush) on CSSR and JFM is implied to have been in a past relationship with WCZ. At one point, WWX & LWJ make a trip to Meishan Yu to meet an elder that helps forge a new spiritual weapon for WWX that will listen only to WWX & LWJ (during this process I think LWJ has to give up/break part of his guqin for some reason?) Secondly, there is a fic I found on AO3 around a year ago and no matter what tags I try I just can't find it!

What I remember is that it is modern with cultivation, married WangXian, and that it's the beginning of an apocalypse where loads of people have been turned into puppets. It was supposed to be blamed on WWX but, coincidentally, he falls ill just before the start and couldn't possibly have done it.

Iirc the apocalypse lasts for about a week and turns out to have been caused by something contaminating the water supply with JGS and/or JGY behind it.

It might start with something like "On the first day of the end of the world…"

20. Hello again! I've been trying to find two fics for weeks and just can't seem to find them. A) One was an arranged marriage between lan zhan and wei ying that was set up by the jins; wei ying was never part of the jiang and he had some funky death stuff going on in the burial mounds, and took in the wens. The jin made both the wens and the Lans think the other was going to attack and that's why they did the marriage. B) The other fic has wei ying and lan zhan getting together but keeping it secret; I don't remember much, just that in trying to save the wens, jiang change tries to marry wen Qing and madam yu gets pissed off and says that since it was wei yings idea, he should marry her. Wei ying is later crying to lan zhan because both of them know it's the only option they have to save them, so he'll do it. Lan xichen comes across them and realizes they're in a relationship, and decides to marry wen qing himself to fix it - later lan zhan and wei ying reveal their relationship. ABO Jiang Fengmian x Yu Ziyuan

I can barely find this anywhere, so here, I’m going to write it.

Just ideas, sparse ones. Jiang FengMian is an omega, yet the Jiang sect leader with his wife, alpha Yu Ziyuan. MeiShan Yu and Jiang sect are co-ruled by her.

Their union was not out of love, but an arranged marriage that was beneficial to both parties. Yet, the two do respect each other, and grew to love each other after years of marriage, shared heats, and ruts, and two children FengMian bore her.

Madame Yu hated the child Wei WuXian; there were rumors of FengMian in love with his servant, beta Wei Changze, but FengMian bled on their wedding night, so Madame Yu was assured of his purity. FengMian did treat all his children with fairness, although he was noticeably softer on WWX, out of sympathy for the child’s status as an orphan.

After getting into numerous arguments with Madame Yu, FengMian finally broke down and confessed that he only ever loved her and never Changze or even Sangren that way, dammit SanNiang!

Only after seeing her usually calm, and composed omega break down, voice hoarse from screaming, tears streaming down his cheeks and mouth contorted in anguish, did she believed him. 

From that outburst, Madame Yu started treating WWX better, and her omega’s smile when she absentmindedly referred to WWX to her son as “your brother” was worth it. 

Will the slight twinge of jealousy in her heart would ever disappear? She don’t know, but seeing her children happy with their shidi and WWX looking at her as if she’s his mother makes her happy.

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

In a good way? Acquiesce. It just sounds lovely on the tongue and looks pretty when written. In a bad way? I've become wary whenever I see I've written "eyes" because I feel I'm overly repetitive with the "he saw x emotion in her eyes/ or /eyes filled with x emotion or concept" and now I'm paranoid about it lol.

8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?

I've written each, and it all depends on the tone of the piece. Dialogue-only works best with humor and fluff. The other works best with angst and drama.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

Omfg I have a fic I just finished but is on hold for which I did a fuck ton of in-my-head lore, much of which didn't make it in the story because it's a smutty fic. OK, it's a reverse Nies AU - NHS is Da-ge and became sect leader when their father died. The fic takes place a few years later, but my lore is that after taking charge of Qinghe, NHS went from sect leader to sect leader, asking for help and for someone to believe him that WRH was behind his father's death, but no sect leader supported/believed in him - but one PERSON did.

You see, because NHS was the heir, his father worried about his not being a strong warrior because strength was respected in the Nie, so daddy Nie brought in private tutors from Meishan to educate NHS in the many ways and strategies of subterfuge. So after his failures to gain support, NHS went to Madame Yu, the only person who fully believed him about the extent of the threat WRH posed. They came to an agreement to work together, and to aid in their communication and shared strategy, it was decided that NHS would marry Jinzhu and she would become Madame Nie.

To the rest of the Jianghu, NHS is the Headshaker who's been floundering after his father's death and who is being controlled by Madame Yu through his wife. Behind closed doors, he has come to care for his wife (who, yes, is quite a bit older than him) but only trusts her so far, but she's the same, and it kind of works for them, and the bunch of them have slipped spies into Qishan Wen, and sometimes Jinzhu and Yinzhu go off on missions and most of the time NHS doesn't ask for details because he knows she won't give them, he's just happy to have her home safe. NMJ also knows his Da-ge isn't the idiot he pretends to be, but trusts him fully to protect him and bring justice to their father's memory.

NHS has also gained a reputation as a terrible flirt and regularly teases the wives (and husbands) of his fellow sect leaders, inviting them to Qinghe should they ever tire of their inattentive spouses. Most of them are flattered and enjoy the attention from a younger, handsome, and charming man - particularly Madame Jin who is unused to such attention considering the asshole she married. It's part for show, to be seen as a hedonist and not to be taken seriously, but also because he really doesn't like the way JGS and others like him treat their spouses and if Jinzhu allowed him he would totally start his own harem.

*ahem* and on top of all that, when WWX was first brought to Lotus Pier, NHS was visiting there with his father, so when JFM decided to give away JC's dogs, NHS asked his father to take them. JC and NMJ have become very close friends and play with the (no longer) puppies whenever one visits the other's sect. This has made Madame Yu a LITTLE less hateful toward WWX, though not too much. But the boys' friendship is another thing uniting NHS and YZY in their efforts - making the world better for the ones they love most.

The fic this was for, BTW, was for NHS pretending Jinzhu isn't his wife and seducing her away to an empty room for a quickie during a cultivation conference.

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

If there are a lot of thoughts and pieces, I like to do a point for outline, either of events/hoe the story will go, or facts and scenes I want in there cuz if I don't write them down, I might forget the details. Though quite often I don't prepare at all and just dive in head first lol.
