Despite all your insomniac nights, taking a cat nap in the backseat of Stevie's car was surprisingly peaceful.

bump! bump!

The crevices and rocky ground of Dada's favorite road warmed you and cooed the pangs and aches in your body. The dips were like being rocked by mother nature.

'thank you mama tree'

crunch! crunch!

Ah, that's the sound of your anxieties melting away. Really it's the gravel getting all crunched up but you know... same difference.

Your Dada was in love with these backroads. Tomorrow while you down some fruity pebbles, you'll tell him again that they really should get married. They see each other all the time! It made trips take longer but that just meant more time with Stevie.

bop! bop!

The tapping of your head against the window was actually quite gentle. Sometimes it hurts and that's when you whine to Stevie that "ow it hurt dada whyyy!!?" and to get you to stop, he'd get your favorite fast food (it was the plan all along and Stevie most definitely knew-). This time, Dada was driving super, duper slow so the bumps didn't hurt. They soothed you instead and made you very, very sleepy.

Your legs were tucked close to yourself. You laid curled up like a cat in the cold winter. In better days, you'd find your position annoyingly uncomfortable but you were so eepies- I mean sleepy.

It was kind of like leaves falling from the really tall trees in the rainforest. Sleep didn't come fast but crept up on you.

You enjoyed watching the view go by the window and the mental image of a little superhero doing parkour, racing with Dada's pickup truck. The trees had all sorts of colors and some animals hop, hopped, and peeked out from the bushes.

Everything eventually becomes grey, then black. But you don't mind. It's so calming, this rest your eyelids have found.

'Oh, they closed? Ooooh that's why the superguy disappeared.'

"Welcome back, Steve-O." Bucky stood at the door frame, hands resting in his jacket pockets.

Steve placed his pointer finger on his lips and tilted his head, indicating that you were asleep.

Bucky firmly nodded and held a gentle smile. 'You're finally asleep! Aww, you deserve it, little dear.'

Your dada traded places with Bucky, leaving to go get himself ready for bed.

Daddy peeked through the windows, and then he found you, with your little head against the car door. He walked around to the door opposite of you, and moved very carefully as to not wake you.

Snores filled the air and Bucky had to hold back a giggle. He thought it was so freaking cute, don't worry!

"Come here, little one." He whispered and securely held you up against his chest. Warm and snug.

Your daddy walked into your bedroom, where Steve had been waiting and prepared your bed for you.

"Here you are, darling." Daddy laid you down.

Buck and Stevie kissed the top of your head and tucked you in.

"Goodnight, our sunflower."

A/n: It's been a couple weeks since I last wrote anything. I've been really busy and I'm burnt out :( Also this is my first proper written fic. I've mainly posted SMAU's, so if it's not good... I'm sorry. Would love to hear your critiques etc! Pairing: f1 x driver!reader Summary: The origins of our driver!reader - snippets of her growing up Warnings: butchered german??? Italics are the thoughts!

2008 - 5 years old

GROSSER PREIS SANTANDER VON DEUTSCHLAND 2008

The stands were crowded with energetic fans waiting for their favourite drivers to come out. Roars of laughter between friends and families. Piercing screams of devoted fans. In the middle of it all, a 5-year-old girl wrapped in the arms of her father with her hands over her ears trying to block out the deafening noise.

''It's too loud Papi. When's it home time?'' the girl pouted.

''Not just yet Spatzi (little sparrow). The drivers should be out any minute now.'' her father sighed. The child frowned and buried her head into his shoulder and neck.

Instantaneously, the crowd began to yell. Names were shrieked left, right, and centre. People pushing and shoving trying to get a picture or an autograph with their favourite driver. Luckily, the child and her father had managed to make it to the front without too much effort. They now had a perfect view of the track.

One by one the cars came out of the paddocks and lined up at the starting line.

''Who do you like Papi?'' the girl questioned, intrigued by the cars and their colours.

''I like Williams, do you see the navy blue and white car over there?'' her father pointed towards the middle of the grid.

''Uhhuh,'' she nodded, eyes lighting up at the car.

''That's the one that I really like. Which one do you like Schatz (treasure)?'' he questioned the child.

''Hmmm, I liikkeee... I think I like Williams too! Just like you Papi. I think I like the red car too.'' the girl's eyes shone as she spoke. Excitement now lacing her voice. There was a look of adoration on her father's face. Oh, how he loved his little bundle of joy.

''You can like whoever you want. The red car is a Ferrari.'' her father exclaimed.

''F-Fir-aa-r-ee? Ferrari! Yeah, I like that one too, but that one goes second!'' she said adamantly.

Suddenly, the cars were off, speeding down the track.

There was a glisten in the youngster's eyes. The screaming of the crowd was long forgotten. All she could hear was the vrooming of the cars. Wow, they're really fast. I want to do that.

''I want to be a race car driver when I'm older Papi! I'm gonna go really fast like vrrrrooomm." she held out her hands and acted as if she was driving a car.

2009 - 6 years old

''Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Spatzi! (Happy Birthday, little sparrow!)''

The young girl stirred in her bed.

''Wakey wakey sleepy head... you don't want to miss out on opening presents do you.''

At that comment, the girl shot up in bed. Her wide eyes glanced up at her father, excitement running through her body.

''Please can I have waffles for breakfast? Can we go see Oma? Can we see Mami? Oooh can we make those doughnuts with the sugar on top for dessert? Plleeaassee?'' she gave her father her best puppy dog eyes.

''Okay, okay. How about we open your presents first and then see where the day takes us? How does that sound?'' her father queried.

A swift nod of the head gave her father all the conformation he needed and with that, he scooped her up into his arms and carried her down into the living room. The room was decorated with brightly coloured banners, balloons stuck to the wall via sellotape and streamers hung from the ceiling. On the living room table, 6 presents stood tall and were screaming to be opened by a certain birthday girl.

Once set down on the ground, the birthday girl ran over to the presents. She picked the first one up, inspecting its size before placing it down and ripping open the wrapping paper. Inside a box of Lego with an image of a Ferrari. The girl giggled with excitement moving on to her next present.

The small child was down to her last two presents. Both were small and sat on the corner of the table. Small hands picked up the thin present that sat on top, tearing open the wrapping paper. A signed driver's card sat inside. Shock spread across the young girl's face. A signed piece by Kimi Raikkonen. This just might be the best present ever!

''Oh wooooow! Danke Papi! This is the best present ever.'' She ran over wrapping her small arms around the man's neck.

''You're very welcome. But how about opening up your last one.'' he smiled at her.

She curiously looked back and took the present into her arms. The present was squishy under her touch. Possibly clothes? Carefully, the wrappers ripped open. A blue and white race suit sat inside.

''Do you like it, Schatz?''

''I love it! I love it! I love it!'' the girl twirled around with the race suit in hand.

2015 - 11 years old

''Hallo Logan!'' The girl ran up to the young lad. ''Do you want to get ice cream after the race? I'll ask Oscar if he wants to come too."

The blonde boy nodded his head and smiled. ''Yeah, I'd like that.''

''Okay, bye Logan.'' The girl waved before heading in the direction of her Aussie friend.

''Hallo Oscar! Do you want to come and get ice cream after the race with me and Logan?''

''Sure. Let me ask my parents.'' He ran off towards his parents.

Alone she stood listening to her surroundings. Loud chatter coming from children and parents. Birds chirping in the trees.

Hearing the latter she skipped towards the trees before noticing a small bird hopping around. Approaching the bird slowly, she scooped the animal into her hands and held it against her chest.

''I will help you little birdie! Papi, Papi look what I found. Can we help it get better?''

''Sure, we'll take it home with us.'' he smiled.

Strolling over were Oscar and Logan.

''What'cha got there N/n?'' Logan asked curiously.

''It's a bird... We're gonna take it home and look after it.'' She exclaimed.

''We are still up for ice cream though aren't we Birdie?'' Oscar peered a the girl.

''Of course we are Osc... birdie?? Why that??''

''Oh y'know... you've got a bird in your hand, so your new nickname is birdie,'' he uttered as if it was obvious.

''Ahh okie.'' A blush spread across her cheeks in embarrassment.

A whilst blew signalling that the race was about to begin.

''Papi, will you take care of it whilst I race?'' She turned back.

''Of course I will Spatzi. Now run along. The quicker you go the quicker you can get ice cream.''

Baku, Azerbaijan, April 29th.

HERE, here is where you end up when you let your agent say yes to every commercial offer you get no matter how random it is. And one day late, to top things off. Many people are angry at you, and you’re getting an earful as soon as the cameras shut down, but for now all you can do is laugh at terrible jokes, like the lady that you are, pretend to sip the frankly horrendous energy drink your manager keeps handing you, and appear very sorry about your previous absence.

You’re not even supposed to be here, you had no idea signing the stupid contract with Red Elix forced you to come to every sponsor event that they had. Having become the most recent sponsor for Ferrari’s F1 team, the men in charge couldn’t wait to show you off, their most important ambassador. Or their shiniest toy, it's all semantics.

"Come on, the shootout is about to start!" the old man whose name you have already forgotten holds your hand, leading you away from the refreshments table where you're looking something drinkable, preferably with alcohol, although it wouldn't help your jetlag.

You spent the eighteen hours of your flight on a F1 binge, because you weren't about to make a fool of yourself by showing up to a Grand Prix having zero idea of whatever was going on other than the cars going really, really fast. Some things are still mildly confusing, like the point distribution and why on Earth there is a sprint race and then a 'real' race the next day. But you're proud of your ability to retain information, you're an actress after all, there are a hundred scripts loaded into your brain.

"We root for the red cars, sweetheart," the man is still holding your hand and it's starting to feel gross, it's papery and sweaty at the same time. It's like he's talking to a child, ennunciating slowly and clearly, and then pointing at the screen where they take turns to focus on drivers sixteen and fifty-five.

Unsurprisingly, you'd figured as much, you're in the Ferrari Suite, everything is fucking red. A wave of annoyance runs through you, but you're used to men being patronizing, so you just smile and take the chance to slip your hand out of his grip, covering your face coyly. "I'll keep an eye on them!"

He turns around after laughing at your 'cuteness' or stupidity, really. Men love laughing at women, especially those whom they deem to be dumb.

"Could you please, please, get me some water? Not Elix, not anything else, water." you whisper to your manager just as he's made himself comfortable to watch the Sprint Shootout. He sends a resented look your way but still gets up from his chair to get you a closed bottle of water. Walter is being forced to be here as much as you are, at least he doesn’t have a contract that keeps him tied to Elix for every race.

The man from before is talking to you again and you try your best not to shut down and tune him out. He's explaining the rules of the Shootout but you couldn't care less about anything that leaves his mouth, also the cars are already coming out of their respective garage and there's so much noise it doesn't even matter how much he adjusts the volume of his voice.

Charles and Carlos, you have learned their names after an hour of having their enlarged picture stare at you from the main wall of the Suite. Charles ended up in first place and he's starting P1 later and tomorrow. Nice. Carlos is struggling a little, apparently, but seeing how fast these silly cars go and how tight the curves are, you can't blame him.

As soon as the Shootout is over, there is chaos again. You are dragged here, there and back, forced to smile for pictures with strangers who have the audacity to squeeze your waist and whisper in your ear, well, that's definitely worse than having to drink the Red Elix.

There is another rush as both drivers come back for a debrief and to get some rest before the Sprint, they're a blur surrounded by people in red uniforms blabbering instructions, and the shouts of 'good job!' and 'i love you!' that have followed them from the paddock.

"Mr. Schafer…” a boney boy with glasses leans down to talk to the guy that has branded you as his for the evening.

Schafer gives him a dirty look, annoyed by the interruption of his incredibly boring story about how he is a self-made multimillionaire. "What?" he barks.

"They- they said not now," the boy whispers shyly, no, not shyly, scared. "They said the drivers need to focus, but maybe later after the Sprint..."

A can of Elix flies in the air and you look in poorly disguised repugnance at the way it puddles close to your Air Force sneakers. The boy has taken a step back, now visibly shaking and your disgust is redirected to the man that just yelled at him and is throwing a temper tantrum.

"Not right now?!" he continues, face turning purple. "What if I had said 'not right now' when they asked me to give them MY money, huh?!"

"T-they said—"

"I don't care what they said! It's your job to get the pictures of them with the Elix! You're useless!"

Other people are staring at you, including most of the Ferrari Hospitality Team, and it makes you feel embarassed that they have most likely pegged you as similar to Schafer from how inseparable you are.

"Why don't we calm down a bit?" you soothe, forcing yourself to run your hand down his arm and back up. "You know how these pilots are, divas at best."

You don't know either of the guys who have disappeared inside the Suite, and by the looks the Hospitality Team gives you once again, you're certain you are completely mistaken. But you don't care, because the media boy is giving you a grateful look, and although he's still visibly fuming, the money guy has stopped yelling.

"You're right sweetheart," Schafer says patting your hand and taking it back to his arm. "Later, then." he warns the media boy, who takes that as his sign to run away.

Ferrari is full of hope and celebrations when the Sprint ends, you're once again paraded around but at least it's way more fun this time. You get to be near the podium and witness first-hand whatever rituals they play out. The fun is short-lived though, when you are warned by your manager that Mr. Schafer wants to take you out to dinner tonight, you don't have or want to know more, you know what he wants to achieve.

You walk back to the Suite with your manager, trying your best to avoid Mr. Schafer, who is frantically looking for you. He's missing his arm-candy badly.

Your jetlag has worsened, and you have a terrible headache, plus however much Elix you've drank despite taking the smallest sips possible, is making you nauseous.

You need five minutes to yourself. It's all you ask for. You haven't even been able to get a break in the fucking bathroom. Your manager is constantly yelling, already getting his own frustration out on you for whatever shit the Elix team gave him after you missed the first day of the Grand Prix.

In the midst of the chaos, you slip away. Eager to find a place to breathe and enjoy your own company. Or dissociate, again, semantics.

You find yourself in front of two doors with the numbers sixteen and fifty-five identifying whom they each belong to. They are empty, and you know it because both drivers are still in their debriefing/celebration/whatever else they could be doing that once again, won't allow them to pose for the Elix post-race photos.

You are at a crossroads, you are well aware this are private rooms for a reason, but you also know there isn't anywhere more deserted than these rooms.

Sixteen or fifty-five? Who is least likely to freak out if by any miscalculation on your part they found you here? Well, one of them ended the day on a happier note than the other, so...

You open the door marked with the number sixteen and sigh in relief. Five minutes and that's it. Then you can go back and play dumb to Schafer and beg for you manager to finally take you to the hotel.

There is a miscalculation on your part, and five minutes later, just as you're about to get up and leave (after stealing one bottle of water and a granola bar from Charles' stash) the door opens again, revealing the disheveled driver, holding a small plaque with a number two in one hand and a Pirelli cap in the other. He is far more handsome up close, there isn't a screen or photograph that does him justice, and you've seen plenty of both during the day.

"You are not supposed to be here," is the first thing he says, frowning.

"I know," you feign nonchalance as best you can, although you are embarrassed. "I was leaving."

Charles still wears that confused expression on his face, and it makes you glad it hasn't changed to anger. "What were you doing here?"

"Stealing your refreshments," which is not a lie, as you're still holding both things in one hand, not without struggle.

He's not freaking out, which comes across as strange. How many times has he come to his private room to find a random girl waiting for him?

"Should have taken the Elix," he mutters, throwing the Pirelli cap in the empty part of the couch you had been occupying minutes before. "That thing is disgusting."

You can't help but chortle a laugh. "Glad you think so,"

Awkward silence finally falls in the room, and you know that's the signal for you to exit. You're still invading his privacy and while you're glad he really didn't seem to mind, you don't know how much longer he will be so patient.

"Don't tell anyone you were here, okay?" he calls after you, "Someone might get fired."

You nod but he doesn't see you, already minding his own business in his little private bubble. You're jealous to leave him in a space all to himself.

It takes an hour to get both drivers and you in the same room for the pictures Elix is dying to get. This is far from ridiculous, but you have a contract and so does Ferrari, so you don't have much of a choice.

"Are you feeling better?" Charles asks, and you think he's talking to his team mate until he clears his throat right in front of you. He's holding the Red Elix, just like the one in his private room.

"Who? Me?" you ask stupidly, and then you take a sip of the Gold Elix in your hand, it's so much worse than the Red.

"Yes, you."

"I'm okay, why?" you're suddenly defensive, this is the second time this guy sees you and he's acting all weird.

"Good," he says and also drinks from his Elix, failing to hide his distaste with a purse from his lips. "This thing is really gross," he whispers, and this time his teammate does join the conversation only by laughing.

Both must be exhausted and yet they're trying to put on a good show for the sponsors.

"I'm sorry about intruding in your room," you lower your voice, squeezing your drink.

Charles shrugs lightly, and drinks again, this time without grimacing. "Sometimes I need five minutes too."

You smile, and it's the first sincere smile you've shown all day.

"My mum likes your movies," he says casually, as someone yells that you need 'just one more picture, please!'

You dread the part where he says something along the lines of "Supercut is the best!" but instead, after he stops the automatic motion of taking the red can to his lips, he adds: "I like Loneliness, it's so depressing."

And you throw your head back to laugh.

i get angry so fast, it’s actually concerning

i would scrap everyone that says anything bad about me

if a haas, alpha tauri, afla romeo overtook me, i would actually park the car on the side and go home

i would wear the most cuntiest clothing walking into the paddock, it would be sickening

i would not be able to answer ANYONE after a race like singapore or qatar like i don’t have time for long ass questions pls 🖐🏽

i would NOT keep up with my diet. if i feel like eating ice cream before a race, I WILL

"my team confirmed that everything is safe and ready for this weekend, so i have nothing much to worry about, right now at least." she nodded and smiled after speaking into the microphone in her hand. every interviewer has asked about her car, the mechanic, the legal side of things. which she understands, but media in general just stresses her out and exhausts her more than they should. it feels like every week there's a new scandal, a new headline, new lies. this is just a waste of time.

"what is your legal team doing about this?" the interviewer questioned with a slight head tilt.

"my personal legal team is working with red bull's, we're trying to figure out every detail. but uhm, for now there's not much i can say about the legal side of things." that's code for the pr manager and and attorney's told her not to speak a word about the legalities. there's not enough proof and information for the public to get ahold of it.

"thank you addi, good luck this weekend."

"thank you." addi and her manager, lacy, walk off, the young manager hand her the red bull water bottle. the driver lets out a sigh as they walk back to the team hospitality. "i'm so tired."

"i know, adds."

lando caught up with addi and her manager, talking about the track and other random things, "where's luisa?" she questioned, she assumed the new wag would be in the paddock now that the grid has been introduced to her.

"oh, we aren't public yet."

she was slightly shocked by this, she hadn't been caught up much with the public lives of the drivers. however, she assumed with the proof of the fans that lando would reveal the 'mystery girl'. she let out a chuckle, "you might as well be, they have pictures of you guys all over twitter and tiktok."

the brit laughed back, "we just aren't ready for that yet, being in a public relationship i mean."

the two continued on convercing when they saw max and a little girl dressed in a red bull team shirt and a mclaren hat taking a picture together. after a couple pictures were taken, max pointed out his teammate and friend, speaking to the girl in his native language. he introduced them all to each other, addi was quick to giving the young fan and hug and smiley greeting.

they take pictures and sign her shirt and hat. "you just made that girls day!" max chuckled as they all walk off.

that's something addi really loves about this career. the fans, the traveling, the fast paced lifestyle. it was exhilarating and never got boring. she loves this life.

"so, what's going on with you and lando?" max finally asked when they made it back to energy station. they were walking to their drivers room to relax a little. "what?" she chuckled and looked up at her teammate.

"you two like each other, so why does he have a girlfriend that isn't you?"

“come on, angel, daddies gotta go race!” you cooed, trying to lure your daughter away from her father so that he could get in the car.

as sylvie had gotten older, she travelled with you and george to most races. it was a joy and a great luxury to be able to bring your baby girl with you on your work trips, but her attachment to george was becoming harder and harder to manage.

george would bring her onto the grid while you did your interviews, passing her back to you just before he needed to get into the car. it was a solid routine, soothing both him and her before the race started, but sylvie found it harder and harder to let her daddy go before the lights went out.

“look, baby, you need to go to your mummy, and i’ll come and see you as soon as i finish the vroom vroom.” george spoke animatedly, bouncing the toddler on his hip.

‘vroom vroom’ was their thing, their special little code that made sure that the sweet girl knew how much george loved her, kept between them like an oath. it was one of the first things that george had taught her when she started to speak, her delicate little voice sounding out the words.

sylvie tugged on george’s golden strands, just as stubborn as you were, a silent protest. george smiled, proud of her self-assuredness.

“my darling, you’re gonna go to mummy and watch me drive fast! and then i’m gonna come and see you while mummy works and take you to see all of your uncles. uncle lando and uncle lewis want to say hello to their favourite girl.” george reasoned, knowing she wouldn’t be able to turn down playing with uncle lando and cuddles from her favourite uncle lewis.

“vroom vroom, daddy.” she giggled, her little hands releasing their grasp on george’s soft waves and she turned towards you, reaching for you, finally. you took her, melting at her soft coos, squeezing her gently in your arms.

“wave bye bye to daddy, give him good luck kisses.” you whispered, watching in awe as your little girl planted a soft kiss on her fathers cheek.

george leant towards you next, planting a soft kiss on your lips. you smiled into the kiss, brushing his cheek with your spare hand as he pulled away.

“be safe, good luck out there.” you winked, repeating the same mantra that you told him before every single session.

“think you’re the one that needs the luck.” he teased, gesturing to the ball on energy in your arms. you stuck your tongue out, retreating to the safety of his garage to watch george go ‘vroom vroom’.

Can I ask for a recommendation for a character I'm writing? I'm looking for Rich People Sports Cars but I'm out of my depth outside of like Toyota and Chevy lol… She values function over form, but her budget is essentially unlimited and wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of that. She is also a skilled mechanic so she would choose cars that could be easily tinkered with/customized (and wouldn't really be bothered about repair concerns due to this + the aforementioned budget). She has a soft spot for older models that are quirky or overlooked, but definitely also likes modern cars that Go Vroom Very Fast. If you could give me any recs I would appreciate it!! Cruel Summer Masterlist

Charles teaches Lyanna how to drive

Remember when you hit the brakes too soon?

“I’m really not sure about this Charles. Like, not at all.”

“Hey you passed the theory easily, love. First try may I add, and we worked together on the sim for so many hours, you’ll be fine. I promise. And you have me as your teacher, nothing can go wrong.” Charles tried to reassure her.

“So many things can go wrong. I can crash us both and then Julia will be an orphan. And Pierre will be in charge of taking care of her. Pierre, Charles! Pierre! What went wrong in our heads to decide that he would be a great godfather?”

“He is a great godfather! He is spoiling her. But really, breathe, love. It will be fine, you got this.”

“I’m scared, Charles.”

“I’m right here Lya and if something goes wrong, I’ll take the wheel. But I trust you.”

“Why didn’t we try an empty parking lot for my first time? Why did it have to be the track of the Monaco GP?”

“Because if you can manage it, love, you’ll manage anything.”

“Easy for you to say.”

When Lyanna told Charles a few months ago that she wanted to get her driver’s licence so it would be easier to drive Julia to school as they were living on the side of Monaco, Charles had not given her any other choice but to be her instructor. Whenever he got a little time between two races he had taken his role very seriously making Lyanna train on his simulator for two hours per day until he deemed her ready to hit the road. And the day had finally come.

Charles tried his best to reassure her, telling her that they would go easy for the first time. But to Lyanna, easy definitely didn’t mean the track of the Monaco GP. She knew it pretty well because of Charles and the amount of time they had spent driving along, both together and then with Julia. She didn’t know it by heart, of course, but she roughly knows the turns and where they were.

“How can you trust me with your Pista?” she asked with a shaky voice.

“I trust you with my life, love.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t.”

“Come on drama queen, start the engine and let’s go.”

And she did as told. And off they were. the first few kilometers went well, at least, in her opinion. They managed to get inside the Monegasque traffic without too much inconveniences and there were no crashes in sight. Little by little, Lyanna was starting to relax. Charles, to her surprise, was not saying much, just giving her a few instruction here and there.

“Lya?” he ended up saying as they were near Sainte-Devote.

“Yes?”

“You know you drive at 30 kmph? You can go up to 50.”

“Isn’t it a bit too fast though?”

“it’s really not, love.”

She sighed and sped up as Charles told her. Two hours later and after multiple laps around Monaco, they came back home. Lyanna could already see the improvements and she was actually proud of herself for overcoming her fears. And Charles was not that bad. As they both were getting out of the car and Lyanna gave back his car’s key to her husband, a mini brunette tornado came crashing in her dad’s arms full force.

“Daddy! Mommy! You went vroom vroom without me!”

“Daddy is teaching mommy how to be an as good driver as him.” explained Lyanna as Pascale was coming through the door to greet them.

“Does it mean that you are going to leave me to go with daddy?”

“No my princess, mommy is learning how to drive so she can take you out for ice cream when daddy is away.”

“So cool!”

“What were you doing? And how was school?” asked Charles.

“She was watching Pierre’s win in Monza.” told Pascale making the little girl blush.

“Why are you watching uncle Pierre and not daddy?” Charles was faking to be offended.

“She loves the broadcast. It’s making her laugh. And she needed that after her school day.”

“What do you mean? What happened?” Worried Lyanna as she was bending down to look at her daughter, afraid she had been hurt.

“I wanted to play tag with other girls. And they told me no.”

“Why?” asked Charles.

“They said I’m weird because I don’t play with dolls with them. And I prefer cars. But then boys don’t want to play with me because I’m a girl.”

Lyanna could see Charles’ jaw harden, after hearing that. But it didn’t seem to bother Julia that much. As she was explaining further how she was cast aside by her classmates, she simply shrugged and said that it didn’t matter, she knew how to have fun by herself. Still, Charles and Lyanna’s hearts broke a little.

The next day, the parents dropped her at school, not without crossing paths with Max who was dropping Ethan. The Dutchman shot a death glare to Charles on the way that Charles reciprocated. Both of them didn’t forget the biting incident that happened a few months ago. It was well known in the paddock, ever since, that putting them both in the same room was only resulting in petty comments towards one another. Thankfully, they didn’t try to kill each other on track. At least, not yet.

When they finally left Julia at school, Lyanna took her place behind the steering wheel and drove off to an empty parking lot.

“I’m going to teach you how to park today.” said Charles very seriously.

“You what?”

“Teach you how to park?”

“Sorry I thought you were serious being for a moment.” she laughed as he gave her a puzzled look. “You can’t park to save your life Charles.”

“Hey! I got better with time!” he defended himself.

They spent an hour trying to park the car in different conditions and positions and to Charles surprise, she was good. Really good. Better than him that’s for sure. Not that it was hard.

Days passed and training sessions with Charles resumed. When Lyanna finally felt ready she passed her test and got her result a few weeks later. Charles was not there but she decided to sent him as screenshot telling him that she finally had her driver’s license. Charles was so proud of his wife that he didn’t hesitate much before adding her as a driver on his car assurance contract.

If at first Lyanna was scared to use the Pista, even more with Julia, she quickly got back her confidence. Driving around Monaco was not the hardest thing to do when you knew when the traffic was hectic and when you were used to the city. And Lyanna never really needed to use the car that much, only to bring Julia to school and to pick her up. As for the groceries, she avoided going and would rather use the delivery option. It was easier and it prevented people from stopping her in the alleys to ask for a picture. But today, she had promised to Julia they would bake a cake together and she needed ingredients.

The supermarket parking lot was more crowded than usual and Lyanna had to spent at least 15 minutes turning and turning in the hopes of finding space. She finally found one away from the entry of the shop and tried to park the Pista. It was not easy, the space was not very big and the car next to her was not very well parked. But after a small amount of tries, which she was very proud of, she finally managed to park the car.

She tried to be quick, not wanting to spend more time than necessary in the supermarket. She bought what she needed and even added to her cart sweets for Julia and make her way to pay. Once done, she got back to the car and almost had heart attack when she saw a scratch on the driver side door. Panic started to take over her body when she will have to explain to Charles how she managed to scratch his beloved car. But she knew the sooner she let the cat out the bag, the better she would feel.She checked her phone and texted him to know if she could call him before putting down her phone on the passenger seat and making her way back home.

When she pulled up in the driveway, she saw a notification from her husband popping up. She sighed, get out of the car, took out the groceries from the trunk and went back home. After putting everything in the cupboards and cleaning the kitchen area, she sat on the couch and called Charles.

“Hey, love. Everything’s alright?”

“Hey… no, not really. I have something to tell you.”

“Lya, you are scaring me. Are you okay? Is Julia okay? Did something happened?”

“Yeah, yeah we are okay. Don’t worry. I can’t say the same about your Pista though.”

The was a long silence at the other end of the line and Lyanna was bracing herself for the scolding.

“What happened?” he slowly said.

“I went grocery shopping. I parked the Pista, everything went well but when I came back there was a scratch. I’m sorry, I should have been more careful, the two cars were not parked well and I should have known that it could happen and…”

“Lyanna! For fuck’s sake!” he cut her.

“I’m sorry!” she was on the verge of crying.

“I thought it was worse than that! Don’t scare me like that. I thought something happened to you for a minute.”

“So you’re not angry?”

“If you’d know how many times something like that happened to me, love… Don’t worry about the Pista okay. How is Julia by the way, where is she? I want to see my princess.”

“Julia?” repeated Lyanna.

She suddenly looked up at the hour and gasped.

“Oh fuck! With everything that happened, I forgot her at school!”

“Lyanna!”

I'mma go on a mini rant here about nothing that anyone here cares about but it also does sort of relate to every fandom ever in a way.

The formula 1 crowds are, as a whole and not as individuals, massive dicks. The amount of gatekeeping is insane. Like, you are gatekeeping CARS GOING VROOM ON A TRACK. You are??? So cool??? Lmao, I dunno, it just drives me insane. It's like people aren't allowed to be "new" fans of things, ever. Someone has an opinion someone else doesn't agree with and they're like "lol, new to F1?" and it's like, nah mate the person you're accusing of being new has been watching for decades, you just don't know how to handle someone not agreeing with you. And even if they were new, SO WHAT??? Like lord is it harder to be a dick than it is to just maybe explain something to them they might not fully understand as of yet? You were there too once, Oh Ruler Of The Universe and F1 Knowledge.

Not only that, but the amount of animosity towards drivers and the lack of caring about their well-being in crashes -- or what I call "couch driving" like making fun of George Russell's crash and the way he was screaming for a red flag because, I dunno, he was scared to death of being hit and getting killed (or someone else getting killed) because he crashed and his car was sideways in the middle of the damned track?

Like, are you assing me out? Are you saying you would be stone faced and not at all concerned in the same position? You sure do say a whole lot of words for someone sitting on the couch with a bag of potato chips watching fast cars go nyoom for your entertainment.

Drives me bonkers, it really does. I know gatekeeping is a thing in every fandom so ya'll will probably at least be able to generally relate lmao.

Which are the preferred personal vehicles of 47, Diana, Lucas and Olivia?

I know that 47 has access to the hearse in Freelancer and while that is his brand of humor, I don't see him using it much.

I bet Lucas had a bike he drove recklessly after he escaped from the institute (misquoting B99's Hitchcock, he has nothing left to live for and drives like it). But after he got Olivia, he upgraded to a car. But I can't decide if it's funnier if he goes directly to a football mom suv or if he drives something like a muscle car and only when someone makes an offhand comment on its safety, he switches to the suv. (Hi Mr Grey. Olivia is settling in nicely. Is it true you drove her in an Impala? My husband has one as his project car and those safety ratings are terrible, I would never pick up my kids in one. .......Haha, of coirse I wouldn't either, my car's at the garage nd this is just a rental........fuck).

Diana probably has a landrover, reinforced like a small tank.

I bet Olivia drives a cute hybrid or electrical car.

47.....sleek Italian sports car? In black, of course.

And I like your headcanon, which I absolutely agree with! They probably all have several cars, they are rich, they can drive whatever they want. But there are one or two cars that I associate with them…

I think 47 loves cars, especially old cars. He certainly has a penchant for spending his money on classics. But an everyday car? Next to his many sports cars (e.g. Lamborghini Aventador)? Probably a rich (old) person one like a Porsche Panamera (in red because it's probably his favourite colour, I mean his tie is always red):

But I think he prefers to drive his classics. Unfortunately I don't know much about them, but he seems to love this black one in Freelancer a lot!

I can well imagine Diana in a sleek little sports car. She certainly has to get around a lot and quickly. Power woman style (but still reinforced like a small tank, as you say. She knows her enemies and how to protect herself from them). I think Diana has a lead foot on the highway (that's what we say in Germany when you drive way too fast) So why not an Audi R8 in blue? Her little show-off car

47 loves driving in it. But not so much when Diana is at the wheel (vroom vroom)

Ohhh Olivia, our cute little mouse, must have been driving around in a junk car for many years. But she values environmental protection, so she got herself a small, affordable electric car recently (after the old car died). Everyone thinks the car is ugly, but she loves her green box a lot, her Honda e:

And Lucas. Oh, he probably sees cars purely as a commodity. And yes, he certainly made sure to drive a decent car in Olivia's school days so that no one would be suspicious, but I think he has several cars (despite being against capitalism). One for missions, where you get a lot in, get through every terrain, etc., probably a Dodge Ram 1500:

(I don't know much about American cars, but here in Europe these things are way too big for our streets and are more used by hunters or forestry workers because you can pack a lot onto the loading area)

He probably has a small SUV for everyday use (in the city), because the weapons have to go somewhere, right? A Dacia Duster is probably something for him - relatively cheap, yet robust, not a posh car, just an SUV:

BUT in the depths of his garage in Berlin he has his greatest treasure, his old Opel Corsa B in mint green:

This thing has seen a lot and is 30 years old. All doors except the driver's door can only be opened from the inside, the boot can no longer be locked properly and when you hit the gas pedal, the car only gets louder and not faster. Air conditioning: Roll down the windows manually. But he loves it with all his heart and enjoys driving around Berlin at weekends to get a Döner at his favourite Döner stand 💘

(47 only drives with Lucas in absolute emergencies in this car, which sometimes makes strange noises and the lack of insulation makes it feel like your arse is about to hit the road. 140 km/h (around 85 mph) with this car is like a death sentence, but Lucas has fun)

Who knows #my friend drives 140 on the autobahn regardless of the sounds it makes #and i love it
