AIKU OLIVER seems quite intimidating at first, maybe because of his famousness or because of his height, but meeting him the first time made you nervous. He’s super outgoing, and straightforward (it’s a bit scary-). But when you get to know him better, he’s going to be the sweetest of these four boys ! Aiku puts his whole heart into everything if it’s for you. You want a new plushie ? He’s going to search for the perfect plushie for you, with the cutest design, your favorite color : prepare yourself, he’s gonna take some classes to learn how to make one. Alright, it won’t be the most beautiful plushie you’re gonna see but hey !! He did it with his hands ?? And it took a while to do so !! He prefers to do something more significant for you than to simply buy something (but he will buy you a lot of things, jewelry, books he thinks you’d like, ect.). He’s a flirt, ngl, he likes to embarrass you, but he always makes-up for it, by pressing a soft kiss on your forehead. I definitely think he would call you honey, sweetheart or my girl.

"- Sweetheart, I’m 200% sure eating two chocolate bars are not very good for your stomach…"

"Nah, don’t worry about me- AIKU !"

He grabbed the chocolate from your hands and put his over his head.

"Then make me, honey", he winked at you and you rolled your eyes. You approached him, hugging him, and putting your hand on his torso, in a seductive way. He felt his heart beating faster, harder in his chest, and the kiss you gave him on his neck made him feel kinda hot, his cheeks becoming red.

You snatched the chocolates bars from his hands and ran away, leaving the poor man alone, flustered. Yeah, he’s whipped for you. A big simp with absolutely no shame.

ITOSHI SAE is extremely different from Aiku. His demeanor is cold, and he was extremely distant and dry in the beginning of your friendship. Then, as the time past, he was more and more attached to you, and started catching feelings. He was so mad at himself : you probably saw him as a friend, and nothing more. Plus, he was kinda mean towards you, he thought you would like a nicer man.. but when you confessed to him, he (almost) had a smile on his face. This man’s gonna pamper you the best he can, buying you the most expansive jewelry ever, the prettiest clothing, taking you to dates often, even if he’s extremely busy. His love language is surely gift giving and quality time !! I feel like he’s very protective too, especially to soccer players; and kinda his brother, who’s one of your friends. He’s a bit insecure and he’s definitely touch starved, so you need to boost his confidence and assure him you won’t leave him anytime soon (never). He would definitely call you dear or babe.

" Sae, what are you look for ? ",you asked, seeing your boyfriend searching something in the closet of your shared home.

"My white shirt, I have an appointment with some journalist today, but I don’t find- oh."

He saw you holding out his shirt, a proud smile on your face.

"I put your shirt away this morning, I was sure you were going to be late"

"Thanks, babe", he said, a small smile creeping on his face, taking his shirt and your hand in his, kissing your knuckles gently. He put his shirt and then headed to the door of the house. You followed him.

"Don’t forget the restaurant this evening dear", he said, taking his coat.

SHIDOU RYUSEI is… a special lover, to say the least. Prepare yourself for tons of adventures and tons of weird stares. He has literally no shame, he’s extremely bold, even in public (this dude doesn’t understand PDA ig) and he doesn’t give a shit about people around him, not what they think of him. But when it comes to you ? Ohh man. He’s extremely proud of you, he’s gonna show you off to everyone 24/7, and if somebody says something about you that he doesn’t like, you would need to calm him fast because he’s ready to throw hands. He wants to hang-out with you all the time, he’s capable of everything for you. Definitely a simp and a hype-man !! He wants to be in your arms 24/7 and absolutely love when you praise him about his skills in soccer or in anything else. This man has a lot of respect for you, your family and friends, but he’s sometimes a bit harsh towards your friends, especially if some of them disrespect you because « it’s fun » or because they’re the « pickme » type.

"Oh hi, Y/N !", you turned your head towards the noise to see two friends you haven’t seen in a while.

"Oh, hi, long time no see ! How are you ?"

"I’m fine ! How are-" answered your first friend, before being interrupted by the second one, that was looking down at you.

LEONARDO LUNA is a sarcastic yet, loving man. He absolutely loves to tease you and to fluster you, it’s his hobby. Making you blush ? He’s smiling. Making you laugh ? He’s crying from your cuteness. His humor is so good, you’ve never seen a funnier man in your life, istg. He’s even more funny when you two go on a date and when he decides to judge every. single. person. that walked past both of you. i've found your account only a few days ago but ever since then I've been STUCK here rereading your fanfics, especially ones with damian. i wasn't even a dc fan (heard about some stuf, watched some films and cartoons, but that's it) but now im reading comics since im Obsessed and need more batboys in my life (rip my productivity😔)

Anyway, after Sleepover i'm curious what will Bruce (and maybe even Thalia) think of batboys strange behaviour towards reader. He's smart, so he definitely notices it early on, but how he'll react....

I can see him being weirded out (like he was by Jason's anger issues, before his death), but he also can be an enabler, since Robin (literaly any of them) had a hard life, so if those relationships can help him why not pretend that everything is normal? you'll be safer in a Wayne's Manor anyway

still wondering what i like more. a yan!bruce who's self aware what he's doing is wrong but he just refuses to think about it. or a yan!bruce that justifies it all because of his paranoia, Tower of Babel style (if you don't know, that's when it's revealed batman has plans to subdue/kill the justice league just in case they go rogue.)

Why I think Nocturne is way better than the OG Castlevania series

Sorry, when I try to shut up about this show I be like

so here’s my unsolicited, highly biased word vomit that will contain spoilers at the end (but those will be under a cut) so read at your own risk! Okay, leggo

It’s actually diverse.

One thing about high fantasy is that it’s almost always Eurocentric. Even if it’s not set in Europe, the characters are gonna inexplicably have British accents because we associate that with high fantasy. We’re gonna have European style “old” clothing choices. And if everyone isn’t white, they might as well be because they’ll only throw in a couple ambiguously brown side characters and call it a day. Or if they make a main character a POC then best believe everyone around them will be white.

Nocturne, tho? Oh, you can tell it’s made with more than just a sprinkle of representation. They didn’t just make Olrox indigenous, they tied his Aztec lineage in beautifully. Annette was a slave but it’s not flattening her character because of it. Drolta came to slay but even she has her authentic background. Which leads me to my next point!

The Black characters especially are done tastefully.

Like… don’t get me wrong. I love Isaac. He was the only reason I stayed tuned into Castlevania past season 1, LMAO! But his backstory felt like straight trauma porn cooked up by a non-Black person who wanted an excuse to see a Black man whipped for character development.

Zodwa Nyoni wrote some episodes for Nocturne and she put her FOOT in it. When it came to addressing Annette’s time as a slave, her connection to the Orisha through her bloodline… I was gobsmacked at how accurate everything was and now I know why LOL! Like, for me, it’s always gonna be hard to see slavery in fiction but I can’t say shit bad about how it was tied into everything in this show. Annette’s ancestors play such a huge part in her growth and it just warmed my heart to see a Black girl whoop some colonizer ass without it feeling hamfisted. 🥹

The token relationship is the cishet one, everyone else is gay asf

I love that trope flipped on it’s head, ngl LMAO! I, by default, HC everyone as bi anyway but MAN was it nice to see Olrox and Mizrak speedrun enemies to lovers and a hint of Drolta’s devotion/gayness to Erzsebet.

I know the majority of my fictional character thirsting leans male but don’t get it twisted; I jump for JOY for gay shit in media 😂 The only reason I don’t thirst as hard for female characters is because I prefer my men fictional but my women real.

That being said, this series sent me into bi panic and I’d like to be manhandled in a room by Drolta and Olrox.

Nocturne’s first season plays out neater than the OG’s first season.

Like… okay. My main beef with the OG series was that after they defeated Dracula, the rest of the show felt like a meandering fanfic. Sure, there were a few badass moments, but the energy kinda faltered for me and I was bored with a lot of it. I hope they don’t do the same with Nocturne; they left off at a nice cliffhanger which builds anticipation for the next season and… idk it feels more cohesive already? They coulda speedran kicking Erzsebet’s face in like the OG trio did to Dracula but I’m so glad they left us a lil something to look forward to.

Ayyyyy!! Wb! I hope you've been doing great in this crazy world of ours! Thanks for the message! Now, allow me to discuss these cuties that live on in my memories. Once upon a time, I was a member of a bustling discord where I was blessed to be in the company of creative people, whose ships and ocs kept me enthralled for months on end. They lived rent-free in my head; I was a cookie monster for every new crumb and detail, and, so, now, let's see how accurately I can describe them for you.

Shitzu (Shu x Mitsuha @crowtunezz) - Mitsuha feels like the modern tomboy we all relate to in our awkward, authentic, and endearingly goofy way. She reminds me of Chizuru Yoshida from Kimi ni Todoke! The way she goes blank when Shu is near, like Mitsuha.exe just crashes is so SWEET and real, while, internally, she isn't confident and assumes she hasn't the slightest chance that he'll ever be interested her in a million years, which ngl makes me root for her OVER and OVER because their dynamic is actually so precious?? He's chill and tired; she's energy personified, without being obnoxious and I can see his face lighting up with grins and laughter he hasn't had since he was a small boy. She brings him to life and he draws her back to her earth with a casual touch - that may or not result in her faceplanting and burning bright red from head to toe with steam pouring out of her flustered ears.

Yita (Yuma x Rita @margherita-dascenzo - Rita is PRECIOUS, built perfectly, and I don't care who disagrees because the way she was written speaks to me on a spiritual level. What girl out there doesn't have aspirations to live comfortably and hold some amount of power in the world? On the surface, she's sunshine and springtime, but behind this social butterfly is a woman in mourning for all she's lost to time - centuries of faces she'll never see again. She and Yuma have this natural chemistry about them that can range from relaxed and lighthearted to chaotic shenanigans to ALL KINDS OF SPICY???? His ears might eventually fall off from the amount of stories she tells him and, honestly, even though that part of her annoys him at times, I love that, over time, he accepts that part of her personality and doesn't try to change her because it is a part of her charm - he's important to her, and she just wants to tell him every single thing she can. On a surprisingly sad note, as I write this out, I realize a huge part of the reason she overshares is that she wants to tell him all she can tell him and solidify what they have because one day she just might not have him around anymore, and like so many, many others long gone, he, their memories, and their future family will remain forever woven into the depths of her heart.

Kalice (Kanato x Alice @eyelessdoll-y) - I tell no lies: I HAD NO TIME FOR THIS DOOD until I met this girl. I couldn't see what Kanato stans see in him, but this is the one that opened my eyes with her masterful insight, as if she'd designed him from scratch herself. From her very first, very detailed post, I was hooked on why he's so critical, so mistrustful, so changeable - and how Alice initially suffered horribly, but also how she redefines his very biased, very harsh preference of the perfect 'doll' girl. It angered and pained me to read how she accommodated him, empathized with him, understood him, and in his recklessness, his arrogance, he's not prepared to accept what's developing in his heart. As the already distraught Alice's mind is further manipulated and wounded by Laito and another Sakamaki who's looked on in envy, coveting the affection she showered onto his brother so dotingly, I feared the worst, and couldn't help but wonder whether or not the pair would ever reconcile. But, when they do, it's honestly the most touching thing - his flustered face, unprepared for how she wears her heart on her sleeve, but also how he dotes on her and wants her to have the most high-quality gowns, shoes, and accessories, to be suitable only for him, happy only with him - my heart weeps???

Kinklett (Kino x Scarlett @kindan-no-rp) - Where do I start? Dare I say the Kinkening? The step on me that started it all? These two have banter for days in the most electrifying ways. I needed popcorn one moment, and all the refreshments in the refrigerator the next. On one hand, Kino is hellbent on proving himself and not being outdone, but the depth in which he likes/loves Scarlett gets to me every single time. I live for his internal panic when they clash or confusion arises, and he faults himself -GASP ACCOUNTABILITY?? IN DL?? Someone pinch me- if/when he's wrong/witnessing her teary-eyed or upset because, despite his jokey, chaotic nature, he's actually very, very aware of how alone he is both in his ambitions and in his social circle - yes, there's Yuuri, but no one actually wants him until now, and he doesn't want to lose her, this woman he's pestered and played with, teased and charmed, and fallen hopelessly in love with, and can't go for too long without messaging her or popping by to spend time in her company, even if only to listen to her at the piano, practicing and perfecting her skill. Commitment is a nightmare to Scarlett, who's known unspeakable torture and enslavement, never again wanting to be tied down, controlled, or vulnerable to anyone - but when the red string of fate combines their lives, sparks fly, there is friction, and, underneath, a fierce, unbreakable loyalty and passion that both can't believe is actually, finally theirs and theirs alone.

Pff, jokes aside (and ngl the mxes design is really cool), here’s for a genuine question simply out of random curiosity: Bonnie is your favorite fnaf character, or among your favorites, that right? I am a little unfamiliar with his characterization, so I’d love to know what is it you like about him? That or if there’s any other ramblings about your favorite lagomorph(s) that you’d like to share, I’m all ears ^^

Yes, he's one of my favorites! The DCA has a pretty roomy spot up there in the faves but Bonnies is a classic love!

From the first FNAF game, my preference was design-based (love that he's an indigo rabbit, appeared the first night, and his general eerieness) but he was the one who seemed to know that the security guard was looking at the cameras at him. It was such an intense moment of one of the animatronics knowing what you're doing and I really dig that!

Then in FNAF 2 he had his withered appearance which is so sick and terrifying to look at! The design is so cool. I don't really care for Toy Bonnie all that much, but I don't really enjoy any of the toy animatronics either.

Then with Security Breach, Glamrock Bonnie is a mystery! He's gone but his absence is felt with Freddy and around the Pizzaplex, then there's the theories about how he disappeared and why. That really scratches an itch in my brain that only FNAF can really do.

My understanding of him as a character is that he's a confident musician (guitar or bass), laid back, and friendly. I picture him as a cool guy who makes a wisecrack or two and deadpans a joke. He'll tease and ruffle feathers good-naturedly (unless it's Monty) but he is often unbothered and easygoing. He loves to help the kids bowl and sees to it that everyone gets their favorite ice cream flavors. Everything he does looks effortless and easy, especially on stage. He's close friends with Freddy and gets along well with the rest of the band except for Monty. Bonnie doesn't like how hungry Monty looks when he's eyeing Freddy's mic.

I have a lot of thoughts about Mxes because yes, his design is so cool and his role in Ruin has me in a chokehold but I'm gonna hold onto those until I can do something more productive with them hehe

Ngl, Gotchard so far just might potentially be the first Reiwa rider season to have it's potential secondary rider make it's first debut the latest, surpass Revice to a lesser extent. (Daiji became Live later than Evil but even then Evil debut earlier on) Considering in most recent times the secondary rider often makes his debut pretty early like the second episode or so.

The last time we have a secondary rider debut pretty late (as in like the mid-late teens or so) like the earlier Neo-Heisei seasons and some later early Heisei seasons was Kamen Rider Beast from Kamen Rider Wizard...approximately like 10-11 years ago!

Or maybe they're trying to break the status quo of the rider classifications? (like how they don't outright call Neon/Naago a tertiary rider) Hmm...then again, that's just speculation. But even if we pretend that speculation turns out to be true, (it probably won't because maybe marketing reasons and then again the show is still going and again, the secondary rider can still make their debut in the mid-late teens like we got a decade ago) I would sort of respect them for trying to make new changes for this new era of Kamen Rider... (whether it's for better or for worse is an entirely different matter) At the same time, I have to admit it won't exactly feel the same not exactly having an official secondary rider again as that's pretty much been a staple since Agito... (Then again, it's highly highly unlikely we get a show like Kuuga again where the main rider is the only rider in the show. It's theoretical possible and manageable, don't get me wrong but I can't deny it's still improbable by this point in this)

So yeah, my speculations for potential possibilities for why the secondary rider is making it's debut later than we expected...is either: - One, they try to replicate the secondary debut element that we have gotten back in later Phase 1 Heisei seasons to early Neo-Heisei seasons - Two, they're trying to, at least partially break the status quo of rider classifications and trying something new or replace with a new status quo of classifications Which one of the two is more likely than the other, who knows? But hey, maybe there's a third possibility/theory or more I might be missing... now let's hear your two cents in all this, Ms. Kari.

Daiji debuted as Live in ep 10, so yeah, Gotchard already holds the record for the latest debut of an official secondary Rider as far as Reiwa is concerned. Kagerou debuted in ep 5. Everyone else (Isamu, Rintaro and Keiwa) debuted in ep 2.

If I’d hazard a guess, the writers of Gotchard are taking a lot of cues from the W-OOO-Fourze era of Kamen Rider, with the (relatively) lighter tone, more episodic plots, etc. This may include scaling back on the number of Riders in the series and spacing out their debuts more. Honestly, I kinda prefer this setup more, because sometimes it does feel like half the cast is just there to be fodder in fights or something.

As far as Rider classifications go, I don’t think they’ll push so far as to be rid of the secondary rider altogether. I can see them discarding the other designations but the secondary rider has been around way too long and and is too important from a narrative perspective (e.g. a rival or foil for the main rider). I mean, some Showa Riders are technically secondaries despite being part of the “main rider” roster because they’re not even the title rider of their series (e.g. Nigou, Riderman).

Yeah, they’re not getting rid of the secondary I think.

thoughts on the Ghoul School movie as i watch it:

• the opening is cute. gave me kind of a warm & fuzzy feeling that i can’t really explain

• i love Scooby using his tail to wipe the windshield. good thinking, Scoob.

ok my overall thoughts are that the movie was fun. there were some parts where i was bored but i liked the movie. definitely has a vibe of Halloween when you’re a kid. also i remember having this on DVD when i was younger and i think this was my first introduction to Scrappy. if i were to redo my ranking of Scooby movies, this would be in the good tier

Okay watch the first three episodes and heres my thoughts

Im gonna be really annoying about Earthspark especially when they give me Starscream btw. Literally the only thing i dislike are the parents bc otherwise this series is what I adore in Transformers augh. I tend to prefer the lighter series so this is up there with g1 and TFA.

Twitch and Thrash are adorable and extremely well wrote with cute designs. Im lovin Twitchs bug wings and Thrashs goggles, the series can write siblings really well imo.

Ngl I was hesitant with Megatron in this one because I feel Megatron is hit or miss when they write him, and when they miss they miss REALLY HARD. But I’m actively enjoying him si far. I like that even though he’s a good guy now he’s still got that bit of edge to him that makes it feel like him.

I also like more serious Bee whose still friendly, he reminds me more of his Goldbug self which is nice.

Also Swindles here and I’m a Swindle lover- I’m also liking Elita-1 but I’m hoping shes more than military woman strong.

I’m definitely interested in what Mandroids thing is, and if G.H.O.S.T can even be trusted

Over all after 3 episodes Earthsparks pretty solid, literally just ignore the parent and its such a good watch. Anyways super positive vibes for Earthspark- Go watch it

Tbh NOTPs are something I don’t really care too much about, mostly because I tend to stick to interacting with things I enjoy and avoid things I don’t, so I don’t spend much time thinking about what I dislike. This has been true for pretty much forever for me with shipping. I can’t even name NOTPs from past fandoms tbh…It’s all just personal preference with fiction at the end of the day and I like being in my little beloved Prickcest bubble. 🥰

NOTP is super specific so I’m just going to broaden/define it as a ship I don’t like. So for that, I don’t like Rickorty. I avoid it because it really isn’t for me…

13. What's a character or ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to some day?

Beth/Space Beth, I mean come on Prickcest parallels but they actually made it work?? 😭 Plus it’s cute to imagine SB encouraging Beth to stand up for herself and Beth getting SB to open up, maybe even them doing a silly adventure together sometime. Plus I’m kinda scared one of them is gonna die maybe, (esp with the clone story meta in s7, don’t think I forgot about that) so tragedy potential through the roof. I think it would be a really fun ship to explore.

A runner up to this is Doofus Jerry/Jerry, yes I entirely blame garabe (@/invisiblegarabgetruck, their art is so good/funny/cute, all of the above 🫠🩵don’t want to bother them with a tag 🥲) but idk it’s just one I’d love to draw for some day, I haven’t thought too deeply about writing for though yet, I still need to finish the comics first and actually read the DJ arc. 💀 I’m a master of putting even things I want to do off.

I think I have a ship type ngl, who knows you better than yourself gone wrong lmao. Idk I just love the aspects of getting to learn more about themselves through external conflict and how bizarre their internalised/self normalised interactions can be. I’d also like to try drawing Nimbus some day, idk I just like his colour scheme/eyes/design

Kay Soul Eater fans, finally finished Fire Force

Between the shift in tone and the way they developed the characters, I'm still of the opinion Soul Eater > Fire Force.

But below the cut are my pros and cons for it as a lore prequel

Pros...

The concept of The Evangelist being driven mad by humanity's negative desires and that being the precurser to Asura. I liked the idea of Asura being a Fury driven made by conflicting ideals of justice, driven to fear his own father due to how humanity persieved him for my own fics. The Evangelist was just that, with elements of Asura's design in it, so I'm going to go ahead and say headcanon confirmed.

Arthur's hope and dellusions making Excalibur. Having a creature born from humanity's desire to do good and watch over the new world beginning to end was sweet. And also he was a crazy lil shit the whole time? Perfect.

The cyclical nature of the world. (I.E. the birth and deaths of new worlds being more symbolic of great change, rather than the actual end of the world). This lines up with a lot of anchient myths referenced in both series. Ragnarok's literally named after that concept (specifically the war of the gods). So to have that concept canonized and for SE to start at the beginning of another apocalyptic war where the very nature of the moon and stars changed with new gods awakening is good. Neat, love to see it.

Black Star seemingly being named after the Great Cataclysm. In SE he mentions his name meaning "returning to darkness" and kinda hating it. I found that odd since, clearly that's not what that phrase means in English. (Also, according to SEN, he chose to keep it). But seeing the black sun at the end of FF made it all click.

Witches and Shinigami-sama being two side of the same power. (Liking the concept here, not the execution).

Maka's parents reading to her abt this. You know that lil perfectionist enternalized the shit out of this story. (I'm also a sucker for lil kid designs)

Mid/Neutral

The heavy influence of the Bible on the world building and seeing how that's translated through a Japanese cultural/folklore lens. Interesting to see all that interact with Greek mythology. I was getting in my head abt doing that in my own fics on accident (s2g I'm not trying to make Black Star anime Moses, but now I'm wondering >_>) Always fun seeing how people on the outside interpret something you grew up with.

Kinda like the idea of 8 pillars. I would have rather there been more balance with what the pillars represented instead of an edgy version of Inside Out. It seemed more like a way to countdown toward the apocalypse as opposed to something sustainable in the world building, but I get the idea they were going for. Minus points for them not aligning with any of the Old Ones from SE.

Whimsy being the core part of SE. Like, yeah cartoon logic is abundant. Kind of a clever twist, but also a bummer it insinuates heroes would only exist in a cartoon world.

Animals having magic being different from witches with their own patron diety. Makes sense in the grand scheme of things, doesn't line up with LD thinking Blair was a witch then. LD, did you want Maka to fail the first time on purpose >_> I'd buy that tbh.

Cons

I've said this before, I'll say it again, no god of death??? The more research I do on shinigami, the more this seems like an oversight (they just kinda watch, they don't decide who lives or dies). So you have a god of creation, you have an other world/ afterlife, but no god charged with taking good souls to the other side. Humanity clearly wanted that, they had nuns to pray for it to happen, but that somehow hasn't manifested in the two iterations of the world we've seen? Also would have preferred seeing more than two Old Ones ngl.

Shinigami-sama being able to take godhood from someone. I get that you gotta reset the status quo, but... If he could do that, Asura shouldn't have been an issue. Especially since he's the one who gave him the power in the first place. Why didn't he pull and Aang?

The first witch being Kim with less agency and less control over her power, didn't love it. There's so many different ways they could have set up the catalyst of witches v shinigami. Like nature vs nuture or any other number of things would be more interesting than "catch me if you can". They have a whole realm and religion by the time of SE, there's no seed for that introduced at all.

Where are the werewolves? They supposedly had a whole clan of immortals. Everythings better with werewolves.

Honestly don't buy Rekka being granddaddy Star Clan. There's very little that ties him to the way of the assassin, or the aesthetic other than the eyes. Another missed opportunity.

Are dopplegangers still a thing? Kinda unclear on that one, considering how many were left walking around. This could just be me forgetting something that was said though.

More of a nitpick than a con, the translation I read Shinra said he "changed the value of a life" in order to bring his friends back. Implying death isn't as serious now? That just doesn't feel true given the wieght of character deaths in SE, Sid being the one exception. Just left me feeling a lil icky, didn't like it.

Claiming Kid was in anyway modeled after Shinra. I would have taken LD commenting on Soul looking like Shinra or Black Star acting like him, but Kid is the farthest from that character in every way. Once again, if he was going to do that, Asura was right there. (Also is it just me or did LD seem surprised Kid appeared??? Like humanity manifested him?)

I'd argue that changing a character's ethnicity/sexuality is usually a bad move, mostly due to the inevitable shitstorm that it will occurr, but also, specifically in regards to ethnicity swaps, they tend to result in massive design changes which for some characters is a bad thing in general because it can mess up what made their original designs work in the first place

Imagine making Griffith black: his entire design would get fucked because it all revolves around the color white to contrast Guts' mainly black color scheme

Other times it would just clash with the whole story of the character: there's absolutely no way you could make a character like Farnese black or asian or anything else because her whole point is that she comes from a noble family that is very blatantly inspired by old italian aristocracy

In the case of a character like Isaac turning him black doesn't necessarily ruin him in any way (hell black red heads tend to be quite popular in japanese media from what I know)...it's everything else about his design that doesn't feel like Isaac

Isaac is associated with the color red. He has instantly recognizable flaming red hair and his outfit is reddish black. This is important to his character because he's the Red Oni to Hector's Blue Oni: he's wild, passionate and driven by emotions such as rage and bitterness, while Hector is more levelheaded which also what allows him to resist the Curse in the end.

Making him black doesn't affect this. I've seen fanart of black Isaac with his red hair, sometimes in dreadlocks, and ngl he looks very good (the one sacrifice is that his tattoos don't stand out as much, but I'm sure a good artist could work around that). His backstory is also enough to justify why he'd resent mankind and devote himself to Dracula, and being black shouldn't affect this either.

("oh but he'd look unrealistic" N!Isaac already has red eyes for unexplained reasons and N!Hector has grey hair, there's more IRL basis for a black person with red hair)

But for some reason, someone in the crew thought that an insanely devoted black man who thinks of himself as a tool was too problematic (and I can see how it would be seen as such), and instead of leaving him alone, they stripped him away of everything that made him Isaac to make him a "proper" black representation. The balanced relationship between him and Hector is completely gone in the show: both of them are serious and reserved, it's just that Isaac is more cynical and ruthless while Hector is idealistic and naive. Plus, as I have pointed out, the two have the chemistry of two coworkers forced to share the same building, which is boring lol. N!Isaac is still associated with red, mainly in his magic, but it lost all meaning - in fact, his clothes also go from pure black, which looks awful contrasted to Hector's CoD outfit, to blue. Blue! Hector's color! Bruh!

Regardless of how you feel about race swapping, Isaac was not the right character to race swap. Hector was! You know, the guy who is all about realizing that his Master is not someone worth following and taking his own life in his own hands, proudly declaring to be a human being and not a pawn? Just saying! But no, they preferred to gut Isaac like a fish, getting rid of everything that made him recognizable, to cash in those "yay they fixed the bad character!" points.

so then i’m like could it be that since she had such a hard ass life she wasn’t afforded that? cuz when you take that into consideration that’s a common thing with WOC when faced with colonialism

in order to not fit in with the status quo and do revolutionary work she is stripped of that by design cuz she and her father could have very well decided that the missing people where pointless and became somebody like taesang

they had become dirty sleuths which in a way proves the japanese ill conceived notions about koreans “right” but it also gives koreans an upper hand because if someone already expects something of you then you have nothing to loses. you are free from respectability politics and that makes wanting freedoms much more valuable to you

cuz take taesang, although korean, he tried to assimilate and this man was really worried about losing material things at first instead of not having his freedom because he was so caught up in appearances. “if they think i’m one of them, they won’t hurt me.” WRONG. THE JAPANESE HURT EACH OTHER POOKIE😭

but i will say that doesn’t negate his trauma. he was trying to survive by playing capitalism’s game when it wasn’t designed for him. hell its not even in the japanese best interest either.

so like before she was a sleuthy butch, a lot of her flashbacks are her in traditional hanbok but also she never comments on not feeling uncomfortable in her baby blue pants suit when they infiltrate the hospital.

had they flushed out her character more in that regard, that would have actually made a conversation with taesang about

“do you not enjoy nice things?���

“yeah, but i would have preferred the suit.”

cuz let’s be honest, i was not feeling the love radiate off taesang until he was crying over her dead body. like yeah he saved her a couple times.

but also the whole hand holding thing😭 SHE DID NOT INITIATE AT ALL and had that man sweating about if he should hold her hand. I THOUGHT YALL WAS IN LOVE. YOU CANT EVEN HOLD A BITCH HAND. WE ARE AT THE FINAL HOUR!!!

but back to chaeok. her father made taesang promise to take care of her and provide a life that wasn’t sleuthing. basically he said “give my daughter a soft life.”

we can’t deny that taesang is a traditional man. he would have her dressed in the finest clothes. she would not have to walk around like a hard ass man anymore.

but i’m stuck at a cross roads where i’m like i see the potential for her to be butch but also keep femme. and i also see potential for her to have something meaningful with taesang but also a woman

in black culture we have stems (stud + femme) so that’s how i imagine her

but really none of this matters because honestly i don’t even think there should have been romance in this at all or at least not as heavily. (the ending pissed me off, they just opened the tropes chest and grabbed shit)

i wonder why they felt nobody would want to watch the show without a romance. it’s a historical fiction with so much history, it could have done without.

I'm done!! I've finished all of Chapter 6 and holy moly that was a ride.

First off:

Idia's overblot design will always hurt me man... he looks ridiculously like Ortho, with his mouth covered and the hair flaming upwards + he interestingly enough looks like Hades in his chibi sd form. Very cool design. But I will always feel really sad when I see his OB!Form...

I'm glad things resolved itself AND we got an Ignihyde rhythmic at last! I teared up man, Idia and Ortho got to play games with friends (or schoolmates as Idia prefers to refer to them as lol)! I hope regular game nights become a thing.

Ortho is officially a student now! It makes sense why he didn't have a school uniform outfit beforehand. Welcome to the first year gang, Ortho, we're glad to have you.

So many feelings, so many touching moments. It's also kinda crazy how Malleus can reverse someone's appearance just like That. I guess Diasomnia's chapter is going to be about existential crises lmao. Kinda scared ngl.

Also Ignihyde's chapter had this weird feeling of like, new beginnings? I find it hard to believe that Chapter 7 will be the last one honestly. Like, we literally just got our dorm renovated AND we have a new student in the first year gang. Unless Crowley speedruns finding a way home for Yuu next chapter, I doubt Twisted Wonderland will end so soon.
