because i know my death note mutuals aren’t getting what they wanted from me

-can crack his elbows the way one would crack their knuckles

-probably had to do a musical elective in his first year of middle school and chose guitar cause he thought it would be easy but it wasn’t.

-the type of song he really enjoys is very specific. going to hell yet i tried so so hard to please god song. i missed my only chance song. why wasn’t i like the other kids song. thrones playlist. i could elaborate but i won’t

-as for sexuality, i see him as not wanting to put a label on whatever he is in theory but in practice being some type of bispec (probably berriromantic) for romantic attraction and then somewhere on the asexual spectrum for sexual attraction.

-as for gender i see him as agender whose not really in labeling himself as anything when it comes to sexuality and gender.

-agender but probably 100% fine with being super male presenting. he just wants to keep out of gender as a convo and that’s great. good for him

-no!!!!! i refuse to say this mf is aromantic (because it’s not accurate and it’d be an insult to aromantic people to say he’s aro)!!!!!

-just because he manipulated misa and kiyomi into doing his bidding and didn’t love them doesn’t immediately make him aro. i’m sure he could have found someone if he wanted to, and he could have loved them if he was with them to love them, but he wasn’t with them to love them he was with them to use them.

He squeezes you hard, hands gripping into your fabric. Your shirt is damp when he finally lets go, thanking you for the gift.

He got teary-eyed the next few times you gave him something, but now just hugs you as a thanks.

Any gift you give him is also shown off. He can’t help it! You’re so cool.

Is definitely used to more aggressive and detached affection. Her parents care for her, but more about her grades and her reputation. Her friends care for her, but those relationships are very flighty.

However, your presence in her life is very stable. She feels like she will always be able to go to you if she’s ever upset.

She doesn’t talk about you a lot, but will throw hands with anyone who insults you.

Doesn’t get how someone could insult you, and got in a fight with a fourth grader over it.

You had to clean her wounds after it; you gave her a lecture that it’s not worth it, but also understand why she felt the need to fight.

Love when you make her jewelry. Will wear it even if it clashes with her outfit.

Always goes to you when she has problems with Stan. Knows you’ll listen to all of her issues, and values any advice you can give.

jimmy valmer

Really values how sympathetic and understanding you are.

You don’t make his disability a big deal: you slow down when you’re walking with him, and mock his stutter.

Also really appreciates that you laugh at his jokes; you’re his number one fan!

You make an effort to show to every one of his shows.

He doesn’t say anything, but likes that he can always find you in his audience. If he gets nervous for any reason he’ll just look at you.

He always gets your approval when he has a new joke! He tells you first, then the gang second

Was confused the first time you gave him a gift.

“Wha- what is it?”

You kinda just shrug, and it’s probably a toy, and say it reminded you of him.

It becomes his favorite to play with; it’s the only toy he also doesn’t share

You definitely get him those pun books for fun. You know it’s not original material but still think they can be funny.

Like yeah everyone has their own hcs and all, but I see too much crybaby azul content :/ granted he WAS a crybaby, not anymore, that's what I remember at least. And after his breakdown he's been dubbed a crybaby again 😂 I mean come on everyone breaks down once in a while. Floyd said he's not the same crybaby anymore, and yeah he'd have his insecurities but is it THAT bad?? Where did all his confidence disappear off to :((

But I'm also wondering about his romantic side. Twst is not an otome so fans make up their own hcs, but I see a lot of "shy, nervous, simp, bottom (help 😭)" etc azul when it comes to this. Personally, I think it sort of clashes?? I sometimes wonder, "what if our interpretations are completely different than what yana believes" 😂

Like okay, I don't think he's had a romantic experience before but he can't be AS pathetic as how some fics have shown him to be? I don't know he's just so useless and pitiful there, and can't do SHIT without the tweels.

Another thing is his strength. Yeah his stamina sucks and all but even after getting it confirmed that he's physically strong I see posts like: azul can't lift a fly

NOOOOooo like in chp 6 we even get to see more of his strength! And I believe he mentions how he's confident in his strength. I don't know, I've been seeing too much of this 😭

In the end everyone can interpret him how they like tbh because he's just a character, but I don't wanna stray away too much from canon. Your thoughts perhaps??

First off, you're very valid for feeling this way. If anything, you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. Trust me, as an Azul stan and as someone who yearns to know more about him, seeing the fandom reducing him to a crybaby has made me feel frustrated.

I actually had to hold off from answering this ask at first because topics like these are hard to really discuss especially when you established a reputation somehow. I can't just say that the fandom is stupid or shitty for interpreting a piece of text or a character in a way that I disapprove or disagree (and lawdy trust me, I made that mistake at least three times, and I think that ended up ugly). Not everyone has the patience or the time to look at TWST in such a deep way, and that's okay! Each of us show our love for the game in our own ways. And as you said, anon, everyone can interpret Azul—and pretty much everyone else in TWST—how they like.

Sadly, it doesn't erase the fact that it gets frustrating at best and downright depressing at worst to see that the common interpretation for Azul is crybaby octopus when there's so much more to him than just him having a mental breakdown.

Azul worked hard to become someone better than his past self. He studied hard, he practiced his magic until he made a powerful UM. He planned his way into becoming Octavinelle's dorm leader (according to Dorm Idia story). He established a student business that's thriving (which Ace says in his Union story, which says a lot that someone from the outside can say that it's a success). Anon also said it. It was Jade actually, but he implied that Azul hasn't cried in a while in chapter 3-35.

Floyd: What now? Azul, are you getting a little misty-eyed?

Jade: My my, have you gone back to the ink-spitting crybaby? [TL by shel_bb]

Take note that the phrasing is "have you gone back", not "are you being the ink-spitting crybaby again", which is heavy implication that Azul hasn't cried in a while.

He worked hard to be a better person. Even TWST puts such emphasis in Azul's hard work. Where people like Leona and Vil felt that not even hard work would bring them the recognition that they want, hard work was what brought Azul to some of his most successful years.

One time, a friend pointed out that one of the biggest misinterpretations about Azul is that people underestimate his determination and hard work. And holy shit, it is true.

Once, someone asked me about Azul's voice: If it was shown in the flashback that he stole someone's voice, wouldn't that mean that his voice would be different starting from chapter 4 now that his contracts have been dusted?

A good question honestly. And at the time, I didn't know how to answer it because huh, that's interesting, but also, his voice never really changed at the end of chapter 3 either. But the short answer? No. Long answer? Azul didn't just cheat his way and use the talents of others that he took. Yes, he used the abilities he took, but it doesn't mean he didn't slack off. He worked hard to build an image: someone confident, intelligent, unbreakable. He would have made sure that he sounded that way to people.

On the topic of Azul's determination, he has his own skills too. Anon pointed out his strength, so I'll get into that. Yes he can't fly, but by God, he has strength. Even Floyd had a miffed reaction to people calling Azul weak. He didn't have to tell Riddle, Vil, and Epel during Beans Day that Azul was actually strong, he doesn't have reason to. But he fucking did.

Riddle: And where do you get off mocking ME? Your housewarden Azul is hardly a heavy hitter himself with his magic out of the equation. From what I saw earlier, he was the only one on the monster team struggling to catch his breath.

Vil: True. If he's that desperate to improve his PE grade, he could try putting in the work every day to—

Floyd: Wait, hold up. Who said anything about Azul bein' weak without his magic? He's real strong. [Beans 2, Chapter 20, official localization]

That same strength is also confirmed in chapter 6 as well! While I don't have a reliable translation to quote it from, Azul tells Riddle that even if he was collared, he would still have the strength of his arms.

So okay, this is just one explanation as to why Azul isn't just crybaby. Again, we all have our different interpretations and that's okay~.

What is not okay is when people not only reduce Azul to being a crybaby but also calling him pathetic for it.

I think some of you guys know this recent Twitter poll about the most pathetic character in Twisted Wonderland. It's a fun poll, it's really funny to look at the results (like that one round where Ace got 93% of the votes lmaooooo), and it was all in good fun. But the problem was that some of the qrts said that Azul is pathetic because he cried in chapter 3, or that chapter 3 was the proof you need to justify Azul being pathetic.

Listen, many of us would agree that it's funny to point and laugh at Azul. Like for example, a lot of Azul stans, myself included, find it funnier than frustrating that Azul didn't get event cards for nearly two years because he was the first character to murder us with 2 SSRs in one month. Right now, it's also funny that Azul's recent Camp outfit almost makes him look like a middle aged Korean grandma, but let's be honest, it's still a good outfit. But still, there's a lightheartedness to all the joking. It's nothing mean spirited.

But call Azul pathetic for crying, for breaking down in tears, even if it's joking, and that's when it gets hurtful. Yes, Azul is a fictional character, so it's more "okay" to call him pathetic for that than to call real people pathetic. Yes, maybe I do care too much for fucking pixels.

But seeing so many people say that Azul is pathetic for being a crybaby speaks so much about the kind of people they are. It speaks of a bigger societal problem regarding toxic masculinity, where boys are pathetic when they cry. If Azul was a girl, would you still call her pathetic for breaking down?

I don't think people realize it, but having to hear these comments about Azul hurts. I've heard these comments everywhere: Twitter, Tumblr, and especially my own fucking friends and fellow Octavinelle stans.

There was one time I saw a friend say that they would find Sebek being crybaby adorable but if it's Azul, it's pathetic coming from him. At the time, my mental health was down the drain. I went through days when I just wanted to lose it right then and there and cry my heart out. Azul is one of my few sources of comfort, so I especially held onto him tightly that time. So to have someone just say that? I felt hurt by that. Maybe it sounds crazy, but at that time, I thought, "So if you think Azul's crying is pathetic, does that mean you'd say me crying is pathetic?"

There was another time when I wanted to scream about how hardworking Azul was because chapter 6 highlighted that even more. Someone made a tweet (in JP) how Azul's magic isn't as good as some of the other boys, but the fact that he's one of the strong mages still is a testament to how hard he worked to reach that point. And I linked that in a server, and before I could say anything, someone went in and said, "Lmaooo this crybaby is actually okay." Needless to say, not only did they just say it when I was about to lovemail, I was hurt by that comment too because just having people say that they look at Azul like he's pathetic felt hurtful.

I'm going to repeat, hearing those comments hurts. A lot of people love Azul for a reason. He made people feel seen, he's someone that a lot of people intimately relate to. He's a lot of people's comfort character. Please remember that.

I'll end this post on that note. Sorry anon that I used your ask to ramble like this. But I really want this to be said and heard. Again, to repeat, it's okay to interpret things differently. Some of us don't have the time to look at TWST deeply, and some of us just don't have that patience to do so, and that's alright. And we're not perfect, our biases may come out, and we may say things that may sound mean. But yeah, I just want people to at least know that there's more to Azul than just being crybaby. And that calling Azul pathetic for being a crybaby is hurtful and feeds to the bigger problem about how boys are seen to be pathetic when they cry.

How do I even choose?

I have different reasons for liking all of my favs

(I will expand on all of these if asked. Please ask. Please. Id analyze any character in twst if asked I love them all)

Ace: I love how blunt he is. He doesn't sugarcoat his feelings as he speaks up for himself, others, and what he thinks is right. He can be an idiot, but I love him nonetheless! Although I feel like canon doesn't do much with his character and he's just used as a way to make other characters have development. (Ex: Riddle in ch.1 deuce in ch.5 the fairy gala remix in his card story) But all in all I think I love him because he's the opposite of me. (I can't speak up for myself...)

Trey: Like Ace, canon doesn't do much with his character and fandom doesn't really do anything with him besides using him as a way for cater angst? (No hate to Cater stans of course) so a lot of his character is my speculation. (He is not a normal guy he is lying to himself.) I love how I can pick apart his character without canon coming in and crushing my dreams. (I project onto him frequently.)

Leona: Oh boy. Here we go. God I love Leona so much. Obviously, he's a depressed bitch and neither canon nor fandom properly recognizes it he also has some serious trauma. (knowing you could be better but, why try? Your goal is impossible anyways.) Also, (as far as I know) he's the only Overblot victim who didn't properly redeem himself. (Ripping up Azul's contracts out of selfish desires is not redemption.) So that's canon mischaracterizing their own character and the fandom, is the fandom. Overall Leona is mischaracterized way too much and I kin him. (That's the reason I love him. I kin him.)

Azul: Azul is literally my baby. I love him because I just wanna give him a hug. The way his ED is implied a few times and then never brought up again is really annoying to me like- if you're gonna give ED rep at least mention in more than his chapter! It's a key part of his character and it's barely there. Oh also he was bullied and I relate to that.

Jamil: The vibes. Gender Envy. The pyromania. The way he hates Kalim even though it's not his fault because he needs someone to be angry at and it's so easy to hate the person directly causing your problems rather than blaming the system behind them. Oh also he's brown and I'm brown so it's like-

Vil: VILLL MY BEAUTIFUL QUEEN. Gender. Envy. The things I could do if I was him- she's so- can you imagine if I was amab? I could be feminine and still not be seen as a girl. Anyways the way he's always second place but doesn't blame the person who's above him but rather blames himself is so sad but so me.

Idia: his gamer talk is so funny sometimes. Oh also I wish I had an older brother like him. Oh also I haven't finished ch.6 but I'm really excited. Oh also technological characters always have a special place in my heart. oh also he's depressed and I find that relatable.

Sebek: I love him. He's so loud and so rude (humans) but I love him he's such a dork. He's trying his best okay? Id really love to see his character when it's not revolving around Malleus though.

bianca’s the main character. she thinks ghosts and supernatural stuff are all complete bullshit, but she is a bored teenager with enough determination and spite that when kids start going missing, she decides she has to be the one to get to the bottom of it. also she’s bi + ace :)

lillian’s her best friend slash partner in crime slash platonic soulmate. she’s the believer to bianca’s skeptic, but she would actually kill a man to see a ghost. uh, no pun intended. she’s witty and sarcastic, but really does love her friends, even if she doesn’t show it. on top of being the number one ghost stan, she’s also the head of the newspaper club, and she’s always on the lookout for a scoop, so this is the perfect opportunity for her. she’s trans and a lesbian!!

taylor’s the other part of this detective trio but not the third friend of one thank you very much. he’s a believer, too, but more in the way that he thinks a ghost could kill him, so he’s terrified of them. he has issues with emotion, and he argues with lillian a lot, but he really is a sweetheart. when his crush makes a dare to go down to the supposedly-haunted boiler room and never returns, he pushes aside his paranormal fears and cracks down on the case. he’s trans + bi!

elijah’s a soccer star and one of the only decent popular kids… and also taylor’s crush. he’s a closet theatre nerd, too, but despite the rumors the theatre is haunted he’s a skeptic. not that that stops him from pretending to be a believer - which ends up being the thing that throws the entire school into chaos, anyway, since he’s impulsive and bold enough to risk a bet to go into the haunted boiler room, but never ends up returning. fucking loser (i love him). he’s gay!

dani’s the president of the environmental club and dear god just needs a break. she’s caring, the single braincell of the group, and nearly always tired from the ongoing shenanigans, but also always ready to lend a hand. she’s not exactly a believer, though not exactly a skeptic, either, believing that there’s no real proof either way, and she doesn’t exactly have time to think about ghosts, anyway. she’s an aroace icon!!

sam’s the school’s resident cryptid. it’s not that he isn’t there, he just lurks in the back, showing up places he probably shouldn’t be, and somehow always seems to know things. things he… shouldn’t know, really. no one knows how he does. he has a dry sense of humor - and speaking in general, really - that scares people off until you get to know him better. he’s bi!

hailey’s… not in any of these quotes and honestly not overall super important to the story (as of now), but she’s the girl’s swim team captain and student council vice president and definitely has her apples in way too many baskets. she’s a literal ray of sunshine, the absolute sweetest person you’ll ever meet, and the holder of the biggest case of comphet this world has ever seen. she’s a lesbian, if that isn’t clear enough.

first of all, i got into atz thanks to hongjoong, then had a brief san moment, but hwa was the one who truly captured my heart eventually and he won't let me go lolol, so i relate! i saw atz on their first tour and didn't pay much attention to seonghwa (even tho he was killing it so wtf what was on 🤡), but then wonderland happened and i was gooooooone. he's a fascinating specimen and very very inspiring too

second of all, despite everything i really liked we ransacked the city and re-read it a few times, so you clearly did something right! i do understand you may feel unsatisfied it didn't turn out the way you wanted. for me it's a good one tho!

relatable on the attraction part, i'm ace and probably aro as well, i generally find people visually pleasing, but it's mostly non-men 😅 there are many attractive male idols, but no one hits as hard as hwa, he's really my ideal gender presentation too 😭 a real chameleon and it's insanely appealing to me

hi hi! it isn't your signal, i got the message - i was just traveling all day yesterday and didn't get home until close to midnight so i didn't have any time to sit down and answer anything especially in the manner i prefer to!

atz is the only group where i switched my bias...and i've switched three times. i got into the group the week of debut cuz i saw a gifset of wooyoung, then hongjoong became my bias from say my name era and onward (idk if newer atiny are aware of how much hate and negativity hj originally got for his mullet but it was nonstop almost the entire time he had it on instagram comments etc. i loved how he stuck with the hairstyle for so long because he loved having it and that really leapt out at me and made me appreciate him more.) and then i switched to hwa during fireworks...but hwa has really hit me HARD on a way the only other idol i feel so unhinged over is probably taemin. (most likely because he plays with gender like a toy and i love that so much, both hwa and taemin are probably the most "ideal type" of idol to me. as you said, so many idols are gorgeous and i can appreciate how stunning they are but hwa and taemin are...just beyond for me.)

it's so cool that you got to see them at their first tour. i was unable to because 1. money to travel since they didn't visit my state and 2. personal reasons involving my dipshit now ex boyfriend. i'm always envious of anyone who got to see them so early lol.

i'm glad that you enjoyed we ransacked the city, another person said it was their favourite story of mine. i know a lot of ppl who love it. as the writer, of course you notice things about your own work that no one else will, and i just didn't think i nailed the gossip girl vibe i was trying to obtain there. i also wanted the city to feel like its own character which i believe i failed at. (and i attempted this again with arrow in the dark which i think i achieved more successfully this time around.) but i can look at any of my stories and note things i believe i "failed" at.

i do feel a mild pressure at times to write for other members of ateez but i like to believe that anyone who has messaged me, or read my asks, or even ppl i've befriended thru running this blog knows what ateez means to me. when it comes to groups, they are my ults. i am into a lot of kpop groups but they are my main loves.

i've never gotten any outright hate messages about it. i love every single member of ateez and believe every single one of the members are crucial to the dynamic of the group that makes it so successful. when mingi was on hiatus it was like smiling with a missing front tooth - you could feel the absence without him there. i love each member for different reasons, i just write about hwa 99 percent of the time because he's like...my writing muse and i'm as smitten with him as one can be when it comes to an idol. but nothing gives me greater joy than the group as a whole and i like to believe? hope? that anyone who follows this blog and reads my stuff knows that.

Finally started watching the Owl House. First animated show that I’ve watched since Gravity Falls, so I just decided to post a few thoughts for posterity. Thoughts below for S1E1 (A Lying Witch and a Warden):

Detailed thoughts:

Currently wondering whether we’ll see Luz’s mother again, and if so, what role she’ll play in the series. The fact that she actually appears in the first episode is a positive sign that she’ll appear again (or at least her calls and text messages). Maybe if Luz has to (or is threatened to) leave the Boiling Isles?

How will Luz turn out at the end of this? Will she return to the human world? The story feels like a standard coming-of-age story and the way its framed as taking place over the summer suggests that she will. If she does, will she leave behind the Owl House forever, or will she still be able to visit Eda and King? Will she still have magic if she becomes a witch?

How will Luz and her mother interact after her adventure is over? It’s clear that her mother loves Luz, but can’t seem to accept her fully for who she is (her mother forcing Luz to throw away her book is very relatable). What will it take for Luz to convince her? A simple heartfelt discussion or will she visit (or at least learn about) the Boiling Isles too?

Will whatever happens in the Boiling Isles (does the world have a separate name?) ever come to affect the human world? Eda mentions that human mythology is based on things coming from their world. I can’t imagine we’ll see many (if any) other people coming from the human world, given that Luz’s mother says that Luz doesn’t have any friends, which makes me think that the story will be fairly self-contained.

There’s a lot you can read into and parallels you can make regarding the fact that the Boiling Isles seem to be governed by some sort of authoritarian regime that locks up all dissidents that don’t conform to their concept of how society should be, especially now given what’s going on in America and Iran. With how this first episode has played out, I feel like this will be a reoccurring theme throughout the show. On a less serious note: Fantasy world being forced to conform to mundanity gives me big Lego Movie vibes.

General thoughts:

Before looking it up, I didn’t know that Dana Terrace also worked on Duck Tales and Gravity Falls or that Alex Hirsch was involved w/ the Owl House. I could certainly tell from the humor though (+ King’s voice).

Eda and her human collectibles reminds me of Grunkle Stan and the Mystery Shack. The same for Luz and Mabel w/ the fantasy v. reality angle that the show seems (somewhat) premised on.

The currency is snails? Is it still commodity-backed? If I went to a bank in the Boiling Isles and redeemed a bill, would they hand me back a bucket of snails? God I hope so.

Nothing says greatest witch on the Boiling Isles than openly announcing it knowing the guards can’t catch you. Also, will we get to meet other witches in this series? What does it mean to be a witch?

“If I die here my mom’s going to kill me!”

Why Eda mean to Hooty :c

Really enjoying how one of Eda’s centerpiece decorations is a wanted poster for herself. Also is there any significance to the glowing art of the bird-like creature over her fireplace?

“These guys really have the hots for you.” This line stood out to me when I first heard it. Good to see that it was foreshadowing.

Sorta wish that we could have gone longer without seeing Warden Wrath without his mask, mainly since he reminds me of Ace from Rubyquest who had a similar role, aesthetic, and reveal. Wrath is less creepy than Ace. Instead he’s just more of a creep.

Given the ending, is there any truth to King’s backstory that Eda tells Luz? Was King really a demon king, or is Eda just entertaining him?

What is the significance of humans to the Boiling Isles? There’s never been a human witch before, but also the contraband in the Conformatorium can only be accessed by a human? Is that because humans aren’t common or magical enough to be affected by the shield?

The Boiling Isles have cell reception? Does Luz have a charger? Do they have power outlets on the Boiling Isles?

picking a favorite episode is genuinely so difficult. if i can give you one from each ep that isn't Nace centric, it would probably be 113 or 116, 212 (i'm a grant stan), 303 or 307 (the grief eps were always so good), annnnd 404 and 413.

i really wish we had more grant- i know i will keep harping on it but i want to know more. the road back of course, rip tom swift and what could have been. overall i'm actually pretty satisfied with the many loose ends they were able to tie up. i would however love to see more background for Bess and what is happening with her, at most we got her burning the family invitation from the Marvin's in s2 or 3 if i recall. anything else i'm blanking on bc it's late.

oh jeez. college aus are my jam. there are several aus that i love the universes that were crafted, specifically the winery au that was done by jules (i gotta reblog w a link as i can't find it at this moment), but anything college is my jam. i love modern aus because i usually am reading or watching something fantasy where everyone is d wording LMAOOOO

1) from cr, ashton. hes got it all: my pronouns, my personality, my problems..... but the bits of myself i see in them are the bits i like, like the aggressive mother henning and the awareness of who/what is or is not a good target for venting frustrations (even if some of his coping skills are uh. not great). add in the chronic migraines and chronic (nerve?????) pain/other related impact trauma pain and im just like this one is M I N E sorry tal

2) kylo ren, from the star wars st. i can never tell if i like kylo or hux better because i find both of them really interesting to write, however, hux is interesting because even after three movies (and several comics) hes largely still a ghost where we dont really know a ton about him or his motivations, so hes really fun to flesh out. kylo otoh, we know (slightly) more about and his base fucked-up-ness is interesting to build off and make aa. functional lmao, both in a "this character is well written" way and a "this persons personality could feasibly exist" way. in cannon, i find him to be a really interesting portrayal of how even coming from a loving family with all the available resources doesnt mean shit if youve got a (literal) voice in your head influencing you towards a dark path. hes also a pretty recognizable portrayal of how being groomed for something can really fuck you up. NOT that i think either of these reads are true to text or intentional on the behalf of the directors/didney, there is no way that nuance was baked in BUT it is why i connected with him so hard (ask me about my kylo shelves..... but not right now i still have bits to put in there i just cant reach very well bc my ac is in front of it lmao)

3) bucky barnes, both mcu and comics. okay so, i liked bucky in the first avenger I thought he was a great match for steve both personality wise and in looks 10/10 no notes seb stan as bucky could ask me for a dance and id join him on the floor (i dont dance). then the winter solider came out and this is the only mcu movie i actually bought and have watched more than a couple of times, for a hot minute it was my bed time movie because i just love everything about seb stan as the winter soldier that man knocked it out of the park and also in hindsight my LUST for the beef of him there really foreshadowed how much im enjoying my body on t lmao. the mcu bucky is also a bit of a ghost and i haven't read a ton of his comics (and i borrowed them from the library so idek which ones ive even read rip), but its been like idk eight years since i watched tws and i can still very clearly see that bit in the first big fight where hes murder walking towards the camera inspiring fearousal in all who witness him and im STILL like "gender"

standard pokemon battle facilities ranked on aesthetics and theming

x. Academy Ace Tournament (Paldea) - This one doesn't really even count? It doesn't match your party to one level, take place in a unique location, or give battle points. It's cool to battle the teachers but other than that it's not really anything. Really hoping to get something in the DLC

6. Battle Maison (Kalos, ORAS) - I had to look up the name of this one because I always get it mixed with the battle chateau. anyway it's not interesting at all it just does the standard X&Y philosophy of "if we make it look fancy enough then it's cool right?" And it isn't.

5. Battle Tower (Johto, RSE, Sinnoh) - Why is it a tower even? Like I guess it's cool and imposing from outside but all you do is go up an elevator, fight in one room, and go back down. I guess to give the impression that a lot of people are battling in different rooms? But you don't really see it. as a side note, the lobby in Platinum looks really good.

4. Battle Tower (Galar) - This one is a cut above the other towers just because it actually makes sense that it's a tower. Yes, it's reused from the story, but battling on an elevator that rises through the floors of the tower is just sick as hell every time.

3. Battle Tree (Alola) - I don't really have anything to say about this one it's just GOOD. Going up and around a giant tree gives a satisfying sense of progression. It kinda reminds me of Mt. Battle oh god I forgot to put mt battle on this list oh god uhhhhh

2.5 Mt. Battle and the Colosseums (Orre) - My bad guys I kinda forgot about these games but actually they look GREAT. I love how Mt. Battle leads you over a valley, alongside the mountain, THROUGH the mountain, and high up into the sky. It's a lot of battles to get through but this is based on AESTHETICS and even if its kind of a slog it looks AMAZING. I'm not gonna rank the colosseums separately but they deserve a mention and they all look great.

2. Battle Subway - PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK. Like the theming of a subway in the New York themed region is already just chef's kiss, but moving through each train car, progressing as the train runs through the tracks and the passengers take a seat after you defeat them... sublime.

1. PWT - PEAKER PEAKER PEAKER PEAKER. God OK it's just a stage with two walkups if you wanna get super technical BUT LIKE. the roar of the crowd as you approach the stage. the rematches against all the gym leaders. THE BATTLE MUSIC IN THE FINALS. you can't beat it you just can't. stan b2w2
