Popular, a cheerleader, first time senior and Chrissy’s best friend. But she has a secret that only her best friend knows. She’s had a crush on Eddie Munson since middle school. She’s afraid to tell him, thinking there’s no way he’d be into her. Until one day in the cafeteria, Jason Carver calls Eddie a freak. She confronts him, and punches him in the face, breaking or spraining her hand/wrist. Guess her little secret is out, and she may never be popular again.
ok i have a vivid image in my head and let's see if i can translate it hehe
Tumblr media
You tapped the toe of your pristine white sneaker on the linoleum, waiting. Just waiting. Principal Higgins was still talking to Jason, trying to get his side of the story, and you knew that he would certainly listen to Jason over you. You had basically broken Jason's nose, the star of Hawkins High— you didn't feel as if many people would be on your side.
But then, someone appeared in the doorway. You scoffed; "Save it, Munson."
"Easy," Eddie said carefully. He looked a little disheveled, definitely your fault. After you had punched Jason, the lunchroom had basically exploded, and Eddie had hauled you away from Jason with strong arms around your waist. You could remember him saying something about "He's not worth it", but your adrenaline was still running then, and you could hardly remember the moment. "Just making sure you're okay."
You grimaced, looking down to where you were nursing your wrist against your chest. It throbbed like crazy and hurt like nothing else; it hurt worse than that time when your basket didn't catch you after a toss and you went careening towards the floor. You were sure that your wrist was sprained, maybe even worse, and you let fat tears slide down your nose. There goes your senior year cheer season.
"Aw, jeez," Eddie mumbled. "It hurts that bad? I'm sorry, I-I feel like a piece of shit—"
"It's not that," you whimpered, wiping up your tears. "I'm upset because I won't be able to cheer with my wrist like this. I can't throw any tricks, I can't even be on the bottom of the pyramid. I'll have to sit out the entire season!"
Eddie carefully sat down next to you, the leather of his own pristine white sneakers squeaking as he flexed his foot. "Even though you didn't need to," he started. "Thank you for defending me. It means a lot that someone would stand up for me, especially you."
"What does that mean?" you asked.
"Well," Eddie started. "If Jason is the king of Hawkins, and Chrissy is the queen, you're as good as the princess. And the princess of Hawkins standing up against the king to defend some stupid bard, that takes some guts."
You shrugged. "I've watched Jason and those guys tease you since we were freshman," you mumbled. "I just got sick and tired of it. Pick on somebody your own size, y'know?"
"That's noble," Eddie said. "But... I feel like you aren't being truthful with me."
"Huh?" you asked, wrinkling your nose. "How?"
"Well, you remember last year, how we had algebra together?" Eddie asked. "You were placed in the senior-level class, and I was there because I failed it the first time, and I sat behind you. Well, umm... You kinda helped me pass that class, but that's irrelevant, I guess... But I—"
"I knew it!" you exclaimed with a smile. "You cheated off of me!"
"Cheated is a strong word," Eddie said. "I looked at your paper to get an idea of what I was supposed to do. But whatever, doesn't matter, I was looking at your notes one day in class and I saw that you were doodling something, and it was me. And it was perfect, you didn't look back at me once and you had perfectly drawn me."
"So?" you asked. "You're kinda hard to forget."
Eddie looked at you pointedly through his eyelashes, and he sighed. "So, I guess it doesn't matter that I've written songs about you," he said, and your heart jumped in your chest. Had he? What sorta songs? "That I think about you all the time? That, when I was pulling you away from Jason, I almost kissed you?"
You didn't want to hide it anymore. You knew that Chrissy would think you were crazy for liking Eddie— she had told you so, back in freshman year. During a sleepover, she had gotten you to admit your crush on the then-junior Eddie, and she had laughed and said, "Him? He's so weird!" But it didn't matter to you anymore. You liked Eddie, and, after the scene in the lunchroom, you didn't care who knew.
"What kind of songs?" you asked, edging closer to Eddie on the wooden bench.
"Sappy shit," Eddie said. "Not like Motley Crue 'sex and girls' stuff, but good love songs. You ever heard Babe by Styx?" You shook your head, and Eddie tilted his head. "I have the cassette at home, I can bring it to you tomorrow."
"Can you sing it to me?" you asked.
"Now?" Eddie gasped. "Jesus, sweetheart, you're gonna kill me, there are people around!"
"I'm sure you're not that bad of a singer," you rolled your eyes.
Eddie looked around at the small room. There was nobody else there, just a waiting room for Principal Higgins's office, but people were bustling in the hallway outside the room. "I'm not great," Eddie mumbled, reaching over and twisting his fingers nervously in your skirt. "Maybe can I... Um, bring you to my place after school? I can show you the song, and-and play you some that I've written."
"I'd like that," you grinned, and, as the door to the office opened, you leaned over and kissed Eddie's cheek. He immediately went beet red, and his hand drifted up to lovingly touch where your lips had been as he watched you stand and enter the office. "See ya then, Eddie!"

The past month and so this bird man has been on my mind. And I need new anime husbandos to write for!
PLEASE DON'T PLAGARIZE STEAL COPY TRANSLATE AND OR REPOST MY FANFIC CONTENT. Rather reblog like and follow please and thnx u.
Tumblr media
Another day in Kyushu.
Another busy patrol.
All to attain his long-term goal of heroes having too much free time on their hands.
Worn out, scuffed here and there, and gliding slowly above his hometown, the #2 hero Hawks was heading back to his favorite spot in the city.
A conversation from earlier surfaced in his mind.
“No villain stands a chance against you, Hawks!” One of his sidekicks ego boosted him.
“And no hero for that matter.” His other sidekick remarked.
Hawks chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “Endeavor would disagree on that last one. Even the fastest hero alive can't handle the flames so well.”
“And does the fastest youngest hero alive have their eyes set on anyone lately~?”
“I've got my whole life before this young bird settles down in the nest.” That was his ending remark before saluting off to his crew and flying on outta there.
“Still …” He murmured to himself as he took a certain familiar route through the air. “I've already got my sights set on a particular birdie~”
A precious light amongst the seas of blurred smudges.
Saving you on more than one occasion.
Just a regular quirkless person.
Coincidence turned into a kinda sorta reason.
Spotting you between patrols and breaks.
An instant curiosity turned to intrigue.
Walking with you, talking with you about anything besides hero work, getting some fried chicken together.
This new constant of his day-to-day life as the #2 hero of Japan became the one constant he wished to keep hidden from the rest of the world.
One minute you're the breath of fresh air that he gladly partakes in. The next thing he knows, seeing you waving at him one day had his stoic face burning up at how much his heart was racing.
Your genuine gaze, your comforting scent, your infectious laughter —
Razor sharp vision spotted your apartment a mile away as he arrived at the more tranquil suburbs set against the rowdy cityscape.
He could immediately visualize you reading something curled up on your fuzzy soft rug in your bedroom, laying on your tummy as your bare legs crisscrossed in the air, your balcony door cracked open to let in the fresh air.
“All too easy.” He snickered as he sent several of his small feathers to zoom in through the opening.
Your recognition of the tough supple fuzziness that is his feathers stroking your bare soles had you rubbing away those tingling touches only to giggle absentmindedly as those feathers split up to stroke your heels, your topsides, and your arches.
Viewing your smile growing and picking up your melodious giggles through the sound vibrations in the air his feathers received had him relishing in his newfound hobby on top of winding down with you.
“Beautiful, inside and out.”
Your concentration on reading crumbled as you squeaked from those feathers wiggling against your toes, having you roll over and pull your legs to your chest, rubbing your feet together as your narrowed gaze homed in on those feathers floating back to the big bird man perched outside.
“Hey birdy!” Hawks' cheery face and tone had you at a loss between glee and frustration. “I've missed ya!” He was met with a pillow thrown at his face, taking the plush smack, catching it right after. “I take it the feeling’s not mutual?”
“It's been a week.” You stood up and brushed out your wrinkled attire as he hopped down from his perch on the railing before you, his ruffled feathers straightening themselves out. “And the first thing you do is a sneak attack!”
“Well, performing my heroic duties comes first, of course. Didn't stop me from thinking about you, though.” His flattery could only get him so far out of the doghouse, tossing the pillow aside. “And your lovely voice.”
“Can't see why though – EEK~!” The feather tickling your neck had you squealing and smacking your skin for not catching said feather as Hawks snorted in his gloved hand, smirking his ass off.
“Well cause I like everything about you … and you being ticklish is just a bonus.” He laughed as you playfully smacked his arm. “This is the thanks I get for saving you all those times?”
“Yeah, thanks a lot. I owe you my life.” Your sarcastic remark trails off when his tough supple wings draped around you, pulling you flush against him as his pouting lips and downtrodden eyes made you sigh in exasperated admittance. “Okay okay.”
Grabbing both sides of his fluffy collar, you pulled Hawks down enough for you to gently peck his lips. “Seriously … thank you.”
He blushed bright as a rose, grinning all dopey like. He cupped and brushed your cheeks as he returned the kiss tenderly, murmuring between breaks. “How lucky am I to have a gem like you in my life?”
“Flattery will only get you so far, #2.” Your airy remark was short lived as his golden-brown eyes gleamed with mirth.
“And your teasing will just keep getting you this~!”
His wings scribbled against your backside, causing a stream of squeals to come out, sounding so melodious to his own ears.
“No fair!” Your frantic pushing against his chest only drove him to have his feathers strike your nape. “Stahahap!” You felt your feet slip over your forgotten book, leaving it up to Hawks’ quick reflexes to keep you standing as his arms and wings protectively wrapped you up in his fuzzy cocoon, increasing the tingling sensations rubbing every inch of you. “Hahahahahawks!”
“So sensitive.” His faint stubble brushed the side of your neck, grinning against your skin as you squeaked louder. “So squishy~” He swooned, his arms flexing as he squeezed your waistline, wiggling his fingers into your sides plus squeezing them for good measure. “So squeamish!”
“I hahahate you – AAH~!” Him lifting you by your thighs had your arms and legs instinctively hugging his neck and waist.
“That's not what I see here, beautiful~” His smug smirk made you hide your flushed whining face in his neck, feeling the rumbling of his laughter seep through you. “But okay, I'll stop with the tickles … if you help me strip~”
“God you tease.” Your complaint was betrayed by your heartfelt emotion. Gingerly taking off his visor, his amused affectionate eyes watched as you also took off his headphones with slow tepid care, keeping you steady with his hands pressed to you tight.
“Ya know … you can call me by my real name … if you want to, that is.” He mused as he plopped down on your bed and helped you take off his jacket. “Seems only fair since I always call you by yours.” He pried his gloves off with his teeth, tempting you with his actions. “I wanna hear my name coming off your lips~” He purred.
Tenderly setting his removed items down on your nightstand table, you cupped his own cheeks just so you could look him straight in those golden-brown hues. “Keigo.” His eyes lite up right away. “K … Kei.” He audibly gulped as rose red tinted from his ears to his neck for indeed his blushing face spoke volumes of how overjoyed he was. “Can I call you that? Kei?”
He cheekily grinned. “Anything for you, angel.”
You peppered kisses all over his own giggling face. Prying his boots off with help from the heels, Keigo delicately pushed you to lie down on your back, legs intertwined, as some of his feathers tugged the balcony slide door closed before returning to his wings draping you both in their cozy protective warmth.
“I really did miss you, baby bird.”
He froze up as the sounds of sniffles reached his ears. The sight of tears making your e/c eyes shimmer like jewels are as mesmerizing as they are heart wrenching.
“I missed you too, Kei. So much.” His butterfly kisses to your eyes and cheeks were his way to cheer you up and show you just how much he cares for you, smiling as his stubble tickled your sensitive face enough to make you giggle and smile yourself.
“This optimistic guy is just glad to finally be home with his beauty again.” He sighed deeply as you brushed through his unruly messy hair, relaxing and leaning in to your heavenly touch.
Lulled by your caresses, he felt himself falling asleep, whispering as his droopy eyes turned to you.
“Y/n, thank you.” His lazy kiss gets returned by you, having his tired smile still radiating endearment as you both pulled away. “For coming into my life. Letting me be myself around you. Just … everything.”
“I feel the same way, Kei.” You confess as you too felt the embrace of sleep taking you in, using his chest as a pillow, slacking as having him back in your arms made it that much easier to settle down and unwind, straight to sleepy town. “I love you.”
Keigo's heart beats right outta his chest at that confession, admiring your sweet sleeping self, giving your forehead a kiss, curling into you, lulled by your soft breathing as it became his favorite lullaby. “I love you too.”
His wings settled back, pulling away to rest behind him as Keigo pulled you two to lay on your sides, still enraptured in each other, as nighttime swept throughout Kyushu.
For their winged protector took a nice long rest.
With you, his beautiful partner, safe and sound in his arms.

So do you have a spoiler free review of the Spider-Man 2 game, for people like me who haven’t bought/seen the game yet? (I lack money so I have to wait for Christmas lol)
I can give you my top-down thoughts yeah!
Gameplay-wise, it's a night and day improvement over the first game in basically every regard. I've heard some mixed opinions on the new gadget/abilities system, and I had my own hang-ups here and there, but once I got a feel for it and started actively looking for ways to cleverly use them and upgrade them it really clicked. The flow of combat is amazing. The swinging mechanics are a MONUMENTAL improvement over Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales. Those games had fantastic swinging, don't get me wrong, but they always had the issue of having a pretty intense speed cap and a disappointingly small amount of maneuvers to play with and master. This game introduces not only the web wings, which add a whole extra dimension of traversal to play with, but also still manages to improve the swinging itself more than I ever expected. Tight cornering, loop-de-loops, slingshots, and more are ALL introduced and work amazingly. And on top of it all, the speed cap for traversal is a 3X INCREASE when fully upgraded. And you feel it IMMEDIATELY, because even the baseline speed is so much faster from the jump. The game just plays beautifully in every regard, easily worth the price of entry for that alone.
Story-wise, I've mentioned I have some hangups about the pacing that I'm still working out. I just started a second story playthrough so I'm giving it time before I form any "final" thoughts, but my gut experience was that the first Act comes out the gate firing on all cylinders. The characters feel so alive, the world is breathtaking, and there's a ton of intrigue. But then once you hit Act 2 and 3 things speed up in a way that can feel a bit unnatural. One thing that helps this though is making sure to pace out your playthrough with side missions. It doesn't fix the pacing entirely, but there are so many side missions in this game that honestly feel just as integral and worth doing as the main story. I would say definitely try to do as much as you can to pace out Act 2 a little more with side content, cause much like Miles Morales this feels like the kind of game that lives and dies by its side stories. The secondary cast is incredible, and there's a ton of easter eggs and emotional beats that are integral to the overall picture of this game but just aren't in the main stuff. But the beats that hit in the main story hit REALLY HARD. The game definitely has the common sequel problem of shooting for a lot more and as a result kinda ends up a lot messier. The first game is still more of a quintessentially good Spider-Man tale than this one. But that is NOT to disparage this one at all. It is WORTH experiencing, for sure, I just think maybe it could have used some more polish. But there are a ton of moving parts, so I can totally see how they ended up with what they did.
I have a lot of other thoughts but those are sorta the big two pillars I can easily discuss without encroaching on spoiler territory and without writing basically a whole article.

Stay away from him.
So like, octopi eat shrimp, right? And morays have a symbiotic relationship with a certain species of shrimp, RIGHT? So please consider. The tweels constantly thinking Azul's gonna hurt their "precious little shrimpy" in some way and being super over protective of them :) (btw this is definitely one of the more tame yandere fics I've written)
And oh my goodness I'm running out of Octavinelle gifs to use.
Warning(s): male reader, over-protectiveness, some minor injuries
Tumblr media
You didn't exactly want to be sorted into Octavinelle, but hey, it is what it is.
Your family owns a cafe back home, so working at the on-campus cafe your dorm ran was a cinch, easy, no problem at all!
You earned the title of 'employee of the month' (whatever that means) in only your first month of being a student of Night Raven College. Nice.
Thanks to your... impressive achievement, you caught the eyes of two people. Octavinelle's Vice Housewarden and his twin brother.
You didn't want to get tangled up with them in any way... but, it happened regardless.
"Hey, Shrimpy, wanna sit with Jade and I during lunch~?" Floyd playfully asked you. "It'll be fun!"
"No, I was actually thinking-" But before you could finish your sentence, Floyd had grabbed your hand and was already dragging you to the cafeteria with him.
You didn't get to get your own food, but Jade and Floyd shared theirs with you.
"Here, have some of my takoyaki, Shrimpy!"
"Would you like some of my carpaccio? I don't mind sharing with you."
You don't exactly like the taste of octopus, but you appreciate them giving you food.
"Hello Jade, Floyd..." Azul sat down opposite to you. "...and (Y/N). Why is he here?"
"Because he's a tiny little shrimp who needs protection!" Floyd wrapped his arms around you, causing you to choke a bit.
"We've decided to protect him. Of course, in return for certain things..." Jade added, causing you to feel, well, uncomfortable to say the least.
"...ok. Well, (Y/N), I can tell you're..." Azul sorta trailed off, either not knowing what to say or not wanting to say it. "But the three of us have some important things regarding our business we need to discuss, and I would appreciate it if you could leave."
"I'm ok with that." You said, standing up.
But then, both of your arms were grabbed by the twins.
"No, (Y/N) can listen." Jade insisted. "He's a model employee, I'm sure it's fine if he listens in on our business plans."
"Yeah... why're you trying to separate him from us, Azul?" Floyd asked. "It's almost like you want to get him alone so you can catch him by surprise and hurt him."
"What?! No, obviously not!" Azul yelled.
"Well I don't believe you!" Floyd yelled back. They were causing a scene... you'd really rather not be in this situation right now.
"I don't either." Jade calmly added. "Now, Azul, let's discuss our business."
Unfortunately. This is how the rest of your week would go as well.
Those weird twins were very protective of you.
And, they would come to you with problems like injuries and... well, mostly just injuries. Bad ones too.
For example: one night, Floyd entered your room, covered in bite marks, scratch marks, and other various injuries.
"What the hell happened to you?!" You yelled at him.
"Jade and I had a fight." He rolled his eyes. "I'm really huuuuuuuuurt, Shrimpy!"
"Yeah, no shit, Floyd!" You exclaimed. "W-wait here, I'll be right back."
After half an hour or so, you came back with some disinfectant and bandages you bought from the school store.
After everything was all said and done, Floyd laughed at your choice in bandages.
"What?" You asked.
"Nothing, just lookin' at these cute little sea creature bandages ya got." He smirked. "They're kinda funny looking!" He giggled at the silly little fish illustrations.
"Oh, yeah, I saw 'em at Sam's shop and I just had to buy them!" You explained. "You can keep the box of them, if you want. I-I don't think I'll use them very much..."
"Eh, I don't see why not. Sure, I'll take your silly little bandages!"
Things like this kept happening. Whenever the two of them had bad things happen, they'd immediately go to you for help. Your classmates and others view of you changed significantly when they saw the fucking Leech brothers following you around like baby ducks.
It was very off-putting to everyone else.
You, Floyd, and Jade had (what they described as) a symbiotic relationship. You took care of them and they took care of you.
One time you were sick with a really bad fever, and Jade took care of you! He got you tea, soup, a cold towel for your forehead, he even put on a movie for you on one of those old portable DVD players because you couldn't get out of bed.
One time you fell down the stairs, and you got a bad scrape on your knee. Nothing serious, but it definitely hurt. When Floyd noticed your scrape, he gave you one of the sea creature bandages you gave him a few days ago. Specifically, it was one with a moray eel on it (you're almost 100% sure he gave you that one on purpose.)
They also really didn't want you to be anywhere near Azul.
They'd do everything in their power to keep you as far away from Azul as possible. The only time you saw Azul without the twins supervising you was board game club meetings. But even then, Azul avoided you. So during board game club you kinda just sat by yourself in the corner, browsing your phone.
One time, you tried to make a deal with Azul, but he declined! He, Azul Ashengrotto, known for pushing deals to people and pressuring them into contracts, declined to make a deal with you!
One night, as you were watching a movie with Floyd, he said something to you.
"Listen, Shrimpy... we need to talk." He began. "You should really try to stay away from Azul. He's dangerous."
What you didn't know was that Jade was having a very similar conversation with Azul.
"We want you to stay away from him, Azul." Jade said. "I'm sure you know how Floyd and I feel about (Y/N), and I'm sure you know he can barely defend himself... so please stay away from him from now on."
You didn't know why Floyd was telling you to avoid Azul, he's harmless! And, even though he can be kinda cruel with his contracts, he's usually really nice.
"Floyd, he's our Housewarden! He's kinda hard to avoid because of that..." You mentioned.
"So? Just try to avoid him as best as you can. You don't have to perfectly avoid him, since most of the time Jade and I will be around to keep ya safe... you just have to be extra careful when we aren't around, kay~?"
"N-no? That's insane, I'll be fine!" You responded.
"Hm... well, I won't force you to do anything. I just want you to stay safe, 'cause Azul's a dangerous guy!" Floyd gave you a very tight hug. "You should stay away from him."
Jade had his magic pen pressed against Azul's throat like a knife, though it was just a bit more threatening since, with the magic pen, Jade could burn Azul to a crisp in two seconds.
"You know Floyd and I appreciate your friendship... I would hate to hurt you, I truly would... but if you hurt (Y/N), you will force my hand." Jade backed off slightly. "Please don't hurt him in any way. If you do, you know what will happen. I will know what you did. Floyd and I will both know what you did to our little darling (Y/N). So please... stay away from him."

Consider this a date
Tumblr media
Day Twenty-four of Writemas
If you want to see the scheduled posts go here If you want to see more posts like this go here TW: None? Let me know if I've missed any!
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡
Kate rarely got into her neighbors' affairs in her apartment complex, that was until she saw you replace the louder and frankly annoying woman who shared the right walls of her apartment. She adored that you were a quiet homebody, and you were her type.
She loved when you would check on her when you hadn't seen each other in a few days. Often you'd carry over some baked sweets or food that, sometimes after a seemingly endless workweek, was the only thing she ate before collapsing in bed.
Kate spent almost all of her day off doing laundry and chores as she usually did before sitting down to watch mindless TV or read. That was until a knock at her door made her break her concentration on flicking between the channels.
She opened the door to see you with some food in hand and a small anxious expression that made her more confused than anything.
"Here, I made this for you... and I was wondering if I could use your shower? I have a date, and the maintenance people still haven't fixed mine," you asked as she took the small glass dish that was still warm from you.
"Yea, no problem," Kate said immediately as she moved to let you into her apartment. "A date? Are you excited? You seem... nervous," Kate asked as she moved to put the dish on the kitchen island before she turned to look back at you.
"Last time they weren't the best. I mean, she was a little pushy, and I only agreed because she asked me, and I didn't know how to say no because she was lonely," you rambled quickly before Kate shot you an almost skeptical look.
"You agreed to go back out on a date you didn't want to go on with a girl you don't like because she said she was lonely, and you can't say no," Kate said, almost reiterating it so you could hear how insane she felt it was.
"Well, when you put it like that, it sounds bad, but she was kinda sorta nice... I guess," you added quickly with a small sigh. "I would feel bad flaking on her when it's a few hours away," you mumbled almost to yourself.
Kate raised an eyebrow, an amused smile playing on her lips. "So, you're going on a date out of sympathy? That's a new one."
You laughed nervously, scratching the back of your head. "Yeah, well, I didn't want to be rude."
Kate shook her head, still smiling. "You're too kind for your own good. But hey, if you're not feeling it, you don't owe anyone your time. Just be honest with her."
You nodded, grateful for Kate's straightforward advice. "You're right. I'll figure it out. Thanks for the food and, you know, letting me invade your shower space."
"Anytime," Kate said, gesturing toward the bathroom. "Go freshen up, and good luck on your 'sympathy' date. Hopefully, she's a better match this time."
As you headed to the bathroom, Kate couldn't help but chuckle to herself. The things you did for the sake of politeness and kindness, even if it meant enduring potentially awkward dates. She hoped you'd find someone who matched your warmth and sincerity, Kate almost wished she could convince you out of it, or even ask you herself.
As you emerged from the bathroom, looking slightly more composed and less like someone about to embark on a questionable date, Kate couldn't resist a teasing grin. "You clean up well. If she doesn't appreciate the effort, it's her loss."
You chuckled, appreciating Kate's attempt to lighten the mood. "Thanks, Kate. I owe you one for this."
"Just consider it payment for the times you've rescued me from those awkward small talks with our other neighbor," she quipped, making you laugh.
With a grateful smile, you nodded. "Deal. I'll let you know how it goes."
As you headed out, Kate couldn't help but feel a mix of curiosity and a slight tinge of worry for your date. She returned to her chores, occasionally glancing at the clock and wondering how your evening was unfolding.
Meanwhile, you navigated through the date with the grace of someone who had learned to be polite even in less-than-ideal situations. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise, and your date, though not entirely your cup of tea, was just as terrible as the last. She vented endlessly about her Ex that she was still struggling to get over and her endless relationship expectations. You nodded and forced a smile before you secretly texted Kate's number she had given you so she could text you to take of her plants when she was away for longer than expected, 'any way I can get you to save me from this terrible date?'
Kate's response came swiftly, and her sense of humor shone through: Consider it a rescue mission in progress. I'll call you in a few minutes pretending to be an emergency that needs your immediate attention. Be ready.
Relieved, you endured a few more minutes of your date's endless saga before your phone rang. You apologized and excused yourself, citing a work emergency. As you answered the call with a look of feigned concern, Kate's voice came through with practiced urgency.
"Hey, it's Kate from the building management. We've got an issue with the water pipes in your apartment. Could you come back urgently? We need your help to sort this out."
You feigned shock and apologized to your date, explaining the situation. Grateful for the lifeline, you excused yourself and rushed out, leaving the melodrama behind.
Once you were safely away from the restaurant, you called Kate to express your gratitude. She couldn't help but chuckle. "You owe me big time for this one. But hey, at least you're free now." "Did you maybe want to.." You asked before you felt your heart race, just as Kate was about to answer you cut her off, "Actually that was stupid you're probably busy."
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Kate's voice came through, warm and reassuring. "I was going to say, did you maybe want to grab some takeout and binge-watch terrible movies together? My treat. Consider it a post-date recovery plan."
A wave of relief washed over you, and a genuine smile spread across your face. "That sounds perfect, Kate. Thanks for being my emergency exit tonight."
"No problem. You can owe me by enduring a marathon of cheesy romantic comedies and considering this a date," Kate replied, her tone light and teasing.
The mention of a date in such a casual and teasing manner caught your attention. You chuckled, realizing that perhaps the best dates were the unplanned, easygoing ones.
"Sure thing, Kate. Consider it a date, then. I owe you for saving me from that disaster," you said, and you could almost hear the smirk in Kate's voice.
"Great! Get ready for the cheesiest, most cringe-worthy rom-coms I can find. It's payback time," Kate declared with a playful enthusiasm.

The Matchmakers (2023)- Review
A funny, smart youth fusion sageuk? Rowoon- whom I swear to god I would not have been able to pick out of a lineup of idol actors 2 weeks ago-  making me CRY in the year of our Lord 2024???? You could knock me over with a feather right now.
Writer Ha Soo-jin and PDs Hwang Seung-gi and Kim Soo-jin did not drop the ball even once over 16 episodes- a true feat in kdrama land. More than the actors, it was the impressive lock-step of the creative/production team that got me in this one. I'm trying to put into words the oddness of it after: apparently I can be persuaded to buy a product (heterosexual romance kdrama version) that I would usually avoid, as long as it crosses a threshold of custom-made-for-me features.  I know I've been had, but it's done with such sly charm and madcap energy that I'm not even the least bit angry about it.
This isn't to say that the drama isn't thoughtful: it is, very much. In an era when falling birthrates and fascism are making governments across the world decide that women have probably had too much freedom and are actively enacting policies that violate women's fundamental rights over their personhood, The Matchmakers is a tongue-in-cheek response that's deadly serious about its fundamental idea: that women are individuals who will and should act to preserve the sanctity of that gift of life.
At the start of the series, its main antagonist- Park Ji young in an arresting role and performance- says "If a Nation is a tree with deep roots, then those roots are its WOMEN." Of course, this is a delightful statement on many levels- starting with the sheer brazenness with which the joke that sends up one of the most acclaimed and beloved sageuks is made; it also situates the character in opposition with the morality of Confucian-era Joseon of the series where women were to be kinda, sorta seen and definitely not heard etc. and makes us instantly- in our post-feminist complacence- sympathetic to her. But wait: as the series unravels its many, many, many threads, we begin to see the sleight of hand. For this Strong Woman Character ™  is, after all, preaching an old and well-worn moral code: for the woman, The Family is Everything. Unless you’ve been under a rock for a few years, it might have come to your notice that this Idea ™ is being repackaged and tik-tokified up as neo-conservatism and fascism gains ground once more in our feral capitalist hellscape. The show is full of women who've had to or are making choices for the Family (survival, honour, future)- at the cost of their own happiness and identities because that is their Fate. Even Madam Park, widely acknowledged as the most brilliant mind in Joseon- is not exempt from this; taking- limited- control of a system designed to grind you down doesn’t mean freedom, only fear and eternal vigilance. For me, it was the perfect choice and characterization of the villain that set this show apart from the others of its genre- that told me that it had something to say after all.
That said, I don’t think The Matchmakers is particularly radical or subversive- here’s where the perfect commodification of kdrama and the show’s chosen genre blunts it-terrible things happen in families and to women in particular, yes, but we’re never allowed to contemplate those things too long; we’re being distracted by the next flourish in the shenanigans-filled plot. Heterosexual marriage is reconfigured but never seriously rejected; queer people exist but are not happy. Perhaps it takes a Jeong Seo Kyung (Little Women, 2022) or Lim Dae-hyung/ Jeon Go-woon (LTNS, 2024) to smash that particular barrier- but in its defense, The Matchmakers does what all love stories  set out to do and does it well- which is to reaffirm our belief in Love as the ultimate liberation; both the weapon and balm of our fragile lives. And it does, very firmly, plant its feet on the side of liberating the women who each find their courage to reassert their selves as the most necessary and valuable possession in a society which only sees value in their uteruses.
Tl; dr: watch it for its delightful women, its Wodehouse-ian shenanigans in regency romance/sageuk aesthetic, its quietly moving love story about letting love and life surprise you over and over again, and yeah, I guess you should also watch it for Rowoon being a “disgruntled pelican” as correctly described by @elderflowergin.

HAPPY WHOLESOME SONIC AND TAILS WEDNESDAY BABEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
It's been like a million years since I've actually been able to post a fic for Wednesday, but I've got one!! I've finally got one!!
HERE YA GO, GUYS!!!
---------------
"Girl Talk"
(this takes place in the Sonic Boom universe, after the episode "Cowbot")
It had only been yesterday when Sonic and Tails had found themselves spending a day and a half over at their lair of their supposed arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman, to help him repair his defenses. Sonic still wasn't sure why they'd bothered helping the guy, considering he was always trying to destroy him and his pals.
Well, he supposed that was a hero's duty. Help everyone. Even if they didn't deserve it at all.
Beyond the fact that they were helping their enemy, probably the thing that had caught Sonic the most off guard was Eggman's completely unexpected question at the campfire.
"What's up with you and Amy?"
He'd had absolutely no idea how to respond to that. In fact, he'd never responded. He'd just made some lame attempt to change the subject, though he no longer remembered what he'd said to do so.
What was even more nerve-wracking? Tails had looked just as interested to hear the answer.
Sonic stared at the ceiling of his shack as he reclined uneasily in his hammock. Pfffft, he had no reason to get so flustered over such a silly question. He was Sonic the Hedgehog! He feared nothing! He especially didn't fear something as simple as love, and attachment, and relationships . . . ? Right?!
"Why do you look like you just got back from Meh Burger?" a familiar voice called teasingly, and he jolted upwards, almost toppling off the hammock.
Tails was walking through his empty doorframe, a gleam in his bright blue eyes and his twin tails waving up and down behind him.
"It's nothing!" Sonic protested, standing up and stretching, overall trying to act as casual and relaxed as possible. "Just thinking."
"About whaaat?" The tone couldn't get any more teasing. "About who?"
"I don't know what you mean," he tried to bluff, but the little fox's eyes glinted at him knowingly.
Sonic sighed heavily.
His little brother knew him far too well.
"Fine, fine, fine." Sonic waved a hand, then glanced around nervously. "Can we just take this somewhere more . . . private?"
"We can go to my lab?" Without waiting for an answer, Tails turned and helicoptered away back towards his workshop. Sonic took off after him, reaching the place at least five seconds before his brother did.
"So . . . what is up with you and Amy?" Tails asked once the door was closed and the windows were locked, quite clearly repeating Eggman's words.
"Amy's just a really good friend!" Sonic tried to protest. "Yeah, yeah, she's got a thing for me, but that doesn't mean I reciprocate!"
Tails shot him a look. "So you know she likes you, and yet you don't discourage her, you hang out with her alone, you're always making jokes and puns around her and waiting for her reaction, and you even go to the movies together?"
"Those are all normal friend activities!" Sonic practically screeched, his voice high-pitched with desperation. "Sure, I like being with her. She's a great person. And she's a great friend. And a cool fighter. And she's strong. And independent. And . . . well . . ."
Sonic trailed off, realizing his argument no longer was making sense, all he'd done was go on a tangent about all the things he liked about Amy, and Tails' smirk was as smug as ever.
But when his brother finally replied, it wasn't as teasing as he'd expected. "She makes you happy, doesn't she? The way Zooey makes me happy?"
"You're not old enough to be giving me advice on girls," Sonic grumbled.
"I'm not the one running from my feelings," Tails pointed out.
Sonic made a frustrated noise.
"Okay fiiine, I guess I do kinda sorta like her. So what?"
"So . . . ?!" Tails bounced up and down a couple times. "You should go ask her out!"
"But I don't actually know what I'm doing when it comes to girls!" Sonic complained. "Yeah, Amy's not the only girl to have ever liked me, but I've never actually had a girlfriend. How are you even supposed to treat them? And doesn't being in a relationship mean getting tied down somewhere and not having freedom anymore? I'm not even sure I want a relationship, Tails."
"That's not what relationships are about," his brother argued. "They're about love, duh. Choosing to love and care for that one person. Finding happiness and contentment in each other's company. Putting their needs before yours, because they're special to you." Tails' blue eyes gleamed. "Isn't Amy special to you?"
"Well, I guess, yeah," Sonic mumbled, kicking at an imaginary rock on the ground. "I just . . . I don't think I'm ready for a girlfriend, at least not yet. Can't I just give it some time?"
Tails snickered. "Of course you can. There's no rush. I just wanted to make sure you understood this stuff."
"This feels backwards." Sonic sighed, but grinned. "Okay. Ya got me, lil bro. But!" He jumped up and grabbed his brother by the wrist. "Everything that was just said is entirely confidential! Got it? No breaking the bro code!"
"I know, I know!" Tails laughed, squirming away as Sonic started playfully poking him all over. "Understood!"

how are things? and I was wondering if you've got a favorite fic that you wrote or if its just too hard to choose?
i've been down with a cold so things are kinda annoying but it seems to be getting better at least so maybe things are looking up :'D thanks for asking!
oh damn. it is hard to choose. and it also depends on my mood, and like... some are faves because they were fun to write, some because i like how the end result turned out, some bc friends liked them, and so forth. it depends on what kind of a favorite we're looking for :3
i scrolled through my RE fics and tried to pick only the top faves and still ended up with thirty fics :'D (and sorta sad bc so many of them were not crowd pleasers lmao)
but! shameless self-recs under the cut! (it got long lol sorry)
we didn't know how to fly so high (burned down before we reached the sky) (Chris/Leon) - this one's special because it's the first RE fic I wrote and it's what ended a three year dry spell of me not writing a single thing. it's also special because back then i could go "OH ONE NOTE!" and post the second chapter lol.
haunting in my head (tempting me, inviting me to fall asleep in its arms) (Piers/Leon) - since I picked the first one, I'm also gonna pick the latest one. this was the kind of an idea that plagued me until I got it written and i'm super pleased with how it worked out!
and it's kind of obligatory for me to mention the self-indulgent series, because for so long it was what kept me going and what kept me writing when nothing else worked. it might not be the best thing i've written but it's for sure what i've poured most love in.
tear me open (and make me whole again) (Piers/Leon, past Krauser/Leon) - from my whumptober fics this one i was the most excited about. i know it's got quite a bit of violence in it but like. i thought it hit all the right notes emotionally too, and i honestly wished it would've done better. i think it's worth it! am still happy with how it turned out.
(honorable mention to haunt you like it's part of you, another Piers/Leon and past Krauser/Leon, which is something i am really really into but apparently it's just me :'D but I really like the way the pairings clearly contrast each other tbh, i just think it's neat)
in the end it's you and I (Piers/Leon) - this is another whumptober fic I was super excited for! i'm beyond pleased with how it turned out and at least I feel all the right emotions while reading it.
all the things you are (Jake/Piers) - honestly I could've picked pretty much any of the Piers/Jake fic I've written because they were all really fun to write and their dynamic is super fun :'D I love the little bits in re6 where they interact bc they get on each other's nerves in all the right ways!
when it comes to metaltango, they're pretty much all close to my heart lol but can't help but follow in spite of going insane is something i regularly think back to and am still happy with how it turned out. same with the Krauser's back series, and question all my doubts, especially.
never too much to ask for (Piers/Leon) - this one is so very very important to me because LEON LEARNS TO BE LOVED. he learns to not only accept comfort but actually ASK FOR IT and it makes me emotional just to think about it 🥺
gonna show you tonight (Piers/Leon) - this one just makes me very happy.
and then there are the Piers/Leon ones where I've inserted Piers into a game/movie he isn't in, and honestly, those are ALL something I've had fun with and love the results! there's re2 with Piers, re4 with Piers, Damnation with Piers, and a combo of re4/Vendetta/og stuff with Piers! also the other re2 with Piers but that one only has one chapter for now so :'D
heal the scars and change the stars (Piers/Leon) - this one was based on a dream I had and I can still remember the exact vibe of the dream, and the way it haunted me afterwards, and I'm honestly really happy with the fic too. I have a thing for breaking up and getting back together it seems :'D
you're a dream (Piers/Leon) - this is something I've always always wanted to write, because soulmate aus are interesting but I've always gravitated towards imperfect soulmate systems, where it takes real effort to find them, and it's not so clear cut. and I honestly love how this turned out.
at the shore of the unknown (Piers/Leon) - another thing i always wanted to do was a soft apocalypse. this was supposed to be the first fic of a series, and the series is probably not happening, but i'm still content with the mood of this fic as is :3 i love these... slow empty worlds.
before I even knew your name (Piers/Leon) - THIS! this was SO MUCH FUN i don't know if I've ever had as much fun writing a fic :'D idk it was such a joy.
i crave therefore i am (Piers/Leon) - this fic however fought me every single step of the way, i wrote it like three times, and hated half of the process lmao, but i do love how it turned out. and the first scene is one of my all time favorite scenes i've ever written in my life.
to feel again (fwb!Chris/Leon at first, Piers/Leon eventually) - this was supposed to be a quick little oneshot but in the end it spiraled into something longer, and I do love it. like. the whole point of the Chris/Leon bit was that neither of them is the bad guy or wrong but they just weren't right for each other at that point in time, and then I enjoyed letting Leon build trust and a new relationship with Piers slowly at his own pace. 10/10 would write again :'D
last chance garage (ot3) - this one was very emotional to write and also got SO out of hand bc it was supposed to be like 1k max and in the end I wrote 8k lol. but it's my favorite ot3 fic.
winter lovin' (there's snow one like you) (Piers/Leon) - this one is super special to me because it happens in Finland :D they're vacationing on my home turf lol. but also because they're so in love, and they get to have fun and be together and. idk. the whole fic makes me all "🥺💖" like i literally turn into a physical embodiment of those two emojis. i love the fic.
stay until the end of life (Piers/Leon) - this one was also very emotional to write and I wanted to put them through a lot, and show how they really are in it for better and for worse. i wanted to show the struggles too, like... they love each other. they wanna be there for each other. but it's not always that easy. and I do think it worked out great.
three words to last forever (Piers/Leon) - I'm gonna end this way too long list with this because it's the first (and so far only) time I wrote a "choose your own ending" story and it was so much fun! I wish I could do a bigger story where you get to make multiple choices, but that would require some serious brainstorming lol. anyhow, I'm happy I got to do this! and happy with it turned out! especially the saddest ending :'D
now I'll shut up with my deepest apologies lmao.

since chuuya was under koyo for a while, do you think he also got the ye olde "flowers thrive in darkness bla bla bla the world of light is meaningless etc". because its...sorta perfect to like, kinda instill the fact that he belongs in the mafia (or the world of "dark") so id imagine hearing the detective from sb saying he wants to bring chuuya to the "world of light" mustve meant a lot to him, only to lose that man moments later because of verlaine (which, interestingly enough, is similar to how koyo lost the man who was going to escape pm with her- to the world of "light")
Anon I love the paralleling here.
You know, I've often wondered what kind of influence Kouyou had on Chuuya. The only thing we know for certain is that she had him sit in on negotiations, and in the main manga, Chuuya is sent to negotiate with the Agency, so suffice to say, he must've learned well from her.
But you know, I think there was never any need for Kouyou to be so explicit about her "flowers that bloom in the dark can only thrive in darkness" belief, mostly because even by Stormbringer with the offer from Murase, Chuuya didn't think he was worthy of such a thing as joining the world of light. I believe much of that had to do with his doubts about his humanity, but even by the end of the story - Who helped Chuuya? Who defended him? It was the Mafia. And Kouyou was there too (ironically looking down on Verlaine's behaviour when... that's almost exactly what she tried to do to Kyouka...). In his mind, these people fought for him, so he stays and protects them. That's just the way Chuuya's mind works.
See, even if nothing was stated directly, undercurrents of a belief like that probably would've been present in her actions and the form her guidance took. There would only be certain types of advice she would give - because those are the only options available for people like them, stuck in the dark and there to stay.
Thing is, both Chuuya and Kouyou have this interesting sense of loyalty where they stay with the Mafia in part because they have something to protect - Chuuya cares for the people within the organization as they are his family, while Kouyou refuses to let the Mafia return to the ways of the old boss and protects Mori specifically for that reason. However, another huge drive behind their loyalty is, I think, simply because they believe they have nowhere else to go.
I also think it's interesting to note that the two act wildly differently only around one specific character who reminds them of themselves in some way - namely Kouyou sees herself in Kyouka and tries to shield her (but not really seeing Kyouka as her own person in that sense and assuming she knows best for her), while Chuuya sees himself uncomfortably in Dazai and is furious about it (so he tries to be everything Dazai isn't, in a sense).
It's interesting because typically Kouyou is very logical and an expert in negotiation (honestly I think she's the only reason Mori gets anything done sometimes... she's like, one of only two functioning executives and the only one to call him out on his bullshit). But when Kyouka is around, she becomes incredibly shortsighted and actually commits a serious faux-pas in negotiation - which is when one becomes unwilling to see other options (think it's called the "fixed pie"... I can't remember). She's trying to save Kyouka but not really - Kouyou is actually trying to save herself, but that endeavour is hopeless, in her mind, so it manifests as this urge to just keep her with her.
And with Chuuya, he's typically quite rational as well. Sure, he prefers to punch his problems whenever possible, but he's no fool. He's also quite surprisingly empathetic - he'll lay a beatdown on anyone but he also really gets people and respects them as human beings - it's a really notable aspect of his character. But Dazai? Dazai makes him lose it. He refuses to consciously empathize with Dazai - precisely because, as I've described in previous posts, they are so similar at their cores that he does understand him - and that's deeply uncomfortable because Chuuya does not want to be like that, or rather, Chuuya does not want to admit that there are sides to him that are like that. He rebuffs Dazai, often quite violently. But then he also worries for him. But then he thinks Dazai can handle himself. I've mentioned this before too but Chuuya's self-concept is deeply screwed up. He's not protective of his foil like Kouyou is with hers - Chuuya does not include himself in his self-appointed duty of protection.
The tragic thing about both of them is they are both people who lost their childhoods and were forced to protect themselves. So, when they are offered the bare minimum of support or safety, they feel as though that is something worth protecting, or even something to feel grateful for.
In many other series, this would likely be a heartwarming thing. In the context of these characters, it's tragic.
They can leave at any time. But unless something significantly changes, they never will.
Anyways, think I kind of derailed a bit from your original ask anon (sorry about that) but yeah I absolutely agree that losing someone immediately after just hearing that they believe in your potential must have been horrible, on top of everything Chuuya was going through already, and I do suspect his trajectory might've been different if Murase had lived, much like Kouyou's would've been drastically different if her and that man had've succeeded in escaping, and how Kyouka's was because of Atsushi.
@originalartblog has a Murase design and some comics with him that are wonderful and make me feel bittersweet emotions; I highly recommend you check them out anon, if you haven't already!

I woke up at 3:45 am with shrine music in my brain so I'm gonna yell a little about totk spoilers below fhhhhh mostly about game things no real plot stuff haha
the intRO :'D that mononoke touch ahhhhh idk why but specifically the scene/shot of link's hearts going down from the wiggly worm demon smoke thing is stuck in my brain/makes me feel emotional
also the whole 'I was gone for a bit and the world looks different but sort of the same/everyone moved on' made me feel a little like the evangelion movie when shinji wakes up and he's still the same gives me feeLINGS not necessarily bad; maybe a little bittersweet? idk
I keep giggling at how GOOFY some of the weapons look when they're fused and the names (like...thick stick stick or something LMAO)
the glee of using a rocket for the first time also I'm building the most basic shit hahah I'm not particularly good/creative at stuff like this
ahhhh I loved how there's still those big stone talus in the game and the first one I come across is disguised as a base for bokoblin
the instantaneous fuck off panic of running into those red arm/hands and panicking because you run out of stamina while running away hahah
speaking of tHE MUSIC OH MY GOD I love the shrine music so much? and the first time when you go to the depths when you're falling the tone shift is so eerie
exploring too far into an area where you're too underleveled and getting one hit killed by something haha
when you leave the sky islands for the first time I was hanging out at the very top and was like...surely they're not saying just to jump off? I thought you were supposed to build something to get down but I sorta just fell off for the heck of it and I was extremely charmed by the fact that they said yes you can jump off and just dive into some random body of water from miles above in the sky and again I love the music for that/when you're first introduced to the sky islands
sky islands fun but it's nice being on the ground hahahfg/having a glider now and not constantly breaking into a sweat at hEIGHTS haha like....I went to the top of the temple and crawled all the way around to the other side of the locked doors lmao but the amount of times I slipped and fell of those tiny ledges
I still love freefalling and using the glider at the last second
running into a tree for the first time HAHA and the ominous tiptoeing after you
also yeah controls feel better now/just had to play more but I still definitely keep pressing the wrong buttons for things
I think once I got off the sky islands and to the ground that was kinda when I got fully invested? like again before actually buying the game and playing it I was kinda like ehhh I'll probably play it some point
also the game reigniting my need for link zelda ganon ot3 content :'D
the fondness of having character designs be 3/4 torso ahahha
PURAH I love her ouTFIT
the little detail of chasing fish and the fish trying to escape actually beached themselves on the shore??
LINK HUMMING WHILE COOKING I've only recognized one song so far (saw someone on reddit say they also heard song of storms and it clicked in my brain so now two haha)
oh! I love the amount of nooks and crannies to explore! like all the wells and caves >:0
ngl didn't end up finishing botw (I absolutely did look up the ending before I played totk HAHA >:'D ) because I ended up exploring the majority of the map/got bored after that and I didn't particularly like how the map felt empty/the same after a while? idk if the same thing will pop up again for me in totk but I do like how there's some new enemies and it feels more lively so far? we'll see
ALSO LMAO fighting bokoblins with a moblin and the moblin just straight picking up a bokoblin and throwing it at me??

Tattoos and Tissues
Fandom: Stranger Things Summary: No Upside Down. Tattoo Artist and Florist AU. Eddie is a tattoo shop owner and all is going swimmingly until a certain familiar face from high school drops in to ask for help with tattoo design but ends up setting off his allergies. But Eddie can't pinpoint why his ex-bully is so... squirmy? CW: Really mild mention of mess? Steve has the kink but it's really only implied. Word Count: 4k Author Note: Heya! I tried to throw some fun kink-related scenario stuff into this fic just for shits and giggles. But also kept it pretty tame, but I've got some ideas for a pt 2 and possibly pt 3 if y'all like this? And those might get spicier. So just let me know if you like this AU or just really sneezy Eddie in general. It was fun to write! Also kinda lowkey maybe sorta snuck in some Autistic Eddie bc hi author is autistic oops. MINORS DNI
It was winter. Blessedly crisp and cold, and even if Eddie hated being cold, he liked winter. It was one of the few seasons where he wasn’t the sneezy friend for once in his life. No, with his Munson Constitution, Eddie had an immune system like a damn suit of armor.
Come Spring, Summer, and even Fall? Eddie was bound to sneeze on and off all damn day depending on the pollen count for the various things he was allergic to. The only reason he was usually functional at all was because of getting allergy shots that helped make his itchiness, sneezing, and everything else more manageable. When he couldn’t do that he just had to pop some Benadryl and hope for the best.
Eddie’s chilly fingers were currently wrapped around a coffee mug as he headed into work, greeting Gareth sleepily with a mumble.
“Dude. It’s 11am. You should absolutely be awake by now.” Gareth said incredulously from behind the counter where he was going over the schedule for the day. They’d only just opened. Such was the luxury of owning a tattoo parlor, they could open just before noon, and it was completely normal for them.
Eddie sipped his coffee and waved a ring clad hand at Gareth, shushing him once he’d swallowed. “Shhh… you sound like my uncle when you nag like that.” He complains and has another sip of coffee, leaning over to peek at the schedule. “I got anything early?”
It wasn’t unusual for Eddie to lean into other people’s personal space and Garret just rolled his eyes and shoved him back over the counter. “No. When do you ever? Chrissy always does mornings for you.”
“He’s riiiiight.” Chrissy says with a sing song voice as she comes skipping over to Eddie with a grin on her face. She steals his coffee cup for a sip and Eddie doesn’t even whine as she does so. Just lets her have it.
Eddie wraps an arm around Chrissy’s shoulders and squeezes her gently. “And you’re an angel for it. An angel!” He insists and turns his face away from her to yawn into his arm. “Urgh sorry.”
One of Chrissy’s hands comes up to gently cup Eddie’s face, eyeing the bags under his eyes and how bloodshot they look. “Is it nightmares again?” She asks him quietly to which Garret politely pretends to be busy doing anything but listening in.
With a fake smile, Eddie gently takes her hand off his face and squeezes it reassuringly. “It’s nothing I can’t handle.” He told her quietly and kissed the top of her head. They weren’t together. Had tried it once but Chrissy had broken down and sobbed to Eddie over a bottle of wine that she was a lesbian. Eddie had held her all night, reassured her, promised her that no matter what he loved her and supported her wholeheartedly.
So, they weren’t together, but they were as thick as thieves. Closer than siblings but not together in any romantic or sexual sense. They just knew each other too well. On some deeper level… Chrissy knew shit about Eddie’s past that no one else knew and Eddie, in turn, knew things about Chrissy he’d never breathe a word about…
The door chimed and Chrissy stepped back to look at the person who had come through the doors. “Hi, welcomed to Banished Tattoo, if you’re my eleven thirty you’re pretty early, eager beaver.” She greeted chipperly to which the stranger seemed surprised.
“Uh… no actually. I was looking around at some tattoo places near my new apartment and this place is pretty close. Thought I’d stop by and check out some work. Maybe talk design ideas if I like your stuff?” And the man used a hand to brush his stray bangs that had fallen back up out of his face.
Strangely familiar… He was gorgeous. No really. Utterly and completely heart-stopping. Those soft lips and handsome jaw with that perfect fucking hair, those little moles, fuck  Eddie was smitten already, and the motherfucker hadn’t even agreed to a tattoo yet.
In fact, it didn’t look like he had any tattoos at all… Eddie was somewhat confused but left Chrissy to set him up with their work portfolio booklets full of their best pieces. He took his coffee to his tattooing station on the lower floor.
All of Chrissy’s things were in the loft area up top. She was so short and so liked to feel tall otherwise. A little while later, Eddie became aware of Chrissy’s presence behind him when he was about half way done with his coffee. “Oh no…” He said quietly. “Don’t tell me…”
“He liked your work.” Chrissy said with a grin and grabbed him by one of his curls to pull him out from behind the dividing wall to the waiting area while Eddie hisses “ow ow ow ow ow Chrissy-!”
Once they’re in front of this poor stranger, already subjected to Eddie’s nonsense this early in the morning (at least in Eddie’s opinion), Eddie tucks the strand of hair Chrissy pulled him by back behind his ear.
“Sorry, he’s not a morning person is all.” Chrissy explained, still cheerful as ever. “I’ve got to go prepare for my eleven thirty. You boys have fun brainstorming.” And with that she hurried off back up to the loft.
Eddie wanted to grumble but instead he took a breath, felt a dull tingle in his nose and ignored it, before switching his coffee to his nondominant hand to offer a handshake out to the other man. “Eddie Munson. So, you liked my stuff and wanna design a tattoo?”
The other man takes the offered hand to shake it and nods. “Yeah! I really liked your style and consistency, man. I’m Steve Harrington.” He introduced himself and Eddie could swear the name sounded familiar, but he couldn’t quite place it.
His nose prickled with that itchy sort of tickling sensation again and Eddie rubbed at it with the back of his wrist. “Steve Harrington, huh? Nice to meet ya. Let me grab some things and we can get settled in my tattooing area to design this if you want? There’s a couch in there?” He offered and headed back to his area. Rummaging around a little, Eddie pulled out his sketchbook, pencils, and pens. “So, what’s our tattoo idea?”
Slowly, Steve eased down on the black leather couch while Eddie leaned against the tattooing table, setting his coffee down there. “I’m not totally sure… I babysit these kids and I sort of just promised them if they’re all graduating with A’s then I’ll get a tattoo for them. And well- I’m a man of my word.”
A loud sigh escaped Eddie as he smiled and rubbed a hand over his face. “Oh man… You’re in some shit. Okay, bud. You want something small or big?” He asked casually and felt the tickle spike in intensity for a moment. “Hih… Uh… h-hang on one s-seehhcond…”
Holding up a finger with the hand still holding his pencil, Eddie lifts his opposite arm to prepare to sneeze into his elbow. “EhhhXT’shh! Ugh sorry. S’cuse me.” He shook his head, curls flopping wildly for a moment and sniffed.
“Bless you.” Steve said, blinking a few times and looking like he had to recover for a moment. “Are you okay?”
Eddie waved off his concern with another sniff and a nod. “I’m fine. So, this tattoo. How big or small? Any sort of theme you’re th-hiih-inking about?” He questioned and tapped his pencil against the paper a little, the itch still bothering him.
Poor Steve looked completely out of his element now that they were talking about putting ink on him specifically. “Um… well… I think small might be better for my first-”
“HiiD’TShhuh! Ugh… snff sorry.” Eddie apologized, realizing he’d interrupted Steve again who looked positively flustered.
Maybe flustered was too kind of a word to use. Actually, Steve looked downright embarrassed. He was bright red but even as Eddie went to ask if he was okay, Steve took his turn to cut him off. “It’s fine. Um. What was I saying? Oh! Small! So how small is small really? Like a quarter? Or… like a drink coaster? I dunno…” He threw his hands a little in frustration and Eddie couldn’t help smiling in endearment.
“You h-hhhaave no idea what you w-want do you?” Eddie asked with a smirk and another sniffle punctuating it.
“No fucking idea.” Steve finally admitted with a groan and put his face in his hands.
Eddie laughed a little and felt his breath wheeze in his chest. “Oh shit. That makes s-sense…” He chokes out, his breath threatening to hitch again. “I can h-help you design a tattoo no p-prehh… problem snfff but I need some allergy meds f-fihh first because something is seriously s-setting me off.” He hitches his way through reassuring Steve and goes to dig in his cabinets for some Benadryl.
For a few moments, Steve looks stunned and is apparently too shocked to speak.
“W-Whhhiih…what’s the batter, Stevie?” Eddie asked, his sinuses swelling a little and congestion settling in to turn his m’s to b’s and n’s to d’s. “Dever heard of allergies b-beeh… eehHID’TsHHew! HeiSHEW! Ugh… fuck be…” He plucked a few tissues from the box on the counter to wipe his nose after sneezing into his elbow.
“No, it’s just- shit. I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. Are you allergic to pollen?” Steve asked anxiously and brushed his bangs back out of his face. When Eddie glanced back at him, Steve was still wearing that look like he was beating himself up internally, but he was more concerned than anything else.
Overly so in Eddie’s opinion, but maybe it was because he delt with this on the regular. “I’b allergic to everythi’g, Stevie. Is it a pladt that cad jizz? Thed I’b godda sdeeze add itch add wheeze…” He murmurs and rubs at his nose a little before finally pulling out the godforsaken bottle of Benadryl to down a dose with some water from his water bottle. ”Hiih’tshhuh! Huh… oh by god.”
The way Steve’s expression falls and crumples just about breaks Eddie’s heart. “Shit. Yeah. It’s my fault. I’m a florist. My job is making all the floral arrangements that get put on display or that people order.” He tries to smile softly at Eddie in a reassuring way.
“That bakes- hhii’DTshhuh! Ugh… so buch sedse.” Eddie mumbles, swiping at his nose and rubbing at it in rough circles with the tissue he’s got. His nose itches something fierce and his eyes are starting to get itchy and watery too. God, it makes him want to jump in a steamy hot shower for an hour to rinse the allergens out.
Steve was making to grab his things, looking like he was getting ready to leave. “I’m sorry. I really liked your work but if the allergies are too much I don’t wanna torture you, man…”
Panic rose in Eddie like a snake rearing its head to strike. Something in him didn’t want Steve to leave. He was so damn pretty, held good conversation, and Eddie still can’t place why Steve is familiar. Nope. Something in him tells him Steve can’t leave, not yet.
“D’no!” Eddie said quickly and moved around the tattoo table, knocking the tissue box to the floor in his rush. “Shit- uh d’no uh dod’t go. Seriously, I’b used to this. I- iihhxshhTsh! Fuck. I’b like this all spri’g, subber, add fall. Ask adyode. I cad work through this d’no probleb. I eved keep basks for whed I’b tattooi’g just id case.”
There was a look of uncertainty from Steve as he shifted his weight from foot to foot for a moment, “Your allergies are that bad? Do you get like… allergy shots or whatever? I hear those help.” He picked up the box of tissues off the floor to hand them back to Eddie who took them gratefully.
Eddie nodded when Steve asked if his allergies were that bad, his breath hitching unevenly again while his nostrils twitched. They were starting to get pink and irritated, plucking a few tissues as said nostrils twitched and flared while his breathing stuttered. “Uh-huhh… mmf. Yeah. Get allergy s-shots as ofted as I cad id allergy seasod, but I s-still- Hhxxshuh! Oh by god… sdeeze. Add adyway it’s widter dow. Usually, dothi’g to sdeeze or wheeze about buch udtil I h-hhhave to get the Christbas decoratiods out. Snfff!”
“I’m so sorry, Eddie. Really. If you’re not feeling up to this at all we can reschedule, and I can make sure to shower and wear freshly washed clothes?” Steve offers, still watching Eddie worriedly. There was an almost mom-like quality to how he was beginning to hover and now Eddie could see how he’d likely become the babysitter of some highschoolers.
He sniffled again and pawed at his nose a little, hoping to alleviate the itchiness deep within. “I’b a-aaah-alright really. Just sdeezy. I’b so used to t-this. As lodg as you’re dot freaki’g out. If you’re freaki’g out, by all beads, H-hhhharri’gtod…” He stepped back and made a grand gesture with both hands and bowed as if bowing the king out of court.
Then it clicked. Harrington. King Harrington. From high school. This was one of the preppy jocks from that group that tried to single out his little flock of misfits. He had been set to graduate before Harrington until he was held back twice. “EiiTSHHHuh! HeehDTSHHHEW! Ugh-”
“Woah, big sneeze,” Steve said, sounding impressed and almost cheering him on in a way. “Shit. Sorry. My roommate, Robin, and I have this running joke that’s like that. Every time one of us does something like yawn or burp or… I guess even sneeze and it’s big, we say that.” He chuckles bashfully.
A soft, sort of mushy feeling settles in Eddie’s chest, and he really can’t help himself.  This was surely not the same King Harrington from high school. “Okay, d’no that’s snff snffff ki’d of cute.” He snuffled against his sleeve and his nostrils twitch and flare again, making Eddie’s eyes squint and water as he begged for relief from the tickle. “Ugh.. fucki’g pladt sperb.” He grumbles and wiggles his nose. “Well, if you and your roobbate ever h-have a gabe of who sdeezes the bost coudt be id. Easy wid.”
Once again Steve’s face seemed to just color up such a brilliant shade of red that Eddie couldn’t even begin to describe. It was richer than just cherry or tomato red. “From uh… from what I’m seeing here I don’t doubt that. But you’ve never seen me with a cold.”
And that sounded like a challenge. Eddie was all about a good old fashioned challenge. “Oh yeah snff, Harri’gtod?” His eyelashes fluttered a little and his breathing hitched ever so slightly, a hand coming up to hover in front of his face. “H-hhhold that th-hhhiihh- thought-! Hih-! HiiTSHH! EhhTShhEW! Eheh… eh-? EhhptSHHEW! EhhKTSHHEW! Huh…”
“Holy fuck, big sneezes. Bless you!” Steve says in a soft sort of awe which makes Eddie laugh softly as he plucks some tissues to clean himself up. He clamped his ring covered hand over his mouth and nose and now it was a total mess which he was struggling to clean up.
Blowing his nose would probably help but with someone like Steve right there, Eddie didn’t exactly want to feel that unattractive. So, he settled for snuffling softly behind a tissue. “Thagks.” He mumbles, cringing at how congested he was getting as he pumped some hand sanitizer onto his hands, rubbing them together rapidly. “Alright. Tell be about these rudts of yours-”
The time flew by after Eddie started asking the right questions. Soon they had an intricately designed piece with many things Steve had listed that the kids did, liked, teased and joked about. Even some inside jokes were thrown into the tattoo. It was smallish. About coaster sized so maybe medium for a first piece.
Steve loved it. Adored it even. He was immediately sending pictures to his roommate who was texting back faster than Chrissy even did sometimes. The Benadryl had mostly kicked in and Eddie was still sniffling and sneezing though not as much. And he was still congested as hell.
“Eddie, really, this is… wow. And I get to have this? Like on my body?” Steve said with a smile that could light up even Eddie’s black, charred, dead heart.
Eddie chuckled quietly and sniffled, rubbing at his itchy nose some more with his wrist. “Uh-huh. All yours, big boy. I just get exclusive rights to tattoo it od you sidce I drew it.” He half jokes. It was a bit like… a code of honor. If one artist starts a piece, they should be the one to finish it unless they can’t. “EhhDTSHHEW! Huh… S’cuse be.” He mumbles and sniffled again, grabbing another tissue to wipe his nose which was now painfully red.
A soft smile crossed Steve’s face, “Bless you. You get to tattoo it on me, Eddie. No worries about that. You sure you’re okay? Don’t need me to get uh-?”
“Chrissy.” Eddie supplies his coworker’s name and shakes his head, curls bouncing again. “D’no. I’b fide. Seriously. I dod’t eved have buch od by schedule today. Snff snfff. Just two sballer tattoos add snfff… I’b hhhih… dode. I thigk snff Garret add Chrissy will udersta’d if I wadt to go hobe early add shower thed pass out.” He admits with a returned smile back at Steve, fighting off another tickle by scrubbing at his nose.
Again, Steve seems… uncomfortable somehow. Eddie seriously hopes all this sneezing isn’t majorly putting Steve off because fuck that would be just Eddie’s luck wouldn’t it? Find the perfect guy for once and he’s a total germaphobe. He suddenly has to yank his hoodie collar up to cover his face as the tickle overwhelms him. “IhhEXXTSHHUH! Oh by fugki’g god…”
Something like a sympathetic noise comes from Steve and he plucks a few tissues from the box to offer them to Eddie who takes them gratefully, hurriedly burying his face in them to- “HehhTSHhuh! Sorry for all the sdeezi’g. Snff. I probise I’b dot usually caught so- udprepared?”
“Eddie,” And god Steve’s voice is so soft when he says his name like that. “It’s alright. Seriously. I don’t mind the sneezing one bit.” He tries to insist but Eddie knows better. He likes to think he knows how to read people, it’s a survival skill at this point. Something he’d had to develop over time because Eddie Munson has no natural social skills.
Leave him alone in a room full of people and he’ll meld into the back wall. The only reason he’d been so loud and obnoxious in high school was to draw the attention of the jocks away from his group of misfits and onto himself. To keep them safe.
So, Eddie, being terrible at social skills as he is, rubs at his nose and sniffles some more. “N’do way, dude. I kdow it’s gross. You dod’t h-have to be polite to m’be.” He laughs it off like he can do most anything someone thinks is gross or weird about him. Even if it’s never quite true deep down.
And then Steve is doing that soft look again, like he’s concerned for Eddie in a way that only Chrissy or Garret (though he pretends not to) has ever been before. And well, obviously, his Uncle Wayne but he’s obligated to it doesn’t count.
Steve is opening his mouth to speak again but the tickle is burning through Eddie’s nose again so he hastily holds up a finger again to tell Steve to wait.
“H-hhhhold that t-thought, bi-ihh big boy exxshhtuh! Huh… N’gxxSHUH! Jesus. Whew. Okay, sorry. Codtidue.” Eddie was hastily swiping at his nose with the tissue he’d luckily caught his sneezes into.
There it is again. The discomfort. Eddie had hoped that making light of his predicament might help put Steve at ease, but it only seemed to make things worse. Guilt gnawed at him even if he couldn’t help it.
With a deep breath and what looked like a lot of effort on Steve’s part, the other man found his voice to speak. “You’re not gross, Eddie. Trust me. But I promise for our actual tattooing appointment I will wear extra clean clothes and come freshly showered so you’re not suffering again. Deal?” He extended a hand out with a smile to shake on it.
Eddie sniffled and grabbed Steve’s hand in a firm grip, rings clicking together. “It’s a deal, Harri’gtod. Ehh….EXT’shew! SnFF!” He’d ducked his face away from Steve to sneeze but still felt the other’s grip tighten so much more. “Sorry.” He mumbled and sniffled a little before facing Steve again.
“Don’t worry about it,” Steve says with a chuckle that sounds a little forced even if his hazel eyes are genuine. “I should get going. I’ve gotta take the kids to D&D at the library later tonight but they wanted to hang out after school.”
That perks Eddie up instantly. “D’no shit?” He laughs and smirks. “You ever stick around to watch the sessions?” He asked, already knowing the answer to that. He just hadn’t realized that flock of seniors were the same seniors he DMed for.
With a casual wave of his hand, Steve shook his head and Eddie swore he could see pollen come off Steve’s jacket sleeve when he moved that fast. “Nah. The kids love the game, but D&D was never really my-”
“EuhhTShhuh! Hept’SHuh! EISSHhuh! Fuck- sorry.”
“- thing… Bless you three times, Eddie.”
Eddie tried to make it not as big of a deal this time, but Steve still squirmed, and he wanted to curse himself. This was awful. Embarrassing himself in front of his brand new crush on his former high school bully. Even if Harrington had never really bullied him just… never stopped some of the others from it. Half the jocks picked on him while the other half knew better than to fuck with their dealer.
So, Eddie had always chalked it up to Harrington didn’t want to fuck up his relationship to his weed dealer.
With a sniffle and rubbing his wrist against his nose, Eddie stepped back to nod towards the shop exit. “I wod’t keep you thed, but you should stay add watch a sessiod sobe tibe. Bight chadge your bide od liki’g it… Okay, you better get to those twerps before you’re late.” He teases congestedly and puts on another smile for Steve, lifting his sketchbook. “I’ve got a desigd to idk add prep for you od Tuesday.”
Steve chuckles softly and nods, “Alright, alright.” He checks his watch, and his eyes widen. “Oh shit, it’s nearly two already. Yeah, thank you! So much, Eddie, really! I love it. I’ll see you on Tuesday!” And without much else said, Steve left his tattooing room in a rush while Eddie sniffled.
“See ya,” Eddie said with a wave.
It wasn’t maybe a minute later that Chrissy came rushing into his tattooing area with a wild grin on her face. “Eddie! It went well?!” But her face fell as she saw what an allergic mess he was. “Oh, Eds, sweetie- did you take allergy meds?”
With a wave of his hand, Eddie brushed her concerns off. “I did yeah. Already got it id be. I guess it wedt well? We talked for a lo’g while to bake sure we got his first tat right, y’kdow?” He explained to Chrissy, rubbing at his nose to itch it some but it makes an awful squelching sound.
Chrissy makes a face at the noise but shakes her head. “No, you idiot!” She looks positively thrilled to share this news with him. “Eddie, he was definitely hard when he left.”
A beat of silence.
“What?” Eddie asked incredulously and met Chrissy’s eyes. “You’re joki’g? You’re dot joki’g. D’no… you’ve gotta be fucki’g with be…”
Chrissy watched him as Eddie began to pace between her and the cabinets of his workstation. “I’m not- Eddie, what happened?”
“Ehh… EPTSH’uhh! Ugh… sorry. Okay this is godda sou’d crazy… but I thidk by dew cliedt is ki’d of idto by sdeezes.”

So many asks suddenly! I was gone from this au for a few days! Hope you're well rested!
Can I ask where you get ideas for an AU? Like do you have a bunch and pick which one you fancy? cause I love your ideas for the ESAU!! Where'd it come from?
dw my inbox ain't goin below 5 atm. this is the 12th ask in the inbox rn cuz they keep piling again even though i brought it down to 2 like 2 hours ago. and i haven't sketched up any ideas for the school wall irl yet and i'm physically and mentally tired af from all the irl bs last month. fun. :'D
Tumblr media
Just general preferences for the most part I guess- Once I'm hyperfixated on a story/AU, I got no problem expanding an entire world around a lil base idea. In the case of ESAU, it was just this lil comfort idea of having powerful servants based on LBD's possession on mainly Wukong.
Though, with some involvement of a very specific group of characters i've been tryna doodle a comic for irl a while ago, shit just got real and things got so much more darker and corrupted than whatever LBD did to Wukong in the show.
As in, the characters pulling the strings are already rather far placed in the background to the point where no one seems to give them a second glance or question them. And only one of them has officially appeared in the written X Readers of the AU.
In general, ESAU is like a little equation of reverse harem + lego monkie kid + dumpster fire of emotions of various degrees depending on the level of lore in the iceberg you're viewing + technically sorta OC lore + whatever the fuck my brain is on at 10pm when it should slowly turn off. Though, parts of it were kinda inspired by my ancient old Bad Guy Sanses X Reader book called Castle's Pet, and my never revealed OC stories, and I practically just slapped them together with LMK and called it a day fhnfhngfhnhfg
Also I just love making things a bit more fucked up lore-wise just because I know those hook the most interest. It's like a car accident. You're curious and just have to at least take a look at what happened.

Been playing ffxiv, paid to skip HW but really enjoyed stormblood, saw emet-selch for the first time.
I'm very impressed that his first introduction to the player was to be shot and rag dolled down the stairs, it immediately differentiates him from the other ascians who just say ominous and vague nonsense that never amounts to anything. It was almost more sinister, because it really illustrates the point that the ascians are noncorporeal horrors piloting a meat puppet.
Also very minor detail but I noticed even back in stormblood, instead of writing a boring talk quest as "go talk to so-and-so", instead they say "go meet SOMEONE at such-and-such place". Like it's so very minor, but instead of straight up telling me who you're going to meet they just sorta hint and say how excited that person is to see you again.
Mechanically it's the exact same boring quest format, and maybe I don't otherwise even care about that character, but even that tiny bit of speculating who it is and the implication that they have any kind of emotional response AT ALL is already elevating the writing.
I get the majority of quest text boils down to telling the player to go to X or talk to Y or collect Z and there's only so many ways to do that, and clarity of communication is always top priority, but in something long format like an mmo where the player has likely plugged in a hundred hours already you can kinda assume they've been trained to expect a certain order of events and can play with the format a bit.
Also the last duty of sb was one of those "everyone shows up at the big battle as npcs and cheers at you to go on to the big boss while they hold back reinforcements" fights and it's very anime but honestly it always works on me.
Been leveling up dark knight, but I bought the level 80 warrior boost because I hate playing with other people and I wanted to solo a bunch of the main scenario raids instead of queueing. Also I'm playing dark knight because aesthetics, and tanking for a group is too much responsibility for me.
Honestly dk kinda sucks compared to paladin and warrior, way less mitigation and self healing, and though it feels like I'm doing more damage it's still not as much as a pure dps.
Also bought a bunch of clothes on the shop in a moment of weakness, but now my outfit is so cool I don't want to change into anything else! And I kinda miss wearing vanilla gear and seeing your outfit change as you pick up upgrades. Oh well atleast I'm cute and it avoids those awkward moments when a piece from a new set doesn't fit with your current fit.
Ffxiv clothing designs are so gorgeous, even the shitty low-level vanilla garbage is kinda cute. Ppl who buy store stuff obviously look good but I have way more respect for the glamours I see where people just got really creative with in-game items. The graphics are like 10 years out of date but the hair and clothes and faces are still miles better than some of biowares stuff (guys I love you I'm on your side let's figure this out you can't just make everyone bald)
Also I've noticed the cuts scene cameras do a trick anime does a lot to cut down animation costs, the framing and panning and angles do a LOT of the work when they otherwise can't get these limited models to emote that much. Or else they just fully cut away and let a sound effect imply an action took place and your brain just fills in the difference.
Anyway I'm addicted and am probably wasting a lot of time on things I should be doing instead but it's nice to have something to hyper fixate on for a while, and I haven't even started SB or EW and I've heard they're both life changing so maybe I'll just glut myself until I've wrung all the dopamine I can out of it.
Also I've realized there is such a jump in writing quality in SB that I'm only really emotionally attached to lyse and hien and the general, the rest of the scions are all kind of... idk unlikable?? They're all the same kind of snarky but not really funny, and speak intelligently but not really with any character or having much to say. Allisae being maybe the exception but I feel like she doesn't get much screen time compared to her brother.
It was very touching that she's the tough prickly one, but very honestly tells you she feels alone and sadly asks you not to leave her in a moment of vulnerability before the fight where she reaches for your hand desperately before her soul is teleported away. Like damn yeah this is manipulative but you got me! I'm invested now!
Also that little crystal cat boy was in arr and I never finished/paid attention to his quest line so idk how he ended up i SB, guess I'll find out.

William let out a long sigh. He knew he needed to share this eventually, but this early? He'd only had time to rehearse what he'd say four times!
“Okay. So, Lemon kinda sorta got me to say something that needs a lot more explanation for everyone to understand so.. sit down, grab a snack if ya can find one, and get comfy. Story time with the fly will begin.. now.”
He fell back onto his legs, sitting crisscross like he was listening to a story instead of sharing one.
“As most of you know, I have different forms that I can use. What less of you know is I normally use certain ones for certain timelines I visit. Before anyone asks, 'what does that have to do with this void we're in?' To you I say, shut up and let me finish. Now, those forms have to come from somewhere. Weirdly enough.. they seem to come from when I uhm.. for lack of better terms, 'fuck up' a timeline. How do I do that? Well, all timelines I visit seem to have a portal in the place you'd least expect it. For whatever reason, those portals teardown the timeline they belong to when I walk through them. Which means I've destroyed about.. 10 or so innocent timelines by now? Uhm.. Fuck, that's.. a lot more than I thought.. Uh.. story time over for now. I'll maybe explain more later.”
