He was always portrayed as a cold-blooded assassin. One whose victims never saw his face, never emerged from his bloodthirsty madness. Even his own family knew him to be vicious and ready for anything. His little brother Kirua was even his most fervent accuser. But that's the way he was. And most strangers found themselves extremely uncomfortable when his presence made itself known in a room or around a corner.
But with you, on the other hand, even the worst of his personality - which could scare off even the bravest of people - excited and drew you even deeper into his net. His roughness for you was a direct manifestation of the passion for you that burned within him, but also of your strength. He knew that no matter how hard he pushed, you weren't going to break under his force or his bites.
Because yes, he bites you. It's a cathartic way for him to express and release the overflow of emotions that run through him. His white teeth dug into your soft skin like a marshmallow, leaving behind traces of deep violet-blue. It didn't matter to him where - your thighs, breasts, neck, shoulders, belly - as long as he marked you with his imprint on your person, so that everyone would know correctly that you belonged to him and him only.
But he didn't just stick to the mark. When he sank his teeth in, it wasn't just to mark your skin but to touch your soul. Most of the time he didn't stop until the mark was inked, but once he managed to draw a little blood from your flesh. Because it was just at that point that the passion he felt for you drove him mad.
"I-Irumi... p-please I n-need you" you whimpered as your dom boyfriend kept teasing you with his teeth, with rough nibbles.
"But that color looks so good on you" he said, his lips red as he stuck out his tongue to lick some of the blood that had just dripped from your abused skin. He groaned at the taste, he'd already seen blood on countless people and yet "Blood just looks better on you"
But that wasn't his only way of marking you, and no, we're not going to talk about the way he always comes deep inside you, or the way he stays nestled there you to make sure not a single precious drop of his semen leaks out.
We'll mention the way he loses control when he reaches the peak of ultimate pleasure. Your walls squeeze him so tightly that he feels like he'll never stop pouring into you. He clings to you - his body usually so strong - trembling with ecstasy, as if he'll disappear for having felt such great pleasure. Except that in a moment like this, he's out of control, his hips buck uncontrollably against yours and his nails become as sharp as claws as he digs into the soft, immaculate skin of your back.
It's very rare that when you finish making love to him, you don't look like you've just come out of a fight. But then again, that's his way of expressing his passion, and it doesn't mean he's not angry at himself, once the tension and excitement have died down to see the state he's left you in. He's always looking after you, lest your wounds get infected if you go on a mission soon. But be careful, anyone who touches a hair on your head will end up in worse shape than they ever had a nightmare about.

Braids
Illumi Zoldyck x Reader
Synopsis: Illumi caught you braiding Kallutos hair. You at first thought he'd be upset with you, but the look in his eyes was far from anger.
Tumblr media
"Your hair is getting long again Kalluto. You may want to ask your mother to cut it" you whispered out sweetly, your fingers raking carefully through the younger Zoldycks black locks. While they were normally at his shoulder, he had let it go for a year now, too focused on practice to care about his hair. He would simply throw it up in a bun, but now it had been starting to bother him.
Which is why he was here.
"I know, but mother is out for the week and I need a hairstyle that will keep it out of my face. Can you braid it for me?" You hum quietly at his question, fingers beginning to part his hair into three in order to braid it. "You know. I can cut hair too-"
"No no.... just braid" Kalluto squeaked out, body jumping as he felt your fingers mimicking scissors cutting his hair. A small laugh bubbled in your chest as you knew he never trusted anyone cutting his hair other than Kiyoko, not even the family hairstylist was allowed to touch it. "Fine fine. I'll only braid it"
You both sat in silence as you went to work on his long hair, humming a song as you went you didn't even notice Illumi until he cleared his throat. Kalluto stood swiftly, eyes wide from fear of his brother as he stuttered out an explanation. Your eyebrows furrowed, hands reaching to his hair as you muttered out a "I wasn't done".
Kalluto looked at you sheepishly before leaving the room, fingers finishing off the braid as he went. "Now Illumi, you didn't have to scare him!" You scolded before standing and moving towards the door. Illumi grabbed your hand, pulling you to him before you could get to the door. You smiled sweetly at him, knowing he wanted a kiss without even asking.
The kiss was short and sweet, your fingers coming up to comb through his hair. "Do you want me to braid your hair as well my love?" He scowled down at you, not liking your ability to read him at this very moment. He opened his mouth to snap back a snarky remark but you yanked him towards the bed with a giggle.
Forcing him to sit was easier than expected, and you jokingly muttered that you must be getting stronger. Illumi, however, started letting you have your way with him... So in reality you weren't getting stronger, he was just getting weaker.
"I really don't want my hair braided-
"Hush and let me braid you hair" you grumbled out before planting another kiss on his lips. He grew silent as you climbed onto the bed behind him. He knew that he liked when you played with his hair, but braiding? He didn't know about that. Although, the minute your fingers scraped across his scalp was the minute he realized that this was no different.
You smiled softly at the way he visibly relaxed. He was always so rigid and while he did seem to relax a little around you, you've never seen him this relaxed before. "Your hairs so pretty... Wish I had hair like this" you muttered out as you split his hair into three. A comfortable silence fell between you both as you began to braid his hair, and it wasn't until you got to the end that you realized he fell asleep leaning against you. Stifling a giggle, you raked your fingers through the braid to undo it. "I think it's time for sleep my love" you cooed out. Your hand firmly pressed to his back as you moved out from behind him. Gently, you eased him back onto the bed, before poking him to wake him just enough to crawl towards the pillows.
It took a couple pokes, but eventually he grumbled and moved towards the top of the bed. You followed suit, and started to get comfortable for bed. Illumi grumbled at your failed attempts to get comfortable and eventually yanked you into his embrace where he knew you'd be comfortable for sure. His fingers lazily danced along your head, it wasn't much.
But it had you nodding off all the same.

Sister Friend
Gon Freecss!Platonic X Fem!Reader Killua Zoldyck X Reader
Potential Illumi Zoldyck X Fem!Reader, Hisoka Morrow X Fem!Reader, Chrollo Lucilfer X Fem!Reader
Word Count: 2519
Requested: Anon
Request: Hello again! Loved genya's post with a s/o like unohana. I could ask for a hunter x hunter in which the reader is like a big sister figure to gon and killua (they meet in the hunter exam) the reader has the power to manipulate time as she wishes and she is also an ex he murders and ends up drawing the attention of illumi, hisoka and chrollo.
Warning:- Normal zoldyck family stuff nothing that doesn't happen in the show, threats mostly made by reader, family death, reader killed her family
A/N: - this ended up being way longer than I thought it was going to be but I hope that you like it!
Tumblr media
You met on and Killua in the hunter exam, you had been the one of the first to jump in the second challenge, you winked as you walked past them and stepped off of the ledge, easily standing on one of the strings of web waiting on the small preceding wind current before jumping grabbing your egg and using the current to get back up, you landed in front of them with a small smile “you figure it out?” You asked. “Oh! I get it, follow me!” Gon said as he ran past you, you walked over to Netero and the rest. “I passed?” You asked. “I supposed you did.” He smiled as he watched you pass the egg to Menchi. “Do with that as you like, you are the professional.” You said and her eyes widened as you walked past her and settled waiting for the others to pass as well.
The first time that you spoke to them was on the airship, you had been wasting time looking around, you had heard them before you saw them but it seemed that even Killua hadn’t noticed you when you rounded the corner “so what are we talking about?” You asked softly and they both looked at you. “You're the one who jumped first right?” Gon asked. “Hi names (Y/N).” You waved, smiling. “What do you want?” Killua asked, you looked at him and shrugged. “Nothing really.” You answered “Looking for some way to kill time and you guys are here.” “There are tons of people that you could spend time with. Why would you choose us? You think we’re easy targets?” Killua asked, you shook your head. “You two are probably the only two people here that I wouldn’t want to fight, you are honest and your potential is boundless.” You explained “most of the others won’t get much stronger than they are now, they’re easy to understand, manipulate and beat.” “What do you mean?” Gon asked. “Don’t worry about it, just know that I’ll be around to help you out if you need it.” You promised and despite not really knowing you they both believed you.
You saved them many times in the challenges that followed all while helping yourself. Killua however never truly trusted you until the moment in his one on one fight between Illumi and himself where you stepped in, everything around the three of you seemed to stop, you crouched in front of him and Illumi watched you intrigued “don’t worry about what happens next, even if he sends you home, I’ll come get you no matter what.” You promised. “You would not be able to get onto the mountain that our house stands on.” Illumi said, you turned back to him and glared. “You have no idea what I can do assassin,” You glared at him “go home for now, trust me okay?” “Are you sure?” He asked looking at Illumi and it was in the moment that you realised just how much his brother affected him. “I’m sure,” You pulled out a small necklace with an hourglass on it. “You can give this back to me when we come to get you.” “We?” He asked, your hand twitching as you felt Illumi moving behind you. “You think Gon is just going to let you go?” You asked and he shrugged “alright you owe me dinner if he shows up and if he doesn’t I’ll get you a chocolate bar of your choice deal?” “Who are you?” Illumi muttered as he looked at you. “None of your concern.” You answered as you walked back to where you had been standing leaning against the wall, you waved your hand and everyone around you began to move as they had before, the smirk that took place on your face was nothing short of menacing and if Illumi was anyone else he might have rethought his plan however everything went the way that you expected and Killua made his way home.
After Killua’s disqualification everyone else automatically passed, once Gon had woken up the small meeting that followed became more eventful then it needed to be with Gon making a declaration to save Killua “did you put him up to this?” Illumi asked as he looked at you, you sat at the end of one of the tables, hands clasped in front of you as your eyes shifted to him. “Excuse me?” You asked, “Gon let him go, he’s really not worth it.” “He took Killua.” Gon glared. “Mhm and we’re going to go and get him.” You promised “so let go of him and come here.” “You make it sound like I kidnapped my brother but he walked out of his own accord, on your order I believe.” Illumi smirked as you turned in your seat, finally facing him. “What you would have had him do was far worse than me asking him to go home.” You argued. “And how do you know what I would have him do?” He asked. “Time is my toy, I know what you would have had him do, surely you noticed.” You stood walking forward until you were standing behind Gon. “Do you need another demonstration?” Netero cleared his throat drawing your attention back to him and you grabbed Gon dragging him away from the assassin in front of the both of you and sitting him down “don’t worry I have a plan.”
Killua’s rescue was the time that you showed your ability, while the others took the honest route to the house, you took a direct and dangerous route, your ability to manipulate the time around an object made getting to the house easy, you were there within seconds of leaving the others, however the moment that you stepped into the house you were stopped “your from the information broker family am I correct?” You smiled as you looked at Zeno. “I mean there’s nothing left of the organisation that you speak of…” You shrugged. “Yes I remember receiving the warning from your grandfather the day that you were born.” Zeno explained “he promised that you would bring devastation to both families.” “Yes… And then he sent me away so in retaliation I came back and showed him what he had gotten rid of, he lived long enough to regret it and then the family fell.” You answered “but you know that already, so what is it that you want to know, Zeno?” “What do you want with my grandson?” He asked. “Which one?” You asked, he raised an eyebrow. “As it stands I don’t think I’ll ever see eye to eye with your oldest grandson, however Killua the one you’ve all decided a life for, I just want to give the choice back.” “Mm,” Zeno hummed as he waved a hand “follow me.” Zeno led you to a room below the house one that you knew would be your home should you ever get caught by them. “I’m coming in.” Zeno opened the door and inside your eyes found Killua “I believe that will do for now thank you.” “But Grandpa Zeno he isn’t even sorry not one bit!” Milluki complained and you looked at him. “Any reason for the whining or is that just your voice?” You asked as he looked at you. “Who are you?” He asked. “None of your concern.” You answered as you looked at Killua. “You owe me lunch.” “Yeah.” He nodded. “You may go now, Kill.” Zeno spoke. “Okay.” Killua said as he pulled his arms and legs free of the metal cuffs that he had been confined in before winding his shoulders to loosen them walking towards you “damn that hurt, hey Milluki, your right I’m not sorry but I did feel bad that’s why I let you slap me around for a little while.” “What was that?” Milluki asked. “Come on, I'll show you my room.” Killua said, taking your hand and leading you out of the room while slipping the necklace you had given him into your hand a promise fulfilled. “Oh Killua, Silva would like to see you now.” Zeno said. “Dad said that? Okay.” He said as he pulled you out of the room with him. The Zoldycks knew you as the last living information broker and you lived up to the name that travelled the underworld and the smarter of the family figured it was better that you were friends with the future head, they had enough enemies.
You hadn’t meant to catch Hisoka attention however, you were looking after you two self proclaimed little brothers when the overwhelming bloodlust hurtled down the hall they had just turned down, you used yours to push back against coming to stand behind them finding Hisoka sitting on the floor, you knew that he didn’t know your name so you didn’t bother to give him the satisfaction of knowing his “Who’s this clown?” You asked. “Clown?” He asked. “Do you prefer, Joker?” You asked. “Who are you?” He asked. “Me?” You asked. “Mmm.” He hummed standing. “Go with Mr Wing, he’ll teach you what you need to know.” You ushered them both off lifting your hand to stop that card that Hisoka had thrown as you turned your back. “What about you?” Gon asked. “I’ll be fine, I'll meet you there, don't worry.” You winked, Killua grabbed Gon’s arm pulling him toward Mr Wing who was waiting for them at the end of the hall. “Is there something that I can do for you dear?” Hisoka asked. “What are your intentions with them?” You asked, hand dropping to your side though the card stayed high in the air. “My intentions?” He asked. “I want them to become stronger.” “Stronger? Why?” You asked. “They have potential, surely you know, you’ve felt it, that’s why you're drawn to them.” He smirked. “I just want them to reach their potential, I love to fight but I want to fight strong people, people like you though I doubt you would fight me.” The card moved back in his direction and embedded in the wall behind him. “Don’t give me a reason to fight you, if you do you won’t win.” You warned him, this time when he felt your blood lust pour from your body his lip caught between his teeth. “Interesting little time traveller.” He let his head fall back lazily as you turned away from him again. “Until next time, Jester.” You said before you disappeared.
Hisoka was the one to call you to his room this time, it was after his fight “Didn’t know you had company should I go?” You asked as you appeared leaning against the window. “No please, I was just leaving.” The woman answered. “So what do you want?” You asked. “I want to make a deal with you.” He said and you looked at him and raised an eyebrow. “It’s clear that you don’t intend to let any harm come to those boys, all I want is for you to continue to protect them while they become stronger.” “I fail to see how I get anything from aligning with you.” You reminded him and he stood from where he was sitting stepping closer to you, had you been anyone weaker you would have been worried about the time you had left on this earth. “I’m losing interest quickly.” “Well when I finally fight them, I promise not to kill them.” He smirked as you looked at him and glared. “Why would you promise that?” You asked. “Because I know that you have no intention of letting me get any closer to them with the fear of their death, if I promise not to kill them, then you’ll let me fight them won’t you.” He smirked. “If they want to. Would the deal still stand if Gon were to fight you here?” You asked. “Of course.” He smirked as he stepped closer still within range of reaching for you, however before he could get too close you used your nen to manipulate the time around him and move towards the door faster than he could catch you. “Consider your deal made, if you break it, I’ll kill you myself.” You warned him, he gave a soft chuckle in response but did nothing as you left.
I look forward to our next meeting. A text message, the only evidence that you had ever been in his room in the first place, to Hisoka you were a force of nature, something to be tested, he’d gladly provide that test for you.
Chrollo was someone that you knew of before going to York New city however you never expected that the boys would end up getting mixed up with the Phantom Troupe and much less their boss. With the boys captured you had one option so you walked into the lobby of the hotel, everyone around you slowing to a stop as you positioned yourself in front of the Troupe. “One chance to let my little brothers go, I don’t want to have to take them back from you, I can be violent when I deem someone a threat.” You warned them “are you both okay?” They nodded and you nodded back before your eyes found Chrollo. “You are?” Chrollo asked, you looked around mock confusion on your face. “You're supposed to be smart, use the context clues.” You grumbled as you increase the rate that time moved around you, moving faster than they could see, easily taking Gon and Killua back from the thieves. “Your ability, how does it work?” Chrollo asked, stepping forward, you smirked at him and shook your head. “Why would I ever tell you that?” You asked. “I’m sure that’s one of the conditions for your ability right?” There was a small quirk of his lips and you looked at him and smirked as you placed yourself between them and the boys. “We find ourselves in need of a new member, would you consider the place in exchange for your brothers’ lives.” Chrollo suggested, you looked at him and smirked. “What is it with all you big boys and your deals?” You asked “I won’t be joining your idol group anytime in the near future.” “Why is that?” He asked. “Because you offer me the place at your side in the hopes that I won’t stab you in the back and should I accept the position, you would be right to assume your safety. I have no intention of stabbing anyone in the back.” You informed him “my ability affords me the luxury of stabbing you in the heart and watching the light leave your eyes when I’m ready to let you go, I promise you that will be the only outcome the next time that you threaten those I call my family.” “You're an interesting one.” He smirked as you turned away from him and lifted to accelerate the time around you, Killua and Gon as left concealing the direction you fled in. To Chrollo, you were a proposition that he intended to pursue and secure before anyone else could.

Chapter 12
Tumblr media
Noa (pov):
We eventually reached what seemed like some high tower of some sort. We all deboard from the blimp and we watch it fly away into the distance leaving us all to wonder.. How on earth do we get off or down this tower. Nothing around the edges had anything tied to it, thus meaning going down by rope was not an option. But there are some idiots who attempt to climb down, but their life was taken by some large creature.
“ Look over here, I found an entrance.” Hisoka calls to us moments later. Gittarackur and i walk towards Hisoka.
“ Well I’m going down, Good luck. Don't become chopped liver.” Hisoka laughs and jumps as the floor tile opens beneath him. Gittarackur and I look at one another and nod trying to find our way to another entrance. Once I found mine, I bid Gittarackur a farewell and jump to my next challenge. Once I land on the floor i look around to see that there’s a wrist band but there’s an extra one. But I’m not left alone much before i hear a small thud behind me. What are the Odds, the same heartbeat.
“ What are the odds.” Gittarackur shakes as he speaks from behind me.
“ I said the exact same thing Gittarackur.” I smile and pass his his little wrist band watch he will need to wear. Once Gittarackur  has on his wrist an intercom speaks telling us the small rules and how we’re at a prison. With not much of a care we go through the open hall. That’s when we enter a small lightly dimmed room, nothing but the small torches lighting up the room.
*Lub Dub LUB Dub lub DUB*
Ah the soft rhythms of a heart, but make that many hearts in this room, we are not alone.
“ Looks like we got us some company” a voice speaks from the darkness and moves forward. Both Gittarackur  and I stand in our place, not very phased by the many people that walk forward with the voice.
“So let me tell you the rules to pass, this is a game called “ tap in” the only way for you to pass and win is to kill us all. But you can’t tap out until you kill your opponent. If you die, then your partner can tap in.. but then they have to kill us all, alone to pass.” a rough voice speaks among the crowd of 56, 57, 58, 59, 60,61, 62, 63, 64… of 64 people.
“ sounds like a walk in the park.” I laugh to myself, if only they knew i took out way more people than that in minutes.
“ Very well, when do we begin?” Gittarackur asks.
“ Whenever you’d like, don’t think it will be easy. Just go ahead and step into the square. If you’re body leaves this square before you kill one of us you’ll be  eliminated from the hunters exam.”  the man speaks.
“ Won’t be an issue, let me go first.” I speak up as i pass Gittarackur  and step into the square field. That’s when a woman walks in, she had a pale complexion to her, with sunken eyes. “ She already looks dead,” is what i think to myself but i try not to be rude and voice that out to her.
“ Awh looks like your little partner didn’t want to go first, well they do say ladies first.” The woman laughs as she gives me a small smirk.
“ I’m not here for a small chat, when can we begin?” I ask in annoyance, since she’s disturbing my concentration.
“ whenever you’d like, just make the first move, I’ll give you the first hit.” The woman stands before me with her arms crossed over her chest.
I slowly begin channeling my aura towards my fingers and crotch down towards the ground and tap my nails against the cobblestone, creating a light rhythm. A rhythm Is all I need.
I repeat my motion until i have perfected the rhythm and i abruptly stop.
“ Are you going to attack or just keep thumping your nails.”
“ No, I'm done with that.” I get up and dig my nail into my palm, deep enough to draw blood to the surface. That’s when i get close enough to her and i extend my hand out to shake her hand.
“ You want me to shake your hand. Wow, is this your way of giving up already?”
“ No, I simply want to give you my respects before I kill you.” I smile as I extend my hand to her.
“ hm cocky, but why not i have nothing to lose because you’ll be the one dead.” she smiles and extends her hand. In the process of doing so i graze my nail quickly over her finger down her palm knowing i cut her.
“ My apologies, long nails.” i explain as i firmly grab her hand and give it a nice shake. But duing the whole process I focused my heart beat to beat at her rhythm, mimicking her heart. As well as focusing my aura to my blood which is mixing with hers. I pull my hand away slowly and nod before i whisper “ stop beating.” That's when she suddenly grabs her chest and gasps in pain.
And just like that, she dropped dead. I can hear the gasps being heard in the distance. I walk back towards Gittarackur and tap him in, “ Good luck, shouldn’t be too hard for you to follow suit."
Like a game of tag, Gittarackur and I were talking turns in killing our opponents, which took us a total of 4 minutes, 32 seconds, and 0.06 milliseconds. Minus the time it took every opponent to gain the courage to walk up to the designated spot..
We then had to move to our second challenge, which was.. A game of two truths and one lie. Which was faced with someone who was a conjure, one who was a master of fortune telling. But she didn’t stand a chance with me. I asked to be the one to take her, so it wasn’t long before I focused my aura on my scent. To mimic someone she loved or knew, so that i may disguise my answer with the answer of her loved one. From the get go, she thought i was someone of her past, whom I’m not sure, but jut by manipulating her perception of who was actually in front of her with my scent had us passing to the next round in minutes.
“ You just love tormenting people.” Gittarackur speaks from besides me as we walk through the tunnels.
“ No I just like doing things quick. You Gittarackur like to torment people, you always take the long route.”
“ I took out all my opponents in the first round in a maximum of 8 seconds.”
“ 8 seconds too long, try 6 next time.” I laugh after hearing him scoff at my comment.
We eventually end up winning the whole thing.
The last round ended up taking longer than it needed to be.. As in, it was hours, but we came out second and third place, with a time of 6 hours and 21 minutes.
“ Well hello there you two, what a surprise.” Hisoka smiled from his end of the large room.
“ Surprise? More like a pity we came second and third to you, joker.” I bite back as we walk towards the Joker with flaming pink hair, sliding down besides him on the wall.
“ So Do tell me Gittarackur, is she not an impressive one?” Hisoka asks.
“ I’ll refrain from answering.” Gittarackur speaks as his eyes are closed with his arms crossed
“ I find it rather insulting that you need to ask Hisoka, when you know the answer is yes.”
" Sounds like Gittarackur is a little upset." Hisoka pokes fun at Gittarackur .
" No i am not." Gittarackur is quick to speak and defend himself.
" yes you are Gittarackur, it's because i could get the job done faster."
" You left a mess everywhere Noa."
" The rules were get the job done, there were no rules on how clean the kill had to be." I snap back.
" I'm not arguing with you." Gittarackur adjust himself and tries to block me out.
" argue, there's nothing to argue about if what i said is true." With that i close my eyes as well and sigh a sigh a relief, finally allowing myself to rest.

Illumi stares at you often, and when I mean often, 95% of the time spent with him involves him staring at you at least a little.
His big, black eyes always seem drawn to you when you’re in his vicinity, pulling you into their dark depths. You’d think it would feel cold, considering his profession or cold personality, but looking into his eyes feels strangely warm and fills you with fuzzy feelings.
The dark haired assassin had never felt the way he felt about you before. At first he hated the way you made him feel, avoiding you at all costs. But the distance made his heart hurt, which again, is something he’s never really felt before.
If he hadn’t met you, none of this would have happened. Maybe… just maybe if he just took care of you and ended your life, that would make his heart stop racing every time he spotted you.
But he could never do it. You were full of blind spots, way too trusting, and much weaker than him, but still… he could never find the chance to kill you.
No… that’s not true. Just by walking past you alone, he could count at least 14 ways he could have swiftly ended your life within seconds, but when he moved to pull out his needles… he physically couldn’t. The needles heavy in his pocket, his heart thumping against his chest so fast that it made breathing difficult.
Killing was the only way he knew how to really interact with others. Killing them, killing for them… it’s all he really knew. So when you spotted him at a party for Hunters that he only attended so he could gather information on a target and invited him to join you for a drink… he couldn’t say no.
While the two of you talked, every little thing you did was noted down by him and stored away in his brain. The way you drilled your fingernails against the table when you were trying to remember something, the way you smiled softly when he occasionally spoke up, and even the way you breathed.
When you got up to leave, you gently patted his shoulder, saying that the two of you should ‘hang out sometime’.
And that single touch was the beginning of the end.
Just that small amount of physical contact made him feel way more drunk than the drink he’d been sipping on. The warmth of your touch reminded him of the first time he tried rum. The warm, almost scorching feeling of the liquor running down his throat almost matched the intensity of that little touch.
And he wanted more.
He had never gotten as hard as he did the night after you touched him. He found himself jerking off to pictures he found of you on your social media, imagining your pussy clenching around him instead of the touch of his hand.
As the months passed, you found yourself encountering Illumi a lot more than you had in the past. Whether it be on jobs, random bump ins at the bar or while you were shopping… it’s like you saw him everywhere these days.
Illumi felt no guilt over putting a small tracking device in your bag. After all, he killed people for a living, this was nothing.
He told himself that he was just fascinated with your ability, or perhaps even your knowledge on a specific subject. But that shouldn’t have been enough for him to be carrying you home from the bar after you had a few too many, his hands holding back your hair when you needed to vomit.
Illumi had never taken care of someone before, but when he attempted to leave you to your own devices, your hand held onto his sleeve.
“Don’t go…”
This is when he realized that he didn’t want anything you could give him that he thought. Your knowledge or your abilities meant nothing to him in the moment, what mattered is that he was curled up next to you, staring at you as you slept.
Illumi could go multiple days without sleep, so he spent the entire night just staring. Here you were, with your cheek squished against his arm, your hands clutching his shirt as you slept.
Could you ever even comprehend the things he had seen and done? Did you even understand that the man you had allowed into your bed ended other’s lives for a price?
You slept so soundly, as if you were not curled up with an experienced assassin. He couldn’t help but reach out and cup your cheek, squeezing the soft flesh between two of his nimble, pale fingers. This made to whine a bit in your sleep, but it didn’t wake you.
He was just… in awe of you. Everything you did had his heart racing. Even asleep, your actions could send him into cardiac arrest if he wasn’t careful.
As he caressed you, something he had been wanting to do for a while, his mind wandered.
What would happen if someone like him was sent to kill you? You were too trusting, too kind and naive for your own good.
He couldn’t let that happen.
That thought made him pause. For the first time in his life, he wanted to protect someone instead of use them for his personal gain. You weren’t just a means to an end or a stepping stone to his success… you were you.
And he loved you.
Love… the concept was foreign to him, but if that was the word that described what he was feeling for you… maybe he could somewhat understand the cheap romance novels he had read when bored on missions.
In the morning, you were sick again. He did his best to help you. Illumi had seen plenty of nasty things, he could handle some vomit and tears.
“Thank you, Illumi…”
He glanced to you as he put on his coat to leave. You were in your pajamas still, your face still a bit warm from embarrassment. The two of you barely knew each other, yet you had roped him into taking care of you.
“It was… no trouble.”
“B-but it was! Can’t I do anything for you to make up for it?”
He stopped, pausing by the door. “… be mine.”
The heat in your face increased tenfold. “What… did you just say?”
“I said be mine.”
Illumi was in front of you in no time, his hand was cold, but firm on your waist. “I want you, (Name).”
“Um…”
You laughed nervously, flustered. “How about a date?”
“Those terms are acceptable.”
As Illumi walked towards the car that had come to pick him up, he was already planning out how he’d bring up the prospect of marriage to his family. Of course they wouldn’t stop him, but he would prefer their approval.
Illumi opened his phone, seeing that you had texted him.
(Name): how about Sunday at 7 pm?
That was in two days. Would he be able to find a ring that suited you by then? Ah… but he really wanted to see you again as soon as possible.
Illumi: Sounds great.
He could feel himself get hard with excitement. As he looked out at the scenery passing by, he wondered if you wanted one or two kids.
‘Three or more would be best… but I’ll let her decide. She’ll be the one bearing my children after all.’
Unbeknownst to you, your entire future was being laid out for you. For the better or worse.

The ring was beyond repair.
It was the ugly kind of damage, too – the gold chipped and dented, some parts entirely flattened while others had scratched and tarnished to the point of virtual unrecognizability. The jewel itself (a diamond the color of the sky just before sunrise and the size of the nail on your pointer finger) had been pried out of its casing and polished with the blunt side of the hammer you’d pilfered from collection of one of the more forgetful servants. Any fragments that might’ve been worth salvaging were then washed down the sink of your en suite, and the near-microscopic remnants glistened against the table’s dark mahogany – twinkling whenever they caught the ample sunlight.
It'd been his mother’s ring; albeit, one of countless. Breaking it in such an obviously deliberate way had been a stupid thing to do, and a part of you must’ve known that while you were doing it. A part of you must’ve basked in the idiotic rage of it all, must’ve been dying to see what Illumi would be like when he couldn’t hide behind those big, blank eyes and that unreadable expression. As hazy as it seemed, you could remember being excited to see how Illumi would react, what he thought he could do to you that he hadn’t already put you through.
Now, though, standing next to him as he evaluated the damage, watching as those dark, glossy eyes skirted from the splintered wood to the decimated ring to the sparkling residue…
You weren’t excited, anymore.
Several seconds passed in silent paralysis. Images of braided rope and rusted chains and broken legs flashed through your subconscious, but he managed to draw you out of your spiraling thoughts with a low hum, a startling click of his tongue. Finally, he turned toward you and raised a hand, and you braced yourself for the feeling his fist around your neck, two fingers piercing the fragile bone of your skull, his pointed nails clawing out your eyes and leaving you to ble—
His palm came to rest on top of your head, petting over your hair gently. “Sweetheart,” he muttered with a tone as warm and as affectionate as a corpse in a snowstorm. “Would you come with me?”
You opened your mouth, but closed it again just as quickly. You nodded, the gesture stilted and jerky, and Illumi offered an approving smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, letting his hand fall to your wrist. He pressed a lingering kiss into the top of your head before tugging you gently towards the door.
Neither of you spoke as he guided you through the halls of his mansion. Usually, you could count on running into one of the sociopaths that made up his family or a member of their bloodthirsty staff whenever you left your room, but today, his sprawling home seemed to be vacant, lifeless, as empty as the killers who dwelled inside of it. Steadily, you moved downward, the marble walls turning to rough stone, the filtered sunlight soon traded out for the artificial glow of dim gas lamps. He didn’t drag his feet or try to prolong your walk to the gallows, but he didn’t rush, either, didn’t seem to be in any rush to carry out your inevitably punishment. Eventually, he came to a stop in front of a simple wooden door – unremarkable in every aspect save for the deep well of dread it managed to dredge up inside of you.
With little ceremony, the door was pushed open and you were ushered inside of ahead of him. Your attention quickly fell onto the object most immediately in front of you: a dog crate.
It was almost shockingly mundane; not overly massive, but big enough for a large pitbull or golden retriever, the bars thin but close together and the bottom cushioned by a small bed with pink and white paw prints splattered across it. A handful of miscellaneous items had been laid on top of it. Your attention caught on the collar, first, the cutesy type with a bell and fake (or, knowing Illumi, very real) gemstones studded into the leather and a matching leash, and then headband with what couldn’t be—
Illumi moved past you, approaching the crate and taking up the undeniably, indisputably dog-eared headband. He turned it over in his hands once, then twice, before speaking. “Strip.”
It sounded like gibberish; partially muffled by the static buzzing over your conscious mind and made even more difficult to process by your own unwillingness to do so. “What?”
“Strip,” he repeated. “Or I’ll break every bone in your right hand.”
It was the specificity of the threat (paired with the implication that your left wouldn’t be long to follow) that had your shaking hands reaching for the hem of your shirt and hauling it over your head. You looked towards him for approval after every shed article, but he only seemed to notice your obedience at all when you stood bare and vulnerable in front of him, completely unprotected from both his prying gaze and the chill of the damp dungeon air. You started to move towards him, but he stopped you with a quick shake of his head, a new softness to his expression. “Kneel.”
With a shallow breath, you complied, lowering yourself onto your knees. Now, now, he took his time, his terrible eyes raking over your trembling form as he came to stand in front of you. The collar was fastened around your neck deftly, the leash allowed to hang loose and pool in your lap. He was more careful with the headband – meticulously lining it up with your ears, your face before sliding it into place with a satisfied hum. In a very distant, very muted way, you found that you were surprised less that your hitman-turned-kidnapper would have a pet play lair hidden away in some dark corner of his basement, and more that the aforementioned kidnapper would use that pet play lair to dress you up as a dog, rather than a cat. Illumi was as cat-like as a man could be – silent and skulking, prone to digging his claws into what he loved most – but the more you thought about it, the more sense it made. Cats were smart and sly and perfectly capable of surviving on their own, whereas dogs were stupid and clumsy and almost painfully reliant on their owners. People get cats because they want something that can choose to love them back. People get dogs because they want something that doesn’t have another choice.
“I--Illumi,” you managed, his name still awkward and bitter on your tongue. “I… I’m really sorry, and I’ve learned my lesson, and—”
One second, you were staring at his feet, and the next, your head was snapped to the side, a searing pain stitched deeply into your cheek. His open palm slipped downward, cupping your chin and tilting your head back, forcing you to face him properly. “Good pets don’t talk.” His tone was shockingly sweet, coercive, as if he was trying to explain something very simple to a very stupid child. “Good pets only follow commands. Can you do that for me, puppy?”
Tears were starting to gather in the corners of your eyes, a tight knot lodging itself at the base of your throat, but you did your best to keep both at bay. You started to nod, then thought better of it, straightening your back and squaring your shoulders, trying to communicate the only thing you could seem to think – please don’t hurt me please don’t hurt me please don’t hurt me – without giving him a reason to land another blow. In the end, he rewarded you with the ghost of a smile, his free hand held in front of your mouth. “Good puppy. Now lick.”
You hesitated, but the steady ache pounding in your cheek was enough to make you swallow your pride. Your tongue darted out from between trembling lips, and with no small amount of trepidation, you lapped over the back of his closed fist. He let you begin to pull away before moving – before forcing two fingers into your open mouth and pressing the pads of his digits into the back of your throat. You gagged, your body instinctually recoiling, but he didn’t relent, his thumb digging into your jaw as he held you in place. Your hands shot to his thighs, the tears you’d forced back resurfacing and flooding down your cheeks, but he didn’t budge, didn’t pull away until you were gasping and breathless and utterly humiliated. Finally, he drew back, wiping his spit-soaked digits on your shoulder as his eyes moved from your open mouth to your hands, still balled around the fabric of his pants. “I have something upstairs for those,” he said, voice dripping with all the warmth and affection he usually denied you. “I’ll forgive you this time, puppy, but good pets shouldn’t be able to grab.”
He reached down, taking you by the leash. You were too detached to resist as he half-led, half-dragged you towards the crate. This time, you couldn’t stop yourself from shaking your head, from stammering out little ‘no, no, no’s as his fist curled around your collar and forced you past the metal gate and into the confined space, suddenly so much smaller than it’d seemed from the outside. You had just enough time to scramble for the door before Illumi slammed it shut, letting the clasp fall into place and leaving you withering inside the makeshift cage. You couldn’t stop yourself – hands curling around the bars as you looked toward him with your most pleading expression, but Illumi only shook his head. “You don’t have to sulk. Maybe, with some time, we’ll be able to move your bed somewhere warmer.”
He paused, his grin widening into the first real smile you’d ever earned from him.
“After you’ve proved you can be a good dog, of course.”

illumi isn’t close with his family in the same sense that normal people are close with their families, but nonetheless he feels the need to inform them of major developments in his life. through a letter he tells his family of his engagement, and says that he is going to bring you to his home to see them all.
silva is indifferent, and zeno couldn’t care less, but kikyo is ecstatic that her illumi is finally going to marry someone- and that it isn’t that awful clown hisoka. she’d been seriously concerned for a second there. but she rounds up all the members of her family to be present on the day of your arrival (using excessive force because nobody really wanted to come besides alluka, who was only allowed to meet you because killua threatened to not show up unless alluka was permitted as well).
when you and illumi first arrive after the lengthy trip up the mountain, you are greeted by butlers gotoh and canary, whose presence startles you. you were aware of illumi’s great wealth and status, but it was certainly different from how you’d grown up. just getting inside the actual home is a process- illumi’s strength slightly freaking you out when he pushes open four of the doors to the entrance of the mansion without breaking a sweat and then encountering Mike, the Zoldycks’ monstrous dog. illumi does notice your apprehension, though, and plainly assures you that the dog won’t harm anybody it isn’t supposed to. you’re still visibly nervous, though, so illumi has you come closer to him and hold on to his arm. regardless, you realize it may be tougher to settle in than you thought.
at last, though, illumi brings you to his family. nobody reacts much outwardly to your presence, but you notice a white-haired boy with catlike eyes observing you closely, his expression a mixture of suspicion and confusion. standing beside the boy are two other black haired children- one with short black hair standing somberly with his hands folded in front of him, and the other an eager blue-eyed girl whose gaze sparkles as she looks at you. the white haired boy stands right behind the blue-eyed child. the tall, blonde man with a large frame illumi tells you is Silva, his father, and the slightly shorter man with white hair beside him is illumi’s grandfather, zeno.
without warning, you feel thin arms thrown around you in an embrace, and you almost jump out of your skin. but when you are released, you see the woman that can only be your fiancés mother, the only member of the family illumi had warned told you about prior to the visit. kikyo wears a large dress with an ostentatious petticoat and hat, and most notably a visor over where her eyes would be with one red glowing dot. her appearance is unsettling, and you find it a little difficult to force a smile when she greets you. illumi watches you from the side of his eye, his face unreadable.
just as kikyo is pulling away, something gleaming and silver and large is thrown right at your head, whizzing right by kikyo’s hat and slicing off a single hair from the feather on her hat. you don’t hesitate to lift your hand to your face and catch the sword immediately, the blade slicing your hand- but you don’t flinch as the blood seeps onto the blade and down your arm. you tilt your head to the side to see your assailant is silva, his arm still poised in throwing position. his expression grows less stony once he sees you’ve caught his weapon.
there’s a moment of icy silence, you lowering the weapon to your side, and silva watches you even more intently before uttering a flat “welcome to the family.” with that, he and his father turn and disappear elsewhere inside the mansion. kikyo, though, takes this as her cue to immediately grab you so you two can walk by yourselves throughout the mansion. illumi doesn’t look super pleased to see his mother take you, but he knows better than to try and stop her.
you two are navigating the long, hollow corridors of the zoldyck home. you pass many unsettling family pictures and paintings as well as various weapons like swords and arrows on the walls, and several human sculptures that seem a little too realistic. you’re also sure that you pass at least two torture chambers. it’s an eerie atmosphere, which was what you’d expected, but it doesn’t help your nerves.
kikyo either doesn’t notice or doesn’t care about your apprehension, and instead starts talking about how much she’s wanted a daughter and how thrilled she is to finally have a “daughter” to take in. but then she grows eerily serious. she talks about how you’ll be expected to be the next lady of the house and, since you’re becoming a zoldyck, how you’ll have to follow the same codes they do as a family and exhibit the same values- which makes you antsy. the woman clearly seems a bit unhinged. you’re relieved when the walk ends and you’re returned to your fiancé, who gestures for you to take his arm again. illumi’s mother’s mood changes drastically yet again and she storms off, shrieking to her husband that it’s rude for him to walk off after hardly having said anything.
now you and illumi are left with the four other children- the white-haired boy, the girl with long hair, the boy with short hair and purple-pink eyes, and a homely fat boy behind the three younger ones. he holds a small console in front of his face and doesn’t even seem to acknowledge your presence. illumi introduces them to you.
“y/n, i’d like you to meet my siblings,” illumi states in his usual manner, walking slowly towards them. gesturing to the white-haired boy, he says, “this is my brother, killua. i call him kil.” he looks down at his brother with an eerie smile and black eyes like pits, but killua keeps his stony gaze straight ahead. his hand rests on the shoulder of the girl in front of him.
“this is my youngest brother, kalluto,” illumi continues, placing a large hand on top of the boy’s head. his hands remain folded in front of him, and he gives you a polite nod. looking toward the fat boy behind kalluto, his expression slightly curling into one of disdain, illumi tells you, “and this is the second oldest, milluki.” milluki doesn’t acknowledge you at all, which seems to visibly irritate illumi, but he doesn’t reprimand the boy.
you’re confused when illumi doesn’t introduce the girl, and you glance up at him in confusion. “illumi, what about her?” you look down at the girl in front of killua, who looks surprised for a second, and so does killua behind her. “you forgot to tell me her name. she’s a beautiful little girl.” you manage a small smile, leaning down slightly to stroke the girl’s hair. her blue eyes sparkle with joy, and killua looks up at you as well, looking a little confused but also very relieved. “your mother said she had no daughters.”
illumi’s eyes lower ever so slightly, giving him a dismissive look. “she doesn’t,” he answers flatly, and his tone makes you feel like that’s the end of the discussion. you’re definitely lost- but you suppose it’s something illumi will have to fill you in on later. you glance sideways at illumi, hand still resting in the girl’s hair. she definitely doesn’t seem to mind you, and killua appears to have warmed up to you as well. milluki’s vanished elsewhere and kalluto watches the whole exchange from the corner of his eye.
suddenly you all hear kikyo call for illumi, who immediately stands up upon hearing his name. “you will remain here until i return.” he tells you, his tone no-nonsense, and heels clicking he makes his way down the dark hallway, leaving you alone with the kids.
the second illumi is out of earshot, the girl brightens up. “hi!” she chirps, bouncing on her feet excitedly. “my name is alluka!”
you’re slightly startled, but you smile at the girl anyway and tell her hi, still wondering why illumi seems so detached from this girl in particular.
killua seems to read your mind. “i know what you’re thinking,” he tells you, not unkindly. “listen, my family doesn’t like alluka much- and they refer to her with male pronouns. just go along with it in front of them. it’s safer for you.” he pauses, then looks down. “but thanks for being nice to her.”
you frown and nod, deciding not to ask any more questions about it. kalluto still hasn’t said anything, but somehow you don’t feel like this boy will be anything to worry about.
with alluka and killua having warmed up to you, you get into a conversation, and kalluto eventually offers a few words after awhile- although never acknowledging alluka directly. most of it is basically killua wondering how the hell you managed to get engaged to someone like illumi.
“No way he didn’t force you to go out with him.”
“What the hell do you even see in that guy? He’s batshit crazy- and he’s definitely not a model.”
“How’d he propose? Did he try to kill you and you survived?”
“‘Man, you really gotta be messed up for Illumi to like you.”
“What even made him wanna get married to you? What even made you wanna get married to him?”
“You gotta be kidding me.”
“And you said yes? You’re crazy!”

Day two + three
Tumblr media
Shit.
Why didn’t you figure this out sooner?
You had deluded yourself into believing that maybe he felt bad, that he had actually changed for the better, for your wellbeing, that he actually wanted to treat you for once just to make you happy.
Of course not.
There’s always a catch. It was chiefly for his benefit under the guise of strengthening the involuntary relationship you had with him.
“Fate brought you to me. And thus, it is my duty to protect you.” he explained over and over during his many lectures, trying to drill it into you.
He had only given the illusion of change.
You held your breath, his body looming over you with one hand interlaced with your own and the other straddling your hip to keep you still. He left bite marks on your neck, too rough and inexperienced to be interpreted as anything affectionate, though what he intended, blood quick to seep out of the wounds. He had slowly lapped it up, taking far too long for it to be seen as any sort of foreplay. A part of you wondered if he changed his mind and decided to cannibalize you instead.
He didn’t really care how strange his actions were, though. He had you right where he wanted you — where you should’ve been long ago. He moved like he was following a script; his long, black hair draped down as he went in for more “love bites”. His face was expressionless as always, cementing just how empty this relationship was. How did he develop such a twisted sense of love?
You question why he even bothered preparing you for this, though you appreciated it for once, as he took the time to organize a five day vacation with you – or rather order the butlers to organize it. What was the point? Everything was lifeless and awkward, just like back at the estate. Was this the only sense of normality he was willing to give you?
Your mind recalls when it was first announced to you, it was through your appointed butler, Shiori. Shiori was around the same age as you, chosen deliberately to increase your chances of opening up to her. He gave her the task, having her inquire about your likes and dislikes, favorite hobbies, movies, fashion taste and more just so he could surprise you with it later. You assumed he’s either too awkward or doesn’t care enough to learn about your interests directly from your own mouth.
Sitting at a white desk in your prison of a master bedroom, you assembled a DIY house kit. It was a little greenhouse, the tediousness of it giving you something to do while you tried to maintain your sanity. The room was windowless, the walls soundproof, and there was only one door, a titanium maximum security door that could only be opened with his permission. A security camera with a speaker loomed above you, seemingly always pointing directly at you.
You try not to think about how many times he’s watched you through that camera.
The distant sound of one of the security gates opening catches your ears. Someone’s coming.
You set the tweezers down, heart quickening as you continue listening. It doesn’t take long for the door to be unlocked, the multiple clicks ringing throughout the silent room. Audible footsteps could be heard, causing you to relax a little as that was your indication it wasn’t him. You turn as Shiori emerges, swiftly locking the door behind her and standing with her white gloved fingers interlaced neatly in front of her. She smiles at you and you return a half hearted one.
“Good evening, Master (Name).” she bows her head with formality, her short brown and blonde hair briefly falling over her face. She straightens up again and quickly fixes her hair. “The Master has a message for you. You are to freshen up and dress yourself, you will be escorted outside shortly.”
Your interest immediately piqued. You had only been outside of this room once since you got here – when you attempted your first escape. It was during a time when you had a different assigned butler named Junpei. Junpei had fallen for you in their short time taking care of you, bonding with you in ways no other butler would ever be able to. They were genuine, they actually cared about you and your well-being rather than what their employer had tasked them with. There were no cameras in the room at the time so the two of you made plans to escape whenever they visited under the guise of wanting to keep you company. Unfortunately for you, your captor had already planned for something like this, though he didn’t think anyone had the gall to actually up and do it. Both your and Junpei’s heart dropped to your feet when you saw him standing menacingly outside the first security gate. He was silent, but his bloodthirsty aura spoke for him. You soon found out what it sounds like to physically rip someone apart with bare hands. You actually thought you'd die that night as you found yourself unable to breathe or even think amidst his extreme, malicious aura, eyes widening further when he questions if you truly loved Junpei. You never want to see him like that ever again.
You were let off with a broken ankle and no one spoke of the incident again.
Shiori could see your confusion mixed with awe. “That is all I can tell you, Master (Name). It would be best for you to begin preparing yourself now.”
You slowly stood up, looking at your project for a moment as you pondered what he may have been planning. This was strange. He definitely wasn’t rewarding you for good behavior. You’ve already tried that route of buttering him up in hopes he’d let his guard down; he, in fact, did not and you were punished for dishonesty. How would he know what true love was anyway?
You make your way to the large, luxury bathroom, turning on the warm water and letting the shower run for a bit. You hear Shiori’s footsteps through the door, assuming she’s going through your wardrobe and picking your outfit at his request. You hate him.
You slowly stepped into the tub, the warm water embracing you like a comforting hug. Hot showers restored a bit of your sanity. You liked to stand there and allow the water to splash onto you, imagining you were anywhere but in this hellhole. Shiori, however, encourages you to pick up your speed, well aware of your tendency to reminisce in the shower for far too long. You sigh, stepping out of the tub and finishing your routine. You avoid looking at yourself in the mirror, not wanting to see what months of stress had done to your features. You threw on a fluffy robe before leaving the bathroom. There was an outfit sprawled out on the bed, one you knew he really liked on you though he’s never admitted it, only staring longer than he should.
“Is this some kind of special event?” You ask sarcastically.
It’s a rhetorical question, but Shiori humors you regardless.
“The Master is in a good mood today.” she smiles gently, her voice somewhat monotone.
She reminded you of him in a way. Why did she even choose to work here? You stare at the outfit for a moment, reluctant to even touch it. Shiori notices your uneasiness, fully understanding your anxiety but feigning ignorance nonetheless. “Is something the matter, Master (Name)?”
“I have a bad feeling about this.”
Your anxiety continues to build. Everything in your strange, unstable relationship with him has been purely transactional. Want dessert? Speak kindly to him. Want a new video game to play? Butter him up but be careful not to overdo it, there’s only so much dishonesty he could allow. Want the privilege of having a full belly for the next three days? Behave. Do everything he says without question, regardless if you have to swallow your pride. So despite all of this, why was he suddenly treating you so graciously? Allowing you to leave your prison cell masterfully decorated to resemble a bedroom belonging to a ten million dollar mansion?
Shiori chuckles a bit. You’re aware of how disingenuous it sounds, but you don’t comment on it. “You shouldn’t worry yourself, Master (Name). The Master has been planning this for a while now, I’m sure you will enjoy yourself.”
Great, now you’re worried Shiori has said too much. You’re no stranger to how strict the Zoldyck family is with their servants, how strict he must be with Shiori. You think of what happened to Junpei again, of the desperate pleas that fell upon deaf ears as he continued to mutilate them, how his expression seemed more uncanny than usual.
Shivering at the thought of it, you drop the topic, not wanting to continue to allow her to dig her own grave but grateful for the hints. You remove your robe, ignoring Shiori’s presence as you’ve changed in front of her countless times, and put on the outfit along with your assigned shoes.
Shiori confirms that you’re ready before the two of you move to stand in front of the large security door. To say you were apprehensive was an understatement. Perhaps this was your chance to finally escape? No, that would be stupid. Obviously he’d already accounted for that, most likely had medical professionals on standby in case he needed to break your ankle again. Maybe he’d break both of them this time or even saw your legs off. You wouldn’t put it past him.
The multiple clicks of the locks could be heard again before the door was pulled open, multiple butlers on the other side. Shiori steps out and you’re hesitant to follow, not wanting to give away how eager and ready to bolt you were. Not like you could anyway, not with five highly skilled butlers watching your every move.
Not a word was spoken as they escorted you through the two security gates, your eyes stinging when sunlight poured over you.
You’re outside.
You’re actually outside.
You would scream and cry if the situation was different, falling to your knees and feeling the grass on your hands in your frenzied state.
You look around, taking a mental note of every little thing. You could see the Zoldyck’s mansion in the distance, far away from your separate living structure. Good.
“Eyes forward, (Name).”
The sudden order breaks you out of your thoughts, your head whips forward while your eyes move to look at the source of the voice. It was a taller, older lady with pink, pigtail type hair. She must’ve been serving the Zoldycks for a long time. She’s silent, giving you a stern look before turning forward again. You fight the urge to look around, to run even, as you’re led through the forest that surrounds the estate.
“Where are we going?” you couldn’t help but ask. Your voice is somewhat soft and timid, but it’s clear they all heard you.
“It’s just up ahead, Master (Name).” Shiori answers, her hands now folded behind her.
You’re taking in as much information as you can without actually looking around, taking note of the distance between the Butler’s Quarters and your prison cell. Approximately one hundred fifty seven steps, you’ve been counting. An additional two hundred seventy four steps from the Butler’s Quarters to the front gate. Would you even remember this information?
One of the butlers effortlessly pushes open the giant front gate, the feat reminding you just how weak you truly are. Those gates weigh four tons and the bigger gates above it are many times heavier.
You can’t even begin to describe what you were feeling. A part of you fully believed he had come to his senses and was releasing you like some wild animal, throwing you off of the property and leaving you to fend for yourself. Surely it would be better than going back to that room.
Unfortunately for you, that wasn’t the case. Instead of throwing you out and shutting the gate behind them, the butlers led you to a black Mercedes truck sitting in wait.
Your head hurts. You feel like you’re going to throw up. Typical reaction when you know he’s near. You could just die right now. You knew you were bound to see him again, but that doesn’t repress the dread it fills you with.
He’s staring at you through the tinted windows, you can’t see him — you just know it. You don’t want to see him, you haven't had enough time to mentally prepare; you’ll never have enough time to mentally prepare. Shiori steps ahead of you, opening the passage to hell as the Devil himself sits patiently, his black, empty eyes gazing upon you.
You nearly vomit.
You swallow hard, holding your breath in an attempt to mellow out your facial features as you climb into the backseat. You didn’t acknowledge him yet, slowly buckling your seatbelt and staring at Shiori with widened eyes as she shuts the door, sealing you inside with that monster.
It’s suffocating.
Overwhelming.
You forgot to breathe.
Sucking in sharp breaths, you shut your eyes tightly. The silence is deafening. He’s waiting on you. For once.
“H-hello… Illumi.” saying his name was the equivalent of swallowing a cup of hydrochloric acid. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth, pains your throat, your stomach, everything.
Illumi hums in approval. “Hm. I’m thankful you hadn’t forgotten your manners, (Name). I thought I’d have to discipline you sooner than I anticipated.” you hear him shift, surely turning to fully face you. “I won’t need to, right?” his monotone voice does your ears a disservice despite its smoothness.
“No.” you quickly wipe your eyes, knowing how much he hates seeing your tears.
You finally force yourself to look up at him, his piercing, cat-like eyes filling you with the unwavering desire to do something drastic. Maybe throw yourself out of the car when it’s moving and hope it runs you over, killing you in the process.
You look away just as quickly, tightly gripping your pants to quell the need to gouge your eyes out. At least you wouldn’t have to look at him then. He shifts again, facing forward but not looking away from you. “I’ll assume you’re overwhelmed. You’ve missed me so much you don’t know how to convey it.”
“I didn’t miss you. I actually had hoped you died and I’d never have to see you again.” is what you would say if you were fond of getting the life strangled out of you. Instead, you stay silent, staring at your hands intertwined on your lap.
“What have you been getting up to?”
Shouldn’t he already know? Shiori is his human security camera plus the actual security camera he has in your enclosure. What are you even supposed to say to this? You’ve been rotting in bed and crying your eyes out because you can’t leave? You had thought of creative ways to end your own life? He’d have you restrained to your bed for all eternity if you mentioned that last one.
“Nothing of interest.” is all you say.
“Tell me. I want to hear it.”
Bastard’s trying to force conversation.
“I’m working on that greenhouse project Shiori had given me-”
“I had given you.” he corrects. Silence falls over the two of you as the car finally begins to drive off.
Illumi was always out on missions or some other job, how were you supposed to know it was a gift from him? You wouldn’t have touched it otherwise, preferring to rot in bed than encourage him in the slightest. You’re actually thankful for his extended time spent away doing fuck all, not seeing yourself surviving if you had to physically endure him day and night constantly. Hell, you were barely keeping your composure just sitting next to him and you’d only seen him for two minutes.
“Thank you.” not knowing what else to say, you simply thank him, hoping he’d be satisfied with just that and leave you alone.
“Aren’t you going to ask me what I’ve been doing?”
Of course he doesn’t.
“Killing people?” you state the obvious, hoping he wouldn’t interpret that as you trying to be smart. Assassinating people is his job, it only makes sense to assume that’s what he’s been doing. You wish he’d kill you and get it over with.
“Naturally. Take a better guess.” what the hell does he want from you? You don’t know anything significant about him to be able to give a good guess. You’re clearly stunted, your lack of a response giving it away. He narrows his eyes slightly, reaching out which causes you to flinch. He retracts his hand momentarily upon seeing your reaction before going in again slowly, softly cupping your chin and guiding your head to look at him. “Do you assume I don’t think about you?”
What? He must be fucking with you.
Illumi brings forth his other hand just as slowly, now gently cupping your face with both. You were always shocked by how smooth and soft his hands were. They’re cold though.
“Answer me.”
His owlish eyes were staring directly into your soul, almost hypnotizing you. You shift your head and look away. If you were as bold as you used to be, you would’ve swung on him by now, turning his gentle hands cupping your face into violent claws gripping your throat. It took many lessons for you to learn that you simply could not fight him.
He backs down and lets go of you when you fail to answer, pulling his hands into his lap again. He was aware of your fear, he found twisted comfort in it, believing it would keep you glued to his side. You glance in his general direction but not at his face. He was wearing that purple outfit again and his long, black hair was as silky as ever.
“Aren’t you curious as to where we’re going?”
He sure was talkative today; Shiori did mention he was in a good mood. He’s usually very blank, even around you, his supposed partner. It forced you to learn to read his emotions using his micro expressions, tone, silent indicators, and of course aura. Aura was mainly reserved for more intense emotions, ones you should avoid inducing at all costs.
You were always on edge whenever you were around him, and this unusual shift in attitude didn’t help.
“So where are we going?” you finally ask.
“You’ll see when we get there.”
Motherfucker.
You don’t respond, looking away from him in favor of staring out of the window. You were seated awkwardly, not fully allowing yourself to relax, not that you could in the presence of Illumi. You could almost drown him out completely if it weren’t for his uncanny staring, something you still couldn’t get used to. He barely blinks; it reminds you of some sort of Creepypasta.
“Talk to me.”
It was an order.
“I don’t know what to say to you.” your voice was quiet. You’re really not in the mood to speak right now, especially not to him. This wouldn’t do, however, as Illumi was determined — something that proves to never end well for you.
“You can talk about anything you want.”
“There’s nothing to talk about.”
“(Name),” it was a warning, a hint of irritation laced his otherwise monotone voice. “Do you really not have anything to talk about… or do you just not want to?”
You didn’t want to clearly, but you also didn’t want to taste his wrath.
“Could you tell me about your day?” you chose to interview him instead, hoping that if you got him to talk in length, you wouldn’t have to. He brings his hand up to his chin as if he was thinking, his eyes never leaving you. You felt like he was robbing you of your life energy just by looking at you.
“My day?” he repeated the question, falling silent for a few moments before speaking once more. “If I told you, that would ruin the surprise.”
You reply with a mere “oh” before looking out of the window once again.
“(Name).”
He’s never been this persistent for your attention before. All the times he’s returned home and “spent time” with you mainly consisted of the two of you sitting in silence while he watched you do nothing; an occasional short and awkward conversation. It felt more like he was being forced to interact with you rather than wanting to on his own volition, despite him being the one keeping you there.
“I’m sorry, Illumi.”
You only said his name when you were trying to soothe him, hoping to avoid consequence. He knew that, but he wouldn’t admit that it indeed worked. The slight drooping of his shoulders betrayed him every time, however.
He doesn’t accept nor reject your insincere apology, choosing to silently savor your calling of his name. You will never understand him.
“I answered you, now it’s your turn to talk. Tell me about your home life.”
This question immediately raised flags. He’s never asked you something like this, let alone allow you to cry about it. You look at him, eyes slightly widen for a brief moment. Was he only bringing this up to bait you into talking? “Don’t you already know everything about me?”
He indeed did. He made it known to you that he’d stalked you for five months before making his move, talking about it as if he was stating what he had for lunch. He had no sense of morality, no awareness as to how his extreme actions affected others. He’s insane.
You’ve noticed a slight change in his stare. You’re pissing him off.
“I want you to tell me.”
“Uh,” you quickly scrambled for things to say, “I had my own house and car as well as a really good high paying job.” you used “had” for a reason. You were positive that all your assets were repossessed when search parties couldn’t find you and weeks were flying by without a single clue regarding your whereabouts. Illumi keeps staring, quietly pressing you to continue.
“I had a really sweet dog.” you used “had” again. You don’t recall all the details of that night, only that you had gotten a rude shock when you woke up to a strange man in your bedroom. Surely you would have woken up sooner if you heard something happen, but you didn’t. You decided to ask what you were always afraid to ask before, taking advantage of this moment to finally get closure. “Are… are they okay? My dog?”
Your hesitation was obvious. Nothing good ever happened whenever you brought up members of what he refers to as “your past life.” you were positive he intended for you to talk about things you did alone rather than actual people or living beings you connected with. They didn’t exist anymore, according to him. They don’t matter. Don’t talk about them.
“Your dog is dead.”
You’d been preparing for this moment for months now, but the bluntness of his answer still hit you like a truck. “H-huh?”
“Your dog is dead.” he repeated again with no sense of remorse. ”I didn’t want to risk it alerting you to my presence, so I killed it.”
Something felt off that night, your dog was more anxious than usual, pacing back and forth and staring out certain windows. They even refused to go outside when you tried to let them out, their tail tucked between their legs and fur standing on edge. You should’ve known. You should’ve taken them and ran.
It was even worse that you also ignored all those strange people you had met that week. They all had a gold piercing sticking out of some part of their head, almost like a needle. Their words were slurred and their movements puppet-like as they asked you unsettling questions. “Do you have a romantic interest?” as well as  “Do you have any exes?” and “Do you live alone?”
That should’ve been your sign to get the hell out of there.
Illumi tilts his head and watches you attempt to bottle your emotions. Your hands gripping the fabric of your pants tightly as you bit your lip, your heart was hurting. You’d already mourned for your dear pet, assuming that killer had taken their life when he broke into your house, but still having slight hope that he had spared them.
Why had he even bothered to answer your question let alone allow you to ask it?
He doesn’t initiate anymore conversation for the rest of the car ride, thankfully, allowing you to simmer in your emotions. That doesn’t mean he averts his attention from you, though.
The car finally pulls into a parking lot belonging to a grand, luxurious hotel. You’re as confused as you are shocked. The parking lot is empty aside from several black Mercedes trucks holding Zoldyck butlers and presumably cars belonging to the hotel’s employees. It’s a normal working day and this is a well known, upscale hotel, so why was it so empty?
Illumi looks away from you for the first time since you’ve entered the car, pulling the door’s handle and exiting the vehicle. You didn’t move, you’re too afraid to, you didn’t want to make the wrong move.
Shiori approaches your side of the truck, but Illumi steps in front of her, opening the door for you and holding out his hand. You slowly unbuckled your seatbelt and attempted to slide past him, he only grabbed you and placed you back into the car before extending his hand again, silently commanding you to take it. He took note of your blatant disobedience, but said nothing, deciding against giving you a much desired punishment. He took what he considered to be a softer approach, giving you a chance to correct your mistakes.
Feeling as though he’s one inconvenience away from breaking you, you hesitantly take his hand. His grip was firm, his assistance useless. He ignored your attempt at pulling your hand free the second your foot touched the ground, choosing to let go only after both feet were firmly planted.
Illumi doesn’t explain the situation as he begins walking with you in tow, Shiori and some other butlers trailing behind the both of you. Butlers were all over the place actually, standing guard as if this was a maximum security prison rather than a hotel. You feel like they’re all watching you, fully expecting you to try something in vain. You don’t blame them, if you had super speed, you would’ve run off by now.
The hotel was completely vacant of people, aside from more butlers and concerned hotel employees. As you enter the lobby, your eyes lingered on the receptionist, praying they had seen your missing person’s report months earlier; if it had even been reported as such. They only look down, guilt seemingly spread across their face. Were they threatened or perhaps even paid off to stay silent?
Who knows.
The silence was louder than the shuffling of the butlers’ footsteps or the tune of the faint jazz music coming from the ballroom. A butler approaches Illumi and informs him that all preparations were ready, earning them a nod in response. You silently follow as the both of you are led away, the uneasiness on your face evident to anyone who dared to look at it.
The butler soon stops in front of a particular door far at the end of a long hallway. The space felt liminal, you’d almost think you’d gotten sucked into a different reality if the two people next to you weren’t present. The butler bows slightly before leaving you and Illumi alone. He looked at you, like he was trying to read your expression, before twisting the door’s handle and revealing the room’s interior.
He must’ve paid a fortune. The room was large, decorated with luscious furniture you couldn’t even begin to think about affording. There was a king size bed in the middle of the room, a flatscreen TV almost as wide as the bed propped on the wall in front of it, a glass sliding door leading to a balcony on the far right, and a lounge chair in the corner to say the least.
You awkwardly step into the room, hugging yourself as you attempt to make sense of the situation; taking note of the clicking of the door’s lock.
“Well, here we are.”
His lack of enthusiasm spoiled the mood. Not that the mood was bright anyway.
“So… what’s the point of this?” your voice was a bit low and shy. He didn’t like it, he’d have to chip away at that. He had bigger things to be upset over, however, as you appear, or choose to pretend, to not understand what’s going on. His intentions should’ve been obvious by now. He doesn’t respond right away, causing you to ask yet another ignorant question. “Are we attending some kind of special event?”
“No.” his answer was short, intentionally vague to encourage you to figure it out yourself. Illumi casually moves about the room while you continue to stand in the same spot, presumably checking for himself to make sure that everything was in place. You were on edge, that much was apparent as he stopped a few feet in front of you. “Do you like the room?”
“Yeah.”
“Good. I will be back.”
You feel a slight wind as he walks past you, a little too close considering the amount of space around you. You immediately relax once he’s gone, taking a few deep breaths as you cautiously inspect the room. The thought of trying the handle to see if he’d locked it behind him doesn’t even cross your mind, the odds were against you and you knew that. Doesn’t mean you wouldn’t try the balcony door, however.
It was locked, just as you’d guessed.
Sitting on the edge of the bed and resting your head in your hands, you think in vain of a possible escape. Maybe when he leaves you alone again, you could use something to break the glass then use the bed sheets to craft a makeshift rope? The problem with that is the bedsheets wouldn’t serve you as you were several stories off the ground. Your plan didn’t even account for what you’d do if you even reached the ground as you were sure Zoldyck butlers surrounded the premises.
You decided it was best to just roll with it, see where this was going. Maybe you could exploit him as he does seem to be more lenient with you.
The door clicks and it opens, Illumi standing in the doorway looking in at you, noticing how much more relaxed you appeared to be in his absence. He motions for you to follow and you do so without fuss.
Following him down the long hallway felt surreal, you couldn’t hear anything aside from your own footsteps as his were completely silent; traits of an elite assassin. You watch as his long, black hair swayed behind him, almost glaring as you study his robotic movements. He doesn’t feel real.
The two of you entered the hotel’s restaurant, it was just as desolate of other patrons as the rest of the place. You were led to a lone, two person table placed next to the glass wall, the table’s decorations stood out amongst the others as its setting included rose petals and candles.
Corny. You don’t like this.
You take your seat, now being forced to fully face him for who knows how long. You turn your head to the right, looking out of the window. Your breath hitches as you notice people in the far distance. People. Actual people clueless as to what’s happening to you right now. You give Illumi a side stare, his blank yet judgemental one challenging yours.
“Where is everyone?” you couldn’t help but ask despite knowing it was a question he did not want to hear.
“They aren’t important.”
Why should they matter? They’d only interfere and distract you from what’s important: him. You should only be focused on him and his efforts to please you.
“So what exactly is this?”
Your inability, or unwillingness, to comprehend the situation was beginning to annoy him. Wasn’t it clear? Did the dim lighting and candles not give it away? The rose petals on the table? The romantic — or what he deemed to be romantic — atmosphere?
“It’s a romantic dinner.”
He didn’t offer any further details, upset he had to state that it was a date rather than let his efforts speak for him. You were sitting across from him, the two of you were almost completely alone. This was a date.
“All of a sudden, though? You never let me leave that room before.”
“Why does it matter?” his tone was still flat.
Illumi couldn’t believe you’d question his acts of kindness. He was doing it because he wanted to treat you for once, deciding to take you somewhere appropriate and fitting to your taste.
“I’m just trying to understand you.” you state, holding your hands together on the table as a self soothing mechanism.
“You don’t need to understand me.” his voice hinted at the tiniest bit of annoyance. He had no need to explain his actions, he had his reasons and that’s all you needed to know. “Just enjoy the dinner.”
You say nothing as you turn your attention to the only other people present in the room: the butlers standing at the exits and the chefs working in the kitchen. None of them looked at you, their attention focused on anything but.
“Don’t stare at them. The butlers are simply here to protect you.” his monotone voice made his last sentence sound oddly intimidating.
You fight the urge to question if it was him they would be protecting you from in the case that you anger him.
“It feels like the rapture has happened and we’re the only ones left.” you pick up one of the rose petals, inspecting it as an excuse to avoid his gaze.
“That would be ideal.”
“Is something bad going to happen to me?” your forward question caused his thin eyebrows to raise slightly.
“Not if you behave. I just want you to enjoy this date.” his tone was a bit softer now, barely noticeable to anyone who wasn’t, or forced to be, close to him. He didn’t like your anxiousness, worried it would ruin his meticulous yet futile plans to make amends with you.
You were still on edge as the butlers served a lavish meal to the both of you, your facial features failing to soften as you inspected the food. He was fully aware of just how much damage he’d done to you and he wasn’t going to justify his behavior, only wanting to make you feel better.
It was hard for him to stay silent, however, as you were continuing to look around and stare at the butlers.
“Is the sight of them bothering you?” the sound of his voice catching your attention. “I could have them move out of view if that would ease your nerves.”
He doesn’t get it. Maybe he pretends not to, choosing to ignore your uncomfortableness with him in favor of deluding himself.
“It’s not that, it’s just…”
Your words couldn’t come out, you didn’t know what to say. Ask him to get rid of all the unnecessary escorts and open the hotel to the public again as this felt more like a standoff than a romantic dinner? You hated the silence between you, not that you wanted to speak to Illumi, you wanted to hear the chatter of other diners over the classy jazz music, the clinking of utensils as they enjoyed their meal.
“Oh?” he slowly tilted his head, his uncanny expression observing your every move and sound. It’s as if he was daring you to ruin it all with some sort of stupid comment; it’d give him a reason to drag you back to the estate and lock you away for good.
“Nothing. It’s nothing.” you manage to finally say. It just wasn’t worth it.
He continues staring, features unmoving as you assume he’s thinking of various ways to brutally murder you. He only straightens himself.
“I see.”
You’re internally thankful he dropped it, your shoulders drooping in relief as you watch him continue to eat unnaturally fast, a strange habit of his. When was the last time he’s blinked? You can’t stand him.
Illumi obviously didn’t believe that you had nothing to share. He knew you well enough to guess that whatever you were about to say would’ve angered him, so you kept quiet in order to avoid problems. Good, you were learning.
Silence fell over the two of you, increasing the tension in the air. He’d already finished eating, choosing to gaze at you rather than anything else. He was making you lose your appetite, but you somehow managed to finish your meal.
“Would you like dessert?” Illumi inquired, barely giving you enough time to chew and swallow your last bite before asking.
“No thanks.” you don’t explain why. The truth was that you didn’t want to sit in front of him any longer, you were tired of his eyes boring into you.
“Are you sure?” he tilted his head again, pressuring you for a different answer.
“I’m sure.”
You wouldn’t budge, much to his dismay. You had unknowingly foiled his plans to spoon feed you a strawberry sundae.
“Very well.” he doesn’t push any further, only slowly nodding. “Did you enjoy the food?”
“Yummy.”
Illumi didn’t immediately react to your childish response, only straightening himself after a few moments. He had made sure this dinner would be perfect, planning everything to the last detail, and you’ve shown your gratitude by looking at everything other than him and rating his endeavor with a one word answer.
He remained still for a few more moments before deciding to ignore your strange behavior once again. He stood up from his seat, looking away from you for the first time since he’s sat down.
“Let’s go.”
You follow him as commanded, taking clear note of his slight annoyance. He led you to the hotel’s theater, the sound of your footsteps slightly echoing in the large, spacious room. He picks two spots in the center and takes a seat, you follow suit.
Choosing to stay silent, you don’t ask any questions about what movie the two of you were seeing, only staring forward as the lights turn off and the showing begins. Illumi had carefully selected this movie for you. It was lighthearted and fun, chosen specifically to improve your mood. The date wasn’t meeting his expectations, as you weren’t quite throwing yourself at him, but he was determined to change that.
You tried your best to ignore his constant glancing in your direction for the entirety of the film. It was as if he was looking for something, for reassurance to soothe his ever growing concerns. He didn’t like your indifference, he didn’t like that he couldn’t tell how you were feeling in detail about his attempts at courtship.
The movie was good, you liked it. Illumi was already staring at you by the time you faced him, the credits rolling on the screen. It was subtle but he still looked upset, the image of you leaning away from him as if you were trying to put as much space as possible between the two of you was still fresh in his mind.
He would break that physical barrier, desensitize you to his presence.
As you silently walk back to the suite, Illumi suddenly grabs your hand. Your heart jumps into your throat, fully expecting him to crush it as punishment for upsetting him. He stops walking and stares at you when you impulsively try to pull away, not saying a word as he gives you a second to collect yourself.
You were ruining his passionate act of love. He knew he wasn’t the most expressive, as he was raised to mask his emotions, but his straightforwardness made up for that. You should be happy. This is an act of love. He had done his research — asking his father — and knew what he needed to do in order to please you. He won’t let you spoil it.
Eventually you somewhat simmer down, still tense in his firm hold. He continues walking, slower this time. He wasn’t even holding your hand correctly as yours was balled into a fist. He didn’t care though, as long as he was holding it.
The night hadn’t gone his way but he had plenty more tricks up his sleeve, optimistic that tomorrow would be better. Illumi would not put up with failure.
You were in for a ride.
You reach and enter the suite once again, Illumi locking the door behind him. He lets out a sigh and begins to settle down, having no issue kicking his shoes off and changing clothes right in front of you. You, however, move to sit stationary on the lounge chair, staring at the ground to avoid any awkward interactions with your naked “husband”.
You had no desirable reaction to anything he did, which he found disheartening. You finally look up when he’s fully clothed, watching as he sits on the edge of the bed. He decided to risk it, to ask about your experience. He figured a blunt and bold answer would be significantly better than overthinking and assuming the worst. “Did you enjoy anything I did today?”
Truth be told, you did. You just didn’t like him. Had anyone more deserving taken the time to do this for you, you’d throw yourself all over them.
“It was the typical Illumi experience.”
You regretted saying that before it even left your mouth. “The typical Illumi experience” was not a compliment, it was a brutal insult disguised with subtlety. You had just compared his month’s worth of intensive planning and preparing to a regular day being around him back at Kukuroo Mountain.
Something you didn’t like flashed in his eyes, your fingers nervously grip your pants yet again. What you’d just said was so dismissive, condescending, everything he didn’t want to hear. He turns away from you, looking out of the glass balcony door as he takes several slow and deep breaths. He was collecting himself.
He reasoned in his mind, internally arguing that this was his chance to dissect your feelings and see how he could improve. He turns toward you, expression unreadable. “Elaborate.”
“Am I allowed to express myself?” you ask, your question was legitimately innocent. However, you were saying all the wrong things at the wrong time.
“You were always allowed to express yourself, you just seem to have a habit of doing it disrespectfully.”
“I’m sorry.” you lower your gaze, apology insincere.
You don’t know why he’s changed. You can tell that he’s being softer with you. If you said something like that a few months ago, you’d be unable to speak for the next two weeks.
“Do you harbor resentment towards me?”
That was a rhetorical question. He didn’t want an answer; an answer other than a loud, confident “no” anyways.
You stay silent, continuing to stare at the ground. He didn’t acknowledge that your silence was your way of saying yes.
“Are we going back tomorrow?” you ask, changing the subject in order to lessen the heavy atmosphere.
“Back to Kukuroo Mountain?”
“Yes.”
“No.” Illumi doesn’t provide further details. This trip won’t end unless it’s on a good note. “You should get changed.”
He stands up and rummages through the wardrobe, pulling out a silk pajama set. You slowly stand and retrieve it, making your way to the bathroom to change. He assumes you’re just being shy. You eventually come out, having put your dirty clothes into the hamper, before making your way to the lounge chair once again. The lights have been dimmed in your absence.
He was sitting up in bed, halfway under the blankets, staring at you expectantly. You didn’t want to come to terms with the reality that you had to sleep in the same bed as him; that fact wasn’t lost on him. It was obvious you were avoiding having to deal with the inevitable conclusion of the night by seeking comfort on the lounge chair. He wouldn’t allow you that comfort. “Come to bed.” his tone was flat, it was an order.
“I’m not tired yet-”
“Come to bed.” he wasn’t hearing your excuses, only repeating himself while patting the empty space next to him. You look at him with a saddened expression, silently pleading to be let off the hook; the issue is that he’s let you off the hook multiple times today already and he wasn’t planning on letting you rob him of this. “Do as I say.”
Sensing the impatience in his tone, you reluctantly head over to your side of the bed and slide under the blanket, making sure to curl up as close to the edge and as far from Illumi as possible. You face away from him, silently making it clear you weren’t interested in anything other than sleep. He doesn’t comment on this, choosing to stay silent as he thinks to himself. He wanted to hold you, but he knew not to push too far. At least not so soon.
He sighs, continuing to sit up in bed as he watches your sleeping figure. Tomorrow will be a better day, he’ll make sure of it.

You’ve always been fascinated in how the most improbable and thrilling adventures happened to you out of all the people. And yes, even today as you were getting ready was no exception
You who were always the master of your destiny, it's as if something happened that day when you met him. Something out of your splendid reach
At this time, you left your village and your family to apply for the Hunter exam ( no joke I wrote Chünin 😂 )
You were peacefully running your first 80km in the first trial when you heard two young voices chuckling. You slightly picks up your pace to join them at their level
Once there you were kinda dumbfounded to see such young boys take part in an exam that is reputed to be so difficult. You watched them for a moment - with no ulterior motive like Hisoka - one dressed in green and carrying a fishing rod, and the other with white hair on a skateboard - ingenious but not flashy enough as running and showing off his stamina in tough times
Then your attention turned to the subject of their laughter. You smiled brightly when you saw your little mice running along. Many disappointing candidates had given up, but they were still as brave as ever
"How do simple smiles manage to run such a distance?" said the boy on the board.
"In any case, they certainly deserve their place" said the cheerful one
"Careful what you say they're not just mice" your voice boomed behind them, making both heads turn while you were still running "They're Shino Buff Mice but you can call them Ninjus" you said proudly. It was Tengen, your brother who insisted that you take the mice who work for him with you, just in case
"It's truly extraordinary !" the black haired boy spoke, sounding fascinated. And you didn't mind, at least someone appreciated the family's magnificence
"And how old are you, anyway ?" spoke to his comrade. You looked at him incredulously before giving him your age, almost equal to your long years of hard training ( let's just say you're an adult because Irumi is 24 😭 )
After that moment, you went on to befriend the two boys and the two others they'd met. You formed a fine team and everyone saw you more or less as a big sister to lean on. Frankly, you really enjoyed showing them what you were capable of and what you could contribute
The two boys were very fond of you, seeing in you a member of their family they hadn't known before
So it was without a second thought that you followed Gon, Leorio and Kurapika towards Kukuroo Mountain to rescue - well it's harsh but it's true - your friend from the clutches of his family
And not to brag, but it was easy enough to accomplish. At first he didn't want to let him go, but when Kirua's mother eventually recognized you, she decided to offer you a deal. It was simple, and from her point of view, it was like being served up to you on a silver platter
The deal was simple we'd let Kirua go with her friends on condition that you sign a promise of marriage with her eldest son, Irumi
Of course, he didn't know about it, and between you and me, he'd seen you during the exam. He liked you, of course, but you were taking up a lot of space with the way you behaved, and well, he was more the discrete type
But his mother was sure he would accept for the greater good of his family. After all, you were an Uzui, descended from a powerful ninja clan. You'd make a wonderful assassin for the Zoldyck family, and you and Irumi's offspring would help keep the family's prestige intact even after your generation
You accepted eagerly, it was a challenge that only the greatest could meet and face. So it was for you and also you found Irumi very handsome, his charm hiding a certain darkness that you enthusiastically wanted to get to know.
Kirua refused but you insisted before slipping into his ear that this way you could really become his big sister, bringing a shy smile on his face as he turned his head on the side "You're just so stupid" he mumbled
So when the big day arrived, you stood there proudly holding your brother's arm as he walked you down the aisle. In front of you stood the man who was to be your future husband. His dark blue suit subtly accentuated his muscular build, while the golden needles finely stitched into his jacket enhanced the look
Looking at you, he couldn't help but feel butterflies in his stomach. The way your white diamond dress with hints of violet gave you a sophisticated look. Like the way your corset hugged your chest perfectly down to your hips to mark your waist. Gosh you were gorgeous and he just wanted to be tonight. For someone who didn't really want to get married, he seemed very eager now
Your brother's manicured hands tightened on your waist as you both approached Irumi, and he gave him a dark look, meaning that if a disappointment were to happen, he would deeply regret it
Irumi looked unimpressed, at his threat
The ceremony went off without a hitch, despite the Tengen women crying their eyes out
Strangely enough, you both got on very quickly. You have more or less similar views of the world and especially of the fact that you are superior to many people
Though in the beginning you cringe him so much when you’re loud in public. He wants to disappear. He is seriously not used to this kind of display
Otherwise, you suited him. You were beautiful, stylish, classy, strong... His mother was right your descendants will have everything going for them
There was just one thing he still couldn't get used to yet... your exuberance
You are always too much. Even if you don't mean to. But you can't help being loud, laughing aloud, talking any way you like at the risk of hurting people's feelings, nit that you cared anyways. Because yes, you spent your time roasting everyone, even him
"No, for the umpteenth time, I'm not going to paint my nails" he sighed, trying to concentrate on his next target's file
"Seriously ?!? How can my husband be so unflamboyant !" you almost shouted, making him grit his teeth
His body language gave nothing away. He was like 🕴🏻 "Your word doesn't make any sense" he answered dryly. But deep down he was a little offended. Look at his long ebony locks and his unique outfit, he was flamboyant
"Yes, it does, look at me. I'm flamboyant. Look at you, you're not" you sassed
"Can you stop already" he grumbled
You two kept arguing. But as odd as it may seem, that's what keeps you going, unblocks complex situations and shows you that against all odds, one will always be there for the other
Over time, the protectiveness he feels for his brother begins to shift toward you. He starts standing behind you like a shadow when you two are walking around. He gives people murderous looks. And you could almost hear him hiss like a snake if you got too close
But you know how obsessive he can be, you just put the basics right in his face. No, he wasn't going to doesn't like that with you. You don't even need it. People just by knowing you are from the Uzui clan - with your bandhead - clear the way
But there's one thing that will always amaze him, and that's the remarkable way you surprise him, Irumi Zoldyck
One time you came up behind him and spanked him hard... he yelped. You're lucky he loves likes you because he would have wasted no time on killing you. At least you had the cleverness to do this when you too were alone
He should start to get suspicious and feel it coming but every time you go behind him he doesn't know if he should wait to get a spanking. So sometimes he discreetly holds his breath and closes his eyes. he just knows he is going to yelp
He doesn't like pda like at all. Don't try putting an arm around his shoulders, because he is going to pull away. Though if he sees anyone getting too close he is the type to wrap an arm aroud your waist and pull you flush against his chest
Also you’re both doms… So when you’re going at it, it looks like you’re fighting, but naked. You can do whatever with this info
Sometimes you have deep conversations. Like that day when he felt a little vulnerable after making love - yes not fucking, making love- and he asked you if like your brother you were into polygamy
That day you reassured him as best you could, explaining that not all the men on this planet are worth it
"No even Tegen. I swear he always thinks he is the flashiest but gosh he can be so loud and rude sometimes"
Irumi's eyes widened, and once again you'd surprised him. He kissed your forehead and left you to sleep, his body nestled close to yours. He was glad you answered seriously, because you usually laughed more than anything else when talking about serious subject
The subject of children hasn't come up yet, but you're both afraid his mother will put pressure on you. So Irumi decides to say that he's going to set up a base in another place to be closer to his field of action. But the truth is, he wants to get away from his family and closer to you
He's still creepy and bloodthirsty, but with you he feels like he was starting from scratch. And he'd never felt such excitement - well except on your honeymoon

Halloween
Illumi Zoldyck x Reader
Synopsis: Halloween was something the Zoldyck kids never got to experience, that was until you came along... Much to Illumis.... Delight.
A/n: this is my effort to make my friend fall for Illumi....
Tumblr media
Alluka ran around your legs, chasing Killua who was running away from her. Her fairy princess costume bounced with each step as she squealed for Killua to be her fairy prince. You smiled at them before continuing your trek towards the door where you hoped the tricker treaters would be. Your house was perfect for the Zoldyck kids to come by, mostly because it wasn't hidden in a forest where no one would find them.
It took a lot of begging on the kid's part to let them celebrate even just this once, and while you were excited for them to be here, Illumi was not. Not because he didn't like them, but because he hated this holiday. It didn't make any sense, why would someone dress up as a character that's not even scary? The doorbell rang and you opened the door to reveal a couple of kids in "scary" costumes. You jumped in fake fright, hand clamping over your heart to exaggerate your reaction.
"Trick or treat!!!!" The kids squealed out, and you chuckled at their already heavy bags "My goodness, you look spooky tonight!!" You stated cheerily as you handed out the full-size candy bars to each kid. They thanked you before running off to the next house, leaving you with a loving smile in their wake. You wondered how your kids would be on Halloween. Would they dress up as spooky ghosts? Or would a princess/knight outfit be their go-to?
A hand ghosted your side, causing you to jump in your spot this time out of real fear. "Jesus Illumi. Make some noise next time" you teased before lifting your head to give him a peck on the lips. The witch hat you wore bumped him in the head, causing him to huff out in annoyance. "I don't understand what you're supposed to be" Illumi stated bluntly, causing you to feign shock that he would most certainly take seriously.
Stepping back, you motioned up and down your body. His eyes traveled down the velvet black dress and orange and black stockings before landing on the black pointy shoes. His eyebrows furrowed, "Are those my shoes?"
"No. They're Hisokas"
His eyes shot back up to your face and you gave a sheepish smile before throwing your hands out in a "ta da" motion.
"I still don't know what you are"
You let out an exasperated sigh, these Zoldyck kids had no fun growing up, and it was painfully obvious. "I'm a witch! See, pointy hat! Pointy shoes!! I even have a broom!!!"
Silence followed as he examined the three things you just pointed out. "How does that make you a witch-"
"Oh my... Come here" you said finally, giving up on teaching your helpless boyfriend something that didn't matter. His eyebrows furrowed but he walked over anyway. You wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a loving look, "I love you... But you need to learn some pop culture references"
"Pop culture?"
"Oh my G-"
"TRICK OR TREAT!!!" You broke away from him and clapped in excitement at the new group of kids. "Oh my goodness!! Your costumes are amazing." You exclaimed as you grabbed the bowl off the table. Illumi watched you, still confused about this holiday and why you were so excited. But he couldn't figure out what else he was feeling...
It was similar to how he felt for you, something along the lines of love but it felt, different. He focused on you and the way you interacted with the kids. Your eyes sparkled with pure love and joy and it had his mind reeling.
He didn't like the holiday, didn't understand anything about it. But looking at your excitement made him somehow enjoy it. Seeing the way you lit up at the excitement of the kids around you made his love for you somehow grow. He didn't think he even knew how to love, you quite literally had to point out that what he was feeling was love. It wasn't the possession he felt over Killua, wasn't the respect he had for his father.
It was something different, something deeper.
You waved off the kids before standing up straight. A small smile stayed on your lips as you awaited the next group of children. Illumi walked towards you, once more grabbing your waist and pulling you out of your thoughts. You hummed but didn't look his way. His fingers ghosted your chin and he urged you to look up at him.
He didn't like saying it, but he knew that his looks alone told you everything you needed to know. Your smile grew and your cheeks heated up, "I love you too, Illumi"
He pressed his lips softly against yours, and you braced yourself against his chest. He tried to deepen the kiss but you stopped him, he hovered over you still, lips mere centimeters from his. He didn't love the holiday, but he did love you.
"Happy Halloween Lumi"

Kianna W/ The Zoldyck Family
Kianna (@nunezs-stuff-stuff OC) X Zoldyck Family!Platonic
Characters: Killua, Illumi, Miluki, Kalluto, Alluka.
Requested: @nunezs-stuff
Request: Original Request
Killua
⚡ As you said before Killua met her in the hunter exam however he wouldn’t have actually chosen to be her friend if Gon hadn’t spoken to her first. Given the fact that Illumi had brainwashed him already he would have avoided her. ⚡ Turns out that they became closer friends and later surrogate siblings because of the shared childhood trauma and abuse. ⚡ They both respond to a threatening situation in the same way and are able to play off of each other well, they are usually the ones to end a fight in less than a few seconds. ⚡ Killua has just as many trust issues as Kianna to be honest, they just express them in different ways given the upbringing, but they both find a mutual ground and learn to trust each other as much as they trust themselves. ⚡ Any time that Kianna gets hurt Killua is the one to help her, he wasn’t even shocked when he first saw the scars on her body considering they had spoken about their pasts before this point. ⚡ They are like a real brother and sister, so much so that people would often ask if they were related, to which Killua would often answer yes before Kianna could answer no and that was the end of it, that is until the family officially adopts her then they both answer yes without a second thought. ⚡ Cute as hell and attached at the hip and together could clean out a dessert shop.
Tumblr media
Illumi
📍 Illumi saw her as a way to keep an eye on Killua at first, he figured that he would be able to manipulate her into reporting back for ‘the good of their brother’. He later learned that it was almost impossible to manipulate her. 📍 Illumi learned quickly that she could see through all the lies that he told and opted for taking a more direct approach, he talked to her about protecting Killua. 📍 Kianna agreed to help protect Killua but only if Killua was allowed to do as he wanted. Illumi hated that idea but saw no other way to get you to work with him (Kianna immediately told Killua of the deal full transparency in their relationship). 📍 Illumi is actually impressed the first time that he saw her scars, he wondered what had caused them and when he finally found out there was a surprising amount of protectiveness that took him over, he hopes that he runs into the people who did this to her one day. 📍 Takes it upon himself to train her in the ways of an assassin, he quickly realises her views on killing which was one of the reasons that he asked you to protect Killua instead of taking on jobs like the rest of the family. 📍 It doesn’t take long for Illumi to see her as an asset, he’d likely save her from any misfortune as long as it wasn’t a choice between saving her and Killua.
Tumblr media
Milluki
🦟 Milluki connected with her on a very human level, at first he wanted nothing to do with her because she was Kiilua’s friend but then one day stumbled on her playing a game that he happened to like as well. 🦟 They shared a common love for staying in the house where they could play their games, she was the only person that he let see his figurines (because she was the only person that would respect them). 🦟 Kianna had taken on a few of Milluki’s missions if it coincided with her views and beliefs. 🦟 He learns to like you more than he likes his other siblings, appreciates her cooking when she decides that she wants to cook. 🦟 The only thing that bothered her was the method by which Milluki killed people, she hated bugs and could rarely go on missions with him because of that, she explained that to him when they actually became friends and he laughed at her but never forced her to like his mosquitos. 🦟 When they talk no one understands them, they’ll have created their own code centred around the games and foods that they like power levels based using characters from games or talking about how much they like something or someone using the food that they like. 🦟 Cute as hell together, probably the person that she’s closest to after Killua.
Tumblr media
Kalluto
👘 They both often existed in the same space without really talking to each other, that didn’t meant that they didn’t like each other, they just didn’t need to talk to each other to enjoy their time together. 👘 They never expected anything from each other and as time went on they became more open with each other, talking about anything. 👘 They shared books and talked about what they had read, it was honestly the most that either of them would speak most of the time and it was honestly kinda cute to those who could appreciate it. 👘 Easily the most normal relationship that she forged, even if they don’t see each other very often. 👘 They won’t see each other very often because Kalluto gets a lot of long standing missions and Kianna only comes back if Killua needs her to (because he doesn’t want to). 👘 Kalluto would often make things for Kianna and Kianna made food for Kalluto just to remind the other that they thought of each other (though this would only start when they got to know each other better). 👘 Long distance siblings, no matter how far is between them they will love each other greatly.
Tumblr media
Alluka
🎭 Alluka didn’t meet Kianna until she came back with Killua to break her out of the house, of course she trusted her immediately especially with how much Killua trusted her. 🎭 She loved going to cafes and listening to different types of movies with Kianna, Alluka had missed so much that anything that Kianna showed her caused a reaction of awe. 🎭 Alluka was unbelievably naive given everything that had happened to her so Kianna was protective to say the least and should anything happen she would protect her with everything that she had. 🎭 Shows Alluka all of her favourite desserts, games and places during her time out of the room, her, Killua and Alluka become inseparable. 🎭 Nanika treated her the same way that she did Killua, though Kianna had never wanted anything that she would use Nanika for. 🎭 Alluka will often seek you out when she is looking to relax, Kianna could sit in the same place for hours without bothering her and she’d even read her a story if she wanted to. 🎭 Kianna genuinely missed having a sister and cherished the new one that she had.

One of my favourite headcanon is that Illumi and Hisoka met when they were young but were separated (by life or Hisoka ruining off or maybe illu's parents) then they met later in their teens or as young adults, when they both had change so much....

Chapter 10

Chapter 9
Tumblr media
Over the years both of the assassins had gone and completed many missions, each making a name for themselves. Without realizing it, both Illumi and Noa had been competing for the top spot for best assassin. As well as they were both going and preparing for the hunters exam.
Illumi needed the hunter’s license to help him when it came to gathering information. Noa just needed the license to have under her belt, nothing of much interest to her. The both had begun their journey.
Noa had arrived first, making her applicant 47. When Noa walked in she examined all of the present applicants. The only person that caught her eye was a clown/ magician who sat and shuffled his cards. Noa was very intrigued and stared at him with complete focus, watching as he shuffled each card so quickly without a mistake. Well that was until a small card flew out of the desk but was pulled back. Surprised she uses gyo to see if there was anything , and to her surprise she notices something like gum attached to his cards..
Noa’s intense stare didn’t go unnoticed by applicant 44, in fact he enjoyed this attention. Oh how he loved being admired. He stopped his shuffling to glance up with his gold amber eyes, once he saw her eye to eye he was impressed by her unwithering stare. Noa wasn’t bothered at all, for she thrived at such tension. To be polite, like the magician he his, he passes Noa a smile, in which Noa returns one back. Always keep your friends close and your enemies closer,  though she wasn’t all too sure where to place this magician.
Without much thought Noa walks towards a wall that has a high ledge and jumps up to sit at the very top, this provides Noa with a view of all her competitions and those who will enter. Noa always knew it was better to get a bird’s eye view, always easier to see planned attacks.
One after another contestants fill the room, until a small white haired boy with his little skateboard comes in. This alone was the start of a moment she wished to avoid.
Noa (pov)
Is that Killua? No, it couldn’t be. How could he be here, he was never allowed outside of his estate grounds unless it was for practice for missions or with a butler.. Unless, Illumi is here.. I look around to try to find him, but nothing. Illumi not with killua? Something must be wrong.. I jumps off the ledge and walk towards killua, hoping that i would catch him off guard.
“ Well if it isn’t Killua.” I shuffle his hair from behind him, startling Killua in the process..
“ N-Noa?”
“ Don’t look so scared Kil, it’s just me.” I move to stand in front of him and laugh.
Killua takes a step back from me and takes an attack stance ready to fight me if I attack. “ Killua, you can relax, I do not wish to fight you, nor will I plan on it.” Killua looks at me with his intense stare contemplating if i meant my words, to which he decides that i am and relaxes.
Pft, to think he thought he could beat me in a fight.. poor boy doesn’t even know how to use nen, let alone fight me.
“ What are you doing here?” Killua asks as he avoids eye contact with me.
“ Well no particular reason, I just thought I could do it and just have the license under my belt. How about you Killua, I’m surprised you’re here, is someone with you?”
“ No, I'm here alone, I wanted to see how hard this hunter's exam was.”
“ Hmm. I’m surprised your parents let you go alone, thus, i'm under the impression that you went against them. or better, on a mission”
 “ Maybe.”
I laugh and begin walking back to my original spot, i notice that Killua doesn’t follow, so I stop to turn back and move my head in a way that says “ let’s go.” He begins following me but we are stopped by another applicant, number 16.  He greets us and introduces himself to us, and tells us that he can tell that we are rookies and new to the whole exam. I gave a side look to killua and see that he too was already looking at me.
“ Here let's toast to friendship!” Tonpa extends two cans of what looks like soda. I grab both the cans and open them before giving one to killua. The moment I open it I can tell something was added to it.. Hmm friendship you say..
Killua and I take a sip of our drinks and look at one another, I laugh to which he too laughs. Ha, he could tell it was messed with too. We finished our drinks and bid our goodbyes acting like we were buddy buddies with him.  I climb back up to my little ledge and make myself comfortable, with killua following my moves.
“ So much for friendship, he tried poisoning us already.”
“ Yeah, what an idiot! If only he knew we were trained assassins” Killua laughs and folds his arms behind his head and closes his eyes. We stayed quiet and just let the chattering in the air occupy our thoughts, well that was until Killua asks me a question.
“ Noa, why did you stop visiting us?”
“ Well I had a lot of missions, nothing personal towards you, in fact you’re my favorite Zoldyck.”
“ Well that’s a lie, your favorite zoldyck is Illumi. Hey, actually was it because of big brother that you stopped coming?”
“ Hm sure you can say illumi was once a favorite to me, but don’t worry i can promise you that you’re my favorite. As for illumi being a reason, I will neither confirm nor deny.”
“ So that’s gotta be a yes!”
“ I take it you won’t accept any other answer.”
“Only if you can give me a convincing answer.” He turns to give me a small side smirk with side eyes. I shake off his comment and give a small chuckle and continue to look at all the applicants walk in.
I keep a mental note of who I must keep an eye on, and to be honest none look like they’ll be any trouble. Well that’s until an applicant walks in.. he’s handed the badge number 301.. With every step he takes he rattles and shakes.. Much like he’s got the jitters or chills. Wait a minute.. What is he wearing… I’m no snitch but someone needs to call the fashion police. Has no one told him how terrible that outfit looks? He walks towards the magician, and begins talking with him from what I can see. Hmm, it looks like they know one another. And on that note, why do they both have a smaller waist than I do?
“ That pink haired guy looks kinda creepy.” Killua comments.
“ Hm.. Him? Oh not at all, his little partner on the other hand, terrible fashion choice.”
“ his outfit, more like his hair and what is up with his face?”
“ Don’t be rude killua!”
“ You’re one to talk, you just made fun of his outfit!” Killua yells.
We both bicker back and forth each defending our own opinion, that is until the pink haired man points in our direction. That is when we both stop to look at the two figures in the distance…
“ Wait, do you know them?” Killua asks me.
“ No.. not that i know of.”
“ well they sure know you..”
I stare back until they both look away. I jump off the ledge and dust myself off, to which Killua follows as well. I turn to look at the young boy, “ Well I'm going to walk around and see if I can learn anything.. You should do the same.”
Killua nods and bids me a goodbye without a second word. “ Killua.” I call before he gets too far from me, he turns to look at me with his cat-like eyes.
“ I wish you the best, just know i have no intention as i mentioned before to hurt you, that being said if you need anything just find me if you can, I’ll always be near. ”
“ I can handle myself.”
“ I wouldn’t doubt it, but very well, I will see you around.”
I walk away and shuffle my way through the crowd, I try my best to avoid any contact with anyone, just so I can avoid any trouble.. That was until some idiot bumps into me, I guess I’ll be nice and apologize.
“ oh I’m sorry!”
The man stops and laughs, “ yes, you should be.”
Excuse me? I’ll show you who should be sorry, “ My apologies, what did you say?” I stand with both hands interlocked in front of me with my head hanging low, to look like I'm submitting to him and really apologizing to him.
“ Can’t even hear me, it would be better for you to drop from the exam before it starts.” He chuckles and turns to face me.
Without a second thought I walk past him and gasps can be heard all around me. I’m guessing no one thought I’d do anything.. Never judge a book by its cover, “ Looks like you’re dropping first, quite literally.” I smile as I hold his heart in my hand and watch him fall to the floor. I look back at the heart in my hands and dig my fingers into the organ and rip it apart. Causing whatever blood was left in the organ to splatter around. Out of reflex I dropped the heart and caught whatever it was being thrown at me. In between my fingers I could tell it’s a card, I brought the card in front of me to see what card I held. Looks like I have the queen of hearts, how ironic. Already knowing who it belongs to, I face the magician and do his little card trick, by making the card disappear.
“ Now you see it, and now you don’t.” I smile towards the magician, to which he applauds me.
“My my.. It looks like I have a competition.”
I  walk towards him and notice his little friend stands next to him, “Competition? Well I suppose you decided we are opponents rather than allies. Fine by me, not that I see you as any competition, I would waste my time in a fight with you.”
“ A waste of time, you wound me with your words.” he dramatically throws his hand over his heart.
“ Well while you're wounded, I assume you wouldn’t mind if I took your cards.” I then hold his deck of cards in my hands. He looks at me taken back by my actions but doesn’t question it. But waves me off. I begin shuffling the cards myself, this is when I notice that his cards bend like regular cards, but sharper than a dagger in the corners.
“ So delicate flower, what is your name?”
“ Noa, Noa Lucafist.”
“ Hisoka , and this here is Gittarackur.”
“ Lovely to meet you, Hisoka and Gittarackur.”
After the introductions, we begin discussing what we are to expect in the exam. This is when i find out that Hisoka had done this before but was eliminated for such careless acts. But I couldn’t help but notice that Gittarackur kept his solid gaze on me, not once looking away. His stare alone felt familiar, intense.. Cold, yet comforting… I turn to look at him but he turns away, okay?
Just when I’m about to ask him if there’s something wrong, an announcement that the hunter exam is about to start.. This is when we all learn that we must follow the examiner.
The three of us all begin to start running to catch up with the examiner. I don't worry too much since I’ve ran countless miles for hours before. The key is to take longer strides and level your heart rate. I notice that Killua passes me with his little skateboard, letting the small breeze blow through his hair as he just relaxes. Smart boy. I continue to run at my pace until the pace begins to pick up.. Damnit, just when I was getting comfortable. With a sigh , I just pick up my pace a bit, but that is when i see others begin to fall behind and even give out completely.
How could they have already given up, we haven't even started! With my attention somewhere else I didn't notice that I had ran closer to Gittarackur and bumped into him, almost knocking myself over. But He’s quick to grab me before I could even stumble, allowing me to keep my pace without stopping.
“My apologies, and thank you.” I thanked him, but I got nothing in return. Hm, maybe he’s just an awkward man..
We continue to run for what seems like hours and I saw that more than half of the people had already dropped out.. A shame, I thought this was going to be harder. That is when i see a little boy like Killua run up past me reaching around where Killua is. Huh, another kid.  I watch the two kids and then hear some grown man begin yelling at Killua telling him to stop disrespecting the exam. But Killua isn’t bothered much by his comment, and actually seems confused. That is until the other kid backs Killua up telling the older man that it’s not an endurance test, just that we need to keep up with the examiner, smart kid.
Killua slows down to start talking with the kid and that’s when he jumps off of his board and begins running with all of us. I smile at the two kids knowing that they are probably talking about some kid things.
“ Do you know that white haired boy?” For the first time Gittarackur speaks up.
“ Why do you ask?”
“ You were with him on the ledge back in the waiting room.”
“ mm, Yes i do, someone I’ve known for years..  So if you hurt him, you will regret it.”
“ I have no such plans.”
“ Good.”
We continue to run besides each other as we begin to descend up the stairs. Hisoka seems not too bothered by any of this running as he runs with a smile on his face, such a peculiar man. He’s a transmuter that’s for sure.. That’s when it hits me, does Gittarackur know how to use nen?
“Gittarackur, may i ask you a question? “ If you must.” He rattles as he turns his head to look at me and responds.
“ Are you a nen user by chance, I imagine if Hisoka is one.. He would only surround himself with those who are of either equal or stronger levels of strength.”
“ Yes i am.”
“ Then what are you exactly? Type I mean.”
“ A manipulator.”
“ Oh.. so am I!”
“ I see.”
That is when our conversation ends, did I wish he spoke more? Most definitely, but i’ll take what i can get. I’m brought back to earth once I see light begin to fill the tunnel, finally we’ve reached the exit! I pick up my pace trying to get to the end faster rather than later.
Finally we reach the end and out of the tunnel, I walk towards where Hisoka is and behind follow his buddy. Some of the applicants that are left begin asking if this is the end of the first stage, this is when we learn that we are in the Numere Wetlands and we need to pass to get past the first stage… The examiner then begins to explain the nature of the whole land and about the creatures that live in it. but a stranger comes out all wounded, or should i say creature.. The moment “ it” popped up it began explaining what one of the creatures would want, or rather what it would want, to eat human flesh.
I laugh internally and begin grabbing the rose thorns from the little flower brooch that I wear. All the other applicants begin to make sense of the whole situation, and even begin accusing Satotz of being a false examiner.  I sing in a low voice ‘ roses are red and violets are blue, tell a lie and these thorns will kill you.” In seconds the little metal pieces pierce right through the creature.
“ Well you took away my fun delicate flower” Hisoka grins towards me.
“ There is only one room for a deceiver and it’s me, sorry hisoka.” I walk and approach the body to pull out my thorns, and shove them into my pocket. The crowd looks at me like I have just committed a crime, ungrateful is what they are.
The examiner applauds my actions but informs others that this was to be expected. Well at least I know that none of this will be too difficult.
