I was reading all your dickjay posts and im very fond of the ones where damians in (and i also read the one damijon with jon coming back and AHHHHH)

So i was wondering, what if Damian got hurt at patrón or at school and they call jaydick and these two idiot parents rush back to the manor just to find Jon taking care of Damian and are very endeared but also???? Thats their baby and jon and him have this aura of hearts fluttering around and noooo damian is too young (damian us very much embarrased but doesnt wan jon to leave)

Alright, my first and foremost thought is this being aged-up!Jon with Damian. ANd Dick reaches critical hypocrite levels with the extent in which he's (ʘ言ʘ╬) because he loves Jon, they're cool, but really? Fawning over Dick's son brother? To which Jon would make an awkward quip about Dick fawning after Dick's brother and Dick shifts to Σ(ಠิωಠิ|||) because oh damn, Jon got him there.

Beforehand though, it was a stupid happening on a mission and Damian insists he's fine although he's battered and bruised, but Jon still flies him home and helps Alfred look after him.

Jon and Damian only having all of like, twenty minutes to get cozy with each other before Dick and Jason both burst into the room and Damian clicks his tongue in annoyance because ffs

It's only because of Jon's hearing that Jon leaned back enough that they both look innocent. Which they were. Are. Still, Jon is sat on Damian's bedside and Damian is more bandage than boy at this point and it's a lot for Dick to process.

Jason doesn't bother processing the same things. He's more than aware of Damian's crush on Jon - it's whatever. Who is Jason to judge over 'inappropriate' love interests; it's a complicated situation also it's whatever he raised this boy right he's fine

Anyway, at any and every opportunity, in situations like this Jason will shove Dick out of his way. Nothing will get between a mother nanny brother and his son charge brother.

So Dick goes flying off into a wall while Jason races right on over to Damian.

Jon gets similar treatment. Despite being fully capable of being an immovable object to someone like Jason - Jon still gets sent flying. His strength is nothing compared to that of a fretting mother nanny brother.

Jon catches himself, floating back towards Dick to watch from a distance as Jason nags and frets in that way he does. Gruff, but kind. A very Damian characteristic that Jon wonders sometimes if it was influenced by Jason.

But yeah, Jon watching them with fondness.

Which Dick does, too. Until he realizes Jon is doing the same and Dick's protective tendencies come about.

That Dick recognizes he'll have to apologize to Bruce for forcing him to experience similar feelings of petulance and grief is something he's not looking forward to, but Dick gets it now; he wasn't prepared!

Dick and Jon bonding over how smitten they are for their respective ornery firecrackers though.

And Dick being very intimidating before letting Jon return to Damian's side - just a friendly clap on the shoulder and smile before giving the reminder that Damian is .𖥔 ݁ ˖𝒯𝒽ℯ ℬ𝒶𝒷𝓎.𖥔 ݁ ˖, behave (◠‿◠✿)

Dick has been Jon before don't think he can outsmart Dick for a second; Dick has pulled all the plays he knows (◠‿◠✿)

Damian sinking into his pillows because ffs something strike him down stop it immediately grayson; todd, make him stop

Which Jason does. He beckons Dick over and Dick will never not answer a call from Jason or Damian, so he goes and they sit together and check over Damian's injuries and make sure he's fine/if he needs anything/etc.

But yeah then Jason picks up on Damian wanting to be with his friend/crush, so he excuses Dick and him. Which Dick is affronted at, but Jason scoffs and makes it happen.

There are threats about the door being left open though

Then both Dick and Jason do that eye pointing thing to Jon as they slink out and Damian is composed, but so exasperated and embarrassed in his own way

And Jon adores them regardless of their protective threats and shenanigans. He adores them for how they love Damian, for how they look after and treat him.

He takes his spot beside Damian on Damian's bed again and it's easy, even after all of that.

Until Jon shudders because he feels a foreboding presence he hadn't sensed before? When he suddenly turns his head -- Dick. Peering in through the shadow of the door and Jon actually gets jumpscared and it's soft, but Jon hears it, the quiet huff of Damian's laugh.

ok this has me curious! id love to know when wukong abandons macaque first, cause i personally can't think of the time he does that. (i know tone is hard to come across via text so i want to make it clear im being 100% genuine here).

based on all the time we know wukong left macaque, he always came back to him and his intentions for leaving were to protect macaque and the monkeys on flower fruit mountain. when he left to train with subodhi, he came back after his training. we also never see macaque show any disdain for this or claim that was wukong abandoning him with the action.

then, wukong goes to the celestial realm and works as the stable boy before he gets super drunk and petty and then goes back to flower fruit mountain. macaque never shows any anger over this either, so i don't think that's abandonment.

after, wukong and the brotherhood attack the celestial realm and wukong is captured and put into the furnace and then forced under the mountain. i don't think wukong's capture counts as abandonment, especially since wukong makes it super clear that he does not want to be under that rock.

originally i thought macaque didn't know about wukong's capture like azure and the others, which could be a reasonable conclusion for him to come to; that wukong abandoned him for the celestials, but we know that macaque knows wukong was captured. macaque even visits him under the mountain. that's when macaque severs their ties and leaves wukong trapped.

also yes........ yes..!!! mk & mei are the wukong & macaque narrative parallels.... i love storytelling

its less about "macaque having to bail wukong out and indanger himself over wukong's problems" but more of like, wukong and macaque did the exact same thing, which was attacking the celestial realm. that's why wukong got caught. it's not just macaque, azure, peng, bull king and yellowtusk have some sort of moral responsibility in a way to at least try to help wukong, because all of their combined actions led to wukong taking the punishment for all of them.

i mean, sure, macaque has no reason or responsibility to bail wukong out if you look at it from that scene alone, with the "you dont owe anyone anything" mindset. but considering the other things we know, like how macaque was apart of the attack and supported wukong and fought along side him, there's a bit of a moral obligation to help wukong out since macaque's apart of the reason why wukong was captured.

HAHA lol sorry, that wasnt my intent. i want to make it clear that yeah, wukong wasnt a good person either! but i think the major distinction is that he wasnt a good person, past tense. in the show currently, wukong's a pretty alright guy, and the journey to the west helped him grow into a better person. i jsut feel it isn't necessary to mention wukong's terrible traits from the past because they arent... relevant to him in the current tense. that, along with the fact that the fandom keeps bringing it up, im focused more on mentioning macaque's terrible actions instead of wukong's because macaque is still acting that way while wukong grew as a person hundreds of years before canon. no reason to mention the terrible past of someone who's already made up for it, that kind of thing.

i feel like thats a misinterpretation of season 2 and wukong's actions, because the reason wukong "abandons" mk is to keep mk out of danger. wukong's objective is to find a way to defeat the lady bone demon without having to drag mk into it, because he feels mk isn't ready for that kind of large battle yet. he isn't leaving mk behind to go look for more power for himself, he's leaving mk in a safe place while he goes to deal with the main threat to keep mk from getting involved. he isn't quick enough, but the point still stands.

macaque steps in and even admits in the shadow play episode that he only came by to torture mk for fun ("i was gonna do the whole watch the hero be tormented by their own mistakes thing..." is what he says, which is funny because that's really relevant to wukong's character too haha).

#SWK is making the same mistake he always has. And then MK in s2 is ALSO making that same mistake#And Macaque had to be a loser about it but it is very interesting to see it from his pov.#He steps in when MK is acting that little bit too much like Wukong in all the wrong ways. (2x07 4x09)

and you've got a point! wukong has a habit of shouldering everything himself and believing he has to be the one to fix everything, since he has the most abilities and powers out of everyone... *gestures vaguely* alive, lol. that's why he keeps secrets throughout s2-3, because the way he deals with large scale threats is by keeping his cards close to his chest. given his past, i don't blame him

so true, too, cause mk's going down that path of self isolation like wukong has already done. mk's trying to spare his friends from his "burdens" (his trauma with lbd in s2 and his trauma from azure lion and the scroll in s4) and by doing so he shuts down and keeps to himself. macaque interprets this as him "abandoning his friends", but that's because macaque's a projector LOL. we already know he does that constantly. i find it interesting too, cause macaque is somehow the most empathetic person in the cast but uses that as a way to drag people down to his level, its rlly fun. i like macaque a lot

i'll be real, i don't think macaque steps in because he genuinely wants to help mk, it's more like he sees mk (season 2 specifically here) as a smaller, weaker wukong that he can actually punch around. he knows if he tried to mess with the real wukong he'd get his ass handed to him, so he goes for the easier target. in season 4, his perspective is different but it still isn't 100% in mk's favor. and also imma be real his advice was butt booty dog water bHKBHADBHKAHAH

side note that im not able to articulate that well because its late but it moderately fits this topic: macaque uses shadow play as partially a way to continue placing doubt in mk's mind about wukong. macaque has a vendetta, and so he thinks everyone else should hate wukong too, no matter how wukong acts now. macaque practically refuses to accept wukong's changed because that would mean macaque would have to self reflect and realize that he isnt all that like he acts like he is. he's very self righteous and tries to put down mk while also placing doubt and manipulating mk into disliking and not trusting wukong. he does this like every chance he gets in season 3, also

also i think that's a pretty cool way to look at it, and i def see what you mean. mk's good nature and desire to help rubbing off on macaque when wukong's couldn't is a very cool way to look at things, and also it slots into canon very nicely. macaque won't listen to wukong, mainly because they're so connected and all those centuries of baggage (six eared "i want the old wukong back and i also blame him for everything that goes wrong" macaque), but having someone new who also has some stake in their lives (wukongs successor) be the one to tell him Stop Being Weird and having it work, its very interesting.

so true! lego monkie kid's s1-3 message of the world being fine just the way it is because there's good people in it is what made me fall in love with the series at first. and also how it shows how people live their lives and keep moving despite the hardships of the world is very nice. me like. and yeah! macaque's "look out for number one" mentality is very nice and i like how that fits into his and wukongs characters. its very night and day (HA get it). wukong tries to look out for everyone else while macaque is only interested in looking out for himself. its cool , i like that. especially because it relates back to their original versions in the original story, where macaque represents the dark desires of the mind like his selfishness and spitefulness and wukong kills him as a sign of overcoming those desires and instead choosing the path towards enlightenment and doing good for others and the world.

macaque has a habit of forming full opinions and thoughts on people without properly knowing them and then sticking to those thoughts for the rest of time, not considering their ability to grow and change. mk constantly makes him have to come to terms with the fact that he is wrong and its so awesome. especially because we all know daaamn well that he saw himself in the "mei is my best friend, im not going to leave her when she needs me!" moment. its really good

Furthered by the fact that neither of these fuckers know how to talk ab their feelings. They spend months post escape being totally convinced the other hates them. Its like mutual pining but theyre both being hunted for sport so they dont really have time to talk it out

Don had years to stew over his crush on ray so hes (read: a little) more functional ab it. Ray, on the other hand, never really had time for crushes, and is hit with these very distressing newfound feelings like a ton of bricks and is an absolute disaster about it

The start of their relationship is pretty tentative, seeing as neither of them know wtf theyre doing, which leads to ice cream dates that consist of them staring at each other in silence for twenty consecutive minutes because theyre both waiting for the other to speak first

They both make up for their incompetence in verbal communication in different ways. Don is very tactile and shows affection via small bits of physical contact. Ray is more of an acts of service kind if guy, and likes to give Don random little gifts out of the blue

Once they get over the initial awkwardness tho, they are the clingiest motherfuckers alive. If they are not holding hands 24/7 they will cry and scream and wail

Laughter doesn't always come easy to him, and for long he was ashamed of her laughter. It's a snorty laugh in short quick puffs, I think it's really cute! She feels comfortable laughing around close friends tho, especially late at night after a long hang-out with candy and music :)

She want to be rebellious but in his heart, he thinks they're immovable.

They're depicted in both the ref-sheets :) So the main type of objects he's attracted to are plushies, technology, chains and sometimes buildings :) But you know, just as with other sexualities, she's not attracted to EVERY object tn these categories, just as lesbians aren't attracted to ALL girls.

She talks on the spot and use a lot of slang and some swear-words, she's quite outspoken and its emotions affect their tone a lot. Its voice is kinda deep and rough/ragged, with a growl hiding just under the surface of the voice.

Failing in things hen thought hen was good at, sharing vulnerable feelings, admitting flaws, being considered weak or mean

Kation is very confident in its sexuality and is comfortable with talking about it with anyone who wants to! It's just a casual topic to her.

A: What am I excited about these characters?

About Kation I love its design and powers and personality, I love to draw hen and Imagine hen in all kinds of scenarios, how hen interact with others, anything. Designing outfits for both Kation and Coral is super fun, about Coral i love his emotional life, her facial expressions, that she's objectum, his past, his inner conflicts and problems and worries.

B: what inspired me to create them?

Kation was created because I needed a main character in my comic. Hen is a fat, nonbinary demon cus those are all things i think we should see more in media. Well... mostly the first 2, there's a lot of demons lol. But i think those 3 things is a great combo! Coral, as first depicted here, I just drew him cus I wanted to redraw the album photo for Replicas Redux by Gary Numan (with Are 'Friends' Electric? in mind). But I didn't want to draw the guy himself so i just switched him out w a demon i designed on a whim. I liked her design a lot and decided to add her to the lore of the comic i made, and make him Kations best friend, soon with lore of his own!

I want to talk about how Techno fights I’ve decided.

So everyone who’s ever watched the guy knows he’s great at PVP, but they don’t seem to necessarily understand why. And Techno’s fighting style is actually really interesting compared to others, especially compared to what I’ve seen from other top PVPrs, like Dream.

So first, let’s talk about Dream, because Dream is well known for being a great pvper and I love remembering my boy beat him. Dream is smart and straightforward. He stays mobile but has mastered axe crits and the shield mechanics. Dream fights like a classic tank, steamrolling through hits. It’s simple, it’s effective, and it’s overwhelming - he just rolls through you like you aren’t there. Add on pearls and crossbows and you’re able to tank from a distance as well.

It’s a really popular tactic! Combined with enchanted netherite, using this tactic you become both the unrelenting force and the immovable object. Even I use this tactic to some extent. It’s easy, it’s effective, it utilizes a lot of the game’s mechanics, it’s arguably what most people expect from Minecraft PVP now, post 1.16.

Now let’s talk Techno - playing Minecraft and specifically PVP games starting with 1.8 pvp! I have actually been playing that long too, so I recognize a lot of tactics he uses from my own experience on faction servers. 1.8 focused heavily on attention, accuracy, click speed, and not getting hit in the first place because armour was way less enchantable, way less protective, and way easier to break. Obviously skywars’ games don’t require you to care about armour durability, but it’s just to keep it in mind.

But anyway, 1.8 pvp necessitates movement. You HAVE to be mobile, you have to get out the way because as soon as you stand still in front of someone, you’ve been spam-clicked by someone with a diamond sword and you’re dead, bro. You’re dead as dicks. You're deader than dead. You died before your ping even caught up to you dyin, man. 1.8 pvp is all offense and movement.

And especially in Factions PVP, something Techno mentions doing a lot on his own, the other biggest way to win a fight in 1.8 is to lag the other person out and/or make it even harder for someone to touch you with mobs. When I played factions I had a decent laptop, and the main way I defended myself was chickens. They move a lot, they update a lot, and its Really easy to get a lot of them. Similarly, you can use just about any other mob, but chickens are easiest to put wherever you want them to be. Coincidentally, you can also do this with wolves, if you've got a good enough computer to keep them all stood up around you, with the added benefit that if someone decides to fight you, you now have a swarm of mobs between you and them.

So, to break it down for you bc thats a lot of info! I'm gonna split this into two categories: Hypixel PVP and SMP PVP.

In Hypixel PVP, Techno's main strengths were experience, general skill at the game, speed, good ping, and focus. Simply put, the guy's just really fuckin Built to do 1.8 PVP and he exploits a lot of classic mistakes that players make post 1.9 - they stand still, they dont spam click, they expect armour to do more. Techno is fuckin SPEEDY, both in game and when it comes to accessing what's going on around him and sorting thru items. Its a strong combo, and hes a strong opponent.

in SMP PVP, theres a LOT more factors to think about and also to exploit. The players are there, in call with him, to be taunted. Almost everyone he plays with isn't skilled at 1.8 pvp, as well - and that leads to a few key advantages. The main one is that unlike players used to 1.16 pvp, Techno has evolved a style that keeps the spirit of 1.8’s necessary movement while compounding how much damage he’s able to do by using things like fireworks, crossbows, slowness and harming arrows, fully enchanted netherite with full prot4 and thorns3. Thorns3 is a stacking enchantment; if you have ONE item that is thorns3, there is a chance when you are hit it will do 1/2 heart of damage per hit. If you have all four pieces enchanted, you can do up to 2 hearts per time someone hits you. That’s huge, especially because Techno doesn’t use a shield regularly, hence why he never really takes his armour off.

Techno’s mixed style is something that comes as a surprise - a lot of people keep up with versions and change their fighting style as the versions change - but Techno only adapted his. He didn’t need to relearn things, just add to them. His movement is unpredictable and he uses pots like it’s second nature. Those sorts of things are what makes Techno fucking DEVASTATING as an opponent. 1.16 is a lot of standing still and holding your shield up but that shit doesn’t work when your opponent runs around like a hyperactive toddler the whole time. And technos ability to negate the usefulness of a shield - something that is absolutely OP in game - is one of his biggest strengths.

Techno’s style is a unique mix of 1.8 and all the versions following it, focused on building on skills he already had and bolstering the things he was weak with like sheildwork or axe crits. It’s absolutely fantastic and fucking genius.

For what had come of pesky demons altering time for personal interests, not even the likes of the Oracle Fish could have predicted a situation such as this. It starts with a temporal distortion recognized by Whis when he peered into the pocket dimension to check on his saiyan trainees. Not caught soon enough to prevent the outcome of change in time, however. Fortunately, it occurred in a place outside of the normal time and space and would have no direct effect on anything outside, but that did not repair the distortion around Goku and Vegeta once freed of the ethereal realm.

They had certainly become more powerful than before, but not with the divine energy they were to perfect. Something else got in the way. Some new, stranger form all together that aligned itself with their inherent beastly transformations. It’s impressive, the power overflowing from the two saiyans, but it’s wrong. Traces of the Supreme Kai of Time’s handiwork was also recognized prompting The Angel to investigate with her the reason for the distortion. It needed to be known what force of nature had the power to corrupt time itself if The Demoness and her lackeys were supposedly defeated already by The Supreme Kai of Time’s Champion?

Vegeta was taken with Whis to the Time Nest- more so to observe this transformation closely and to show how poorly Chronoa’s Time Patrol was at doing their job to allow this to happen- leaving you behind ultimately to babysit Goku just as carefully. Once Vegeta explained the other saiyan’s obnoxious behavior with yet another Goku who had shown up with another warrior, it was unanimous he stay put. The last thing needed was for an excitable Goku to break things further just to test the limits of his new form with yet another one.

So it’s just you and him. Goku and his aura burning in the air around his form. The Saiyan tested his own speed for a moment, red arms almost a blur as he threw his fists forward at nothing in particular. Then his long legs, kicking out directed higher than his head, behind him, and out in front of him matching the speed of his fists. It’s the last kick that holds your attention, the invisible force shaking the ground beneath you and creating a large wave across the lake water yards away from where you both stood. Beyond the lake, tree tops fell down like dominos as far as your eyes could see, perfectly cut through. It’s not rattling the very fabric of the universe as your battle once did, but...it’s impressive for power not of the divine ki. And for one not so far off its spectrum entirely. Curiosity reigns you in closer to him, inspecting.

“This is different. From your other forms, anyway.” You observe him with your arms held behind you, taking in the sight of expanded muscles and red fur that tore through the orange gi top, leaving nothing but its tattered remains tied around his waist with the rest of his clothing. You couldn’t ignore the long tail behind him swinging low. If you didn’t know any better, you were certain you were seeing some variation of the super saiyan forms, but also the saiyans great ape transformation. You got quite intimate with the super saiyan form to recognize the way he sustained his ki, but what continued to build upon it was a mysterious turn of events. It’s as if he was getting stronger and stagnating at the ascended level at the same time. Something that unstable wouldn’t hold out for long.

Goku’s long bangs sway when he turns to face you, bright yellow gaze sizing you up and giving you a crooked, toothy smirk that showed off the sharp canines when he spoke. “What do you say? Care to see what I can do, Lady (y/n)?” The Saiyan challenged, folding his arms against his broad chest in his straightened, tall stance.

You scoffed at the offer, turning your nose up at him and dismissively fanning your hand. “And have you throwing that distorted time energy around my planet carelessly? I think not.” Goku looked offended by that.

“You’re not even a little tempted to test my strength?” He follows up with a soft tilt. You turn your back to him completely and give a disengaged shrug starting to walk off.

“Just standing there, you are burning through this new transformation already. You’re on borrowed time with that power.” You point out to him, casting a glance over your shoulder at him. “So again, no. I’m not tempted by a disappointing repeat performance.”

“Heh, I doubt that.” You hear the saiyan’s voice chuckle in your ear, halting you mid-step with wide eyes. Turning, you find him occupying the space beside you now and looking over to where he previously stood completely vacant of him. Impossible! There was no way this power was that fast you couldn’t detect it moving around you. Definitely...not impressive.

“What’s the matter? I didn’t surprise you, did I Lady (y/n)?”

With a narrowed gaze you turn back to him, meeting that arrogant leer of his once again accompanied by that smirk. “...Careful, saiyan. Don’t go being more trouble than you’re worth.” Goku laughs in response, making your brow twitch.

“I gotta admit, that’s not easy for me. But if my power is so bad, maybe you should destroy me.” Once more trying to tempt you, Goku leans down to your eye level, staring you down through his bangs. “If you can.”

You feel your glare hardened and jaw clench. When you opened your mouth again and sharply sucked in air ready to give this wretched, red thing a piece of your mind, everything that followed just blurred into a single, swift motion. Your powers did clash, briefly. Harshly. This power of his was raw against your destructive might. There was no denying the fighting thrill it surfaced in you, drawing out your wrath the way his Super Saiyan God form had done before. Even if he knew he was outmatched, his charge was a relentless one and defense seemed to absorb the physical blows to his body while his power healed him in real-time, allowing him to push through, if not match, the amount of power you were putting out. Leave it to Goku to continue to be full of surprises.

But again, your battle was a brief one. Not because you had exhausted the saiyan of his power as you were expecting to, but because your tactics changed. Like an instinctual response out of frustration, you bit him. Goku retaliated, binding you in a split-second grab and biting you back on your shoulder. Breaking skin with his sharp fangs. It was reminiscent of the way he had bitten you in your divine battle, but more closely to the way he bit into you when he wanted to come inside you.

When the two saiyans surrendered their wills and bodies to you, when you held the moaning, larger super saiyan between your legs as he bucked into your contracting pussy against Vegeta’s pounding at your ass. The sound you made in response to the bite halted Goku’s desire to continue fighting you.

((I think the most frustrating part of watching people analyze the actions of characters in vol8 is that the biggest complaint is that logic is thrown out the window and I would argue that’s the point. Especially because of the perspective of the show. I really hate to keep picking on Ironwood, Qrow, and RWBY, but those characters are the ones driving the plot, so I guess we gotta.

Lets start with RWBY. They’re kids first off. WBY are all about 19-20 years old and Ruby is 17. Lets start off by saying those are ages not exactly known for smart, long term decision making. Most people that age are trying to figure out what they want to do for the rest of their lives, struggling with college, dates, drinking, sex for the first time. They’re stumbling around in adult bodies while still having more or less the mind of a teenager because society has suddenly stopped treating them like a kid and expects them to be an adult. Except instead of having to struggle with decisions about their near future, RWBY is being asked to save the world. If you think you could handle that pressure well at 17-19, you’re lying. 

Does it make their decisions right though? No. The way they treated Ozpin for hiding the worst of his abuse and the fact that his ex-wife was an insane bitch who is functionally immortal is wrong. But again, I ask you, could you handle having all that dumped into your lap in an already stressful situation? The person who should be (and rightly is) condemned for his reaction is Qrow for throwing a punch. No matter how upset you are no hitting. Once you throw a punch in that situation, you’re the bad guy. And until he makes an effort of an apology he’s the bad guy in that situation. 

The biggest problem that team RWBY has is that all of their terrible decisions throughout the show have either been rewarded, or the got bailed out from having to see the real consequences. 

Ozpin allowed Blake to hide her White Fang past and therefore missed the least subtle component of the Fall of Beacon. Things could have been significantly less bad if he’d known about their involvement and was able to send Qrow in to spy on their operations. Maybe he could have figured out what Roman or Adam was up to, realized they were working for Cinder and by extension Salem.

Ozpin allowed team RWBY to do a mission that was a couple grades too advanced for them because he knew they’d break the rules otherwise. That was a tacit acknowledgement that he thought whatever they were up to was alright, and that they had his blessings on whatever it was that they wanted to do.

The best example of terrible decision after terrible decision that RWBYJNR makes is Argus. They have no idea how they’re getting the Relic to Atlas, and they seem road blocked. Jaune suggests stealing an airship, and Qrow, the adult in the room tells them that this is a bad idea, and if it goes bad it has the potential to screw up their entire life. He’s right. The problem is that he’d run off on his bender, and therefore the kids, and we in the audience, are supposed to see this as an unreasonable suggestion. 

However, it plays out as him being right. The incredibly complicated plan did go wrong. Now, they had no reason to suspect at the time that Adam was stalking Blake at the time (and I could go into why thats perfectly ic for him at another date), but there were a lot of moving parts in this plan and literally any of them could have broken. Everything that happened after they put this plan into motion was reactionary. Cordovan, obsessed with showing the Might of Atlas (TM), jumped into the mech suit. At that point, Ruby didnt really have a choice of not breaking it. But the ensuing fight created enough general unease that it summoned a Grimm hoard.

By rights, Argus should have fallen because of their bad decisions and in spire of their best efforts. Instead, Cordovan had a change of heart at the last moment and bailed them out.

This just reinforced the flawed idea that RWBY is always in the right and directly lead to s7′s climax. They are the unstoppable force.

Now you have Ironwood, quite literally the unmovable object, which I now realize is sort of his name. Ha.

Ironwood’s behavior does not come out of nowhere. Since his appearance, he’s had problem stamped all over him. He showed up with an entire goddamn army to a supposedly peaceful event that is to promote unity and the excellence of each kingdom. His rationale is that the people are going to be impressed with his big guns and feel safe. Ozpin gently points out that those big guns also signal to people that there is something out there that those big guns are designed to shoot. 

If its not a Grimm, could it mean that Atlas intends to shoot people?

Remember we’re not even 100 years out from the last World War, one that was basically started by Atlas. People are nervous. There are still grandparents and great grandparents alive today that were kids when the Great War was happening. Not only that but we’re also made aware that Atlas has rolled in the apolitical protectors of the people, the Huntsmen, into its military. This elite fighting force that is basically above the law and can go to any country in the world whenever they want, is now part of the military. The ONLY standing military that Remnant seems to have.

All of this has obviously caused friction in the Inner Circle. Qrow is not quite and never has been quiet about his disdain for James’ heavy handed techniques. Glynda calls James’ actions a dick measuring competition, and Ozpin was trying to be gentle about it, but he was clearly telling Ironwood to get his army off his fucking front lawn. And what did Ironwood do? He’d gone around Ozpin and talked to the Vale council.  They were threatening to remove Oz fro his position because they agreed with Ironwood: he was being too passive. Ironwood even tells Glynda that he cant believe that a man he trusted for so long would just sit by and stand to the side instead of meeting the problem head on. He didnt seem to understand why Qrow would want to go gather intelligence on an operation before sending in the big guns. 

Ironwood has never been a man to put a well thought out plan with all his ducks in a row into motion. This is a man who plows through opposition at every opportunity.

And when we see him again, we can see him steamrolling through opposition again. Somehow he got himself two seats on the council. That gives him an enormous amount of power. And his position as general means that at any point he can declare an emergency and become the de facto dictator of Atlas if he deems it fit. The problem is that he’s having these arguments against Jacques Schnee a man that the audience rightly hates, so he seems reasonable. Who gives a fuck about Jacques loosing business, he’s a dickhead. We’re not noticing the fact that James is consolidating power, or that he’s using that power to make unilateral decisions with no one telling him no.

There’s no one left in the room who is able or willing to tell him that these are bad ideas, that there will be consequences that he cant foresee. His  bullish behavior lead to both Robyn Hill and Jacques Schnee running for an empty council seat, and that created the environment that we walked into in s7.

Now, not all James’ ideas are bad. The Amity Project is actually a really good one, and James is right in wanting to keep it from the general public until its near completion. But you know who should have known? The other fucking council members. Probably the candidates. Playing your cards too close to the chest when you clearly need help and allies is a bad thing. But again, James didnt even trust Ozpin to be able to run his own kingdom, so durr hurr of course he’s the only one who can take care of Amity. And run a kingdom. And run an academy. And protect an ageing, ailing Maiden. And of course he doesnt have time to treat his horrific PTSD from the Fall of Beacon.

So when things go tits up because again, of course they will with a plan that complex James Ironwood doubles the fuck down on his terrible solo decision making. Clearly, non of this is his fault. No one is listening to him. He cannot trust others to make decisions so he’s going to make all of them. There’s no one around him to tell him no, especially because the first person that tried was publicly executed. 

James is scared. He’s had a mental break because of that fear. His paranoia, his PTSD, and the fact that there’s nothing there to help him back to stability means that he’s just going to be bouncing from one terrible choice to the next. He’s Hamlet in the throes of paranoia, heading down a road that is going to get everyone, including himself killed. He is King Lear as the world crumbles around him, acting cruel and making unreasonable, horrible demands of those around him. 

Working with Watts seems like an absolutely terrible idea, but to someone who thinks that he is in control of the situation because he has to be in order to keep functioning, there’s no way that this can bite him in the ass. For James, if no one is willing to follow his orders, he’s going to make them. This attitude is probably exactly why Watts did what he did and joined Salem in the first place. 

So when you combine the unstoppable force of Team RWBY, who’s been told they’re the child saviors of the world, and who’ve been either rewarded or bailed out of their bad decisions against the immovable object of Ironwood and his absolute conviction in himself, you have the mess Atlas is in now.

Honestly I find it kind of brilliant.

im trying to read through tae kim’s grammar guide right now because i’m officially further in the nukemarine LLJ  memrise decks (there’s tae kim grammar guide sections in there) than i am in actually reading the grammar guide. And obviously these example sentences in the memrise deck would teach me more if i CLEARLY understood why they’re like how they are. which i... need to read the grammar guide section to understand lol.

my goal rn with japanese is? to get further in the nukemarine LLJ decks than i did last time. I’ve already mildly accomplished that (have done officially MORE of the tae kim section than before, have NOT redone the 190 common words i did last time i did this though). there are about 400 more cards in this tae kim section (LLJ 4) and then 1000ish cards in the common word section (LLJ 5). I would love to get them done. 

it would be sweet if i could get them done before April 22?/24? whenever Nier Replicant comes out because then I could play that baby in english and japanese! Then Nier Automata! ToT The Entire thing that kicked me back into wanting to study japanese was my old love for certain video games and desperately wanting to know what their stories/characters are like before translation/localization. So it would be cool if I could play them a little ;-; or at least check out lets plays. 

(which, checking out the kh2 lets play has been going pretty well so far... also that part where namine says “we aren’t meant to exist” and roxas says “how could you say such a thing? even if it were true” he says in japanese like “thats brutal/harsh to say. even if its true.” ...great to know that line is equally raw and heartbreaking in japanese lol. KH2′s localization did real good on like equal vibe to original just like ‘less nuanced’ if that makes sense. also thanks to the chinese hanzi i know now watching the KH2 lets play means i can figure out a lot of noun’s writing even though i don’t catch the pronunciation... also i’m catching a lot of words that mean like ‘beautiful/good’ as in like ‘great move’ and ‘dang’ lol.)

And i really don’t need to waste time redoing those 2000 cards. i also needed to stop myself from doing the hsk 5-6 cards. because realistically? i know half of them, i should just set a lot to ‘ignore’ on the computer but im too lazy, and i’m learning a lot of vocab from reading right now. i don’t need hsk words to pass any test. The words i’m learning right now in reading are a lot more applicable to the actual shows i watch/things i listen to/things i read. its more useful to me to keep reading. and also to not sidetrack my japanese lol. i have read... 39 chapters this month... this month is only half over! hanshe is truly motivating ToT it also helps the story CONSTANTLY ends on cliffhangers so i keep clicking next chapter. who knows, maybe hanshe will help me kick up my reading speed. it already shaved off 10 minutes per 20 pages - now my 20 pages are down to 30 minutes to read, which is better than a few months ago. hanshe has 155 chapters so i HOPE it speeds up my reading lol.

hanshe is increasing my vocab though, its definitely noticeable over time. and hanshe has really good repetition of vocab which helps with learning and later the payoff means i never have to look up the word in future once its learned while it remains useful to me and i keep being reminded of it. after i get bored of hanshe OR i finish it, whichever comes first, its either back to a priest novel or into another pingxie fanfic written by hanshe’s author. The author did one fanfic that’s only 33 chapters so that would be NICE to do after this one lol ToT

summary of what’s turned out to be my studying methods this month:

Japanese:

reading through grammar guides (the one yue-muffin made and tae kim’s). so just grammar explanation reading.

doing nukemarine LLJ decks (in the ACTUAL order they are in the deck to completion - last time i did like 3 per time and never finished any lol. this is bolded because it’s the primary activity i’m prioritizing). so SRS flashcards. it’s working well right now because i can just put this activity in anytime i have downtime, like when i pause shows (since we know me i gotta take a break from a show every 20 minutes lol). i am bafflingly in a flashcard mood and i’m trying to take advantage of it while i got it. 

*when i feel like it: watching kh2 lets play. so some immersion where i look up words. (and when Nier Replicant remaster releases next month I’m likely to at least a tiny bit try to play it in japanese ToT lol we’ll see)

so grammar reading, srs flashcards covering some grammar/listening/reading/vocab, and some optional immersion.

(a note: i gave up on the japaneseaudiolessons for now because i got bored. its a great resource! i just don’t feel like it right now. and from an efficiency perspective, nukemarine LLJ decks cover vocab, grammar, audio, reading - so I don’t need another resource for that right now).

Chinese:

reading through hanshe. so immersion reading, intensive reading looking up unknown words. (unknown words are happening less so its getting less ‘intense’ lol)

listening to Chinese Spoonfed Audio. so listening to audio flashcards. for building up listening comprehension/repetition to pick up some more common words. (i’ve been doing this during daily walks making it much easier for me to consistently do, doing it mainly to supplement the Reading Heavy study i’m doing, i can drop this and pick it up later if i want since its mostly easy background listening)

*I am slowly rereading the grammar guide on www.chinese-grammar.com for explicit grammar clarification. but this is not a high priority, since I sort of implicitly understand a lot of this and i’m not working on fixing production mistakes yet. i just... miss knowing wtf is going on in the grammar lol.

*when i feel like it: Listening Reading The Glass Maiden/Love and Redemption Novel. I’ve done 2-3 hours of it this past week, but i don’t know when or if I’ll just stop. Thankfully l-r is beneficial somewhat even if i switch up books later. i WANT to L-R you have no idea (to Silent Reading and Guardian REALLY badly lol). But its so time intensive, and requires a lot of focus, and i have to really plan to do it for an hour at a time usually. I am so bad at doing stuff for that long consistently. I was in the mood earlier this week! ToT 

*when i feel like it: watching chinese shows raw. I was super in the mood this month because Word of Honor came out, and Killer and Healer came out, and Rattan came out, and I didn’t want to wait for subs. As a result I watched a LOT of raw episodes this month. However, english subs have caught up and since I’m lazy I’m inclined to just watch the subs - especially since youku ITSELF just put english subs on their most-ahead viewing schedule version of the eps on youku vip. so guess who’s buying youuku vip today? -3-)/ That said... even if I stop for a while, if Rattan subs move too slow I’ll probably watch those raw. And as SOON as 2ha’s drama Immortality drops I am highly likely to watch the raws for that since I likely won’t be able to wait. Watching shows is pretty highly dependent on how much I want to watch something and if subs take a while lol. 

so reading, and listening. and a little listening-reading method too. mainly just working on reading, listening, vocab acquisition. chinese is going good - for a few months now i’ve just had the plan ‘read often while looking up unknown words, and add some listening study activity when i have time.’ It’s simple, and its been working well.  later on down the road i’ll need some explicit grammar clarification again, but this is bare bones enough of a study plan at the moment. i’m clearly picking up words and phrases and hanzi at a reasonable pace. its not the Fastest obviously, but it is causing improvement over time and since i’m enjoying it i see no reason to change it up.

...who knows WHY i am so well focused this month with so much energy... tbh... i track how many chapters i read a month/audio i listen to/show episodes i watch etc, and this month is like as much as 3 other of my usual months combined. also my japanese has been basically ‘dabbling only’ prior to this month.

 although... maybe in part its how i’ve gotten better at reading hanshe? Reading being easier certainly motivates me TO read more. And watching shows was MUCH easier this month (still not ‘easy’ but following the main plot is) which definitely makes me Want to watch more. Also i am... unbelievably motivated by a challenge. I think i got it in my head that i ‘really want to do more of Nukemarine’s LLJ courses and see how much i understand after them’ and now... i really want them DONE. so maybe the current things motivating me will hold out for a while. 

(On the listening-reading front meanwhile, that activity takes SO much concentration its hard to do if i’m tired, BUT i have so many TRANSLATED novels i want to read recently and honestly its fun hearing the chinese narration and audiobook actors so like... i very much Want to do l-r so i can hear them as i read the translation... immovable object of me tired versus how much i’m interested in them lol ToT).

Ok hot drinks first bc thats easier. Love them. Fav thing. Tea and hot chocolate are my fav but i dont make a good hot chocolate so i mostly drink cappuccinos instead,, fav tea is green tea and fav cappuccino hmm idk actually but i like it like moderately sweet. Had a raspberry one that was TOO sweet few days ago i barely drank it. Hnsgsndnd songxues..... This is gonna be so incoherent but. well first i love enemies to lover trope its my fav and they fit so well in there.. there is something about a person who sees how bad and fucked up you are and decides that youre worthwhile anyway. I love banter!! I love hate sex/fuckbuddies that turn into emotional sex and slow kisses in the morning!! I love them in contrast to how they are with xingchen bc they both see him as this perfect being and nearly a saint (which hes not) but see each other as the Worst but they also like. Understand each other better. They both have that bitterness and anger that xingchen never does and doesnt really Get but they Do if only they ever. Talked. Also v v in love with all instances of song lan hating xue yangs guts bc all xue yang ever shows him are his sharp edges but then he gets a glimpse of the xue yang that stayed three years in yi city, the xue yang who is at his best when hes allowed to be small and domestic and loved, and seeing that makes him think. It again goes back to that oh okay. This person is worth me sticking around and putting some effort in and i want to make it work. And on xue yang side i think its more like.. Song lan is this immovable object, he doesnt care for anything xue yang does, he doesnt react to him the way xue yang wants, and xue yang wants to be noticed more than anything and especially by this emotionless jerk, and then he doesnt know what to do with that attention (bc when does he). Anyway i think theyre a whole mess but theyre intense and love strongly and also dont know how to communicate. What more can u ask for

I decided to design a quirkless vigilante deku! His vigilante name is Asteroid (mainly just bc it sounds cool and matches the jacket that he found at a thrift shop).

Info about his gear and backstory under the cut!

If you can’t read the picture, it says little details about his gear. 

He has gloves for hand to hand combat, which is his main specialty.  

His mask has a voice modifier built in, with buttons and knobs so that he can change the volume, what voice he is using, turn it off, change the pitch, or mute his voice in general.

He has a knife that he only uses in emergencies, and hes only willing to use it on villain’s arms and legs so he doesn’t critically hurt them

He has eskrima rods, which is what he mainly uses when hand to hand won’t suffice

He has a FAKE gun, which he uses for intimidation purposes in emergencies

He has a backpack, which is thin enough that he can hide it under his jacket

He keeps a gps tracker on him, which he can stick onto a villain or can be used to track him if he is kidnapped

He has a first aid kit for obvious reasons

He keeps no less than 3 water bottles on him because hydration is key to success

He has a burner phone that he can use to call the police or family or whatever in emergencies

He keeps a locked notebook on him, so he can take confidential notes about villains and important events

As for his backstory, he’s still quirkless. After coming home injured from being bullied too many times, Inko signs him up for martial arts and self defense classes. She knows that he’ll need them in the future due to prejudice against quirkless people, but he ends up really enjoying them. He ends up taking multiple disciplines, and going into competitions.

However, he still wants to be a hero to help people, so Inko ends up going with him to start volunteering at soup kitchens, clean ups, etc. At first he doesn’t really get it, but as he volunteers more he becomes more invested in helping other people in small ways. He starts volunteering at bigger projects, like building houses for the homeless, to try and make a difference.

Because of this and school, he doesn’t have as much time for quirk analysis, but he still enjoys theorizing and talking about quirks on forums. He’s rarely at school outside of class due to training and volunteering, so he isn’t bullied all that much either.

However, the years of bullying from his childhood left their mark, and he is very shy and doesn’t trust easily. He has to work in the back at soup kitchens, because he cant handle interacting with so many people at once when helping serve. At clean ups and builds, aside from other people he sees there regularly, he keeps to himself. He doesn’t have any friends from martial arts classes or school, either.

Not to mention his self doubt issues. Despite what everyone says about him being a hard worker or helping others, he has a hard time believing it. 

He never actually intended to become a vigilante. However, one day on the way home he passed by someone who was being mugged in an alley. And because of his nature to help whenever he can, he used his martial arts skills to easily take down the villain. The person thanked him profusely, but he deflected the praise, saying that helping people wasn’t anything special. The person wouldn’t budge, and finally he relented and took a coupon they offered him, and went on his way.

And then it happened again. And again. And again.

By the 20th time, people begin to talk about it. Sure, its nothing big - just a forum thread with less than 100 views, but still, people know him. People think hes a vigilante. 

This isn’t exactly an ideal situation, but he can’t stop himself from helping others. Which leads to him defending a pink haired girl from some bullies who were beating her up.

Thats how he meets Hatsume Mei, 13 year old genius, same age as him. She insists on making him his friend, which he can’t argue against because a. he would like a friends, but friendship is hard b. Hatsume Mei is an unstoppable force, and Izuku is the furthest thing from an immovable object.

And then one day, while their hanging out, Izuku once again steps in to stop a purse snatcher, and Mei has a realization.  

“Hey, are you like, a vigilante or something?”

“Uh, I don’t think so? I just step in when someone is in trouble, which happens, uh, a lot.”

“So you’re a vigilante.”

Despite clarifying that he, a quirkless 13 year old is not a vigilante, Mei decides she will be his tech support. Plus, its good practice to try and get into UA by building Izuku some gear.

So that how Izuku ends up with a thrift shop hoodie with a shit ton of kevlar sewn in, other sturdy gear, some combat boots painted green with stars to match his hoodie, a back pack, a tool belt, and some self defense weapons. In order to not give his mom a heart attack by coming home with a stab wound, he and mei sewed kevlar into just about everything he was wearing, and he kept a gps tracker on him at all times so that, if he was kidnapped, they could find him.

Mei eventually also builds him some smoke bombs, flash bangs, and pepper spray, and in the process of helping her he realizes “oh hey, building things is fun and im good at it.” He even builds himself a pair of goggles with a zoom function, barely needing her help.

He mainly deals with small crime- the things police and heroes don’t notice, but he makes a name for himself. He tells everyone that he is Asteroid- small compared to planets, but still bright enough to be seen in the sky. No one knows who he really is because he covers his freckles with make up, he has a mask with a voice modifier, and he covers his hair with the hoodie, but they still thank his vigilante persona. One girl invited him to go to the bar with her and her friends, and two guys have tried to give him money as thanks.

Being a vigilante was actually pretty fun. He and Mei worked together to build better gear, and all the research that building gear required helped him do good in his science classes also. His teacher recommends him going for a tech school, or even UA’s general or support department.

He would like to go to UA with Mei, but he isn’t an idiot. Anyone who has been online knows who Asteroid is. There are multiple hero forum posts about him, and theres a small subreddit filled with people thanking him for helping them. One wrong move and someone at UA would realize who he is, and he’d be arrested. Sure, it isn’t technically vigilantism because he doesn’t have a quirk, but he’s still using force against others, and he doubts that smoke bombs are something a 14 year old is allowed to have. So, hero school is out of the question.

He thinks about tech school, and almost has his mind set until one night, he finds a villain with a fire quirk. He has scars on his face, and has cornered a few girls in an alley. So Izuku steps in, and probably has his first real fight.

Sure, he’s been in skirmishes before, but nothing as extreme as this. The girls get an opening to run away, but Izuku doesn’t. This guy knows how to fight, and how to use his quirk to help him fight. Izuku is almost impressed. They trade blow for blow. The man with the fire quirk is wearing extremely thin clothes, so he feels Izuku’s blows harder, but Izuku is getting burned easily. Just barely, however, Izuku manages to knock him hard on the head with an eskrima rod (not how it was intended to be used, but it works), sending him down. Some zipties and pinching some pressure points, and the man is completely down. 

As he walks away, nursing his wounds, he thinks about what could’ve been done better. If his fabric was fire proof, he wouldn’t have been burned as hard. If he had something like a taser to shock enemies, he would’ve gone down faster. If he had better gloves, his knuckles wouldn’t be so bloody after that fight. It goes on and on. 

And Izuku knows the best way to gain access to those materials is UA’s support department. 

He calls Mei that night, and with a sigh, reveals probably he stupidest idea since becoming a vigilante.

Life is full of surprises, everyone knows that. But there are a few universal truths even the most skeptical refuse to dispute. The sun rises in the east. Death. Gravity. Taxes….and a man pursued by Endeavor is a man already in chains.  

The current no. 1 hero had an irrefutable record of success. ‘Endeavor will catch his criminal’ and ‘water is wet’ score the same on the cosmic truth scale and it is this fact that keeps the general public tolerant of the other inarguable truths that surround him.

Endeavor is an ass. Endeavor is a bully. Endeavor has nothing even close to a bedside manner. Endeavor always plays to win.

And if there is one true golden rule. A law of nature that trumps all other physical and theoretical laws…it would be this

Never. Ever stand between Endeavor and his prize.

Man, woman, child, building, river, ocean wide…there are no immovable objects to the unyealding force that is the Flame Hero Enji Todoroki.

The building was small and quaint…less like an office and more like the home of a family man with a respectable job and a reasonable paycheck. If it were not for the small sign out front no one would suspect it for what it was.

Funny enough the same could be said of the man currently standing just outside its simply iron gates. Both building and boy where attractive in a way that actively prevented them from standing out. Sweet, inviting face and open posture. Small, but graceful in stature. Large green eyes that seemed to positively sparkle with life and a healthy dusting of freckles like cinnamon on a morning latte. His strangest feature was his hair. It was an unusual shade, almost black from most viewpoints. However, when the light caught a stray strand or the sun danced full force above one could finally see the truth. Like a diamond illuminated by a perfectly placed glow his soft curls and gentle waives lit up a deep earthly green, like a forest at sunrise. An emerald in the rough.

Not that this sort of thought had ever even begun to cross the mind below the messy tussle of hair. No. The word that came to mind…that had always come to mind…when someone was asked to describe Midoriya Izuku in a single phrase…was plain. He took no issue with this. It was just true. Like the sun. Like gravity. Like taxes.

But to Midoriya Izuku the building he now stood before was anything but. To him it was a palace. A beacon of light. Sacred, hollowed ground he still wasn’t convinced he deserved to enter. But enter he did. With one scarred and shaking hand he gripped the cold metal of the gate and took the first steps into his destiny. Any sensation he had felt in his 3 years at U.A. paled in comparison to now. A week ago he has stood on a stage in front of gods and men alike to receive what had once been the fever dream of a small quirkless child.  

He had cried then. Unashamed and unbridled tears of joy and relief and wonder. Tears that did not stop as he held hands with his classmates and announced themselves to the world for the very first time as heros. Tears he had shared with many as he wrapped his arms around familiar forms and traded promises to keep in touch. To not forget. Tears of pain and sorrow as he watched his brothers and sisters each, one by one, turn and walk out of the gates for what was both a first and a final time until only one remained…until they had been alone.

He shook his head, attempting to chase the bittersweet from his mind. His eyes were dry now but the feeling in his chest was the same as he reached out and pressed the doorbell with fire in his soul and determination in his face.

Nothing happened. He pressed it again and stood back. Waiting. Nothing. He began to fidget as his resolve began to slip. Doubt crept in slowly. Was he early? Was he late?! Was this the wrong address? Had they reconsidered? By the time the door opened Midoriya was half way into a panic attack with the image of the office staff hunkered down under desks and behind plants as they quietly prayed the nuisance of a rejected sidekick would just leave already.

But open the door did to reveal a woman about the same height as he was. Her attention was on something behind her as she shot a half annoyed half teasing remark over her shoulder. In her hand she held two large trash bags full of what could only be assumed was trash.

“Alright! Im doing it, no need to nag. God this is why I hate when you come to visit – oh!”

It was evident that whatever she had expected to find on the large covered porch beyond the door she had just opened it was not an attractive young man in a cotton t-shirt and slacks awkwardly picking at the strap of a gym bag slung over his shoulder and a large rolling suitcase at his feet.

“Can I help you?” she had a kind, musical voice and an accent that was undoubtably American. She punctuated her question with a quisical cock of her head, like a dog trying to pick up the sound of a fox in the brush. It was a tick he would come to know very well in the coming months as proof of her formidability but for now the almost childlike quality of it stilled his fraying nerves. The sharpness of her eyes however, a blue so cold and light he almost shivered involuntarily, did nothing to still his pounding heart.

“I’m..um..My name is Midoriya Izuku- Deku. Im the hero Deku. Im supposed to start..um…today” He almost winced. Talking to girls, particularly attractive older woman, had never been something he was particularly adept at. And the color of her eyes where just a little to intimate not to conjure up ill timed memories…Though she did have one more than he was used to.

Suddenly, like clouds parting over a frozen lake, her eyes warmed into the calm sea surrounding some tropical paradise. She smiled wide and giggled. It wasn’t a laugh, lacking the adult-like restraint the word demanded…it was a genuine sound of joy and amusement usually reserved for small children and silly girls. It made Izuku smile despite the emotional whiplash the last few moments had been.

“Oh shit, really?!” his smile faltered a bit so she clarified “I didn’t realize that was today. Welcome Welcome!”

She took a step forward and embraced him. So taken aback by the action was Midoriya that he simply stood there and allowed it to happen. Had she been a classmate or a woman his mother’s age he would have expected it but this woman was maybe 4 or 5 years older than he was. Possibly less. Hes head swam. He could count on one hand the number of times he had been this close to a woman he wasn’t related to…

“Who-Mika!” All Might saves the day once more as his small, thin frame appears behind the creature currently assaulting his physical and mental space. She let him go and half turned with a clear ‘what?!’ written across her face. “At least put down the trash!”

Two pairs of eyes blinked at him, confused. Then in unison both looked down at the bags still clutched in her hands.

“Oh. Oh my…” her face flushed red as she very carefully placed the bags down beside the door as if they where filled with something very precious or very volatile. She turned back to Midoriya with a look of horror so over the top he had to restrain a smile. “I am so sorry! So sorry. I cant even- I promise its just papers and stuff. Not that that really makes it better. But I mean…”

She shook her head and picked up the bags again and without saying anything else carefully stepped around him and began down the walk towards the street.

“Where are you going?! The trash it around the side.” All Might called as he came to stand beside his protégé. “Mika!”

“Im going to take it down to the dumpster. Maybe throw myself in front of a bus.” She paused and turn around as she got to the gate. “Oh, It was very nice to meet you Midoriya Izuku!”

As green eyes, full of confusion and bewilderment, followed her hasty exit the boy allowed his former teacher and mentor to usher him inside with a laugh. And so their first meeting had concluded. A strange, awkward and all around unimpressive encounter between two unknown and seemingly mundane individuals. Despite all of this however, this odd collision between strangers would mark the beginning of something far more prodigious…more breathtaking…more dangerous than anyone involved could have possibly imagined.

What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?I MEAN he’s sixteen he’s still technically a child but basically the most common thing he hears is stop slacking and work harder. being an asian kid getting As is? absolutely crucial he’ll be smacked upside the head by his parents if he doesn’t so they always tell him to stop slacking tf off n actually study for once (tbh it’s fine he’s a genius practically he gets As easier than u can say banana split)

Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?absolutely and he doesn’t rlly remember but he thinks it was “shit”

What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?once he set out twenty peeps just behind the wheels of his mom’s car and when she backed out the entire wheels got covered in peeps and when she came home saying there was all this weird gooey stuff on her wheels and looked pointedly at him. he just blurted out that it was god exacting judgement on her for her sins. it didn’t end well. he ended up washing the entire car by himself. it still haunts him to this day

How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?he’ll literally just say “what the fuck” and laugh

How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?whine about it until someone scratches it for him dependent on how comfy he is around the ppl he’s with. if he’s not comfy around the ppl he’s w he’ll just sulk internally or scurry off to the bathroom and like, rub his back (presumptively that’s where he can’t reach) against the edge of the stall until the itch is gone bc he’s high

What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?he thinks he looks best in all colors also he doesn’t rlly care abt fashion. he looks best in HM like purple or royal blue??

Why do they get up in the morning? his mom makes him get up for school otherwise what is leaving his bed when he can just pull his comp onto his lap while STAYING in his bed and game from there

How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)? oh he’s very possessive. he’ll defo keep whatever he’s worried abt losing close by to start and if it’s a person- friend or s/o- he’s going to be touching them a lot more. a hand on the back, a hug at the side, running his hands through their hair casually. anything to assert that no back off ur not taking them from me. but if it continues, which it v well may, knowing him, he’s going to start getting snarky n verbally fighting the other person. basically Messy pls reassure him if u are the object of his affections and he’s getting side-eye emoji abt someone 

How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)? he defo becomes resentful a bit. like he doesn’t get envious over most things- it’s mostly fear of losing the thing once he has it- but when it does he will get resentful and hole up a bit and generally just seem a little ticked

Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?yeah he’s comfy talking abt sex. prbly a little too comfy. so basically anyone willing to engage him in the conversation topic will likely hear abt it but he’s calmed down ever since he got involved w sev

What are their thoughts on marriage?marriage is good? but far off and amorphous in his mind. for the most part he’s like there’s nothing wrong w it but it crosses his mind EXTREMELY infrequently   

What is their preferred mode of transportation? preferably in the back of a private plane, squirrel suit gliding or on a giant eagle, none of which he’s ever experienced in his life. but out of the things he has he is fond of sailing when it’s calm out bc he does get seasick a tiny bit. he likes fast cars too

Or a joke? it’s honestly whatever’s the most recent thing he observed, heard or experienced when it comes to stories. he has no shortage of words to say and his fav sort of memes and jokes are politically nihilistic ones. so those are? in a way his go to?

Could they be considered lazy? yes. he only applies himself if he’s interested and for most of school he has no qualms abt being a lil sus and casually “accidentally” getting the answers to things so yeah that’s. that could be considered lazy. however, when he does care abt smth he will absolutely dedicate himself to it. he practices piano consistently and diligently day in and day out so it honestly depends on if he cares or not

How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt? v difficult. he rarely becomes guilty for longer than .4 seconds but when it does he’s srsly going to internalize that bc if he’s feeling guilty he prbly f-ed up real bad. he also won’t rlly talk abt it to anyone so it’s even more likely it’ll just get internalized 

How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive? that’s extremely dependent on who it is and what it is. if it’s sev he’ll b v supportive but sev is a VERY big exception in most cases also sev rarely gets visibly excited abt things so it’s usually a cause for celebration when he does. if josie (his bff) is excited abt smth? if he can relate he’ll be excited for her but if he can’t he’ll TRY his best but there will be some teasing involved bc that’s how he diffuses confusion. their other bff will get the same treatment but w slightly more effort bc she’s more sensitive but gosh if it’s someone he doesn’t know rlly well he’ll be rlly confused he’ll be like good for u ha?? or someone he knows casually. they’ll get teased so he tries but he also sucks at life. for such a great analyst he’s terrible at being socially delicate

How do they feel about children? no particular opinion! he’s the younger sib by quite a bit so he’s always been kind of the baby. he thinks kids are fine and he’s actually p good w them but he’d prefer to not babysit or anything like that. there are better more enjoyable things he could be doing w his time. as for having kids he almost never thinks abt that so he’s got no opinion there either. what happens happens after all

How badly do they want to reach their end goal? he doesn’t particularly have One End Goal but he has many aspirations and if he cares abt smth he will do everything in his power to reach it at least within reason. so p badly relatively speaking? 

If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so? he’s bi so if someone asked him to explain it he’d be like “it means idc what someone’s gender is when it comes to whether i want to fuck or not ;)” yes i hate him too

Okay list of the fights ive always wanted to see - Yoga versus Black (honestly i have no idea why) - Bakamono versus Gekikara (unstoppable force meets immovable object) - Gekikara versus Black (honestly i just want them to beat the shit out of each other. Its all theyre good for together) - Yuko versus Gekikara (pre-maji 1. Dilution? So, while Lords are all "My aspect is AWESOME! Every other aspect is shit, especially my opposite!", Muses are sort of like "My aspect is... okay, I guess, but it would be MUCH better if it was like these other aspects, especially the opposite."?

something like that, its more like, the Muse is very well equipped to appreciate what others bring to the table moreso then themselves

where Lords have severe trouble relating to others or seeing others as important or just as not utterly terrible, but seeing themselves as all important (at first), Muses delve right into the idea of seeing the similarities of themselves with others, or relating to them, and instead having more trouble seeing their own talents as relevant or important at first

the idea of them by default seeming to dilute what their aspect means comes from the idea of they can’t see what is so unique about their own aspect, everything they associate with their aspect they can relate to in another, and they might have the idea that the other aspect is “better” at this shared thing then theirs is, or thinking that somebody elses aspect is more suited to what they can do than they are

Like yknow how all aspects share borders with eachother in some way? like a big twelve pointed ven diagram?

lets take Life and Hope for instance, something they share is an idea of Unrelenting Force

Life never stops moving forward, always pushing on, finding loopholes and ways around things

Hope being the literal unstoppable force that meets the immovable object kind of force, and unrelenting positivity

but both have subtle differences in the way they approach this shared idea, Life moving more towards an idea of Youthful Energy and Immaturity/Ignorance of Obstacles and Hope being more Unflinchingly Positive in the face of all Negativity

A Muse is someone who has major trouble seeing the subtle differences, and a Muse of Hope in this example may be unable to associate Hope with Unrelenting Force because they see that as something that purely belongs to Life

and then every other thing about Hope they can see they can find in other aspects, like, oh Hope isn’t Truth/Authenticy, that’s Light, or Hopes not positive emotions in general that’s Heart and etc so therefore as a Muse of Hope, I couldn’t possibly be any of those Hope associated things because all those things are from other aspects, not mine

until basically there left with an aspect they perceive as either an empty slate, or “diluted” with all the rest of the aspects who all seem to do their version of whatever thing it is better than the Muse does, theyre unable to see at first what makes their own aspect and powers a Unique force upon reality, something only they can do thats important

this ties into the idea of Muses usually working through others, letting other people lead, inspiring others to do action instead of taking action themselves, having good ideas come from a place of, for example a Muse of Hope saying something like “oh you do (positive emotions thing) too? so do I! kind of, I’m actually terrible at it lol but if you (Heart Player) tried something like this I bet you’d be great at it!”

but just like how a Lord’s extra hard mode challenge is learning to see value in others (aka no problem with inversion, theyll never think theyre not great, instead they have a double challenge to not overembrace)

A Muses extra hard mode challenge is learning to see the value in themselves (aka no problem with overembracing, theyll never fully 100% reject the talents of others, its not a challenge they’ll ever have to deal with, instead we get extra hard mode Inversion challenge)

so just like how a Lord grows by developing and understanding the nuances and having true respect for the talents and aspects of people other than themselves, becoming healthier and balanced that way

like a Lord isn’t “doomed” to being an aggressively sociopathic manchild any more than a Page is doomed to forever be a useless player with no powers, just like how a Muse isn’t “doomed” to being incapable of taking their own actions instead of just buffing others forever

and remember, when in a fully developed healthy state, a Lord’s true power is to define their aspect any way they wish, not simply have their aspect stagnate forever, the healthiest being they incorporate what they view as the positives of others into their own

just as a Muse’s true power is to allow and share their own definition of their aspect with others, saying to others “hey this is what my aspect is like” instead of always receiving from others “hey this is what your aspect is like” not just forever using someone elses definition instead of their own, or just forever working through others instead of taking their own steps

thats where their true powers lie, in their healthy fully developed states, just like any other class
