BG3 characters but it’s what Inscryption decks they would use (Spoilers for BG3)

Shadowheart uses a Magick deck Typically sticks to using only one color of Mox at a time in order to build resources- tends to favor Blue Mox. Used to have a Beast deck, but she doesn’t play with it much anymore. A Selune aligned Shadowheart does mix Beasts/Magick! She notably has a caged alpha card. A Shar aligned Shadowheart uses an Undead/Magick deck

Lae’zel uses a Beast deck Makes use of stacking Beast cards such as the Ants- has a firm belief that the best defense is a good offense. Late game Lae’zel also has Hydras and an Oroboros

Astarion uses an Undead deck He has several brittle cards that he’ll throw out while something like a Mummy Lord grows in the background, trying to keep his opponent busy while stronger cards grow on the side lines. Ascended Astarion has a Beast/Undead hybrid deck- mostly utilizes Goats, Cats, and Wolves from his Beast half- most of which have sigils to supply more blood or bones when sacrificed.

Wyll uses a Beast deck His deck is mostly Bird based to pass by his foe’s cards and attack them directly, though he does have a few Adders as well. A Devil-turned Wyll also utilizes Orange Mox cards alongside his Beasts.

Gale uses a Magick deck He’s very proud of his collection of rare Mox Master cards. He typically has a hybrid deck utilizing two of the three Mox colors, though he has been known to occasionally use all three at once through hybrid cards. Incredibly strategic in his use of sigils and resources- typically low on offense cards, but he’s chalked full of utility and can and will drag his opponents into card starvation

Karlach uses a Beast deck Notably has a few Undead cards from her time in the Hells, but not enough to call it a hybrid deck. She has several high cost hard hitting cards, like the Great White, Grizzly, and Moose, as well as several heavy defense cards (like the Tortoise & Mole Man). To try and balance out the high blood cost of her deck, she has several blood suppling cards- like the Squirrel Ball and a Black Goat.

Halsin uses a Beast/Magick deck He has a lot of high cost powerhouse cards like Grizzlies & a Urayuli, though he typically makes use of smaller cheaper creatures like Beavers and adolescent Wolves/Stags & Mantises. He also notably has a Squirrel Ball & tends to utilize Green Mox (but has been known to use the other two before)

Minthara uses a Tech/Undead deck Almost everything she has comes with a Spike Sigil. Makes good use of energy cards & stim builds, utilizing low cost Brittle cards to buy her time. She also has several dozen Bolt/Bone Hounds

Jaheira uses a Beast deck She makes use of movement based cards, particularly favoring Stags. Notably also has a collection of Mantis Gods

Minsc uses a Beast deck Boo chooses cards, Minsc plays them. Has a lot of defense based cards- like Beavers, Tortoises, and Mole Men- as well as a Grizzly that he says reminds him of Boo.

Orin uses an Undead/Beast deck All of her Beasts are for sacrificing/building up her Undead cards in a quick manner (almost always starts with her Beast cards before switching to Undead ones roughly halfway through the game) Very notably has a Ijiraq card as well as a few Amalgams.

Gortash uses a Tech deck He has a lot of trap cards to whittle down a careless opponent’s deck as well a notable amount of Sentry & Sniper cards. Also those terrible Explode Bots/Bomb Latchers. A lot of his cards are pretty delicate, but he’s not above leveling out the playing field by bombing all of it.

Ketheric uses an Undead/Beast deck Has several cards that give him resources upon death. He relies heavily on hard defenses and stacking attacks- has several Caged Alphas and a Long Elk. He has has a nasty habit of having a Spike Sigil on a lot of his cards, so getting past his defenses can be quite the task.

Bonus!

Durge uses a Beast deck Lots of Blood Cats and high blood cost cards in this deck. Notably also has a few Undead cards in the interest of not letting a resource their Beast’s make go to waste. (Has a few coyote cards that they lovingly refer to as their gnollies)

OOOOOOHHHH!!!! I’VE BEEN WANTING TO TALK ABOUT THISSSS! For this AU I changed the irken species a LOT! They’re now called the “Iyer-Kahn” I just think it sounds cooler lol. I’m gonna splurge a lil bit so this is gonna be a looooong post so please enjoy!! Ahem…

The Iyir-Kahn are a human-like insectoid alien race on the verge of extinction. To survive, they invade other planets and steal their resources. Due to their old planet dying a long time ago, they're always on their giant mothership.

The leaders of the Iyir-Kahn are known as the Tall Ones. They are the last of the old race and the most ancient beings ever to exist. The drones are imperfect copies of the Tall ones, just genetically engineered to differ from one another in terms of gender, traits, personalities, and so on.

The Pa’ak is an organic mechanism attached to the back of every Iyir-Kahn. They cannot survive without the Pa’ak, which serves as a form of life support. The moment it is removed; they die immediately.

Iyir-Kahn young are created in test tubes. They are dead from the moment they are born until their Pa’ak has been attached. Upon awakening, they are taught survival skills, how to fight, and are educated by the older Iyir Kahn.

Characteristics:

Long, thin body. Almost looks malnourished.

Pale sickly looking skin with greenish white undertones

Hard outer shell that protects the body. Only the belly is left unprotected.

Antennas that can detect vibrations, sound, and smell.

Eyes are a solid color. They have pupils, but they are the same color as their eyes. It's impossible to see them without looking closely.

They have natural-colored shells and eyes. Colors range from red to pink to purple to blue.

Sharp needle like teeth

The “clothing” is data given a physical form that's generated from their Pa’ak.

Personality/Behavior

Cold and calculating in nature

Incredibly intelligent.

An Iyer Kahn’s brain lacks complex emotions like love or compassion. Or sadness and heartbreak.

They can feel other emotions such as trust, respect, curiosity, fear, anger, and hatred.

Iyer Kahn protect their young from danger, but not out of affection. It’s more like preserving the race so they don’t go extinct.

Some Iyer Kahn can even develop a partnership, an ally. Some can even mourn over a fallen ally, but not out of sadness. It’s more out of respect.

I couldn’t help but gush about my version of the Irken species. They were so fun to write!! Fleshing out characteristics, adding lore, gahahhs it’s SO much fun!

I wanted to base the Iyer-Kahn off of bugs, specifically praying mantis and ants. I was also inspired by Predators and Xenomorphs for extra alien spice.

But what I was really inspired by was this one theory that Irkens are just evolved versions of these alien bugs?? Like they lived underground and stuff, it was really intriguing. My friend Sheepy was the one who told me about it and it was really cool!

Apothecary Diaries | WN Translation | Arc 9 - Chapter 12

For a couple of reasons I ended up here - I relay all that happens in the chapters, playing wine-aunt, as I translate to the best of my abilities.

Chapter 12 | Farming

For the next two days, Maomao and the others helped Nenshin with his work.

Which was pretty close to the answer Maomao was looking for.

Narrator-Mao leads us through the explanation that, after putting the hoe in the ground and turning over the damp soil, they found worms, ants and small beetles - as well as long masses/clumps, where a closer look revealed that they were eggs/egg masses.

The chicken that had been pecking at the worms then pecked at the egg mass. In her head she wonders “Locust eggs?”

As narrator she lets us know that she would’ve liked to calculate how many there were per tan, but that she didn’t have the time to do that. Once she found an egg the chicken had missed, she picked it up and put it in a jar.

In her mind she notes how many there must be.

Narrator-Mao goes on talking about how people who hate insects would go crazy about this, even if the contents of her jar are still few. Despite being used to dissecting locusts, it’s not something she wants to see or likes either.

Meanwhile she lets us in on the fact that Lahan-nii, the expert farmer, had a special way of holding the hoe - while Basen had his incredible strength and how different the amount of soil is they have to dig up.

In her head she’s just glad that Basen is doing things right.

Narrator-Mao tells us that she’d been worried he’d refuse, because it’s not the job of a soldier, but apparently she was lucky that Jinshi cared about locusts quite a bit. So, Basen quietly helped her.

Thanks to that, she fills us in, the guards and farmers they’d brought along were also helping her. It looks like they’ll be done with the digging by the end of the day.

In addition, Chue - who had joined before they knew it - was moving around near the two of them, collecting locust eggs. Two children were behind her. They’re the siblings that ate the roasted sweet potato - and they seem to think that if they help they’ll get more of them.

“Maomao-san, there are a lot of them, would you like to see them?”

“Chue-san, I don’t want to see them. If it’s mantis eggs, I’ll take it.”

Mantis eggs, she tells us, are used as a medicine called Sohyosho. Since it can’t be acquired in large quantities, it’s quite valuable. (that’s real btw)

“The eggs here are about to hatch. A small one’s coming out.”

“It’s already spring, isn’t it?”

One generation of flying locusts is as long as 3 months, starting march. It's said that they lay about 100 eggs each at a time. This is what was written in the encyclopedia that was in the Shi clan’s fortress. Those born in spring lay new eggs in summer.

They don’t breed all year round, and at this time of year, the eggs laid in the fall are hatching. The eggs are laid hidden in the ground, exposed by akiko/autumn plowing - and once exposed, they become food for birds and small animals.

Maomao wonders, in her mind, if Lahan (the actual one) hadn’t said that before.

Narrator-Mao notes something about him having mentioned rat/mousecalculation.

One pair of mice births 12 children - making the total 14. Of those 12 children, 6 females and the mother bring 7 more pairs into the world - from which, each of them births another twelve.

Of course, this formula is just a theoretical calculation. Not everything grows without dying.

If the number of locusts were to increase in the same way as this rat-calculation, it will be important to reduce the number at an earlier stage.

She calculates in her head that a mass of locust eggs is about 100, 100 times ten is 1000, 100 times 100 is 10.000.

Narrator-Mao goes on that, if they were to get rid of them now, they could lower the amount of locusts appearing later by many times - and that it seems locusts lay their eggs in areas that are moist to some degree.

She thinks that, since there’s a river nearby and plenty of grass to feed on, this area is the perfect spawning ground.

Then notes as narrator that the reason why they (villagers) didn’t dare to cultivate a field is probably to attract locusts.

At that point Nenshin approaches her, a glass of locust eggs in hand.

“Now all that’s left to do is burn them.”

“That’s good to hear.”

“Ah. Last year I missed a lot of locusts because I was late with this.”

Narrator-Mao recalls that a farmer of this village had also said that they had a lot of damage from locusts the year before.

“Was the yield quite small?” She asks and Nenshin nods.

“We don’t have any savings, just what we eat. If we pay taxes, we’ll starve. We would no longer be able to afford to buy daily necessities from peddlers, so we would have so sell our cattle.”

“But you said that the feudal lord not only exempted you from taxes but also gave you support.”

“That’s right, he’s a really nice lord.” Once again, Nenshin made a face as if he was going to throw up.

Maomao then asks him directly something along the lines of “What is it that you don’t like about that? It seems like you have a thorn in your side/like it's a thorn in your eye.”

Nenshin explains that, he’s not saying this as former bandit, but they(village people) are just trying to take what they can get. To him, they’re like locusts. If you don’t want to starve, you should take proper care of your field - so that you don’t starve.

Maomao asks if "that’s why" - the reason why the fields in this village aren’t well taken care of is that.

Nenshin responds: “That’s right. It was the same with last years bugs.” and goes on to explain that while they were disgusted, looking at their fields being eaten with dismay - the village chief was always thinking about how he could get the sympathy of the lord, always thinking about how he could make him cry. Nenshin felt like a fool, pulling off the locusts that were biting the leaves and killing them one by one.

Narrator-Mao wonders if the fear of past locust plagues has changed Nenshin - because this doesn’t seem like the behavior of a former bandit who has done all kinds of evil deeds.

She then corrects herself in her mind: No, that’s wrong.

As narrator adding that, from the start, Nenshin probably had an earnest/serious personality. He was born and raised as a bandit, so he learned how to use a bow and started killing people as he was told.

Ethics isn’t something you are born with.

“And judging from the current atmosphere in the village, it seems like they received a lot of money.”

“Right. This hasn’t changed in the last ten years. Even if the harvest fails, the lord will help us. He’s a good lord to everyone.”

In her mind she wonders “Good lord..”

Narrator-Mao wonders where the money for this support comes from. It could be extracted from trade. If Saito was that prosperous, it’s fine to send the money to rural areas.

“If you’re making the money, I think it would be better to build at least one of those waterways/canals.”

She goes on, as narrator, that the less labor is involved in transporting water, the more different work can be done. They could even cultivate new fields.

Nenshin admits that that’s what “that man Rikuson” had said too - Maomao replies with a simple “Is that so.”

Narrator-Mao then tells us again that, once she’s back in Saito, she has to find out how Rikuson found out about the former serf’s existence.

(And then, after all this, days worth of work they did for him, mind you……..)

“By the way, I’m sorry to ask you to help me with my work, but don’t you have other business in this village?”

“Business…….” - Maomao rests her chin on the handle of her hoe and closes her eyes.

“Ah!” - Maomao looks around. She approaches Lahan-nii, who isn’t only digging up the soil but also starting to make ridges.

Maomao: We won’t plant anything here.

Lahan-nii: ?!

She thinks “Shit, he’s making his usual face.”

He(?) denies it, but the farmers are completely on board.

“By the way, aren’t you going to spread the popularity of potatoes? I think that’s why you brought the seed potatoes.”

“..... that’s about it.”

It seems like Lahan-nii has something on his mind.

“The people here have no willingness/motivation to work in the fields, right? If they were to produce more potatoes, do you think they would cultivate them properly? They probably won’t use the old fields for new crops, and I don’t think they have the willpower to cultivate new land.”

“Certainly/Indeed.” Maomao is convinved.

Lahan-nii says that that’s why he wanted to meet the only person who cultivated a decent farm.

Maomao catches on, goes “So that’s what it’s about.” but Lahan-nii already knows better as well: “But I don’t think that old man can do it.”

Maomao agrees, with a simple “It’s impossible, I guess.”

The last former serf of this village. In addition to working on his own field, he also has to perform the fall plowing ceremony, which is called a ritual. Work that was supposed to be completed in fall, continuing into the spring, so no matter how you look at it, there’s not enough manpower.

“Can’t we just leave one person here to help?” They look at the other farmers.

Lahan-nii argues that the people he brought with him are here because he is *in case she’s wondering*. It’s not good to be left behind in an unfamiliar place/You can’t just leave them in an unfamiliar land, in the middle of nowhere.

They seem to have been brought all the way from Hisashi-Shuu.

“Right.” - Narrator-Mao notes that Lahan-nii acts like an older brother in the strangest ways - and that, if he had been born into a normal family, he would’ve been a good eldest son. (damn girl)

Lahan-nii adds that he’s glad his father isn’t there - and something about how he said he’d show them the potential of potatoes yet he didn’t actually know what to do. (the second part’s not wanting to be read, clearly.)

Maomao then says something along the lines of “Let’s at least make the sweet potatoes tasty….. Potatoes……” (it’s a fragmented sentence I can’t make full sense of)

Maomao looks at the two children clinging to Chue’s back. She sets down the hoe and approaches them.

“Hey, you want to eat the sweet potato again sometime”

“Want to eat!”

“I want to eat it! I want to eat!”

The sibling's eyes sparkled.

“It’s my first time eating something so sweet. It was sweet like a raisin.”

“Raisins?”

“Sweets are precious around here. There’s no honey and sugar is a luxury item.”

Chue spins around with a large jar on her head.

“... I wonder, can we use that/Could that work?”

Maomao grinned/chuckled and returned to Lahan-nii.

| Notes & Chapter 13

At long last, a chapter that didn't completely hate being translated.

There's not much to say this time. There is the expression thing where it's not quite clear for me if Maomao is pulling an expression or if it's Lahan-nii, but we'll survive that. The same goes with where Nenshin has the thorn.

I honestly just love it for Nenshin that he waited days, until they were about to wrap up all the work, before asking if it's fine for them to spend all their time with his task. Just, gold.

if all the patapon characters were bugs which bugs would they be. youve probably already done this but

oh my god i suddenly lost most of my progress on this ask so im mildly irritated (not at u though) but il go over the zigotons first. spiderton is a golden orb weaver, beetleton is a stag beetle, makoton is a bark scorpion, and kharma a death head moth. saw gong being thrown around as like, also a death head moth, but hawkmoths exist so it fits him

for the patapons most of them are ants. fah hatapon kon and tsukapons are harvester ants, as hero ton and rah are trapjaws. i think shuraba would be a lacewing though but meden is probably a phasmid (maybe giant prickly stick insect, but tbh giant malaysian leaf insect works better). patapon princess is a pond skater (jesus bug is another common name), but thats abut it for the patapons

for the karmens itd be.. a bit harder but i can make things up. nomen is a texas ironclad beetle which are infamous for having incredibly tough shells to break.. kimen might also be a phasmid, just a common walking stick. for hukmen he might be an assassin bug (not any of the wheel ones, not sure abut the species but assassin bugs most remind me of him) EDIT: i forgot ormen karmen SORRY. hes a longhorn beetle

buzzcrave is either a botfly, mantis, or centipede. whatever you like more. slogturtle is a diving beetle, sonarchy is a bat fly, and covet hiss is a centipede herself. i did it wooo yayy

Animals I really want to see in planet zoo!

Part 1! ♡

1) Pink Fairy Armadillo! ♡

They can be found in South America in grasslands. They are solitary animals and mainly eat ants, worms and plants etc. They are the smallest armadillo species! They are the only species of armadillo whose dorsal shell is not completely attached to its body.

2) Orchid Mantis! ♡

This would such a cute exhibit animal! They are found in tropical forests of South East Asia. They are just such a beautiful insect!

3) Pallas Cat! ♡

They are so fluffy I absolutely love them so much, one of my favourite felines! They live across Russia and many counties in Asia up to altitudes of 5,600m! They have so much fur! They use their tail to help keep them warm! It's so cute!

4) Chinchilla! ♡

I love Chinchillas so much! I have owned them and currently have one and they are such amazing little rodents! They are all so unique and have incredible personalities and are naturally very emotion driven animals! In the wild they mainly live In Bolivia, Peru, and Chile. They live on the rocky mountains at elevations between 9 and 15 thousand feet. I really wish these were added to the Arid pack!

5) Rock Hopper Penguin! ♡

I love these guys! They are so silly! They are one of the smallest penguins. They can be found in Antarctica, Chile and New Zealand. Their beaks start off black but go orange as they age! That would be so cool to see in game!

6) Saola! ♡

These animals are only found in the Annamite Mountains of Laos and Vietnam and are critically endangered. Their horns can reach up to 20 Inches.

7) Satanic Leaf-Tailed Gecko! ♡

I love animals like these are are so cool! These geckos are indigenous to the island of Madagascar! They are solitary arboreal creatures.

8) Leopard Seal! ♡

They are one of the largest seals in the world! They live In the Antarctic and they have an incredibly diverse diet. They have a very impressive bite force.

9) Asiatic Lion! ♡

These cats are just gorgeous! There are only several hundred Asiatic lions in the wild and they only live in the Gir Forest in India. They are smaller than African lions and their manes are darker.

10) Serval!

I love wild cats if you could not tell! They live In Southern Africa. They have really long legs and large ears. They can leap up to 3.6 meters!

HONEYPOTS, THE TREASURES

I agree this is an incredibly cool bug

And the idea of making a race out of them is incredibly cool & is full of so much potential. My brain is rattling now too actually, OMGA

If you don't mind I'm gonna use this as an excuse to ramble how I'd think their societies & culture would work in the world of HK. Feel free to take anything I say here & use it or ask me to elaborate on certain things, I love world building with all my soul

Firstly: Gods. I don't think that many ant colonies would side with a good in Hallownest if given the chance. I wouldn't surprise me if they've always been there, possibly way before the Mantis Tribe or Deepnest

Ants are incredibly efficient creatures, they have been for centuries with no outside influence. They've learned every inch of their territory, they know how to manage resources, defend themselves, the works. I'd say that the closest thing they'd have to a God would be their Queen, and in the case of honeypot ants, they're repletes (The food storing ants)

Their Queen gives life, their Queen gives them purpose, as all as she lives the colony will continue. Work to preserve the colony, work to preserve her

This only ties into the fact that once a queen dies, the colony does as well. Turning this cycle into a 'If you do not work, the Queen will die, and we are all doomed' mentality

As cruel as it may sound, that's their philosophy. One that's always worked for millennia. Why change what's 'perfect'?

With repletes, while some see their jobs as a luxury, the ants would view them as a beacon of responsibility. They hold all of their food, and they're incredibly vulnerable because of it. They can barely move by themselves, and they can never leave their nest. Without them, the colony would starve, and as such works hold their sister in the upmost highest regards

(They wouldn't see this as a sacrifice though. This is literally what they were born to do. Still, they have the colony's respect)

This also leads me to believe they'd take incredible offense to anyone insulting either of them. They're literally the reason they're alive, and I feel like they wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone that makes threats to either. No matter how joking

The Pale King would treat the colony like he does Deepnest, it's a territory that he does not own nor trades with. Though, there's always the possibility for a failed tram like situation like in Deepnest. At the same time, there's like thousands of combat trained ants that can just invade his city and kill everybody if he's not careful, so probably not

To summarize, the honeypots wouldn't side with any Gods, instead they worship their Queen & sisters. If you insult either you're getting stabbed. PK doesn't touch them with a ten foot pole (he is tempted though)

As for how they'd interact with other groups, I feel like they'd have a hesitant alliance with The Hive. The bees make honey, and as the name implies, the ants would love that

I feel like they'd strike a deal, something like: The Hive will deliver packages of honey every time the colony demands, and in exchange the bees are protected by workers, have full access to the territories' nectar, and the colony will provide them information on Hallownest

If I remember correctly the hive is completely shut off from the outside world, and in this case, the ant colony isn't. So, in case something happens, like an angry orange death plague that kills everybody, the hive is updated on the status of it constantly. All they need to do is give a little honey for it, hehe

As for Deepnest & The Mantis Tribe, it's all neutral ground. They don't go picking fights, if every side kills someone it's possible just because they needed the food or they're just protecting their territory

As for the beetles in the City of Tears, both sides do their best to stay clear of each other.

In the case of the beetles, due the ants lack of individuality, they're behavior come off as robotic & uncanny to them. That, and the fact they can kill them easily if they wanted to, makes the beetles see them as these 'Emotionless creatures that can strike at any moment'

And some of them would find the idea of being a living food storage tank horrifying, questioning any ant they come across like 'How care you DO just an AWFUL thing??? To your own FAMILY'

As for the ants, they literally don't care. Nothing in the city is of interest to them, and they only really go there to scavenge or get information to share with The Hive

Summarize: They're chill with The Hive, neutral with Deepnest & The Mantis Tribe, don't give a fuck about City of Tears

As for some bullet point ideas

- Repletes would be the first targeted by the infection. Chances are they have lots of dreams about the outside, perfect for the Radiance to get into their minds!

- The ants would have mountains of geo deposits they have no idea what to do with. They literally have no economy & they don't trade with money

- The ants only wear cloaks when they're in the city. Protects them from the rain & keeps them hidden from the beetles

- Ant are capable of leaving the nest & being their own person. Though more often than not they'll feel incredibly guilty for leaving their family (escaping as a replete is very hard though, for reasons I'm sure you can imagine)

- Past repletes will have the habit of over eating, they just need to break out of that 'I'm responsible for feeding EVERYONE' mindset. Or sometimes they just eat to finally enjoy the experience of it, you know?

- I feel like the colony would be a mountain of living corpses after the infection. Just piles of infected bodies moving in unison, fixing the best or attacking any intruders

- Ants really love hugs & being close. It reminds them how they felt their family 💚

I'm sorry, I couldn't stand Cassie Lang in Quantumania. I do want to elaborate though, because I really don't want this to come across as sexism, so long post. Thank you Super Hero Confessions for giving us a platform.

I can't talk about this on any social media without people telling me "why do you care you're a grown ass man" even though I'm a woman and younger than Kathryn Newton, the actress playing Cassie, but thanks for making assumptions and showcasing your need to put anyone with a different opinion in a box (a wrong box, at that).

Cassie is rude. Cassie puts Scott down. Her father. The father she loved so much in the first two Ant-Man movies and in Endgame, after losing him and thinking he was dead for 5 years. She's also inexplicably super smart out of nowhere. I'm no writer, but as a woman I can tell you this is not the way to write female characters. Or if it is the way, then it's not a way I can relate to.

To me, well written female characters are diverse. And by diverse I don't mean just racially diverse, although that too. For example let's take a look at the women of Wakanda. They're all black, but they're extremely diverse. Shuri is the brains, nerdy and fun, Okoye is the muscle, strong and badass, Nakia is the heart, kind and compassionate, Ramonda is the Queen, majestic and elegant. Even Riri, who is not from Wakanda and a bit similar to Shuri personality-wise, is endearing and entertaining. I love them because every one of them has a distinct personality. Something similar happens with the women of Guardians of the Galaxy. Gamora is strong and badass, but also compassionate. Nebula is the angry one, but deep down she's suffering because she just wanted a sister. Mantis is gentle and sweet and her power is her empathy. Again, distinct personalities. Love them. Valkyrie? Despite people claiming she had no remorse, I personally like her. She's deeply flawed. She turned to alcohol to numb her pain until she stopped giving a shit about others. I don't agree with her actions, but I'll take her over any female character who is so perfect it hurts. Once again... diversity. Women with incredibly diverse personalities from one another.

Examples like the ones I just mentioned make the world of female characters richer. And when people complain about "Mary Sues" yes sometimes it's just a sexist take, but sometimes it is true that recently we are getting characters like Cassie: arrogant yet loved by everyone around them, super strong, super smart, always right, effortlessly better than the male character at everything, no flaws other than being "too stubborn" or "too selfless"... Too perfect. I can't relate to that, but it's fine, I don't need to relate to a character if they're at least entertaining but that isn't the case. Because they try to make these characters so many things at once, they end up being nothing, and incredibly boring to watch. Or even worse, cringeworthy at times. I had to roll my eyes when Jen was ranting about mansplaining while explaining how to control your emotions to Bruce Banner/the Hulk. Yes, you can make a woman talk about mansplaining but not while explaining control of emotions to the HULK? She's doing the same thing she's complaining about? Like that's just. I am the target audience and I want to turn it off.

No woman is absolutely better than everyone at everything. It's why I mentioned how important it is to add distinct personalities and diversity. Some women are better at some things than others, and all are important regardless. Some women are very smart, some others are not intellectually gifted but have very big hearts, some have anger issues, some are funny, some others struggle and do shitty things, etc. Women are diverse which is why I don't like the generic, bland, perfect type, I feel as if the movie is grabbing me by the shirt and screaming "GIRLBOSS!! SLAY!! GIRL POWER AM I RIGHT?? FEEL EMPOWERED, WOMAN!!" at me. No, I'm sorry, I don't feel empowered over a character who, to show us how good and better and perfect she is, has to put her own father down, Scott Lang, of all people. Scott Lang! One of the most lovable superheroes!

Nothing screams "we actually think women are weak" more than actively putting the men down to attempt to make the women look stronger. Sure, maybe all the "straight white incel racist males" complain about this. But the implications are these. The implications are that a woman cannot appear strong unless the men are portrayed as weak. And as a woman I find it insulting.

I would like to know what you guys think. Feel free to start a debate if you want, respectfully please. One of my friends irl loved Cassie and if we can talk about this with respect, we all can. Ladies, what are your thoughts on this type of writing for woman superheroes? I want to hear the opinions of men as well (unless your arguments are straight up sexist) and I don't know, but I just really want, for female characters, the diversity and depth that most male characters have. I don't think I ask for much. Each character has their unique strengths and weaknesses, and it should be no different for female characters.

I do want to clarify though that I can understand this writing when there is only one woman in a major role, for example with the OG Avengers. Thor was the himbo, Tony was the genius, etc, but Natasha was the only woman Avenger at first so it's natural that they would make her be too many things, too perfect, too capable, smart, and compassionate. Context matters and I actually like Nat. But when you have multiple women in a movie and still choose to make a woman superhero a "Cassie," I say no thank you.

Sharing on Tumblr a little cut from my Fanfic Silver Season. Its on AO3 right now and idk if I'll be putting it on here too, that seems like such long posts sometimes XD but if people want to see it I will try! But here, just a part of the 3000+ word first Chapter.

Emergency captains meetings had, at one point, been few and far between. And Nozel would not have to schedule himself so sparingly so he could be called upon at any moment's notice. But recently it seemed like every other day he was being summoned up to the Wizard kings castle to listen to everyone bicker amongst each other. Even now down the empty hall he could hear Yami's overly loud voice arguing with, most likely, Jack.

"Do you two ever shut up?" Nozel commented to them as he walked through the doors and over to his own space to sit down between Dorothy and Jack.

"You can shove it Braid-Face." Yami was immediately on the defensive over whatever topic had him so worked up.

The silver mage had already been in a foul mood that day but to be so atrociously insulted, by a foreigner no less, had his mana flaring up already.

"You need to calm down." Fuegoleon, newly appointed back into his position, pushed himself in before some kind of fight could take place. "We're all tired and tempers are short. There's no need to antagonize one another, especially not in front of Julius who is in the worst state of us all."

All heads turned to their now tiny wizard king, who looked incredibly apologetic at having to summon them here once again.

"Please forgive me…" he said as soothingly as he could. If it had come from anyone else the captains would not have calmed down as quickly as they did.

"What brings us all together this time?" Nozel asked after gaining his composure again.

"Yeah, no offense Julius, but some of us really got our plates full." Yami huffed, a cigarette was held tightly between two fingers but was unlit. It was pretty obvious how badly he wanted to light it though.

What Yami was referring to was the unfair task placed upon his squad after the Elven attack, repel, and then trial of his squad mate Asta. Not only did the bulls have their hands full looking into Devil nonsense but everyone else was still busy repairing not just the kingdom but their own reputations. Many of the citizens had lost a lot of faith in their Magic knights after it seemed they had turned against them as traitors. As a result everyone was running themselves ragged and tempers were short.

And that was no different for the captains, organizing the work forces on top of attending these regular meetings, they too were all looking incredibly tired.

"I really do apologize for summoning you all so suddenly." Julius sighed. "But I promise this time it's important."

Rather than explain himself what was happening he nodded to Jack.

"Keh…" the man seemed bitter as he turned and shouted to the doors. "You can bring it in!"

"Bring it in?" Charlotte looked confused, mirroring everyone else in the room as two Green Mantis knights came in carrying a large blanket-wrapped something.

"Good lord, what is that stench!?" Kaiser was first to recoil from the horrid odor that was permeating the room.

"Is it that?!" William was leaning away as the two magic knights tossed their load over onto the meeting table. Its bindings came undone to reveal what was inside…

"That's the biggest ant I've ever seen!" Rill gawked at it. It was a suspicion the boy had an odd interest in magical beasts with how often he used them in paintings. This reaction just further proved it.

Laying now on their table, undoubtedly dead, was a massive Ant. Its body was a shiny red color with a foul smelling green fluid leaking out of open gash wounds that must have taken its life. There was no shine to its lifeless eyes and over all the creature was easily the size of a large dog.

Brief Personality: Kaguya is a very monotone person. He has a tendency to push people away from him by making himself as boring and unapproachable as possible. But in reality he’s just really awkward. He is the type of person who much rather stay at home with a bunch of books than go outside and hang out with his friends.

Brief Backstory: Kaguya was born without a name, somewhere on the moon. His parents kicked him off the moon and he plummeted down to earth. He was found by a local orphanage due to his crying.

He never really knew why his parents abandoned him.. But he did know that humans weren’t much better.. His peers would bully him for most of his life due to him not being like them.

He lost himself in fairytales, reading every book he could. He thought if he lost himself in the stories and his role as a god, everything would be alright.

However, now Kaguya is very standoffish. Not even giving people the privilege of speaking his real name. Instead wanting to be referred too as “Kami” or “God”.. He is a bit of an odd ball..

Many people have hurt Kaguya over the years, causing him to retreat further and further into his shell. However lately a few cracks have been shown.

People of Retroggio: Arcanants

Rendjule, the demi-god of nature and creation, was slain on the Material Realm, and where their divine blood struck the land, the first of the Arcanants were formed.

Arcanants have been long-sworn to protect Retroggio, and the oldest among them have watched the fall of ancient tyrants, the rise of modern civilization and its collapse during the Paradox Upheaval, all in one lifetime, spent happily avoiding a walled or paved city. The violent restoration of the Schizmwood is broadly viewed as scales being rebalanced.

Their long lifespans and intense dedication to the balance of nature imparts them with a perspective that feels utterly alien to most other creatures. An Arcanant taking a closer look to involve themselves in the goings-on of more short-lived creatures is incredibly rare, but not unheard of.

Appearance

Angion Arcanants are more shy of common society, with appearances that evoke that of plants; trees, flowers and leaves alike, and their skintones will often have shimmering patterns and lines, like swirling vines, or the bark of a tree. Their hair thusly runs vivid and varied across the color spectrum, in high red ruffles like a carnation or low drifting strands like a willow. Their eyes share this expanded color array, and often have irises that expand in a higher ratio than the sclera.

Arthron Arcanants, as the name implies, resemble humanoids that have the features of bugs and insects. Compound eyes are common, while some have visibly fixated pupils like a mantis, and to their deep chagrin, there are some that are referred to as “Arcane Ants” for their resemblance to the tunneling insects. They have a variety of patterns, vivid stripes, antennae, and varyingly soft or scratchy tufts of fuzz. Both variants of Arcanant have short, pointed ears, that may just be hidden or just protruding from their hair. Sometimes also obscuring their ears are unique features that may form in bug wings and mandibles for Arthrons, or petals and leaf-shapes in an Angion, usually encompassing an area from the temple to the lower jawline. They have the same gender spectrum in identity and dimorphism as most humanoids, including sexual reproduction, with females normally standing much taller than males.

ARCANANT TRAITS

Creature Type. You are a Humanoid.

Age. An Arcanant matures at the same rate as a Human, but can live for up to 800 years.

Size. Their height regularly goes just a bit short of 7 feet, with a tendency for males to be shorter. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Hivemind. You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. Your telepathic utterances are in a language you know, and the creature understands you only if it knows that language. Your communication doesn’t grant the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically.

ANGION TRAITS

Speech of Beast and Leaf. You have the ability to communicate in a limited manner with Beasts, Plants, and vegetation. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return. You have advantage on all Charisma checks you make to influence them.

Retroggio’s Mercy. As an action, you can touch a creature and roll a number of d4s equal to your proficiency bonus. The creature regains a number of hit points equal to the total rolled. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

ARTHRON TRAITS

Spider Climb. You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, at 3rd level, you can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free. You must be barefoot to benefit from this feature.

Arthropod Magic. You know the infestation cantrip. You can cast animal friendship an unlimited number of times with this trait, but you can target only insects or arachnids with it.

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this ancestry).

The Avengers are transported to an inter dimensional movie theatre to watch their movies. Dead characters are brought from the past, characters appear as they become important, lots of joking and feeling bad for whoever they're watching.

Covers Phases 1-4 in release date order, not including The Incredible Hulk (because as far as I'm concerned that movie doesn't exist) or any new character's shows or movies. Set after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but we won't get there for a while.

random unrelated jrwi bitb thoughts time

there is simply no way kian stone is the tallest of the group. i’ve said it before but that is a short king for SURE. (rand can stay at his canon height. it’s fitting. also rolan is like just tall enough to be notably tall)

in my brain the bug types different bug characters embody is like. very specific. rolan is a preying mantis. yeah yeah i’ve seen so many people depicting becky as a mantis but. she’s a rhinoceros beetle to me <3. i do like kian as a horrific butterfly thing, though. and rat is of course a centipede. he’s literally described as such. hmmmmm it just now occurred to me to consider what bugs other characters might be. idk. also regardless of what kind of bug they are based on, i imagine the bug monster color palette to be very specific. dark muddy greys, blacks, and browns, with some red stripes and/or spots. maybe some gross yellowish. no bright colors except for some mesmerizing bioluminescent stuff going on. ever seen a comb jelly? yeah

i like to think of how rachel got into the position she did. it really sounds like she believes in what the queen is pushing (they do have separate voices and personalities, after all,) and it’s probably very likely she’s been manipulated in some way, but i don’t think it was always the case. i like to think that perhaps the queen first showed up to galloway, small and weak, like a young queen ant, or perhaps she wasn’t even hatched yet. either way, maybe rachel finds this weak little creature in a dark part of the bayou and takes pity on it. starts bringing it scraps of food. a piece of a sandwich here, a pizza slice there, they start to have a bond of sorts. and when she starts hearing the little (but steadily growing) creature’s voice inside her head, she trusts it. she listens. when it starts asking for more meat, she complies. maybe eventually she gets tired. she feels she can’t bring the creature, now far larger than herself, (big enough for her to be unsure where it’s body starts and ends,) enough food. and by now it’s been months since she first found it, and has had more than enough time to internalize its grand plan as something she thinks she agrees with. but she doesn’t have enough food. this is fine, the creature says it can go into a dormant state for years. it just needs some insurance. and so the creature flashes it’s bright wings, shaking them and flaunting her bioluminescence, every part of her body seemingly moving except for her head, hypnotizing the young girl who should be at a sleepover at this hour. and pale tendrils creep up out of the water and embed themselves in the back of her head, and rachel rand and her creature fall asleep for as long as they’d need to, all until the creature’s new scout makes his way back home.

back to silly random thoughts. when charlie said that mrs. rand survived, i got such a great image in my head of her all worn and tough-looking, wielding a weapon of some kind (gun? baseball bat? idk) with barc at her side. i will also remind everyone of my idea that barc is like. super sensitive to the bug things and can smell them even before they’ve fully turned. and for some reason he’s incredibly strong against them and can kill them relatively easy. just picture this stupid labrador mix chewing on the leg of a gross bug monster. fun stuff, amirite?

the original rolan deep isn’t really as dead as one might think. sure, his body is a mess at the bottom of the lake and has been for over a decade, but think about it. when kian was bugged, he had all his original memories and seemed to be fully motivated (outside of the queen’s influence,) by his emotions. then when the bug body is destroyed and og kian gets revived, he still has his memories. bug ones included. granted, the bug memories are fuzzy and rapidly falling away, but he did remember despite that never really being him. because of this, i think the bug and the original body have a psychic link of some kind. or that they share a consciousness. literally all i’m going off of is kian here, but do you understand? and with this, i’m saying that the original rolan deep, despite his body being dead and gone, is still alive. through our rolan. they share the same mind and memories. they’re one and the same.
