PSA

Okay, so everyone gather around, we need to talk about something, well a lot of things. I sat on this a while and was just not sure if I wanted to post this or just deal with it in private. Multiple topics under the cut.

As we know, interaction is terrible on this site now and 90% of people are using it like instagram or twitter. scroll, like, scroll, like. For the love of god, this is tumblr, not instagram or twitter. Please, if you are new here, keep this hellshit enjoyable and listen to creators and other users when we offer suggestions.

Now the topic of reblogs. YES there are some creators who don't care about this and love to shout "no one owes you anything" and everyone is entitled to their options and feelings. That being said, there are many creators who DO CARE about this, me included.

There are many creators who are negatively affected by shitty and no interaction. We love what we do, so will we still do it without you? yes. But we chose to share here because we like sharing, we also like the interaction, we like the community. We do write for ourselves, and because we love it ( so please stop saying that as a generic response when a creator is venting, even if you mean well, it's still not helpful).

We are sharing works FOR FREE with the public and there is nothing wrong with wanting some interaction and reblogs, it's nice, it's a sign of appreciation, for some it boosts our morale as we offer up our babies for public viewing. I know for me, I have been very impacted by the way people use this site now, it sucks, it depresses me. Will it make me stop writing? Never. Will it make me consider keeping my work private at some point and just write in my own little corner of the world where my work is no longer free to view, yeah maybe. This place used to be so inspiring, and that is gone. Sure, some will disagree and that's okay. My blog, my option, my post.

So, when creators are like " hey it would be nice if you reblogged or interacted" it is not us begging, it is not us being babies, it's not us being ungrateful, it is not us disregarding shy or anon readers, its not us saying “wah you owe me!” - its us asking for something that is a great gesture of appreciation for the content you consume, FOR FREE. We are not asking for payout or to praise us, just show some signs of life people. That like button is in the same place at the reblog one, use it. Don't want to mess up your page aesthetic? Well you could make a reblog account. Those are great. I have two of them to support writers.

Am i saying you should reblog everything, no. So don't even bring that up. Reblog what you like. Help it get seen. Likes do NOTHING on tumblr aside from say "hey cool" or “liked this” and there is nothing wrong with that, just if you want to step up your game, reblog it, comment, interact. Have you ever seen a fic on your dash, one someone else shared and loved it? Well, do you know how you saw it? because someone reblogged it. A like did not do that. reblogs = exposure and fic circulation. The fic/gif set/art lives on in a bigger orbit!

Addition: reblog accounts are a thing! Many people do them. It’s an easy way you can keep your page however you want, but still reblog (means share, circulate) the original authors work. You do this by making a Sideblog and can dedicate that to reblogs only. I do that too! I have more than one RB account that is only dedicated to sharing other ppls work.

Now, the next topic...Updates

In the last month I have received lots of messages like "when is so and so being updated" "are you finishing ____" but on these same works, as I'm busting my ass, no one comments, no one reblogs and there's like 4 likes. Many of these messages don't even start with a greeting either.

Sooooo if readers are so ardent to see something, if you are actually reading it, if you want to support the author, how about showing some signs of life? Even if you just go anon and throw a bunch of emojis in their mailbox, that's good too! You can stay anon and be like " hey i really am enjoying that fic" - trust me, you will make the author smile.

One of the issues with this liking only thing is we can't tell if our work is actually being read or valued. And it sucks. Honestly, I don't look at my notifications for likes anymore, I don't. It's discouraging and it feels like no one is reading anything, just blankly liking it as if this was instagram or twitter. Could I be wrong? Sure. Of course. I mean I like stuff to find it later in the day so we have systems right? But this is just me venting on my own page so I'm holding the mic...

All of this is to say, don't demand updates from creators. If you like something, great. If you are excited, great. We love it! I love a well intentioned message from someone excited for an update. Tone matters, don't be a dick, don't be entitled, don't be rude. A creator is sharing their work with you FOR FREE, shit if they want to take 5 months to update, let them take 5 months. if they want to drop it for now and write in a totally new fandom for a bit, let them live.

So, do we love your excitement for updates? YES. But don't be a dick about it, don't demand it. And when said work is posted, how about you hit that reblog button or leave a comment or send some keyboard smashing excitement to their mailbox as a "yay its here, thank you creator"

Now, minors and sketchy looking blank accounts…

We are tired. I AM TIRED. I have never in my life had to do so much followers-list maintenance and I took a break because that shit is exhausting. Please, if you are a minor, do not follow adult blogs, stop ignoring our warnings. if you are a blank blog, take some time to not have a sketchy looking blog. More on this topic in this post.

Next…Complaining how there is no new content

YES there is! Some of you only read works by big blogs and only read their work on certain characters. So no, you can't complain there is nothing new for you to read. Many people do not give other writers a chance and only go to 1-3 blogs as the “be all end all” for a fandom or said characters. There is nothing wrong with favorites. That’s not what I’m taking about here. Branch out, there are so many writers, so many creatives, so many stories. The big and popular blogs are not the only ones who have stories to tell and share. Give other people a damn chance.

Okay, that's all I have to say. If anyone is sick of hearing about any of this, I don’t care. You can filter it out or unfollow. All this needs to be said, so I said it. Not just for me, but for all the creators who are frustrated. And trust me, many, if not most are. Some have left already for the above reasons, plus other reasons. This place could end up without content, slowly, eventually if creators continue to leave. So many have already.

Another topic is inner fandom drama but I’m not gonna touch that. Just be kind to each other, don’t be an asshole. Try to keep these spaces enjoyable. For many of us, this is out little escape.

i dont wanna be too shitty to tumblr staff now that i have been in a moderator position and have experienced what thats like i cant imagine having to run a website

but jesus christ tumblr live was like the worst thing they could have ever possibly done. i dont know how much of it was their doing but...

if they wanted to be more like other social medias there was 1billion other ways to do that imo. and that was probably the worst choice

im waiting for twitter to be unusable, i plan on quitting deviant art, i dont like instagram fucking at all, tumblr and twitter were my main places i posted art and i just dont know whats gonna happen from now on

The problem tumblr is facing right now, even aside from all the weird marketing and the increase in ads (by the way, have you seen any emporium posts since that one that went around calling them out for being passive aggressive? Because I haven't), is that they are trying to do what every other social media has been doing for the past 10 years or more: they're trying to have the same features as all the other social medias. The algorithmic "for you" page that everything has now, the livestream feature, even the way they recently updated the video player so that when you slide up on a video, where it used to close the full screen and take you back to your dash, it now scrolls to a completely different video, totally separate from the post you were on, curated by another algorithm. Everything is trying to become tiktok, and now tumblr is following along. Youtube added shorts, facebook and instagram added reels, twitter doesn't have one yet but I fully believe they would have if musk hadn't taken over and gone off the deep end with all the verification stuff instead. They're all chasing the dopamine trap that is tiktok's endless scrolling video feed.

Now idk about you but the reason I enjoy tumblr, the reason I've kept using it for over 10 years, through numerous overhauls and more drama than the average person is meant to experience in a lifetime, is that it's so different. It's completely unique, and it was meant to be. It was designed to be microblogging - whatever that was actually supposed to mean - not social media. More like pinterest than facebook. It's so different, it's so much more about the content that is posted than the people posting it, and that's why it's so much more enjoyable. That's why it's so easy to host fandoms on here, and so easy to share art. There are so many unique features, from the tagging system with its own social conduct rules, to the ask box where you can choose to have a private conversation or completely blast someone's shit everywhere, to even the defunct fanmail system which was literally just there for you to speak to someone with the intention of never getting a reply. I'm not gonna pretend there aren't very many flaws, that there haven't always been, but there are some features that make, and have made, this site a completely different experience from any modern social media. And they're slowly phasing them out in place of the same shitty features you see on every other site, every other app. What's the point? Why make an app that is the same as all the others? How is that going to draw anyone in? Why would I stay here when I can just go use another identical app?

I don't know what the solution is from a user standpoint. I don't know how we can get this across to staff, and I don't think they'll care if they're making money now, because the site never has before. I just wish capitalism didn't do this to everything. I wish I could have something I love stay the same and not be ruined in the pursuit of money.

(had this idea in the shower last night, had to write it down, idk if my 4am shower thoughts are funny but WHATEVER. also i'm a millennial so gen-zers are going to have completely different starting point/context for these things than i do)

social media as locales:

tumblr: this is a quirky place that started as a dive bar but keeps adding stuff randomly so now it's also a coffee shop, bookstore, cat rescue and rock climbing wall. It's a little rough and ready but it's been there forever and you're fond of it. The locals are generally friendly but have all their own in-jokes and cliques and you have to stay awhile to really enmesh with them. For the most part it is a fun place to be, but every day it inexplicably fills with spiders.

Just spiders everywhere. Everyone tries to find where the spiders are coming from and remove their entry points but the spiders are relentless. Fortunately the spiders are relatively harmless and can be escorted outside each morning, but it is still quite irritating to deal with them every day.

twitter: this is a shitty apartment with a shitty landlord who refuses to fix anything and just keeps raising the rent. Unfortunately you need it for work and you can't find a better place in the right area at the moment. You keep saying you're finally going to leave each time a new bit breaks but you know in your heart that you're going to stay until it finally implodes.

tiktok: this is the hot new club where every part of the venue has something exciting to look at. There's something wild in absolutely every corner- dancers, art, musicians, contortionists, magicians, trained animals, light shows etc.

Everyone who goes there wants to chat about the thing they're most passionate about at the highest volume possible. It is a constant litany of sound and images. You go there maybe once every few months and leave immediately because it is TOO MUCH for you. Still you regale your friends with the snippets of experience from your time there.

instagram: this used to be a coffee shop where you could also showcase your art and meet with your friends. The new owners weren't okay with it being moderately successful and decided to remodel to mimic whatever the new hotness is. It is now a shittier version of the tik tok venue.

You have trouble even getting in, can't even see your friends when you do, it is too dark and loud to see any of the art on the walls and it only offers one kind of drink which nobody really cares for.

facebook: this is a place that seemed cool to hang out in when you were younger like maybe a pizza or sandwich joint in your hometown. The food was actually kinda bad and the owner was shitty but it was convenient and close by to everyone you knew. Sometimes you still go back there, mostly just because it's there. It's largely empty, the general vibe is unpleasant and fractious and the whole place smells vaguely of mold.

Thoughts on Marketing, Social Media, and Putting All Your Eggs in One Basket

With Twitter becoming a cesspool, tons of folks are jumping ship. When Space Karen took over, I lost about 100 followers in the first week due to account deactivations. That number continues to decrease each day. Even if I was willing to stay on Twitter, my target audience isn’t, making marketing on Twitter less effective every day.

Twitter is where I built my career. I connected with execs at Shudder, Tony Todd, @flanaganfilm, Patton Oswalt, Tananarive Due and more. Without Twitter, I wouldn’t have landed my TV/film manager, my agent, or my literary rep. I wouldn’t have raised money for my podcasts, NIGHTLIGHT and Afflicted. Sure, I could have found other ways--and will find other ways in the future--but suffice to say that Twitter is a big reason I am where I am today.

Saying goodbye to Twitter doesn’t make me sad, however. What makes me sad is to see what its become. What makes me sad is that, as a former professional marketer, I should have known not to put all my eggs in one basket. I am not sad to leave Twitter. I’m sad that something that was once pretty great is now so awful. I’m also incredibly tired of companies and their unethical business practices. Pretty soon, there won’t be many companies left to support. That’s just how things are now: you can’t spend your money pretty much anywhere without giving it to a grubby little shithead with an ego problem.

Now, I’m scrambling to diversify my marketing, but that’s really difficult when the most effective platforms are owned by corporations...usually run by shitty people. These days, it’s almost impossible for creatives to market ourselves without lining the pockets of some billionaire in the process, who will in turn use that money to do absolutely nothing positive for society.

For those of you who are wondering what the hell you should do going forward for your marketing, let me share my plan:

Diversify. Don’t rely on one platform. My plan is to create content on TikTok and share that on Instagram and Facebook. Some of that content will be stories, some of it will be memes and nonsense, and some of it will be horror-adjacent things like tarot readings. I’ll also be posting stories here on Tumblr instead of Twitter. Eventually, all my Twitter stories will be available here and on my website...

Which leads to my second point--have your own website. It’s the only thing you can truly own. No one can take it away from you. No one can tell who what you can and can’t post. Sure, if you’re a hateful asshole, your host can kick you off, but if you’re just a regular person, you can easily move your site to another host if your current host fails you.

Newsletters: I’m on the fence about this one. While I think they’re an excellent idea, I’m hesitant to try out Substack because Apartheid Clyde has apparently said he wants to buy the platform. If I do a newsletter, I’ll probably go with MailChimp, which has its own issues, but is probably my best option. I do need to do more research, however. All of my stories will be sent via newsletter before they’re available to the public if I choose to start a newsletter. However, newsletters are VERY difficult to do well. People don’t want to hear about your promos--they want stories, art, whatever it is you create. Which means..you’ve got to create even more free content.

Patreon: All of my stories will be published on Patreon before they go live anywhere else. I’ll also have some exclusive content for Patrons. Again, you’re relying on a platform someone else owns, but (so far) I’ve found Patreon to be less evil, and I don’t mind supporting them.

Finally, don’t forget offline marketing. Print out postcards for your podcast, book, art, etc and leave them places they won’t get trashed, but also where your target audience may hang out. The bulletin boards at coffee shops are great for podcasts because folks like to listen to stuff while they work in the shop. Wear your merch (don’t forget a website address or something else to let people know WHAT the merch is about and how they can get the thing you want to sell if they’re interested), and sell merch so others can promote for you!

So, yes, I’m sad that Twitter has become what it has, but I’m also thankful for the kick in the ass to push me to market the right way--across multiple mediums instead of relying on one, which creates a single point of failure.

Genuinely based on how the average tumblr employee seems to be a person who more or less knows what they are doing web-design/keeping a website running wise and most of the issues are from the rotating door of owners and other shitty platforms I think tumblr staff should just try to go employee-owned at this point. Like this website it worth $0 but I honestly trust the average dead exhausted yet somehow still giving it their all tumblr employee over whatever fucking soulless corporation somehow got swindled into buying this hellhole and is determined to ruin it until it spits out money or dies.

I don’t really know if it’s possible but legit the corporations should just give up on us at this point and the employees + the xkit guys should get handed the reigns. Turn tumblr into the next A03. Listen to the users. Do donation drives or implement that icon hat pack idea to make money. I am not kidding I would actually donate money and buy the hats if this site got better, or hell I’d do it now if only because I cannot stand any other social media site and I refuse to use twitter and instagram for anything more than posting about my twitch stream and uploading my fan art.

Tumblr employees should unionize and seize the means of production and run this place at this point, I doubt they could do a worse job than yahoo and wordpress have.

Valentina/@chantalvonrosen, take down the art you ‘created’ by plagiarizing other people’s original art, commissioned designs, and illustrations.

For anyone curious as to how this artist ‘comes up’ with her designs and illustrations, it’s easy to enough to figure that out: theft. Plagiarism and straight up tracing then claiming they’re her own ideas.

I’ll get right to it.

Notice how this post says ‘the Adela / anya challenge begins now.’ There’s something clearly wrong with her. She even admits to trying to make it better than the original... because she clearly plagiarized it. That’s what she’s referring to. So, she’s got this newest design up on chantalvonrosen.tumblr.com (inb4 she deletes it) where she claims the rest of her designs for her ‘new collection’ are on IG. It seems original enough, right? Nope. A mishmash of Ashe from FF12’s outfit and the princess outfit commissioned for Anya shown above, when CLEARLY the princess outfit commissioned for Anya was not hers to copy. Just refer to the ORIGINAL commissioned art above for references to what was plagiarized. Here’s what she posted: (LINK to the IG post, photo below if removed)

Let’s take a closer look:

Still plagiarized. Adding ‘embellishments’ doesn’t make you less of a thief. “I will aways do better,” she says. Do better to make it look like you’re not plagiarizing, you mean? Maybe don’t plagiarize at all. Stop stealing other people’s outfit design commissions. (And it’s not just outfit design commissions. It’s illustrations, too. More examples below.)

Yep. Seeing the pattern here? Anyway, I have no grand conclusion except that @chantalvanrosen (tumblr) / nereide_ondine (twitter) / wantedtiride (twitter) / nereideondine (instagram, but careful because she kept changing usernames when one of the artists posted about the theft) is a thief and a tracer who publishes art and designs and claims they were all her original ideas and work.

NOTE: She offers commissions on her ko-fi where one of her rules is "I decide the pose in which the character will be." See here: (LINK to her ko-fi page, pic below in case she changes urls or whatever)

I mean, this is probably a rule because she has to find someone else’s work she can trace before she can add your character’s details to it. Yikes.

Again, just wanted to show that @chantalvanrosen (tumblr) / nereide_ondine (twitter) / valentina/rossana montesano / wantedtiride (twitter) / nereideondine (instagram) is a thief and a tracer who publishes art and designs and claims they were all her original ideas and work.

I’d be skeptical about commissioning her on ko-fi because she’d probably trace someone else’s work and then you’re stuck with a shitty copy of the original.

Stop stealing, Valentina. Stop publishing outfit designs and illustrations you’ve clearly plagiarized acting like you can do better than the og artists. You can’t do better because you started out from a place of stealing. It’s disgusting and pathetic. Work on your own art for real so you can actually come up with your own designs. Copying other people’s designs then adding embellishments does NOT make you an original creator. It just makes you ... you guessed it, a thief.

This is a sort of Check-in Tag game thing? I was tagged by @vikingstrash, so thank you dear!

1. Why did you choose your url?

I used to have a different tumblr, and then my sister saw me on it and literally took the mouse and made me follow her own tumblr, and it made me So Immensely uncomfortable, I immediately went and made a whole new blog, and messaged all my mutuals privately to tell them I was moving so my sister wouldn't find out. As I struggled to come up with something more creative than 'time-lady," I remembered one of my mom's favorite sayings, "Reality sucks, live in fiction" and since livinginfiction was taken, my friend (who was helping with the crisis) and I added an 's.' Voila. Seven years later, it's the only username i have online. XD

2. Any side blog?

Three, actually. We've got @merthurismycrack where I reblog Merthur shit, @samspsychicpowers for some SPN stuff, and the side blog that's basically my main blog at this point: @asterekmess which is where all my Teen Wolf and Sterek stuff goes.

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

Uhhh, I've been on this blog since August of 2014, but my old blog was started in....March 2013. I've been around a fucking while.

4. Do you have a queue tag?

HA. Fuck no. Do I look that organized? Y'all get three hours of spam reblogs, and then I disappear into the aether. How it should be. XD

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

This is essentially the same as I said for question one. Sister found the old blog, and I needed a new one. I tend to make my side blogs for more pointed material, so that my main blog can have like...the amalgamation of general stuff i like, and then I can keep the fandomy content more concentrated into the side blogs.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

Originally, I did not have this icon. I had this pic I found online with these Beautiful bronze wings against a black background. But then, around the time I decided I wanted to sort of...simplify things and make my username for my online stuff all the same, with all the same pfp's so that I was easily recognized, etc, I realized that....that picture was not mine. I didn't design it or anything. And i couldn't find its source to ask for permission to use it. And it started making me feel shitty for using it in the first place. So I spent like an hour and a half trying to make my Own Wing pic to use, and failed miserably. As a last ditch effort, i went through my 'artistic' photos on my phone and found this one. I adore sky pics, and cloud pics, etc, so it was super my thing, and I just slapped it on there. Still not sick of it. XD I also went to my side blogs and changed out the pfp's for photos that I'd taken, except the sterek blog, because that one is literally just a black triskelion on a white background, and it's a pretty non-specific thing. I would have used a picture of my Own Tattoo, but it's very hard to get a picture of my back that doesn't have weird lighting, and I'm just too lazy.

7. Why did you choose your header?

All my headers are also photos that I've taken or art pieces that I've made. In the case of this blog, it's a picture I made with a 'galaxy maker' online thingy. I love green. I love blue. Ta dah. In general i just try to find something that gives me the right vibes or has the right color palette to match what it's for. (orange and blue for sterek, trees for merlin, and wings for spn)

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

On this blog? I.....just spent two hours digging through all my posts tagged 'personal' bc i wanted the post that I MADE with the most notes...and i have no idea. I mostly respond to other posts, rather than making my own. The highest note count i can find is a post i made abt having friends that aren't in your fandom, which means you can use inspirational quotes to help them through tough times without them realizing ur quoting doctor who or something. 22 notes. *fingerguns* I'm famous, i know.

9. How many mutuals do you have ?

Is...is that a thing i can check?? or do you expect me to hand count??

10. How many followers do you have right now?

Uhghhghghgh, this blog has 439 at the moment, and i'm pretty sure not a lot of those are porn bots, bc i usually screen new followers for it. a lot of them have come over from my sterek blog though.

hehe....uh...36.....one of which is my husband....

12. Have you ever made a shitpost?

I don't even know what the requirements for something being a 'shitpost' are....but i think no?

Uh, nearly every day, multiple times a day. Sometimes i forget it exists for a couple days, though. It's my only social media. I dont use twitter or facebook or instagram. I Have Accounts, but I literally dont open those apps more than once a month.

14. Did you have a fight /argument with another blog ? Who won?

My sterek blog gets in fights more often than it should. XD I'm feisty. And I dunno who wins, i think no one. it's tumblr. there's no real winning or losing.

15. How do feel about “ you need to reblog this” post?

Oh 90% of the time I'll fucking ignore it on principle. I come to tumblr to enjoy myself and escape. I refuse to guilt the shit out of myself and my followers for not reblogging something deemed Essential. I don't care how deep the topic is or how heavy. Sometimes that's WHY I'm not reblogging it, because I don't want that shit on my blog. The other 10% of the time, I'll go to most recent reblog that Doesn't have the guilty shit on it, and then reblog that.

16. Do you like tag games?

It sounds narcissistic, but I like being tagged in them and doing them. I just Really Really Really hate tagging anyone else.

this used to be an art only tumblr but i got bored and i’m world’s slowest artist so it just transitioned into a place i throw fandom and funny things too

i’m considering making an art-only tumblr but at the same time, bc of the exodus based on shitty tumblr implementation of the 2018 ban, i’ve been focusing on transitioning over to twitter (a platform i actually hate bc it’s even harder to organize media and it constantly floods my tl with algorithm-chosen activity)

Who’s the first to wake up in the morning: absolutely no question Steve. Kate may be UP at 5 AM but that just means she didn’t go to bed

Who’s the one to make breakfast: look, I don’t think either one of them cook very well, so it’s usually a matter of “who is going out to get breakfast” and that’s Steve. Kate is in charge of coffee. He cannot make it. He is not allowed near the coffee. He doesn’t understand how to make it. Also, Kate can make really good scrambled eggs and Steve can manage the toaster, so there’s that.

Who’s the one to serve the other breakfast in bed: the bed isn’t for EATING, that’s what the couch is for

Who would suggest a quickie in the morning before work: asdfgdksljd both of them. If you were to ask them Steve would say Kate and Kate would say Kate but it’s actually pretty evenly distributed. Kate is more likely to initiate sex that is satisfactory to all parties and Steve is more likely to just go down on Kate before work and he always looks really smug about it

Who suggests they both ditch work to lay around all day: you know what, it’s Steve. Kate takes her job Seriously and Steve is all “I’m a hundred years old, Kate, oh my back” or whatever. Steve has been known to ditch his Avenger stuff and hang out while Kate is PI-ing or doing stuff with her team. He never interferes or anything, he’s just sort of…there

Who chooses the movies: Usually Kate–they have a whole list of Movies Steve Needs to See they’re working through, and a huge list of TV shows to binge, but every now and then, Steve will hear of something or someone will tell him about a movie and they’ll watch that.

Who initiates kissing during the moving, thus distracting the other from the movie all together: look, i hate to say it but also Steve? For the most part. Because Kate would Never Distract him from Cinematic Excellence provided it is truly excellent but if they’re watching a shitty movie or a boring TV show Kate will just crawl on his lap and Steve is really easily distracted. Kate takes the initiative; Steve will do the whole arm-stretch thing

Who orders lunch: Kate, when she remembers. Usually it’s one of their friends or teammates who is like “please go eat some fucking lunch.”

Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking: oh absolutely Kate. Steve needs a shitton of calories because of the supersoldier stuff but he would NEVER steal Kate’s food. Kate’s justification is that Steve always has so much food???? They COULD just order another side of fries but food is always so much better when it’s been taken from someone else’s plate. Sometimes Steve catches her which means the food stays Steve’s but quite often he doesn’t realize she’s stolen his food until she’s eating it. It’s very impressive.

Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy: Oh, both. Steve pretends he’s not tired and he’ll sketch or something but eventually he winds up conked out with a sketchpad on one knee, his head tipped back on the back of the couch, and Kate curled up next to him, using his thigh as a pillow.

Who distracts the other from trying to work at home: Steve, oh my god he’s such a baby. To be fair, he usually ends up helping Kate with PI stuff but first he gives her these big puppydog eyes and suggests taking walks and visiting food trucks or walking shelter dogs or anything

Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old: Kate

Who takes pictures of their partner eating ice cream: Kate. She’s got, like, a whole instagram to use that Billy goes apeshit over and Steve only likes social media when it’s twitter

Who makes a sexual joke about the dripping ice cream on their partner’s face: Kate, only Steve usually takes it as a challenge which is how they almost got arrested that one time

Who cooks dinner: neither of them cooks

Who cleans up the kitchen afterwards: Kate? Steve just puts dishes in the sink. Kate will fill the dishwasher and Steve will empty it.

Who stays up until 2 reading: Steve. Kate stays up doing other things but Steve probably has reading glasses and a stack of nonfiction that’s super dry and a stack of YA books that Kate’s team keeps adding to

Who stares at their partner while their sleeping: Steve. Kate isn’t a peaceful sleeper by any means and she takes up so much room considering that she’s, like, two feet shorter than he is, but watching her sleep is calming, and it reminds Steve of where and when he is

Who kisses their partner while they sleep: Kate. Usually it’s like kissing the shoulder or the back of Steve’s neck (how is there not a question about big/little spoon here, Kate is the big spoon SO MUCH). It’s also pretty rare that Steve is asleep while Kate is not, so usually this happens after Steve had a mission or got hurt or is having a rough time and Kate just needs reassurance that he’s there.

So for Stuckate I’m doing post-Thanos Riptide Stuckate where they’re retired and going back to college because Reasons. Also tumblr was a little bitch and ate this the first time, so let’s try again.

Also, laying around all day usually involves a Spa Day and/or Bucky and Kate doing Nothing while Steve sketches

Who chooses the movies: Bucky! Bucky gets to choose whatever the fuck he wants. When he doesn’t feel like picking it’s Kate. If none of them have the mental capacity to pick they text David and Sam

Who orders lunch: If we’re talking about wrangling people to make sure they eat, it’s Steve, who generally remembers that they need to eat. If it’s a matter of bringing food to people who are busy, that’s Kate. Sometimes Steve loses track of time in the studio. Kate is also the one shoving ungodly amounts of granola bars and high protein snacks in the boys’ bags. Bucky is the one who finds all of the nice diners and the cool cafes and stuff.

Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking: All of them do. Bucky’s just the only one who never gets caught in the act.

Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy: it’s a secret, don’t tell anyone, but it’s Bucky. Someone starts petting his hair and he’s out, man.

Who distracts the other from trying to work at home: it’s not like they have steady jobs but Steve gets really into art again, so he usually paints and sketches a lot at home. Sometimes Kate and Bucky try to distract him, usually by stripping or making out with one another and it only works about half the time because Steve will absolutely draw Kate and Bucky in intimate positions. YEAH I SAID IT

Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old: Steve always wants a Snack Break, and Bucky knows where all the small mom-and-pop ice cream places are
