I'm struggling today; struggling to figure out who I am and become confident in my identity as a disabled person. Struggling to accept myself as I am because, I feel like there is SO much that my body should be able to do that it just can't. Add starting up physical therapy again on top of it, and my will to live is seriously dwindling... I hate the way they look at me, and I hate the way they make me feel. The pity on their faces kills me. Tomorrow we're going to the zoo, and I have to use a wheelchair or I can't go.. and that too hurts me. It shouldn't but, it does. I just wish I could be "that" girl for one day, the healthy girl that I never got to be. #chronicillness #chronicallyillauthor #ChronicPain #ChronicPainLife #ChronicPainAwareness #Insomnia #InvisibleDisability #InvisibleIllness #InvisibleIllnessAwareness #Spoonie #NoSpoons #SickAutoimmuneDisease #sickgirlproblems #sick #wheelchair #BabeWithMobilityAids #TheysWithMobilityAids #emotional #alternativegirl #shethey #Depression #dysphoria #DisabledCreator #disabledbutnotreally #disabledandcute (at Ingleside, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ckj-8O5N3MD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today is not a good day for me. The pain in my head is getting to be unbearable. The tears that fall leave me in thought of this is how I die. Will my head finally give???

It’s amazing what can happen in a day. 1 minute you’re being blue lighted to the hospital and the next you’re home finding your hubby has been on a cleaning frenzy, the cats taken up permanent residence under the tree, hubby left you an early Christmas pressie and made you brekky while you are able to sit and chill at home watching Christmas movies. . . It’s been a bit of a weekend not gonna lie. I am going live this afternoon for#vlogmas and #onejobaday Day 12. So if you want to find out more and learn a couple more techniques to making paper snowflakes while hanging out and chatting up a storm about all kinds of weirdness then please join us 3pm GMT . . #bloosselfreliance #thebloopixie #vlogmas #onejobaday #handmadechristmas #christmasonabudget #invisibleillnessawareness https://www.instagram.com/p/CmEDmoHK1Zl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Life with Invisible and Chronic illness like a flu that never goes away. . Don't stereotype, assume, judge or suspect the illness or pain you can't see. Having an invisible chronic illness is hard enough. Being doubted judged and dismissed is heartbreaking.

I always have people ask me, "how are you?"
My answer is usually "okay."
What else am I supposed to say?...
I'm in pain all the time, I have new symptoms happening to me, I'm overwhelmed, I feel like a horrible mom because I'm always to tired and hurting to much to play and run around with my kid and to top it off I feel like I'm failing as a wife and I'm extremely depressed and feel lonely even though I'm around people who I know I love me so then I feel even more depressed and bad for feeling lonely and depressed.
It's a vicious circle I feel like I can't escape!!!

@the_chronic_notebook Implementing education about medical gaslighting as a small part medical school and medical training, in a way where patients perspectives are considered and incorporated could make a massive difference. Patients have spoken extensively about how medical gaslighting has impacted them, the harm it's done, the misdiagnosis and mistreatment of those with chronic illness, mental illness, neurodivergency and more. So here's a thread about that #chronicillness #chronicpain #chronicillnessawareness #chronicpainawareness #chronicillnesssupport #invisibleillness #invisibleillnessawareness #disability #disabled #disabilityawareness #spoonie #autoimmunedisease #ibd #lupus #eds #arthritis #fibromyalgia #mecfs #dysautonomia #endometriosis #pcos #mentalhealth #neurodivergent #chronicmigraine #medicalgaslighting #chronicfatigue #potssyndrome #lymedisease #health Image Description: White text on aqua background Slide 1: "Why they should teach medical gaslighting in medical school a thread" Slide 2 : " Medical gaslighting is one of the largest issues facing patients, particularly patients who are chronically ill, female, disabled or from minority backgrounds Slide 3 " Medical gaslighting includes; disbelieving symptoms, downplaying their impact, not taking them seriously, assuming diagnosis without tests, refusing further action, making a patient feel unheard" Slide 4 "Medical gaslighting is a lot more common than people realise because it isn't spoken about enough. It can be very dangerous and lead to misdiagnosis, mistreatment and severely impact a patients quality of life" Slide 5 " Research suggests that medical gaslighting is rooted in stigmas around certain communties and illness like- young people can't be sick, period problems are normal, it's always stress/exercise/weight related Slide 6 " So in many cases alternatives are often not considered or diagnosed until the point where it has already severely impacted a patients quality of life. This is dangerous" Slide 7 " Patients have spoken extensively on the impact and danger of medical gaslighting, however many medical professionals are probably unaware of its existence or how it arises" https://www.instagram.com/p/CT7Udx0rd0X/?utm_medium=tumblr

#Repost @spoonies_united ・・・ One would think that after 20+ years of chronic illnesses I would be done with the grieving of who I was. I am once again popping by to say hello. 👋🏻 I used to post so much more frequently on here but after my life pretty much was falling apart when COVID started in early 2020, I felt like I couldn’t share things on here. • I have always been all about promoting that having Crohn’s doesn’t define me and showing people you can accomplish SO much despite your chronic illness, so when I was laid off due to COVID and had to make some major life decisions and changes for my family I just felt like such a failure and didn’t want people seeing the struggle. • But after going through so many ups and downs since early 2020, and continuing to experience them, I’ve realized that it’s important to be real. So much social media is just a person’s “highlight reel” and we never see what goes on behind the scenes or the struggles they are facing. As much as I claim I’m an open book, I’ve realized I’m an open book when it comes to my health, but pretty closed when it deals with my career, family, and aspirations. Which is totally fine. But I think it’s important to reiterate to stop comparing yourself to people on social media. You are only seeing small pieces of their life. I’d compare it to seeing one page from each chapter of a 1000 page book and the book is a person’s life. . . . . . #crohns #crohnie #crohnsdisease #crohnsandcolitis #colitis #ulcerativecolitis #crohnswarrior #autoimmunedisease #chronicillness #ibd #ibdwarrior #ibdsuperheroes #friendswithcrohns #spoonie #chronicillnesswarrior #ibdawareness #invisibleillness #crohnsawareness #invisibleillnessawareness #invisibleillnesswarrior https://www.instagram.com/p/CUz4N2QgJyD/?utm_medium=tumblr

As humans we completely forgot that it is ok to NOT be OK. Do to the ages we live in where our lives are pretty much available for anyone to see 24/7 it's hard to allow ourselves to be vulnerable for a second.... or just say I'm NOT OK TODAY. We need to remember NOT being OK is part of our nature. We are afterglow humans. All unique in our own ways! Rememver it's not selfish, self centered or seeking attention to want to share with everyone that.... hey I'm not ok today. It could be a physical illness, mental illness or even the invisible illnesses. We need to start accepting eachother for allowing those vulnerable moments to be shared and be honored that someone has trusted you with that information because it was hard for them to admit it. If you're struggling I am here to listen without judgment but with open arms. And I see you boo getting up everyday putting on that smile when your body hurts, your mind is sad or down right you just don't feel good..... I see you and you're an amazing human. And it's ok to NOT be OK. Love you all! ❤ #oktonotbeok #itsokaynottobeokay #itsokaytonotbeokay #mentalhealthawareness #physicalhealthawareness #invisibleillnessawareness #invisibleillness #mentalhealth #physicalhealth #selflove #selfcareisimportant #calimom #postpartumdepression #momlife #wearehuman #wearehumans #bekind #bekindtoyourself #dontbehardonyourself #livelife #livelifetothefullest https://www.instagram.com/p/CRVm1Zqr36T/?utm_medium=tumblr
