Wanderer AU | Isabela & Antonio

Isabela and Antonio were together when their AU was terminated; the animal life integrating first before the world around them but instead of following their world’s fate, they found themselves in a jungle; not Encanto Jungle either.

Despite hours of walking, of trying to find a place or other humans, there were none. Isabela decided to set up shelter using her gift, growing up think plants and thick branches around them like a protective ball against the trunk of a large tree to be off the ground, putting other herbs and plants scents around to keep any animals and insects at bay while they slept.

Antonio found the adjustment hard, not only with the loss of their family; not knowing what happened but the voices of the animals, he could hear like whispers while Isabela heard nothing.

Getting food was relatively easy, given Isabela's gift which wasn’t the issue, fruits also gave them hydration but they still needed proper forms of water, especially Isabela whose gift became more taxing as growing more plants took more energy than she was taking in.

Through listening to idol prattle of distant animals, Antonio was able to locate the water source; a large river.

At the river, Antonio was able to befriend some of the animals, despite the caution the animals had with them; one of them being a jaguar, Rico that was similar to Parce. To help curry favour with the animals, Isabela grew fruits and nuts seeds.

Through the birds, they learned that they weren’t just stuck in large jungle, but a contestant large jungle at minimum. Human populations laid within but far apart and very primitive.

Isabela and Antonio opted to travel to find a human group, Rico in tow.

It took two weeks before they found signs of human life but they were ambushed by a hunting party. Rico ran off but the two were taken to the tribe.

Given Isabela’s beauty and Antonio’s affinity for animals, the tribesmen sensed that there was more to the two than two lost people.

Despite the fact the two looked very different and to keep together, Isabela claimed Antonio was her son as means to avoid marriage from interested men, not that it deterred the interest too much

But things didn’t change until Isabela used her abilities to defend herself when rumors suggested she was from antoher tribe, send to spy and launch an attack for their land; someone wanted to kill her to prevent this.

The tribe came to the understanding that the two were gods; the woman who could control plants and her son that could control the animals. A link that seemed to legitimise Isabela’s lie of Antonio being her child. The attitude changed from commodity to worship very quickly.

Antonio was able to get Rico back and befriended a few tribe’s animals in their stay. Isabela though insisted to learn more of survival; how to weave; make fires and such and also had Antonio learn as well.

Twenty years passed before anything really changed for the two.

Learnt skills became important as a seize of a much bigger tribe came with war, they lost the land by fire attacks, but Isabela was able to save a portion of of the tribe and fled with them to uninhabited land where Isabela created a network of trees to change the forest layout.

The small tribe set up home inside a small valley, scares of trees until Isabela got involved; covering them from view from any potential hostilities.

New trees led to a migration of animal life, exploration under a waterfall les to a cave system. Inside, Isabela found a ruined temple but inside on a pedestal was a glowing necklace.

Isabela put it on and her powers grew, bonding more with the wildlife and her environment and elevating the protection over her valley. She took the temple as her room, Antonio often staying with her in her nests she made for him and his animal friends to sleep in

On the walls, she drew pictures of her family; fearing she’ll forget her family as Antonio grew to believe that Isabela was his mother, not her Tia Pepa.

For those 20 years in the big tribe, Antonio’s memory isn’t as good as his prima’s, so his memories of his parents and siblings are faint; since he’s dependant on Isabela, to her, she is his mami, even if not biologically but that wasn’t important to him. She’s been looking after him, making sure he was fed, watered and clean; keeping him safe.

Decades to a century passed, the saved tribe growing in number but the two stayed the same as they had done since they started, Rico’s descendants also a part of Antonio’s life.

Burn of the jungle hearts AU: what happens to the family back in the encanto? If any of them ran away/after Bruno, would their own innate magic be released? Would they find Bruno's village? What's the village layout like? How many people live there? Are they agrarian or hunter/gatherer? I think you mentioned Bruno adopting/having kids at some point, what are they like? Is this too many questions at once? *silently hopes for some Isabela content b/c she is my favorite*

His sisters and mother were devasted, Alma felt terrible for not listening to him and searched for him all day along with Julieta and Pepa. His sisters felt terrible for not intervening and want to Apologize to him but couldn't. The sisters were suffering in their own heads too much to confront Alma.

A few weeks pass and they are meant with the horrible truth that Bruno left the Encanto entirely.

2. More or less, If they felt the same way he did then their magic would be the same as his but their gifts would still be intact for safety reasons.

3. If they did leave after he left they would find his village but not for like weeks at a time.

4. The villagers(and Bruno) live in some ancient temples that are on top and underground. Bruno's magic lantern somehow rebuilt the temples. the villagers have been traveling for days so they basically said "screw it" and lived in the temples.

and the top is like this but add a little bit more Jungle around it(Bruno lives in the biggest temple since he's the matriarch)

5. About 300-400(in counting) villagers, some people come across this place and decide to live there as well. But it takes a long time before you are trusted.

6. They are advanced like Bruno but lots of people have come in and tried to rule the place and they slowly over time they became territorial and feisty(would you blame them? raiders have come into their village more than once trying to take the place).

Since they live in nature they try to respect it as much as they can and when they hear poachers invading places they shouldn't be they go into hunter mode. I'll talk about that more in another post

Also, you don't have to stay in the village if you want to leave you can leave just don't tell anybody about the place. the village is also home to a lot of other magic wielders and some of them have taught magic on how to hide the animalistic traits.

7. Yes Bruno does have kids, he has three.

Illiana - Is a very smart 21 yr old girl and answers to nobody. She takes care of the crops and foliage life with some other villagers who do the same. She likes making weapons and Explosives for getting rid of poachers and just in general.

She likes combat and is the only one that likes training with her Abuela. She's planning on moving somewhere across the sea to be in the military(let's pretend girls can be in the military back then).

2. Max - is a quiet but very adventurous 15yr old boy. He likes drawing in his journal and writing books. He keeps to himself mostly but helps with farming and gathering fruits and such. He hopes that he can become a writer like his dad someday and that his books will sell by the millions.

3. Angelica - Is a sweet and hopeful 5 yr old girl. She likes architecture and likes drawing buildings and temples that she hopes her father could build someday. When she's not doing that she's helping her brother with fruit picking or party planning. She's very talkative and loves hanging out in high trees so she can swing across them.

Bruno also has adopted 4 other families.

The Garcia family - Sofia(35) and Valeria(33) Garcia and their four kids Alexander(7), Valentina(14), Jesus(1), and Manuel(2).

2. Abuela Camila(71) and her two twin grandsons Jorge(6) and Juancho(6).

3. Sebastian(35) and Estrella(36) Hernandez and their 2 kids Sebastian Jr (12) and Elena(16)

4. Turquoise Gomez(55) and her daughter luna(15)

I'll do a post that addresses each of the family's Info and roles in the village.

If you had a peso for every time someone comes running to you for advice or comfort, you'll be the richest in Encanto. Sadly, it wasn't the case. Growing up, you were taught to be kind and sympathetic. At a young age, you grew to learn how to provide a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen to for people. Many have said that it was your talent, your gift. It took a while until your name is known in town for being that one typical therapist friend.

Currently, you sit awkwardly under a tree shade while listening to Isabela Madrigal, she happened to be one of your frequent customers. She blabbered about everything that irritated her, it was nice to see her break free from the perfect mold Abuela Madrigal has made for her. As much as you liked seeing the woman express herself, you can't help but feel stressed about it.

"Like I don't get why when others say it, it's empowering but when I say it, I sound like a puta!"

Isabela gruffed. You truly understand the struggle she's sharing but damn she didn't have to literally share everything with you, it just made you feel obligated to fix her problems. Nevertheless, you sighed.

"I think the reason why they think you sound like...uh, a puta, it's because of the tone of your voice"

"What about it?"

"You sound...you sound like you have a stick up in your ass all the time"

You winced at your own words, you might've rephrased that badly. Isabel was silent for a while until she lets out a loud chuckle, you were nervous that you might've offended her.

"Do I really sound like I always have a stick up in my ass?"

"Yeah...but not all the time! Haha, I think you need to calm down a bit, Isabela"

"Yeah, I think I should lay back on my tone. Anyways, gracias for the talk [Name]!"

Isabela says and waves goodbye. The moment she was out of your peripheral vision, you released a loud exhale. You've been bottling up the tension ever since Isabela walked towards you and started ranting without bothering to ask if it was okay. Eventually, you started preparing for lunch. You were eating empanadas nearby Julieta Madrigal's food stand when a very familiar girl approaches you discreetly. You gasped, the girl had tears streaming down her cheeks. You ushered her out of prying eyes, you take out your handkerchief and handed it to her.

"Are you...okay, Veronica?"

"Oh, [Name]!"

Veronica wailed and threw herself into your arms. You stood awkwardly and waited for her to finish crying, you stiffly give her soft pats on the back. Soon enough, she pulls away.

"Eduardo and I broke up!"

Ah shit, here we go again

"Uh...like, for good?"

You asked and Veronica nods her head and then proceeds to cry again. You and Veronica were friends since childhood, she was the epitome of rainbows and butterflies. But she was emotional, akin to Pepa Madrigal, you'll always comment on how their personalities are alike. As for Veronica's case, she often ran to you for relationship advice. The girl complains about her staggering relationship with Eduardo every time for years! She'll come and say she broke up with him then all of a sudden you'll see them all lovey-dovey in the town's square. It seemed like all the advice you were giving her kept magically disappearing in her head.

"I'm convinced he doesn't like me anymore!"

"Maybe it's because you're clingy...not that I think it's bad! Haha"

Veronica blows her nose then spares you a soft glare. You wanted to tell her so badly that she was being too clingy that it barely made poor Eduardo breathe.

"But I thought he liked me being clingy?"

"Amiga, everybody needs their space. You can't just like you know...keep suffocating them with affection all the time..?"

You gently told the girl. There was a moment of silence, Veronica frowns and crosses her arms. You knew well that she was a tough cookie to convince.

"Maybe...like I don't know, you and Eduardo aren't just...meant to be-?"

"Don't say that [Name]! I don't wanna end up like Maria in one of Bruno Madrigal's rat telenovelas! Maria and César were meant to be together! Just like me and Eduardo!"

She gushed. You were aware of her interest in Bruno Madrigal's romantic rat telenovelas, though it seems like she liked taking every story at heart, that she'll meet her novio someday and live happily ever after. You took a deep breath.

"Sometimes not everything is like the telenovelas. Just...just give it some time, Veronica. You'll meet your amor someday"

"You really mean that?"

"I me-mean, yeah, sure...of course!"

Veronica gives you a bone-crushing hug, thanking profusely for being such an amazing friend. She leaves satisfied with your service. You bite back a groan, now that lunch is over (and interrupted), you made your way back home to start with your chores.

You plopped on your bed, exhausted. You've been dealing with people's problems all day and to top it all off, you've been doing chores too. You're beyond drained at this point, finally reaching your limit. As you close your eyes, you couldn't hear the footsteps outside your door. The door bursts open as you let out a scream, you looked over and saw it was only Camilo. You let out a relieved sigh and he laughs.

"How is the best person in the world doing?"

Camilo greets you and takes a seat on your bed. He watches you lying face-first on the mattress, almost motionless. He raised a brow, taking a hint of your unresponsiveness. He looks at you with worry. Camilo was familiar with your caring nature and how a lot of people in Encanto relied on you. Sympathetic, caring, kind, and understanding, not to mention you were very attractive too. Camilo would be running to you for advice even if he didn't need it.

"Ey, are you okay there, [Name]?"

The shapeshifter asks. You turned and faced the ceiling, you ran a hand through your hair and softly tugged the roots. Camilo can read your frustration and stress. He noticed your habit of shouldering everybody's problems and barely speaking of your own. It was unfair to him. An idea forms inside his head. He grinned and decided to shapeshift into you.

"How about a free therapy session with, well, yourself!"

Camilo says enthusiastically in your voice. It causes you to look at him with disbelief. The shapeshifter takes a seat beside you as you continue to lay down and stare at the ceiling, you were thinking twice if he was being satirical or not. Eventually, with a sigh, you decided to bite the bait.

"I...I don't know what to say, uh...[Name]?"

"Say anything at all, I wouldn't mind"

You couldn't help but chuckle at that, it's what you always said to people every time, sometimes when you say it you always didn't mean it.

"Alright then. I...I have trouble saying no to people when they're begging for advice. I don't get why it's so hard to say that, I feel...obligated to lift their burdens when I know shouldn't"

"Keep going"

Camilo insists. Honestly, it was weird having a conversation with yourself. Though you felt like you needed this. You needed to let the frustration out, and express what's bothering you.

"I know I...I was taught to be sympathetic but mierda it's so hard to maintain it! It's hard to like...smile and listen to whatever shit people have to say, I'm trying my best not to cuss at them, haha"

"I think people forget that I'm a person too and I have my own problems! Isabela, I love her and all, but wow does she complain about everything to me every time! And dios, don't get me started on Veronica and her fucking relationship struggles"

"Sometimes...I think I'm going loca because I'm having these...these random bursts of anger when I'm alone like every little thing irritates me"

"I have to juggle doing chores at home and offering people advice. I don't know why they think I'm a wise person. I...I make stupid shit! I'm not...flawless. And..."

You stopped and took in a huge breath. You were surprised that you were holding in your breath since you began ranting. You felt somewhat guilty for sharing what you feel. Camilo has been listening to you the entire time, understanding your situation. He wanted to return the favor for all the times you've listened to his problems before. You sat up on your bed, he can see the rising dark circles in your eyes.

"Lo siento, Camilo. I didn't mean to-"

"Shhhh. Don't be sorry, you needed to do that"

Camilo engulfs you in a comforting embrace, he involuntary shifts back into himself as he rubs soft circles on your back. You sniffed and melted in his arms, accepting his affection with open arms.

"Mu-mucho gracias, Camilo"

"Ey, no problem. I'm here if you need someone to talk to"

You buried your face in the crook of his neck and let a few relieved stray tears fall. Camilo didn't have to tug on your heartstrings like that, you're starting to get the wrong idea. The shapeshifter was content with you relaxing in his arms, his entire body was all fuzzy, butterflies swarming in his stomach. He'll do anything to make you feel like this again.

The two of you pulled away with identical smiles. Camilo ruffles your hair affectionately and you softly laughed. You were blushing right now because you enjoyed being in his arms too much, he smelled warm, comforting, and you just wanna bury yourself alive in his touch. Camilo notices your prolonged gaze at him.

"Enjoying the sight, [Name]?"

He begins to tease. You pulled on a sour face and turned away, denying that you were indeed enjoying the sight of Camilo Madrigal. It took you several seconds to say fuck it and lean in to give a quick peck on his cheek as a thank you. Camilo stood frozen with eyes as wide as the moon, did you just give him a kiss on the cheek?

"Did you just-?"

"¡Cállate!"

You shout with cheeks as red as a cherry while realization kicks in. You proceed to push him out of your room as you shut the door. You covered your face with your hands and let out a silent scream. You couldn't believe you just did that!

On the other side of the door, Camilo was motionless and holding the cheek you previously kissed him on. A wild smile erupts on his face as he fist-pumps the air, letting out tiny sounds of joy and 'let's fucking goooo!'. If giving you a free therapy session means you'll grant him another kiss, Camilo would do it a thousand more times.
