Anything With You
A short one this time
Featuring Charles in his streamer era
Tumblr media
She opened the door slowly, trying her best not to disturb Charles as he streamed his game with his friends. Because his back was to the door, it was almost guaranteed that she’d be seen by the camera but there was no way around it. She needed to get some snacks stashed in the shelf in front of Charles’ computer and she couldn’t do that unless she entered the room.
“Y/N!” George greeted upon seeing her, his voice blaring through the speakers causing Charles to turn to her with a smile on his face.
“Cherie,” Charles greeted as the rest of the Quartet greeted her. “Do you need something?”
“Sorry,” Y/N said sheepishly as she ducked her head in an effort to hide herself, “I just wanted to get some snacks. I’m going to watch a movie in the living room.”
“I’ll watch with you,” Charles declared, standing up immediately as he reached for the snack he knew was Y/N’s favorite.
“No, you don’t have to,” Y/N protested, “continue your game. I’ll be okay.”
“He’s so whipped!” Lando cackled but Charles only ignored him, clicking something in his keyboard that silenced his friends jeers as he handed her the snack.
“I will watch with you,” Charles said eagerly.
“You don’t have to,” Y/N insisted, fighting her smile. “You can continue your game, Cha.”
Charles frowned, his lips jutting out in a pout. “But I want to watch with you.”
“Babe, continue your game. I’ll be fine!” Y/N laughed as she exited the room with Charles following after her, his pout growing deeper. “I want to watch alone. Go stream, seriously.”
“But why?” He all but whined.
“I’m watching a rom-com, babe. I don’t think you’d enjoy it.”
“Yes, I will. I’ll enjoy anything so long as its with you.”
Y/N raised a brow. “You want to watch a rom-com with me?”
“Yes, cherie,” Charles said determinedly, “please let me watch with you.” And then, to Y/N’s surprise, Charles’ eyes widened, his pout deepened, looking like a little puppy abused by its owner.
“Charles!” Y/N gasped, unable to stop her bubbling laughter. “Fine! You can watch with me.”
Instantly, Charles’ demeanor changed. His pout turned into a triumphant grin, his eyes almost sparkling in joy. “I’ll go exit my stream.”
“You’re lucky you muted them. If your friends ever found out how clingy you are, they’d make fun of you.”
“Oh please, they’re even clingier to their girlfriends,” Charles said with a roll of his eyes as he went back into his game room.
Y/N simply shook her head, a chagrined but loving grin on her face as she turned the TV on and chose the movie she’d been meaning to watch.
“Cherie?” Charles suddenly called out.
“What?”
“George, Alex and Lando are laughing at me and my Twitch comments are calling me whipped.”
This time, Y/N couldn’t stop her loud guffaw. “I thought you muted them!”
“I didn’t mute us.”
And then George, Alex and Lando’s laughing voices blared from Charles’s speakers as he unmuted them, filling their quiet apartment.
“She’s got you wrapped around her finger, mate!” Alex chortled.
“Charles and Y/N sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” George snickered.
“I’ll enjoy anything so long as it’s with you!” Lando mocked.
“You are such children!” Y/N called out from where she sat. “I’m telling Carmen, Lily and Luisa!”
But all they did was laugh until the speakers abruptly silenced itself as Charles turned his stream off, emerging from the room with a sheepish smile, a blanket around his shoulders and snacks between his hands.
Y/N peered at him. “You sure you still want to watch a rom-com with me rather than finish your stream?”
“Absolutely,” he said with a firm nod as he took the free seat next to her. “Anything so long as it’s with you.”

How's Camilo doing? I hope he's suffering a lot
Itching forever.
~~~~~~
Because of everything, nobody was really having dinner together.
It was more unintentionally staggered intervals of people making their own food or eating stuff Julieta had made earlier in the day.
Coincidentally, Dolores ended up joining Isabela.
“The poison ivy. Was that you?”
“Guilty!” Isabela sang. “Yeah, it was me. I love my gift.”
Dolores playfully rolled her eyes at her cousin. “It’s a good idea. It’ll keep him out of our way. I don’t want to see him for the time being.”
“Same.”
That’s when Luisa came running into the dining room.
“Hey, Dolores,” she called, panting. “Do you have a… shit, I don’t remember what it’s called, but a.. you know? Big brass thing?” She mimed.
Dolores blinked.
“…I have no idea what you are talking about.”
“Yeah, you do! The instrument?”
“You mean… a tuba?”
“Maybe? I don’t know! I need an instrument.”
Isabela burst into laughter, “What for? You can’t play music.”
“I’m reading to Mirabel and this bit needs music, so I need an instrument. And I also need you to teach me how to play a carol. Any one. Doesn’t matter. Actually, no. It does - needs to be in Charles Dickens times.”
“And you expect me to do this in two minutes so your sister isn’t kept waiting?” Dolores raised an eyebrow.
“I could read to her while you do it.” Isabela offered.
Now was Luisa’s turn to laugh.
“You? Reading? That’s good actually.”
“I can read!”
“It’s Charles Dickens, Isabela. You’ll find it wordy and boring.” Dolores commented.
“I’ve probably read it before,” Isabela shrugged. “At school or something. You forced me to read a lot when I was Mira’s age.”
“You’ve read A Christmas Carol?” Luisa asked in disbelief.
Isabela nodded. “Yeah, I actually know that one. Who hasn’t? You hear it every years. Fuck, Antonio knows this. Mary and Joseph had baby Jesus in a barn—”
“No. That’s the Nativity, which is a Bible story.” Dolores corrected flatly, while Luisa collapsed against her chair in laughter. “A Christmas Carol is about an old man who hates Christmas and three ghosts show him the magic of the holiday.”
“I’m gonna go ask if Papa will play the piano,” Luisa dismissed, hurrying off. Not without picking up a bowl of fruit first though.
“There was three wisemen! Not ghosts!”
“They are two different stories.”
“It’s all the same, isn’t it?”
“No, it really isn’t, Isa.”
“I swear you’re having me on.”
Camilo appeared on the doorway.
The conversation went dead.
“…Nobody came to get me for dinner,” Camilo explained, scratching the back of his hand.
“Why do you think that is?” Dolores retorted.
“I know… B-but you can’t starve me.” He said.
“I left some greenery in your room, you could eat that.” Isabela suggested, beaming innocently.
Camilo didn’t say anything. He turned imploringly to his sister.
“Please, Dolores?” He begged. Presenting his best puppy dog eyes. “I already said I was sorry and I didn’t mean for her to get hurt. You can’t make me eat… whatever poisonous plants Bela’s left in my room.”
Dolores didn’t hesitate once.
“No, go back to your room. You were told not to leave.”
He whined, but nevertheless, he did begrudgingly drag himself back upstairs. His stomach growling loudly enough that Isabela could hear it too.
Hi! Could you write ♥▼ for Rosa, ♡♦ for Miguel (besides music), ☯ for Luisa, and ☮ for Abel, please? I know it's a little much, but I love your headcanons. Take your time and thank you in advance if you decide to answer this!
Hi hi, hello!! Thank you so much for liking my headcanons! Of course I would love to answer your ask! I love Rosa and Abel almost as much as I love Miguel (to the point that they are part of the main cast for an AU I am working on), and I would be glad to talk about Mamá Luisa too! It's a long one, so I'll put it all under a Read More.
This is from this ask meme, by the way!
Let's start with Rosa: ♥ Family Headcanon ♥
This is inspired by rainydesignastronomywriter's brilliant Rosa-centric fanfics on AO3. I like to think that Rosa is a real daddy's girl and takes a lot after him. She loves her mamá to bits, of course, but she and Berto are very close. One can even say that she is her father's soul of his soul. During their dance at her quinceañera, Berto could not hold back his tears after realizing how much his darling daughter had grown up. And he cried even more at her wedding.
▼Childhood Headcanon▼
Out of all the young Riveras, Rosa was the quickest to learn how to read. She liked playing like a typical little girl, of course, but she enjoyed reading a lot too. She would ask Berto or Carmen to read to her sometimes, but there were days where she would read on her own too.
-----
Now, the boy of the hour, Miguel:
♡ Romantic Headcanon ♡
As a kid and up until him attending high school, Miguel wasn't too keen on the idea of romance for himself. He loved writing love songs, but most of the songs in that nature are about the romances around him like that of his own parents, Mamá Coco and Papá Julio after he found out about how the two of them met, Tío Berto and Tía Carmen, Abuelita and Papá Franco, that one song he wrote for Abel so that the latter could serenade his beau, a joke song for Rosa and Marco (De La Cruz's actual great-great-grandson who had been considered an honorary Rivera for the longest time), and the countless songs he wrote in honor of Mamá Imelda and Papá Héctor.
That is, until a girl a year above him caught his eye: Shaila Medina Álvarez. She was, to him, aloof in a graceful way, much like Tía Victoria but without her sarcasm. Miguel became smitten around her since the moment he heard her sing. She had a voice similar to Laufey's but not as "blue", if that makes sense. This puppy love didn't go anywhere for the longest time, until they reunited when both of them had become adults and they both realized that they were better off as friends. Shaila has since become one of Miguel's biggest supporters in his musical endeavors. Each of them ended up finding other people that they truly fell in love with, but they still keep in touch every now and again.
♦ Quirks/Hobby Headcanons ♦
Ever since the fated Día de Muertos of 2017 and all of the dirt-digging on De La Cruz, Miguel has become super duper into researching topics like cold cases, less-known historical events, et cetera. It got to the point that sometimes he'd say that if he weren't a musician, he would love to become a historian.
He's also become even more artsy after that night. He's always been pretty decent at drawing (nothing like Papá, Tía Gloria and Papá Franco yet, though), but he also picked up alebrije-making. His first ever finished one was that of Dante. Designing his figure was extremely easy... for reasons coming up next!
His main quirk, however? Being able to visit the Land Of The Dead and communicate with spirits. After Día de Muertos in 2018, things didn't go back to normal. He starts to develop odd symptoms like having a glowing petal-shaped tattoo where the flower petal touched him (inspired by "Out Of Time", a brilliant Coco X Atlantis: The Lost Empire time-travel fanfic by Panic_CelestialInk on AO3), seeing spirits and the likes in his own realm (inspired by another fanfic I read long ago titled "Afterlifes" by Storm137), and, of course, visiting Papá Héctor and the rest of the family whenever he wants.
It comes with a price, though. When he first gained this ability, he and the rest of the Riveras found out that he was to work under La Muerte from that day on. His curse made him a creature of both the Dead and the Living, and now his task is to help lost souls cross over as well as to assist in exorcisms under the patronage of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of music and the namesake of Miguel's hometown.
-----
Let's get to Mamá Luisa!
☯ Likes and Dislikes ☯
This is true canon fact, but she loves telenovelas. She never misses an episode, and would sometimes fantasize herself living as an actress. She would sometimes tell Enrique the plot of her newest telenovela obsession, and even though Enrique does not understand what she is saying he loves to listen to his wife anyway. And that is also why she loves her husband, Enrique.
She loves music too, and once dreamed of becoming a singer. Unfortunately, she cannot keep a note even if her life depends on it, but she does have a good sense of rhythm and she can dance well. This is also canon fact from one of the picture books, but I'm adding this here too. She loves Selena, Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Paulina Rubio, and Alejandra Guzman. Basically she loves the pop girlies. One of her fondest memories after the music ban was lifted (and also before, but without music) was teaching Enrique how to dance.
She also enjoys talking to Tía Carmen and Papá Franco. Before the music ban was lifted, they were the ones with whom Luisa could easily talk about everything to (besides Enrique, of course), especially regarding how much she missed music and how seeing her son's yearning for the forbidden art hurt her heart. You can imagine her relief when the music ban was finally lifted.
Luisa dislikes stubbornness, which she has learned to somewhat tolerate after living with the Riveras. She quickly learned that stubbornness runs in the family, and while she is capable of tolerating it she would still call them out if things go too far.
She also dislikes harsh punishment on children. While being somewhat strict herself, Luisa rarely raises her voice--being raised in a gentle home herself--and almost never uses La Chancla unless provoked, much like Tía Carmen. The kids love her and Tía Carmen for this.
-----
Now for Abel! I think he is VERY underrated, and deserves more love and appreciation.
☮ Friendship Headcanons ☮
Out of the youngest generation, only second to Miguel, Abel is easily the most sociable of the bunch. He has a lot of friends with whom he loves to play fútbol with, drink with, and later on sing with. His friend loves him for his kind heart and silly demeanor, but it is also fun to have a little banter with him every now and then. Abel loves his friends almost as much as he does his siblings and cousins, but there are two who know him best: Manolo Guiterrez and Ynez Ramos Castillo, Doña Castillo's granddchildren.
Manolo is two years older than Abel and is also his best friend from middle school. Besides with Mamá, Abel often talks to him whenever he is down. Ynez was Abel's classmate, also from middle school, and they were pretty close too. His friendship with Ynez later on develops into a romance after Abel successfully wooed Ynez with a song, with the help of a disgruntled Miguel.
And these are what Shaila, Manolo, and Ynez look like!
The Jorge Situation
Chapter Preview: “But we’re magic! And so is our house,” Octavia argued, “A pool's just a hole with water in it. How hard can it be?”
“Um,” Mirabel said, but before she could come up with a reason why they shouldn’t do this, Camilo cut her off.
“You know what, I say we follow the six year old,” he said, “she has a point.”
First Prev Next Masterlist
“Please Luisa,” they all chorused together, hands clasped under their chins.
Luisa frowned down at them, eyes soft, “I-I’m sorry, I really can’t, I have chores.”
“You always have chores,” Amada pointed out, putting her hands on her hips.
“And it’s so hot out,” Mirabel said, “don’t you usually take the day off when it’s this hot?”
“Come on, doesn’t a jump in the pool sound nice,” Camilo cajoled.
“Pool party, pool party, pool party,” tiny little Octavia chanted, marching back and forth and pumping her fists in the air.
“Maybe tomorrow,” Luisa hedged, inching away from the small army of puppy dog eyes.
“That’s what you said yesterday,” Camilo groaned.
“Does that guy really need you to round up his donkeys every day,” Amada groused.
“But we haven’t gotten to play with you in forever,” Mirabel grumped, crossing her arms and pouting.
Octavia continued to chant “Pool party!” as she now circled around Luisa.
“Aw geez, I know, I’m sorry, really I am,” Luisa said, even as she plucked Octavia up and moved her out of the way. As soon as Octavia was back on the ground, Luisa was off, speed walking out of the house.
“But it’s so hot!” Camilo shouted after her.
She didn’t respond.
“Darn,” Amada sighed.
“Now what?” Octavia asked, finally cutting the chant off.
“Let’s ask one of the adults if Gabe can take us to the river,” Mirabel suggested, already turning towards Tío Bruno’s door.
“Can’t,” Amada shook her head, “they’re all out.”
“What? All of them?” Camilo wrinkled his brow, “Even Tío Bruno?”
Amada nodded, “You know how your mom has that doctor appointment today? She might get bad news, so my Pá and Tío Agustín are setting up a gift basket to cheer her up.”
“Bad news?” Camilo asked.
“Yeah, she’s older than most women are when they get pregnant,” Amada shrugged.
There was a pause.
“Tía Pepa is pregnant?!” Octavia all but shouted.
“My Má isn’t pregnant,” Camilo said, at the same time.
“Oh, we should do something nice too!” Mirabel decided, turning towards Gabriel’s room instead.
“She is, I saw it,” Amada argued, “that’s why there’s a new door.”
“What? No it isn’t,” Camilo turned to gape at the new door, then much like Octavia had, shouted, “My Má is pregnant?”
“Sí,” Amada nodded once, joining Mirabel outside of Gabriel’s door.
“Ay, mios dios,” Camilo put a hand over his mouth, “I’m going to have a baby sister?”
“Or brother,” Mirabel said, knocking on Gabriel’s door.
Camilo scoffed, “Please, in this family? Pretty sure I’m cursed to forever be surrounded by girls.”
“What’s wrong with that?” Octavia asked.
Camilo shrugged, “Don’t know, but my Pá’s friends are always saying they feel sorry for me.”
“Your Pá doesn’t even like those guys, the ones from the masonry, right?” Amada said, “He’s always one bad joke away from smacking one of them.”
“Really? Then why does he talk to them?”
“Why does who talk to who?” Gabriel asked, opening his door.
“Why does Tío Felíx talk to the guys who work for the mason?” Octavia asked.
“Oh, because it makes negotiating with the mason whenever the mill needs a new stone easier and he lost the coin toss between him and Tío Felípe,” Gabriel answered, “is that what you guys wanted?”
“We want to do something nice for Tía Pepa, in case she gets bad news about the baby,” Mirabel said.
Gabriel blinked at her for a few beats, then looked at Amada, “Pretty sure Tía Pepa didn’t want any of you kids knowing yet.”
“Oh,” Amada said, “oops.”
“Amada wants to do something nice for my Má to apologize for blabbing her secret to everybody,” Camilo amended Mirabel’s previous statement.
Gabriel snorted, and left his room fully, “What’d you have in mind?”
“Oh, um,” Mirabel looked around at her cousins, hoping one of them would have an idea, she received a bunch of blank looks, “what do you think would cheer her up?”
“Well, she’s been complaining about the heat,” Gabriel said, then he started walking towards Abuela’s room, “I’ll ask Abuela if we can go to the market, maybe we can make her ice cream or something.”
“Abuela’s not here,” Amada said, “she’s with Má, mediating negotiations between Tío Al and that one jerk head.”
Tío Al was the new goat herder, who had taken over from their Má’s father. He had been herding the goats for years with no problems, but now that their abuelo was taking a step back and fully retiring, one of the farmers had started trying to push Al around. Their Má had slipped up a few times and referred to the farmer in question as something much worse than a jerk head.
“Oh,” Gabriel stopped, he was old enough to leave the house by himself, and old enough to take the younger kids out, but not old enough to take the younger kids out without telling an adult where they were going.
“Maybe Isabela can take us,” Camilo suggested. Isabela and Dolores were old enough that they could take the younger kids out without asking permission, just so long as they also took one of the other older kids with them to help out.
“She’s out too,” Amada shook her head, “she’s helping the Cortez family plan the decorations for that party they’re throwing next week.”
“Dolores?” Octavia asked.
“I think she’s home,” Amada said.
“Yeah, but she’s in her Sanctum of Silence,” Camilo said, “she wasn’t feeling well earlier.”
“Well, there has to be something we can do here at home to cheer Tía Pepa up,” Mirabel refused to be deterred.
As one, they all turned to look up at Gabriel. As a wise and worldly twelve year old, they figured he would have some insight.
“Oh, uh, we could um, make her something else?” he suggested, nervously sweeping his curls back from his face.
“Like what?” Camilo asked.
Octavia gasped, then whispered, “Pool party!”
“What?”
“Pool party,” she cried, throwing her hands in the air, “she’s been hot and might be sad, let’s throw a pool party! With dancing, she loves dancing.”
“Má does love dancing,” Camilo agreed.
“Great, let’s ask Luisa-,” Gabriel started to say.
“She’s already out doing chores,” Mirabel said.
“Oh, so no pool then,” Gabriel deflated, “not much of a pool party.”
“No, no, guys, guys, guys,” Octavia hopped up and down, “we can make one!”
“A pool?” Amada asked.
“Sí!”
“We only have a couple hours before she gets back,” Gabriel pointed out.
“But we’re magic! And so is our house,” Octavia argued, “It’s just a hole with water in it. How hard can it be?”
“Um,” Mirabel said, but before she could come up with a reason why they shouldn’t do this, Camilo cut her off.
“You know what, I say we follow the six year old,” he said, “she has a point.”
“Yeah, let’s follow the six year old,” Octavia cheered, already running towards the stairs.
“Hold on, hold on, hold on,” Gabriel followed after her, “where would we get the water?”
“Well,” Mirabel started to say, then grimaced, knowing before the sentence was fully out of her mouth that what she was about to suggest was a bad idea, “you uh, you could use your gift to transport all the water we’d need.”
Gabriel frowned, “My gift-?”
“Sí, if you uh, if you just make a shield underwater, then bring it back to the pool and pop it, then ta-da, water,” Mirabel explained, wiping her palms on her skirt.
Gabriel made a quiet, thoughtful noise, then turned to Amada, “How likely is this to end well?”
Amada blinked and her eyes turned gold, she looked around the room and got this weird sort of smile on her face, “We should do it.”
“Really?” Gabriel asked, face crinkling with doubt.
“Yeah, absolutely.”
“Are you sure?”
“Nothing will make Tía Pepa happier,” Amada said, Gabriel examined her for a long time, then slowly nodded.
“Alright, if you’re absolutely positive?”
“Completely.”
“Hm, well, then guess I’ll just head down to the nearest body of water,” he said, “where will I be bringing this water to? Front yard or back?”
“Actually, I was thinking-,” Octavia started to say.
“Front will be better,” Amada cut her off.
“Bien, front it is,” he slowly backed up, watching Amada, surely hoping she would announce she was just kidding or something. When she didn’t, he reluctantly turned and left the house.
As soon as he was gone, Amada turned to Octavia, “Don’t worry, we’re going with your idea.”
“Whoo!” Octavia cheered.
“What’s her idea?” Mirabel asked slowly, anything Amada felt she needed to hide from Gabriel was bound to be bad.
“Casita will be the pool,” Octavia answered, “because Casita is probably hot too, right Casita?”
There was a slightly uncertain clatter of tiles, then a sheepish wobble of the light fixtures.
“Really?” Mirabel asked, “You get hot?”
Casita made a wavey gesture with the floorboards that Mirabel knew to mean, “Kinda, not like you, but I definitely wouldn’t mind being a pool for a little.”
“Huh, alright, Casita wants to be a pool,” Mirabel took a minute to let that sink in, then frowned at her assembled cousins, “so uh, how do we make Casita a pool?”
“We need to block off some of the doors so the water doesn’t get out,” Camilo said.
“I’ll grab some rocks,” Octavia shouted, running out to the backyard.
Mirabel followed after her, “Wait, shouldn’t we think about this a little more before-.”
“Hah!” Camilo suddenly laughed behind her, Mirabel whipped around and saw him standing next to Amada, one hand slapped over his mouth. The pair stared back at her, trying to look innocent.
“We should get the furniture out of the courtyard,” Amada said.
Mirabel narrowed her eyes at them, now positive Amada was up to something. She crossed her arms, setting her chin.
“Mirabel, I promise, if this goes exactly right, it’ll make Tía Pepa really, really happy,” Amada put her hands up, “trust me?”
Mirabel searched her face, but only saw sincerity, so she sighed, “Bien, let’s move the furniture.”
Casita helped them by moving the bigger furniture so they mostly just moved the paintings on the first story out of the way. Mirabel was very careful to prop them all up on the chairs in the dining room so that their placement roughly matched where they had been in the courtyard. She figured that’d make it easier to put everything back in the long run. Meanwhile, Amada and Camilo moved a few things upstairs where they’d be dry but still accessible, like the record player and a hammock.
Shortly after, Octavia came back with some boulders which she molded to fit the doorways.
“Casita,” Mirabel said slowly, “can you make the floor um lower?”
Casita shivered proudly, and Mirabel could almost hear a voice saying, “No, but watch this.”
Instead of sinking the floor, Casita grew three feet and left the courtyard on the ground. The tiles around the edge of the courtyard folded themselves into steps up to the newly created half floor. Octavia and Camilo cheered, while Amada laughed in amazement.
“That’s so clever,” Amada said, and Casita briefly lit all the lights in the house, literally glowing from the praise.
“Gracias Casita,” Mirabel said, trotting up to the nearest wall to place her hand on it.
Casita merrily clattered some tiles at her.
“Let’s get our bathing suits on,” Camilo said, already jogging towards the stairs.
“Wait! We need food for the party,” Mirabel pointed out.
“Oh, good point,” he switched directions and followed Mirabel into the kitchen.
“Hm, what can we make,” Mirabel mused, putting her hands on her hips. Being nine years old, she wasn’t allowed to use knives or the oven without adult supervision, which ruled out a lot of stuff in the kitchen.
“Ummm,” Camilo, also being nine and therefore forbidden from using knives and ovens, drummed his fingers on his legs, “fruit basket?”
Mirabel slowly nodded, she walked over to the shelves by the pantry and grabbed a basket, “What fruit do we have?”
Camilo was already digging through the pantry, he popped his head out and said, “Mostly mangoes and avocado.”
She wrinkled her nose, “Avocado isn’t a fruit.”
“Yes it is.”
“No it isn’t.”
“Is to.”
“Is not.”
“If it’s not a fruit, what is it? A vegetable?”
Mirabel scowled, but didn’t answer, because it wasn’t a vegetable either. She was pretty sure, at least.
“See! See! Avocado’s a fruit. I’m putting it in the fruit basket,” he stepped out of the pantry with his arms full of avocados and dumped them into the basket.
“Nobody eats just avocados,” Mirabel argued, “you’re supposed to put them on stuff!”
“Like what? We’re not allowed to cook.”
Once again, Mirabel didn’t have a good response, so she just said, “This fruit basket is going to be dumb.”
“You’re going to be dumb,” Camilo said, dumping an armful of mangoes into the basket next.
“That doesn’t make any sense,” she adjusted her grip on the basket, which was already getting kind of heavy.
“You don’t make any sense,” he retorted.
Mirabel rolled her eyes, and started to call him stupid, when he stepped out of the pantry with a couple ears of unhusked corn, “Corn’s a vegetable! And you have to take the leaves off of it first!”
“It’s the only plant we have left,” Camilo argued, throwing the corn into the basket.
“What?! Nuh uh,” she shoved the basket into his hands and looked in the pantry, “we have raisins!”
“Raisins aren’t a plant!”
“Yes they are, they’re grapes,” Mirabel pulled the bag of raisins out and placed it in the basket.
“What? Really?” Camilo set the basket down so he could look in the bag.
“Yeah, they’re dried up grapes.”
“Oh,” he frowned at them, “but my Tío Felípe told me they were bugs.”
“Ew! Gross! If you thought they were bugs, why’d you like them so much?!”
“We eat bugs all the time,” Camilo reasoned, “like beans.”
“Camilo, beans aren’t bugs either,” Mirabel said, “did Tío Felípe say they were?”
“Is anything bugs?!”
“Not that we eat,” Mirabel shook her head.
“What about honey?”
“Bugs make it, but they aren’t like, in the honey, you know?”
Camilo looked back down at the raisins, and sighed woefully, “I’m never eating beans again.”
“Because it’s not bugs?”
“Sí.”
Mirabel opened her mouth to ask about raisins and honey, but was cut off when Amada called for them. She helped Camilo lug the “fruit” basket into the courtyard turned empty pool and was struck by how much brighter it was. She looked at the front door and saw a big ball of light that was full of water. Or rather, she saw a part of the big ball of light, it was large enough that Mirabel couldn’t see the full thing through the doorway.
Amada’s eyes flashed gold, then she grinned, “We’re on the right track.”
Camilo snickered, Mirabel looked between the two of them. They were both way too happy about something.
“Guys?” Gabriel’s voice called out, sounding a bit ragged, “Where’s the pool?”
“It’s in here,” Camilo called.
There was a pause, the light making up the ball warbled and thinned. Mirabel gulped and took a step back towards the kitchen, but Octavia had already begun plugging up the doorway. Thankfully, Gabriel must have noticed the light thinning, because he added more to his shield. The ball rolled away from the door a little, so Gabriel could step into the doorway, sweating through his shirt and looking exhausted.
“What do you mean it’s in here,” he gasped, looking around the transformed courtyard, “no, no, no, no. You said we would put it out front!”
“Nuh-uh, I said the front yard would be best,” Amada shook her head, “but this will make Tía Pepa happier!”
Gabriel gaped at her, the light thinning again. Mirabel took another nervous step back and pointed at it, by the time she’d got out a single “UM!” Gabriel had turned and noticed the thinning light. With a tired puff of air, he once more returned his focus to the ball of water.
When the light shaping the ball was nice and thick, he turned halfway back towards them, keeping one eye on the shield, “How exactly does this make Tía Pepa happier?!”
“You’ll see, just trust me!”
“I- you-. Nope! I’m putting the water back,” he said, turning to put both hands on the ball. He braced to start rolling it back the way he came, only to hear something that made all of them freeze.
“Gabriel?” Tío Bruno’s voice wound its way around the ball and into the courtyard, “What uh, what’s this?”
He slowly walked around the ball, holding a box of chocolates in one hand and a bottle of orange colored juice in the other, studying it with a raised eyebrow. When he reached Gabriel he gave him a quizzical look, glanced into Casita, then did a double take.
Octavia, who had just finished plugging up the doorway to the kitchen, happily trotted up to him, “Papa! Papa! We’re throwing a pool party for Tía Pepa!”
For a second, it didn’t look like Tío Bruno understood what Octavia had just said to him, as if she had spoken Russian or Ancient Greek. Then, he looked around the courtyard with a look of slowly dawning horror, his head whipped over to the giant ball of water, then to the blocked up doors. Mouth opening and closing uselessly, he started slowly shaking his head.
“It’s uh, it’s my fault Pá,” Gabriel tried to say.
Tío Bruno barked out an almost hysterical laugh, “Yeah, right!”
Everybody startled at the volume, and Tío Bruno rattled out a few quick sorries, before pinching the bridge of his nose. He took some deep breaths.
Finally, he splayed out his hands and said, “Ok, this is ok, I’m the only one who saw this, so this is fine. We’ll just clean all this up before-.”
“Gabriel? What’s this for?” Agustín interrupted Tío Bruno, also walking around the ball and examining it with a raised eyebrow.
Tío Bruno paused, then said, “Nope, still fine, it’s just Agustín. This is still fine.”
“Actually,” Agustín said slowly, eyes roving the courtyard with growing alarm, “the others are right behind me. Juli and Félix are trying to slow Pepa down so we have enough time to set up her surprise. Uh, what’s-?”
“It’s for Tía Pepa,” Octavia said, now sounding just a little defensive, “we want to make her happy, too!”
“Oh, that’s so sweet,” Agustín said, then cast another confused look around.
“It’s a pool party,” Tío Bruno supplied, deadpan.
Agustín’s face dropped and he paled considerably, after a beat he turned to Tío Bruno and in a hushed voice said, “We need to act fast.”
“Right,” Tío Bruno turned to Gabriel, “let’s get this water back where you found it.”
“I’ll help the kids with all this,” Agustín volunteered.
They nodded at each other, Bruno put his hands on the ball, and started to help Gabriel roll it out of the way, only for it to get stuck on something.
“Whoa! Watch out,” Tío Félix called out.
“Fantastic,” Tío Bruno muttered, resting his forehead on the ball of light.
Now, Julieta, Félix and Pepa appeared, also examining the giant ball of water and light. Since there was three of them, they were able to exchange confused glances, before turning to Agustín and Bruno for an explanation.
Before anyone could provide one, however, Camilo sped walked up to Tía Pepa, lugging the fruit basket, “Mamí! We made you a fruit basket!”
“Oh! Camilo mijo, that’s so- um,” Tía Pepa took the basket and looked inside of it, her smile seemed just a bit strained to Mirabel’s eyes as she said, “thank you corazon! This is lovely.”
“De nada,” he said, hugging her.
“Tía Pepa! Go back outside, the rest of the surprise isn’t ready yet,” Octavia said.
“Surprise?”
“Octavia, we’re not doing it,” Gabriel said gently.
“Why not?! We’re almost done,” Octavia protested.
“What’s uh, what’s the surprise?” Tío Félix asked.
“We were going to throw Mamí a pool party to cheer her up if the doctor made her sad,” Camilo explained, “but now Gabriel’s being boring.”
“You were what?!”
“I’m not being boring!”
“You did all this for me?”
“Why not just use Luisa’s pool?”
“We need to get this all cleaned up before Má gets home.”
“Too late,” Abuela called out over the riot of voices, and everybody froze, as her and Tía Leandra rounded the ball of water, she started to ask, “What in the world-?”
“Perfect,” Amada whispered, as the sunlight began to coalesce around her.
“Abuela,” Gabriel gasped, sounding horrified.
“Mijo, the wa-,” Tío Bruno tried to say.
But it was too late, the second Gabriel laid his eyes on Abuela he encased all of the women and other children in balls of light. In doing so, he pulled the light not just from the sun above, but the giant ball of water under his hands.
It burst.
Four male voices cried out in dismay as a wave of river water fell onto them, soaking the front yard, Casita’s entryway, and the four people who hadn’t received light shields. A few fish flopped around on the ground, and one managed to maintain impressive balance flopping on Tío Félix’s head. Another wiggled vigorously where it was trapped in Agustín’s breast pocket.
Tía Pepa made a choked sound, slapping a hand over her mouth.
“Whoops,” Gabriel said, the shields all flickering out as water dripped off of him. There was a dead, water logged leaf in his hair.
Tía Pepa’s shoulders started to shake.
“What is going on?” Abuela asked, looking too bewildered to be truly angry.
A few squeaks squeezed their way out from between Tía Pepa’s fingers.
“The kids wanted to do something nice for Pepa,” Tío Bruno sighed, parting his wet hair so everybody could see the extremely tired look on his face.
Just like the ball of light, Tía Pepa burst. Despite her best efforts, laughter roared out of her, staining the early afternoon sky with two brilliant rainbows.
“It worked,” Amada cried, throwing her hands up into the air and hopping up and down a little, splashing in the puddle that was spreading into Casita.
“Love you Mamí,” Camilo said through his own laughter, hugging her tighter.
“You knew this was going to happen?” Mirabel asked, “The whole time?!”
“I knew it might happen,” Amada corrected, “and look, look! See how happy Tía Pepa is!”
Indeed, Tía Pepa was still giggling, trying to wipe tears from her eyes. Every time she opened them and looked at one of the men, another peal of laughter burst out of her. And she wasn’t the only one, Julieta and Tía Leandra were also hiding smiles and laughter behind their hands. They both made a passable effort to look sympathetic to their husbands, but neither quite succeeded.
“I want you to know,” Tío Bruno said to Tía Leandra, “I blame you for this.”
“Me? I just got here.”
“Exactly. You weren’t here, and I was dry, then you get here and poof, within seconds I’m completely soaked.”
Tía Leandra opened her mouth to respond, noticed Mirabel paying attention to her, then leaned in and whispered something to Tío Bruno.
Tío Bruno turned very red and muttered, “Lucky Dolores is spending the day in her sanctum.”
Meanwhile, Julieta carefully pulled the fish out of Agustín’s pocket, then held it for a second. After a little bit of deliberation, she put it back in his pocket.
“It seems wrong to just throw a living creature on the ground,” she told him, when he raised an eyebrow at her.
“So, the plan is for it to live in my favorite vest?”
“Well, the silver scales do go really well with that shade of blue.”
Agustín looked down, “Huh, so it does.”
Mirabel looked over at Abuela, to see her reaction, but couldn’t decipher the look on her face. Abuela kept looking around the courtyard, her mouth starting to tug into a frown, then she’d look at Agustín, Bruno, or Félix and start to smile, then her eyes would land at Gabriel and she would look almost sympathetic, before looking back at the courtyard and starting the cycle over again. Eventually, she just sighed, chuckled, and nodded.
“Well, they’ve certainly succeeded in cheering Pepa,” she said, “hopefully, you children will be equally successful cleaning all this up.”
“Of course Abuela, we’ll get right-,” Gabriel started to say.
“Not you,” Abuela held up a hand, “at least, not until you dry off first. You’ll just track more water all over the house.”
Gabriel grimaced, and nodded. Tío Bruno patted him on the back.
“Casita,” Abuela called out, and the house stayed very, very still, “care to explain why you allowed this to happen?”
Casita didn’t respond at first, then sheepishly rattled some of the roof tiles.
“You were hot? Casita, you’re a house,” Abuela said, “do you get hot?”
Casita rattled out a confirmation, and at first Abuela didn’t respond, she just gaped up at the house for a few beats. Mirabel thought she may have heard Abuela mutter something along the lines of “Just when I think I’m used to all this magic” but wasn’t sure. Abuela shook her surprise off and promised Casita they would talk about ways to cool the house down that didn’t involve allowing a bunch of kids to flood the first floor.
“Mirabel,” Abuela said next.
“Sí Abuela?” Mirabel asked, trying not to shrink in on herself too obviously.
“Did you help with all this?”
“It uh it was sort of my idea,” she answered.
“Really?” Abuela asked shocked.
“Mirabel was the one who thought we should do something nice for Tía Pepa,” Gabriel said, “the rest is my fault.”
Abuela didn’t look anymore convinced than Tío Bruno had about that last part, but she didn’t respond to it, “Sí, well, as always, it is good of you to want to help your familia. How about you help the men get themselves dried off? Meet them out back with some towels.”
“Sí Abuela,” she said, she started to head towards the stairs, but stopped when she realized she was about to track watery footsteps onto the dry part of the house. She carefully stopped at the edge of the puddle, then stepped out of her shoes. Picking them up, she quickly made her way up the stairs to grab some towels.
“As for the rest of you, I believe you know where the mops are,” Abuela said.
“Can’t we help the men too?” Octavia asked.
“Mija, you are the only one who can move the rocks,” Tía Leandra pointed out gently.
“Aaaaw,” Octavia said, but at her mother’s urging, began doing just that, grumbling all the while.
Bruno sighed, staring longingly at his nice, warm bed. Leandra, who was busy tucking her curls into her silk hair wrap, noticed him doing so in the mirror. She turned to give him a sympathetic smile.
“You don’t have to do it tonight,” she pointed out, “you can check tomorrow.”
“They’ve been changing so quickly, I-I want to see if they’re affected by what happened today,” he said, “like how they got bigger on Isabela’s birthday, but smaller on Camilo’s.”
“Hm,” she tucked the last curl in, then stood and walked over to him, “maybe we should start writing some of this stuff down.”
He nodded, sighing, “Maybe.”
She squeezed him around the middle, “Do you want me to come keep you company?”
“No, well actually yes, of course I do, but no,” he gave her a rueful smile, “one of us should have enough energy to actually be a parent in the morning.”
“Ah, fair point,” she kissed his cheek, then let him go, “I suppose it’s too late for us to switch?”
“Hah, sí,” he grabbed his bucket and started making his way towards the tent’s exit, “much too late, but you have fun explaining to Octavia why she has to follow you whenever you do errands from now on.”
“Meircoles,” she muttered, getting in the bed.
Suddenly feeling much better about having to work on the cracks instead of sleeping, Bruno wished her a good night, then left her to rest up for a long day of dragging a bored six year old around the market. He hummed quietly to himself as he made his way through his room, then cut the humming short the second his door was open. Checking first to make sure the coast was clear, he tiptoed out of his room and gently closed the door behind him.
Silently, he made the short journey to the painting that hid the secret passage down to the cracks. Then, quietly, he made the long journey down to said cracks.
There were fewer of them today than there were yesterday. He wasn’t sure how to take that.
Was it because Casita spent the day before silently suffering in the heat? Where as today the house received a nice cooling shower of a pond’s worth of water?
Or maybe it was because yesterday Pepa was worried about her new baby, but today she was reassured the baby would be fine, and that her family was there for her?
Or maybe it was just because. Maybe there was no rhyme or reason. Maybe the miracle was just wearing off and he was watching it struggle to keep going.
Leandra was right, he needed to start writing his observations down.
For the time being, he set his bucket down and got started on mixing the spackle. He had been getting better lately, when he was done, he had a bucket full of spackle that was almost the right consistency. He focused on a crack that hadn’t closed by itself for a few weeks now, ignoring the newer cracks since they might sort themselves out if he let them. With practiced almost ease, he got to work patching the cracks.
Here is the second and final part of werewolf Alma and Mirabel Au. Hope I'm not bothering you.
________________________________
They couldn't believe they lost their home, the miracle was gone, all of their items and objects were in Casita ruins, no one didn't say a word, no one notice Mirabel weren't with them except for Antonio, Felix, Agustin, Luisa and Bruno they knew Mirabel was in her wolf form sitting in Alma arms.
the Guzman family came to see if the Madrigal family were alright, what they didn't expect when Alma set the wolf down the form began to transform into Mirabel, the family and a few people gasp at the sight but what made the took pity on the girl was her angry tears and her rubbing her red cheek.
First then she did was slap Pepa making her stumble back and Felix ran to Mirabel side and hugged the girl tight, apologizing for his wife and children sake but his poor niece bust in tears when she said her cheeks hurts, Alma slap Julieta before doing the same to Isabela, Camilo and Dolores then went back to her middle daughter and slap her twice as hard, to her it's been a long time since she had smack her kids and grandchildren.
"How could you mama, how could you slap me you old hag."
"No how could you hit a child, look at what you did, Alma pointed to Mirabel who had stopped crying was now glaring at Pepa. "You slapped her for no reason look at her cheek." She shouted at her daughter.
there were more people coming to see what the commotion about, Mirabel was being held by her dad, Antonio, Luisa were watching as more people came, in the meanwhile Bruno was smirking as his mom yelled at his sister, he waited so long for someone to put Pepa in her place.
"And yet you wonder why Antonio avoids you, it's because he sees what type of mother you are, he sees how you along with the others treat his cousin, your niece which made his avoid the others as well. You always lash out on the poor girl whenever she is around, you lash out on her past few weeks for hanging out on Felix, blame her for taking Felix away from you, you acted out like he cheated on you and for the sake give him a break, he isn't a toy,you lash out on him when he went against you, he doesn't deserves to be with some one like you and I don't know how he keep up with you. Today has gone too far, you had an argument with Felix when you caught him and Mirabel in the kitchen baking, you freaking slapped Mirabel until she transformed into a wolf." Alma yelled at her leaving her middle daughter in tears after giving her another slap.
Alma signs as she stopped in front Isabela and Dolores, she wouldn't slap them but they were grown and old enough to make her own choices, she sees Mariano standing behind Isabela as her eldest granddaughter gave her the look of please don't expose me face while Dolores had tears steaming down her face.
"Isabela, Dolores I'm disappointed in you both, you think I didn't know any words, door slamming, making her fall, trying or harm her in any way or that day Antonio came to and told me that Mirabel was lock up in your closet and Dolores you were with her so stop that crying. She scolds her granddaughters, Mariano walked away from Isabela after hearing what she had done.
"You both did so many bad things and didn't think I noticed it, I can't look at you both any longer. "Camilo, my grandson, Alma called making him flinch. "Why do you let your friends throw things at her, why do you hate her, you used to be close to her, what happened to that closeness.
"You know boys aren't supposed to put their hands on girls, even kicked small animals." Camilo stared at his grandma in fear which she tsk at him and shook her head. "You and your friends gave her a stomach ache, I'm sure you remember seeing a puppy roam around Casita or sometimes near the forest If I believe so, yep you kicked your cousin along with your friends." Camilo couldn't hide his guilt, he had a breakdown apologizing like crazy.
Alma stood in front to Julieta, her oldest disappointing her big time. "There are a thousand ways you are a disappointment to me my child, I don't have anything to say to you and I believe you know the answer." Her oldest daughter nodded her head.
As the lady stands in front Julieta, Pepa, Isabela, Dolores and Camilo and the others, she gave them the angriest look that made their and the other hairs stand up, they never seen her that mad except for her children, they seen her mad but this one. As Alma looks around at the crowd as they were pointing and whispering she begin to speak.
"I know you all have questions and I'm gonna answer it, The first thing is that Mirabel is a werewolf and so am I." The crowds started to whisper, her family that didn't know gasp, they couldn't believe it now they feeling more guilty.
"That little puppy everyone sees roaming around, maybe Luisa, Agustin or Antonio carried around was Mirabel all this time because there is no wolf that tame like we are but we don't mean no harm. As for the jealous family members." Alma said as she turned back to them.
"I never had favorites, I love every single of you equally and the reason why I gave Mirabel so much attention because she is a werewolf and they need help since they don't know how to control it and will be in pain whenever they started transforming and it's painful to see a child go through this. We were gonna tell you guys but ya'll jealousy got the best of you, all I can say is that I complete lost faith and trust in you guys, I know Mirabel won't trust any of you people anytime and I don't blame her because I ain't gonna forgive those who did her wrong, harm her and tried to blame her so we aren't gonna forget this."
"What will we do about Casita." Antonio ask.
"After we finish rebuilding our home everyone is set to have their own house, If the miracle did come back everyone is still set to have their own house because It's time for everyone to leave this house and get their own place... oh I forgot to say this but this house will belong to Mirabel when I pass." With that Alma started to walk away to talk to Camlio friends parents, speaking of the punishment of those who did her Mirabel wrong and talking about rebuilding of Casita with the townfolk.
Felix was now talking to Camilo and Dolores as they watched Antonio and the puppy running around, Julieta was with Agustin, Luisa and Iasbela, Bruno was with Alma while Pepa was on her way to her husband and kids.
"Pepa I will be spending the night at my parents house for a couple of days after, I just need some time off to rethink our marriage life because this relationship... I don't know how to explain it but I just need some time off, Antonio can come over as well as the others that was nice to Mirabel until I say so, I already told them this and they fine with it then said I deserve to be alone, now if you excuse me, I finna see the blueprint and what part the want me to take." Felix told his wife before she could say anything else.
All Pepa and Julieta could do is to watch their husbands as the walked over to the people, Pepa broke down but Julieta couldn't say anything since she was at fault for this. For one thing they felt was regret, guilt and felt dumb for letting jealousy taking over.
I had this since yesterday and didn't post because of distraction, but anyways sorry if this is too long and sorry if I'm bothering you.
D
DAMNNNNNNN ☠️☠️
Not gonna lie, its nice to see them standing up to the other family's behavior. I'm glad they didn't just let it slide, letting them give a half asses apology and a slap on the wrist. Its not okay to that kind of stuff, especially to faniky, no matter how jelous you may be. Get a straw and suck it up <33 I don't think they'd divorce or anything, but Agustin and Felix are definitely gonna have a very long talk and possible week or two away from Julieta and Pepa. And Pepa had no right to hit Mirabel wtf ☠️☠️ shiii all of them deserve to be booted, their behavior has no excuse. There's thing called communication. I think they should practice it 👹👹
Anyway, I never think snippets are bothersome, they're so fun to read 😩😩 speaking of, with all this angst lately, I might do some fluffy Mario or Housebroken tings <333
Encanto Christmas headcanons!
Hey everyone! Wow, what a year, huh? Yes, even the obvious bots that just follow for the sake of it, this is for you too! Okay, first up, I want to wish y'all a merry crisis, whatever you're doing or not doing this time of year! This year, I am in my parent's caravan celebrating with them and going to the races tomorrow which should be fun.
And seeing how it's the season of giving, I am giving you more Encanto Christmas headcanons! Last year's still remain, especially with Camilo and the church (there's a reason the priest loses his hair and it ain't Bruno!) but I wanted to write and share some more and write and share some more, I shall! Now, you may notice a name that is definitely known amongst the Encanto tumblr fandom, that being the lovely Elena who is owned by @prophetic-hijinks and has been my hyperfixation for the past week. Elena is the wife of Bruno and easily one of my favourite ocs. Having worked as a singer in a bar for years, she's heard it all and can throw back just as much as she's given, but she has such a soft and gentle side from her childhood and it is her dream to become a mama. She's a total firecracker in the best way and compliments Bruno beautifully.
So, I wish you all a pleasant holidays, be merry and bright and please be careful!
Lots of love,
Charlotte x
Alma announces that the town is to have a special visitor for Christmas. Mariano deadass asks if it's Santa as 'special visitor' and 'Christmas'. It's Father Francisco from a neighbouring church. This is based on something that happened last week to my twin sister. It was announced at her work that there'll be an important visitor and as its Christmas, she thought 'oh, Santa!'...it was safeguarding.
It is on Christmas day that Pepa finds out she's pregnant with Dolores and Julieta announces she's expecting Isabela. Congratulations all around the table but the ladies later have a laugh at the coincidence.
Dolores is desperate for a baby brother or sister. To the point that when she is three, that's all she has on her list and steals the baby Jesus at the nativity that year and refuses to give him back. Neither Pepa nor Félix imagined they'd have to put 'negotiating with a three year old over a baby that's not even theirs' on their parenting resume, yet here they were.
When Camilo is five and his first Christmas with his gift, he turns into Santa and convinces the kids of the Encanto to give him their presents. If it wasn't for Alma and Pepa interfering, then the likelihood of Camilo being the leader of a tiny cult of kids was rather high.
Julieta and Agustín find out the hard way that Agustín is allergic to mistletoe.
Speaking of mistletoe, Elena gets some from Isabela and with help from Casita, she hangs it on the doorway of Bruno's room. It takes him a few minutes for him to notice and then a few more to comprehend the meaning.
Elena pursed her lips up to the plant with the pearlescent berries that was hanging delicately above the doorway. She gazed at Bruno through hooded eyes, hoping he'd get the hint. "Huh, mistletoe." "Mmhmm." He frowned for a moment. "Um, pretty?" Elena mentally facepalmed. He is so lucky he's cute.
Favourite Christmas songs
Bruno - Santa, Baby *clutches his vinyl record of Elena's version tightly* "It's a nice song, is all," he squeaks, trying desperately hide his boner with his ruana.
Elena - Santa, Baby "I may have a few tricks up my sleeve for mi pájaro carpintero," she purrs with a wink when asked. Cue Bruno with a nosebleed not too dissimilar to anime.
Mirabel - Step Into Christmas - "How can anyone hate this song? STEP INTO CHRISTMAS, LET'S JOIN TOGETHER, WE CAN WATCH THE SNOW FALL FOREVER AND EVER!"
Luisa - Lonely Pup in a Christmas Shop *in between sobs* "The...the puppy! It needs a home!" Augustín proceeds to comfort her and reassure her that the puppy is fine and it does find a loving home at the last minute.
Isabela - Grandma Got Runover By a Reindeer "Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?"
Alma - Do They Know It's Christmas time? "It's about helping others with what we are blessed with!"
Julieta - Christmas Wrapping "MOOD."
Agustín - Mary's Boy Child Hums to it whilst prepping dinner, with Casita making sure he doesn't injure himself. Casita swears that that man will be the death of it one day.
Pepa - Christmas time (Don't let the bells end) "It helps release my emotions!" she shouts over the music as it blasts out of the speaker. Dolores tends to avoid these times.
Félix - Feliz Navidad "I wanna wish you a merry Christmas from the bottom of my heeeeeeeeart!!!!"
Dolores - All I want for Christmas "All I want for Christmas is mi amor. And some earmuffs. Oop!"
Mariano - Last Christmas "It's the perfect love story! Drama, betrayal, heart, its beautiful! Just like Dolores." Blows a kiss to Dolores and she giggles. Camilo and Antonio gag at this.
Camilo - Fairytale of New York "Where else would I be able to call someone a gusano?"
Antonio - Hippopotamus for Christmas "I love any song with animals!"
Dog Breed Matchup: Encanto
In which I match each Madrigal, personality-wise, to a dog breed.
Most of these were hard, and I’m not entirely convinced on Antonio, Dolores, or Bruno. I mostly stuck with AKC register, as that’s what I’m used to.
*
Abuela: Anatolian shepherd. Not the flashiest breed, but they don’t need to be to command respect and dignity. Anatolian shepherds are serious dogs developed for guarding livestock. They are independent, watchful, and capable of guarding their herd through brutal temperatures. They should not be aggressive but are not a dog you’d choose to romp or play with, and are not recommended for novices. They are descended from one of the most ancient lineages of dogs, and they bring all that implies with them.
Julieta: English shepherd. English shepherds are calm, smart, solid country dogs that work reliably and efficiently. They’re polite but reserved around strangers, and quiet provided they can put their talents to use. If you let them do their job they’re content to curl up at the end of the day. Staying out of the spotlight has helped preserve this breed’s stellar health and temperament.
Agustín: Golden retriever. Goldens are the go-to image of a gentle, biddable, dorkily happy dog that gets along with everyone and everything. Goldens are excellent choices for service dogs and deserve their popularity and reputation, and they don’t mind being made the joke every now and then.
Isabela: Originally I went with Pharoah hound, but swapped to Irish setter. Irish setters are swift, graceful, elegant dogs that conjure images of aristocrats on the hunt, but they’re also very happy, rollicking things that are bold, sweet, outgoing, and energetic all at once. They take advantage of a good day outside, reportedly with an intensive, happy-go-lucky, devil-may-care hunting style. They can be stubborn and sensitive, but are more willing to please than the other setters.
Luisa: Greater Swiss Mountain dog. Big-boned, powerful, and dependable, they thrive not on hard exercise, but steady, vigorous work. Swissers are capable of immense physical labor as well as protection duties. They were especially famous for pulling carts. Swissers are great with family and usually friendly with strangers, but can be reserved around them. They’re vigilant and watchful after so many years of guarding the farm. Like many dogs of their size, they’re especially exuberant as puppies.
Mirabel: Soft-coated wheaten terrier. The name might surprise--wheatens are just about the gentlest, mellowest, most affectionate terriers ever added to the AKC. They’re bright, happy, adventurous, and one of the better terrier choices for considerate children. But they’re still terriers and occasionally they’ll make you remember that, usually through stubbornness. Wheatens are VERY family-oriented and are well rounded from taking on triple purposes as herding and livestock guardian dogs. This has made them beloved among their homeland; after all, what more valuable dog to a farm than a dog that can do multiple things?
Pepa: Originally I went with saluki, but swapped to Pharoah hound. Pharoah hounds are very much sighthounds: independent, notably sensitive, not concerned with pleasing you. They’re swift and elegant, being made to chase down prey over long distances, and Pharoahs particularly had to work in harsh and unforgiving climates. They make a terror out of any household that isn’t prepared to handle what they are. They won’t stand to be treated harshly and are easily stressed by turmoil. You can’t bargain with them or force them to follow your lead. But unlike many sighthounds, Pharoahs are rather inquisitive and like to be involved when they deem a situation is safe. They’re among the most vocal of the group, and can make quite the combo with someone who has a sense of humor.
Félix: Miniature bull terrier. High-energy, adaptable, lively, mischievous, entertaining, and playful have all been used to describe this larger-than-life breed. They love the spotlight but very much think for themselves, and they’re tough. Humor and activity are vital in living with these dogs.
Dolores: Whippet. Whippets are a delight to a fastidious home; they’re mannered, quiet, polite, and clean. When their heritage kicks in, they run and run. Whippets are the fastest dogs of their size, which comes with physical issues. They’re slight things that can’t partake in rambunctious, rough-and-tumble kind of play. What they need is a calm home, the privilege of comfy furniture, and the opportunity to prove how agile, tireless, and zany they are when they show off their gift. They can make good watchdogs too.
Camilo: Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen. They look like wire-coated basset hounds, but looks can deceive. Vendéens are lively, sociable, tough dogs that carry themselves proudly and are always looking for something to do. As pack hunters, they get along well with other dogs and people. Vendéens easily get up to their own ideas and need someone who knows when to appreciate their humor and when to be firm. Everything about them was shaped to navigate difficult terrain, especially their coats.
Antonio: Bernese Mountain dog. Gentle, calm, and peaceful with other animals, Bernese often bond very closely with one person in the family. Care should be taken early to make sure these dogs do not become shy or timid. A Bernese is smart and steady at its core and a reliable, loving family dog.
Bruno: Vizsla. Vizslas are thin dogs, almost wiry. As a sporting breed they were developed by high society. Vizslas are smart, affectionate, active, and friendly, all par for the course. But unlike a lot of sporting dogs, they don’t do everything you tell them to do, simply because you tell them to. They’re more likely to think for themselves. They’re still devoted to their owners, to the point where they can get...weird, if they’re separated too long. They’re called Velcro Vizslas for a reason!
"Maybe she just doesn't like children."
"Mirabel pays more attention to the boy than she does."
Dolores didn't deny that hearing those kinds of comments hurt.
But neither did she deny their veracity.
Antonio was now almost six years old, and in that short time of life, Dolores knew that she had not been the best sister she could have been. She saw how Mirabel interacted with the boy and deep down, she envied her. She tried to excuse herself by saying that Mirabel had much more free time, that it was natural that she had more friendship and intimacy with her cousin, after all, they shared a room for the first five years of Antonio's life, while Dolores...
Dolres was busy.
Or that is what she said.
Too busy to stop and give the little boy the attention he needed and asked for.
Too busy to give affection and love to a child that was not to blame and had no way to understand why he was so often treated so cold.
Too busy to learn to deal in a healthy way with the fact that she played the wrong role in relation to Antonio.
Too busy to learn not to feel her heart breaking piece by piece every time she heard Antonio call Pepa "mom".
Too busy to try to solve her internal problems, and to be able to approach her brother without those little brown eyes reminding her of the moment when her world collapsed, never to be completely rebuilt again.
But that was the way it was, and Dolores didn't know what to do about it. She hated that dubious feeling she had for her brother. She wanted closeness, but closeness caused her pain. She wanted to show affection, but after more than five years of avoiding getting too close to the boy, she didn't know if she knew how to do that. She didn't even know if Antonio would want that. He must hate her, right? She was his older sister, but she had never been present.
But one day, this certainty that Dolores had was shattered.
Mirabel was sick, with a bad cold. Juliet's food helped to alleviate the symptoms, but the illness remained, and so she needed to rest. And with this, she ended up leaving vacant a function, which for Antonio, was of extreme importance.
The bedtime story.
With the adults busy, he turned to the other cousins and his older brother. Isabella had no talent to tell stories, Luisa and Camilo were too excited, which made the boy more agitated instead of helping him to sleep.
His last option was Dolores.
The girl was surprised by a knock on the door, since her room was soundproof. Soon the door was opened and Antonio timidly asked if she could read him a book.
How could she refuse?
The little boy smiled and ran to his sister's bed, who tucked him in, took the book, and began to read. Before she knew it, he was nestled in her lap, with heavy eyes and a small smile on his face.
She closed the book and set it aside.
"I think we've had enough stories for today. Let's go to your room?"
"Can I sleep here?" - Antonio replied, sleepily.
"You have such a nice room, your animals will miss you." - Dolores tried to convince him.
"Hmm... They'll be fine. Can I stay here, please?" - He looked at his sister with puppy eyes, and again, she couldn't say no.
"Okay, but just for today."
Antonio hugged her, surprising her.
"I love you Dolores."
Dolores smiled, still surprised by that small gesture, and hugged the boy back, kissing the top of his head.
"I love you too."
She then tucked her brother in beside her, watching for a few minutes as the boy slept. Maybe he didn't hate her after all. Maybe there was still time to fix that relationship. If she was supposed to be the sister, then she would try to be a good sister, the best Antonio could have.
After all, he was her baby brother.
And her baby.
Camilo Madrigal x fem! Reader
Hi!
This is a zombie I created.
It’s basically pieces I had in mind mended together somehow.
Hope you Enjoy!
.
█ █ █ █ █ 100% *Tuning complete*
.
-Ella es muy bonita, ¿verdad? (She’s really hot, isn’t she?)- whispered Camilo to himself, letting out a small whistle.
-Tu también eres muy bonito y gracias por el cumplido pero, por favor, repítemelo en mi lengua (You’re really hot too and thanks for the compliment but, please, repeat it in my language)- she said, winking at him before going into the house.
-Oh, feisty, aren’t we?- he said, following her a bit like a puppy.
Leaning against the handrail of the stairs, right before her, he smiled mischievously: -I like it-.
~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~
-Tío Bruno?- he repeated.
-Yes... what’s his deal?- she asked, moving some packages into the house.
-Seven foot frame with rats along his back, when he calls your name it all fade to black. Yeah he sees your dreams and feasts on your screa- he began saying.
-Yeah, yeah, sure. That sounds much more like a kid’s fantasy, rather than the description of a real person-
-What?! He’s just like that!- he protested.
-I’ll believe it once I see him. Anyways care to help me or not, shapeshifter?-
-Si, jefe (boss)- he laughed, turning into a more useful form.
~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~
-So... you love mi primo (my cousin) Camilo?- asked the curious Mirabel, elbowing her a bit.
From outside the older cousin’s door was Camilo, who started eavesdropping after he heard his name coming out from Mirabel’s room.
-Well... yes. I love him a lot- she admitted and Camilo felt his heart pumping crazily and all the blood going to his head, making him blush and smile like a fool.
Slowly he slid down the door, smiling and sighing: “She loves me! I’m in heaven! I’m the happiest human being alive!”
As if struck alive he began to run excitedly around the house, sharing his happiness to anyone willing (or not) to hear.
-Casita! Y/n loves me!-
-Luisa, she really loves me!-
-Abuela, Mama, Papa! She loves me!-
-Y/n LOVES ME!-
-Oh, I’m the happiest boy alive! Y/n loves m- he said, finding himself in front of said girl.
-Yep. I do- she smiled, as he began turning into a bunch of people out of panic.
Grabbing his ruana she pulled him in for a kiss.
-Now you can be the happiest boy alive. And I... can be the happiest girl alive-
~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~
-Mi amor, mi vida (my love, my life)... we’ve been together for so long and day after day I fell more and more in love with you. You’re the best I could ever ask for and I don’t want to lose you in any way, for any reason so... will you make me the happiest boy alive and marry me?- Camilo asked, down on one knee.
-That was done muy bien (very well), mi hijo (my son)! She’ll say si por cierto (yes, for sure)!-
-Gracias, papa (thanks dad)- he thanked, running up to their shared room, ready to propose.
-Mi amor (my love)!- he knocked.
As he got permission he entered the room, his courage beginning to let nervousness take the best out of him.
-Mi vida (my life)... marry me!- he just exclaimed while taking out the ring, bidding goodbye to all his practiced speeches.
Months and months working on them and he threw them in the trashcan like that!
Luckily for him she was in love with him, speech or not, and to his greatest joy she said: -No-.
As his face dropped she laughed a bit: -Just kidding, mi amor-
-Te quiero mas que mi vida (I love you more than (I love) my life) and I’d be honoured to become tu mujer (your wife/woman)- she added, tending him her hand so that he could put the ring on it.
-No more jokes like that mi amor, por favor (my love, please)- he chuckled, leaning in for a kiss.
-I’ll try to avoid that for future proposals-
-I don’t think you’ll receive any more proposals for I won’t let you-
-Possessive, aren’t we?- she smirked, remembering one of the first things he told her when they met.
-I like it-
~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~
Bonus
-Bruno... we need to talk!- said Pepa.
The poor man stared at the rest of the Madrigal family surrounding him threateningly, all but the soon to be wedded Camilo and Y/n.
-Oh, well yes! What, hermana (sister)?- he stuttered.
-Hey tío (uncle), I want not a word out of you!- said Isabela.
-I heard he gave them a prophecy already!- smiled Dolores.
-What!!!- they all exclaimed, Bruno included.
-And?- they asked, some turning to Dolores and other to Bruno.
-Well... - joined the bride, appearing behind them.
-... He told me that the man of my dream is already in my grasp and we’ll live happily!-
-Really?- asked Bruno, a bit perplexed because he didn’t remember saying anything like that.
-That’s how it is going to be. I guess your prophetic tendencies rubbed off me a bit- she smiled, as Camilo picked her up by the waist, pirouetting a bit with her and then kissing his soon-to-be wife.
Oh, how he couldn’t wait for the wedding to be over and finally have some time with his by-then wife!
And to be honest all his family was waiting for them to go on honey moon, Abuela (grandmother) even more than all the others: she couldn’t wait for grandkids.
madrigal grandkids + dynamics
alphabetical order so it’s fair
DO NOT TAG ANY OF THIS AS SHIP I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE TO SAY THIS.
antonio & camilo - mad lads. they’d be the most likely to be a tik tok duo
antonio & dolores - he’s the most cuddly and earnest with mirabel, but he also likes for his big sis to pick him up. w/ mira he’ll just be like “pick me up” but w/ dolores he gives her puppy dog eyes and goes “pretty pretty please” so that she’ll go OH OF COURSE MY PERFECT SPECIAL BOY
antonio & isabela - they like to do each other’s hair while listening to old operas on records
antonio & luisa - antonio loves it when she picks him up and helps him pretend to be an airplane. sometimes his animal buds (including the biggest ones) will ask for the same and he asks luisa on their behalf.
antonio & mirabel - we already know they’re super close in canon. as antonio grows older he and mira tell each other secrets nobody else in tha family knows. thick as thieves & cuddlebugs
camilo & dolores - i feel like he’s more chill with her the same way he’s chill with his mom. they’re super close. he knows they’re both more prone to being overwhelmed so he’s gentle with them. except for when he’s teasing dolores about mariano
camilo & isabela - they definitely act more like the classic antagonistic brother and sister trope. i think all the kids are like siblings rather than cousins since they were all raised together, but these two feel the cain instinct for each other every day. but if someone outside the family tries it theyre getting their ass kicked. used to play-fight/wrestle when they were kids but stopped once pressure started getting put on isa
camilo & luisa - once he learns how stressed out she is, he takes it upon himself to teach her how to properly slack off. shows her the perfect hiding spots in casita to take a nap. etc
camilo & mirabel - if camilo and isa are antagonistic, camilo and mira are the sibs who see each other and immediately start T posing
dolores & isabela - they have spa days together that nobody else is allowed to come to. once isa loosens up a bit after the movie, it turns out she and dolores are the two best madrigal sibs at telling dirty jokes, and they have each other snorting and losing it halfway thru their massages
dolores & luisa - dolores’s room is soundproof, so when luisa needs to chill, they hang out in there and watch telenovas + chat with each other about the stress their powers can cause them. dolores appreciates how softspoken luisa can be
dolores & mirabel - CONSTANTLY gossiping. they’ll have breakfast while dolores goes over all the tea she heard recently. mirabel likes to pretend like she’s above it but she isn’t.
isabela & luisa - they definitely confide in each other a lot. luisa figured out she likes hugging after getting that hug from mirabel (not many people hugged her before that) so when she hears about isa’s struggles she gives her the most spine-breaking hug ever
isabela & mirabel - they’ve both got a lot of healing to do for their relationship, but they’re definitely working on it. they both think it’s nice to be able to joke with each other. mira helps isa with her cactus garden that she’s started outside casita
luisa & mirabel - obv super caring and supportive of each other. they’re the kinda sibs that don’t really do jokey insults towards each other, they’ve got a really solidly wholesome relationship. they say “i love you” a lot
Our little cousin Pt. 1 ( Encanto Imaginas- ENG)
Also, If you like my work, check out my Encanto Masterlist. <3
- This is my first work in English, please be nice if I had any grammatical errors.
This is the second part of this Spanish Imagine.
....
Tumblr media
You were the youngest Madrigal (before Antonio's birth) and that means that all your cousins are protective of you.
Even if you are quiet and shy, and preferred to follow the steps of your Mama Alma and your aunts.
They love you in their way, and you love them too.
Isabela Madrigal
Tumblr media
Being little miss perfect is a really hard job for Isabella. When she could be fooling around with Dolores or laying in the grass and have her dress full of dirt, or just keep reading books about Botanics and all types of plants apart from flowers.
She’s always looking at you. Seeing you follow Abuela like a duckling, always nodding to her, always happy when you are praised. You kinda remind her of herself.
And you admire her, how pretty she is and how elegant and delicate her moves are. She makes mama Alma proud, so you tried to imitate her. But your shyness and insecurities always play against you. Making you look tense and about to cry in important events.
Isabela is the one who comforts you cause you don’t want to bother the adults.
She’ll carry you or take your hand. You’ll play with the laces of her dress to avoid any visual contact, and just let your nose be filled with the scent of lavender.
Both of you have a silent agreement to always help each other. When Alma commands Isabela something that she does not want to do, you would try to distract Alma and make puppy eyes to her. Saying that Isa promised a playdate with you or something like that.
You are her sweetheart, and her weak point, so she will accept.
Isabela, in payment for your kindness, will have no problem with actually having a playdate with you. Spoiling you a little bit (thanks to the gifts that the men of the town send her) or having a little picnic near to the crops.
Isabela talks a lot with you to compensate for your usual silence. Eventually, she will tell you her worries and that she doesn’t want you to be like her.
She wants to see you living your own life, free, happy, and confident.
You just look at her with shiny eyes and hug her every time that you can.
Growing out, the two of you became the face of the family, and secretly besties. You hypnotize Mariano every time that he and Isa have a date, and end up hanging out together while the young Guzman stays away, thinking that he is kissing your cousin.
When Alma said that the two would marry, you were really angry. And even if you love your grandma, you tried to talk with her and said that Isa is mature enough to decide when she wants to marry. and with who.
But Alma was stubborn, she thought that Isa will be happy with the decision and got angry with you, calling you selfish.
You hate upset people, especially your dear Mama Alma, but your desire to protect Isabela almost makes you hypnotize your grandma. It was Dolores who interrupt the two of you and drag along Isa to calm you down.
Isa hug you tightly and told you that everything was ok.
It was not. But in her arms, sometimes it would feel like it.
Dolores Madrigal
Tumblr media
You would not say that you have a favorite cousin.
But Dolores was your favorite from a young age.
When you were a baby, Bruno will always leave you with her, since both were quiet kids, he thought that It will be easy for you to open up with the family. It worked.
You like being around her, it was calming and relaxing. Dolores always knows what is going around your head and she will never say a word about it, instead, she comforts you petting you, or let sweet whisper scape her mouth, telling you funny things about the villagers.
Dolores liked you at first because you were a quiet child, in comparison with Camilo o Mirabel (who she babysit sometimes) your presence was more gentle and comfortable for her. With the years, she was the one who stands up to take care of you, or helps you, always listening to you, if you were sleeping good or not (in this case, she would go to your room and cuddle with you in completely silent)
She was the one who would stay awake at night (after Bruno’s disappearance), and when she listen to your loud cry, Dolores would not hesitate to come for you and hug you. Even if her ears hurt because it hurt her more to see you broken like this.
Growing up with her meant that you learned how to interpret her facial expression, especially her eyes. The two of you could communicate with a single glare, and all the Madrigals were still impressed by that.
Even when the two of you have duties to do, you would whispers to her randomly during the day and she would leave you romance books in your rooms, she knows that you love them, but everyone thinks that you’re still too young for romance. Dolores knows that they’re just being overprotective.
Oh God, she knows a lot of things. She knows about Bruno living in the walls. She knows about Isabela not wanting to marry Mariano. She knows of how sometimes Alma, Julieta, or even her mother will refer to you as Bruno when you are not around them, always by mistake, but they never correct themselves.
Sometimes Dolores is overloaded with sounds and information that she does not know what to do. She will stay all night walking alone around the house.
One day, you found her at 3 AM, you were reading the new book that she got for you and wanted to steal some cookies for the kitchen.
“What are you doing so late, Nena? “ She asked to you.
You felt your cheeks burn and point your book with your eyes.
She smiled, a smile full of tenderness.
“Could you read it to me? “ Dolores said.
You looked at her with confusion, but seeing her eyebags, you nod and took her hand, leading her to your room.
After some pages, both of you fell asleep immediately.
Pepa was the one who found you. That day, she calls Julieta with emotion. The sisters looked how, while you were sleeping with your little body extended in the bed. Dolores had her arms around your tummy. Trying to keep you near to her.
Luisa Madrigal
Tumblr media
You cried the first time that Luisa held you. It was probably because of her excited expression or her hard arms, maybe the little jumps that she made when she took you. You just cried and Bruno had to take you immediately. After that Luisa cried too.
She thought that you were scared of her. She didn’t wanna scare you. So she refuse to see you for a long time, even when Julieta or Agustin tried to show you that you just ware a normal baby who cry sometimes, or Isabela, who just took you with her and star follow her little sis around the house. Luisa just run away from you.
You don’t really remember any of that, but everyone does and sometimes tease Luisa with that.
When you were three it was the first time that you escaped from your home, all the adults were distant and distracted, only thinking about your father and why he left. For that, it was easy for you to walk outside of the house.
Anyone noticed until Dolores did her hourly check on you when she said that you were not in the house, everything was a disaster. Isabela screamed your name, and the adults scold each other.
But Luisa, who was the first one to run to the door, took a glance at your pretty green dress near the plaza. She went for you, and carry you back home. It was a little distance, but you were really tired.
“Wheres papa? “ You asked her, half-sleep. Luisa could give you an answer, and rub your back like her mama did one time that you cried for her uncle.
When you were back at home, everyone cheered up, remember that it was your special day. But or without Bruno, you should not feel displaced on your birthday.
You stay in Luisa’s embrace all evening, refusing to leave her. And Luisa was the happiest there.
Luisa was always working, so she could not entertain to like Dolores. And since her work involves getting dirty, and Abuela would never want you to get dirty, she could not share chores with you like Isa.
But you like Luisa, she was big and kinda intimidating, but her heart was soft and delicate. She always speaks sweetly to you, and you could see that she was extra careful when she touches you. It was like a big teddy bear.
Also, you like her room a lot. When you discovered that it was a beach you beg her to let you in. You wanted to see the waves of the sea and feel the sand again.
She tells you every time that she workout there, so you could enter with her, and while she does push-ups, she keeps an eye on you.
You started going to draw, but got bored easily, and then. There it was. The biggest collection of books that you have ever seen.
Oh yes, Luisa was the want who introduce you to romance novels…without noticing, of course.
When she saw that you have her book in your hands and was in the middle of the lecture, she felt horrified.
You were just a sweet little girl, you shouldn't be reading about romance and stuff. What would happen if you wanted to get married and leaf the family immediately. Or if a prince comes to you, and you accept his offer ad leave Encanto.
She took the book away from you.
The next day, she saw you reading it at dinner, and didn't have the heart to take it again when you look at her with a sad face.
So she told her mom.
Julieta tried to talk with you about how you could read these things in some years, but your pleading eyer shut her down.
She searched for Pepa, but the redhead couldn't do a thing, except pat your head and call you a prodigy for reading these books at a young age.
When they finally arrive with your Mama Alma, you had already finished the book. And you returned it to Luisa with a smile.
Since that, every time that she notices that a book was not in her place. She knew who was the little thief.
Sometimes she stays silent. Because she wants to talk about these books with you, but her chores don’t let her any free time.
You knew that thanks to Dolores. So you started to leave press flowers and letters in the books that you return, or even lend her some of the books that Dolores bought for you.
When Luisa finds those letters, she read your thoughts about the books and responds with another letter. Leaving it in any book that you have not read yet. Always smiling at the idea of having you as a pen pal.
You two are just hopelessly romantic.
....
Thanks for reading <33 Besitos a todos, mañana lo subo es español
Mending The Cracks, Part 1
Hey!  Erm...I've come up with this idea. Not actually seen the film yet, but I know a lot about what happens thanks to Tumblr. Please enjoy!
Quick note - I’ve also published this on my fanfiction account.
I do not own Encanto, or any associated characters in any way, shape or form.
It was typical, Julieta thought, that all three of her daughters should get sick at exactly the same moment. Thankfully her niece and nephews had escaped this bout of fever that seemed to be going around the family, but for how long, who knew?
She sighed as she put the finishing touches into the Ajiaco she was making. Hopefully if all went well after a bite her daughters would feel hungry enough to finish the rest.
She gave her husband, Augustín, a bowl and asked him to take it up to Luisa. She picked the two other bowls up and headed to the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs she nearly collided with Bruno, who instantly asked if he could take a bowl up to Mirabel.
Julieta hesitated only a moment - after recent events she felt she should spend a bit more actual time with her youngest daughter - but the puppy-dog look on Bruno’s face melted her [as it always did] and she let him take the bowl of her and head upstairs. She briefly wondered if he had had a vision, but ruled that thought out because otherwise he’d had told her and they’d had probably been an argument about it.
She sighed and pushed the thoughts from her mind.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
[In Isabela’s room]
Isabela coughed weakly into her hand and instantly felt pain racking through her body. She coughed again - this time managing to turn it into an actual fit - and genuinely thought her lungs might come out of her body.
“Vaya, cielo.*” She heard her mums soft voice from the doorway. “¿Estás bien?”
Isabela couldn’t even respond and just held her hand up in what she hoped was a 50/50 gesture.
“Here.” She felt her mums weight on the bed. “Have some of this.”
With an audible, totally unladylike, groan the young adult pushed herself up and - with trembling hands - took the bowl and had some of it. It only took the smallest mouthful but, true to her mama’s gift, it instantly had her feeling better.
“Gracias!*.” Isabela carefully put the bowl aside and hugged her mum. “I feel so much better now!”
“And you look it.” Julieta commented, noticing her daughters eyes looked more sparkly than they had ten seconds ago.
As soon as she said that the light in said eyes dimmed and Isabela curled up on herself and muttered. “Gracias...”
“Hey!” Julieta gently cupped her daughters chin. “What the matter?”
“It’s just...” Isabela debated for a second, then decided to just go for it. “...What do you think of this?” And she waved her hand, creating a small cactus which she presented to her mother.
Julieta did a double-take and gently took the prickly, little cacti from her oldest daughter. She saw the small flower on it and smiled. “It looks beautiful.” She said, with feeling.
Isabela raised an eyebrow. “Are you talking about the flower or the cactus?”
“Both.” Julieta answered. “The flower is, of course, pretty, but the cactus is nice as well. Even with it’s sharp bits-” She gently poked one of the sharp needles and drew a little bit of blood. “It’s still nice.” She, without thinking, took a spoonful of food and the cut instantly healed. “And you know the thing about cacti’s?”
Isabela didn’t respond, just looked at her steadily.
“They’re fairly strong and able to survive by themselves.” Julieta began, a part of her wondering where she was going with this herself. “But even then they still need water to survive. If you don't give a catcus water it will die...” She trailed off. “...Is this making sense?”
Her daughter considered for a few minutes. “I think so. Are you trying to say it’s alright to ask for water? Or help, rather?”
It took all of Julieta’s willpower for her to not punch the air in delight. “Exactamente*!”
Isabela laughed, a sound that was music to her mothers ears. “Well. I’ll try. But it’s a bit hard. How do you know that...you know.” She grimaced a bit. “Everyone will be supportive of your decisions?”
Julieta thought about this for a few minutes. Why did children ask the hardest questions? “...You don’t.” She said, simply. “You’ve just got to trust that people will be. Or will learn with time to understand your choices. It’s a bit trial and error.” She admitted. “Is there anyone you’re particularly worried about?”
Isabela looked at her and said, a touch ironically. “Can you not guess?”
“Abuela?”
Isabela nodded.
Julieta sighed. “Your abuela...has had a difficult life. She lost her husband at a young age and then had to raise me, Bruno and Pepa. Does that excuse her behaviour? No. Does it explain it? Hopefully. But I feel this is a discussion you need to be having with her, not me. If you feel able to?”
Isabela scrunched her nose up and a row of catci appeared round her bed.
Julieta shrugged. “That answers that then. Whenever you’re ready. There’s no rush. You might even find abuela apologises to you! Really-” She added gently, seeing her daughters doubtful face. “Abuela has a lot of faults, but one thing I know from growing up with her is that when she realises she’s wrong, she does tend to apologise. But anyway-” Julieta got up and picked up the bowl. “I just want you to know that myself and your papá love you very much, as do your sisters, and if you need to talk you know where we are okay? It may be a little late-” She admitted, as a pang of guilt hit her heart. “-But better late than never, as the saying goes. Te amo*, Isabela. Nunca olvides eso*.” And she smiled before gently shutting the door.
Isabela sighed and then, with a smile and a burst of energy, got up to practice cacti-making.
* Oh Baby.
* Are you alright?
*Thank you
*Exactly!
*I love you
*Never forget that
NOÉ!!!!!
encanto oc wheheosie
Noé; meaning rest
Arias; meaning farmer
main personality trait: always sleepy
he/they, 18 years old
baby of the family, it's debatable if i'll ever draw his older sister miel but she exists
love interest of luisa. the third drawing depicts the first time he met her
he'd fallen asleep and fallen in a ditch, luisa noticed and pulled them out of it, noé looked up and saw big buff woman and said 😳 (same king)
literally ALWAYS falling asleep
they help luisa to take breaks and find the quickest, lowest-effort shortcuts to finish a chore
she's so smitten with him it's adorable. they like napping in hammocks together
because he falls asleep in weird places (this boi will curl up anywhere) they're pretty much always covered in leaves and sticks and mud
their ruana used to be plain but soon after luisa introduced him to the family, mirabel stole their ruana while he slept and embroidered the wheat bales onto it. he woke up to the new designs and just accepted it lol
he does worry sometimes that they will ruin the embroidery, but mirabel always promises to fix any tears etc
his parents don't think he's very responsible since he's so laid-back, calling them lazy and always making his older sister miel do most of the chores because they don't trust him to do it to a high enough quality (or at all)
meeting luisa, noé saw how hard she works all the time and felt guilty that he didn't have the same drive, so he starts picking up the slack
his parents approve of luisa for this and think she's really good for him. miel is just grateful (especially now that she has a window into the life of another madrigal 👀💅)
noé often struggles with his words so when someone needs comfort the best he can do is hugs and listening to them rant if they need (they feel they're not doing much but everyone appreciates it. sometimes that's just what you need)
noé is actually a really good cook as long as they're not responsible for timings. his recipes are always bomb though and julieta enjoys making dinner with them if he stays over
he wants to have kids one day but is well aware that he needs to sharpen up before he can be ready
they're a crappy dancer like oml so bad. luisa has tried teaching him but he just does not have rhythm. it took isabela teaching him the exact steps and motions for him to be able to dance one song and that was for luisa's birthday. never make them step onto a dancefloor ever again
alma is unsure of them but knows that his family is essential to the community as farmers so she's pleased enough with luisa's choice. also she thinks they're a sweet boy. he often brings her tea and sits with her on the porch
agustín and julieta adore him, seeing how sweet he is with luisa, as does mirabel. isabela spends the most time with noé outside of luisa (because he's a window into the life of another arias 👀💅)
camilo got really protective of luisa lol, would glare at him all the time and shove between their space ("leave room for Jesus"), but like with mariano he gave in eventually
antonio likes hanging out with them and noé likes petting all the animals - he's very tactile. it's like those 'celebrity interviews but with puppies' videos, he doesn't hear half of what antonio is saying
antonio's nickname for him is 'stickbug'/'insecto palo' and yeah it's pretty accurate
dolores doesn't care about him that much sudjwiebd i'm sorry it's true she's too busy canoodling with mariano
she just sees them as some random village boy. he doesn't have a very interesting life compared to other people (i.e. her other prima and his sister 👀💅)
pepa and félix think noé is a little twink fjskjdjd they find it funny that he's the one luisa picked. i mean luisa. and noé, the insecto palo of the village. dating? hilarious. cute, but hilarious
noé's eye colour is uhhhh *runs away*
I have the mental image of Mirabel being tiny and trying to cuddle a baby Leviathan that's probably the same size as her and hold it up to the window to show her family how cute it is like kids do with puppies and kittens.
Please she totally would???? She views them as companions and will 100% try and introduce the family to them. Like Mirabel just wants them all to be friends. And the sea creatures are willing to “befriend” the other Madrigals (expect maybe Alma cause she’s…yeah…), for the sake of Mirabel.
Camilo, Dolores and Luisa will definitely put in effort to interact with the sea creatures, along with maybe Agustín.
Pepa, Julieta and Fèlix are a bit more hesitant, but will, as long as they’re passive.
Bruno is scared out of his mind, but for Mirabel, will go out every once in a while.
Alma and by extension Isabela are not willing to befriend, and do not want to associate with the. (Though, it would be a lie to say that Isabela doesn’t want to pet one of the rabbit rays…)
