A love story with more obstacles than a maze. A series full of cheating. I mean a lot of cheaters.
Let's take a moment to remember the cheaters. Mando's mother cheated on his father
with a woman causing a divorce and Mando being abandoned by his mother or at least that's the way he felt.
Then we have Mando's proud gay friend Vince, who learned his oppa boyfriend Kim Bash from Korea was cheating. And he was cheating with Clark who happened to be Barry's boyfriend (both relationships ended)
Barry decided to go on vacation with Mando and his sister Krishna (Mando's girlfriend) to forget Clark. Mando confessed his love for Barry and the two made love. Mando cheating on his girlfriend and Barry (though single) sleeping with his sister's boyfriend.
Okay though there was a lot of cheating the heart of this story was Mando (KOKOY DE SANTOS)and Barry (ALEX DIAZ)two people that were dreaming about one another before meeting (that silly Rapunzel fantastical dream) and felt a special connection the moment they met.
Unfortunately after realizing Barry (who identified as bisexual) had a boyfriend, Mando who suspects his own homosexuality (let's face it he knew he was gay) foolishly decided to date Krishna (BARBIE IMPERIAL) only to find out she is Barry's sister.
Barry was also emotionally unstable having tried to take his life before as well as after his sister learned he had sex with her boyfriend and was to say the least was furious. And he lost his sweet love Mando (albeit temporarily)
This series is available on iWANTTFC as well as their YouTube Channel.
you're missing life if you still haven't watched Sleep With Me.
Sleep With Me revolves around the love story of an interabled couple – a radio DJ who needs a wheelchair and a girl who suffers from a sleep disorder. It is written and directed by Samantha Lee, whose works include queer films "Baka Bukas" (Maybe Tomorrow) and Billie and Emma.
summary: harry, an overnight radio DJ who is in a wheelchair, and luna, who suffers from a sleeping condition, navigate their respective disorders and issues from past relationships as they start their romance
details: GL, philippines, 6 episodes, ~20 min each
content warning: ableism
available on: GagaOOLala, iWantTFC
what i liked:
high quality production and amazing performances
great representation of disability
all the characters, even the side ones, are fully fledged and nuanced. this show is actually a great example of how effective visual language and good dialogues can help conveying informations about the characters without falling into exposition dumps that take away from the feeling of immersion in the story. luna’s character development, in particular, is fantastic and the use of colors, lighting and setting to show it is [chef’s kiss]
janine gutierrez (harry) and lovi poe (luna) have a very nice chemistry and the relationship between the two characters feels incredibly natural. instant attraction doesn’t always seem believable to me, but in this case it fully does, maybe because there’s also an initial awkwardness to it that makes it really charming and close to real life: the characters talk over each other, stumble over their words, hesitate over the right thing to say….. it’s a carefully crafted unpolished feeling that makes you forget you’re watching a show
communication and consent are SO SEXY it’s honestly insane how sexy and hot those are
it features what has become one of my favorite female friendships of all time!!!!
the cinematography is very immersive and atmospheric, you really get to breathe in the night time and inhabit all the different spaces these characters live in, which is also helped by the editing and the framing of each scenes (some of them looks like paintings)
need me the entire soundtrack of this show tbh
what i disliked:
'disliked' is definitely too strong of a word, but this is one of those rare cases where i wish the show was just a little bit longer. around episodes 4 and 5 the pacing feels slightly rushed to me and i would have liked to linger more on the different stages of harry and luna's relationship. i also would have loved to see more of harry's job as a DJ and learn more about why she wanted to become one in the first place
as an italian, seeing spaghetti getting broken in half got kill bill sirens blasting in my head (JOKING IM JOKING) [but also please don't break your damn spaghetti]
notes: a huge thank you to lisa @stickymoonsoul for recommending this to me, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND it too!!!

A burkini is a type of full-body swimsuit, a fusion of "burka" (a loose garment worn by some Muslim women in public) and "bikini". As reported by NPR, the burkini aligns swimwear with Islamic principles, adhering to the Quran's guidance for women to dress modestly.
In an interview with The National, Erica explained that choosing to wear a burkini was a reflection of her deep respect for her culture.
At 24 years old, Erica also holds the distinction of being the first-ever participant from Pakistan in the pageant.
