Things I think would happen if Jeeves and Wooster were on DS9

Bertie is the only person on the station who has not yet clocked Garak as a spy. He spends a lot of time in Garak's shop either ordering the gaudiest clothes imaginable or asking Garak to back him up in whatever fashion argument he's having with Jeeves (which Garak is only too happy to do).

Jeeves fantasizes about murdering Garak a thousand times a day. This goddamn lizard man is his white whale. Any attempt to find blackmail material on him takes him down a hundred different rabbit holes leading to dead ends. He's met his match. There are flames. Flames on the side of his face.

He can't even take Garak to task for his garbage opinions on Earth literature because he knows full well how that would be taken.

Garak actually quite likes Jeeves, because game recognizes game and he respects a fellow manipulative bastard when he sees one. However, since he is, at the end of the day, a little shit, he takes great pleasure in dressing Bertie in louder and louder outfits just to watch Jeeves grind his teeth.

(He's also admittedly fond of Bertie, who's too nice and trusting to treat him with the same suspicion and contempt that nearly every other person on the station does. And if Bertie vaguely reminds him of a certain doctor, what of it?)

Quark quickly figures out that Bertie is absurdly easy to scam. Jeeves spends so much time foiling him that he's practically an informal member of the station security team. Odo drops by his table at the replimat every morning to swap Quark-related intel.

Jeeves also won't stop winning at the Dabo table, infuriating Quark even further. There's an ongoing arms race between Quark trying to find excuses to ban Jeeves from the bar and Jeeves finding ways to blackmail Quark into letting him back in.

Jadzia is the first person to notice the weird requited-unrequited thing J&W have going on and finds it endlessly entertaining. She makes a game of chatting to Bertie about Jeeves as if they're already an established couple (I hear it's Valentine's Day on Earth, are you and Jeeves doing anything special? Worf and I had an amazing romantic date last week at that new Bolian place, you should try it!) Her amusement gradually fades into astonishment the longer Bertie doesn't get it.

Jeeves sees Jadzia's increasingly unsubtle encouraging glances and wishes he could incinerate her with his mind.

Worf knows Jeeves does illegal shit in the course of protecting Bertie or extricating him from accidental alien wedding rituals. He knows it. He just can't prove it. And Odo is no help, because Jeeves keeps himself too unobtrusive and is too invaluable to the cause of keeping Quark in check for Odo to want to look into him that closely.

In the absence of hard evidence to pin him down, Worf's relationship with Jeeves remains tersely cordial. He grudgingly supposes that nobody who has such an amazing depth of knowledge about Klingon opera and poetry could be that bad.

You can't let Bertie and Morn in a room together. Once they get going they NEVER shut up.

Star Wars Rebels + Star Trek: Voyager AU Part 2

So just some random things for this AU:

Kallus only leaves the aeroponics bay for the purposes of betting on relationships. Biggest J/C shipper on the ship, just beating Chakotay himself. He absolutely uses Zeb’s replicator rations for his bets, which Zeb allows because he’s a) not using them and b) glad that something is getting his boyfriend away from the fertilizer fumes for a few hours. Plus Zeb ships it too, it kinda reminds him of his first few weeks on the Ghost when Hera and Kanan tried to hide their relationship.

When Resolutions happens Kallus is absolutely insufferable. Imagine being a J/C shipper and only knowing that the Captain and Commander spent several days alone on a planet and came back with even more romantic tension. What happened on the planet Captain? Commander? I’m not saying that if Kallus found out about the bathtub that he’d have a stroke, but I’m also not not saying it.

Kallus also spends his time trying to get various crew members together. The Delaney sisters and their forays into the dating world are always entertaining. Tom and B'Elanna have that will they won't they tension that is just so delicious. Ensigns Bennet and Macormak though, they're his second favorite. He loves those oblivious idiots so much. Especially after Macormak keeps Zeb from running off ahead during a fight with the Kazon. So when Bennet dies, well, it shatters Kallus a little.

Hera and Samantha Wildman occasionally have girls nights. Those nights either Kanan takes all parenting duties (like Hera does when Kanan wants to hang out with his dad friends) or Zeb or Neelix watch both Jacen and Naomi Wildman so Kanan can also get some time away. Less often Ezra and Sabine watch the youngest Spectre, because they’re helpless in the face of Jacen’s lothpuppy eyes. One time Captain Janeway watched both kids and long story short both children came back with tiny command uniforms and breathe that smelled suspiciously like coffee.

Sabine and Ezra are both younger than the rest of the Voyager crew (Harry’s only older than Sabine by about a year but he’s clinging to that like a child clutching their safety blanket) excluding the literal infants. They’re basically the babies of the Voyager family, and the crew talks about them accordingly. More than once they've gotten separated from their fellow crew on shore leave causing Tom to run up to the local authorities and put out a missing child alert. No one (openly) finds this amusing except Tom.

Sabine figures out how to replicate beskar right before they encounter the Borg. Sabine hates the Borg. She hates them as a concept, hates them as a reality, just hates them. There's just something about an enemy that's able to so completely strip you of your personality, your individuality, that activates the primal fear part of her brain. Her brief mental debate if she should use her knowledge of beskar replication for the crew (it's sacred and not meant for outsiders) ends the first time she sees a crew member breakdown remembering Wolf 359 (I am making one of the background crew a Wolf 359 survivor, sue me). Voyager's crew has become family and what is beskar for if not to protect family?

Voyager gets beskar hull plates and bulkheads.

Tuvok, Ayala, and Joe Carey give Kanan advice on how to be a good dad. Naturally, it's all correct, yet they also all contradict each other. Tuvok's advice (based on what to do with telepathic Vulcan babies) actually works really well, which strengthens the friend part of his and Kanan's frenemies dynamic.

Ezra and Kanan (and to a lesser extent baby Jacen) set Q’s teeth on edge whenever he shows up. Unfortunately, this just seems to make Q show up more often. The Q Continuum has a love-hate relationship with Force sensitives because they’re living reminders of three Q who ran off to a Galaxy Far Far Away, decided to live as a creepy family, and gave some mortals phenomenal powers. No one wants to be reminded of their weird relatives.

I just want to say that at one point thanks to Q Hondo Ohnaka and Lwaxana Troi are on the ship at the same time. There is a considerable amount of chaos, fire, and firey chaos.

So. @purlturtle tagged me in a thing and now we all get to suffer for it. ;3

RULES: post the names of the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! Tag as many people as you have WIPs.

Okay, to start with: I do not have a WIP folder. My Google Docs is a conglomerate of utter disorganization that somehow manages to still function as a repository of writing. Sort of.

Many of these are just snippets that are more or less a ghost of an idea, or that probably deserve their rest in the quiet soil of the cemetery of fleeting ideas. Others are determined to haunt me until I give them some sort of manifestation, or finish shaping their forms. Who knows, maybe y'all will turn one into the other?

time for a planetary sedimentologist au! also what is that

the reason i wont do a star trek au is bc it's too close to what i do in the lab (/j) but w/ that etho botanist rumor?? i could be convinced

tbh it's basically studying dirt and rock and weathering, etc, on other planets, or as close as we can get on earth. what i do is study dirt samples from places analogous in composition/condition (as close as we can be) to mars to see if we can find any carbon chains (ie: organics!) :) it helps the mars rover in the jezero crater do it's job better since it's doing the same thing the same way

it's nothing big, it's just undergrad research. for now that is! woo science!!

Fandom-Related Ask Meme Answers

B: A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind.

So... Symbrock (Venom) struck me as a bit strange at first. I'm not into monsters or super hero films or comics. Then I saw a friend on Tumblr recommend a Symbrock fic, and very randomly I took a peek. The next thing I knew, I was addicted. I saw it five times at the cinema and my Symbrock fic is my most popular story on AO3.

H: Do you prefer real-life TV shows or animated TV shows?

Real-life ❤️ I don't know why. My DVD shelf just leans that way.

J: Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr.

The Old Guard. I'd never heard of the comics, didn't even have Netflix, then I start seeing all these gorgeous romantic gifs of two guys who clearly adored each other to death. I was so intrigued, then it was love at first watch.

L: Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for?

Oh god. Just one? Okay, I want someone to draw me a Mystrade Les Miserables AU. Mycroft is Javert in full uniform and Greg is Valjean in disguise as the mayor.

O: Choose a song at random, what ship does it remind you of?

Spotify has thrown me up No Judgement by Niall Horan. Probably not a surprise, but this has always been a Mystrade song for me. Whenever I hear it, I imagine Greg coaxing a somewhat nervous and uncertain Mycroft to relax with him - to take a chance on something he's never tried before.

P: Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

We need more Robin Hood AUs. In every pairing, in every fandom. Seriously, there is no fandom on earth which wouldn't benefit from a really good Robin Hood AU or two.

I’m trying to jump back into DS9 but I can tell I still have J&W brain because I keep thinking stuff like “how could Sisko use ~the psychology of the individual~ to manipulate this situation in the Federation’s favor in a way that doesn’t technically violate the Prime Directive”

Actually though, I realized while I was writing that, Sisko does pull that kind of shit all the time. Calling Garak in to "take his measurements" during a strategy meeting so that he'll overhear and spill important information to Cardassia and suchlike

I think Sisko would generally steer clear of Jeeves and Bertie on Deep Space Nine (as one person said in the tags of that other post, he simply does not have the time) but I think he could occasionally use Jeeves in those situations where he needs to wriggle around Starfleet regulations to prevent greater harm from occurring.

In one episode Garak and Jeeves are forced to work together to save some hostages or something and it’s the worst day of Jeeves’s fucking life. Garak denies all allegations that he is wearing that hideous purple shirt on purpose just to fuck with him.

Bertie found a shiny trinket on the Promenade. Whatever alien mercenary Quark was meant to be selling it to is threatening every person she sees trying to find it, but unfortunately it emits a force field that causes whoever's holding it to pass beneath everybody's notice.

Bertie thinks everyone is just being extra unfriendly today and it’s really hurting his feelings.

Worf suspects that Jeeves is keeping a supply of illegal knockout drugs and gets a warrant to search Bertie’s ship. The only thing he finds is Jeeves’s collection of Rosie M. Banks novels.

I’M A BIT LATE WITH THIS, but I’ve been meaning to do this for awhile. I want to start reccing more fics that people haven’t asked for, and thought this was a good way to start that :P

After I made my Top 30 Read-Again Fics (March 2019) fic list, I thought hmm, why not just make a list of my fave fics I bookmarked in 2018? Because why not?

So here we are; it was a RIDICULOUSLY hard selection process (it was supposed to be only 10!), since everything I bookmark are amazing stories. Because this was fun to do for Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d continue it for a month long challenge :)

One of these will be posted each day for the whole month of May and you all get to choose what the love note consists of.

Just like last time, all characters and prompts are jumbled and assigned a letter or a number, but with a twist. This time there is a bonus prompt category of AUs and I will be listing out the fandoms of the characters included here. Also different is that the Pet Names and the AUs can be claimed by more than one person, but there is still a limit (which is listed with each category). They will also all be kept gender neutral.

Samus stared at the screen of the computer, his expression unreadable as her eyes skimmed over the words on the digital portal to the internet. Link cocked a worried eye, as she had not moved for several minutes. Ness and Meggy sat to the side, shifting guiltily on the couch.

Really, Link wasn’t sure how she had avoided what the fans drew and wrote of her for so long, but somehow she had. However, upon discovering Meggy’s “habit” of writing certain types of stories, she had investigated.

It had not been a pretty sight.

“And how long,” asked Samus. “has this been going on? Pray tell?” she asked in a voice with all the cold of winter in it.

Ness gulped. “Well… pretty long. I think fanfiction itself has been around since “Star Trek” started getting popular, but if you want to get technical about it “Dante’s Divine Comedy” is a fanfiction of the bible.” explained the PK user. “As for Smash Bros fanfiction? Well… not sure.”

Samus inhaled and exhaled again, this time fixing her eyes on Meggy. “And you also write this… stuff?” she asked.

Meggy, who felt very much like sinking into the carpet and ceasing to exist gulped. “Y-yeah. But none of the gross stuff!” she assured quickly. “J-just superhero stuff! Marvel AU’s and stuff like that!”

Samus nodded and turned her gaze onto her boyfriend. “You know about this stuff?”

Link nodded. “Yeah. There’s actually some good stuff on there if you know where to look. Just… just don’t go into the Harry Potter section.” he warned.

Samus sighed. “And why, pray tell, are there so many stories where Zelda and I are screw-” she remembered the children in the room and corrected herself “spending intimate time together?”

“Samus, we’re Gen Z kids who were raised by the internet. You have nothing we haven’t heard before.” said Ness.

Link, who looked ready to burst into laughter, interjected. “Well, probably because they think you and Zelda are cute together dear. I’m sure there are other reasons, but to each their own.”

“And what about the ones where I’m with inhuman entities, animals, tentacle monsters, and some creature from My Little Pony?” this time Meggy started laughing and Link looked ready to follow. Somehow, though, he kept a somewhat straight face.

“W-well I d-don’t know dear.” he said, struggling to hold in his amusement. “I guess some people have… vivid imaginations?”

“I DON’T KNOW WHAT MY LITTLE PONY IS!” cried Ness, his face beet red. “No idea! None!”

He was ignored.

Samus looked ready to take an axe to the computer, but Link grabbed her hand. “Starshine, look. Some people like to write stories about us. For them it’s a creative outlet. We can’t stop them from doing it, but we can enjoy the works of imagination they produce. …As long as we avoid the weird stuff.” he said.

Samus sighed and nodded. “I guess you’re right.” then a small smile came over her face. “Heh, it’s almost like-” but then she clammed up, casting her eye on Meggy and Ness, who now had suspiciously angelic looks on their faces.

Liars.

“Stay away from my computer.” she said sternly. “I mean it you two. Stay. Away.”

“Of course Samus.” they said in unison.

The Smash Mansion code for “sex in the showers” was “balancing the budget”. Since Link and Samus had been “balancing the budget” for about half an hour now and were likely to continue doing so for about another hour, Meggy and NEss had decided to see what Samus had been guarding on her computer.

Because in the Smash Mansion things like “personal barriers” were about as effective as wet paper palisades.

Megaman, whom they had shanghaied into helping them, sighed as he interacted with the computer. “You guys are going to be in so much trouble.” said the android.

“Just shut up and be happy we got you deniability.” said Meggy.

Megaman rolled his eyes and continued his work, bypassing the defenses of Samus’s computer in a few moments. “You’re in.” said Megaman, bringing up the now open home screen. “And I am out.” he said, hurriedly leaving the room.

Meggy and Ness eagerly crowded up to the screen. “So, where should we look first?” asked Meggy.

“Umm… search history?” offered Ness. Meggy grinned and fired up the internet.

Ten minutes later Meggy poked the drowsing Ness awake. “Hey, I think I got something.” she said.

Blinking awake, Ness got close to the screen, snuggling up to Meggy. “Alright.” said the Inkling girl. “Aside from the fact that Samus likes cat videos, race cars, and has a weird thing for “man in uniform” porn,” Ness shuddered. “I also found the she’d accessed this one site in particular several times every day.” she said, bringing up the site in question.

Ness frowned as he read the title of the site. “Stars are Most Beautiful When They Fall.” he said, shooting Meggy a look.

Meggy nodded. “It’s a poetry site. People discuss their favorite poems, styles, and sometimes post their own stuff. And, from what I can tell, Samus is on here as Maiden_of_Iron.”

Ness looked incredulous. “Samus… is on… a poetry site?” he asked.

“Yup.” said Meggy. “And that’s not all. Read this.” she said.

Ness looked at the poem filling the screen.

Upon his back he bears the world,

standing like an Atlas,

he will break, being your sword,

He will be rendered helpless.

Let him rest.

Let him know peace.

I love him for his courage is peerless,

Before he breaks, grant him release.

Meggy and Ness were silent for a long time before shutting off the computer and wlaking away.

“Don’t do it again.” growled Mario as Ness and Meggy poked at their food.

“Do what again?” asked Meggy, doing her best to pretend to be innocent. It didn’t seem to be working.

“You live in a mansion with Mewtwo. Nothing stays secret here for long.” said Mario. “And you need to stop going through Samus’s things.

Ness sighed. “Alright, we’re sorry. Samus secretly writes poetry about her boyfriend. We won’t do it again.” said the PK user.

“See that you don’t. Or I’ll feed you to Samus myself.” said the plumber.

Samus slowly traced a shapless form on her lover’s bare back as he slept. He seemed peaceful now. Happy.

Link wasn’t happy very often. That was the dirty secret about being a Hero. A real Hero. They weren’t happy. Happiness was, by definition, selfish. It required you to take.

Heroes weren’t very good at that.

Samus knew she wasn’t a hero. But Link was. And he wasn’t happy.

But she liked to think that sometimes, when he was with her, he might be. Even for a few moments.

He wasn’t happy. But maybe he could be one day. And she had sworn to herself that she would be the one who mad him so. Because, God help her, her heart had been stolen. Stolen by this gentle man with the soul of a warrior and the heart of a knight.

As she snuggled in close, she felt a few choice words rise to her lips.

Let him be soft.

Let him be gentle.

Let the fire go from his soul.

Let him smile oft.

Let his joy be not accidental.

Let sunlight fill his soul.
