All the outfits and styling of Sandra Oh as Jenny Yum in Quiz Lady are just so AH. YES. So perfect for the character but also so so so good? Constantly over the top in a way that could be just ridiculous in a different movie, but this movie doesn't want us to think she's ridiculous. Look at that last outfit. That's the end of the movie. All the growing and changing has happened and she still looks that way because that was NOT something she was supposed to outgrow. (And actually it works exactly the same with Awkwafina's character, she also does her fair share of growing and changing but her personal style? Still the same, because THAT was not the problem) Sandrah Oh is 52 and she looks amazing in this style, and that is frankly so good to see. Do what you want forever, stop living in prisons inside your own mind.

What I've learned about dieting
Diets aren't fun but if you don't enjoy it at least a little bit, you won't succeed.
(Disclaimer: This is based on my personal experiences and my current medical conditions/family history and will not apply to everyone. I am not a doctor or dietician so please don't read this as blanket advice for everyone. Your best resource for recommendations based on your health/family medical history would be your primary care provider or a dietician not a blog.)
If you're miserable you're more likely to "fall off the wagon" and it will be harder to get back on
It's a lot easier to allow yourself some yummy treats because they're good for the mood and soul than it is to ban all yum from your life
You don't have to follow a premade diet
Atkins, South Beach, Slim fast, Jenny Craig, etc have great resources for diet and nutrition
Paleo, keto, vegan, vegetarian, etc are great for the people who WANT to follow them
You can pick and choose and try different things to find what works for you
Not every diet will work for every person
You can still have yummy things
You don't have to cut out sugar completely
You don't have to cut out soda completely
You don't have to cut out carbs completely
It's all about moderation
Find what works for you.
How I created my diet (mention of doctor's, medical concerns, lab work, medications)
Scheduled a consultation appointment with my primary care provider.
Consultation appointment consisted of getting my current height and weight, discussing my personal goals for weight loss, blood work to check A1C (family history of diabetes on both sides), CBC with a full metabolic panel (family history of kidney problems, personal history of vitamin deficiencies and anemia), discussion of different types of diet, and discussion of weight loss drugs (I wanted to try it without medication assistance first but PCOS and my birth control can both contribute to weight gain).
The diet was simple, eat like normal for two weeks and track in MyFitnessPal. After two weeks try to reduce intake by 100-500 calories but don't go under 1,200 calories.
Schedule follow up appointments every three months to monitor progress.
First follow up: Lost approximately 10 pounds.
Had some trouble maintaining diet on vacation but had so much fun and had more exercise from walking everywhere and didn't eat until I felt full so still stayed close to the diet.
Second follow up: Maintained weight from previous follow up. Discussed diet and trip and decided to try medication.
Started phentermine.
Energy has been higher, appetite has been smaller, food choices have been way way better. Mood has improved.
Next follow up: February

The Irish Lass and the Scottish Lad Chapter 40
AO3
He is bursting to tell them. Claire convinced him to wait.

“We are having them over for tea. All together will be better.”

“Aye, you’re right. It is just…”

“I understand. I want to shout it to the world, as well. Even knowing that women have babies every day, this feels like the first one ever. Like it is unique to us.”

He knows exactly what she means. Babies are born every second but not to them. He kisses her.

“Alright, I will be patient.”

It is a long three weeks until the tea. That day, they both hurry home. Jamie arrives first and gives their spotless home a quick going over. Then he starts the various pastries they will be serving.

When Claire walks in, she stops in the living room and breathes in the scents coming out of the kitchen.

“Oh Jamie, yum!” she sighs. From in the kitchen, he grins.

“Come in and sample.” His invitation is accepted. He hands her a plate of crisps, tiny cakes, and puddings. Taken a seat at the table, she eases her shoes off and sighs.

“Thank you Jamie. Perfect. I will do the meal,” her nose picks up the scent of roasting meat, “or you can.”

“I knew you would be tired. It was no problem to start a meat and three vegetables.”

She finishes one of the delicate little cakes and motions him to her. He stands between her open legs. “You are the best Jamie Fraser. I pray our son is just like you.”

With a grin, he bends down to kiss her. “Or a daughter just like you.”

She slips into a loose top and a pair of leggings. Her hair is freed from her work bun. Jamie sets the dining room table and places the platter of beef and veggies in the center. He feels the glasses with wine all but Claire’s where sparkling grape juice replaces the alcohol.

They are ready.

The Fraser/Murray’s and the Beauchamp’s arrive right on time. Jenny and Ian hired a babysitter for the evening.

They are greeted with hugs and kisses.

“Claire, you are positively glowing. My brother must be doing something right.” Jenny kisses her cheek.

“Janet!” Ian shakes his head then Jamie’s hand, “She never changes.”

Jamie laughs. “You would be bored if she did.”

“My darlings. Everything smells delicious.” Julia enthuses as she hugs them.

“Wait until you taste desert. The sugar and chocolate have me salivating.” Ellen replies.

They wait until desert. He refills her glass of juice when he goes to get the tray. As their families oh and ah over it, he sits it in front of her.

“We have a toast.” He announces. Everyone turns to look at him, “and an announcement,” he lifts his glass and they follow suit, “To this family and it’s growth. To the next generation, Ian and Jenny’s children and the one Claire and I will be having in seven months.”

They still hold their glasses up. After a second to process, Brian breaks the silence. “Saluté!” He roars and knocks his glass against theirs and then the others.

His action breaks the stunned yet joyful silence. ‘Saluté’ and ‘Congratulations’ echo around the table. The women all rush to hug Claire and the men to pat Jamie on the back.

“You really didn’t waste any time.” Jenny is grinning widely, “Good on you. There is nothing like a bairn.”

“Claire, why didn’t you come to me? I would have been happy to confirm your pregnancy?”

“I got dizzy than sick at the hospital. Geillis was there with a pregnancy test.  I want you there at the delivery. But as my mum, not my midwife.”

“Logical as always.” She hugs her. “I am so excited for you both. What an awesome adventure you are starting.”

“I could’ve said it better myself.” Ellen says.

“Welcome to the club, son.” Brian can’t stop grinning. He is completely smitten with all his grandkids. To have another on the way is wonderful.

“It is going to be a beautiful ride.” Henry adds.

I've been hit with the Billion Year War.
I guess my canon for it? Idk I never watched the arc I don't know what sparked it but fuck it I made it some zombie-apocalypse-turned-Nuclear-Winter that no-one knows if it's considered "ended" because it fuckin snowy and time feels forever and that's why it's called 'Billion Year'. Anyways-
Early days/Midpoint (year 1-7): zombies are everywhere, gangs and groups are everywhere. It's every man for themselves
Both Achechalla family and P.I.E split about two months apart from each other. Ghost dies to a rouge gunshot early on, which eats away at Toast. He slowly becomes more and more aggressive to others, and even starts to lash out at the team near the end, until one night, he just slips away in the dark, leaving Colin, Spooker and Woah to fend for themselves.
With the Achechallas, no-one really knows why. They just split apart and now the kids are all going solo (except Sue: she's with Gertrude) and Papa has just vanished - he can't be contacted, no sight of him. It's assumed he's dead but you never know (his ass does not appear until a week after the end. Sorry old man but the void worms are hungry)
Everyone else that's alive (Toast's siblings, any of their friends ect.) Are either in different groups or alone
As the 'war' progresses, it starts to become a very cold winter, which kills off the apocalypse and alot of people (Jenny Toast, Colin, Sue and Gertrude are four of them. Rip) Soon it's realised that this ain't no normal winter, and it takes a year of snow for it to hit that yeah, they're stuck in a mini Ice age.
Late Game (year 8-13): there are a few zombie stragglers, but now it's mainly other people to be weary of.
At this point, Sally and Toast are going feral for different reasons, Billy is trying to fix this, Spencer is... Spencer, and Spooker is trying to keep Woah alive in the frozen wastelands.
Also Gavin might've ditch his group, found where Billy is and agreed to help him. He wants out of the cold. 4 months later they found a solution that takes ages to get to.
While that's going on, Spooker and Woah move around, looking for supplies and even meeting some familiar faces, but they both ended in disaster so They end up sheltering in the outskirts of the city for the rest of the winter.
I have a scenario where Gavin and a very Not-Mentally-Well Johnny fight in the middle of the street that gets interrupted just before Johnny has the chance to kill Gavin by Spooker. Johnny, Spooks and Woah all get stunned silenced and Gavin slips out while they have this tense reunion.
Anyways, Billy and Gavin manage to finally get the ice age to stop (but not before Gavin dies to his wounds) after 14 years
I don't know if I want people who died during the war to get revived because on one hand, Ghost and Toast reunion 2.0, but on the other, yum yum angst so I'll just leave it as "only some come back" i.e The Ones We Care About (random strangers are still dead)
Anyways - Apocalypse over! Woo!

Hi Mar! We’ve talked a lot about reading and so I wanted to know what your favourite tropes are, and an example of a book or a fic which does that trope really well! 💛
Thanks babe! I love talking about books, although tropes always trip me up somehow. According to the internet, these are some of the most common ones in romance novels and I have been reading a lot of those lately (trying to make up for lost time apparently, but that's a conversation for a different day)
Please check the content warnings before reading (had to include a read more because this list got a lot longer than I anticipated)
Friends to lovers - Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams. I absolutely adore her series and this was such a lovely take on the friends to lovers trope.
Enemies to lovers - I'd say Triple-Duty Bodyguards by Lily Gold fits this trope. I loved the inclusion of struggling with PTSD and the impact of that on a relationship. (there's a reason for the triple in the title, please check content warnings) Also think The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon had an interesting take on this. Oh! And From Bad To Cursed by Lana Harper is another great portrayal of this trope. Guess I love me a good enemies to lovers huh.
Secret identity/billionaire/royal - Her Titans by Genevieve Jaspers. For the love of God, heed the content warnings. She accidentally hooks up with a member of one of the biggest gangs (3-piece-suit, money out the wazoo type of gang. I think they dealt in real estate?) in Ironhaven, but someone's out to get her. Oh boy, this was spi-cy
Grumpy/sunshine - This is probably one of my favourite tropes, and the best portrayal I've read was in Everything For You by Chloe Liese, which is also a queer sports romance
Stuck together - Three Swedish Mountain Men by Lily Gold. They rescue her when she's skidded off the road in Middle Of Nowhere Sweden and then they all get snowed in. Only one way this can end.
Best friend’s brother/sister - I loved the brother's best friend angle in Hero by Jolie Vines (also some of the hottest spice) where he saves her from an evil uncle. With a chopper. He is also ex-military so, you know, there's that.
Second chance - The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams or The Winter Of Second Chances by Jenny Bayliss also has a lovely spin on this (the book club in that book holds my entire heart). Another good option would be Seven Days in June by Tia Williams, absolutely adored the backstories of these characters.
Fake relationship - Isn't It Bromantic? by Lyssa Kay Adams does this really well (although the conflict resolution felt rushed)
Holiday romances - I am a sucker for Christmas-themed romance novels. I treat myself to a couple of new ones every year. My favourite ones have to be 12 Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss (which also fits the friends to lovers trope), Duke, Actually and So This Is Christmas by Jenny Holiday, and The Holiday Trap by Roan Parrish (this one left me in absolute tears which I did not see coming)
did I really expose my entire e-reader history in this list? Uh, yes I did. Oops. I don't know what to tell you, the inspiration for my smutty fics had to come from somewhere and if you feel the need to judge me, please do so elsewhere. We do not yuck other people's yums on my page

Jenny and Jill took part in a cooking competition over at the grocery store.  Jill won with her fancy pecan waffles.
Junior was disappointed his ham and egg sandwiches didn’t place.  Jacob couldn’t figure out how his bowl of cheerios didn’t win.
(I could go for a Waffle House pecan waffle right now.  yum.)
