Hello, Sunset - 6

AN: This is my longest chapter to date. I really suck at writing dialogue, which is just my real life awkward self presenting in fiction. I would love to hear what people think about this chapter or just the story in general. Need some inspiration as I'm stuck on the next chapter. The writing gods have left me and there's a metaphorical brick wall between my ideas and the blank Google doc ... There wasn’t really any time for melancholy, not for Y/N. She wanted to wistfully brood about her 10 days in Asia and play the nostalgic CARAT post concert, but the end of the year was relentless. Y/N travelled back to Tokyo the very next day to catch her flight home to London. She used the weekend to reset her body clock and catch up on her emails before she was back at the office on Monday.

By the time she landed in London, her episode on Amazing Saturday had already aired. She didn’t think the episode would have a huge audience. She had hoped to make an impression on the Korean audience but wasn’t expecting to suddenly be trending on Naver or anything. She had turned off the airplane mode on her phone whilst briskly making her way through the long route from the gate to baggage collection. It was a good thing her phone was silent as suddenly the notifications piled up. She opened up Instagram first as that’s where the most notifications were from and saw that Josua had tagged her on a post.

It was the second time he’d done that since they had met back in September. Then, it had been a picture they had posed together for a magazine at the Marni show. This time, it was a clip of her getting the one shot for getting the most accurate answer for the God of Music quiz. He’d captioned it to say ‘Thank you for answering SVT’s quiz, Y/N’. The post had thousands of likes already, including fellow SEVENTEEN members such as S.Coups, Seungkwan and Vernon. Her followers on Instagram had also increased, she guessed as a natural effect from this interaction. She was following Joshua already so she liked the picture and closed the app, too tired to think about her actions or do anything more.

The click clacks of her heels echoed as she walked the short distance from her cabin to the one of the Global HR Director and her line manager, David. Unlike the confident sounds of her footsteps, Y/N felt timid as she opened the door to his office once he beckoned her to come in through the glass windows of his office. David was not someone to mince his words or beat around the bush, especially as someone as busy and senior as he was in such a huge corporation.

Y/N walked out of his office thirty minutes later with relief. She’d need to talk to Sian and Emma first before she officially accepted his offer but she thought this was the best option for everyone without Y/N having to give up her career in HR completely. Her decision was solidified as she received positive response to her various promotion activities in Korea as they came out on broadcast and YouTube over the next few days. Sian and Emma began to receive interest from Korean shows and entertainment companies. The questions varied from whether she was interested in appearing on more shows to her plans on promoting in Korea and needing a local agency to support her promotions to even writing music for idol groups. Eun Ji was ecstatic at the idea of her living in Seoul and declared that Y/N would live with her. When she ran through her doubts of the move, Joshua reassured her as someone who had taken the same leap. Vernon and Seungkwan, who Y/N kept in touch with regularly since meeting them a few weeks ago, promised to visit her regularly so she wouldn’t be lonely.

By the time her slot at the Jingle Bell Ball was over a week later, Y/N felt fully confident in her decision to resign from her job in the UK and take the consultancy role. It offered her more flexibility whilst still allowing her to keep putting to use the qualification and skills she had developed over the past seven years. Her first focus would be working with regional leads in Japan and South Korea to support the planned restructures and optimise the local operations. She would be assessing the situation, proposing a solution and would oversee the implementation of it when it is accepted but won’t be the person delivering the change. She was actually excited to step out of her comfort zone and expand her experience further by dipping her toes into consultancy whilst putting to use her language skills in another country. It honestly felt like an offer too good to be true. It also gave Y/N time to prepare for her EP release that had been planned for the end of the summer and her European Tour that would kick off in the autumn of 2024. She hoped she would get lots of inspiration to write in the new environment.

Things moved quickly once she accepted David’s offer. A flat in Hannam-dong in Yongsan had been leased under her name by Emma. Whilst her company had offered to organise this for her, she had preferred to find a place that suited her specific needs and had negotiated with David so the company would contribute a fixed amount to the rent instead. David put her negotiation skills to the test but Y/N thought she handled it quite well. She had a decent deal by the end. She spent the next few weeks saying a temporary goodbye to her life in London, catching up with friends in between her end of year performance schedule. She’d gone from the one watching the countdown to NYE on BBC to the one people watched performing as the country counted down to the dawn of a new year. A few days later, she was back on a plane to Incheon, this time on her own. Emma wouldn’t be joining her in Seoul but would be making plenty of visits as needed. W Music had a partner in Seoul who would organise any assistance Y/N needed. Y/N leaned her seat back and gazed out of the window, taking a sip of the red wine the stewardess handed her earlier. She hoped 2024 would be a year to remember.

Current

Y/N had gone to bed immediately after her bath. The fight or flight response in her body had slowly disappeared until all that was left was exhaustion. She had dragged herself from the bathroom to her bedroom, not going through any of her night time routine but falling straight into bed instead. The blackout blinds in her room hid the world from her and equally hid her from the world from her. It was the Bank Holiday Monday so she had allowed herself to lie in and when she checked the digital clock on her bedside table once she arose from her deep slumber, she saw it was close to 11am. She decided it was time to face the world and couldn’t hide any longer.

“Alexa, open the blinds.” The automated blinds came to life and with a soft whirring noise, it let the sunlight into the spacious cream coloured room. Closing her eyes briefly to allow them a relief from the bright rays, she patted around the bed for her phone. When her attempts were fruitless, she sighed in defeat before getting out of bed to look around the room for it. Not seeing it anywhere, she slid her feet onto her soft slippers and moved to the living room. She had success as she found it face up on the sofa. She tapped on the screen to bring it to life but it didn’t work. Letting out a groan, realising the phone had run out of battery, she moved to the kitchen island and planted her phone on top of the wireless charger. Leaving it to collect power so she could turn it on, she used the time to make her morning smoothie.

Ten minutes later, she sat on one of the high stools by her kitchen island with a large glass of avocado and banana smoothie. She turned the phone on, making sure to keep it on the wireless charger. She saw that she had missed calls and clicked on the Phone app to see who had tried to get in touch. Some were older notifications she had dismissed like the missed calls from Sian and Emma. There were also recent missed calls from Rachel, Eun Ji and Joshua. Joshua didn’t normally call so she assumed he was concerned about her non-reply.

As she wondered if it was finally time to grow up and call Joshua, her phone began to ring. It was an unsaved number but Y/N recognised it straight away. It was an incoming call from SEVENTEEN’s main Manager, Shim Jae Hyun. He’d been the first person she’d spoken to after Seungcheol had sent her the text to break up and blocked her number immediately after. Y/N could still remember the pity in his voice as he’d told her that Seungcheol had informed him of the breakup, and had asked that Y/N not contact anyone related to himself. Y/N had responded with a distressed ‘I understand’ and had immediately cut the call.

Since then, she hadn’t spoken to anyone related to Seungcheol, including the members. Some of the members, particularly Vernon and Seungkwan, had tried to speak to her when they became aware of the break up but she’d already blocked them. The only remaining connection was Joshua and even then, she didn’t pick up or answer his calls. They hadn’t spoken since the day before the break up, when Y/N had called him from the airport to confirm she’s boarding and to ask him to check in on Seungcheol. Despite his persistent attempts, Y/N hadn’t spoken to Joshua since that day. He eventually gave up and stopped calling her and would send the occasional texts to see how she was, which she would read but not respond to. Seeing the two ticks to show she was reading it was good enough for him. It’s what he’d pleaded for her to do at the very least.

She assumed Jae Hyun-nim was calling due to the statement that had been published. She let the call go to voicemail and instead took a screenshot with his number displayed and sent it off to Emma and Sian, knowing one of them would contact him. She didn’t want to have a dialogue with PLEDIS or HYBE and Sian had stressed that everything should go through her or Emma. She put the phone back on the charging pad and returned to her room to pack her bag, knowing she had a flight to NYC that evening. Lily, Sian’s first assistant since Emma’s official promotion a year ago, had sent over the flight ticket details as well as some outfit options for Y/N to choose from her various interviews in NYC. Lily would organise it so any of the outfits Y/N selects would be delivered to the JW Marriott Essex House hotel in Upper East Side, where she would be staying this time. Normally, would have a longer visit and so would have gone for one of their long stay apartments but the impromptu plans meant she would be staying in one of Marriott’s hotels instead. The next few hours passed in a blur and Y/N found herself once again on a plane.

25 January 2024

The black Porsche Cayenne lit up as the engine turned on. The car was a Christmas present to herself and she’d be paying it off for the next few years but Y/N was in love. She loved driving and one of the first things she organised was to ship her car to Seoul as soon as she decided on her move and yet, it only arrived a few days ago. Y/N was excited to take the car for a spin, having been taking taxis whenever she needed to leave her flat. She’d spent the first week in Seoul setting up the place whilst staying with Eun Ji and had to then relearn her bearings when she officially moved in. The three weeks since landing in Seoul had been tremendously busy and Y/N was excited to have a night to relax and catch up with a friend. Joshua had returned to the country only a few days ago after wrapping up the last concert of the Follow Tour in Macau. The two had been keeping each other up to date on life but it wasn’t the same as talking in person. Their last meeting hadn’t been the personal catch up they had originally planned for so to have some time together where they could speak more openly was much needed.

Y/N arrived first at the Mexican restaurant in Itaewon and had immediately ordered some nachos for the pair to munch on whilst they caught up and debated what to order. She’d just taken a sip of her virgin Pina Colada when Joshua walked in. Y/N enveloped Joshua in a warm hug, and they stayed in the embrace for a few seconds, soaking in the comfort they gave each other. As they parted, Joshua grasped Y/N’s right hand tightly and shook it in excitement.

“I can’t believe you’re now living in Seoul!”

“Me neither, Joshie!”

He looked at her tenderly before letting go of her hand to ruffle her hair as usual. She’d given up dodging this move, knowing that it was his way of showing affection. She grinned at him, the smile stretching across her face all the way to her eyes which had shrunk to accommodate the happy expression. A waiter arrived with their nachos and the pair took their seats. Joshua ordered a Margarita. They spent the next hour catching up candidly with no inhibitions in between taking sips of their drinks and crunching on the nachos. They’d ordered more drinks and food, Y/N choosing to stay sober as she didn’t trust a stranger to drive her car. It was another thing for her to become accustomed to in time but she wasn’t quite ready for that yet.

Joshua was feeling light, having let off a load from his shoulders. He’d met Y/N at a time when he really needed a friend who was removed from his world but would yet understand his trials. They were less than six months apart in age but often, he felt she was the older one and by many years. Maybe it came from their different life journeys. They’d both had their own challenges to overcome and different demons to fight. She saw him so clearly that he often felt she was his soulmate, like a twin who shared the same heart and mind. Their closeness after such a short period led to misconceptions initially, even from his bandmates. He’d been asked if they were dating, Coups being the latest one to quiz him on this when he’d shared his plans to meet Y/N. Joshua shared this anecdote with Y/N, laughing without restraint at the idea. Y/N looked disgusted at the idea, wondering what was wrong with everyone. She begged Joshua to make sure he set everyone straight.

“Don’t worry, I told him you’re like a sister. Your bias won’t have the wrong idea, so don’t hurt your pea brain worrying.”

She glared at the teasing, huffing at the elder.

“Who’s the pea brain here! I’m not the one who mistranslated that time we were out …”

The banter continued, the two bickering away, fully immersed in their own world. It was nearing 9pm when Joshua received a call.

“Coups-yah. What’s up? Me? I’m in XXX restaurant in Itaewon with Y/N. Oh, you’re nearby?”

Joshua looked at Y/N with a sly smile as he hung up on the phone. Y/N was immediately on alert.

“What have you done, Hong Jisoo?”

“Where are your manners? It’s Jisoo Oppa!”

“Pfft. Manners, my ass. I know you’ve done something that’s about to piss me off. Out with it, Joshie. Don’t test my kindness.”

He shrugged and put on an innocent look, widening his eyes and shaking his head, saying he had no idea what she was talking about. She threw a fry at his face, unfortunately missing the mark widely. This made Joshua crack up in giggles and Y/N reluctantly joined in, unable to hold on to her irritation. Y/N was going to suggest that they call it a night and head home when the bell by the door jingled. Joshua, who was facing the door, stuck his neck out to see who it was and his eyes lit up in recognition. He waved his hand at the newcomer and Y/N twisted in her seat to see who it was. It was S.Coups and with him was Jeonghan.

“Did you miss me that much? You saw me only a few hours ago when we did the Weverse live.”

Joshua said to S.Coups as the 95 liners reunited in front of Y/N. The waitress arrived and relocated them to a bigger table at the back, hiding them away from the rest of the customers. As they all took their new seats, Y/N bowed at Jeonghan and S.Coups and greeted them. She asked after their health and asked if they’d eaten. S.Coups, who was sitting opposite her, nodded whilst Jeonghan responded, “Coups bought me an expensive dinner. I wanted to go home and rest afterwards but this guy-”

Before Jeonghan could finish his sentence, S.Coups began speaking. He asked about her move and if she was properly settled in her flat.

Y/N was surprised he knew the details and it must have shown on her face, as he felt the need to clarify that he’d heard from Shua. When she looked at Joshua, he had a devious smirk on his face.

“I didn’t know you paid so much attention to what I say, Coups-yah. Jeonghan-ah, did you know Coups paid this much attention to me?”

Jeonghan, who suddenly looked wide awake, seemed to have caught on to whatever track Joshua was on and enthusiastically exclaimed, “I didn’t know either, Joshuji. I don’t remember you telling us about Y/N’s move and this is my first time seeing you since you came back.”

Turning to his left, he questioned when S.Coups had heard the news. Y/N was a little perplexed about this entire conversation. She didn’t understand why it was such a big deal but she did realise that the angel, who was really a devil in disguise when he was up to his tricks, and his best friend were on the same page and up to something. It seemed that S.Coups had also sensed the danger and looked panic for a second before saying that it might have been Vernon who mentioned it, he couldn’t remember.

Feeling sorry for the man in front of her as he pouted, she decided to answer his question to move the conversation along.

“I’ve just about settled in and I was saying to Josh earlier that my car finally arrived so I feel like I’m finally set. I’m about to abandon all of it for two weeks though. I’ll be in Japan travelling to Tokyo, Sapporo and Okinawa for work from Monday onwards.”

S.Coups nodded again at her and gave her a thousand watts thankful smile. Y/N felt her heart stutter like her old car used to whenever she’d try to speed and the sem-automatic would whine as it stayed stuck in the lower gear. His smile was too blinding and Y/N had to avert her gaze to her glass, fiddling with the stem of it as she tried her best to calm the flutters.

“Oh, you didn’t tell me you were flying out so soon! We’re on holiday for the next few weeks so I thought I could show you all my favourite places.”

Joshua was disappointed at the missed opportunity. Y/N reassured him they had plenty of time and that she’d be back on the 10th. The group enjoyed a few more drinks and Y/N slowly loosened up as she got used to the presence of the others. She didn’t see Joshua as a member of SEVENTEEN on most days. To her, he’d become family and so she didn’t get the nervousness that she got in the presence of the rest of the members. Yoon Jeonghan was too beautiful to be real and it was intimidating.

And then there was S.Coups. Well, no explanation was really needed here. This was someone she admired and found attractive. It was just a celebrity crush, she’d thought. Although she had her head screwed on and knew what she saw wasn’t a full picture of any celebrity, with S.Coups, so much of it was real. She’d gotten to know him through Joshua and the couple of interactions they did have, she’d felt sparks. She knew it was all one-sided and with time, she’d get over it. But right now, she couldn’t be sensible about it. It was the way he would stare deeply into her eyes when she spoke giving his full attention, or the way he’d poured her a glass of water when he noticed her glass was empty, or even how the corners of his mouth would twitch in amusement whenever he caught her sneaking glances at him as Jeonghan told a funny story. She was deeply attracted to the man in front of her. His tight black t-shirt and rich perfume pulled her in. When she caught herself leaning forward one too many times, she knew it was time to go home. She pulled the typical I’m-going-to-freshen-up-but-really-pay-the-bill act and found herself scolded by a whiny Joshua as they all walked her to her car.

She saw the tired, droopy frame of Jeonghan and told them all to get in, saying she’d drop them off. They tried to refuse the offer but Jeonghan must have been really tired because he got in quickly after thanking Y/N. Joshua sat upfront and inputted the address for the dorm.

“Coups-yah, are you going to stay at the dorm tonight?”

It took a beat for S.Coups to answer and the others realised he’d wanted to return to the place he shared with his brother. He said he’d call a taxi from the dorm.

“I can drop you off, I really don’t mind.”

Y/N turned into the apartment complex that housed SEVENTEEN members. Joshua and Jeonghan got out of the car and S.Coups followed. He seemed to have a non-verbal conversation with Joshua before he turned back to Y/N and asked if she was sure. She nodded and smiled gently in response.

He lightly hugged the members goodnight before getting back in the car, this time in the front seat. Joshua called out for her to text him when she got home safely and then headed in.

“And then there were two.”

“Sorry?”

“Oh, sorry. It’s a phrase in English that people would usually say when a big group would suddenly get smaller.”

She explained as she manoeuvred out of her parking spot. She pulled off and started driving towards the main road as S.Coups set the navigation to direct her to his brother’s place. It was a 20 minute drive and Y/N told herself she can behave for that long. They drove in silence that had started off comfortable but soon became filled with tension till it was stifling. She cleared her throat and suggested that S.Coups put on music if he’d like.

“You can turn on the radio or you can use my Spotify. My phone is connected via Bluetooth.”

She quickly unlocked it with her fingerprint and gestured for him to take it. He’d looked slightly stunned at her nonchalance as she gave him access to her phone. He timidly took the phone from the stand it was resting on and scrolled through the app. In the meantime, it began to play from where she’d left off earlier. Red Velvet described the throes of a crush and the longing to greet them again through the song ‘Hello, Sunset’ and Y/N blushed as she listened on. How fitting that this is the song that plays, she thought. She saw him tap along to the music as he scrolled through her phone. Their journey was elongating thanks to the traffic that was building up as the Saturday night deepened. As the song drew to a close, he tapped on the song he’d searched for and Dino’s voice blasted through the speakers. How cute, she thought as she realised he’d chosen to listen to the maknae’s mixtape, ‘Wait’. He bobbed his head along as they listened. The car had come to a standstill in front of the traffic.

“I really love this song.”

“Yes, maknae did a good job.” The pride in his voice was clear. She hummed in agreement.

“I’m sorry. Because of me, you’re delayed.”

He apologised suddenly and Y/N found herself lost in his intense stare again when she'd looked at him to respond. She inaudibly mumbled that it wasn’t a problem and that she’s going the same way. It was as if her ears had popped, all noise surrounding them dampened whilst the sound of her heartbeat grew thunderous. She couldn’t even blink, worried he’d disappear if she closed her eyes for a second. He lowered his eyes, breaking the hold on her briefly as they dipped down to her lips before returning to arrest her again. He held her breath as a prisoner. Was she imagining it or was the distance between them slowly narrowing? She had no thoughts. Her brain simply wasn’t functioning to think if this was a good idea or not. Their noses were nearly brushing when they jumped apart when the car behind honked its horn. Y/N realised the queue had eased and quickly put the car in motion. S.Coups turned to look outside the side window, his expression hidden from Y/N when she tried to take a glimpse.

They arrived at S.Coups’ place a few minutes later. Tablo’s version of ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips’ played in the background as both occupants of the car stalled, not sure whether to mention the moment shared earlier. In the end, both had decided to ignore it. S.Coups thanked Y/N for the lift. He’d gotten out of the car and walked around to her side, leaning down to speak to her. A breeze sent her a whiff of his perfume again.

“Well … thanks again.” Y/N smiled but didn’t say anything.

“I should get going. I mean, you should get going. It’s late.”

She nodded and bowed at him to take leave from the driver’s seat. She was about to roll up her windows when he called her name. With no formalities. The butterflies instantly multiplied.

“Y/N. Text me to say you’ve made it home?” It was a question but it wasn’t. She nodded, slowly then quickly.

“I saved my number on your phone. I, uh, I didn’t send myself your number.”

Who was this shy man? Was he the same person with the deep voice and passionate eyes?

“Sleep well.”

Y/N placed her keys in the enamel dish by the entrance, took off her boots and walked to her room. She texted Joshua to confirm she’d made it and wished him a goodnight. She paused for a second before she searched through her contacts. She found the newly saved number under Coups.

Saturday 27 January Hi, it’s Y/N. I made it home safely. Have a good night. 23:20 Goodnight. 23:21

A week later, Y/N was getting ready for her first date with S.Coups.

☆彡 BLUE-JISUNGS' 2ND ANNIVERSARY ! ★彡

4/03/2022. that’s when a certain silly girl decided to post her first work to a new platform. that silly girl is axe and a new platform (for her) is tumblr. 2 years passed so so quickly i don’t even know how?? thank you all for being here for me and supporting my work, it means so much to me!!

to celebrate this, i decided to make an event!! it’s nothing too fancy but i hope you’ll enjoy it: seventeen members as dpr ian and dpr live (dabin) songs! ofc i wouldn’t be myself if there wasn’t a little twist~~ here’s the deal: i’ll post titles of songs so far, you don’t know which member it is unless posted AND within each fic there’s a spoiler who’s gonna be next !! the range is 500-4k words for some of them, there is a variety of genres so i hope everyone will find something to enjoy. also, i made most of the banners myself — however id like to thank @slytherinshua , @eternalgyuuu and @l3visbby for your help with some of them !!

SEUNGCHEOL - hands on you during conversations: "what? i can't hear you!" you yell, waving a hand around your ears. with the pulsating music, strobing lights, and writhing bodies, the middle of a dance floor isn't the best place to talk, but seungcheol seems determined to tell you something. he curls a hand around the back of your neck and pulls you close, mouth against your ear as he asks if you want to take a break because the others are pausing for shots. you nod and let him lead you by the hand towards the private corner where mingyu already has glasses ready for everyone. jeonghan gestures to the empty space next to him, and seungcheol puts an arm around his friend's waist, leaning in to hear jeonghan's ramblings. something about judging a dance battle between seokmin and seungkwan happening later — even though you're far from the speakers, it's still hard to hear everyone. it's cute how furrowed seungcheol's brows are as he concentrates on hearing what everyone has to say to him.

JEONGHAN - plays with slime: (my notes say gose 2021 ep 14) there's a new package in the mail — your address but jeonghan's name. when you text him about it, he calls you immediately, telling you not to open it and that he's on the way. "it's a surprise for both of us," he replies cheekily once you ask what it is. of the things you thought it could be, slime was not on your list at all, but he tears the box open and produces four different colors of slime and lets you take your pick. he clears your coffee table and sits on the ground, knee bumping against yours, as he gets ready to do an unboxing video for his fans. you know the trend where it's like tell me your boyfriend won't cheat on you without telling me your boyfriend won't cheat on you? literally him because he's strangely excited about playing with slime and checking in on you, asking for your opinion on the color and texture and everything he can fill the air with.

JIHOON - this shit talks while you game: i keep making y/n a gamer, (sorry for the self insert), but jihoon is such a trash talker and genuinely enjoys teasing others even when he's not even playing. you're competing against joshua, seokmin, and mingyu in smash bros because they thought 3am on a friday was a good time for a tournament. jihoon sits next to you, arm curled around your back, but he leans to the side to taunt his friends. it's honestly a little distracting since he's right next to you, but whenever you knock them into the air, he gives a happy squeal and laugh, giving you a congratulatory squeeze. try as you might, you can't get mad at that. a smile tugs at your lips as you glance over and see his eyes scrunched in delight. once you win, he probably gloats in the others' faces, only quieting down and brushing things off when joshua tells you to hand the controller over to jihoon — see how bratty he is when he gets his ass wiped.

SEUNGKWAN - whines when scared: honestly, the most baby of the maknae line. he acts confident and exasperated all the time, but the baby voice slips out at the slightest provocation and you know this. so why are you hiding behind the stack of practice room mats with mingyu and soonyoung, stifling giggles with your fists and shushing each other? a jittery silence falls over the three of you as seungkwan shuffles in and pauses at the pitch black. "...hello?" he calls out hesitantly. already, there's a hint of a pout in his tone. he clutches his phone to his chest, shuffling towards the light switch. "mingyu...?" no one answers. seokmin readies his own phone to blast music on the bluetooth speakers as soon as the lights turn on. "tsk, can't believe it. how is that guy going to call me out here and not even show — oh my GOD." he startles, arms raised to block something, and when he sees the culprits, his pout settles in for real. you're biting back a smile and the urge to call him cute.

I started this series because I was going through something that was mentally draining and challenging for me. I’m happy to say that because I’ve received so much support and love from my readers, days have been easier for me to overcome. I sincerely love and appreciate all of you with my whole heart — especially to my first anon and public supporter Bluey 💙 who I’ve grown close to personally!

It’s sad to say, but I won’t be doing a sequel for this series (though I’ll post an epilogue!). I’ve decided that in fact, I won’t be doing sequels for any series that I make. So, let’s try to move on to a fresh start!

They say Christmas is the most magical time of year. The snow falling acts as a beautiful scenery for pictures with your loved ones, Christmas dinners allow you to spend time with family and friends, and the music and gifts all symbols of the love you have for each other. Christmas is the one day a year where you forget everything, all your struggles and worries are out the window as you spend time with the ones you love.

Unfortunately for you, you weren’t one of those lucky souls.

“Y-you’re breaking up with me?”

“I’m sorry, y/n. Things were just getting boring between us. Besides, Haesul is-“

The tears threatening to spill suddenly haulted at that. Your eyes snapping up to stare at the man in front of you, “Haesul? The same girl who you said was just a friend?”

Your now ex shifted in his seat, eyes drifting to look outside the window instead of at you. His hands fiddled with the spoon in his empty bowl, the metal clinking against the glass. Oh, you understood now.

You folded your arms against your chest. “She was never just a friend, was she?” The man bit his lip, shaking his head. He opened his mouth to speak, but God forbid would you sit here and listen to anymore of his lies.

“Just leave, Seojoon. You don’t have anything to explain to me, we broke up, remember?” And at that, the raven haired man stood up, slipping his jacket over his shoulders, leaving without a single trace but the couples bracelet you two wore that now sat on the café table.

You let out a shaky sigh, propping your arms on the table, hiding your face in your hands. You sat there for a solid 10 minutes, soaking in what just happened. Your boyfriend, of 2 years, broke up with you over a woman he claimed was just a friend. The day before Christmas for Gods sake. You groaned into your hands, probably receiving weird looks from the customers around you. Not that you cared, the only thing on your mind was the prick you unfortunately spent two long years- time you can’t get back.

Sure he wasn’t the best boyfriend, let alone man, but he at least made you feel wanted. When you were stressed from work or class, he always found a way to take your mind off it- need be it was typically through going clubbing (something you weren’t fond of but did it anyways). You couldn’t say you’ll miss him as your boyfriend, but you’ll miss the feeling of having someone. Your own person who you know will love you and be there for you through anything. Now who do you have?

You weren’t ready to go home, then you’d face the reality of the fact you’ll be spending Christmas alone this year. Your family lived in the states and your friends were too busy with their own significant others. Not that you need a new partner or even just a one night stand, but you could use somebody to be free with, to be happy and careless all at the same time.

“Hi, do you mind if I sit here? You seemed pretty glum and I’m kind of by myself too, haha”

You lifted your head, hair falling in front of your eyes. Moving your hair away from your face, your vision cleared to see a good-looking, young man in front of you. He resembled a cat the way his eyes were sharp and looking into your own. Though his smile had a whole different vibe, his teeth looking like that of a rabbit. Your heart started beating just a little faster at the looks of the man, he truly was someone you would fall in love with at first sight.

Finally clicking that he asked you a question, you quickly formed incoherent words, “u-uhm yeah go ahead.” Really y/n? Smooth.

The mans smile widened, his head nodding in appreciation as he moved to sit in front of you. The male leaned forward, sitting just a little closer to you instead of leaving an awkward space. You quickly reached across the table, moving the dirty bowl and silverware that sat in front of him. He seemed pleased, offering a quiet thank you.

“I’m Joshua! But you can call me Josh, or Shua”

You smiled for the first time since you had been left alone in the café, “I’m y/n”. Joshua grinned, eyes crinkling at the corners. Cute. “Nice to meet you, y/n. I’m sorry I just kind of shoved my way over here”. You waved your hand out, the smile not leaving your face, “no it’s okay, truth be told I was kind of alone too” Joshua’s smile faltered a bit, his head tilting to the side a bit, “may I ask why? You don’t have to tell me of course!”

Meh fuck it.

“Myyy boyfriend, well now ex, just dumped me. Like 10 minutes before you got here” you weakly smiled, though it probably looked a little frightening in his pov. His eyes widened, his mouth opening then closing, “oh shit, wow, I’m so sorry y/n. That’s kind of a dick move of him to do it right before Christmas” Joshua swore at himself, seriously Josh? Way to overstep your boundaries.

You laughed, agreeing with the boy. “It was a dick move, huh? And the worst part-“ Josh leaned it, a huh leaving his lips, “it was because of a bitch he swore was just his friend” The raven haired man oohed, his face wincing at your words.

“What a classic douchebag move, wow. I’m sure he doesn’t deserve you, y/n. You seem like a great person” you blushed at that, face heating up at his remark. Stuttering over your words, you went with just smiling and looking away towards the waitress who was coming your way.

The blonde woman stood in front of your table, asking if there was anything she could get you or the cheesy man in front of you.

“What are your best Christmas drinks right now?”

The waitress pondered, looking at her notepad, “well we have peppermint egg nog, those are pretty good if you’re into mint. We also have double chocolate hot chocolate, which is basically chocolate milk hot cocoa instead of white milk”

Joshua took notice of the way your eyes lit up when she said chocolate, smoothly telling the waitress he’d like two double hot chocolates. You glanced at Josh in confusion, “two?” The male nodded his head, folding his arms in front of him.

“Mhm. I saw your face when she brought up chocolate, so I went on a whim and figured you’d like one too”

Is this an angel Gods sent your way in remorse of the way your poor, sad excuse of life has turned out?

The double hot chocolate was now your favorite drink, you ending up drinking both yours and Josh’s (he didn’t like the sweetness). The sun had started setting, meaning the café was going to be closing soon. The last 2 hours were spent bullshitting with the newfound friend in front of you, your mind completely forgetting the fact you had been dumped and Christmas was indeed tomorrow.

Josh kept you distracted, his witty jokes making you laugh and forget all your problems, all while his pretty face kept your attention on him. You could say you definitely weren’t ready to leave the café. Leave Josh. Do you ask him for his number? Is that creepy? I mean you’ve only known him for 2 hours, he’s still a stranger, and you were always told stranger danger. But damn, if every stranger looked and acted like Joshua, then danger was your middle name.

“This might be a little weird, but could I have your number? I swear I’m not trying to have sex with you, I know you’re literally just going through a breakup.”

Oh, well that solves that problem.

You laughed, already passing your phone to the stuttering man. He thanked you, sending you a message to let you know it’s him. Your phone dinged, signifying you for his text.

From: stranger from café

This is Josh! :)

You smiled at his choice of name, mumbling a cute to yourself. Unbeknownst to you, the smug male in front of you heard the comment, his cheeks turning a shade of pink.

That night after you had returned back to your quaint apartment downtown, you quickly shot Josh a text. Eagerly waiting for his response, you distracted yourself by making your favorite Christmas dish in the meantime.

The sound of your phone dinging in the living room caused you to stop in your tracks. You quickly tossed the oven kits on the counter and ran to check your phone. Why were you so excited, you just met him today?? Huffing, you unlocked your phone, your gaze immediately landing upon your text messages. His contact name popped up, following with a line of messages he responded with. You read through the messages, your eyes bulging at the last one:

From: stranger from café

Would you wanna spend Christmas with me and my friends tomorrow?

Your heart started beating fast, fingers quickly typing an

“Id love to” in response.

You were ready to get no sleep tonight.

Morning came faster than you anticipated, not that you could complain- it was Christmas! Though more importantly, you get to spend it with the cute stranger you met at the café.

You raise yourself from the comforts of your bed, vision still blurry from sleep. Normally you’d stay in bed, wake up whenever Seojoon decides he wants to be up, and do nothing but sleep and watch movies all day- not the most extravagant way to spend Christmas. Today was a change of pace, and whether the urge to vomit was excitement or nervousness you’ll never know. You yawned, stretching your arms over your head, before standing up out of bed and beginning to get ready.

After the process of fixing yourself up enough to not look like a gremlin, you were finally on your way to Joshua’s house. Your palms were sweaty as you knocked on his door, nerves running through your body. “Just be cool, y/n. He’s just a cute guy you met at the café and just happen to maybe think it was love at first sight, no biggie. Confidence bitch, confidence!”

“Did you just call yourself a bitch?” Your head popped up at the sudden voice, eyes locking with said cute guy. You chuckled nervously, muttering a no. Joshua ignored your nervousness, laughing instead and inviting you inside.

As soon as you entered the apartment, your nose was immediately met with the smell of honey glazed ham and freshly made bread. You followed Josh to where you were assuming is the kitchen, eyes mindlessly lookijg around his place. “Mingyu, this is y/n!” You softly smiled, waving at the tall brunette in front of you.

Mingyu walked over, wiping his hands on the apron he wore around his waist,

“Hi I’m Mingyu! I mean you kinda already know that cause he already said it, haha” you giggled, responding with an it’s okay as he smiled at you. You looked behind Mingyu, seeing the cause of the strong food smell when you entered. Your eyes widened, mouth opening just a tad, “holy shit, did you make all this?”

Mingyu‘a cheeks grew pink, eyes twinkling in happiness as he nodded his head in confirmation. You stood in awe, there must have been food to feed at least 20 people here, how did one man make all this? You looked back at the blushing man who’s hands were behind his back as he swayed side to side, “wow I can’t wait to try everything, it looks really good, Mingyu!”

Mingyu’s chest puffed, his cheeks becoming even redder than before. Oh my God he’s like a puppy, you thought.

“Josh I love her already, please keep her around”

Now you were the blushing fool, thanking Mingyu. Meanwhile Josh stood there watching the exchange, happy to see his friends were getting along. He smiled at Mingyus comment, “that’s the plan, Gyu”.

Josh continued to show you around his place, introducing you to his friends along the way. It was then you later realized why Mingyu had made so much food. Each of the boys seemed insanely sweet, some hyper and loud, but sweet nonetheless. You understood why Josh was friends with them, you would be too.

The two of you had made you way to the living room with everyone else, making small talk (or in this case loud talk because holy shit, 13 guys in one room is chaos) with the boys. You had gained a liking towards the youngest, maybe it’s because you were closer in age, but he was probably your favorite so far- other than the cute man-puppy you met earlier, of course.

“Let’s play a game!” The one you presumed to be Seungkwan suddenly announced, moving to stand on his knees.

Agreements were heard around the room, including you and Joshua. Seungkwan began to explain the rules to the best of his ability, separating everyone into teams of 2. Lucky for you, you really hoped at least because your competitiveness was no joke, you were paired with the raven haired boy.

The point of the game was simple: you and your partner were to complete each mission successfully, all while trying to be the first to complete it. Whoever finishes first the most amount of times, wins the game.

Let the games begin

“Oh my God again??!”

You fell to the ground hand cupping your mouth, tears threatening to spill as Joshua stood on the other side of you, laughing his ass off at his members' yell of frustration.

“I mean seriously people?! This is the 4th game you’ve won in a row!!” Chan’s cries were as loud as the music blasting over the tv’s speakers, his body crouched on the ground while his hands ruffled his dirty blonde hair in frustration.

You grabbed the towel on the table next to you, wiping the vaseline from your face as you stood up.

“Okay I think we have a clear winner- team cat eyes wins!” Seungkwans announcement caused you and Josh to scream victory, arms clinging around one another as you jump around. The rest of the boys watched, sourness from losing etched over their faces- especially the poor maknae who was currently having a mental breakdown on the plush carpeting.

Josh unwrapped his arms from your shoulders, stepping back to stand by your side. You could feel the sweat drip down the back of your neck, body completely exhausted from the last 2 hours of playing against the 13 competitive boys. The stickiness of the Vaseline was still evident on your cheeks, the makeup you had thrown on in the morning completely melted off. You patted Joshua’s shoulder, him turning his head to look at you, “where’s the bathroom? I’ve gotta get this Vaseline off”

“Ah it’s right down the hall, I’ll show you!”

Joshua smiled, heavy breaths leaving his mouth as he guided you. He flicked on the switch, the overhead light lighting up the bathroom with a soft orange glow. You thanked him, sitting on the counter as went to grab you a towel.

“Here ya go” he passed you the towel, going to sit on the bathtub next to the sink. You ran the towel under the faucet before beginning to wipe away the gunk that was sticky on your skin. Josh tapped his fingers on the tub, propping his feet against the side, “the guys love you”

You glanced over at him in the mirror, rinsing the towel before continuing to wipe your face, “what can I say, guess I’m loveable” Joshua laughed, his face scrunching up forming whisker-like lines next to his nose. “I can’t say I disagree.”

Your face was warm, and not just from the constant rubbing of the harsh towel. Joshua’s words had no intent other than pure friendliness- you knew this; but you couldn’t help the pink that spread against your cheeks. You suddenly forget that you’ve know the boy on the tub for a short 24 hours, your brain already working so many future scenarios that involve him.

You simply shook your head, a soft smile appearing on your face. You placed the now dirty towel next to the sink, turning to face Josh. “Ready to re-join the circus?” The man snorted, nodding his head, as you both exited the bathroom.

It was nearing midnight, meaning your Christmas festivities were coming to an end. The boys had left about an hour ago, leaving just you and Josh.

The sky was a dark grey, the streetlights highlighting the area with specs of white as the final Christmas snow fell. The coat Josh let you borrow was keeping you warm, but the boy currently huddled against your side made you content. Your hands were covered in a thin pair of white gloves, a to-go cup of cocoa from the same café you met Josh at currently being coddled in between your hands.

You looked over at Joshua, his face settled in a small smile as he watched the cars below pass by. His fringe was sprawled flat against his forehead, the cream colored beanie he wore covering the rest. You scooted closer against the male, his head turning down to look at you. Your head nuzzled against his shoulder, face being squished against his puffy coat.

“I’m really glad you came, y/n”

Joshua’s voice was gentle, his own gloved hands reaching up from its previous spot behind your back, fingers lightly moving your hair behind your ear. His hand cupped your cheek, constellation filled eyes looking into your own, “Would you hold it against me if I kissed you right now?”

You leaned forward, softly placing your lips against Joshua’s. Your noses pressed together as he moved his lips back against your own, soft breaths slipping through the small gaps. Your lips slowly detached, a thin layer of saliva the only thing keeping them together as you rested your forehead against his. “I think that was an answer, what do you think?”

Joshua smiled, “I think I’m gonna need a more solid yes or no”

“Oh yeah?” You grinned back, your lips already going to press on his own, his hands pressing against the small of your back. He pulled back, a soft pop sounding in the air from the disappearance of your lips against his.

“Ah see now I understand, thanks for clarifying”

You laughed, head leaning back while Joshua watched, his own laughs leaving his throat. A sudden gust of wind blew across the rooftop, your hair flying against your face. Joshua shivered, hands pulling you up from your spot as he stood up, “Wanna head inside? I have a soft bed and warm clothes with your name on it.”

“Does the soft bed come with a cute, shivering boy?”

Josh snorted, kissing your forehead before tugging you along with him towards the rooftop door, “the cute shivering boy goes wherever his adorable, shaking girl is”

True to his word, the change of clothes Josh let you wear were indeed warm. The clothes smelt of light cologne, the old UCLA sweatshirt long against your body, sleeves falling to the middle of your palm.

You currently sat against his beds headboard, Santa Clause playing on his tv. Layers of fuzzy blankets were covering your lower body, pillows propped against your back. The Christmas lights you found in the corner of his closet were currently strung against his walls, you insisting that you put them up.

The sounds of the movie were faded in the background, yours and Joshua’s laughter much louder in comparison. Pieces of cheddar popcorn were scattered on the bed and floor due to the failed attempts of tossing them into each other’s mouths.

“I think-“ you laughed, “I think this is the most amount of fun I’ve had on Christmas ever- actually scratch that, that I’ve ever had in general”

Joshua smiled, his hand pulling you tighter against him, “and I think I have to agree”

“Okay but You is actually a really fucking messed up show, like god damn. How can people actually feel bad for the main character?”

“If you’re a white man, you can get away with anything in America.”

“Or if you’re just a man in general.”

“Straight facts-”

“Guys we can continue this informative conversation later, Soo-ah just walked in.” Minghao mutters quietly into his mic, peeking underneath his cap to see the twin walk into the cafe, dressed in more formal attire than he would’ve expected for a simple meet-up.

“Maybe she thought it was a date based on her clothing choice.” Jihoon comments, pulling his mask down to take a sip of his tea as he watches Soo-ah walk over to where you and Joshua are seated. He takes note of the way you noticeably tense up when you look up at her.

“Mingyu, Soonyoung, make sure to listen to what they’re saying.” Minghao says, glancing up at the two who are sitting in the booth behind Joshua, yn, and Soo-ah. Mingyu nods his head, taking a bite of his croissant.

“Hi Soo-ah.” Joshua greets, giving her a small smile as he outstretches his hand to her. She smiles, grasping his hand and shaking it.

“Hi Joshua, yn.” Soo-ah says your name more coldly, but you’re the only one able to notice it. You give her a nod in greeting as she sits in the seat across from Joshua.

“Well first, here.” Joshua hands Soo-ah your hair pin, and you almost wanna reach out and take it from his hands, but instead you pick up your hot chocolate and take a sip. Soo-ah shoots a glance your way, before taking it from his hand and smiling.

“Thank you so much.” Joshua nods, taking a bite of your cake pop. You turn to him and widen your eyes, making him giggle.

“What?”

“That was my cake pop!”

“And? I paid for it.” Joshua responds and you glare at him, muttering a quiet, “you should’ve just ordered one if you really wanted it.”

Looking away from Joshua, you see Soo-ah glaring at you, and you shrink back in your seat. You forgot that this whole meeting was to make sure Joshua and Soo-ah hit it off and start dating, not for you and Joshua to bond.

“You see Soo-ah glaring at yn?” Jihoon asks Minghao, raising an eyebrow once Soo-ah completely changes her expression once Joshua turns to look at her. Minghao nods, watching you shrink back into your seat once Joshua and Soo-ah start talking.

“What are they saying Hoshi?”

“They’re talking about why she kept it a secret.”

“I just, I was so nervous you know? I’ve had a crush on you for a while.” Soo-ah admits, making you choke on your cake pop and Joshua to spit out his coffee back into his cup. Soo-ah kicks you under the table as a warning, and you bite the inside of your cheek, trying to hold back the rest of your coughs.

“Holy shit.” Mingyu whispers, looking at Soonyoung with wide eyes.

“What?” Minghao asks, feeling worried at you and Joshua’s reactions. Jihoon sees Soo-ah kick you under the table, watching you rub your leg shortly afterwards.

“She just told Joshua she likes him.” Now it’s Jihoon and Minghao’s turn to choke on their food.

“She what?”

“You what?” Joshua asks after wiping his mouth with the napkin, and Soo-ah tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. She gives him a shy smile, making Jihoon scowl.

“I’ve always thought you were really cool, I think you’re really cute and a great singer. I thought the best opportunity to get to know you would be at the ball. I wanted to keep my identity a secret though, so that’s why I ran away. I just wanted one night with you.” Soo-ah tells him, and you feel anger and sadness flow through you at the fact that you can’t say anything.

“Oh.” Joshua mutters softly, turning to glance at you to gauge your reaction. You keep your eyes down at your hot chocolate, not wanting to look up in fear that you might start crying.

“Did you know this yn?” He asks you, and you bite your lip before responding, “Yeah. I did, we had a plan for you two to start talking.”

Joshua nods, somehow looking a bit disappointed.

“That sounds like a bunch of bullshit.” Jihoon states once Soonyoung finishes relaying what just occurred at their table. Minghao nods his head in agreement, already having a bad feeling about Soo-ah just by the way she’s keeping her eye on you.

“You don’t have to return my feelings, I just thought you should know the truth.” Soo-ah reassures Joshua, raising her hands up with a nervous smile. She takes a sip of her cappuccino, feeling giddy at the prospect of her and Joshua potentially dating.

“It’s not that I don’t like you,” Joshua starts, and you feel your heart sink. “I just met you ya know? So I can’t say I have feelings for you.”

“I understand. We can go on a date to get to know each other then if you’re interested? Just us?” Soo-ah suggests, and you feel your heart sink even more.

“Soo-ah just asked Joshua on a date.” Soonyoung says into his mic, causing Minghao’s leg to start bobbing up and down in anxiousness. He watches the way you slouch even more, having stayed relatively silent since Soo-ah shot a glare at you.

Joshua turns to look at you, noticing the way you’re looking at everything but him. He likes you, he likes you a lot, but he knows you just see him as a friend considering the fact that you’re setting him up with your best friend. Soo-ah is pretty, she seems nice, why not give it a try? He thinks to himself.

“Sure, we can go on a date.” Joshua answers after a minute, and you close your eyes, standing up abruptly from your seat. Minghao and Jihoon’s eyes widen at you, watching you mumble something before turning around and walking out the door.

“Yn!”

“Why did she leave? What did she say?” Minghao asks hurriedly into the mic as he notices Joshua stand up to run after you. Only for Soo-ah to stand up and give Joshua a smile, saying something before patting his hand and following you out. Joshua runs a hand through his hair, sitting back down in his seat, feeling somehow defeated.

“Joshua said yes to the date, and yn said she’s having bad cramps so she’s going home early.” Mingyu answers, seeing Soo-ah rush out the door after telling Joshua she’ll text him.

“I’m gonna go after them.” Jihoon says, getting up from their table and heading after Soo-ah before he can lose them both. “I will too.” Soonyoung says, getting out of the booth to go with Jihoon.

“Tell us what happens.” Minghao reminds them, before hanging up his phone and taking out his airpods. He lets out a small sigh, pulling his mask up over his face. He looks over at Mingyu to see him pointing at another figure walking out of the busy cafe at a brisk pace, and his eyes widen once he recognizes the long brown hair. Minghao turns to Mingyu, mouthing the name,

Eunha.

“Yn! Yn, stop fucking walking away.” Soo-ah commands, reaching out and grabbing your wrist. You try to fling your wrist out in an attempt to break Soo-ah’s grip, but to no avail. You stare at Soo-ah with fresh tears running down your face, feeling angry and heartbroken.

Jihoon grabs Soonyoung’s hand, pulling him behind the car so they won’t get spotted. They stare over the hood, watching you and Soo-ah converse angrily.

“Let go of me, I already did what you asked.” You mumble, rubbing your tears away with the back of your hand. Soo-ah scoffs, rolling her eyes, “You shouldn’t have even come if you were gonna react like this.”

“You know I didn’t do this for me!” You respond, glaring at the ground instead of looking at Soo-ah. Jihoon squints his eyes at the sight of you crying, wondering why Soo-ah followed you out.

“I only followed you to give this back to you, you’re lucky I didn’t throw it away instead. Even though I should’ve after the shit you pulled at the ball. If you’re going to go behind my back then you shouldn’t wear your fucking hairpin.” Soo-ah hisses, placing the delicate heirloom harshly into your hand. Soonyoung lets out a small gasp, and Jihoon’s mouth drops open once the words are spoken.

“Find your own ride home, I don’t fucking care. Just don’t get in between us, you know what will happen if you do.” Soo-ah gives you a sinister smile, before turning around and walking away from you. You feel a small sob leave your lips once she turns the corner, and you fall into a squat as you start crying in the middle of the sidewalk.

Soonyoung’s busy texting the group chat of what just happened, and Jihoon is just staring at you, wanting to go out and give you comfort, but he knows he can’t do that. Instead, he looks down at his phone to text the groupchat.

“Let’s go find Hao and Mingyu, they said they’re talking to Eunha.” Jihoon mutters after he texts the groupchat. Soonyoung looks over at you, seeing you still in the same position crying into your arms.

“Let’s go.” Jihoon says again, and Soonyoung regretfully nods, both of them standing up from their hiding position to head over to their friends.

I saw you wanted more platonic prompts so can I request this prompt I saw and thought was cute and it could be applied here: svt celebrating their first holiday (whichever you want) with yn, who could be a new manager or staff member, and they just wanted to make a nice 1st holiday with their newest (and all other) staff member. you're a new manager, and even though you've had some experience in the field, you seriously underestimated how difficult it would be taking care of a thirteen member group. they're good kids, even if ordering lunch is a half hour ordeal and mingyu's always testing your patience because you keep losing him. all the tiredness is worth it, though. you can see why the staff love working with them, and whenever you get dropped off home by your fellow manager, you're already looking forward to the next day's adventure.

as soon as he's off-stage, he runs over and hugs you first. you're often the manager who volunteers to stay after as he goes through the performance one last time…which turns into two or five times. he was always apologetic, but you're just glad to see that all of his hard work paid off:

next thing you know, you're all crowded around a table with drinks in hand. he pulls you to your feet and swings an arm around your shoulders. "to our managers!" he yells out, the table erupting into cheers. he offers to do a love shot with you, and with a roll of your eyes, you agree:

this is hardly their first win, but you find him marveling over the award in the break room anyway, turning it around in his hands with a fond smile. you manage to snap a few candid photos that you'll fire off to the group's pr person. you kind of think he's sweet…until he asks if you're treating them to dinner. the answer is yes. on the company's card:

you're actually in the bathroom when they announce the winners lol horrible timing, but it doesn't matter. he texted in the group chat as soon as he couldn't find you backstage. since it's your first win with them, he makes you take some pictures with the award and send it to your family, embarrassingly enough:
