The Definition of Life

Fandoms: Person of Interest, The Good Place Summary: If the Judge thought the Afterlife was done with overhauls, she was sorely mistaken. Enter Root.

“Tahani, this is Root.”

Tahani takes in the woman standing beside Vicky: heeled boots that can at best be called “sensible,” tight black jeans, and a leather jacket that is stylish enough to overcome the “THEY EXIST” UFO t-shirt hiding beneath. Then she looks Root in the eye to find an unsettling, piercing gaze that would have had her balking if she hadn’t been used to the same from her good friend Aubrey Plaza.

Vicky continues, “Root has been ‘enjoying’ the hospitality of the Bad Place for three Jeremy Bearimy’s.”

Jeremy Bearimy will forever remain a mystery to Tahani, so she doesn’t bother wondering how long that is in terms she’d understand. Instead she focuses on Vicky’s odd tone, masked somehow, making it impossible to tell if she’s being genuine or sarcastic. But the answer has to be obvious. No human enjoyed the Bad Place in its previous form.

"And now, she gets to enjoy the pleasure of your company. You know what to do better than I do, so all I’ll say is good-bye and good luck,” Vicky says, disappearing with a wicked grin.

Tahani shakes off the odd vibes to introduce herself. She doesn’t get the chance.

Later, Tahani will learn that she was assigned Root as part of a hazing ritual. Later, she will learn that Root is the Bad Place’s dirty little secret.

Every system has a flaw. Root excels at finding them. She had taken in the insults and fart noises, deemed them lame and derivative, and set about making her corner of the Bad Place hell for demons. Vicky had been literal in her statement. Root really had enjoyed her time in the Bad Place, and the demons had only gotten through it by the schadenfreude of subjecting each other to this notorious Boogeyman.

On the weekend, Renee took Robbie out to take his mind off things. He felt more comfortable if Jayleen was there, so Renee came along with Vincent! Visiting the Bloom Garden & Cafe was a nice escape from the busy city and they enjoyed the splendid views! But Renee and Vincent started talking about their jobs; something Robbie didn't want to hear. He tried to block out their voices, but all he heard was their success, making him feel like even more of a failure...

Then he heard enough. He made some snide remarks about their careers targeting Vincent's success and left to get some space. Renee should have known better about Robbie's work situation and went to check on him, "I'm sorry Robbie, we should've stopped." She let him vent his frustrations, listening and offering some big sister advice.

"There's one more thing...I'm a bit embarrassed to say this," Robbie admitted and talked about how he was intimidated by Vincent. "Oh, Robbie," Renee finally understood his perspective.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have said all that to you," Robbie apologised to Vincent. "Hey, it's ok. I get what you're going through, I've been there too," he managed a small smile, "You remind me of myself...when I was at the lowest point of my life." Robbie doesn't know much about Vincent or his past: all he thinks about is how he is now and how perfect his life seemed. His train of thought was interrupted by a gentle touch, "If you ever want to talk about it, I'll be here for you."

"Close your eyes, have no fear" Killer Croc continued singing

"That's not how the letter goes" Danny frown, only days ago he discovered he was "rescued" by the Fentons, who called Waylon (His Dad, he was his Dad) a monster (They called him a Monster too, why why why); Many years ago they were in a convention on Gotham and after seeing him and his dad walking on the streets they considered his biological father a monster, they stole him because they saw his "humanity" and wanted to "save him" (They stole that humanity too, THEY KILLED HIM, WHY)

"Before you cross the street, take my hand" Waylon couldn't stop singing, if he stopped he would realize this was all a dream, his boy would be out of his hands again (Like those scientists who keep screaming and pointing him with guns, stealing his kid, calling him uncapable of taking care of a human baby, screaming about him being a monster trying to kill his baby, but the cops arrested him and not them WHY WHY WHY)

"Dad please, look at me" Danny was going to cry (This was his father, his real father who just discovered cause his "adoptive" parents didn't have his papers) "please look at me, I am here"

"I can hardly wait" Waylon feeled the tears leaving his eyes, he hugged the kid closer, waiting for him to disappear "to see you come of age" he lost so many years (They stole his baby, They stole his baby, THEY STOLE HIS BABY, WHY IS NOBODY STOPPING THEM, PLEASE HELP)

"Papa, please" the halfa started crying, this was a mess, even if he didn't inherited the meta gen from Waylon ¿how could he tell his father he was half dead? That people see him like a monster? The only thing his Papa didn't want for him? (They stole him, they killed him, they called his Papa a monster, they called HIM a monster and now, ¿will he be able to broke his Papa heart again? ¿To tell him the truth?) "Please, I am here"

On the other side of the street, the bats looked at "Killer Croc" (That was not his name, Waylon Jones was good before justice failed him, was it their fault?) crying and hugging a child tightly, but without hurting him, it seemed that he was hiding him from the world (Could anyone blame him?) and they could not bring themselves to interfere

(7.) [Dulce] Reality is hitting me. I'm feeling a bit sick now.

(8.) [Andrea] First up, we have Chef Lewis's appetizer.

(9.) [Lewis] Seriously? I've always been picked last in things, especially when it comes to picking teams in physical education class. Oh well, I'm pure done in from all the worrying. Let's get this over with.

(10.) [Lewis] Judges, today I have for you a pea shoot salad with crumbled sausage, flatbread croutons, and a shakshuka sauce vinaigrette.

(11.) [Carlo] These croutons are awfully burnt, buddy. We can't try them like this.

(12.) [Rubiya] Poor Lewis.

(13.) [Dulce] Oh, man.. at least the rest of the bowl looks pretty?

(14.) [Lewis] Yeah, I'm sorry. I lost track of time, so I put the heat up, but then I sorta forgot about 'em. But they're one of the basket ingredients, so I had to keep 'em in so I don't get immediately disqualified, y'know?

(15.) [Sofia] I respect that, Chef Lewis. You're not backing out of the race just yet. That's admirable, in my opinion. This vinaigrette is delicious, by the way.

(16.) [Carlo] The crumbled sausage is actually cooked to perfection...

[Dulce] Judges, today I made for you cheesy pizza wedges with a flatbread crust, shakshuka sauce, topped with pea shoots, and merguez sausage.
