Mi Anhelo Por Ti
Tumblr media
julieta madrigal x fem!reader
tw: topics and scenes of physical abuse
the sounds of wet mud and breaking twigs beneath your feet seemed to be muted by your increased heartbeat. the stinging pain that arose in your ankles only increased, but that didn’t stop you from running how you have been for almost a day. it looked like you just came from war. dirt covered your body along with dried blood and bruises.
“i have to keep going,” you thought to yourself.
you were unfamiliar with your surroundings and extremely tired. the heavy bag you carried only added to the exhaustion. this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. the second you stepped out of that house had felt like a weight was lifted off of your chest. your now ex-husband would miss you, but you sure as hell wouldn’t miss him.
you saw a large structure in the distance between the trees with lights. where there’s lights, there’s people, where there’s people, there’s-
“a town?”
you began to slow down in an attempt to catch your breath. the sun had been almost fully submerged by the darkness and you knew you couldn’t stay the night in the forest again. thankfully, the structure you saw wasn’t too far of a walk.
as you exited the forest, you were welcomed by many bright lights and colorful buildings. the people seemed to be busy with their own thing, some selling food and clothes. the aroma of arepas and various other foods filled your nose. you were so caught up in running you didn’t realize you were hungry.
then you realized all of it. the pain in your ankles, the blood running down from your lip down your neck, the screaming headache and urge to pass out. and that’s exactly what happened. you’d been running for so long nonstop without any source of energy- of course you’d pass out.
———————————————————————
“ay, isa! go check if the arepas are done warming up.”
you’d woken up to a sort of warmth and someone touching you. your eyes could hardly open, but when they did the first thing you saw was a beautiful woman above you. she seemed surprised that you’d woken up but continued what she was doing.
you winced as the warm, damp cloth gently rubbed against your wounds. your bruises ached and you felt sick. the other seemed worried from the wincing and put down the cloth.
“are you okay, hon?”
“where am i?”
noticing you were laid on a bed, you sat up carefully and looked around. the room was painted with little animals and the alphabet, along with what seemed to be different types of fabric laying around. a couple candles were lit on a nightstand by the door to give some light.
“i suppose you deserve an explanation. this town is Encanto. i’m julieta madrigal, and you’re in the madrigal house.”
a confused expression formed on your face.
“are.. you not from here?”
“lo siento, no. i arrived from a couple towns over. i’m y/n y/l/n.”
the older woman appeared to be surprised. she took a guess what was town you were talking about and had no idea why you would leave. she realized it wasn’t exactly her place to know, and then someone else walked into the room.
an obvious younger girl who looked to be in her twenties. she carried a plate with multiple arepas and handed it to julieta.
“thank you isa.”
“no problem, mama.”
the girl examined you with an intrigued expression on her face. she was dressed with a flower dress and her hair was beautifully done. she left the room to let her mother continue what she was doing with a sigh.
“who was that?”
“that’s my daughter, isabela. she’s actually the one who found you lying on the road.”
you suddenly remembered what had happened. you ran away from..him, and ended up here in Encanto. it was such a tiring journey due to all the running and adrenaline from escaping.
your stomach made several noises as you held it in embarrassment. julieta formed a smile and let out a slight chuckle, putting an arepa up to your lips.
“here, eat it.”
you took a bite and a burst of flavor entered you mouth. you quickly finished the arepa as you watched your several wounds heal. what was this? magic? it was something you didn’t know about due to being closed off for so long. you didn’t question it since the relief of feeling better washed over you.
you suddenly took the woman’s hand in yours which caused her eyes to widen a bit, a soft pink blush covered her cheeks.
“gracias. i really appreciate your kindness.”
“ah, it’s nothing. i do this on the daily.”
a deep voice called julieta’s name. it sounded angered and stern, causing her to jump. with her hand still attached to yours she squeezed it gently. it was a habit of hers when nervous.
“i’m sorry- i’ve got a few things to take care of tonight. mama said earlier you’re able to stay the night and we’ll continue with what to do in the morning.”
she got up, brushing off her dress. you took this as an opportunity to examine her better. she had glowing tan-skin and her figure was fairly average. you could tell she was shorter than most and the way she walked was elegant. she made her way to the door and spoke before closing it.
“welcome to encanto.”
the door closed and you were left on the bed with the few arepas still on the plate. you quickly finished them as you let out a sigh laying back down. you were very tired and relieved to finally feel a bed beneath you. you closed your eyes and began to fall asleep.

Week 2 Part 2: Lucía's Relationships Continued
Tumblr media
Alejandro
Alejandro Moreno was Lucía’s late husband.  He was a few years older than her and several inches taller.  He had black hair and hazel eyes and though he always considered himself of ‘very average’ appearance, his romantic nature and artistic spirit made him a popular target for flirtations in the village.  Several of Lucía’s former classmates were a bit jealous when they began to court.
He adored Lucía and often got them into trouble, sneaking her away into the jungle to show her a new waterfall he’d found or some viewpoint that inspired him.  He was passionate and headstrong and sometimes let his passions carry him away – especially in the cases of Lucía, his artwork, and defending the town’s scapegoat.
Alejandro, being just a few years older than Lucía, knew Bruno a bit better than she did – or at least remembered the boy he was before he became an anxious, moody teenager.  He always had a soft spot for the seer and had the same mindset that Lucía’s father did – that Bruno had a hard job and didn’t deserve the ire he increasingly got for his visions.  He apprenticed under an elderly artist of the Encanto when he was a teen and went on to paint several murales depicting the Madrigals, and always treated Bruno with the same respect and attention that he treated the rest of the family.  This, of course, made Bruno nervous because it was unexpected – but it did cause him to stand out in Bruno’s memory, even if he didn't trust at the time that Alejandro was being genuine.
Alejandro became a bit obsessed with Bruno’s story, especially after his disappearance, and was the one who insisted on keeping Bruno in the center of the murales as years passed, because – as he joked with his wife – “if we cannot talk about him, at least we can see him, eh?”
Alejandro and Lucía tried for years to start a family but it never happened until their mid-30s, when Josefina was born. By then, both Alejandro’s parents and Lucía’s mother had passed away.  Alejandro and Lucía were thrilled with Josefina, their ‘little miracle’, and doted on her. Alejandro was a loving husband to Lucía and father to Josefina, but he did allow his obsession with his art to distract him from them from time to time.
It was his insistence that he needed to wander the forested mountains on the edges of the Encanto to find new materials for his paints that led to his untimely death – a landslide leading to the tragic accident that took him from his wife and daughter.
Before Alejandro’s death, Lucía’s relationship with the Madrigals was one of polite and friendly respect. Lucía was born too late to be friends with the triplets and too early to be friends with the following generation.  Their social circles did not overlap much and they did not have great need for any of the Madrigal’s services, aside from the occasional healing food from Julieta or the request for Luisa to move their printer so they could clean beneath it or to help rearrange their bookshelves. They attended the same church and the same village-wide parties and were on good terms but not close.
For various reasons, the Madrigals blamed themselves for not being able to save Alejandro, and Lucía was so deep in grief that by the time her family pulled her through it enough that she began living again, she forgot to tell them that it wasn’t their fault.  She couldn’t bring herself to thank them, even though she knew she should.  But she was never angry at them.  She continued to treat them all with polite respect and welcomed Antonio to story time. The Madrigals never thought she blamed them (or assumed she was too gracious and classy to confront them about it if she did), but in classic Madrigal fashion, lack of communication lead to a burden that no one ever needed to carry in the first place.
Tumblr media
Josefina
“You have my persimmons to court.”
Josefina Carmen Moreno is Lucía’s only child, her pride and joy, her dear heart, her beloved daughter, her corazón…and her constant source of exasperation and worry.
Josefina looks very much like her mother in her face and body type, but her eyes are hazel and her hair is wavy and black like her father’s. Her hair is always coming out of her braids. She’s a small child with a lot of energy, and is the extrovert to her mother’s introvert.
Josefina was almost three years old when she lost her father and doesn’t remember a whole lot about him now that she’s a big six year old, but she loves seeing the evidence of him everywhere around her – in the murales of the Madrigal family, in the books he illustrated in her abuelo’s shop, and in the murales he painted in her room. Josefina is an only child with a big heart and the enthusiasm of three kids.  She loves hearing about her father, looking through his art, and listening to her mother’s stories.  In school, she loves reading stories and making things and she hates math.  She’s always wanting to play or be with people – whether it’s her Tía Sofia’s big family (that she is slightly jealous of)  that lives on the other side of town, or her friends Juancho, Alejandra, Cecilia, Antonio, Manuel, and Juan -  she just loves being around people and being in the spotlight.  (As long as it’s positive attention.  If it’s negative she gets defensive and upset.)  She has big dreams and her biggest one is to one day own a bicycle.
Lucía’s biggest goal in life is to raise Josefina well – to have her grow up knowing she is loved, fully and completely, and that she is capable of whatever good thing she sets her mind to.  Even though Lucía is usually too busy or too worried to see it, Josefina already knows both of those things and is completely confident in her place and her abilities.
…sometimes a little too confident…
When the Madrigals stay with Lucía and her family after Casita falls, Josefina enthusiastically embraces her role as hostess; when Bruno sneaks his rats into the house, she declares him to be just like Cenicienta (Cinderella) and immediately takes a liking to him.  She’s stubborn and spirited and quickly becomes one of Bruno’s biggest fans and biggest defenders, and when her mama and Bruno finally fall in love, she readily gives them her approval.

My Rainbow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This took way too long, I have so much work ...
Rainbow — Arcoíris
🌈 ☀️ ⛈️ 🌈 ☀️ ⛈️ 🌈 ☀️ ⛈️ 🌈 ☀️ ⛈️
Pepa has been having a couple rough weeks.
She was acting moody — well, moodier than usual — and her weather was completely haywire.
There was hail and showers, snow mixed with wind, and sunshine with thunderstorms. She had no idea what was going on with her weather, and Mamá was starting to get on her case about how crazy it was.
Pepa didn’t want to deal with another lecture about how she had a cloud and about how she had to calm down and control herself.
Pepa sits down to the breakfast table, taking a sip of café con leche to get rid of the cloud hanging over her head. She had woken up alone this morning and feels like she had gotten no sleep at all.
“Pepa, estás bien?” Julieta asks, concerned. Her hermana stands by the doorway of the kitchen, keeping an eye on Pepa while simultaneously watching to see if Agustín burned himself while cooking again.
Julieta is now a couple months pregnant, a small bump showing from her blue dress, and Agustín— being the doting husband he is— refuses to have his wife stand on her feet and work all day while she is pregnant. So, he has decided to take up cooking to help her out, no matter how many burns he received.
“No,” Pepa grumbles as she takes a sip of café. Her cloud lightens, but traces still remain. “I didn’t get enough sleep last night. Dónde está Félix?”
“He went outside to garden,” Bruno says as he joins the table. Thankfully, he didn’t have any rats on him, but Pepa still scoots away.
Agustín pokes his head out and winces when he gets a look at each of them. “Dios, did the three of you get any sleep? I mean, I understand Juli not sleeping because of the baby, and she looks beautiful anyway …”
Julieta blushes and Pepa and Bruno glare at their cuñado, a dark cloud materializing over Pepa’s head again. She went to get another sip of her café, only to realize its empty.
Frustration bubbles in her blood and the wind picks up. Bruno glances over in concern. Julieta frowns as she notes her mood swing. “Pepa, you should eat something. Agustín is done.”
There is a yelp, a clatter, then a curse of “Miércoles!”
Julieta sighs, “Almost done.”
She disappears in the kitchen, and a moment later reappears with with the food, setting them down at their respective seats.
Pepa glances down at the plate, and her stomach churns. It was just a normal breakfast, and a delicious one at that, but suddenly Pepa feels sick. Normally, she had a light meal because of her nervous stomach, but now, looking at the food makes her want to throw up.
She has to eat, so her Mamá wouldn’t begin looking at her with frustration, so she wouldn’t have to lecture her about being a Madrigal and controlling herself, and then Pepa would be sent out to do her chores and get the weather all wrong, which would set Mamá in a bad mood again and Dios, where was Félix clear skies, clear skies—
“PEPA!” Her family shouts, and Pepa snaps out of her anxious tangent she see wind and snow rushing around the room in a blizzard.
She freezes, and the wind dies down to leave flurries of snow drifting in the air. Pepa shrinks in her seat as Julieta, Bruno, and Agustín stare at her worriedly.
“Pepa, are you okay?” Julieta asks gently.
Pepa squeezes her eyes shut and rubs her temples. “Sí … I’m just in a bad mood is all. Lately, I’ve been feeling really moody and nauseous, and I haven’t been able to sleep right. And you know how Mamá is during the crops season. I’ve been so stressed and if I have to hear one more lecture—”
“Family,” the warm voice of Alma cuts through the air, and they all freeze before scrambling to get into their seats.
They sit down just as the matriarch enters the room in a surprisingly good mood. She doesn’t even notice the clumps of snow on the floor as she heads for the table.
“I have wonderful news for all of you, and the future of the Encanto.” She turns towards Pepa, who instantly straightens. Her mamá’s eyes are warm and kind, unlike the usual stern look Pepa’s come to recognize.
“I am happy to announce that there is a new door is Casita.” Gasps filled the room and Casita clatters its confirmation. Alma nods, her eyes shining with pride and joy as she turns to her daughter.
“Congratulations, Pepi. We now have a new Madrigal in the family.”
Pepa’s jaw drops as all eyes turns to her, hardly able to breathe. She was pregnant?! Cómo … Cuando …
That explained her weather! Her mood swings, her nausea, her exhaustion. Not to mention when her and Félix—
Pepa stops, blushing, and her hands flutter down to her stomach.
A baby. A baby. Her baby— her and Félix’s.
Mamá is still droning on and on about La Familia Madrigal and the two new miracles and strengthening their community when Pepa abruptly stands up, mutters out an excuse, and rushes out of Casita.
She has to find Félix.
Fortunately, it doesn’t take very long, because as soon as she spots him, she calls out his name and races towards him, tackling him in a hug.
Félix laughs, spinning her around. “Qué paso, mi amor?”
“I’m going to have a baby,” Pepa says.
Félix’s mouth drops open and stares at his wife in disbelief. “Què?!?”
Pepa presses her lips together, a smile growing on her face as the sun glows brightly overhead. There’s no cloud in sight and for the first time the weather is clear.
“I’m pregnant,” she repeats. Her heart beats loudly as she watches her husband’s face turn blank, eyes growing round with shock as his gaze drops to her stomach.
“I’m going to be a papá?” Félix asks. A hesitant smile makes its way across his face.
Pepa beams, nodding her head as she blinks back tears of happiness.
Félix jumps forward and kisses her. Pepa laughs, smiling when Félix deepens the kiss and cups her face. Pepa fists his shirt, kissing him back.
The kiss feels like sunshine, bright and happy as their mouths move together.
Then it’s rain, heaviness growing in intensity like the onset of a downpour.
Then it feels like a thunderstorm, the anticipation building and building until the thunderous release of lightning cracks across the sky like a dazzling firework.
“Eh-hem,” someone clears their throat.
Pepa and Félix both pull away to see their family. Bruno crosses his arms in annoyance, and Pepa makes sure to send him a dirty look as well. Agustín is bashfully turned away, but could still be seen hiding a smirk. Julieta simply smiles, amusement glittering in her eyes.
“Having fun?” Julieta asks, making her way towards them.
Pepa rolls her eyes. “As a matter of fact, we were. Gracias, hermana.”
Julieta sticks her tongue out, retorting, “Por favor, you two will just break the bed later!”
Pepa gasps and Agustín lets out a horrified, “Juli!” as Félix and Bruno burst out laughing.
Pepa turns red, fogging over in embarrassment as her hermana laughs before pulling her in for a hug.
“Anyway, we just wanted to say congratulations — you ran away so fast we weren’t able to tell you.” Juli says and Bruno steps forward, smiling awkwardly.
Pepa returns the gesture. Things have been tense since the incident where Bruno made her create the biggest hurricane Encanto has ever seen on her wedding day, and Juli has often had to come in and play peacekeeper.
“Sí,” Bruno says. “Felicidades.”
Pepa nodded. “Gracias.”
There’s a beat, and Bruno deflates when he realizes that she’s going to say nothing more. Pepa feels a bit bad, but stubbornly kept her mouth shut. Thankfully, her husband swoops in before things could get awkward.
He claps a hand on Bruno’s back, nearly knocking him over with a yelp as his other arm comes around Agustín. “We’re to be tíos, hermanos,” he says. He looks over at Agustín, chest swelling. “We’re going to be papás.”
“Let’s just pray Agustín’s baby won’t be as clumsy as him,” Bruno says.
The man gasps and splutters indignantly as his family laughs. Julieta punches Bruno in the shoulder. “Ah, cállate. Our bebé is going to be perfect no matter who she takes after.”
Agustín beams, swelling with pride as he stares at his wife. She blinks back affectionately.
Pepa rolls her eyes at the sight, a smile tugging at her lips. Dios Mío, and they say we’re bad.
At the thought, she turns around to find her husband’s eyes already on her. Something in her heart tugs. It’s the way Félix just looks up at her— with pure adoration, like she’s the most wonderful thing in the world. He looks at her like the man seeing the sun for the first time, and kisses her like its his last day on earth.
His hand finds her stomach, the size swallowing it. There is a small bump— practically unnoticeable— but it’s there, and it’s theirs. Pepa can’t help but lean down to kiss him, and he leans up to kiss her back.
“Ugh, seriously?! I’m surrounded by couples!”
“No problema, amigo. I can always set you up with someone in town—”
“Dios Mío, no!”
🌈 ☀️ ⛈️ 🌈 ☀️ ⛈️ 🌈 ☀️ ⛈️ 🌈 ☀️ ⛈️
The first time Pepa sees her child, she knew it had all been worth it.
Despite all the clouds and thundering and snow and the hurricanes, it has been worth it from the beginning because—
Dolores Adríana Madrigal is the most beautiful baby girl in the whole world.
(Agustín might disagree because of Isabela, but that didn't matter.)
She had bright eyes and beautiful curls just like her papá. She is just the perfect mix of Pepa and Félix as she slept in the little red blanket Julieta made her.
Dolores was a quiet baby for the most part, only crying when she wasn't being held and screaming when she was left alone. When they held her she let out soft gurgles as she stared at them curiously with big, brown eyes.
Pepa fell in love the instant she saw her. She could tell that Félix felt the same way too, from the broad smile that split his face whenever he saw his daughter.
Mamá’s lips move in prayer as she stares at her second nieta and clutch the pendant that held her husband. Agustín and Julieta lean over to see with baby Isabela, huge smiles on their faces.
Bruno makes a snarky comment about how Dolores will probably be as emotional as her mother, and Pepa would have struck him down that instant if she hadn't noticed the tears falling down his face as he cries for his sobrina.
Félix keeps on pressing kisses on her face mumbling out endearments of mi vida, mi amor as Pepa hardly breathes, cradling their daughter.
Outside, the labor-induced hurricane slows as the sun tentatively peeks from the clouds.
She loves her.
Pepa gasps, then sobs in delight and happiness as the feeling hits her like a bolt of lightning; striking and electric and fierce as her heart pounds against her chest.
The sun shines, light fracturing off the dew to create the most beautiful rainbow over the Encanto, over Casita, over Pepa — over Dolores.
It is the happiest she’s ever been in her life.

Prompt 50: “People are staring.”
Pepa and Felix!
Of course them, who else! I kinda hijacked this to write a "strangers meeting in a bar" roleplay idea that I've been tinkering with since May because of course those two are freaky. Loosely inspired by a song that makes me absolutely feral and has Félix/Pepa written all over it.
Modern AU, and steamy, obviously.
Pepa sat at the bar, idly stirring her drink. She had come out with Julieta, hoping to have a girls’ night out, but after about an hour, an urgent injury cut their evening short. Julieta had practically run out of the bar, pouring out apologies and promising Pepa that next week would be different. Which was what she said every week…
Now Pepa sat alone, nursing her drink, and observing the crowd of people. The dance floor was full, and the music was lively, but she didn’t really feel like joining in. Not by herself, anyway. She missed Félix. Where was he…
Her lips curved into a smile as she spotted him at the other side of the bar. He had gone out with Agustín and Bruno for a boys’ night, and, she noted with a trace of displeasure, their night seemed to be going much better than hers. Not that she begrudged her husband some fun with his brothers-in-law, but she was sitting all by herself, all dressed up, and yet no one was paying attention to her. It didn’t seem right. Félix could bond with the guys another time. Right now, she needed her husband.
She caught his eye, smiling at him flirtatiously. Surely he wouldn’t want his wife to suffer all by herself, abandoned by her sister and now languishing all alone at the bar. Pulling out her phone, she tapped out a quick text. I miss you.
He didn’t reply immediately. While she waited, she scrolled through the camera roll on her phone. Under the many, many photos of their children, there was a folder containing some more…risqué material of her and Félix. Her cheeks flushed as she looked through the photos they had taken, both together and apart. They didn’t help her plight in the slightest.
Deciding she was done with waiting for a reply, she texted him, Come here. I need you. For good measure, she sent along a photo of herself. A “thirst trap”, she thought the kids call it.
That got a reaction out of him. Checking to see that Bruno and Agustín were distracted, he typed his reply. You need me, huh?
No sooner had she gotten the text than she replied. Sí. I’m over here suffering all by myself, and you’re having fun over there. I need mi esposo to come take care of me.
Take care of you how?
Oh, he was enjoying this. Pepa frowned, concentrating as she typed. You know how. If you’re so interested in playing games, I should get to pick, since I’m the one dying of boredom.
She swore she could see him gulp. What game do you want to play?
You know which one.
Much to her pleasure, he turned to Agustín and Bruno, probably giving some sort of lackluster explanation as to why he had to go, then meandered over to where she was sitting. Of course, he didn’t go right up to her and talk to her right away. That wasn’t how this game worked.
She sat patiently, stirring her drink and swinging her legs as she waited for him to approach her.
But he was going to play the game properly, she noted with satisfaction. He would glance over at her, then as soon as she met his eye, look away. This went on for a few minutes until she saw him talking to the bartender, pointing her out.
The bartender stifled a smirk and, to his credit, merely nodded. He had worked there long enough to know what Félix and Pepa were like. He set out mixing up a cocktail, identical to the one Pepa had almost emptied by this time.
A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. Oh, he was really going all out.
Soon, a tall glass was placed in front of her. “Tequila sunrise,” announced the bartender. “Compliments of the gentleman sitting at the end of the bar.” Somehow, he managed to maintain a semblance of professionalism and not roll his eyes at the antics of one of the town’s most well-known couples.
“Give him my thanks.” Pepa took a dainty sip from the drink, casting Félix a sidelong glance. She waved at him coyly, signaling him to approach her.
He took his sweet time, sauntering over suavely, stopping to greet a few people on the way.
Irritation bubbled up in Pepa. How dare he keep her waiting like that? A part of her knew she was being irrational, but a bigger part of her wished he’d just get on with it already.
Finally, he reached where she was sitting and leaned against the bar. He was just tall enough to be able to rest an elbow on the bar and lean on it while standing. To her surprise, he didn’t speak to her yet, apparently content to merely observe her.
The intense attention was beginning to make Pepa squirm. She swallowed hard, finally addressing him. “Take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
Félix shifted the position of his elbow, angling his body closer to Pepa. “I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, hermosa. It’s just that…” He paused, glancing down at his arm suddenly. “You are so beautiful that this must be a dream. Pinch me.” He punctuated the comment with a small pinch on his forearm, keeping his eyes fixed on hers. “Am I dreaming, amor? Or are you just a dream come true?”
As cheesy as it was, he had broken the ice. Pepa snorted through her nose. “Oh, come on. Has that line ever worked on anyone?”
Félix shrugged, a casual smile playing on his lips. “Gentlemen don’t kiss and tell.” He mimed locking his lips and throwing the key over his shoulder.
Pepa suppressed a giggle. He was really playing up the Casanova bit. She loved seeing his confidence, but she was going to make him work a little harder. “Is that so?” She asked disinterestedly, chasing down the last dregs of her first drink before moving onto to her second.
He didn’t take her bait, instead raking his eyes up and down over her body. She wore a sinfully red slinky dress that hugged and accentuated her curves. A small gulp traveled down his throat as he continued drinking her in through hooded eyes.
She allowed him to ogle her for a few minutes, basking in the attention. She knew that she looked good. It felt nice to be appreciated, even if he was blatantly objectifying her. A quarter of the second drink had followed the first. “Are you just going to stand there and undress me with your eyes?” Her tone was flat, almost bored, but tinged with curiosity.
Félix shot her his winning grin, dazzling her with a mouthful of pearly whites. “Well, I’d much rather undress you with my hands,” he said conversationally. “Unfortunately, we’re in public.”
Leave it to him to be direct. Feeling her skin start to heat up, Pepa decided to have a little more fun with him and see just how far he would take his act. She raised her left hand in front of her, wiggling her fingers to make the light glint off her wedding ring. “I have a husband.”
“Do you?” He replied nonchalantly, as if she’d merely informed him that she had a cat. His hand curved over her thigh. “Does he take care of you?”
Trying to stave off the hitch in her breath that his touch always brought, Pepa gave a noncommittal shrug. “I haven’t kicked him out yet.”
Félix laughed. “Feisty, I like that.” He gestured to her drink. “I see you’re enjoying your drink.”
Pepa drew a long sip through her straw. “Yes, thank you.” Tequila burned all the way down her throat. The bartender had made this one stronger. She’d have to thank him too at some point…
“Although I have to say, you don’t really strike me as the tequila sunrise type.”
Pepa arched an eyebrow delicately. “Oh no?”
Félix shook his head. “You seem much more like a hurricane.”
The double entendre was not lost on her. Her mouth fell open in outrage. How dare he? Clear skies, clear skies…“I don’t know why I’m still talking to you when I have a wonderful husband. One who’s kind and doesn’t push my buttons,” she fumed, fixing him with a pointed look. She breathed, trying to calm the small gust of wind that had sprung up around them.
Félix took the display in stride, finally removing the hand that was burning a hole in Pepa’s thigh. “Well then maybe you should go be with that husband of yours. But I can offer you a night you’ll never forget.”
“Can you?”
His hand came to rest on her arm, far more gently than before. “I can make you feel pleasure like you’ve never felt before. Touch you in ways that’ll light all your nerve endings on fire.” He leaned closer to her ear, lowering his voice. “I can fuck you until you leave claw marks down my back from sheer ecstasy. Until you feel like you can’t take it anymore and beg me for mercy. Until the only thing left in your head is the name you’ll be screaming until your voice gives out.” He pulled back, smirking smugly. “Can your husband do that?”
His words had the desired effect. Pepa felt lightheaded. Her goading had shown he was fully committed to the act, which was…exhilarating. Her entire body felt like it was burning up. She exhaled shallowly, trying to collect herself. “He’d better.”
Félix chuckled softly. He moved closer to her, invading her space. “So what’ll it be?”
Pepa instinctively leaned back, leaving him standing above her. His mere presence affected her more strongly than any aphrodisiac. He was so close that she was sure he could feel the heat radiating from her core. For that matter, everyone else could probably tell too. The humidity in the courtyard around them had ratcheted up significantly.
A few heads had turned in their direction, tilting curiously, people no doubt having noticed the change in weather.
“People are staring,” Pepa whispered, her cheeks coloring with embarrassment.
Félix’s reply was perfectly calm. “Let them.”
The alcohol was starting to hit Pepa. She felt buzzed, unsure how much of the fire coursing through her veins could be attributed to the drinks and how much to her ever-increasing desire. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest as she considered her next move. She crossed her legs, trying to calm her heartrate. If the ruined scrap of fabric between her legs was anything to go by, staying was no longer an option.
Félix’s fingertips began dancing up her arm, sending up shivers in their wake and jarring her from her alcohol induced stupor.
He wanted them to go. She wanted them to go. What were they waiting for?
Having finally decided, she slung her purse over her shoulder and craned over to his ear to whisper, “Let’s go.”
They stumbled home sloppily, Pepa draped almost entirely over Félix. Those drinks really had been strong… Somehow, they’d managed the locks and made their way up the stairs into their bedroom.
After clicking their own lock into place, Félix turned to face Pepa, who was still standing by the door.
Her chest heaved with anticipation as he stalked over to her. “I’ve been waiting for this all night,” he informed her, backing her into the wall with a quiet thud.
Pepa’s eyes blazed into his. With surprising boldness for someone whose hands were currently being pinned above her head, she shook her head. “No more talking. You did enough of that earlier.”
“You didn’t like my flirting?” Félix joked, feigning hurt.
“There are..” She was starting to feel dizzy. Was his thigh pressing into her? Or is that just what she desperately wanted to happen? “Better uses for your mouth…” she panted out deliriously.
He stared at her, her silhouette illuminated solely by the moonlight streaming in through the window. They hadn’t bothered with the lights, not in the mood to deal with switches. Finally, he acquiesced. “As you wish, mi vida.”
Before she could even process his response, he swooped over her and covered her lips with his own. She sighed her relief, allowing his tongue entrance. He had a silver tongue in more ways than one…
Soft little whimpers escaped her lips as he ravaged her. His hand had dropped her arms to undo the zipper of her dress. It was a delicate thing that was far too easy to break. He’d better not break it.
Her eyes flashed him a warning and she used her newly freed hands to swat away his fingers, fiddling with the stupid zipper until she’d gotten it worked most of the way down, when she encountered resistance. Surprised, she looked over to see Félix blocking her side with his hand.
Taking advantage of her momentary distraction, he crouched down and used his teeth to pull the zipper down the rest of the way.
Pepa rolled her eyes. Showoff. But his display reminded her that there were better uses for those too. Impatiently, she shoved the dress off unceremoniously, letting it pool around her feet. She raised an eyebrow towards him questioningly. Well?
She didn’t have to wait long for her answer. Large hands had come up to cover her breasts, kneading them roughly over the satin of her bra before ridding themselves of the obstacle. His lips attached to the column of her neck, licking off the sweat that had accumulated before sucking in the skin and leaving little nips. Meanwhile, his hands continued to work her breasts, eliciting the most exquisite noises from her.
Pepa rubbed her thighs together, seeking friction to alleviate her ever growing frustration. While she appreciated his thoroughness as a lover, she wished he would just hurry up already. He’d mentioned something earlier about making her scream, and she really wanted to get to that part before she died of old age.
Ever perceptive, he inserted his leg between her own to stop her motions. His eyes widened as he was met with sodden fabric, her arousal no doubt seeping out onto his pants. Apparently deciding that he had done enough teasing, he scooped her effortlessly in his arms, depositing her onto the bed the same way he had done when they were newlyweds.
Pepa scooted up the bed, trying not to pay too much attention to the insistent throbbing that would have to be addressed. Her head came to rest on the pillow, cradled by it softly. There was something in the moments he showed his strength that really riled her up. When he picked her up like that, she felt small, fragile, like she could break at any moment, yet she knew he wouldn’t let her. He would always make sure she was whole. The thought made her stomach flutter.
Félix crawled over the mattress, causing it to dip. At some point, he had divested himself of his clothing, so skin rubbed against skin unencumbered. His eyes threatened to devour Pepa. His hot breath fell on her chest as his eyes bored into hers.
The anticipation was killing her. She had spent the entire night worked up and was more than ready to be satisfied. Had the sheets always been so cool, or was her skin just that overheated? See? She was burning up with desire. He would have to tend to the flame. Suddenly, she yanked his head down towards her own and kissed him harshly.
The spell had broken. That thin, tenuous bubble keeping them apart had burst as they crashed into each other. They kissed fervently, drawing ragged breaths from shared air, hands roaming freely over their exposed skin. The ruined scrap of fabric that had formerly been underwear was flung somewhere across the room. Neither one of them particularly cared where it had landed.
Not now. Not when they were on the precipice of sating their hunger. Satisfying their need to consume and be consumed by the other.
She was so wet that he slid in easily. She probably would have screamed then, but she was having a hard time catching her breath. The air weighed down on them oppressively, humid and sticky. All she could do was pant desperately for breath and grasp at the sheets as her wonderful husband pounded her into the mattress.
His brows furrowed in concentration and he grunted as he bore down on her. This was no longer the sweet, thoughtful Félix who had escorted her home. Oh no. In his place was someone ferocious, chasing his own pleasure relentlessly.
His pace was brutal. Pepa held on for dear life: feet hooked around his sides, nails leaving the most honest love letters on his back. True to his word, he did make her scream. Again. And again. And again.
At long last, they collapsed, exhausted. They had lost count of how many rounds they had gone. It was all they could do to lie there, boneless and utterly satisfied. Pepa wanted to take a second to collect herself when Félix spoke up.
“So? Did I do it?”
Pepa turned to look at him. “Do what?”
“You know…” he trailed off flirtatiously, “what I promised I’d do in the bar.”
Of course he would be smug about it. “I don’t know…” Pepa’s fingertips traced lightly over the gashes she had left in his back, making him wince. “Why don’t you tell me?”
“I’d say so.” He inhaled sharply. “Ay, that stings.”
“Pobrecito…” Pepa cooed. “Maybe you shouldn’t have made such big promises then.”
“You love my big promises,” he pointed out.
“I do.” She pecked his lips sweetly. “I’ll get you some of Julieta’s food in the morning before you head down.”
“Mi esposa takes such good care of me.” He beamed at her in the semidarkness.
“Because mi esposo takes such good care of me.” Pepa maneuvered herself closer to his body. “Thank you for tonight.”
“Of course, mi vida.” His arm draped over her middle like a blanket. “Anything you need.”
She hummed contentedly as she drifted off, right next to her husband.

Hi for the wholesome prompt. What if in the A Place for Crows (to rest their feet) the grandkids have an accidental sleepover with Pedro and the rest of the family finding them. Like before dinner they fell asleep in the garden when Pedro was telling them some stories or something?
After the latest chapter, we can all use some wholesome Pedro&family I think. Takes place somewhere far in the future. Not 100% exactly what you were looking for but I hope acceptable
**********************
"Has anyone seen Olive?" Mariano asks the gathered family. They are setting the table for dinner, but he can't find his little sunshine anywhere amongst the bustle and hustle of a family that seems to grow bigger every time he looks away.
He would ask his wife, but she is down in the village, running some last minute errant.
He could have sworn that he'd seen his little girl with her uncle last, but Antonio shakes his head and points outside.
"Abuelo took her into the garden when she grew bored with drawing. I think they are still out there."
Mariano thanks him profusely and goes to look for the two of them. Not even five minutes later he staggers back inside, clutching the doorframe and his heart. There are tears in his eyes.
Everyone immediately flocks to his side.
"What is wrong?" Julieta asks and raises an eyebrow when Mariano merely sobs dramatically and points outside amidst stammered blubbering
"Too cute… Can't… Poetic… Gotta write this down!"
The family exchanges knowing glances, very used to their emotional family member that is always filled to the brink with love.
They decide to go outside and look for themselves.
Just like Antonio has said, there are Pedro and Olive. Both are lying on the grass, fast asleep. Pedro is on his back with the little girl cradled in his arms, a content and peaceful smile on both their faces. Drawing materials are scattered around them and Pedro's cheek and forehead sport various colorful doodles which could either be flowers or ancient runes by the look of them.
Either Abuelo Pedro allowed her to draw on his face or he fell asleep first and fell victim to a little girl that spends way too much time with her creative and playful great-uncle.
Whatever led them here, Mariano is right.
The sight is too cute!
The younger generation 'awwww's and 'ooooh's obnoxiously to each other while their parents try to shush them so as not to wake the pair.
Alma is transfixed by the sight. Who would have thought, that she would ever get to see this? Her husband, spending time and relaxing with their great-grandchildren. She will never get tired of this. She will never take it for granted.
But she also knows that Pedro and herself are not getting any younger. They both tire quicker than they used to and they both hurt faster.
She knows that she has to wake him or he will be in a world of pain.
It's with a pang of regret that she crouches down besides them to wake him up, but it is a fleeting feeling. As he opens his eyes and smiles at her, pulling little Olive instinctively closer, she knows that this will not be the last time she will find them like this.
They are both getting older, but there is still so much to see and do and experience with new spouses and new children joining their family.
And they intend to savor every single moment.
They still have time.

What’s Diego family like?
Tumblr media
Okay, La Familia Moreno!
Jovan Moreno
52 years old, Jovan's a jolly man with a deep love for his family. He's a blacksmith and tries to be charming with everyone he meets; to make his own assumption of a person than rely on the opinions of anyone else. To why he befriended Agustin when they met, despite the rumors. he's stubborn af and very protective of those he calls family. Loves Caffeine and cracking jokes. Also, very loud but having beaten metal for decades, it's a habit that his family has, but he's getting Tinnitus in his right ear, very mild
Very excited about his first grandchild-- he's working with his son and a carpenter for the crib (No OC photo available--shame.)
Tumblr media
Beatriz Moreno
Jovan's wife, much quieter and mundane but shares a lot of empathy, much like Julieta but like her husband, has a firm expectation of how she raises her children; in terms of her son; how to view and treat women, and Clara; how to stick to herself and know she doesn't need to marry as soon as Diego.
She's picked up using a louder voice over the years when her husband calls from the other room
Tumblr media
Clara Moreno
She's 15 years old, born January 1935 (2 months before Mirabel), She's the baby of the family and loves to work with materials. Was interested in a job like her father but given it wasn't 'ladylike' for her she was pushed towards a job like Agustin's by her parents. Agustin got her an apprenticeship and she enjoyed working with tough leather than delicate materials more but does both for the sake of her work. She helped make Agustin's leg brace. Like her father, loves caffeine but cares like her mother. She also likes to shout.
She teased Diego a lot growing up but has a few insecurities given how young he found love.
Diego Morano
Heres the link to an earlier ask with a similar vibe

Love the nsfw headcanon of those couples. Can you share sfw headcanon with us too?
I've done encanto headcanons period;
But we can do some couple exclusives! Let's go!
Félix and Pepa!!;
Félix is always looking for romantic stories for Pepa to read. She especially loves the ones that are kinda sad or angsty. He sometimes sits next to her as she reads it, to help her through the inevitable tears. He has an umbrella ready, so she doesn't ruin her book.
Pepa can't fucking cook. Honestly I'd trust Antonio more in the kitchen than her. Thankfully, she married a man who LOVES cooking. If he's cooking, it's what Pepa wants to eat.
They cuddle naked a lot. It doesn't always lead to sex, surprisingly, they're just that comfortable with each other.
Date nights ALWAYS involve dancing. His wife loves to move, and lowkey, she loves looking at his butt as he dances. Seriously, they tear up the floor, and it's not considered a REAL party if they aren't there.
Félix purposely hums songs that are total brain worms. Pepa HATES it because now it's ALL she hears. She says she doesn't wanna talk to him for the rest of the day.
This lasts for five minutes. Seriously, they're barely apart. She makes ANY excuse to be with him, even if it means yelling at him for some random thing he did. Not that he minds.
Pepa has such selective hearing. It's easy for her to jump to conclusions and he has to remind her that no, SHE'S not stupid, her choices are. Like washing his whites with Dolores's headbands.
Pepa isn't exactly. Wife material. At least, not in the conventional sense. She can't cook, can't clean, she hates doing most chores. But she's caring, and does enough with her babies to be, in Félix's opinion, the most wonderful mother.
They have different parenting styles, so they clash sometimes. Pepa thinks it's cute that Camilo got into the candy jar, Félix thinks Pepa is too worried about Antonio liking animals over people.
Augustín and Julieta!!;
Félix's family approved of Pepa IMMEDIATELY. Not just because she's a Madrigal, but the idea of their son marrying essentially a weather goddess? Félix's mom, a well known farmer, is SO proud, and she spoils her grandkids ROTTEN (she calls them all her little clouds, and lowkey her favorite is Antonio. Such a sweet, sweet boy).
Pepa snores like a fucking chainsaw. The first time Félix slept with her, he damn near jumped out of bed because it was so loud and ABRUPT. He thought she snuck a whole ass man into bed with them.
Pepa insists she doesn't snore, even if literally everyone, Alma included, can attest to this.
This trait has transferred to Camilo. First time Félix heard it, he immediately said 'oh fuck there's TWO OF THEM-'
Augustín had more of a hand raising his daughters, technically. Julieta had her fair share, don't get me wrong, but being the healer of a whole town? It sorta forced Augustín to be a stay at home dad. Not that he minded, he LOVES his beautiful, caring, wonderful daughters. Suffice to say, they're all daddy's girls.
They spend a GOOD chunk of time away from each other. They both hate it, but when they meet up at the end of the day, they pamper each other. LOTS of hand holding and massages.
Date nights are usually easy things. Snacks, a nice bottle of wine, candles. He's EXTRA careful with the candles (Mirabel almost caught those decorations on fire-gets that shit from Augustín). It's very sweet, and Isa even sets up the table full of flowers for them.
On the very rare occasions, they go dancing. It's been a while, but Julieta used to love singing and dancing. It always ends with one of them falling for each other. Literally.
Augustín tries so hard to show he loves her. Granted, many attempts end with him getting hurt, just because that's him, but she sees it, and loves him for it.
They hardly argue, but when they do, it's mainly from her constantly worrying. She fusses when the kids get scratches-when she learned, later into their marriage, that Augustín occasionally smokes, it REALLY threw her for a loop.
Augustín and Abuela aren't crazy for each other. Unlike Félix, Augustín wasn't exactly charming enough to immediately win her daughter's hand. They also bicker a lot, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Mirabel. Usually Augustín loves to turn the other cheek, but when he sees Mirabel crying over something she heard Abuela said, Julieta has to interrupt, and rather quickly.
Augustín's parents -ADORED her. They call her Jules, and they always gift her fancy sweets from outside the Encanto. They also love their grand babies to tears, and secretly Mirabel is their favorite.
Augustín and Abuela also argue who makes the best hot chocolate. Julieta hates being the one to choose.
Julieta rubs his ears to help him sleep. She's so gentle, so caring, he just melts into it.
Julieta loves that Augustín and Pepa actually get along GREAT. They're both sort of loud people, and they both love Julieta. Julieta gets along with Félix pretty damn well too- they tend to double date here and there, and Bruno doesn't mind watching the kids while they go out.
Julieta has issues sleeping, while her sister crashes pretty easily. Augustín tries to stay up with her to help comfort her, but suffice to say, he passes out pretty soon into a good cuddle.
It makes Augustín happy when she's deep in sleep, often with Alma singing her a song (seriously her voice is so smooth, she could put the coffee kid to sleep). Even if Julieta kicks him a LOT in her sleep. Seriously, they almost feel personal-

Tumblr media
It was a normal day in the encanto. Everything was running smoothly, especially now that everyone was happier.
Isabela was learning about new plants with the townsfolk, Luisa was sunbathing, Mirabel was hanging out with Camilo, Dolores and Antonio were talking to Bruno about telenovellas and Pepa and Felix were both on a date or doing something lovey dovey.
Julieta was in the kitchen, preparing food as she usually did. Mirabel did question if that was her mother's room- she never saw her leave it unless it was to heal people in town.
Either way, she was cooking whilst her husband was out working, chopping down some trees and collecting materials for something.
Julieta heard a grunt from behind her yet felt large hands ran around her waist and someone lean down on jer shoulder from behind in a loving embrace.
"Hola Mi Vida"
Agustín replied by sighing and leaned on to his Wife, utterly exhausted from the day so far. Julieta only rolled her eyes lovingly at the embrace, hugging him best she could in their positions.
"Hola Mi Amor" He replied after a moment, smiling back down at his wife without letting her look at him just yet.
Agustín was accused in the town as accident prone- not that it was a wrong accusation. When he and Julieta were younger, the two met because of his injuries. He was always accident prone but never once asked for food to help him, he never even spoke to her until his family forced him too because he'd had a broken nose and bee stings all over.
The poor boy was petrified because he'd been crushing on the Madrigal for quite some time. He also thought everyone used her so much, she seemed so wonderful even without her food. The way she smiled- oh her smile. His friends would tease him beyond belief about how they would see him swooning over her, adoration in his eyes.
Even now, decades after the two had been married, he still hated asking her for help. He said she always did enough, she helped everyone else, she was enough for him, every excuse in the book, he just wanted her to know he loved her.
So instead he would make small acts of love: such as this one. He continued to hug his wife from behind, smiling at her as he began to snuggle his face into her neck, giving her tiny kisses making her giggle.
"Are you okay my love?" She asked, wondering what had sent him into such a mood, though she had already assumed he was hurt in some way from hthe sudden hug from behind and large bee stung hands on her hips.
"Mhm... just sending you my love" He hummed into her neck and hair, reminding himself how much he loved her, she made him feel better, he didn't even need the food.
"Agustín, what happened?" She asked, turning her head to look at him as he lifted his head back up, bee stings all over his face.
"I- er..." he laughed nervously and couldn't look her in the eye, so instead pulled his wife in for a gentle kiss.
"Nothing to worry about amor"
"Ay Agustín" love pattered her every word, even as she shook her head and grabbed some food she'd made previously just in case of this scenario.
"Eat" she teased, popping it into his mouth before he could protest and smiling up at him.
The two never separated from their hug, Julieta only turning back to the food as her husband clung to her hips, eating the food as the ingures quickly faded away.
Julieta turned back to her husband to check he was okay, a grin in her fave as she did so, watching him laugh nervously and embarrassed to have to let her help him with his injuries yet again.
"Ay Agustín, if you love my cooking so much I would just give it to you, no meed to hurt yourself" she teased, patting his cheek gently and giving him a kiss there, as though apologising as she had to break their hug. Agustín only blushed but began protesting, though he knew his wife was only teasing him.
"Aye! Then you need to stop cutting down the trees by the bees hijo!" She teased, giving him a little poke in the side after collecting some herbs on the shelf.
Agustín jumped back, chuckling at said poke. His laughter was Julieta's medicine, she loved him so and loved how he would laugh at almost everything she did, whether they were nervous giggles or tickly ones.
"Mi vida, I did but they STILL FOUND ME! no se como me encontraron-" Julieta only laughed at her husband, wiping her hands on a cloth and turning to him with a smile.
"Really?"
"Si Mi Amor! I'm like some kind of Bee Beacon-"
Julieta walked up to her husband and looked up at the man who's cheeks flushed pink as she pulled him into a gentle and tender kiss. He quickly leaned into it, shutting up, but then began to break it slightly as her fingers had moved to his hips and began to gently tickle him.
"Mi Amohor-" He giggled through the kiss, not wanting to break it but having to as she tickled him. Julieta only smiled as his blush grew.
"My love I think you need to be taught a lesson, you need to be more careful!" She teased lovingly, moving up to his sides and stomach, sending him deeper into a pool of giggles.
"IhihI was!"
"Being careful or in need of a lesson?" She teased, working around him and beginning to tickle a little more, his giggles becoming chuckling thiugh he didn't fight her off.
She began to make her way up his ribs where he quickly became much weaker, her gently tickles sending his bones to jelly and laughter pick up. Julieta loved to see the smile on his face, even if he was always getting beaten up and having to eat her food, she still loved him deeply, never truely minding.
She loved how embarrassed he would get to ask her for food, even after decades of marriage and dating, children and more. She loved the way he would have to fix his glasses after being healed, loved the fact he always needed her for her.
She was getting to a very hot spot now, and both adults knew this. She teasingly grinned up at him, hand by his ribs and right under his arms. She gave him a moment to calm down and leaned in for another kiss. Once the two parted she watched as his blush grew even more and have to throw his head back a little as she reached one finger into his armpits.
"Learnt your lesson Amor?" She teased, continuing this one action ss her husband struggled to stay standing. She's decided to be gently and teasing with him instead as he tended to blush and buck more, but they both knew how ruthless she could be if she wanted- after all, she was Pepa's older sister.
"Sí! Shhhsssí" He pleaded, then had to let go and moved backwards to escape the tickles...
Though this action made him walk back into the counter top on the other side, bashing his side and making him yell in pain slightly. Julieta opened her mouth wide in shock, unable to stop the smile from the irony.
Obviously Agustín was okay, it was only a little bash but even so, it shocked him and he rubbed the area, still a little dazed by the tickles, though once he actually realised what was happened, he put a hand up, laughing nervously as his wife approached him.
"Mi corazón- Julieta- I'm fine-"
"Did you not learn your lesson cielo?" Julieta wiggled her fingers teasingly at her accident-prone husband, unable to keep the playful mischievous tone put if her voice as she made him back into the counter again.
"Plehease- Amor I didn't mea-ahahan to! Amor!" Agustín jumped as his wife began to tickle him much more this time, squeezing his sides and pinching his hips gently yet at incredible speed, sending him into a fit of giggles straight away.
There was no more pain, no more worry, only tickles as Julieta tickled her husband, letting him lean on tge counter as moral support and make him yelp with laughter.
"Jujuhulieta! Please Amhohor!" Agustín giggled, hands up and asking his wife nicely. For a moment she gave him hope it would stop, she leaned in and placed her hands on his sides, stopping, giving his cheek a kiss. But as soon as the kiss ended, hands shot into his underarms and made him jump in the air, a yell escaping his mouth before he burst out laughing, much louder this time.
"Agustín, Agustín, Agustín... what will I do with you?" She teased, watching as his glassed fell slightly and sat awkwardly on his face as it lit up pink as laughter escaped his lips.
"I may have to do this until you learn mi abega~" She teased, blowing on his ear and sending him into a giggly fit.
"Nohoho- noohoho- Love I knohohw!"
She brought her hands back down to his ribs and continued her attack for a little longed, but soon let off, giving her lover a loving kiss on the forehead.
"Hmm... fine, but no more chopping trees for you"
"Síhíhí-" Agustín agreed, hugging his waist and giggling at the attack. Julieta walked back over from grabbing some more food and popped ot in his mouth when he looked back up to her.
"I love you" she said, leaning in and looking up at him.
Agustín swallowed the food, but didn't let ot bother him, smiling down at his wife. The one he'd loved for so long, the one he gets to spend his life with, the person he loved most in the world: along with his girls.
"I love you too"

Omg Dolores the smart ass like hey papi, age 7 carrying a fussing baby Mirabel around and Felix asking why she's got the baby and recurving a dour reply that Isa had things to do, the baby WAS napping and Tia Julieta had an emergency so now they're looking for Tia Mami.
The cough hiding a laugh and "Tia Mami?"
"When her Mami isn't here she can share mine," determined tone "especially if it makes her stop crying. "
Felix torn between amusement and pride just okay let's go find her then huh snagging them both up to go find his wife and give her a little bit of hell for their daughters nickname
“Tía Mami” - oh my heart!!!
I imagine Dolores being the best nanny. I mean. She can hear when the baby's breath hitches or when the baby is fussing, so she potentially could react BEFORE the baby starts crying, so she would just fetch the infant and go for a mamá hunt.
Since Julieta would be always in the kitchen/town (for real, poor her! she deserves maternity leaves!), the next mamá material is always Pepa (lmao, she would never think of Abuela).
And baby Mirabel would love her tía Pepa and her, clouds/rainbows!
And I may or may not be headcanoning that Pepa is the one who notices Mirabel is in the need of glasses. Like... She would create small clouds and Mirabel would have problems with catching them or something, which would result in Julieta checking her eyesight and boom! she needs glasses just like her papá!

People really said fuck the kidnapping thing it's now Pepa torture hours
But I do feel like out of the triplets they would torture Pepa the most since her powers are emotion based and she is the scariest and most powerful and hey, if she is beaten and sedated then she can't hurt us right?
But imagine Félix seeing all of that like they just brought his wife in from God knows where and he is happy to see that she is still alive but his happiness lasts for such little time when he sees all the bruises and lighting marks on herself and before he can process anything him and the triplets are bound to lighting rods
When Pepa wakes up and he can finally talk to his wife her voice comes out all raspy and weak and before they can get long in the conversation the captors are back with the guard that was struck by lighting and he is so mad that he doesn't even let her be awake for long before knocking her out again
The guards act all tough but everyone in that room knows that they are terrified of Pepa and with fear comes anger and they don't want to find out what unspeakable things they are able to do to those they fear
I’m sitting at a mild concern at everyone’s desire to see Pepa tortured at the current moment.
I do think that because they’d see Pepa as the biggest threat, if they’re focused on keeping her down, they’d completely underestimate the other two. Like Bruno and Julieta aren’t just gonna sit there scared. Leave them alone long enough and they’re going to try some shit too. Imagine them forcing Bruno to have visions over and over, he manages to snag the materials he needs to have one on his own, so he does with him and Julieta, just to get a tablet and shatter it for the shards. Manage to get Julieta free, and I guarantee to you she’s stronger than your expect after years of hauling around large pot, baskets full of food, or large bags of ingredients because you know she gets them in bulk. She could get some decent hits in now that she’s not caught off guard (like at the beginning). They can be threats too.
But anyways, when Félix sees his wife so injured, man wants to go ballistic, especially if they knock her out again in front of him. I could see him getting ready to fight without even thinking first and the other triplets have to calm him down, and he thinks they’re insane? Calm down? That’s the love of his life and their sister, but they’ve been there longer and know they need to have an actual plan.

Mi Anhelo Por Ti (2)

julieta madrigal x fem!reader
tw: topics and scenes of abuse
“y/n! get back here!”
you bolted out of your home- at least what used to be your home. it was the house you grew up in with your parents. being able to call it home made you feel so safe, but santiago had to ruin that.
santiago hernandez. who you used to call the love of your life turned into your worst nightmare. the honeymoon phase had been the best, but you hung onto it too much. the places he used to kiss you would be covered in bruises and scratches. his loving touch turned dirty and you couldn’t take it any longer.
why were you back running from him? you were sure you had reached a different town and got taken care of by the so called madrigals.
“wake up,” you told yourself.
“wake up!”
“y/n, hon, wake up.”
a sudden grab of your shoulder was enough to make your surroundings morph back to the room you were left in. you jumped and sat up quickly, julieta stepping back carefully. you looked around and let out a sigh of relief.
“oh, y/n, i apologize for scaring you. i just came to wake you up to let you know breakfast will be ready soon.”
a warm smile formed on your face as you responded.
“it’s fine, just a startling dream was all.”
“may i ask what it was?”
you went quiet. you didn’t want to make her uncomfortable or share what had happened anyway. julieta was still a complete stranger, though you felt safe with her. how strange.
julieta grabbed the side of her dress as she felt the awkward tension rise. she didn’t mean to go too far. she came closer to you and placed a pair of clothes down on the bed. she didn’t want you to keep wearing the same ones you have been for the past few days.
“there’s a hot shower running the next room over. you can come down whenever.”
“gracias senora.”
she smiled and turned to exit the room. you noticed a few burn marks on her arm, must’ve been from cooking.

the outfit julieta had given you was comfortable and fit pretty well. you were confused by the large house as you saw windows and floor tiles moving, but amazed at the same time. the front doors were open and you peeked outside to see a few others gathering food and sitting down.
everything seemed so in order, of course you felt out of place. these strangers took you in but why? you weren’t used to such kindness. eventually you figured out what foods were which and made your plate. julieta waved at you from the table and you went to sit next to her.
the table was filled with the rest of the madrigals. you only felt somewhat comfortable with julieta and isabela as they were the only ones introduced to you.
“julieta, where’s agustin?”
the older looking woman that sat at the end of the table asked. you looked at julieta and noticed her tense up a bit.
“oh, he left for work early. i already packed him some food last night.”
she smiled and continued eating her food. you began to eat as you let out a sigh. you hadn’t tasted food this good in forever, it was nice. you felt eyes on you and you knew it was the other people at the table.
from the time you sat there, you picked up on their names and magic they had. it was interesting and something new to you. camilo and isabela’s interactions were hilarious, and you absolutely loved little antonio. felix and pepa just seemed to be in their own world together. they spoke of bruno and claimed he had gone out to run a few errands. you then noticed luisa and dolores helping mirabel eat. you wondered what was wrong with the younger girl, but felt it wasn’t your place to ask.
you finished up your food as you saw the others leaving to attend their duties. julieta quickly sighed and began picking up the dishes. she looked very tired as you noticed the dark circles surrounding her eyes. you didn’t know what to do, and the least you could do is help her out.
you began picking up the empty plates as the other quickly noticed.
“y/n, it’s fine. i can do them on my own.”
that same warm smile she had last night appeared on her face. you found it cute but quickly shook your head “no” in response.
“i want to help, i’ve got nothing to do anyway.”
the older woman’s heartbeat slightly quickened. julieta could tell you were a stubborn one and knew there was no point in arguing with you. you gathered up the rest of the plates and followed her to the kitchen.
there was a comfortable silence between the both of you. the sink surprisingly wasn’t too big so you had to stand close together to wash the dishes. your shoulders touched and the warmth of your skin contacting with julieta’s made her shiver.
“your family is very interesting.”
you were the one to break the silence. julieta looked up at you for a couple seconds before setting her focus back to the plates.
“ha, yeah. my two other daughters were luisa and.. mirabel. i love them with all my heart.”
“your mother mentioned a man agustin. is he your husband?”
the shorter woman stopped scrubbing the plate then resumed quickly. her tone of voice had changed and she didn’t look up at you after that.
“y-yes.. he is. we’ve been married since our late twenties. he’s changed since the fall of casita, though.”
as you were about to ask another question, the older woman from earlier came into the kitchen. you both turned around and julieta quickly changed her expression. you waved and said a quiet “hola,” waiting to see her speak.
“hola, mama. me and y/n were just doing the dishes.”
“ah, y/n. call me alma. i’ve come to tell you that a few of the workers in town will be building you a house for you to live in. you’re very much welcomed and can stay in casita until the house is finished.”
you formed a smile and quickly wiped your hands to be able to take alma’s in yours.
“thank you so much, alma. i deeply appreciate it.”
alma smiled back and nodded. she was happy to be of help to you as she could tell you were a great person. she then left the kitchen and you went back to the sink only to see julieta finished the dishes.
“y/n.. if you’d like you could come into town with me to help out the citizens since you have nothing to do. i also prefer not to leave you alone here.”
“of course! i’d love to.”
you gently squeezed her shoulder and left to go gather your things. julieta stood there beginning to gather up the food she had cooked earlier.
she was confused with herself. you were still a stranger she just met last night. what was this sudden attraction to you? it was wrong. she loved agustin with everything she had, unless she’d been forcing herself to think that. you’ve shown her nothing but kindness. julieta stuck with thinking it was just the excitement of a new friend. she quickly ignored the thought as you came back down with your bag in hand.
there was just no way she could love anyone in that way except for agustin… could there?

A long awaited love pt.3
Tumblr media
The next evening Amelia was feeling back one hundred percent. It was like the fall had never happened. She was standing in her kitchen, trying to wrangle the mess of cactus that had sprouted in her home mere moments before. She was surprised to say the least when tens of spikey plants appeared out of nowhere. She found an old pair of gloves in her hiking backpack and was attempting to pry one of the plants up when she felt the ground shake. Her dishes rattled and she lost her balance, falling back onto her butt. "Shit!" She hissed, knowing it would be bruised later. The shaking stopped as suddenly as it had began but it was replaced by the sound of falling stone. Amelia pulled herself off of the floor and found open the door only to find the street in front of her steps split in half. She looked the direction the crack came from to see the once magnificent casa de Madrigal in shambles, collapsing into nothing but a pile of rubble.
Her eyes widened in shock and her body turned on auto pilot. She turned swiftly, grabbing her bag before picking her way over the cracks along with the other towns people. She can hear the family calling for Mirabel. "Oh no..." Her steps quickened, fear gripping her chest tightly. "No..." When she gets there the first people she sees are Pepa and Julieta, frantically calling for the girl. "Julieta!"
Amelia jogs over to her, wrapping the woman in a brief, tight, hug. "You're okay? Everyone's okay?"
Julieta shakes her head. "We can't find Mirabel... She, she was..." She points back to the remains of the house. "I saw her but then..." Julieta was barely keeping it together at this point. Agustin steps in, grabbing his wife's shoulders tenderly.
"Mi vida... We'll find her..." His voice was soft and much more composed than his wife. He soothed her gently, whispering reassuring phrases to her as they began searching once more.
"I'm gonna go check the hills. Mirabel is quick when she wants to be and I'm one of the faster climbers in town." Agustin nods in Amelia's direction letting her know she was heard.
They searched until dusk to no avail. Amelia had turned back a bit early, not wanting a repeat of the day before. She was approaching town and funds everyone gathering tools and supplies.
"What's going on?" Amelia asked whoever was listening.
"We're going to help them rebuild." A notable merchant responds. "They've always helped us so much. Now it's our turn to return the favor. Si?"
Amelia smiles softly. "Si." She helps gather equipment and materials, joining the parade of people heading to the once beautiful home. Viviana walks alongside her, brows furrowing as they reach the rubble. "What is it?" She follows the other woman's gaze.
"Los dios mios..." Viviana says in a breathy voice. Her eyes are locked on the figure of a short man wearing a green ruana with shoulder length dark hair laced with gray and a stubbly beard.
"Vivi... What are you looking at?" Amelia can feel the panic starting to rise in her chest, worried that something was wrong.
Viviana extends a frail hand, point at the man. "That's Bruno..." Amelia raises an eyebrow. Surely Viviana was joking. There's no way. The man that had been missing for ten years suddenly reappearing?
"Bruno... Like, the one we don't talk about Bruno?" Amelia scans him up and down curiosity. As her eyes wander back up her eyes lock with his for a brief second before she turns back to Viviana quickly.
"The very one."
Amelia was relieved to see Mirabel standing with her parents, Agustin having been attacked by bees from the looks of his swelled features. She took Viviana somewhere safe to sit and help the other elders watch the children before joining the others to start a little of the clean up and to offer housing to any of the family that needed it.
Days passed then a week before anyone realized it. Amelia and most all of the town had been clearing rubble and making plans to rebuild the magnificent home. They had decided that Amelia would be of more help later with the higher work seeing as she had her equipment so for now her contribution was helping Julieta feed the army of workers.
They had an outdoor kitchen area set up where they would make empanadas, arepa, the chicken rice dish she had eaten her first night in town. A practically endless supply of food for the workers. Finally after a week of working around him, it happened. The two women were working away at their station when Bruno approached. He seemed nervous and unsure but happy.
"Hermana, may... May I have an arepa...?" Now that he's closet Amelia can see just how tired the man looked. The bags under his green eyes splotchy and almost purple. She offers a soft smile his direction.
"Of course! Take a few to Agustin and Felix when you go back?" Julieta smiles brightly at him. He nods, grabbing three.
He stands there for another moment before giving them an awkward, "Bye." And turning to walk off.
"So, that's your brother?" Amelia asks casually, eyebrow raised.
"Yes..." Julieta grins. "We thought he had left, disappeared." She shakes her head with a sad laugh as she presses some empanada dough into a small flat disk. "It turns out he was living in our walls."
Well, that answered Amelia's question from a week or so before. "He was living in the walls?" She flips an arepa, confused about how no one had apparently noticed he was there. She didn't press it however as a wave of hungry helpers filed up to the station, making requests and grabbing the already prepared food.
As it slowed down for the day, people heading home as she helped Julieta wash dishes, she noticed Bruno leaning against one of the recently started walls. He was sitting in the grass feeding bits of a leftover arepa to his rats.
She excuses herself for a moment, her curiosity getting the better of her. She snags a few of the meat pies as she walks by. She slowly approaches the man, not wanting to startle him.
"Hello?" Her voice is soft but Bruno still jumps out of his skin. "Sorry! Didn't mean to scare you..." Amelia was truly sorry. "I brought you an empanada...?" She offers it out to him.
Bruno is still recoiled, startled by the sudden appearance of someone else. "You... You were helping Julieta today...right?" He reaches out, taking the empanada gently. Amelia nods and gestures to the ground beside him. "Yeah... Have a seat." He makes a gesture. Amelia sits smiling softly.
"Do they have names?"
"Huh?"
"Your rats. Do they have names?" Amelia repeats herself softly, offering the one closest a piece of her empanada crust which it happily accepted.
"Yeah, I mean, yes." Bruno smiles back at her. "The one you just fed is Mitzy. The gray one beside her is Romeo, and the one beside him is Sir Lorenzo the Third. But I just call him Sir." He points to each rat in turn. Mitzy climbs up onto his hand and up his shoulder where she stretches across to smell Amelia.
"They're cute..." She observes. She reaches over, lightly scratching Mitzy behind one ear.
"Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock on wood." Bruno taps the wall as he recites the phrase, tapping himself in the head on the last one. "I've gotta go. Sorry" he picks up the other two rats and walks away without another word.
Amelia watches him walk off, flinging a handfull of something over his shoulder. From that last display she feels it's safe to assume it was salt. Amelia walks back over to help Julieta finish up the cleaning for the night.

my favorite thing about encanto is how many of the characters are grade a wife material.  isabela.  luisa.  julieta.  young alma.  if we’re being perfectly honest, bruno.

julieta madrigal x fem!reader
tw: topics and scenes of abuse
“juli, can you help y/n watch tonito while me and felix run errands today? we’re planning a party for our anniversary and we need to make sure we have absolutely everything in place. i would have camilo or dolores do it but they seem to have run off somewhere.”
julieta sighed but agreed to do so. it was her day off and she didn’t have any other plans besides relax. she loved antonio, though, so she really didn’t mind.
“of course pepa. where is he?”
“outside in front. i think he’s picking flowers with y/n.”
pepa left to go get felix as julieta sighed. she hadn’t been as tense lately since agustin left on a business trip for his work. this also gave her an opportunity to genuinely apologize to you, and hang out. she somewhat fixed her hair before exiting casita and opened the doors to see antonio running around the yard looking for flowers.
“y/n, y/n! look at these ones!”
antonio brought a bouquet of weeds to you thinking they were flowers. you appreciated the attempt as you chuckled and smiled.
“aw, thank you tonito.”
you turned your head to see julieta smiling. you smiled back slightly. you were still upset from a couple days ago when you confronted her.
“hey, how about you go over there to find some more for tia juli?”
antonio giggled and happily ran over to the area you pointed to. it had actual flowers instead of just weeds. julieta approached you once he left and held her arm as she began to speak.
“hola, y/n. pepa told me to help watch tonito with you.”
you were glad she hadn’t been making it seem awkward and automatically bring up the other day. you did want her to apologize, but you also didn’t want to pressure her to do so. you know how juli is from the time you’ve known her.
she looked at the bundle of weeds in your hand and raised an eyebrow. this made her laugh and your face turned a bit red as she did.
“are those your ‘flowers’?”
“hey- i didn’t pick them. antonio did, cut him some slack.”
you both looked at each other for a couple seconds and laughed together. it was nice being able to laugh with your best friend like this again. julieta’s expression then changed a bit as she struggled to say something. you knew it was going to be her apology.
“y/n, i’m very sorry about the other day, and i’m sorry that i’ve been avoiding you. i just didn’t want to create any further conflict between you and agustin. i don’t want him to attempt anything on you.”
the thought of julieta wanting to protect you gave you a warm feeling in your chest. you were glad she was thinking about you, but isn’t that what she’s always done her whole life? thinking about others? her gift is to heal, after all. when was the last time she thought about herself for once?
“don’t worry about it, juli. thank you for apologizing. again, i’m sorry for being pushy.”
“you weren’t. i know it’s because you care about me, i truly appreciate that, hon.”
blush covered julieta’s face.
“i-i mean thank you, y/n.”
you laughed as you watched her get all flustered. you saw a few flowers nearby and went to go pick them, motioning for julieta to come with you. you inspected them to make sure there were no bugs or hidden thorns on them before picking them, and handing them to the woman.
“here, pretty flowers for an even prettier lady.”
you teasingly winked at her as julieta took the flowers with no hesitation. the blush on her face only deepened as she chuckled. you both stared at each other with warm smiles until you suddenly felt the other’s arms wrap around your upper body. you were shocked for a bit but wrapped your arms gently around her waist.
“tia juli! look, look! i got flowers for you too!”
you both broke the hug even though she didn’t want to, but you didn’t know that. you both looked at antonio as julieta crouched down to reach the younger boy’s height. he handed her the flowers but they were mixed with weeds. a better attempt, you thought.
“thank you, tonito.”
“tia y/n told me to get them for you! i hope i picked out good ones.”
you let out a small gasp hearing antonio call you “tia.” it melted your heart, as it did to juli’s as well.
“well, antonio, tia y/n is teaching you great skills for the future. tell her gracias.”
“gracias, tia y/n!”
the big smile on antonio’s face made you smile more than you were already. he giggled and made his way inside casita since you’ve been out here with him for a while now. julieta stood up straight with more flowers in her hand.
“so, tia y/n, huh?”
“i guess so. just wait until pepa hears about this one.”
you both shared a laugh as you quickly went inside to make sure antonio was behaving. the tension with julieta was gone which you were both very happy about.
—————————————————————
“and so i told pepa, felix wasn’t actually outside, and i had never seen her hair stick up so fast!… y/n?”
with antonio in your lap surrounded by your arms, you both were in a deep sleep. pepa and felix hadn’t been back since the morning. it was almost time for dinner. you and julieta didn’t mind, though, as you both loved little tonito dearly.
your hair was a bit of a mess and your eye-bags were visible. you would think you looked unflattering, but the older woman found that you looked cute. she caressed some stray strands of hair out of your face behind your ear. examining your features, she traced your lips very softly so as to not wake you up.
suddenly she took her hand back.
“ay.. what am i thinking”
julieta’s been having this feeling around you since the second day you came to encanto. it grew after the night with agustin, but why? she considered you her best friend. she didn’t want to ruin the friendship between you two.
hanging out was something she loved. if she could, she’d be around you all the time. isn’t that how best friends are anyway? the flirting moments you would both have with each other were her favorite. that had to be a best friend thing. right?
julieta buried the bottom half of her face in her arms as they rested on her knees. she was careful to not move too much as the bed was a bit small, she didn’t want to wake you up. just then, she heard foot steps.
“antonio? are you in here?”
the nursery door opened carefully, pepa poking her head in. she fully stepped into the room once she saw you and antonio sleeping, along with julieta next to you. this made her form a smile.
“aww, what cuties. i assume he behaved?”
“si, of course pepa. tonito’s a good kid.”
pepa walked over as she gently removed your arms from her child and picked him up. your head then fell on julieta’s shoulder which caused her cheeks to flush.
“dinner’s almost ready, sis. you should wake y/n up soon. unless you’d prefer her over the dinner we made.”
pepa winked at the older woman as she scoffed.
“ah- pepa! get out of here.”
julieta covered her mouth after speaking. she didn’t mean to yell. her sister laughed quietly and left the room. she looked over at you to see you were still asleep. it wouldn’t hurt to stay like this for a few more minutes.
she rested her head on yours and closed her eyes. jeez, she realized how tired she was as she felt like passing out. you both were asleep together until julieta’s eldest came into the room. isabela saw you both together and her stomach began to hurt.
it wasn’t a bad hurt, though. she was actually happy to see her mother look relaxed for once. agustin wasn’t here to interrupt you two or do anything to julieta. you wouldn’t say it out loud, but you too were happy that man wasn’t here. spending time with the older woman created a safe feeling for you. oh if only you knew that it was the same for juli.
isabela smiled and gently shook her mother’s shoulder.
“mami, dinner’s ready.”
julieta woke up with a jump. she saw isabela and sighed. isa mouthed a “sorry” and looked over at you. you were, surprisingly, still asleep. damn you were a deep sleeper. isabela left the room to wait in the hallway. julieta looked over at you and hesitated. she quickly kissed your forehead hoping you wouldn’t wake up.
the woman carefully climbed out of bed and brushed off her dress as usual. she walked out of the room into the hall with her daughter.
“so, what’s up with y/n?”
julieta’s face flushed once again. she made a “shh” sound and crossed her arms as she looked away. her daughter couldn’t possibly think anything of you two.
“nothing, isa. i’m just glad to have a close friend to spend time with. she’s done so much for me as i have for her.”
“uh huh.”
“i’m serious! nothing’s going on, don’t be stupid.”
the mother and her daughter continued walking but stopped the conversation right before getting to the kitchen table. the empty chair next to her would be where you sat, and she wished you were there next to her. but, again, she didn’t want to wake you.
she told everyone what little tonito had called you, which made pepa and felix’s heart melt. alma let out a laugh and everyone else almost had the same reaction. you were growing onto everyone for the time you spent with the madrigals. some even considered you to already be part of the family.

julieta madrigal x fem!reader
tw: this chapter DOES include a scene of abuse
it had been a few weeks since the madrigals took you in. you were happy and felt extremely blessed. after you had settled down more, you resumed your passion for art and began to sell your paintings again. julieta had painted with you and was actually the one who encouraged you to do so.
and there you were in the town square. your stand was set up with a few of your paintings in the back. along with selling your canvases, you let people know you could paint murals and even teach. (the teaching part was inspired from antonio, he loved watching you paint and wanted to learn himself.)
although you were excited for this new experience, you missed being at the healer’s side at her own stand. you and julieta have become closer since the night you arrived. she always gave you a sense of comfort and warmth, you loved that about her. it was nice to be able to call her a close friend so quickly.
“excuse me, are you teaching how to paint? there’s never been a stand like yours and i’m interested.”
you stopped daydreaming and looked up to see a woman that seemed to look around your age. she had deep, tan skin and auburn-brown hair. the first customer to want to learn how to paint!
“yes i do! you’re luckily a first, so there’s no need to pay.”
you began to gather two blank canvases and changed your sign to one that said “teaching in session.” the girl came around the stand as you gave her a paintbrush and a small palette. a variety of paints were laid out.
you explained what to do with blending, different strokes of the brush, and pressure against the canvas. it was a fun experience for the both of you and you continued to paint together once she got the hang of it.
the stranger spoke as she paint. she was curious since she’s never seen you around.
“so what’s your name? i’m catalina but you can just call me ‘cati.’ i know you arrived a few weeks ago, i haven’t gotten a chance to speak with you until now.”
“my name is y/n. yeah it’s been a bit busy for me settling down after my arrival. the madrigals are letting me stay until my house is finished.”
cati smiled and looked at you for a couple seconds before going back to painting. the madrigals were very close friends of hers, specifically julieta.
“i assume you know julieta?”
you smiled and nodded gently. just as you were about to speak, a familiar voice called your name from behind. you turned around to see the woman spoken of. she had a glowing smile on her face as she came with a basket of food.
cati turned around as well and shrugged. without your answer she took it as a “yes” and came up to the healer with you. julieta looked at cati and immediately went to hug her. you stepped back a bit and watched them talk.
“cati! how are you?”
“oh i’m doing very well. y/n here is teaching me how to paint! she’s told me about your family.”
julieta turned to you and gave you a warm smile. ever since you gained your own stand, she came to visit you during her short breaks to bring you food. sometimes you didn’t pack any before leaving, so when she found out she started to pack small baskets of food. or maybe it was just an excuse to see you.
“hello, y/n. i brought you the usual. what time do you think you’ll be back at casita?”
“i’ll most likely be back in a few hours. people usually come to buy and request around sunset, hopefully not too much people.”
you reached into the basket as you pulled out your favorite. the empanadas julieta made were something you really enjoyed, so she loved making them for you.
“oh my god juli, these are so good as always.”
a pink blush spread across julieta’s face from the sudden shortening of her name. it felt right coming from you. thankfully her blush was greatly covered by her dark-tan skin. cati took notice of her mood change due to her body language, though.
“i see you guys have gotten very ‘friendly’ with each other. that makes me happy for you, julieta. you seem better these days.”
the older woman got even more flustered as she knew what cati was doing. that dumb smirk she always had on her face appeared, so she began to take her leave before anything further happened.
“well, y/n, i’ll be seeing you later if it’s not too late. goodbye to you too, catalina.”
julieta quickly walked away as she crossed her arms. you and cati shared a laugh and she continued to speak.
“julieta is wonderful, don’t you agree?”
“yes, of course. she’s the sweetest woman i’ve ever met. i don’t think anyone works as hard as she does, either.”
“ay, but her husband is the worst! that man always has something to be upset about.”
you raised an eyebrow at the statement. you have noticed agustin never seemed truly happy or relaxed. he also gave you dirty looks from time to time whenever you would be with julieta. what was his problem? jealousy, perhaps.
—————————————————————
“thank you, y/n! i’ll for sure be coming back!”
you waved goodbye to cati as you finished cleaning up your stand. you set the paints back into your bag and all the supplies in a separate box. your work went later than expected, but you were glad you’d gotten several commissions from the townspeople. it was dark and a bit cold as you walked through the streets of encanto. it was calming and the faint lights from lit candles made the setting much better.
a sigh left your mouth as you carefully opened the door to casita. you knew everyone was most likely asleep by this time, (except for julieta), so you tried your best not to wake anyone. your dropped your stuff by the stairs to get it later since you wanted to get some water before heading to sleep. then, you heard glass break.
“julieta, why do you always have to ruin things!?”
“corazon, por favor, i’m sorry i didn’t mean to i was just distra-“
agustin slammed his fist on the hard countertop. you felt the vibration against the wall you were hiding behind. an argument this late at night? especially between these two. they would always seem so in love during the day.
“you’re always distracted nowadays! are you gonna continue being distracted? especially for mirabel? that girl barely remembers who i am and basic functions!”
“agustin, you’re going to wake the kids. especially dolores.. she could be listening right now.”
“i don’t care anymore, i never did! it should’ve been you under all that damn rubble.”
you gasped quietly as you watched everything unfold. should you intervene or would that just make things worse? you didn’t want to but something was telling you to do so.
“you don’t mean that! mi amor please, stop this! i miss us.”
“don’t call me that!”
agustin grabbed julieta by her shoulders and forcefully pushed her back against the stove. she didn’t want to fall backwards so she placed her hand behind her onto the hot surface. a yelp came from her and even more tears began to run down her cheeks.
that’s what did it.
“hey, agustin! let go of her!”
agustin and julieta turned their heads to look at you. the scared and confused expression on the woman’s face was enough to make you even angrier at agustin. he looked shocked and even a bit scared.
“y/n, it’s not what it looks like i-“
“go upstairs or i’ll go up there myself and get alma. don’t expect me to just brush this off.”
agustin let go of julieta and scoffed. his fists were clenched and as he walked out he mumbled to himself. but of course, he didn’t want to get caught, so he looked at you with threatening eyes. this caught you off guard but you quickly walked over to the injured woman.
her hair was a mess and the tears that rushed from her eyes began to form a small puddle on the tiles. she was shaking and held her arm with the wound on her hand. this was a side of her she did not want you to see, especially so early in your relationship. it scared her because she knew her husband would punish her for it- but another side of her thought you would protect her which brought a sense of relief.
you wrapped an arm around her and carefully grabbed her wounded hand. you bit your bottom lip and sighed. maybe if you’d gotten here earlier? or stepped intervened right when they were yelling? you looked around to see if there was any food she’d made but the only food you saw were burnt arepas on the counter.
“juli, what happened?”
“i… i was cooking for agustin and i wasn’t paying attention. he had a hard day and work and he asked-“
“he asked or told you to?”
the injured woman looked up at you with watery eyes. there was a sense of pleading and fear in them. your question only made her sobbing worse as she slid down on the floor, crying into your chest as you too slid down with her. you gently rubbed her back to comfort her while thinking of how to go about this. suddenly julieta spoke, so you didn’t need to do anything.
“he’s been like this.. ever since mira got lost in all the rubble when casita fell. she ended up in a short coma, but the damage to her brain was severe. he started treating me as if it was my fault.”
she paused for a few seconds in an attempt to not make the sobbing even worse.
“…and it is my fault.”
julieta just cried and cried into your chest while in your arms. from what you know, casita fell at least a year ago. she’s been treated like this for that long? you took your free hand and cupped her cheek, wiping her continuous tears.
“juli it is not your fault. you’re only thinking that way because he’s convinced you that it is. trust me when i say it’s no one’s fault that mirabel is this way.”
her crying slowed as she caught her breath. your words felt like a tight hug that she’d been longing for. you saw yourself in her face due to your experiences with santiago. this was the same situation you used to be in. you removed your hand from her cheek and let her head rest against your chest, beginning to talk.
“i know you’ve been wondering why i ran from my old town and came here. it’s almost because of what you’re going through.”
your voice became shaky and the older woman took notice of that. she took your hand in her uninjured one in an attempt to comfort you. a small smile formed on your face as you continued.
“i lived with my ex-husband santiago. we were really close and i truly loved him. i don’t know why but he would begin to push me away and hit me and yell. i don’t know what i did but i was always convinced it was my fault.”
you removed one of your arms from her waist as you put it in front of her. you pulled your sleeve up to reveal a large scar that covered your forearm. you felt julieta tense up and heard her small gasp.
“he was yelling at me one night and he pushed me against his workbench. my arm hit the woodcutter and he didn’t even care. he left because he assumed i would tell the doctor.”
julieta gently grabbed your arm and traced your scar with her finger. this made you shiver a bit but you found it comforting.
“i’m sorry y/n. you didn’t deserve that. i’m glad you could tell me, though. i didn’t mean to seem pushy about it before.”
“it’s alright.”
you placed your arm back around her waist and noticed casita brought a bandage wrap along with a burn treatment over to you. you grabbed them and shifted so that julieta was now facing you. your faces were only a few inches away from each other.
you took her injured hand and gently spread the burn treatment over it. she sharply sucked in air and winced as you let out a quiet “sorry.” julieta placed her forehead against yours while you wrapped the bandage around her hand. she wasn’t able to make any more food to heal herself because there weren’t enough ingredients, so she’d have to go into town early to buy some.
at this point she was sitting on your lap, arms wrapped around your neck. you rested your hands on her waist and let the comfortable silence continue. all you did was stare at each other like that’s all there was to do in the world. her warm breath hit your lips as yours did to hers.
you were feeling perfectly fine, but julieta felt sick to her stomach. it wasn’t a sick feeling though, it was the feeling of butterflies and much more. this moment with you made her feel like there was no one else. just the two of you.
“julieta? are you down there? i heard a crash.”
the both of you immediately got up and rushed to the other side of the house. alma was coming down and she didn’t want her mother to see her hurt. you grabbed your things and led her upstairs once alma was in a different room.
you entered the nursery where you’d been staying and set your things down. julieta carefully closed the door behind her and watched as you set up a makeshift bed on the floor.
“julieta i don’t want you to continue sleeping with agustin. it’s not safe, i don’t want anything else to happen.”
she sighed and nodded with a smile. a wave of relief washed over her as she watched you sit yourself on the makeshift bed.
“you don’t have to sleep down there, i can just take that instead of the bed.”
“it’s alright, i can manage.”
julieta climbed into the bed and laid there facing you. she fiddled with the fabric of her pajamas and let out a sigh.
“so are you gonna turn around and let me change, or is it something you want to see?”
“ay, y/n!”
the older woman covered her eyes and blushed in embarrassment as you laughed and quickly changed into your own pajamas. you’d been teasing her quite often and it entertained you. julieta always found it annoying, but she didn’t hate it.
you blew out the candle that lit up the room. just as you were about to lay down on the makeshift bed, julieta grabbed your wrist gently. she didn’t have to say anything for you to know what she wanted. you felt your heartbeat quicken slightly and hesitated before climbing into the bed with her.
you faced each other with her hand resting on your waist. you gave her comfort and that’s what she needed right now. your hand moved onto the back of her head as you massaged it gently. the little snores that came from her let you know she was asleep.
this was something you never experienced. you considered julieta a close friend, but is this what having a close friend felt like? it had to be. a smile formed on your face thinking about it. just being able to call julieta a friend was something that made you happy. you closed your eyes and fell asleep shortly, the thought slowly fading from your mind.
