This is the only known film created for Edison's Kinetophone that has a surviving soundtrack. The Kinetophone was an amalgamation of the Kinetoscope (a device for playing film in a personal viewer) and a phonograph that could play back recordings on wax cylinders. Unfortunately, kinetophones were unable to synchronize the footage and audio during playback. These two recordings weren't digitally synced until the 90's (courtesy of legendary film editor Walter Murch)!

What started as "I want to make a YouTube video essay explaining what the Hays Code is" has quickly become "I can't explain the Hays Code in a vacuum, let's make an entire series explaining the comprehensive history of film censorship in the United States."

Premonitions Following an Evil Deed (1995) by David Lynch

For the anthology film Lumière and Company (1995), 41 directors were tasked to make a short film using the 1890 cinematograph camera invented by the Lumiére brothers (a version of Edison’s kinetoscope).  The short film could be no longer than 52 seconds, have no more than 3 takes and would be edited in camera.
