Aigoo, let’s do this one last time. My name is Mirae Jae. Friends call me MJ. My great great grandmother was bitten by a radioactive spider— and then nothing happened for a few generations. Until the day I woke up and found out I could punch through walls?? Nobody told me superpowers are genetic, but hey I’m figuring it out. For the past year, I’ve been the one and only: Spider Dancer. It’s been wild! I stopped some robberies, finally beat my Uncle Beom at baduk, and fought off this ugly green guy. I come from a long line of folk entertainers, so fighting crime isn’t really something that comes naturally. Sometimes I wonder why this inheritance chose me. But I have it now, so I might as well put it to good use right? And who says I can’t have some fun with it along the way?
This isn’t turtle related, but I made a spidersona inspired by samulnori and pungmul (types of Korean drum performances). This movie has a vice grip on me.

Hanbok (Joseon Korea) Mermaid… octopus?
Okay so I might have seen a clip of a dumbo octopus being adorable and hanbok-skirt shaped and got a little carried away. I based this on the fashion of Korean-Joseon Royal ladies, semi-specifically the Royal Wives because I love the most elaborate versions of their hairstyles/headdresses. The shapes are just so exciting. (A long time ago I did a bunch of research into it and at one point they were made all of hair (horse hair and real hair) …but it was so heavy it was made safer by being made out of wood. Historical fashion is wild and I love it dearly). I tried to make references to the mermaid-ness of her life by hiding little shell and starfish inspired details. What do you think?

When AI is so prevalent everywhere nowadays that even Death starts to invest in cheap grim reaper robots /j (that keep eventually gaining sentience and becoming spiteful and lost spirits but shhhh, that's too much lore)
Inspired by the Korean folk lore of Death: 저승사자- a psychopomp deity who's job is not to judge or kill, but to simply guide newly deceased souls to the afterlife. They are traditionally depicted wearing a black (한복) hanbok with a black (갓) gat.

And as I promised, here are my Kong Kong and YD designs, cute versions!
I’ll probably make more drawings about the Korean CCs in the QSMP but in a different art style.
Hope you like them! 💜

Here’s Cole in a hanbok!! Ninjago takes inspiration from many places, but it probably takes the most inspiration from East Asia, particularly Japanese and Chinese cultures. I’ve seen many drawings of the Ninja in kimonos and occasionally hanfu, so I wanted to draw Cole in a hanbok, or Korean traditional clothing. Korea is another East Asian country between Japan and China, so I thought it would be cool for him to wear another kind of traditional clothing.
