suo hayato - martial arts rant
(minor plot spoilers for up until episode 4/chapter 8)
(all the stuff here also otherwise spoil suo's fighting style which you first see at ep 5/ch11-12)
now do you see this? (from ep 5)
Tumblr media
and this (chapter 12)
Tumblr media
so I have some experience in martial arts, like im a black belt in zendo ryuu karate do (a decently niche style of karate and like I also did a bit of jiu-jitsu, tho no competitions for any of these) but anyways this feels wrong.
now I don't claim to know all there is about martial arts but um. given the power behind even the weakest of punches (and kanumo (the opponent) survived shishitouren during its extremist phase so he can't be that weak), putting your hand in front of an incoming fist is a recipe for disaster and so much pain. the same can be said for attempting to... grab (??) the fist from above with your palm and your extended fingers, like you can see in the panel.
my poor, abused, tendinitis-ridden arms feel the pain for you, suo, please stop it.
we know from the manga, that suo isn't one of the people with "monster strength" (and those people also shouldn't be doing moves like this but I'll assume that monster strength also comes with insane muscle support on their arms/forearms/hands and they're also not trained in martial arts so whatever. let them make their mistakes since it doesn't hurt them that much) because suo is never described as having "monster strength" so him doing this is just off.
but, dee, you might say, this is a fucking manga/anime about teenage gangsters were you expecting realism??
as of episode 5 / chapter 12 (?), suo has confirmed that he's dabbled in mixed martial arts. you cant have him making these sort of mistakes for the shits and giggles.
and these feel like a decently basic mistakes, too. i asked my brother his opinion on this as a blue-belt in karate and he agrees with me that suo is off here. i asked my bsf (who has like a yellow belt in taekwondo but hasn't practiced martial arts in like nearly a decade) on an opinion on people using their palm to block an incoming punch and he thought that's weird. I asked google and even fucking wikihow disagree with the palm thing.
like. use your opponent's momentum against themselves yes. but also.
nowhere is there a mention of stopping the momentum with your palm. your fucking palm??? hello??? or stopping the momentum by grabbing the fist like that?? who grabs a fist from above😭😭 suo look at your goddamn wrist. joints are scared of you.
out of the top of my head, suo is in danger of breaking his fingers or spraining/breaking his wrist or fucking up his elbow, or some funky combination thereof. and he's also definitely getting in some sort of trouble with his tendon. but c'est la vie, ig.
and btw. he has pulled this off correctly a few times in the manga.
chapter 11
Tumblr media
in the bottom right corner you see him deflecting properly and safely. and then rushing ahead to get out of Kanuma's range (wouldn't want a falling Kanuma to grab him on his way down lol). no clue what his left hand is doing tho. even if he was attempting to assume a ready stance. what the hell is his elbow doing that high? and why is his palm open and looking away from him? fuck if I know, this doesn't look like karate but there are like thousands of schools of karate with different variations so who knows. it's vaguely giving king fu or jiu jitsu but take this with a grain of salt.
or this from chapter 68. also correct technique. don't come at me for spoilers btw, I've literally given you zero context.
Tumblr media
tho to be fair, I'm a little confused as to the angle that he's hand is at? like it seems like his torso is in front of the punch (which vaguely makes sense because the other guy can presumably aim towards center mass aka torso), but like suo should already be moving his torso away so his arm shouldn't be reaching out from that angle. whatever. I'll forgive this. it's super minor.
10/10 for just grabbing the damn wrist instead of what he was doing before.
tho once again to be fair, I'm also a little confused about what his free hand is doing once again but whatever. and how did the other guy lose his balance? idk suo tagged at his punching arm hard ig. and giving the "whap" sfx then he might have somehow hit the other dude's leg? certainly not with his free hand cause given his stance, he's still not low enough to hit the foot or shin of the other guy (which is what the panel insinuates). possibly suo used his front leg? whatever. still better than before.
nii satoru (the mangaka) so far seems great, because windbreaker has a nice plot and a fun, diverse cast of rather realistic teenagers (given the plot). he does seem to have a weakness when it comes to official martial arts styles, though, and that transferred towards the animation, as well.

Incoming rant about The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Herlock Sholmes from The Great Ace Attorney, and the BBC Sherlock (no major spoilers ahead I promise).
A preface before I begin; I was never a big fan of Sherlock Holmes or any adaptation of the stories. I've seen Elementary although I was very young so I only have the vaguest of memories of enjoying it, and my roommate had me watch a couple BBC Sherlock episodes when I was a tween/young teen. My mother claims she tried to get me into Sherlock Holmes but I'm rather skeptical. Anyhow, onto the story.
Back in March my boyfriend bought me the Ace Attorney games for my birthday which included the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (or Dai Gyakuten Saiban for those who are still stuck on the pre-localization names ;p). I was on my flight home from my birthday trip after I got the news my manager fired my brother while I was out of the state and figured why not, I'd start playing the first TGAA game on the flight. I'd probably enjoy myself and I couldn't sleep.
Second biggest mistake of the year (first biggest was trusting Les Schwab to do my brake job). I. Was. Hooked. I played the first case and fell in love with Kazuma instantly (he's so Zero shaped!). I played the second case and realized that calling him Zero shaped was way too accurate. We all know what happened there. Most important to this rant, I met Herlock Sholmes (more on my opinions on him later). I could barely put the game down but I had to take a break due to finding a new job and getting adjusted. I ended up finishing the game in June or July, one of the two. I finished the final case of the first game in one long 12 hour gaming session it was that good (my back didn't thank me though).
Now, the man of the hour: Herlock Sholmes. I didn't think much of him initially. He was simultaneously charming and annoying in the second case but as I played more he grew on me. I cried when the start of 1-5 happened. He clawed his way up into like the top 7 favorite characters at the time. The ending of the game with him playing his violin made me bawl my eyes out. I. Loved. This. Game.
It took a few more months to start and finish the second game. In between Adventures and Resolve I played Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, and some others so I had a healthy break. I came back to play Resolve and finished it like two months ago. It hit me in the gut just as hard as the first game did although there are a great many things I'd tweak and do differently. But Herlock Sholmes... man, he's not my favorite but he's up there underneath Kazuma and Van Zieks.
Anyhow, I finished the game but the hyperfixation had started and would not let me go. I've never been one to go out and seek fanfiction due to... personal stuff but I had a feeling I didn't want to go probe the depths of AO3 yet for fear of crying. I started a graveyard shift at my job which severely limited my ability to talk with people about stuff and also there's so many major spoilers but very few people I knew had played the game. A thought occurred to me, however. What about Sherlock Holmes audiobooks? I have an auditory processing issue which has made listening to audiobooks hard but I decided to give it a go. Perhaps it would satiate the TGAA hyperfixation hunger.
I found the ones produced by Magpie Audio, expertly narrated by Greg Wagland. Go check him out, he has over 77 videos of Sherlock Holmes audiobook recordings and all of them are a minimum of 40 minutes, often times far more. I went through over 30 hours of audiobook in a few weeks listening to these. Sherlock Holmes is such a good character and I can understand how and why he took late Victorian England by storm. And you know what the best part is?
Herlock Sholmes is the most faithful adaptation I have personally seen as a character of the original Sherlock Holmes.
They got so many of Sherlock's little idiosyncrasies right and you can tell the entire team were genuine fans of the books. I listened to Mr. Wagland's narration *and I saw 221B Baker of the games*. Especially the jack knife impaling the communications to the mantle being referenced in the game? The sheer mess of the flat? It's so good!
My roommate (whom is also a Sherlock Holmes fan) noticed my newest hyper fixation that spawned off of TGAA and that reignited his Sherlock Holmes obsession. He was a fan of the BBC Sherlock and now recognizes it was not a very great show but it's a comfort media for him nonetheless. He just dragged me into rewatching it and... okay, it's playing into a lot of inaccurate Sherlock tropes I don't like but goddamn Martin Freeman carries the whole show. I love his John Watson because it feels like a reasonable version of a modern, younger Watson. He feels real in a way. I do like the fact that even in the first episode, it's established that John and Sherlock can make each other laugh and smile just like in the books. I don't forgive them calling Sherlock a sociopath, however (speaking as someone with a brother that has been diagnosed with being a high-fuctioning sociopath). He's AuDHD to the max and deserves recognition in that department.
All of this to say, I can trace my current Sherlock hyperfixation back to Mega Man. Finding Mega Man in 4th grade led to watching the Ace Attorney anime in late 2021 which led to playing The Great Ace Attorney and that led to listening to Sherlock Holmes. I don't know why I decided to make this post but maybe I might start live blogging this shit? All in all, this is going to be a wild ride.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/55890415/chapters/141920194
Huh. I wrote almost 10,000 words in less than a week. When the brainrot hits, it really fucking hits.
WARNING, POST GAME SPOILERS, CONTINUE AT OWN RISK! (And if you do click the link, y’know, mind the tags)
Anyways, hello In Stars and Time fandom! Look what I just finished up earlier today~ For those who don’t obsessively check ao3, it’s a little series I’ve made about Siffrin post-canon having some time loop trauma manifesting as getting stuck in just repeating his lines (well, most lines are his, hehe) and going semiverbal. This here is a prequel to the smaller fic “Line, Please” which is the same basic premise, but later chronologically (so the fam isn’t quite as freaked out).
Do mind the warnings, this is a trauma response after all, but what can I say? For as much as I like to break characters open and see them bleed, I also adore some hurt/comfort and recovery. I think this game and fandom ought to understand, Change is destruction, but can be good too.
… and I wasn’t sure whether to go into it on ao3 or if it’d be weirdly personal and TMI, but fuck it. This was partly inspired by me going nonverbal about a week prior to “Line, Please.” It doesn’t happen to me often (I could count the times on one hand), but the mortal terror and sheer, prolonged dread of hearing people talk about imminent tornadoes all day, hurriedly packing as much as you can into a bag and going to the closest thing you have to shelter only to realize it is closed, it will not accept you, you cannot get in, desperately looking for anywhere else and slowly realizing you have no good options… Well, good news (for me at least), it missed us. I didn’t lose my life, car, apartment, or anything I owned. But turns out an entire day of slowly building terror and helplessness will fuck up your mental state. Im lucky that was the worst though.
… so yeah.
Anyways! Back to fic, there’s a nonzero chance I’ll somehow manage another insane bout of productivity next week, but there’s also a nonzero chance I will once more fall off the face of the earth for months (for more details, see the unnecessarily long author’s note on chapter 3, but good news! Job’s been confirmed, YA GIRL WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE INCOME!!! NO STARVING! YAY!)
Hope y’all have enjoyed, and sorry not sorry for the rant. You chose to click Read More, I wash my hands of responsibility /hj (but seriously, thanks for reading and have a good day).
And zero pressure, especially since I really don’t put too much on there, but link to Kofi.

yandere alphabet for chop top please??
🥀Yandere Alphabet-Chop Top Sawyer🥀
Tumblr media
THANK YOU THANK YOU PATTING YOU ON THE HEAD ANON HE'S BEEN INFECTING MY HEAD ALONG WITH NUBBINS
Tumblr media
!Warnings!: yandere trope, spoilers for Tcm2, stalking, obsessive behavior, violence, murder, manipulation, cannibalism, sadism, mentioned violence towards darling, forced affection, threats
Yanderes are OK in fiction. They should stay fiction. They are not example of healthy relationships. These behaviors are NOT okay in real life. This is for entertainment purposes
-----------------------------------------------------
Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?
He's very intense when it comes to showing affection. Always all over you, grabbing at you, always needing to touch you in some way. The very few times when he's not he's pacing around rambling about how much he loves and admires you. Or he's shoving an item he thinks you'll like in your face, not bothering to clean the bloodstains of the poor victim he snagged it from off.
Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?
He's a cannibal. His whole family are cannibals too. Need I say more? Blood, guts, bones, all of it! He's more than happy to kill someone for you! More than happy to try and feed them to you too.
Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?
He'll keep you cooped up in his room, giving you basic nessecities. Any cries and protests from you make will be met with smart-ass comments, jokes, or him just giggling at you and making mocking gestures.
Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?
Yep, he'll force feed you food that's almost guaranteed to contain human parts, forced acts of affection like hugging and small pecks, cuddling if he feels bold enough to do so.
Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?
He's pretty open, often unintentionally, he just rants about whatever is on his mind, sometimes about you, sometimes stories about his brother, existential crises, or sometimes just honest to god nonsense. He isn't one to think before he talks.
Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?
He finds it pretty funny. You think that's gonna actually going to get you anywhere? Mocking your attempts, treating it like a game.
Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?
It's a game to him. A challenge. Don't think that means he'll go easy on you. He's still trying to keep you from escaping, he'll slash at your legs, your back, trying to incapacitate you. He sees it as a game because he's confident he'll win. Until he's not. That's when he drops his joking attitude.
Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?
The whole thing is hell, but there's a few moments that will certainly be burned into your brain. One being the burning feeling on your skin as you were so close to escaping, only for him to wrangle you back into their home.
Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?
He's thought of many things. Many little delusions bouncing around in his head. The only thing he has set in stone in his mind is simply having you by his side, hopefully as somepoint willingly.
Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?
Very jealous. He'll lash out. Incoming mail! A swift sledgehammer to the person's head!
Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?
He acts like an excited rabid dog. Raving on about how much he adores you, how you're his fave. He likes dragging you around the tunnels of the abandoned amusement park too, showing you off to his brothers. Seeing you as something worthy to brag about.
Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?
I'd barely call it courting. An approach, well, it sure is one. He's very blunt and upfront, just kidnapping you pretty quickly. However if he were to try and court you beforehand it would involve a lot of gift giving.
Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?
Not really. Besides that facts he's more affectionate.
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
He'll do whatever he knows scares or upsets you, wether it be shouting, showing you a horrific sight, injuring you, taking away what little privileges you may have earned. It also depends on what you did as well.
Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?
Essentially all of them. You can earn maybe a few small ones, but major ones are gone.
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
His patience can switch on a dime, depends on his mood, the day, and what buttons you press. So I'd say he has a mild amount of patience.
Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?
If you leave and or escape he's searching everywhere for you, hounding his brothers about it too. Even if it takes him years. If you die.. he won't move on. He won't accept it. He'll keep your corpse and talk to it. Just like he did with Nubbin's body.
Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?
The most he'll ever feel is a tiny bit of pity, but guilt? No and no. He'll never willingly let you go.
Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?
A mix of his childhood and upbringing in the sawyer household along with curiosity.
Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
He finds it cute in a sick way. Using it as an excuse to get pyshcially close to you, under the guise of trying to comfort you. That's what good partners do right? Comfort each other?
Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?
Well, cannibalism.
Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?
There's none I can particularly think of. He's practically glued to your side. Only time you could really sneak off is when he's off killing or having a spat with his brothers.
Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?
Yep, especially if you're trying to escape.
Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?
He worships the ground you walk on. He'd go great lengths to keep you. He dosen't care as much for winning you over, but he definitely would still make an effort to do so.
Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?
At most maybe a couple months.
Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?
Unintentionally, most likely.

I cannot stop thinking about how one of my wips feels like The Happiest of All on steroids (at least to me).
Full disclosure, the Rant is incoming (no spoilers). I just have to share this with someone and this is my blog damnit I do what I want.
Tumblr media
I'm going to put Derek though an emotional grinder like goddamn. I'm going to have him shaking with tremulous hope but also have him on edge from everything Stiles is doing.
Stiles is going to face the reality of his actions and the truth about who he is and where he stands with it and what love will force him to do.
Stiles' big decision is going to be a lot more difficult for him to make than I thought. I'm writing him and with each page I'm like holy fuck this is going to be so painful for you, kitten.
THoA was, like, a little haha plot, a silly "what if". This motherfucker feels more complex. Lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling kind of complex. Sterek is still unhinged, obsessed and all that jazz, I can't write them any other way, but holy shit.
There's more smut. With Feelings. They're so horny.
It all started with an anonymous simple haha question. I hope you, anon, will read it when it's done and realise what kind of monster you've created.

okay i'm sorry for the incoming rant but i need to get it out of my system ( spoilers for greedfall , idk ) .
i know that people have written about this already but the tragedy that is constantin and his relationship with de sardet .. where do i even begin ? multiple entries in his codex tell us that he values de sardet more than anyone . his dearest cousin , his only childhood companion ( that we know of ) , the one he relies on and the one who shields him from all he perceives is evil . he may be used by his mother for her to gain more influence at court and his father may seem disappointed by his actions but de sardet is always there by his side , making his small world a little better . and because we know so little yet so much at the same time , my mind tends to wander and think about how their youth was .. when they trained with kurt , who was better at it ? did they make secret bets about who'd lose to him this time ? did they ever try fighting side by side ? when studying under sir de courcillon .. how was it ? we know that he taught them well but .. did they always pay attention ? did they ever skip class , hiding from the servants . did they ever pass each other notes during lessons , make faces at each other , scribble things on paper that only they would understand ? just imagine dinners with their family where they tried their best but always cracked a smile at one another , sweets stolen from the royal kitchens shared in secret , sleepovers .. and so much more , whatever else comes to your mind . when petrus told my character that instead of showing interest in his magical talent , he preferred to chase constantin around with a wooden sword , something inside of me broke and never healed . because at the end of the day , de sardet is truly his only friend . a friend he's so afraid to lose and .. in his mind , is losing . you can see it through the course of the story , constantin getting more and more desperate . desperate to keep the only person he truly loves in his life . de sardet slipping through his fingers with each passing day . they make new friends , connections , fall in love .. they travel the land and get to experience it all . yes , de sardet is still there for him but .. after they leave the governor's palace , he's left alone . alone with his thoughts growing darker and darker as his illness slowly takes over , the fear of death gripping his heart . surely he can't die . surely he can't be all alone . surely de sardet , the only person he can truly trust , will save him . but then the cure comes , in a form he'd never imagine ; twisting his features and bonding him to the land . and so the desperation grows , the anger grows , everything is too much . constantin asking his dearest cousin to give him more time , to trust him , breaks my heart every time i play through this game . the " but for you , for us " is such a raw and powerful line , because at the end of the day .. it is just them against the world . two young people who are so dependent on one another , who had to lift each other up from a very young age , who , in constantin's eyes , now pleading you to join him , can rely on no one but themselves ..

Watching Castlevania: Nocturne and Olrox is about to give me a stroke— unstructured rant incoming (spoilers I guess for up to episode 4)
Brother why have they stuck you in a suit. Why is your name Olrox. In what world does this even sound like Nahuatl (if we were doing that shouldn’t the X be pronounced like an sh??). Yes I know they took it from the games but come onnnnnnnn
Like I appreciate the amount of detail in Anette’s connection to the Orisha, which I also know is imperfect. But idk, I’m holding out hope that this Quetzalcoatl mf will get some more time to shine. I want him to go crazy go stupid on any Spaniard he sees (Fuck Cortés!). I did like his line about gods and demons and how gods still hold power even if the church doesn’t call them that, but I also have to squint at it because the neopaganism is poppin’ recently and you gotta watch out.
Praying that this isn’t just Black Panther 2 all over again where Mesoamerican religious identity is just pancaked into a mush of “lol what’s the difference between Maya and Aztec?? What do you mean there’s other people in Central America???” They get some points for not making him like, Huitzilopochtli tho, but I would argue that if you wanna be specifically Aztec and not go for that Pan-Mesoamerican soup he probably would have been a better choice because the Mexica that would go on to become the aztecs did care about Huitzilopochtli a lot more than everyone else did. Quetzalcoatl is a good representative if you wanna just embody postcolonial Mesoamerican rage, but I will sit here and stew about it because man we really get nothing that even tries a little and I am worried about him.
Anyway I’m gonna tinker with his character design because this besuitted twunk is getting on my nerves. I want to see notes from whoever designed him. What was that room like I just wanna know

i was wondering if you could talk a little bit about why you don’t like marva? (loved the new chapter of don’t say you love me)
Hoo boy, where do I begin? Put under a read more for spoilers, and for the anti-Maarva rant incoming.
First and probably biggest reason is the kidnapping. Drugging and taking a child from his community and his only remaining family, a child who's terrified, who's clearly never seen technology like theirs before, who doesn't even speak their language... She's quite literally the textbook example of the white savior trope, and most baffling of all, this is portrayed as a mostly positive thing. (Well, not even mostly. Other than Cassian still looking for his sister and their relationship being strained, I struggle to see where the show called out Maarva for her actions because well. It didn't.)
Then there's the way she treats Cassian after that. She's belittling, dismissive, borderline emotionally abusive, constantly puts him down and talks down on him, always criticizes him... She treats Bee kinda shitty too, mind you (for example snapping at him to shut up rather cruelly if you ask me.) Then she abandons Cassian when he needs her the most because now she suddenly cares about fighting the empire? And once again, it's portrayed as this selfless heroic act because I guess fighting the Empire is more important than anything. Fine, if that's what you wanna go for. Except that she doesn't fight them. She doesn't do anything, and this "noble" act of sacrifice is completely meaningless. It does nothing else but hurt Cassian. She took this child from his home, never took accountability for it, never treated him right as a mother, and now when he has no one else left and he's just begging her to go with him because despite everything, he does love her and he doesn't want to be alone and he doesn't want her to be in danger... she turns him away? And for what? So she can stay on Ferrix, sick and stubborn and refusing to take her medication and just being a nuisance to everyone? So she can die alone a month later without having any closure with her son? Okay. Makes sense. Oh wait, I forgot. She makes a speech. Groundbreaking.
What's especially annoying to me is that the narrative fully takes her side and never bothers to call her out on any of this. Yes, some people just don't have good mothers, and that'd be fine as a story, even though I'd still dislike her, but what makes me hate her even more is that the story doesn't seem to consider her a bad mother. The story wants me to like her. We're told she's a beloved part of the community, that she's a selfless mother, that she's an inspiring leader. Except that's not what they show us. Fiona Shaw herself talks about what a selfless hero she is for quote-on-quote rescuing Cassian, and it feels like I'm getting whiplash because did we watch the same show? Rescuing Cassian is not how I'd put it. She full on drugged and kidnapped a child, that's not a noble or heroic act of self-sacrifice.
Maarva never shows any warmth towards Cassian. Even in episode 7 when he goes back to her and episode 11 when he tries to call her, it feels like a boy desperately trying to please and live up to his mother's standards because she never made him feel like he was good enough. And that really is just the last straw. I wouldn't forgive her for kidnapping him, but I had hoped, initially, that there'd be consequences to this, that she'd show remorse at least. But I don't think Maarva ever really thought she did anything wrong because the story doesn't think she did anything wrong. And instead of trying to make it up to him like Clem seemed to have tried, she just gives him even more emotional damage.
I just can't tolerate her. Even her love for Cassian seems selfish at best, so there's nothing redeemable about her in my eyes.

Big Rant incoming!!
ngl the entitlement in the fandom (especially from minors) has been bothering me for a hot minute. first there's the digging for infos and spoilers about the next album and completely disregarding tobias' wish and pasting them all over ghost hashtags with no warning at all. then there's the whole thing with ghoulettes haters going to harass liv about her ghoul persona and just ghoulettes haters in general that's just internalized misogyny or just misogyny. also the minors in the fandom are starting to get on my last mf nerves, acting entitled to adult spaces and then complaining about adults enjoying things is crazy, go help your mom get the table ready or smth. i've seen some stuff about the kids spamming the grammis chat with ghost stuff and trashing in flames for winning the entire times and i'm just at a loss dude. sorry felt like bitching but yeah, cant even begin to imagine how they're gonna act at the ghovie showings
bro if i have some fucking ankle biter being an obnoxious little shit near me in the ghovie i won’t hesitate bitch lmao and you’re right to rant, it’s how i (and i imagine a lot of other people) feel. once again i am so thankful tobias doesn’t have social media accounts because i would be so fucking embarrassed for us.

BIG SCREAMING STARDEW VALLEY 1.6 SPOILER INCOMING!
.
.
.
.
omigodsomigodsomigods...
Okay, y'all wanna know what my most beloved and favorite thing about SDV was? I mean, I love the whole game even (when I bitch about the fishing) - especially the entire mood CA captured with the Fall and Winter - but there was one tiny, little insignidicant detail that will always keep this game in my top 5: the fact that when your pet cat flops on the ground it makes a little "thoomp" noise. Cats are rarely graceful when they flop on the floor to emphasize that they will in fact die/dry up and blow away if they are not given immediate affectipn/food, and it is charming as all get out CA captured that.
But, you know how CA managed to fucking surpass that?
BY LETTING US HAVE MULTIPLE PETS!
Holy shit! Y'all, I was ranting not a week ago about Coral Island having a full ass animal adoption center and only allowing us one pet, and how even even Stardew, which they emulate, had that flaw. How I was sick of farming games of all genres only allowing one pet, whereas BG3 is over there straight up giving us an owlbear, a dog, a depressed, snarky vampire who is barely house trained, a tressym's pet wizard... I mean, for fuck's sake, they are Farming Games and have you EVER known anyone living on a farm who didn't have a bunch of loved pets other than the livestock? ("Oh, that's my goose, Cuddles. He only tries to take your finger off if he likes you. He's a big softy.")
BUT, CA FIXED IT.
I would send him fucking flowers in thanks if I could.

So... about season 3 Aki.
Ok harsh contrast to my previous, excited post, but I did say I had more to yell about episode 75 and I need to get this off my chest anyway. Plus, I remember mentioning in a post that I need to talk about season 3 onward Aki anyhow, so might as well do that now! I am thinking Big Thoughts and I need to Scream.
Long, incoherent, unhinged rant incoming because I have 100 things to say and 100000 screenshots to post, but I am also tired and my brain is mush.
Can we please talk about all the jarringly unfulfilled setup the start of season 3 did for Aki? Because I'm starting to feel an urge to claw at the walls. I'm gonna go through this, piece by piece of damning evidence, because I need to vent my utter confusion and frustration somehow, I guess. Okay. So.
After giving us a bit of time to settle in after the timeskip into the pre-WRGP stretch of things, the itty-bitty portion of the story Aki occupies at this point starts off arguably strong. Yusei gets kidnapped, everyone's in a frenzy about it, but Aki's especially worried.
Tumblr media
Then this. Funky new signer powers! Nobody's been able to do this before! I wonder if they're going to do something with that! (Spoiler: They're not.)
Then Aki "no sense of self-preservation" Izayoi gets herself in a bunch of danger trying to rescue Yusei and we get this:
Tumblr media
Oh! Wow! Aki can control her powers now! (Which: how. Why did they never show us this. That alone could have made for a whole mini-arc. Why waste that????) That would give the writers so many cool opportunities to let her use them! I wonder if they're going to do something with that! (Spoiler: They're not.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Side note: I love this scene. I love it to death. They're both ride-or-die "who cares for my safety when yours is on the line" for each other and I love them.)
Of course, shenanigans then ensue, leading up to Sherry's marvellous introduction.
Tumblr media
(Mwah. I blow her a little kiss.)
And it is at this point that Aki Has An Epiphany.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And to top it off, she gets some interesting interactions with Sherry, too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Aki resolves that she wants to become a turbo-duellist, too. And the thing is, this isn't a little one-off thing or something they never deliver on. They end up building this up for several episodes, bit by bit. First we get another mention of it at the pre-WRGP press thingy they all attend:
Tumblr media
Then it's brought up again when Yusei accepts the first duel against Bruno/Antinomy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Also, side note again, but can I just mention that Aki also gets this moment the episode before:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Where she literally puts herself directly in harm's way in a public setting to protect people with her powers??? Like, I'm sorry, pinch me or something, but how does that not scream "badass good girl setup"???? HOW?)
So we get at least three episodes worth of buildup where Aki agonizes over becoming a turbo duellist to understand what her friends (but especially Yusei) are feeling when they duel like that, and then they finally deliver on it and episode 75 has her getting her license. And it's fantastic. Seriously. That episode is golden. Not just because it delivers on this promise, not just because it has a really cute moment between Aki and Yusei in it (regardless of how you read their relationship dynamic), and not just because it (as per my last post) showcases how much the rest of Team 5Ds cares about Aki (by literally building a runner for her and accompanying her to her exam and don't even get me started on Jack beating up those jerks trying to make her crash unprompted) but because it gives us just that smidgen more detail about Aki's character, too. Because the thing is, at first, she majorly sucks at driving.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And not only is this realistic to a degree (learning to drive is hard, regardless of what you're learning to drive), it's also great, because you know what Aki's response to it is?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She keeps going. She doesn't let it get her down, she gets back up and tries again. (And from a writing standpoint, this is lovely because that stubbornness is great in situations like this, but you could easily turn it into a weakness in a different scenario if you wanted to.)
And not only does Aki learn driving the hard way here, she also finds herself confronted with jerks who don't want her to succeed,
Tumblr media
(Ruka, sweetie, I love you.)
and she makes an absolute rookie mistake during her exam by trying to play a speed spell when she doesn't have the necessary speed counters.
Tumblr media
And feel free to disagree, but I think this is also great. Because honestly? While driving a really damned fast motorcycle that I'm not super used to yet, and being expected to make solid tactical judgements in an overcomplicated card game—the rules of which are slightly different when you're playing it on a motorcycle—at the same time, I would likely also mess up like that and accidentally try to make an illegal play. But the thing is, the episode rewards her for sticking it out anyway by letting her pull off a really complicated driving manoeuvre to save herself from her envious turbo-duelling-license colleagues' cheap tricks, and by letting her score a really nice win from a tight spot, much like any of the boys would have in her position.
Tumblr media
(Take that, you jerks. Dumbasses only get blurry screenshots.)
So Aki gets her license and is welcomed by the team as a fresh turbo duellist. Hooray!
Tumblr media
(I love them all so, so much, help me.)
And we also get this:
Tumblr media
Wouldn't you know it! Sherry's been watching Aki get her license with interest! And she seems to be mighty pleased with the result!
So. After all that, I don't think you could blame anyone (it's me, I'm anyone) for getting really excited about what Aki's gonna get up to from this point outward. Aki can control her powers now! And she got her turbo duelling license! And we've got a new, enigmatic side character who seems like she could have super interesting interactions with and play off Aki! I wonder what they're gonna do with all that.
*deep breath*
Sigh.
Seeing as I already know this show like the palm of my hand, I kind of dreaded getting past this episode because I know exactly what happens to Aki from this point out: Nothing. A whole lot of nothing. Okay, well, no. See, I went back and checked all the episodes I have left, just to make sure, just in case I forgot something (very likely when you've already watched the show three times, I know).
From here on out, during the entire pre-WRGP, WRGP, and Ark Cradle arc, Aki gets exactly three things to do:
She uses her shiny new turbo duelling license to fill in for Crow at the Team Unicorn match because he got injured. Which, on paper, is a perfect way to let her have the spotlight for a moment. Except, the only thing she gets that spotlight for is to last a hot four turns in the duel before losing spectacularly to Andre and literally never turbo duelling again for the rest of the show. (Like, yes. The moment where she summons Stardust Dragon is chefs kiss and legendary. But in light of the surrounding circumstances, it feels like a consolation prize to make up for the ensuing character trainwreck.)
Since Crow is technically still injured when they're meant to go up against Team Catastrophe, Aki trains to fill in for him there again. Except! They intentionally make her crash right before the duel, putting her in a short-term coma! And as the icing on the cake, when she wakes up, it also turns out she lost the powers she was only just able to control for absolutely. no. reason. None. They never bother explaining it, they don't even try to hint at why they might have vanished. (I have my own theories for why they had to let her powers vanish and they all start and end with the words "we couldn't be bothered to figure out how to write this character".)
At the very end of the show, the very end, after temporarily fridging Sherry, too, they dig both girls back up in order to let them participate in a three-way final boss duel with Crow. (Which is a fantastic duel, I love it to pieces. Genuinely.) You could argue that they tried to cash in on all the intrigue they set up between Aki and Sherry here, but—come on. At the end of the show? Seriously? Oh, and did I mention that for some reason, Aki's powers mysteriously reappear after this duel? For no reason? Again?
I just. It does not compute. They went as far as doing all this setup, letting Aki get the hang of her powers, letting her get her license, making her part of Team 5Ds, even giving us a new character that seemed like the perfect fit to let her bounce off of—and then, like some sort of kafkaesque reverse-miracle, they somehow managed to take a sharp left into "whoops, don't care about this character" and nearly wasted the entirety of that setup in one fell swoop. If it weren't for that finale saving at least a smidgen of it, I'd be holding a torch and a pitchfork over here. (Hell, I might, even knowing that Aki's final duel in the show is kickass.)
Please tell me if this is just me (15 years after the show released, I know, leave me alone), but this feels like they were literally loading Chekov's gun directly within view of the audience, only to later procede to toss the damned thing into the sea instead of firing it.
Okay. Okay, I think I'm done. For anyone who actually bothered with the whole post, first of all, thank you for your attention, secondly, sorry, but this does, indeed, still bother me ten years after I first found this show, so I had to get it out or it would have eaten at me forever. God damn it.
Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to writing fics where Aki actually gets something to do right this second. If anyone's interested in giving a fic series where Aki gets a separate character arc that tries to stay mostly canon-compliant after the defeat of the dark signers a go, you can find my stuff here.

I'm happy I can find a reonagi shipper that doesn't hate nagi's guts lmao. Do you think there's potential for them to end up together (in a general sense, like friends) and build a healthy relationship?
I'm tired of everyone on twitter expecting nagi to mess up again and hating him, and i know it's a possibility, but i want to see some character progression and not them making the same mistakes of the past (considering nagi DOES feel apologetic)
I don't want to think he's gonna toss reo away again like nothing, like so many people say in twitter. It's clear that they don't progress in football when they're together, but that doesn't mean their relationship has to be broken as a whole.
But anyway, i came here to let it all out, twitter is so stressful and even the reonagi shippers are sure of this happening
I completely understand my dude!!! Coming here after feeding off mostly twt for discussions was like a breath of fresh air haha, made me take a step back and realize "hey these two kids just SUCK at communicating" ☠️
First off (long rant incoming), yea it does seem to be a general consensus among reonagi/nagireo twt that Nagi's gonna "throw reo away in breakup part 3" after they lost to Isagi again, even after teaming up at their bests, n it do be a downer. As someone w a similar expressive style to Nagi (basically, bad at verbal communication and taking social cues) I can't hate him for what he did to Reo bc from his pov and with his personality it makes sense how he reacted, even if it was cruel and hurtful to someone he considers a close friend. Especially a friend who treated him like Reo did, which is why everyone's pissed off. But people forget that Nagi didn't even have friends before Reo, and that he probably wouldn't know he was being hurtful (other than the "you're a pain, idc anymore" line bc wtf bro but in hindsight he's a teenager who 1) doesn't think things through, 2) acts on instinct and 3) v rarely feels strongly on anything in the first place, so Reo telling him he didn't care abt the two things that got him into football, Reo's dream and Reo himself, probably tipped him over). Does it make all the suffering Reo went through alright? No, ofc not, and Reo should get an actual apology from his blockhead partner, but it's rlly sad to see so many people hating on Nagi for being 17 years old with no empathy skills (he says he and his parents are more like friends bc of how little they interact,,,,his best friend before Reo was a cactus,,,,give the boy a pass 😭).
((((spoilers for after the bllk manga ch202 here so if you haven't caught up or read the leaks pls be warned!!))))
Personally, I think they will end up together for sure, playing side by side once their character arcs are fully fleshed out (bc they're PARTNERS DAMMIT, THE SPINOFF CH8 LIVES RENT FREE IN MY HEAD)—but whether they stay together after the Manshine v Bastard match can go either way. We saw how well they played together and how the entire Bastard team couldn't stop their first goal against Isagi, showing how powerful their partnership can be, but it didn't last. Even if reonagi are completely in sync, Isagi could still shut them down over and over again (and even Kaiser could see what they were doing) after that first goal bc of two things: Nagi hasn't evolved his ego, and Reo devoted his extremely adaptable (therefore unpredictable) playstyle to accommodate what Nagi would want best at the moment. Because of this, Isagi and anyone with metavision who gets a read on what kind of player Nagi is has the ability to counter whatever they do—because Reo will do whatever Nagi wants to do, and will always favor Nagi. He said it himself, making Nagi the best striker is his new ego and that all other players are second to him, but this is detrimental to both of them because it makes them even worse than how they were in the first selection. Back then, Nagi could still direct plays while playing with Reo once pushed and Reo still wanted to score goals himself (the spinoff expands on this further when they play against other teams and w/ zantetsu), but now that they've both levelled up their skillsets (and bc Nagi likes succeeding + is frustrated that his game making isn't good enough yet), they've turned into an actual codependent team up in which Nagi relies entirely on Reo's creativity while Reo only focuses on Nagi scoring instead of him scoring, even when he has the opportunity to.
It's...bad. Even Ego pointed out how the We Beat Isagi Goal™️ would test Nagi's ego, bc he won't feel compelled to try harder anymore, and that that goal could never be replicated bc the conditions were too perfect both emotionally and physically, so even if Nagi was at his peak at that point, he would no longer evolve past now since his goal of "beating Isagi" was completed in such a memorable way. Nagi is basically stagnant and every other player with metavision can take advantage of that.
Reo, on the other hand, is on the other side of this and evolving extremely rapidly. During Yukimiya's final goal against Manshine, Reo had actually seen through Isagi's pass and moved to stop Yukimiya from scoring (but was tragically a step too late, my poor 99% boi, kaneshiro-sensei pls stop making him take Ls) and even Isagi was shocked he could!!! Reo's raw adaptability is growing to be a real menace and his main motive for evolving this entire time has been for Nagi, to get him back and to get Nagi to acknowledge him as the one who's best for him—so what'll happen when Reo gets to a point where his evolution is so great that when he looks back, Nagi is still at the same place he was during the Manshine v Bastard match? When he comes to a realization that the guy who's literally his own motivation to evolve isn't even trying to keep up with him bc he doesn't have any motivation himself?
I'm p sure you've read this already but @okkottsus has a rlly great analysis on reonagi n their skills + dynamic that puts it into words better than I can ☠️
If you haven't tho pls do it's amazing (and even has pictures!!):
So yea, imo, after a bunch of character development (on mostly Nagi's end bc he's stayed p much the same other than actually liking playing football after the team z vs v match) they'll get back together, but as for now I'm p sure they'll have at least one more break 😭 it's sad but it'll be good for them in the long run and above all else I just want both Reo and Nagi to be happy and healthy for each other. It's weird to hate on or blame one of them for their fallouts bc they're such a complex relationship and they both care for each other a lot in their own ways but oh well, people have opinions *shrugs*.
Anyway I hope this loosely related bunch of rambling is what you were looking for anon!! Ty for the ask, I'm also vv happy every time I see a reonagi shipper who loves both boys and it's always nice to talk abt them <3

I have a sort of love/hate relationship with Titans (the series on HBO Max) because:
On one hand I could literally not imagine anyone better to play any of these characters like Brenton Thwaites is peak Dick energy and Curran Walters makes baby asshole Jason look easy and Iain Glen is perfect Bruce material and Joshua Orpin gives off Superman vibes and also manages to make Conner feel young and inexperienced etc. There's also a good dynamic between most of the characters and they help each other out and they showing that they're people. They're people with problems and secrets and struggles, sure, but they're people. And they care. About each other. About the world. And the series shows that.
But. It also frustrates me to no end. Incoming huge rant, btw.
(warning- lots of spoilers for the show, mostly season 3 cuz that's where I have most of my beef with, and also i haven't watched s4)
Usually because of little -mostly Batman related- things that aren't really noticable to people not really into DC but are there nonetheless like: Dick is not his fucking legal name. It's Richard. No it's not going to say Dick on legal documents. I'm talking mostly about the episode where he got fucking arrested and they pulled up his file (and showed his passport to I think). Also his middle name is fucking John, people, not that hard to look up. (I'm pretty sure they do the same thing with Jason and make his middle name something completely random, but I'm sure in most if not all canons it's Peter). Just. Richard John Grayson. It's not that hard 🙄🤚 Nobody who is either not close to him or has no sense of boundaries will call him Dick. His (adoptive) father is Bruce MF Wayne. Richard, Mr. Grayson, Mr. Grayson-Wayne, whatever that canon is making his last name, that is what they will call him out of RESPECT, if not to him, to the one name everyone in Gotham knows.
Bruce's age is another thing. I have absolutely nothing against Iain Glen, pretty amazing Bruce, but your telling me Bruce is how old? Iain is 61. Like. I'm pretty sure he adopts Dick in his 20's. It's not him being an experienced adult. He's still young. So he WILL screw up. As a person and as a parent. Same thing for the young Dick flashbacks, like, an eight year old from a circus definitely would not know how to drive a car. I do love how he started off on the path of vengeance, because as a "darker" show, Titans is meant to highlight those parts of him hidden by traffic light colors and puns, but one of his things is that he's pretty much the age Bruce was when his parents died. The kid in the show was no younger than 13 in his earliest flashbacks (again, same with Jason and Tim. These kids showed up looking like high school graduates, which, sure, is young to be starting a life of crime-fighting, but you gotta remember that Jason died at 15 in the comics, and Tim never even graduated).
Another thing is, I really do want the show to introduce Damian, but I doubt that this version of Bruce would be able to raise a kid ever again, probably doesn't trust himself enough to, plus he's like in his 50's so either he had Dami really late or he -like the rest of the bat-fam so far- is really aged up when he starts his whole Robin thing, which also kinda worries me because Tim barely got introduced in the 3rd season and I think he will be Robin in the 4th, so I heavily doubt we'll get murder baby 10 year old-ish Damian. And while being young isn't all Damian is, it's a little crucial to his story because you see an adult who was trained to be a killer and you see them as dangerous, sure, but an adult. Actually seeing, witnessing a child being a murder weapon, knowing that that is all their childhood was, that is pretty twisted.
Also I feel like Dick's whole "prison arc" schtick just wasn't him because dude's whole thing was "adopting strays" and he just up and left a whole ass kid in charge of a tower and a comatose patient & got himself thrown into prison on purpose. Nuh uh. If there's one thing that separated Dick and Bruce personality-wise, I think it's that Dick is the one who helps and loves people from the bottom of his heart. Bruce does love people, but he doesn't know communication or where to draw the line between work and personal life. Dick also has that same problem and we see it, he knows it and resents it because he knows that's a *Bruce* trait, but he on the other hand has a support system, people who care and help. Because that's what the Titans is. And Dick wouldn't up and abandon that for anything.
Again with Bruce, I know fighting crime isn't the best way to raise a child, and that giving a traumatized child deadly weapons to fight their inner demons will leave scars, but I wholeheartedly believe that Bruce was trying to be a good parent. In the show, he's really no more than a mentor. The most emotion I've seen is AFTER Dick becomes Nightwing(in one of Dick's flashbacks, he communicated through fucking letters. Dick was practically alone). Same goes for Jason. This was supposed to be another kid Bruce saw himself in, someone lost and alone. And when we saw his computer files on possible future Robins?
Keeping the roll with Bruce, he does things I feel like neither Bruce or Batman would do. Hell, when Jason died, first thing he did was kill the Joker. That is Jason's whole schtick after getting revived‼️His whole problem with Bruce is that he let the Joker live, even after everything, even after his own son died! Nothing changed to Jason! His death didn't mean anything!

Nightbringer: Initial Thoughts
I have a lot of thoughts about Nightbringer, but I don't want to have one massive crazy post, so I'm gonna break it up a bit.
This first post is about the general gameplay, nothing story related. So there aren't any spoilers, just my thoughts on the app and updates.
Ruri☆Tunes
I LOVE IT. Listen, Ruri is adorable. I am right there with Levi. Like if this was a real anime, I would absolutely watch it. She's so cute! Did you guys see the background for Lesson 7 where there's a Ruri themed Miss Em doll? The cuteness nearly killed me.
The rhythm game itself is HARD. At first I didn't realize that you need to tap the actual objects. So by switching the controls to up and down, then turning my phone, and tapping the actual objects as they hit the line, I got WAY BETTER. I reblogged a post about this I think yesterday? It explains it better and thanks to that, the levels are now pretty fun.
I love the songs, of course, though some of the remixes are a little funky. But I loooove all the graphics! The lil donuts! And the lil demon chibis! And Luke's chihuahua! Oh yes and my favorite thing ever is Asmo's little "hai!" when he jumps over one of those green puddles. It's so cute.
Overall, I much prefer this to the dance battles. That being said, the levels are not really any easier than the OG. I was hoping we wouldn’t need to have a bunch of crazy high leveled cards to get through the story, buuuut it’s really looking like that might still be the way of it. I mean to be fair, the whole point of this is to make money so...
I don’t really hold it against them. I mean I do but I also don’t lol. The story is good enough that I can look past the money making motives. However I will say that this is just the case for me personally. I am lucky enough to have a little bit of disposable income to spend on apps, but I know a lot of players don’t.
Moving on before this becomes a rant about the evils of capitalism…
Wanderers Whereabouts
It sure is… something… Aside from the horrors of 3D models, I don't understand why they're playing sports in MC's room. Would it have been that much of an issue to give us an outdoor space as well as an indoor one? At least let them play sports in a field or something, you know?
My favorite ones so far have been when there's multiple demons in there, though. The way they interact with each other is so cute. And even though I find the whole thing a tiny bit weird, I DO like hearing their voices and seeing their interactions. Plus they do some really cute things when you give them an MC plushie.
But I think we all agree that the best part is watching Levi chase Mammon around on the map.
Fab Snap
This is supposed to be like TikTok, right? Once again I'm not a fan of the 3D models, which is probably due to the whole uncanny valley thing. However, I do still enjoy the shenanigans because what the fuck are those guys even doing? I'm sure you've all seen the musical chairs situation. I did like the one with Luke doing the snack test thing and you can hear Simeon who is recording the video. It's definitely cute to see them doing fun little things like that.
Everything else...
... seems to be the same except for some updated graphics and such. The story interface still has the 2D sprites thankfully and as far as I can tell, it works exactly the same as the OG. I've seen some people saying they're worried about the options changing the story, but they don't anymore than they did before. I think that's just their way of saying you get intimacy points with different characters depending on the options you choose. As far as I can tell, nothing seems to be any different on that end?
I love that they have entirely new special guest and home screen dialogue. The special guest dialogue especially seems more lovey and flirty than the OG. Solomon straight up says he loves you if you get the full heart reaction. You can still get annoyed reactions, though. From what I can tell, the reactions are the same as the OG app. If you get an S, it's the same as if you got three stars in the dance battle. I'm not sure about if you get lower than a B... but the three star reactions seemed to work for S, A, and B.
Also, I looooooove Karasu. I hope we get more Karasu beyond the tutorial, but I don't know if that's actually going to happen. I'm sure many of us will now refer to Mammon as Noodle Boy, though, because c'mon, that's excellent.
Okay there’s more I could talk about, but this post is already long lol. I like the mix of familiar stuff and new stuff. So far, I’m enjoying all of this. Stay tuned for posts about the story itself because there are so many thoughts.
I am also happy to receive any asks about your opinions on all of these things or if you have actual questions or anything else, of course.
