Growing up, when ever I went somewhere with one of my parents where there were white people. They would say shit like "make sure u speak correctly and proper, make sure u fix ur clothes, don't wear them like u normally do, make sure ur hair is presentable, no parts when u getta hair cut, don't talk with ur hands or say "yo", and when we leave.... give them a proper hand shake.... not like how we do with everybody else. Please just don't embarrass me".... I had a rule book that was law when ever we were getting ready to be around white people. It was never the same speech when getting around their own friends and families.

Now imagine a white parent telling their kid or kids, please don't wear your clothes like you normally do, talk with ur hands and don't say "like", maybe go twist ur hair or get braids to be more presentable, and when we leave.... try to give them dap or go in for the extra hug. Please just don't embarrass me.

U know why that doesn't happen? Cause they can be them selves no matter where they go. They have normalized how they are as how it should be. We on the other hand, have to shape up when not being in our placed environment, cause it shows class. Hell it aint dope till we wear it, but its only acceptable when they do it. Man, even Africans come here and change their names to more American ones just to (What?) Be accepted!

We are in America, where to be accepted, u have to have or show traits of anything other then ur black culture.
