“So,” Kiyo echoes back, still a bit lost to the standing mirror before them.

“So, what do you think! It’s definitely different for you,” Ouma chirps, pacing from side-to-side with arms outstretched. It both draws attention and keeps his balance; it takes effort to be flippant. “You sure you’re not gonna break out in hives from Olive Green Deficiency? It’s not like we’d really know!”

Kiyo turns to face him, blinking away the thoughts clouding his reflection. Kokichi steps back, smiling as much as ever. “I think it’s. Suitable. The cardigan is nice, it’s.” Soft, in a way that uniform was not. Kind, in a way withheld from you until now.

“Definitely in the ‘maybe’ pile, it is easier than the straightjackets, but DICE has got an aesthetic, you know? I still think you oughtta join once I’m recruiting again,” Kokichi leans on the wall, weight concentrated on his left arm. “, , I can look for a longer skirt, if it’s bothering y–”

“No.”

They are equally surprised by the interjection for vastly different reasons.

“No, I mean. I’d like to wear this one. ‘Try something different’, yes?” Something you wouldn’t have been allowed t–

“'Course! That is why I said it,” Kokichi teases. He doesn’t skip a beat. “Besides, we’re totally twinning! No worries about people staring at you, they’ll be staring at us.”

But now for the important part: The BOIS 👏 The absolute MAD LADS 👏

Can you just imagine what these two would do together when left to their own devices? Absolute chaos! Is what I would say but actually it’ll be more like a calculated chaos. For all of Kokichi’s spontaneity, my boi really likes to plan things out and execute his plans in the most flashy and irritating way possible. Korekiyo? Same, but he plays his cards more subdued with a poker face. So what do you get when you have two people who like to fiddle with other people’s lives for their own amusement? The most legendary pranks in existence that’s what.

You may think: “Korekiyo wouldn’t be interested in pranks, he’s too refined for that.” But isn’t it an anthropologist’s purpose to observe and record the intricacies of human life? How would different subsets of humans react to forces outside of their control? What faces will they make? What phrases would they say? This is the upmost important of research!!

And yeah maybe that’s what Kokichi says in order to get Korekiyo on board but it works and these two thrive on pulling the strings. And when they aren’t schemin’, you can find them talking shit about other people they find irritating. Absolute mean girls. They’re the type of bros who are just bros until Kokichi does something that crosses the line into full homo and it just stays that way. They’re both like: “yeah this works—this is just normal now.” Same wavelength, these two, I swear.
