au in which instead of mal, audrey is the one to run away to the isle upon learning of ben’s plan to instate mal as a lady of the court, with the aim of replacing mal there as mal replaced her in auradon.

upon arrival at the isle, she is captured (like ben) by the pirates, and is held hostage in an attempt to retrieve the wand. however, her anger instead of fear and general personality left uma slightly impressed and she agreed to let audrey go if she could best her first mate in a duel. audrey agrees, and gil unites and gives her a sword as harry swaggers up to them.

meanwhile in auradon, jane realises audrey is missing and tries to find her as ben tries to pacify her saying she must have gone to fairy cottage. instead of listening to him, jane, along with lonnie and chad, set off to fairy cottage to find she isn’t there. they return to auradon prep and ask evie to use her mirror to help them find her. with some reluctance, evie eventually agrees, and the mirror reveals her on uma’s ship on the isle.

cue a transfer back to the isle, where audrey and harry are about to duel each other. they’re circling each other as harry taunts her, and she rushes forwards angrily and misses. flustered, she continues trying to hit him as he dodges and mocks her, caressing her face with his hook and brushing her hair. eventually, she becomes so incensed that when she lashes out she overbalanced and falls to the floor. harry goes down after her, and is teasing her about going down so easily, when she reaches up and kisses him. he’s so surprised by this from what he saw as a goody goody princess that she manages to overpower him and rolls them over. uma calls the fight to an end and audrey realises what she’s done, and shoots up and tries to apologise, her sword lying on the floor a few feet from her. uma picks it up and looks at it consideringly, before handing it to her hilt first. ‘welcome to the crew,’ uma tells her, and the entire dock break out into cheering.

in auradon, jane and evie manage to show ben where audrey is, and he realises what he’s done. he decides to go and get her back from the isle, and mal immediately says she’s going with him, because she needs to apologise too. lonnie, chad, and evie are quick to say they aren’t going without them, and jane offers to create a distraction in order to get them out as quickly as possible. they agree, and head to the limo as jane goes to the science block.

on the ship, uma talks with harry on how the princess was able to beat him. harry is flustered and panicked and insist she only got the drop on him with foul play, with uma reminding him that that’s the way of the isle, and she’ll fit in with their crew. she suggests something else might be stirring between audrey and harry and he’s quick to brush it off, claiming the only women he loves to be his sisters, uma, and the ship. uma rolls her eyes and tells him to check the sails, and when he walks off, quietly calls after him that he deserves to be happy. he stops, and turns back to her. ‘i am,’ he says. ‘no,’ uma tells him, ‘you’re happy *enough*.’ harry closes his eyes, and turns to leave.

audrey and gil show up on the boat, audrey’s hair now blonde with pastel pink and blue. uma compliments her in the least complimentary way she can, and audrey dips into a quick curtsy, smirking up at her. uma laughs and takes her by the hand, pulling her across the ship towards the docks. ‘we need to get you into some real pirate clothes,’ she says, and audrey laughs.

meanwhile, mal, ben, lonnie, chad, and evie arrive on the isle. mal takes them to her hideaway, and tells the aks to stay there whilst she and evie go to attempt to negotiate. after some upset they acquiesce, and mal and evie go to the fish shoppe. when they arrive there, uma agrees to let them have audrey if mal can beat their newest member in a fight. mal agrees, and is taken to the docks with evie to see a girl with most of her fave covered in pirate dress. mal fights her, and it looks like she’s about to win until her sword accidentally cuts through the fabric hiding the girl’s face, to reveal audrey. mal gasps and drops her sword, and audrey takes the opportunity to push her to the ground. ‘you lost,’ audrey hisses. ‘now you have to do something for us.’

evie sees audrey and steps forward, begging audrey to come with them. harry walks forwards out of the crowd. ‘she’s not going anywhere,’ he tells them, and his eyes are more crazed than usual, ‘she’s ours now.’ uma tells him to stand down, and tells them their conditions: audrey, in exchange for the wand. mal, riddled with guilt over leading audrey to this, agrees.

mal and evie return to the flat and tell the others of what they saw. ben asks how on earth they’re meant to give them the wand, and chad has a revelation. ‘jay and carlos have a 3d printer!’ evie looks at him very suspiciously, but the others are like ‘oh yeah great plan!’ they return to auradon and print out the wand, and mal decides to bring her mother with her as she had almost escaped her terrarium.

they return and prepare to make the exchange, but uma demands that she see the wand work. mal panics, but feels her mother squirming in her pocket. pulling her out, mal turns carefully to the side and lets her eyes glow green, transforming her mother back into a human and she says a fake spell and waves the wand. maleficent catches a fly and eats it, before scurrying back to the mainland of the isle. uma demands the wand, and chad calls for audrey, before hiding behind lonnie. audrey walks forwards and they make the exchange, ben soon pulling audrey behind them. uma does a spell and realises that the wand is fake, and the ship bursts into outroar. audrey yells and fights against mal and the others in an attempt to escape, as harry follows them yelling for audrey. he grasps her fingertips for a heartbeat before she is pulled away and bundled into the back of the limo, harry stares after them as they drive away, hand still stretched out.

back in auradon, audrey cries in her room as chad, lonnie, and jane attempt to comfort her. ben and mal show up and ask to talk to her in private, before both try to apologise for what they’ve done to her. audrey continues to cry, and asks them why they couldn’t have just left her there, claiming to have been far happier there than she ever was in auradon. mal and ben leave, and cotillion happens as it does in the film, with uma spelling ben and the fight. however, instead of the ending in which uma tells the audience the story isn’t over, the screen cuts to audrey in her room, shutting her diary before wiping her tears and retrieving a fireplace poker, testing the weight of it in her hand, before she seems to notice the camera. ‘what,’ she asks, a smile pulling on the end of her lips, ‘you didn’t think that was the end of the story, did you?’

So I loved seeing Uma get so disappointed over Mal’s lying to her, but I can’t help but feel robbed... we never got to see her react to the fact that Ben agreed to close the barrier.

Ben, who she’d just started to connect with in the previous movie. Ben, who managed to talk her down from that final battle between her and Mal.

I think she really did start to believe that he was on her side, and to be fair to him, he tried to be. But in the end, he let himself be persuaded, and I wish we’d been able to see her confront him about that. God knows no one else bothered to

So I just remembered . . .

how in Rise of the Isle of the Lost, Uma had already gotten the trident before Mal and Co. got there, but then Mal used a spell to turn back time 15 minutes. Uma was so confused because she remembered grabbing the trident, but now she didn't have it?? And then I remembered how Mal tried to spell Ben to forget that their fight ever happened, so now all I want is for Uma and Ben to have a conversation about how Mal fucking around in their minds screwed with their head. I want Ben to go back through all of his memories carefully, trying to see if there are any blank spots where Mal might have erased stuff. I want to see Uma having severe self-doubt about her memory, and Harry comforting her.

I just have a lot of feelings.

Can you do Evie/Uma friendship headcanons cause I'm dying for some tbh

- It was pretty awkward when they first talked. (Like, “I’ve kind of known you for my entire life but I’ve never actually had a conversation with you and that’s sorta odd”)

- Neverless, it became obvious that they’d become good friends after they did start talking

- Since Uma had always spent her time around her darling crew members, of which all of the girls had always preferred to sword fight instead of painting eachother’s nails, Evie had became Uma’s first “girly girl” friend (but it’s not like the daughter of the Evil Queen couldn’t kick some ass if she felt like it)

- Sleepovers. (Which usually ends up with a more than slightly annoyed Mal and a Captain deprived Harry)

- After a special request from Uma, Evie had (reluctantly) began to teach Harry how to put on his eyeliner without it looking as he did it on the bumpiest roller coaster ever

- Uma helping Evie how to cook some sweets because, “wow, and I thought that Harry was the only person who was capable of burning water!”

- Evie concincing Uma to become a cheerleader.

- The two girls ar literally the unofficial leaders for the whole “bring justice for the Isle kids” campaign thing. (As well as all of the many, many issues happening in Auradon

And the actors can say and do what ever they want. They can have their own head cannons and cutesy things even if the cannon doesn't support because its fiction and its supposed to be whimsical and fun.

least favorite storyline: might actually be The Royal Wedding? It was just so dumb? I liked Hades in D3, but the way they made him so overly important and unrealistically invested considering that he never gave a fuck before and why would Mal be this invested in him already? I just... that didn't have to be the main focus of the wedding special and then that just throw away line about Carlos being dead I mean holy shit how do you make that a throwaway??

what I wish had happened but didn’t: a Maleficent redemption. I mean, D3 was already the Hades introduction and redemption, and then he gets the Royal Wedding too. Meanwhile, Maleficent was the one who actually did raise Mal. I would have loved to see Maleficent value her daughter more than her revenge and have her heart grow and with it her size to make her human again for her daughter's wedding because just living in Auradon with Mal and seeing how happy she was was a lesson for Maleficent

what happened that I wish hadn’t: the... the coronation? Like, holy shit, Ben was still a kid, while the king and queen are very much still around to be rulers like if Ben had been a Disney OrphanTM and had to take the throne at 18, but this was such nonsense, him and Mal were still in school but were also expected to rule the freaking kingdom? That was so weird and unnecessary

Spidey *Descendants* Ships:

I've answered the questions about ships I like through a tier system ages ago but I feel like listing them again. This is probably going to be a long post, since as I said I ship a lot. If anything isn't on here it's because I don't care or don't think about them enough.

Category: Babies™/I would die for them/none will compare to how strongly I love them aka my favourite ships

Rotten ot4 (Mal/Carlos/Evie/Jay) - I write a lot of ot4, it's where my mind naturally goes for them because I love all of the dynamics within that too much. Marlos are my fave dynamic within that tho.

Malvie + Jaylos - I can ship these outside of the ot4. I like them a lot and either way I ship these, these two will always be romantic for me. The other dynamics I only ship within an ot4 scenario, or platonically.

Category: the good shit/iconic King and Queen shit/ships I really like but I'm not as passionate about

Huma + Sea 3 - these are two very good ships and again it can be romantic or platonic for me, both are good.

Sea 3 + Ben - I really like all of their interactions and I can very much get into the idea of them as an ot4

Ben + Harry - I think it's the "coochie coo" thing that did it for me, I think they have a lot of potential and if not explicitly romantic then Harry at the very least flirts with Ben on a daily basis

Category: soft™/these are nice to think about/filed under cuties but I don't think about them as much

Benlos (Ben/Carlos) - every now and again I get random thoughts about them, because they're cute 🥺 and I like them dancing together in D1. (I also think of them as a brotp and very occasionally as an ot5)

Jannie (Jane/Lonnie) - the potential!!!! I feel like they'd be super cute and I can see them going on double dates with Jaylos a lot. I am a sucker for tall and smol pairings where you think the one who's small is quiet but they're actually super badass and the tall badass one but is super soft for her gf. Yes!!!!!!

Luma (Lonnie/Uma) - I think I'm the only one that actually ships this but I just feel like they'd be really good together. The potential is there! I feel like they'd always be sparring together and I feel like they're a good match. I can really see it and I feel like Uma would have a lot fo respect for Lonnie and vise versa.)

Gil/Jay - they're cute. I am very low-key about them, because I'm so into rotten ot4 and Jaylos I'm never fully in with these two. But I still appreciate the cuteness and I feel like they'd be really good bros.

Category: hmmm/the potential/I don't think about them a lot but they're okay or exes only

Balvie - cuteeeee. Like they'd be super cute and they'd be able to balance one another out quite well. This is really only how I can get into Ben/Mal as a romantic ship, idk for me I just need Evie in there. They're like brawn, brain and beauty all mixed into one ot3, there's not a lot of content for them but I'm definitely into the idea.

Umal (Mal/uma) - I only like them as exes. I don't care for anything where they're written as enemies, I'm tired of that. Umal as besties that occasionally flirt with one another to get a rise out of the other, or as exes. None of this enemies crap, I'm not here for it.

Jarry (Jay/Harry) - again, only ever as exes. I don't think they'd ever get together in any other capacity. I like their dynamic and their banter, so I can see them as a brotp who bicker like they're a married couple, but nothing mroe than that. So both Uma and Mal, and Harry and Jay have a banter type friendship (at least in my mind)

Ot5 (Rotten ot4 + Ben) - only in specific circumstances, but I do think the potential is there and I like them. I am reading a really good ot5 fic that has such good potential and for someone who is very low-key about them it's one of my favourite fics within this fandom. So not always but definitely not against them either!

Category: brotps I could get behind ✌️/platonic only

Jay + Ben - bonding over tourney, Jay teasing Ben about how he has a crush on every VK he meets.

Mal + Jay + Ben - banter Central, Mal and Jay teasing Ben, Ben fully encouraging both Jay and Mal in tourney and art. I feel like Ben would be super supportive and it would definitely throw Mal and Jay off a lot

Evie + Harry - Harry as Evie's model because he loves to talk about fashion and he's open to any fashion ideas she has. A very soft and playful friendship is what I imagine.

Carlos + Harry + Mal - the chaotic three. I feel like they're pranking constantly, they're the Kings and Queen of comebacks because they've always got a one-liner up their sleeves. They're always bantering and bickering, but I feel like they're a very underrated friendship and they have a lot of potential

Uma + Carlos (and probably Evie) - study buddies. They're the squad that are constantly rolling their eyes at the others and judging people together. Smart and resourceful and they're the squad that captures everyone's attention because they have A+ looks

Mal + Harry - nicknames galore. Bantering non-stop, but also a side of softness because they can just vibe when the other is upset. Silly shenanigans and teasing one another relentlessly. The type of friends to send an "ugly" photo of the other in the group chat.

Rotten four + Sea 3 - like just give me this squad and explore the different dynamics between them. I don't want any fighting, I just want them as a super squad kicking ass and working through their traumas together. That's all.

D*vie (D***/Evie) - never. I have a very fond hc where Evie infact buries D*** in her castle garden and that's the nicest thing I can think of when it comes to them. I didn't like him from the start and if anything the more I see him the more I despise him.

Anything with Chad - sorry, I just don't like him. He's good for blaming, like if I'm writing something where someone says something to the Vks it's usually him as the antagonist type. There's no ship I care for his presence in. I think I saw one gifset months back with Chad and Ben having a cute/dorky interaction but otherwise I could not care less about him.

Honestly, anything with Audrey in too is generally a no-go for me. I just don't care. I don't like Audrey at all, I can sympathise with some things but not enough to make me want to ship her with anyone. That's all I'm going to say.

Dragon Colds & Rose Petals

Love Like Dragons AU

Evie Grimhilde was a happily married woman. She had been for nearly three months now, and it was marital bliss. But there was a small part of her that was still a lonely, single, Dragon mom. So when Ben walked in on her that day, struggling to keep the human thermometer in Mal’s mouth to take her temperature, he laughed.

Mal, her best friend and a five year old Isle Dragon, had been sick for the past two days. Evie wasn’t sure what brought it on, as Audrey - Ben’s Aurorian Dragon - didn’t seem to have anything. And of course that small, single, lonely dragon mom part of her reared it’s head. What if Mal was terminally ill? What if she died? What if Evie would wake up tomorrow and her best friend wouldn’t be there? It nearly sent her into hysterics. Coddling the cranky, tired spike menace was the only thing that could calm her.

Naturally, Mal hated it.

Ben, thankfully, was a level headed man, and he rescued poor Mal and quarantined her in another room. He then held Evie to his chest and quietly stroked her hair as she rattled off every possible dragon disease she found on the internet and their outcomes.

“I have a friend who’s a vet,” Ben told Evie when she had finally calmed down, holding her close as to keep her from spending the night with Mal - who was no doubt sleeping, “she comes and looks at Audrey every few months, I’m sure she’d be happy to give Mal a checkup,”

And so Evie agreed that a vet visit would be the best option, rather then trusting DragonMD. Of course, she wasn’t aware that Ben and this ‘vet’ were very close friends. Let alone that this ‘vet’ was a woman who he was apparently quite comfortable with. Uma was a pretty, muscly, dark skinned sort with long turquoise and white braids. She stood at least a head above Evie in height, and when she pictured a ‘vet’, Uma was quite far from what she was imagining.

“Uma!” Ben greeted with an open hug, “thanks for coming,”

“You’re lucky, Ben. I just got back into town,”

“Uma works in freight,” Ben explained to Evie, resting an arm around her waist as Uma pulled a rather large black duffle in behind her, “she travels a lot; it’s why you didn’t meet her at the wedding. Uma, this is my wife, Evie. I wrote to you about her,”

“Yeah; all good things thankfully. It’s nice to finally meet you,” Uma replied, Evie smiling in kind and taking her hand in a firm shake. The grip was incredibly strong, and the skin on her palms was callous, “Ben, I hope you don’t mind. But I brought Gil.”

“Who’s Gil?” Evie asked, brows popping up. She expected Gil to be a person, or perhaps a child. Having a large, horn-backed dragon wander in with a rose in his beak wasn’t what Evie expected at all. Like the day she had met Audrey, the girl yearned for her sketchbook, “oh my goodness,”

“I told you. Uma is great with dragons,” Ben laughed, “this is Gil,”

“My boyfriends dragon, actually,” Uma told Evie.

“I’ve never seen anything like him!” Evie exclaimed, jostling as ‘Gil’ nearly knocked her over when he came to bump the side of her leg with a wing.

“Sorry,” the sailor groaned, rolling her eyes as she grabbed the dragon by the back of the neck, “he’s really good with people, and gentle as they come. But he’s just so big,”

“What kind of dragon is he?” Evie asked, kneeling down to have a better look. Gil, unlike both Mal and Audrey, was built like a narrow turtle, and was armored like a tank. He had short legs with four toes each, and an articulated shell covering his nape, all the way down to his back legs. His tail was stubby, but sprouted four impressively long spikes, and his face was wide eye’d with a beak rather then a toothy maw. Gil’s wings, Evie noticed, folded inelegantly against the outside of his shell, a bit like messy accordion blinds. No doubt they were quite large in order to help such a bulky creature fly.

“Gil is a Coastal Dragon. They usually live out by the sea, in the sand,” Uma explained, heaving the creature to the side where he flopped to his belly unbothered, still holding the bright red flower in his beak, “Harry picked him up when he was traveling, and he’s been with us ever since. He’s a lazy beast,” Uma complained, tapping the creature’s shell with a boot, “doesn’t do jack-shit other then lay around all day,”

Evie couldn’t help but laugh at this, only to jump as Gil made a noise. It sounded almost like a tired, sad foghorn.

“He’s been crying like that all morning,”Uma drawled, “the minute he figured out I was coming here, he wouldn’t let me leave without him,”

“Why would he do that?” Evie asked, frowning slightly in confusion as Ben rubbed the back of his head and Uma glanced at him expectantly.

“Princess! Your boyfriend’s here!” Ben called out, his voice echoing through the tall vaulted ceiling of their house. Puzzled for a moment, Evie turned as Audrey’s birdsong reached her ear. It only took a second before the pink bullet - wings fully outstretched - glided into the room. Gil, who had previously been laying down, leapt up faster then Evie ever could’ve imagined for such a stocky beast. His accordion wings unfurled like a whip, and Uma tugged Evie backwards a step as he gave one powerful flap and was in the air.

“Sweet Merlin, he’s massive,” Evie breathed in wonder, watching as Gil captured Audrey in a mid-flight embrace, enfolding her between his arms and resting his large head on her crest, “are they...?”

“Together,” Ben confirmed with a nod, “it was a surprise to us to, once we figured it out,”

“Gil is romantic, the big lug,” Uma chuckled, placing her hands on her hips as Gil transferred the rose he’d been keeping to Audrey, who somehow managed to tuck it behind her ear flap in a very teenage-girl like manner, “he gets it from Harry, I think. Sorry about your rose bushes, Ben.” Uma admitted, grimacing slightly as Ben merely chuckled.

“It’s alright. The gardeners will take care of it,”

“Right then. So, you told me you had a sick dragon here?” Uma asked Evie, “and it’s clearly not Audrey,”

“My dragon, Mal, has been sick for a few days now,” Evie told the woman, returning to fretting over her best friend, “She’s really dull and tired, and even more cranky then usual,”

“Hm, that could be a number of things,” Uma pondered, heaving her black duffle up over one shoulder, “what breed is she?”

“An Isle Dragon. At least I think she is. I got the egg as a gift. Mom didn’t ever tell me where she got it from,”

“Well, let’s get to it then. I want out of here before Gil starts mimicking Audrey’s love songs,”

And so the trio left the foyer, heading upstairs into the large upper floor. Ben had made Mal her own special quarantine room. Audrey’s claw marks were all over the door’s painted exterior, showing where she’d been trying to get in earlier.

“I’ll have to talk to that girl,” Ben mumbled at reaching the door, ruffling his hair and groaning at the idea of having to fix the damage. Audrey wasn’t normally destructive, and Evie thought maybe she was coming down with something like Mal had. But Uma merely shook her head.

“It’s only natural,” she explained, opening the door and flicking on the light, “Audrey and Mal have probably already formed a family unit. It’s normal for one dragon to comfort another in times of pain or illness,”

“But Mal and Audrey quarrel constantly,” Evie complained, “they never get along,”

“Maybe so, but Dragons aren’t solitary in the wild. They build family units to survive. You did the right thing though, keeping Audrey out of here,” Uma admitted, kicking the door closed with a boot. Mal was laying in her basket, snoozing the day away unbothered by their entrance.

“I’m going to go call mom and dad,” Ben said to Evie quietly, “see if I can’t get someone down here to fix the door, and the bushes. You’ll be ok here with Uma?”

“Yeah. Love you,”

Sharing a quick kiss on the lips , Ben gave a half wave to Uma before skirting back out the door and vanishing.

“You two are good together,” Uma commented a little while later, removing a stethoscope from her bag and slinging it around her neck, “I was surprised when Ben said he was getting married,”

“Oh?”

Sinking down onto a low stool, Evie watched as Uma very carefully checked Mal’s heartbeat, “why do you say that?”

Uma switched the stethoscope for an ear tool as she began checking Mal’s ear holes.

“I dunno; it just never seemed like he could find the right fit. Hell, even we tried it out once,” Uma admitted with a laugh. This caused Evie’s stomach to drop like a rock. She didn’t mean for the green eye’d monster to make an appearance, but she couldn’t help it. After all, it had only been a few months, and she was nothing like Uma.

“Uh...why didn’t it work out? You and Ben?”

“Ah, we aren’t anything alike, really,” Uma said, satisfied with Mal’s ears and digging around in her bag for a moment, “I was always gone, you know? And of course Ben has his parents business to worry about. He needed someone who could keep up with him. Ah,” finding what she was looking for, Uma removed a small ‘T’ shaped device from the bag, “let’s just take the temperature,”

With a beep, Uma looked at the little digital screen and nodded. She put her tools away, removing a stuffed toy from inside her bag and tucking it under one of Mal’s fat arms.

“You, Evie, seem like just the right type for him,” Uma insisted with a sharp nod, rising from her place on the floor and wiping her hands on her jeans, “as for Mal, I suspect a cold is to blame for this. Where does she normally sleep?”

“Uh, up in the rafters above my bed. She used to sleep next to me, but I share a bed with Ben now. Audrey usually sleeps on her perch,”

“Ah. I suggest maybe installing a heat lamp up there, or building a nesting box. I think she’s getting to cold at night. Dragons are sensitive to that sort of thing,”

“I didn’t know,” Evie admitted, “thank you, Uma,”

“Anytime. I love Dragons, and Ben is still a great friend so I’ll help him out when I can. Anyway, Mal should be back to her normal self in a few days. Keep her warm and eating normally, and if anything changes, call me again and I’ll come back,”

“Can Audrey be allowed back in?” Evie asked, holding the door open for Uma to leave as the girl shook her head.

“No. Keep Mal in here and resting until she’s closer to her normal self. No need to risk Audrey catching whatever she has.”

“Ok. I can do that,” Evie nodded, following Uma back downstairs. Ben was standing in the yard out front, looking over the trampled rose bushes. Audrey and Gil were cuddled up within the broken branches, warm and content in a nest of prickly thorns and velvet petals.

“I think Gil might be more romantic then you, Ben,” Evie joked, looping her arm through her husbands as the man made an offended noise in his throat.

“So you want rose petals?” He asked, “I can do that,”

“Mhm, whatever you say,”

“So how’s Mal? Everything ok?”

“She’ll be just fine,” Uma restated, “Evie knows what needs to be done. As for you, Harry wants to get together at some point for a guys night.”

“Will do. I’ll call him and Jay when I have time,”

Bobbing her head in understanding, Uma gently prodded Gil with a toe through the nest, causing him to lift his head groggily.

“Alright, big fella. Kiss your girlfriend goodbye, we need to get going,”

Gil gave a sad little moan and Uma shook her head, “no complaints. I’m the captain here. Now kisses, and let’s go,”

Evie couldn’t help her little ‘awe’ as Gil reluctantly gave Audrey a little cheek nudge before standing and romping out of the bushes unhappily. Ben picked his own dragon up from the thorns, cradling her like a baby as she wailed dramatically.

“Do you cry like that every time I leave the house?” Evie asked as Uma hauled Gil into her Jeep, leaving poor Audrey heartbroken and hanging limply off Ben’s arm.

“No,” Ben insisted, using his free hand to grasp Evie’s as he gave it a squeeze, “I’m even worse.”

A/N: So...this is officially an AU! I’m calling it the Love Like Dragons AU. Basically Auradon is just a normal city (no prince and princesses, no pirates, ect.). Ben is the heir to his wealthy parents business rather then being a King. And the only ‘magical’ thing in Auradon is the dragons part of it. How I feel about this character: That I miss Descendants 1 her, since she was actually a little likeable and the only problems found with her was the love spell thing and the fact that she obviously humiliated Audrey with said love spell, but Descendants 2 just made her slowly dislikeable with how she can do whatever she wants, including trying to spell her boyfriends memories when he found out she was lying, and still get away with it cause the story will twist it to be everyone elses fault, and Descendants 3 just made her completely hard to like anymore, since she willingly plans to close the barrier forever so no more VKs, manipulates Ben into agreeing and then lies to her friends and uses Uma with a false promise to free the VKs and once more, SHE NEVER HAS TO DEVELOP- she gets forgiven way too easily, and this is ignoring how she treated Audrey in Audrey’s own diary and how she treated Uma and Evie in both books and films. All the people I ship romantically with this character: No one really, unless you count fanon!Ben X Mal, since fandom can at least write them better, but Mal’s lied to everyone in her friend group, has bullied three-four characters/humiliated those characters and is toxic as fuck with Ben, including attempting to use magic on him- Mal doesn’t need romance, she needs therapy at the rate shes going. My non-romantic OTP for this character: I do enjoy the BROTP she and Jay had going in the first book, just wish the films had adapted it better then Jay enabling Mal to blame Ben for her own problems in D2. My unpopular opinion about this character: To be honest, feel like a lot of the problems with Mal isn’t really unpopular in this fandom, but I guess this could count: that Mal made that choice willingly in D3. Is Beast a dick in D3? Yes, but I do not see him or Belle pressuring Mal to make that choice, Mal made it very willingly and did not suggest ANYTHING else, therefore, this defense of Mal being pressured in that scene isn’t really true from what I’ve seen in that scene. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That she had something called character development, consequences and all. Descendants 1 HINTED that she could be developing and maybe sequel would continue that development, but Descendants 2 did not and instead, showed Mal acting like Ben forced her to be this perfect lady when he never did, showed her trying to spell Ben when he catches her lying and then getting prissy when he panics at nearly being spelled again and fleeing to the Isle, but the story refuses to let have her consequences and instead, blames everyone but her, the same happening in D3 where they ALMOST show her friends being done with her, but then force the friends to forgive her by the end, so she never has to change and develop and when your main character won’t develop while others have to take the blame for her actions and crap, its not great writing, its a dumpster fire someone refused to put out.
