Field journal 📔 ID: Erythrina herbacea Common name: coral bean, Cherokee bean 🌱 This plant caught my eye a few months ago, and I soon learned what it was. I was also happy to discover that this striking plant is a Florida native 🥰 Since learning about it, I’ve noticed it so many more places! Bart is a Sarasota local and former Assistant State Attorney with extensive trial experience in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. He's handled thousands of cases from inception through trial and appeal. He also has in-depth experience working with a wide variety of misdemeanor and felony criminal matters including: traffic, licensing, theft, narcotics, DUI, resisting arrest, violent crimes, sexual offenses, animal cruelty, computer hacking, identity theft, and large-scale white-collar crimes.

Through his experience, Bart has learned to focus much of his attention on faults with law enforcement investigations, improper assumptions based on electronic data, and unfair or unconstitutional police practices, to craft the most effective defense strategy for his clients. As Halloween approaches, it seems appropriate to share a creature seen as an icon for the spooky day, BUT here is your reminder that spiders are actually not so very scary. 🕷 I used to be TERRIFIED of arachnids (like, if I even heard the word “spider” too close to bedtime, I’d have to sleep with the lights on), but I eventually came to learn more about spiders and how beneficial they can be. 🕷 Living in Indonesia, we had spiders in our neighborhood even bigger than this one, and it wasn’t until I almost died from a mosquito-borne illness that I truly started to respect spiders for the role they play in natural pest control and killing creepy-crawlies that are actually dangerous. 🕷 From there, I started to learn even more about spiders, and soon my fear turned into fascination.
