^^^ Listen to what the candidates themselves say about Roe v. Wade.
Even if there is not a specific abortion referendum in your state this year, reproductive freedom is still on the ballot in 2024.
Donald Trump appointed 3 of the 5 SCOTUS justices who killed Roe v. Wade, Republican George W. Bush appointed 1, and his Republican daddy George H.W. Bush also appointed 1.
3 + 1 + 1 = GOP termination of reproductive freedom
When you vote for president you are choosing the person who appoints US Supreme Court justices. When you vote for US senator you are choosing a person who approves or rejects those appointments.
Trump may be grifting people with $60 Bibles but he probably wouldn't want his followers to actually read them. He especially would prefer that people skip over Matthew 7:16-19
Tumblr media
Donald Trump is "evil fruit" incarnate.
Tumblr media
A second Trump administration would just bring additional restrictions. Making sure that his candidacy is hewn down at the polls in November is the only way to keep Republican overseers out of your bedroom and out of your doctor's office.

“Jesus Quotes and God Thoughts” By Michael Wilson (in God Thoughts, God is Good, Book):
“Jesus gets in trouble a lot. The religious elites do not like who He spends time together with.
“Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.” —Luke 7:39
They let Jesus know. They let the disciples of Jesus know.
And … Jesus wants to sit down and eat with us. Jesus wants to sit down and eat with you. Jesus is smiling and in a good mood. Jesus has good news for us.
It is time to listen.
“When the religious elites and leaders (aka Pharisees) saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and those who have missed God’s goal (aka sinners)?” —Matthew 9:11
There is good news that Jesus came to save me, a sinner (aka someone who misses God’s goal). Jesus seeks me out. Jesus wants to sit down and eat with me.
Criticism of Jesus the Messiah’s choice of company: Who will I seek out to tell the good news of Jesus to? Is my message for the religious elites or those who need God? Will I be criticized for who I am spending time together with? Are they the “wrong people”? Are they broken hearted, the sick, the homeless, the poor?
Jesus wants to know!”
Luke 7:39  — “Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.”
Luke 19:7  — “When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." - Matthew 7:6
Our verse for today is part of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. In a previous portion of the sermon Jesus said, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Matthew 7:1-2). Although we should not judge others, our verse for today makes it clear that we should be discerning in our evaluation of people.
What do the metaphors "dogs" and "pigs" mean? In the Old Testament, dogs and pigs were considered unclean animals. Dogs were the scavengers of the Middle East. They were not given food that was offered in sacrifice because it was holy, but they were thrown the meat of animals torn by wild beasts because it was not holy (Exodus 22:31). Pigs were not to be used as food by the Israelites and, as a consequence, were not to be kept or fed (Leviticus 11:7-8). Jesus used dogs and pigs to represent people who are not worthy to receive anything sacred or anything as valuable as pearls.
What do the metaphors "sacred" and "pearls" mean? They both refer to God's word and especially the gospel message. The gospel message is very good and extremely valuable. Jesus is saying that one should not give the very good and very valuable message to those people who will not receive it or appreciate it. Although we should not judge people, we should discern whether or not they will accept the gospel.
What does the metaphor "trample them under their feet" mean? It refers to the rejection, ridicule, and mocking of the gospel by the people who will not receive or appreciate it. And "tear you to pieces" refers to the personal enmity and opposition of these people toward the people who give it to them.
In Matthew 7:6 Jesus is telling us that there is no obligation on our part to preach the gospel to people we know will not receive it or appreciate it. We should not judge them, but we need to be discerning. Proverbs 23:9 says, "Do not speak to fools, for they will scorn your prudent words."

A Credible Resurrection Requires Credible Witnesses
(The resurrection on Easter Sunday, the last of the Ten days of Passion Week)  All over the world, people today are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. It’s an interesting phenomenon because most rational people know that it is impossible to raise anyone from the dead, right? And yet, believers everywhere accept by faith that the resurrection actually occurred. Why? Is there a reason why…

“We Are the Church: Render to no person evil for evil. Strengthen anyone fainthearted. Support anyone weak. Heal anyone afflicted” at Westminster Presbyterian Church
On October 15, 2023, Rev. Dr. Tim Hart-Andersen, Senior Pastor at Minneapolis’ Westminster Presbyterian Church, delivered the sermon, “We Are the Church: Render to no person evil for evil. Strengthen anyone fainthearted. Support Anyone Weak. Heal Anyone Afflicted,” which was the fifth of his final seven sermons before his retirement at the end of October. Scripture Leviticus 19:9-18 “‘When you…

Sons of Thunder -- Followers of Christ Filled with Anger
When Jesus passes through a Samaritan town in the last year of His ministry, two of His disciples, James and John, two of the men in the inner circle of His twelve, two of the three men He spent the most time with, demonstrated how far they had yet to grow in their discipleship. James and John had been nicknamed by Jesus as “sons of thunder.” (Mark 3:17) From a study of their character, you might…

God's Law for the Lost and for the Rescued (197) - June 10 2023
LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST Romans 3:20 (AMPC) states that [the real function of] the Law is to make men recognize and be conscious of sin [not mere perception, but an acquaintance with sin which works toward repentance, faith, and holy character]. For the born-again believer in Christ, Romans 6:14 shows they are no longer under the Law as slaves, but under grace as subjects of God’s favor and…

Keeping the commands of God over our traditions and impulses
Keeping the commands of God over our traditions and impulses
Today we will be looking at the core Bible principle of vigilance. Keeping the covenant and commands of God requires multi-faceted vigilance, as cultural influx that negates or destroys the foundations of God’s word is as rampant today as it has been since ancient times. The Bible is filled with admonitions to keep the covenant or to keep the commands of God. We read about it so often that we…

Verse of the Day 12-3-22
Verse of the Day 12-3-22
Jesus: The Light of the World Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12 In this verse Jesus declares himself to be “the light of the world.” This is the second of Jesus’ seven “I am” statements1. While the expression appears simple and straightforward on the outside, the…

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” —Matthew 5:3‭-‬8 (NIV)
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
“All Is Calm: Receiving Jesus' Rest This Christmas” Devotional By Moody Publishers - Day Three: “Express Your Neediness:”
“Thanks, but I can do it.” Have you ever turned down an offer for help, even though you really needed it? Sometimes it’s hard to admit we can’t do everything ourselves. During all of our Christmas preparations, this sometimes results in exhaustion and crankiness. But this very same self-sufficiency can become deadly in our spiritual lives.
The truth is that we need Jesus. But we often live our lives as if we can get by on our own. It’s not until we take time to reflect on the beauty of God—His holiness, His love and kindness, His atoning sacrifice—that we realize just how desperately we need Him. There’s a vulnerability that comes with admitting our need, but Jesus promises that those who are poor in spirit, who are meek in heart, and who thirst for righteousness, are rewarded with more of God Himself.
It turns out that expressing our neediness is the only way to receive the glorious riches of Christ Jesus that God has prepared for us. The psalmist calls God’s people to worship, bow down, and kneel before their Maker. The Hebrew word for worship means to fall prostrate or bow down. Physically, this means to bow our knees in acknowledgment of Jesus’ Lordship; spiritually, it means to surrender all we are to all He is.
This kind of realignment of perspective and priorities is only possible when we first spend time recognizing God’s greatness; worship moves us to a proper view of God, which moves us to confession and repentance.
Jesus illustrates this same point when He calls Himself the Vine, and His disciples the branches. “Apart from me, you can do nothing,” He tells them. “But if you remain in me […] you will bear much fruit.” Surprisingly, Jesus does not call us to work harder to be more fruitful; rather, He calls us to abide in Him, to wait on Him. Those who remain connected to Him will naturally bear much fruit, because His Spirit is the One who produces the fruit. (John 15:1-5)
Allow your need for Jesus to bring rest and calm this Christmas. The pressure is off. You don’t have to do it all on your own. In fact, you just need to rest.
Reflection Questions: How does the imagery of Jesus as the Vine affect you? What other names of Jesus move you to recognize your own need for Him? What’s one way you can express your neediness and rest in Him today?”
“Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.” —Psalm 95:1‭-‬7 (NLT)

Cleansing the Temple is One Thing; How About Cleansing Our Hearts?
Day Four of the Ten Days that Changed the World: Monday of Passion Week was a day of travel and cleansing, Mark 11:12-18. Jesus and the disciples walked from Bethany to Jerusalem and back. Remember, that’s about an hour’s walk each way, so these guys were in shape! We don’t live in an age of walking, but it gave life a different pace, and certainly provided time to talk, discuss and teach as…
