★ How long have you been on bookstagram? I’ve been here since October 2017! It both feels like forever and no time at all. I have made lasting friendships and connections here, and it’s helped open doors for my future and career that I never anticipated. Do you enjoy quirky and charming novels? Do you have one that you can recommend? 🌿 I finished Rules For Visiting a couple of days ago. It is a charming book with a simple plot. It follows the life of May Attaway, an unmarried 40 year old botanist at the local university where she originally studied landscape architecture. When she is unexpectedly granted a sabbatical from her job, May decided to reconnect with four old friends, visiting them in their homes around the world. May is a quirky loaner who loves to read, enjoys her evening drink and is extremely passionate about plants, especially trees. In many ways she reminded me of Eleanor Oliphant. May is not exactly the visiting type but she sets out on her journeys with a copy of Emily Post’s Etiquette tucked in her suitcase and she eventually discovers what it is to have and be a friend. This book reminded me to hold my friendships close, always be a good houseguest and most importantly, make the most out of life! ★ Do you use a bookmark when you’re reading a physical book? A random piece of paper or the receipt? Do you dog ear? When I was a kid, I’d definitely dog ear. As a teen, I was a receipt or random piece of paper person. Now I always have a bookmark handy if I am reading a physical book. I like to pick out a bookmark that compliments the book in some way. It’s hard to use bookmarks so beautiful as these though! Illumicrate included these The Gilded Wolves inspired bookmarks with character art by @gabriella.bujdoso and I am IN LOVE 😍 This is, by far, a favorite fantasy series of mine, and I adore these characters so much.
