Do you believe a woman ought to marry a guy without a job?

I think a woman would and should marry an unemployed man. Why not if she met him while he was unemployed and fell in love with him? 

After getting married and leaving the military, I was a stay-at-home husband and father for quite some time. After my wife gave birth to our son, I got a job a few months later. But when I noticed she was getting depressed, I told her to go back to work, and I would stay home with the baby. It was easy for us to make that transition because I had more experience with children and I wanted to start an online business. 

For nine years, I was a stay-at-home father. When he got older, I occasionally worked as a temp, but mostly I was a stay-at-home father. I heard all the old clichés about how a real man would go to work while his wife would stay home and care for the house and children.

Sometimes it got to me. But the thing is, it worked for us. I even started an online business while staying home. People were still talking about how the man was supposed to be the sole provider. But again, it is what worked for us, and it definitely did financially. 

My issue is that, as a society, there are far more issues to be concerned about than who will be the breadwinner in someone else’s relationship. We should worry about where the next piece of bread will come from. Too many people talk about how things should be between men and women. Each of them should recognize what they want before telling someone else what they want from them.

They should be honest about who they are and what they have to bring to the relationship. This way, the opportunity is there for them to walk away from each other before going further. This way, they will have nothing to complain about or pass judgment on.

Setelah habis, kamu mencari lagi, habis kembali, kamu mencari terus sampai kamu ingin untuk setiap harinya harus ada uang di genggamam tanganmu.

Kamu harus ingat, sekali kamu dikuasai uang, di situlah akar kepahitan dalam hidupmu.

Kamu akan lupa diri, kamu akan menjadi egois, kamu lupa akan keadaan sekitar, karena fokus hidup kamu hanya tertuju pada uang semata.

Ya, ingat uang hanya sementara. Di awal mungkin kamu senang, tapi setelahnya tanpa kamu sadari, dirimu terjebak di lingkaran setan, dimana hanya kamu satu-satunya yang bisa menyelamatkan dirimu.

Selalu ingat, kalau kehidupan duniawi adalah sementara.

Aku dan uang.

Ya, semua orang membutuhkannya.

Tapi tidak semua orang mampu untuk mengelolanya.

Termasuk aku.

Entahlah darimana asal mulanya, mengapa aku menjadikan uang adalah nafasku.

Kalo ada uang aku bisa menjadi semangat, tapi kalo gak ada uang, aku bisa gak ada gairah untuk menjalani hidup.

Dulu aku orang yang sangat mencintai uang, selalu menginginkan lebih dan lebih. Padahal yang dipunyai sudah lebih dari cukup, tapi masih saja ingin menginginkan lebih dan lebih.

Lebih parahnya lagi,

Uang yang ada hanya kupakai untuk keinginan diri sendiri, tanpa peduli dengan apa yang menjadi kebutuhan bagi orang lain.

Aku menjadi egois. Menjadi gelap mata karena uang, makanya wajar selama aku bekerja tidak ada satu rupiah yang ditabung. Sungguh egois.

Menjadi budak uang.

Aku diperbudak oleh uang, orientasiku hanya uang, uang dan uang, segalanya yang kukerjakan harus menghasikan uang.

Ya, memang dari segi keinginan memang terpenuhi, tetapi masih saja ada bagian dalam diri ini yang masih kurang, yang tidak bisa dipenuhi oleh uang.

Kepribadianku berubah.

Uang ternyata mengubah segalanya. Ya, awalnya memang mengasyikkan, tapi ternyata di akhir hari, aku menyesal karena dengan begitu bodohnya aku mau diperbudak oleh kekuasaan duniawi semata.

Aku semakin terobsesi dengan uang, segala cara dilakukan, bahkan tanpa segan untuk berani merugikan orang lain. Aku menjadi buta akan uang.

Menyesal,

Hanya rasa bersalah dan merasa lemah, atas apa yang telah kulakukan. Semua hubungan menjadi rusak pecah tak terbendung hanya karena uang.

Hubunganku dengan keluarga menjadi canggung.

Hubunganku dengan teman menjadi musuh

Hubunganku dengan Tuhan menjadi jauh.

Ya, hanya penyesalan yang kurasakan.

Tapi,

Kini aku menjadi lebih baik, lebih bijak, lebih dewasa dalam bersikap, terutama apabila berkaitan dengan uang.

Ya, masa laluku dengan uang membuat aku lebih belajar lagi tentang pentingnya penguasaan diri, dan kesiapan hati yang lebih baik lagi.

Uang memang penting, tapi jangan sampai diri ini sampai menghambakan uang atau bisa diperbudak oleh uang.

Bijaksanalah dalam mengelolanya, karena uang terkadang mampu membutakan hatimu dan melumpuhkan imanmu. Berhati-hatilah.
