The problem with L’Manberg was never who the current president was at the time. Anyone who was in that position with that much power and responsibility would feel like they had to make cruel and unjust decisions in order to defend their nation. Like Tubbo during the Pogtopia arc was arguably one of the most good characters, and he still ended up doing fucked up shit when he was the president, such as exiling his best friend, executing Technoblade without trial when he was just minding his business, putting Philza under house arrest (also without trial) soley because he didn’t want to help murder his friend, and attempting to murder Dream in a plan that violated his own nation’s values. And he justified all of it because he felt he needed to defend his nation. And L’Manberg never actually served them any purpose either, the reason they were all so keen on keeping it alive was because it represented an idea of freedom and safety. They were unable to see that L’Manberg never actually provided any such thing. But they’re still left justifying cruel acts in order to protect it, harming themselves and others in the process. The problem was never the president, rather the existence of the nation itself, as everyone involved became some of the worst versions of themselves in order to defend what was only an idea.

TLDR: Doomsday was based blow that shit up 👍

i think we need to start emphasizing the self-serving benefits of being nice to service workers. clearly people who are shitty to them by default aren’t going to be swayed by the empathy argument, but maybe this will make them understand. we need them to realize it’s not just hurting other people. being mean to service workers makes your own life appreciably worse and downgrades the service they’ll give you to the absolute bare minimum at best. if you’re nice, then you’ve now unlocked the special bonus experience where they’ll do anything to make you happy because they like you. it’s that simple

things you get if you’re mean to service workers:

maybe a one-time apology prize from the manager (not repeatable)

being ignored in the future

the bare minimum service level

lying to make you leave faster

a ban, if the manager is cool

things you get if you’re nice to service workers:

genuine smiles and waves when you walk in

compliments and gratitude for like, basic courtesy

genuine conversation, if you want it

discounts, sometimes

(food only) special decorations or off-menu options if you’re a regular

exceptional service!!!! because they like you and want to make you happy!!!!

if you won’t be nice to them because they’re human beings and deserve kindness, maybe be nice to them because it will make them help you more. it will make your experience in that place dramatically better. please. it’s so easy
