Round Three Round Up!
In Round Three we were seeing double as 6 out of our 8 pairs were put against their alternative selves and we asked why not pit two bad bitches against each other ?
In the only match-up where the newer version won out we lost another one of our tournament's Mr Knightleys as you declared that riding through rain, willing to ride through worse was not enough to win your hearts - instead he must have a proper understanding of muslin! And so Mr Tilney (2007) became our first Quarter-finalist.
Mr Knightley (1996) was not alone in taking his leave of us as your votes decided that Johnny Flynn's Mr Knightley (2020) was too blonde badly done compared to Mr Knightley (2009) and must go!
Mr Elliot (2022) will be likely soon spotted in town with a Mrs Clay on his arm as though he may have proved himself the hottest of the Persuasion (2022) men he was no match for Colonel Brandon (1995). Joining him in bad-boy exile is Willoughby (2008) who could not beat the man best known as Emma Thompson's husband leaving Willoughby (1995) as the last libertine standing.
In another win for Sense and Sensibility (1995) Edward Ferrars (1995) proved that while a Wet Shirt scene written by Andrew Davies might have worked once, Dan Stevens chopping wood in the rain was too blonde not enough to prevail against Hugh Grant and the power of being married to Emma Thompson in any universe, real or imagined.
Captain Wentworth (1995) also sailed through against his 2007 counterpart as the voters told us once again that they hated blonde men if it was made in '95 that man was staying alive for another round and so Captain Wentworth (2007) becomes only a gallant Captain Wentworth, in a small paragraph at one corner of the newspapers.
In one of our tightest run polls that went back and forth several times it was Bingley Vs Bingley but in another win for the '95 contingent - the curly hair clinched it and Mr Bingley (1995) proved the victor.
And of course I must end with the biggest poll of the week, breaching the walls of our little tournament to be voted on by 28,987 tumblr users, the poll that ended in a most well deserved 50/50 split, Mr Darcy Vs Mr Darcy. How could anyone vote for THAT Mr Darcy you yelled at each other - HAND FLEX! WET SHIRT! you cried! But when push came to shove despite 14,484 of you declaring that you loved him most ardently 14,503 of you had decided he was the last man on earth who you could ever be prevailed upon to marry and left that wet cat out in the rain. And so, though we offer him a most cordial curtsey we must say goodbye to a very worthy loser Mr Darcy (2005).
Thank you for all the excellent propaganda sent in - I will be taking a days break before putting up the Quarter-final polls, giving you until Thursday to send in any propaganda you want included on the main poll posts and me time to add it! But for now we must once again say...
Farewell Gentlemen!

Pride and Prejudice AU Anger Management (dp x dc)
Guess who just finished reading+watching Pride and Prejudice? And guess who’s now obsessed with making an Anger Management AU based on it? It’s me babyyyy (btw it's sorta more of a fusion than a proper AU I think?)
Casting: Jason as Elizabeth, his siblings as the bennet sisters. Alfred is mr bennet, Bruce is mrs. Bennet except they’re not silly they’re instead paranoid and emotionnaly stunted.
Jazz as Darcy, Danny as Georgiana.
Kon as Bingley (with Tim being Jane looool)
Vlad is lady catherine and dani is cousin anne.
Wickham is both the Al Ghul (Talia and Ra's) they pretended to be nice to the Fenton before trying to enslave/exorcice Danny.
Plot (which is basically just P&P but like slightly modified so it works):
Jazz & Danny got spit out the pits. The Al Ghuls pretended to be kind and honorable and stuff, and Jazz was just so happy the dimension they ended up in had some nice (though weird and formal) people. Then, she ends up finding Danny tied up and Ra’s talking about what an interesting specimen he is, and how he’ll help them figure out how to be immortal and all that. Jazz goes full-on Beserk mode and destroys the base + burying pits.
Vlad and Dani end up there too a little later, but she doesn’t tell them the specifics just not to interact with the League of Assassins. Danny is hurt and Jazz is still a bit feral. They end up in Kansas where the Kents offer them a place to stay for a while. So they do stay, and Superman+family end up being really nice people. She doesn’t tell them about the Ra’s, just that the trip between dimension was rough. She also says nothing about Danny’s power and keeps that secret because he’s still hurt and she doesn’t want anyone trying to take advantage of him.
Magic users recognize her as Queen Regent of the Infinite Realms and like everyone who’s met her agrees she’s a fair and kind ruler, so they respect her a lot. So Captain Marvel, Zatanna and Wonder Woman (after they mention Pandora) all vouch for the Fentons and they’re generally just considered really powerful and benevolent.
Anyways danny is severely injured (plus his powers are really reduced) and Jazz is so stressed about it not to mention the queen regent thing (she has paperwork and correspondence with Frostbite, Pandora and Clockwork for all kind of stuff to do, including making sure there is no war after the future King was kidnapped by humans wanting to experiment on him again!!!) plus making a good impression on the league. So she comes off as a little bit stand-offish especially to the heroes she doesn’t know super well. She’s been burnt by the Al Ghul and is just so busy and stressed she has little energy for socialization. She accidentally snubs Dick which everyone in the batfam takes as an insult plus a lot of the younger generation heroes do too. General consensus is that she’s a bit stuck-up and only makes an effort for the big names (Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel).
Jazz makes a comment about Jason after Kon teases her about him (like “I know his type, pretty bad boy with a list of issues a mile long, not to mention how shit at emotions the bats apparently are”) and he overhears and is like not like I would want to end up with such an arrogant snob no matter how handsome she looks.
So anyways, they end up going on a few missions together and Jazz gets to see that Jason is actually a really good person who does his best and wants to help everyone so bad. Also, he’s so good with kids and Jazz is 100% sure Danny would love him despite him hating most of her previous boyfriends.
Meanwhile, Jason sees how she keeps taking down the villains faster than him and even takes on some of his that he was handling thank you very much, and assumes she’s being condescending instead of trying to be helpful.
She also talks about school that she’s started and how much she enjoys it because she heard he likes to read but he takes it at a dig at how he never completed his formal education which is a sore spot. She also sometimes completely disregard his suggestion when they go after supernaturals which fair but like super rude?! But it’s just Jazz being used to being in charge and having to wrangle a bunch of go in first, think of a plan later type of people.
(Talia has come by and fed the batfam an edited story of what happened with the pits, which makes Jazz look really shady.)
Danny sees Jazz is completely crushing on this dude and after hearing her talk about him for so long, he’s on board with Jason and also curious to get to know him. Danny tells her to go for it and ask him out. Meanwhile, they each agree to tell Vlad nothing, because he might not be as crazy as he used to be, but he’s still a complete ass.
So at some point, after a mission, she takes Jason aside and asks him out, while insulting his family accidentally (like makes a joke about reserving an extra table for his brothers to spy on them). She means it as a gentle tease, but Jason takes it as a giant insult, since it’s also super true so instead of just saying no, he goes for the snark.
“Thanks and all but I dont date future villains.”
Jazz is fucking insulted. “Ok wow. From what I heard everyone in your family has at least one alternate version of themselves whos a villain, so keep talking shit?!”
“Not even trying to hide your contempt for us now are you?”
“I don’t have contempt for you guys.”
“No? You told Kon he shouldn’t date Tim!”
“That is NOT true! I said to take it slowly while he deals with his identity issues as a clone first to make sure he doesn’t jump into something new while he’s not ready!”
“Yeah, sure. I’m sure it’s got nothing to do with how 'shit at emotions' my family is.”
“Well, it doesn’t help that you’re all emotionally stunted, no!”
“That’s your excuse for Tim, sure. But what about that nice little tale Talia told us?”
“Talia Al Ghul?”
“Yeah. Now why would a hero like yourself cause the complete collapse of a secret organization they should have no knowledge of considering they had arrived in the dimension less than a week ago? I mean, I know they’re assassins and all, but I thought you guys had landed in Smallville, Kansas. That’s a long way to go if you really didn’t have designs on the fucking pits. Did you or did you not burry the pits where no-one except someone who can go invisible and doesn’t need to breathe could access it?”
“I did.”
“And you want to tell me you’re not a villain? You may have everyone else fooled, but I know what you are.”
“Fine,” she says. “If that’s what you want to think. Sorry you had to endure my presence for so long.”
She leaves him a note still, because she knows at least some of the batfam have had contact with the pits. She knows he’s a good person and actually really trustworthy plus how much he cares about children, so she trusts him with Danny’s secret. She explains how Talia and Ra’s have plans with the pits and liminals, and to look out for himself. She tells him to verify with Zantanna if he wants because she’s the one who helped put up the wards to hide Danny’s presence while he recuperates.
Jason is like, ok so maybe she’s not a future villain. So he feels a little bad about his outburst plus dumb about trusting Talia about anything, she’s a liar that is well-known. But he still stands by turning Jazz down coz she is genuinely sort of a snob a lot of times.
After that they go on a few missions together and Jazz acts much better, she actually listens to his feedback even if most of the time she doesn’t need to when it’s supernatural beings. She also seems way less wound-up and doesn’t say a word about how emotionally constipated the bats are, which she used to do way more often. She’s being polite, kind and open to suggestion and Jason is like so maybe I judged a bit fast. He also starts to see how many responsibilities she actually shoulders (Queen Regent, her brother, Justice League stuff) and he’s a little humbled by how well she does it. At some point he meets a Realm Ghost who talks about what a great Queen she is and all that she’s done for them and Jason starts feeling some feelings.
They meet up again for a low-level mission with a supes, it’s like undercover/surveillance about white collar crimes or something, and the vibe between Jazz and Jason is super good until he gets a call.
Damian/Cass end up captured on a mission by the Al Ghuls to experiment on. All the batfam is losing their minds and Jazz is like this is my fault they know about ectoplasm at all, because she trusted them and talked to much while Jason is like no I’m the one who should’ve told them.
Jazz goes and rescue the batkid. In exchange she offers one vial of pure ectoplasm (ecto dejecto) which she was saving for emergency in case she gets injured. She tells the Al Ghuls this is worth all the test subjects “from which you’ll try and extract it and it probably won’t work. So do your crazy experiment on that and leave liminals alone.”
So yeah the designated batkid is rescued (tho they don’t realize by who cause they’re unconscious) and Jazz asks Superman to take the credit for it. Jason learns it was Jazz and feels so guilty and grateful. He bakes/cooks something and goes to thank her. He meets Danny who is super excited to meet him and doesn’t know about the messy rejection coz Jazz didn’t tell him because she thought she might have deserved it a little bit.
So Jason sees how sweet Jazz is with Danny and how much more relaxed she is at home and he’s like ok, so maybe, maybeee I have a feeling about this. Meanwhile, Jazz is still completely gone on him (the man can cook!) and Danny approves. Jazz doesn’t really have the heart to tell him it’s not happening.
All the while, because of Jazz’s connection to the pits the batfam are super suspicious of her and keep making digs at her. Jason feels terrible about it (since she literally saved the batkid) but Jazz just takes it and answers back politely, cause she likes Jason still and doesn’t want to antagonize his family.
Meanwhile, Kon and Tim started dating and the whole batfam are like ‘finally!’ Kon defends Jazz anytime one of the batfam says something about her and they think he’s a little naive but they like him so they stop when he’s there.
Vlad ambushes Jason at some point and tells him he’s not allowed to date Jazz. And Jason is just like “fuck you I do what I want”. He eventually admits to Vlad he isn’t dating her, but when Vlad asks him promise he never will, Jason says “I’m not promising that, she and I can do what we want.”
At some point Jason and Jazz meet together by coincidence, and it’s a little awkward. Jazz has not been able to forget about him, she just likes him a lot so she goes, “I heard Vlad came by.”
“Yeah, what a weirdo.”
“Yeah, Sorry about him.”
“Hey you have to deal with my crazy family, it’s only fair.”
They laugh
“Sorry if this makes you unfomfortable, say the word and I’ll never mention it again, but I can’t help but ask. I still like you a lot and I wanted to know, could you maybe might have changed your mind about a date?”
“Yes. Uh, I mean for the date, yes I’d like to go on one.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I, actually, Um. I like you a lot too?”
So they end up dating and they actually like each other a whole lot. Danny is over the moon, as is Dani. Vlad still thinks Jason isn’t good enough for Jazz. The whole batfam is like wtf, I thought you hated her. Dick is the first to be like gotta make an effort for Little Wing’s girlfriend and ends up thinking she’s actually pretty cool. The rest are slower to follow, and Bruce is snail-pace. Alfred just likes that Jason is happy so he’s all for it.

Bound by Law (Matt Murdock x reader)
Words: 3765 (chapter 3)
Summary:
You and Matt met in the courtroom. Now, you may think that Matt was a knight in shining armour and defended you in the name of all United States laws, but that was not the case. Matt was totally destroying your client, and you wanted to tear him into pieces right then and right there, because with Murdock as your rival, your head is on the firm's plate with each case. Did Matt care? No, he only cared about bringing justice, he was a human-machine, driven by the need to bring righteousness no matter the cost. Or was he just that?

3. Start Of Something Better... or Worse?
Return to the office felt like the first day again.
Hogarth, Chao and Benowitz greeted you with the same coldness as it always did. You were used to it already. A couple of years of working here sort of hardened and turned you into another walking machine at this office.
Hogarth was your mentor from the beginning. She saw your potential and gave another chance, after you lost two cases at the beginning of your career. Then she gave another chance after you lost another two cases to Murdock. That rookie, as Hogarth called him. You felt respect toward all the lawyers you knew, but sometimes Hogarth's businesses made you question her sanity. And herself. But she was a good mentor, tough but good.
A pat on your shoulder brings you back into the office, where you find yourself standing in front of the open elevator. You turn and see no one other than Benowitz standing near you.
Often you saw Jessica Jones lurking around the firm, but never really questioned anyone about her business. Or her and Hogarth's business for that matter. Although you knew one thing - she was a private eye.
And a private eye was hired on your case.
Dots have finally connected inside your head, although a bit too late.
"Waiting for another, or?" He huffs a laugh, taking off his hand from your shoulder and gesturing for you to go inside.
"Oh, Mr Benowitz, a pleasure to see you again, after such a long time." You step inside and push the button "7", the door closes, and you go up.
"Yes, yes, pleasure's all mine, Miss Y/l/n, it's been a busy month to say the least, I'm sure yours too." He fixes his jacket, looking at you briefly. "Heard you won the case. So the streak is broken?"
"The streak of me losing against Murdock? Yeah, over." You force a laugh, feeling a bit awkward with technically your boss. Co-owner of the company, but still your boss.
"Glad to hear. It's good for the business. Can't let those small wannabes step on our heads." He lifts his chin up, a sign of authority.
"Although Nelson and Murdock is a smaller company, office even, they have lots of potential. Gotta say, Murdock is great in interrogation." You answer, feeling the need to defend your opponents. Blush colours your cheeks, and Benowitz raises an eyebrow, studying you for a moment.
"Yes, could be. Maybe. Never had a chance to go against him, but after such flattery from you, I'm sure he would be a worthy opponent. And a good one to destroy for that matter." He clears his throat loudly and fixes his tie, setting it so tight that his head pops out a little. The elevator stops and finally the doors open, saving you from further embarrassment.
Yes, he did follow you to the office. Yes, he felt guilty about it, but the curiosity got the best of him. Matt needed to know if you were going to do something about the case or just carried on with your life as if nothing happened. If the latter was your choice, he would have to help Darcy himself. In the mask. Matt leans on the wall and sits down, feeling weary from the last night's running and today's banter in the court. After all, you were a hard nut to crack.
You both step out, he goes into the direction of Hogarth's office, you - toward your own. "It was a pleasant meeting, Mr Benowitz." You call as he almost reaches the right turn, and waves his hand at your words.
"Dick." You say under your breath, and somewhere on the nearby rooftop, Matt Murdock huffs a laugh, feeling a lot at the same time - gratitude, anger and competition.
The ringing phone makes Matt jump a little, and he fumbles with it in his pocket and finally answers: "Yes?"
You unlock your office and drop the bag on the table, plopping on the chair and exhaling loudly. Turning on your computer, you go straight to the system and search for Jessica Jones. Minutes of scrolling result in nothing - Jessica's cases are private. Maybe you'll have to pay her a visit, but from the looks of her, she didn't like unexpected guests.
You debate on calling Murdock or Nelson, but as it was Matt's idea, you settle on calling him.
"If you still want to seek that justice, I wanna see all the documents from you and your client. Especially to know who was the P.I. that she hired." You simply state.
"Josie's at 8? Tonight?"
You sigh loudly, "this better not be a waste of time, Murdock."
"Don't worry, we'll entertain you, if that'll be needed." Matt smiles, propping his head back to the wall.
"You need anything about my client?" You ask, fumbling with the hem of your jacket.
"The dates of visits to the nursing home would be great. And probably the original will." He thinks for a moment.
"That all?"
"Yeah. So, see you tonight." Matt can't hide his smirk any more, although it would be weird if someone from the other building saw a guy chilling on a rooftop all smirking.
You say nothing, and awkwardly put away your phone. Since when is he so... Friendly?
Shaking your head for a moment, you get to work, collecting the documents and putting them in your briefcase. That's what you liked about working as a lawyer most - the briefcase. And, well, occasionally wearing a tie, just like today. Although now it began to feel suffocating.
Who knows what will happen tonight?
***
Exactly 5 minutes until 8, you enter the bar, hidden in the row of suspicious buildings and food stores, surprised by how crowded the small space already is.
Matt takes in a deep breath and smells your perfume. Trying to be discreet about his knowledge of your presence, he gently nudges Foggy, "what time is it?"
"Almost 8. What, can't wait for her to come?" Foggy, already two drinks into the evening, asks, smiling.
"Just checking if she didn't decide to bail." Matt lies, he knows you're now surfing through the crowded place, sniffing suddenly when a drunken man accidentally touches your hand.
"Well, even if she did, then I think this evening would not go to waste, right, Josie?" Foggy lifts his glass to the woman behind the bar, but she just raises her eyebrows as usual.
"Not really her style..." Matt begins, lost in thought for a second, when -
You almost aggressively tap both of their shoulders, "not whose style?" You look around a little and roll your eyes upon noticing that there is an empty seat. Next to Matt.
"Yours." Foggy blurts out.
"My style of... What?" You sit down, trying to get comfortable on the uncomfortable bar stool.
"You're never late. That's your style." Matt says, seeing as there is no other way out, only to answer.
"Precisely, Murdock, I'm even 3 minutes early." You check your rather expensive watch, which one would leave at home at this hour in Hell's Kitchen, but you didn't give too much thought about it, as there always was a switch-blade in your purse. Lesson learned long time ago.
"Care to start off with a drink?" Foggy suggests, somewhat ready to get drunk tonight.
"A Martini would be nice. If this place serves something like that." You say rather loudly, and Josie rolls her eyes.
"She doesn't like when someone's rude, just a heads-up." Matt leans closer and says in a hushed tone.
"Josie, put this on our tab!" Foggy leans to grab a tissue to clean up his glass.
"So, gentlemen, you still want to do that case? Or are we already celebrating my today's victory, Mr Nelson?" You smirk, tapping your briefcase impatiently.
"Whatever Matty here says, I don't think I'll be big help anyway." Foggy answers, glancing at his phone. "Honestly, I am already very much comfortable with the outcome."
"How's... Marci?" You suddenly ask, as if you don't know that they were both each other's casual hookups and now broke up. Or at least the public seems to think like that.
"Oh, no, right through the heart." Foggy abruptly stands up and disappears in the direction of the bathroom. Probably.
"C'mon, don't be mean, at least to Foggy." Matt grabs his drink, and you notice that he's sipping an Old-fashioned.
"So that means that I can be mean to you?" You nod to Josie when she pushes your Martini in your direction.
"As if you're not always like that. And to answer your previous question, yes, we're doing the case." He feels how the alcohol burns his throat. He can smell your perfume, the rather expensive mouthwash that you used just before leaving, and the overwhelming smell of the bar.
"Alright then. Although, when you mentioned the bar, I hoped for a calmer place." You take a sip of your drink, feeling rather surprised by the quality of it.
"What, can't focus?" He smirks, focusing on the steady pulse in your wrist, under the cold metal of your expensive watch.
"You wish. Now, tell me, who was the private investigator that your client had hired?" You put your elbows on the table, a very unlike-lady move, and lean on them, watching the reflection of dim lights and bar sign on Matt's red glasses. He hasn't shaved in a couple of days and looks quite weary, but a smile still appears on his face from time to time.
"I called Darcy today, and she told me that it was a guy from New York, then called him but he wouldn't give any answers."
"The client data protection?"
"Yeah." Matt drinks again.
"And what about Darcy herself? She's supposed to tell you everything." You press further.
"Darcy now says that it was all a mistake."
"So we drop it-"
"No." Matt interrupts quickly and you raise an eyebrow.
"Oh, right, the thirst of justice cannot be drowned in one old-fashioned." You say in a theatrical manner and make Josie huff a laugh. Foggy returns, clutching his phone and looking slightly out of breath.
"I told you we had nothing." Foggy nudges Matt, the latter shakes his head.
"We have plenty... To uncover." Matt turns his head in your way, and for a moment you get the odd feeling that he actually has sight.
"Okay, okay, your Darcy is almost a saint. Now onto my sinner." You sigh dramatically, and open your briefcase, pulling out a couple of sheets of paper, shaking the previous thought out of your head. "I know it's hard for you to believe, but believe me when I say, poor guy really decided to get back the lost time with his father." You give the documents to Foggy and he skims over, then gives them back to you.
"She's not lying, Matt." Foggy finishes his drink and gestures for another.
"Slow down, pal, we still have things to do." Matt puts Foggy's hand down, but too late - Josie's already making another drink.
"Matt, I'm telling you - there's nothing wrong with the case. Guy's squeaky clean. And now helluva rich too."
"It would be wise to listen to your friend, Murdock." You smirk from behind the Martini glass.
"But what if we do the DNA test?" Matt doesn't give up.
"So? It changes nothing. Darcy was too late to declare herself as the lost Donovan. My client noticed how his father's health began declining almost drastically and then decided that he wants to spend his last moments with him."
"Well your client could share some money now that he knows that Darcy's his sister." Matt says ignoring your last sentence.
"Possibly his sister." You correct him.  "He doesn't care much about her existence as he had lived a pretty good life without her up till now. Remember, he has his own family to care about, as well as his mother."
"Y/n, do you ever feel compassion for other people?" Matt snaps, Foggy raises his eyebrows and quickly downs his drink.
"How is this now about me being compassionate for some money-thirsty chick?" You loudly put down your glass. "I see people like her everyday. I live among them, Murdock. It's hard to feel something for them other than despisal." You grab the edge of the table to keep youself in place.
"Wow, wow, guys, guys." Foggy stands up, putting a hand on yours and Matt's shoulders. "Relax, let's just drop the case and have a drink. Another round, Josie! You look amazing tonight!"
"My job doesn't let me put the compassion before the raw facts. You should know that after years in law school." You say now in a warmer tone, somewhat softer.
"Don't forget that were doing the same job." Matt whispers.
"How could I? You guys are the constant pain in my ass. Why do my clients' rivals always go to you, huh? What charm do you have?" You motion with your fingers at the two of them, who would look like they went out for shopping if they were not wearing the suits. You had changed your clothes to the more suitable for an evening in the city rather than putting a label all over yourself that you're a lawyer. Although the huge advertisement in Manhattan does little to protect you from being recognized in the streets.
"He has all the charm." Matt points to Foggy.
"And the moves! Don't you ever forget them." Foggy puts his hand on Matt's shoulder and squeezes a little. For a split second you wish you had a friend like that here with you now but Pug was all the way in Los Angeles, trying to get a good career.
"The moves, eh?" You sip your Martini again, lost in thought about this whole evening.
"Listen, guys, as much as it was fun, I have go to bye." Foggy grabs his jacket and melts in the crowd.
"Did he just say 'have go to'?" You ask, suddenly feeling sweaty in the place. Josie is working like a bee behind the bar, people are shouting something about last night's game.
"Yeah, he does that pretty often." Matt smiles briefly before his expression returns to serious one. "Listen, y/n, I'm sorry about what I said."
"You can keep it, I didn't ask for an apology. So, we're done with the case or not?" You reach to grab the papers scattered on the table and Matt does the same, which results in your hands grabbing his briefly. "I-I'll do it."
"Sorry, okay." Matt drops his hands and rests them on his thighs. "Yeah, I think we're done."
"We could've talked this over a phone call." You sigh, and put the briefcase out of your sight.
"You don't like my company?"
"No, it's lovely, especially when you're paying for my drinks." You smile and motion for Josie to make another one.
"Just this one time. Consider it a gift from Nelson and Murdock." Matt lifts up his glass and waits for you to do the same.
"To my victory," you clink your glass with his and watch Matt drink it.
A moment of silence passes between the two of you, when Matt decides to break it. "I've heard you're on the billboards now."
"Who told you that? Nelson?" You laugh a little but don't succeed in avoiding the question.
"Mahoney."
"Sergeant Mahoney?" You raise an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he, uh, said something along the lines of 'have you seen that huge billboard of those crickets from Hogarth, Chao and Benowitz?'" Matt tries to mimic Mahoney's voice.
"Ah, that's how it is." You sigh, spinning the glass in your hands.
"What's the slogan? He said something about it." Matt knits his eyebrows.
"Here for your truth. The team of the people." You mock, Matt breaks into a grin again.
"I'd say that's a pretty damn difficult job, being the team of the people."
"Yeah, yeah, don't you start too. My mom's been not shutting up about it as if I got paid to pose for that picture. I swear, we look like a bunch of morons."
"Oh, now it's really a pity that I'm blind." Matt pouts a little.
"God really saved you from that one." You finally say and get embarrassed immediately. "Sorry."
"No, don't worry, I'm used to it."
"You shouldn't be." You say compassionately and drink again, after couple of glasses, you started to feel a little tipsy.
"Wow, was that you being compassionate?" Matt pretends to be shocked.
"Yeah, yeah, don't get used to it." You finish the drink and notice that another full glass awaits you. "Listen, Murdock, I'm going to smoke for a moment, keep an ear on my drink, will you?" You stand up, grabbing your purse and gently tap Matt's shoulders on your way out.
"Keep an ear?" He laughs out loud. "Never heard that one before."
"There's always first time for everything. Don't be too sad without me." You go outside through the backdoor near the bathroom and walk into the cool evening weather. Dim-lit alley and cold stone walls create and unpleasant effect and you shiver a little in your short-sleeved blouse. You light up your cigarette and notice that there are few people in the alley as well, two couples who can't get their hands off each other, and a guy who is currently having  a heated conversation on his phone.
Feeling rather uncomfortable, you don't allow yourself the pleasure of a slow smoking and inhale two puffs in a second, feeling rather overwhelmed by the nicotine and all the Martinis you've had. The guy finishes his phone call and looking rather pissed off, makes his way toward the entrance, just a couple of steps from where you stand. He stops briefly and looks you up and down, then closes the door that he had just opened a little.
Matt senses how your heartbeat picked up almost immediately and how you radiate anxiety. He focuses on the guy now who just grinned like he saw a jackpot. But that jackpot was resting on your wrist.
"Hey there, princess. Got a cigarette for me?" He leans on the door, full weight, you grip the strap of your purse.
"No, sorry, bud, that was my last one." You bat your lashes at him, already plotting how you were going to kick him in the knee and grab the switchblade from your purse.
"We can share, I don't mind. Especially when the company is so..." he licks his lips like a predator, "stunning."
"Listen, I think you should just go inside." You exhale a cloud of smoke and reach for the handle.
Matt stands up, grabbing his cane and starts walking towards the back door.
"I don't care what you women think. But you know what I think?" The guy asks, taking a step closer to you.
"No, but I'll ask out of respect. What do you think, big guy?" You grip the cigarette tightly.
"I think you would look amazing while gasping for air, choking on my huge cock." He touches your arm and you push the still hot remaining piece of the cigarette in his face and while he's distracted, try to kick him in the knee but just then the doors open widely and you see Matt walk out of the bar.
"Everything alright?" Matt asks, suddenly appearing next to you.
"Oh how nice, your saviour is blind. Real treasure you are." The guy gets ready to strike Matt first, but you quickly grab Matt's cane and stand in a fighting position.
"Y/n, what are you doing?" Matt whispers, his hand unconstiously reaching for you.
"Shut up, Matt." You launch on the guy and push the cane into his stomach with all the strength you have, he gets pushed into the wall. The two remaining lovebirds run away from the alley and suddenly it's just you three.
Matt has to think fast. He can easily take out the guy but under no circumstances you can see him fight. He can't push you away because you would worry more about him as he is blind. There is no time for thinking when the guy pushes himself away from the wall and comes at you - just then, Matt jumps in front of his fist, getting a punch right to his face and falls on you.
"Oh my god!" You exclaim, and almost manage to catch falling Matt. The guy stands there for a moment and upon noticing that he really hit a blind guy, suddenly disappears in the shadows of the alley, leaving you and Matt on the ground.
You, shocked about the whole thing, get on your knees on the rough ground and gently tap Matt's face.
"I'm alright, I'm alright." Matt groans and tries to stand up, but you stop him by gently cupping his face in your hands.
"No, you're bleeding. He just cut your lip." Your thumb circles on his chin, you feel like you shouldn't touch his lip, although you really want to clean the blood from it.
"Are you okay?" He sits up, grabbing your wrist, feeling how your heart is ramming under the soft skin.
"Yes, I'm good." You sigh and sit back on your heels. "That was so stupid of you. How did you know anyway?"
"It doesn't matter. Did you just kick him with my cane?" Matt turns the talk on you again, standing up.
"Not very helpful, was it?" You huff a laugh, suddenly feeling embrassed by the whole scene.
"Well, it didn't stop him for long, eh?" Matt puts his hand out and you grasp it, getting up and cleaning your dirty knees a little. "I think you should really start smoking with a company."
"Yeah, right." You give him back the cane, and open the doors of the bar again. "I owe you one, Murdock."
"Oh, I wonder how would you ever repay it?"
"Probably with my face stopping a fist. Eye for an eye, that's what the Bible says, right?" You step inside, Matt following right behind you. "We should call it a night, right?" You laugh, although there was nothing funny in this whole situation.
"Yeah, you're probably right. You walked here?" Matt finishes his drink and leans on the bar.
"Unfortunatelly. Although it's just 20 minute walk." You grab your purse and push a 50 dollar banknote towards Josie, who smiles as if she just won the lottery.
"Let me walk you. It's not safe to walk alone." Matt follows you out into the main street.
"I'll get a taxi. And you should get that cleaned, infections are a bitch." You gently touch his chin again, fingers brushing on his spiky stubble. "Goodnight, Murdock." You quickly walk away, already wawing to a nearby taxi driver who has just dropped his cigarette on the ground.
"Goodnight, y/n." Matt sighs and upon hearing you drive away, he folds his cane and starts running in the direction of his home. The devil has some unfinished business tonight.

ahaha i just watched MoM :)
here are my fresh thoughts on it
visually, the film is stunning. the thing about doctor strange films is that the film production is absolutely allowed to go ham with the cinematography. mystical shit, bitch, absolutely weird. it was why the first was my favorite, and why i anticipated this one (probably not as much as i did for nwh, but what can i say lmao spiderman funny i am tired college freshman epic !!!)
like some of my favorite shots or scenes were definitely homages to horror films. the reflection/mirror dimension parts going for the ring, and the tunnel chase scene being what i think is an homage to the shining (?). a lot of those are scattered throughout MoM, and i thought those were really cool. thank u mr raimi
however
plot-wise? not good.
uhhh
lemme just narrow it down to some points,
wherein the screenwriters, evidently,:
did NOT pick up on the nuances of stephen and christine's pre-canon lovers-to-friends arc in his first film
surely, only solely watched the what if? series to put in the concept of strange feeling more romantic love than he actually did in the mcu (to be fair, ol' cabbagepatch really sells it well, it's the VA expertise in him)
did NOT watch wandavision,
OR took away from it the idea that wanda only became a... questionably redeemable villain. yknow, after she took down a witch who would only hoard and harness her powers to herself without the guarantee of westview being set free
ignored the fact that wanda herself imposed seclusion and self-exile after westview, because That is how she learned to let go and so that she wouldnt hurt anyone anymore
DEFINITELY ignored the fact that people like monica, darcy, and jimmy acknowledged that she was at the peak of her grief, and knew she was ultimately good underneath all of that
kinda forgot about billy and tommy's powers, and how if they had used them against the scarlet witch in defense by the end, it would likely still make the point they wanted it to
uhhh once again denied a character who has suffered throughout her life even the tiniest sliver of a redemption arc OR real mental help that can be talked about. she doesnt visibly come out of there alive, there's no small seconds of her facing justice but getting proper healing and adjustment that she needed. they literally said that the darkhold (if i am spelling it right, edits abound) corrupts the user. ok, and as the scarlet witch, a literal nexus being, one of the most powerful people out there, couldnt be given the chance to gradually overcome that by the end?,, what is the point of establishing her as a key figure if she justs becomes the big bad to be vanquished at the end of the day?
also lol skipped over mordo being "the guy that tries to kill doctor strange every now and again", like he didnt have a large role in the first film
and many other weak points that may come to mind later on
so, basically, you mean to tell me that throughout all of wanda maximoff's life in the mcu, she never gets another channel for her grief, and that is how exactly she dies? her story doesn't become one of those that essentially say, you get to carve your own destiny and your position or actions or whatever people say dont make you completely evil. no, no, it doubles down on the fact that she's a wicked woman, or turned into one because she lost her kids.
also its crazy because.. idk if it's the angry wanda stan in me right now just after watching the movie, but i cannot remember what stephen's role was. was his arc set on becoming the guardian and mentor for america chavez? was it another lesson for him on how actions have consequences and so does his pride? or was it solely hinged on love and want for christine? hm. he's the titular character.
great cg tho thats what im saying, and all these actors still bring all theyve got to the table despite the weak script.
honestly, way back at the beginning before more details of the film's production were announced, i thought mordo would be the antagonist. y'know, because they alluded to that in the first film's end credits scenes AND because he just is in the comics. like he'd do something or find a way to fuck up sorcerers and magic in the multiverse, because he literally said "no more sorcerers" or smth like that after his disillusionment with the ancient one, so it would be up to a doctor strange/scarlet witch teamup to stop him. and ofc wanda and stephen could have their debate on who's more villainized and why, but still have them be on the same ground. you would expect wanda to be tempted by mordo, with the promise of her children or universes where she's with them and her husband and her brother, but she wouldnt be the total rushed villain and redemption would at least still be on the table. stuff like that, yknow.
:))
but no. that is not what happened, indeed.
(altho john krasinski as reed richards is cool in concept. it fits, and id like to see more of him in that role ngl.
sir patrick stewart as professor x... definitely done dirty with his quick death [as is the case with all members of the illuminati, why are they in charge if they can get taken out like that] but otherwise extremely cool to show his impact And his powers. you could feel that he's got the heart when he went into wanda's mind for a bit. i personally havent watched the x-men films in his and sir ian mckellen's era, and yet somehow because ive got flashes of knowing about it from childhood i get to feel like ive missed him. thats fun)
so did i enjoy it? kinda, yea. a 6-7/10
would i watch it again? only for the sheet music battle scene because i want to properly hear the soundtrack to see how it fits the moment.
otherwise, no. i'd rather rewatch the first doctor strange film, wandavision, and any other fan fix-its.

As for Gale Discourse Cont., I think it’s also necessary to point out that he’s written as a Comedic Relief character. He unironically says stuff like “pish posh” and is voiced by a well-known (in England) comedian. Unfortunately, because this is a DnD based game, every character you interact with the most needs to be complex and have a tragic backstory and I have a theory his romance arch is heavily derived from Mr. Darcy from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie. I mention all of this because I am absolutely a Galemancer, and I had a bit of a turmoil about the interview myself until some other tumblr user (I can’t remember who) made a post about this. Seeing Gale through the lens of “oh he’s a silly little guy made to be the butt of all jokes but surprise! he has so much depth anyway” helped me take a breather and have fun with it again. Sorry this got rambley.
ok if you're rambling then i must be reading the dictionary. i think this is a good point to make, especially as an addition to the concept of how the writers view gale. and crucially, i don't think it really undermines people who found more depth in his character. because on some level this is true for every character in this game-- they're all an awkward trope and they grow as the game continues forward and you learn more about them. i'm glad that this perspective helped you re-enjoy the game!
a view of him as The Comic Relief Guy (and Arrogant Wizard) aligns with how the writers are talking about him, and a lot of characters can be viewed chiefly as narrative tropes. so, if galemancers and gale fans can bear with me here, i'll poke at that idea for a bit and why i think it's a good point to make within this long winded thesis i've been developing for two days.
wyll is probably the most obvious to start with in this trope analysis. he is objectively in the party, the voice of reason and a Good Guy. he will unambiguously support whatever the most like, goodhearted, positive, hero-type outcome. so we can classify him that way. i mean, his background is folk hero. then, you travel more with him and his story winds off in its own direction.
astarion is that foil to lawful goodness, and is presented as such. however, astarion also serves an important role in that he introduces one of the first instances of a potential party conflict to you. managing and understanding his vampirism is important to his character and to your party cohesion, at least in a roleplay sense. astarion is also meant to be a character that can frustrate you. think about the people who take bloodless, which is a literal stat negative, for him to be happy. that's an interesting trade that the writers are having you make, and in order to cure bloodless you have to use a spell slot. mechanically, this is the role he serves in the party narrative, and it's up to you the player to decide what you want to do with that. and then his story goes off in its own direction.
i could go on and position other characters in this stripped down way, but it's probably unnecessary.
with these two examples in mind, looking at Gale through this lens, i think he has a bunch of really important functions in the narrative and in the party dynamics. and similar to wyll and astarion above, you can come to view him beyond his initial trope. the biggest hurdle to his development is that his story is fundamentally integrated with the plot of the game. so, on some level, the narrative is unable to develop further on him because he still has that role to play. he has to still be able to kill himself even when the player has convinced him that his life matters because he is stuck in that narrative structure forever. he IS supposed to be the annoying guy who takes your stuff and eats it. you're supposed to have those moments of "oh no, what are supposed to do about this" just like lae'zel in the creche or with kithrak voss, breaking wyll's pact with mizora, and astarion's deal with raphael to kill yurgir. sometimes your companions make you do things that are really annoying.
but-- and this is the key-- gale's story doesn't have as much freedom to move beyond that, which is a fair complaint, even if there's not actually that much to be done about it in the grand scheme of things. (and i think this applies to lae'zel too, i just don't want to get too off-topic. and unfortunately i am not as familiar with her story, which is orin's fault.)
hopefully this comes across as me using your ideas as a springboard for my own, and not me twisting your words or hijacking something you said. i think that's an interesting perspective and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

kinda new to the tai... fandom why tf are we shipping mike carden with kevin jonas
My time has come.
okay first of all hi!!!! welcome, its small but cozy in here!
The short answer is there isn't any reason beyond it being funny, they never met or anything. They do technically have a tenuous connection in that TAI's former tour manager and TAITV star, Tony Marino, left them to work for the Jonas Brothers but that's it.
The long answer is that a livejournal user called skoosiepants posted this Stargate Atlantis TAI/Jonas Brothers AU that is like really good you know, for being a Stargate Atlantis TAI/Jonas Brothers AU.
Mike/Kevin is called "Skippy" because that's what Mike calls Kevin in that fic.
I think it got so popular because of how bizarre the pairing was, Mike was usually characterized as sort of the heal of TAI fics, frequently a violent alcoholic and almost always an asshole and now he was paired up with Disney kid Kevin Jonas with his purity ring?
Their juxtaposition is the other reason I think it became a thing, Kevin is sort of the classic romantic heroine, virginal and naive but headstrong and Mike is the classic romantic hero, not quite as intellectual as Mr. Darcy, he's just as brooding, and has the whole "asshole to everyone but you" thing going on.
Overall, I think its pretty cute! There is something very romantic to me about people writing hundreds of stories about two people who never met falling in love but that's the horribly earnest part of me, at the end of the day it is literally Mike Carden and Kevin Jonas.

hi Charity, I've just started on Pride and Prejudice and I read that you typed Jane as an ISFJ. I wouldn't say she isn't, since I'm just at the first few pages, but she seemed to me like a high Ne + Fi user, the way she has such pleasant opinions on everyone that seem unaffected by the opinions of others, and the way she is so 'positive thinking' about others (which does make me think of enneagram 9 and 7). though she is described to smile a lot so I guess that's a sign of Fe? I would like to ask if you typed her as an ISFJ because of her tendency to stick to social norms, and her agreeableness and proper-ness? is seeing things on surface level and believing the best in people a low Ne thing? as I thought sometimes, xNFPs are described to be like that as well. I'm only asking this because I relate to her, after a bit of religious teaching, I realised I tended to believe the best of people I met, and I tended to see things in a very positive way, and coupled with me mostly being in my own world, I only realised later that I was wrong.
I'm just starting the book though, and Jane hasn't appeared enough times for me to make a solid judgement on her personality. her agreeableness makes me think enneagram 279 currently, would you agree?
or perhaps I need to come back after finishing the book, but alas, I was so excited to talk about it. I hope you don't mind my questions.
Tumblr media
Ha, ha. Cute gif. I am really not that scary, am I? ;)
I am open to her being an INFP. I even had her typed that way for a while when I started doing this, but I overall felt she seemed more "appropriate"-minded than she cares about being authentic to herself in a Fi way. She is pleasant and agreeable and everyone loves her (which happens more with Fe users, since they adapt themselves to fit the situation). She does not theorize about anything and seems to want a simple life -- to be a wife and mother. She also lacks some discernment in terms of assuming the best of everyone and that it will all work out happily in the end (which is admittedly, all 9).
Much of what you suggest for Ne and Fi can be true of Ne and Fi, but it's also just... being a 9. She accepts everyone and assumes the best of them, she doesn't want to think of anyone as being hurtful to anyone else or out to get them, she is giddy with delight when things work out pleasantly, and it is hard for her to say anything negative or mean about anyone else. She is a 927 for sure! (And Bingley is a 972, which means, as her father says, "you will always get cheated by your servants!")
I don't see inferior Te in her, or any Te at all, even though Lizzie does say that Jane is so private, she doesn't even share her feelings with Lizzie, when she's confronting Mr. Darcy about calling Jane a gold-digger ("I saw no evidence of her being in love with him). The bluntest thing she says is that Bingley's sisters are mean -- which is true but not cutting. Low Te has a way of being blunt semi-regularly, not out of any meanness but because FiTe is disconnected from other people and their feelings and absorbed in its own emotions.
ISFJ 9s can be quiet about what they want and their feelings, for fear of being inappropriate, rejected, or condemned; that is different from IFP 9s mulling over their feelings deep inside them and never expressing them except through gestures. With an ISFJ 9, there is just pure sweetness. With an INFP 9, there is also self-soothing through telling stories / getting lost in fantasies and/or being eager to explore the unknown (like Lucy in Narnia).
