What’s so interesting to me about Odysseus’s transition in Monster is that he hasn’t changed all that much. He was always capable of violence and we know that because of everything he’s done in the war and in his journey. The only change that occurs is he’s chosen to no longer feel guilty, and to stop hesitating when it comes to violence.

#look my outlook is everyone always is capable of horrible things. under the right circumstances we will do violent atrocious things #that capability is in all of us. Odysseus shows that he was always capable of killing (and killing an infant!) #the fact that he feels guilty doesn’t change his actions #sure he tries to be better and be kinder but at the end of the day his efforts matter less than his actions and outcomes #right? #yes he streamlines his violence but he’s committed violence before! #when one intends to kill the speed at which they draw their sword doesn’t change the outcome #feeling conflicted about the thing doesn’t matter if you still do the thing #so in monster what he decides is to stop trying to preserve his ideals of morality #but from that his actions won’t exactly change. he’s going to kill people in the future and really that’s no different from his past #in letting go of his moral preservation isn’t he returning to be just a man? a man with no illusions of himself? #my post #epic the musical #epic the underworld saga

#kingdom hearts dream drop distance #khddd #symphony of sorcery #scenery #my gif #i originally planned on splitting this set in two and wanted to create separate posts for both sides of this world #but i was surprised that i struggled with that and many of my shots didn't feel distinct enough when i put them all together #dunno how i messed that up so bad since this world has so much going for it #so i had to scrap a good chunk of what i made but i actually think it looks better this way so maybe it's not such a bad thing #sora's side is on the left (except for the last gif) and riku's is on the right #it gives you a better feel for how varied and different these magical realms are #and yeah that's what they're called #anyways i'm so glad this world exists because it's so experimental and different #everything from the visuals to the music and how sora and riku's battle sounds are instead replaced by more music #as if they're composing it themselves #which of course ties into how they must find and collect their sound ideas #it's all so incredible and works perfectly for a game centering around dreams #i hope we can see more unique worlds like it in future games too

There's something so insane to me about being able to create and recreate vintage or even ancient music, clothes, fabrics, building architecture, anything, really.

I watched this video about a lady who knit a WWII-era vest, and it was really unique, because the cable work would eat up yarn, when there were shortages of fibers. This pattern would have likely been used by people to send overseas to soldiers, and now it's being created in a time where this war has been over for generations. What were the people making this pattern thinking of? What about the people making the vest? Could they fathom a world where world wars didn't happen back to back? Could they imagine what peace felt like, or did it fade like a distant memory, a faint friend? All we have now are the remnants of their efforts, a "simple" vest that would warm the bodies of countless people the knitter would never have imagined were here on earth with them.

We're reaching across time to learn about other people - we're reaching our hands out just to grasp anything tangible. And when we've take hold of something, all we can do is say I love you I love you I love you

a pet headcanon of mine is that after they're done with the sigil removal, emira expands her horizons and starts studying the psychological side of healing, pulling in some resources from the human realm and combining it with boiling isles methods (i imagine the field of psychology in the boiling isles, while existent, was often pushed aside as just a lesser branch of the healing coven back when belos was in charge. i do imagine there's often magic like the memory tweezers involved)

and i imagine she ends up focusing in on like, art therapy and self-expression, because she knows how important that can be, after having her individuality stifled so hard when she was young
