i saw an au on ig and it was like. (by @/behrjbehr follow them or i will turn u into salad) techno was some ancient warrior cursed to sleep for 10000 years and tommy and wil wake him up.

and part of me wants them to like, drag him home to phil like

“PHILLL WE FOUND A HOMELESS DUDE”

and phil stares at them like “you WHAT”

and then he sees techno

and techno sees him

and they’re like that one spider-man pointing meme like

“PHIL”

“TECHNO”

“AYYYYYY”

but then another part of me wants techno to like. morph into an older brother figure to 2 orphans. and then they follow him around everywhere while he tries to figure out how to get around in the modern world

and then he meets other gods from before his curse (namely mumza and dreamxd)

and some of them are like “omg big brother techno that’s so cute”

and others (cough dream) are like “techno u fell off”

just some thoughts. may or may not turn this into a story.

One of the weirder things to come out of the dsmp I think is like. An over-reliance on fanon? Not that that’s a bad thing, because that’s about all dsmp fans had after summer 2021, but it’s weird.

Because you’ll have these tumblr polls going around and it’ll be like “Benchtrio versus Cumduo” and the propaganda for Benchtrio is that people really like the fics written about them. Same goes for any poll involving c!Tommy or the rest of SBI.

Even when it’s supposed to be a poll explicitly about canon, you’ll see the propaganda be like “I love reading fics about them they live in my head rent free” despite the characters never really interacting beyond fanfiction or headcanons, and they’ll win the round because they’re popular and they have a lot of fics written about them

Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily. Sometimes fanon is all you have, and that’s fine, it’s how things have worked for all of human history

What really confuses me though is the erasure of canon dynamics in favor of feel-good fanon. Take Benchtrio as an example: c!Tubbo and c!Ranboo were married, and c!Tommy felt left out and lowkey resented them for it. But in fics you see them all living and sleeping together as best friends and roommates/traumatized orphans. Or c!SBI: c!Phil and c!Techno literally nuked L’Manberg, which was c!Tommy and c!Wilbur’s pride and joy, and Phil killed Wilbur, and Phil would barely even look at Tommy in-lore, and Wilbur and Techno barely interacted outside of Pogtopia and even then it was. Not healthy. But then you look at their fics and they’re a nuclear family who have no problems with each other

It’s just a little weird to me when people take these fanon ideas and get pissy when people don’t take them as canon. I mean, if you go around saying c!SBI wasn’t a happy little nuclear family you’re liable to get death threats and insults and everything.

Are these fans the only ones like this? Absolutely not. There are people who send death threats over saying c!tntduo never canonically happened. There are c!Dream or c!Techno stans who get ANGRY if you say that they weren’t poor misunderstood angry babies because, in fanon, that’s what they are usually seen as. Fanon romantic c!Beeduoers versus fanon platonic c!Beeduoers is still an active war zone, and even trying to get close to c!DnF is a death wish

I’m a fanfiction writer, I know exactly how awesome fanon is, and I know just how important it is. It’s what’s left after the end of it all, and it’s beautiful in its complexity. But like. Sometimes people go weirdly overboard to the point of erasing actual canon and harassing people when they talk about actual canon dynamics or relationships.

we've seen in the c!dsmp how easily he's manipulated, and the same goes here

and you use that to your advantage

a couple honey-sweet words here, a threat there

tommy's yours in days

and if he was the only thing protecting himself, you'd be fine

the issue is that the SBI won't let you take him away that easily

thinking you're just another mortal with bad intentions, they start by confronting you (read: attempting to intimidate you)

tommy's not feeling well, you tell them, when they ask where he is, you're taking care of him; making sure he gets better

they think you're lying, but what they don't know is that the herbs you've been slipping into his meals work well

they've made him forget

yet you've aided that process too, with your magic

when they demand to see him, when techno pulls out his orphan obliterator and threatens violence, that's when you reveal your true form

all it takes is a flash of a sigil - your symbol - and philza's stumbling backwards

he's horrified

because this means that you - queen of the gods - have decided to take tommy, and that they cannot do anything

they're bound to your will, after all

after that, there's little they can do but... fall to your charms too

soon enough you've got a family of gods living in your palace, and none of them remember a thing

•His wings seemed a bit..weird at first not to mention how huge they were

•But you eventually got use to them once you went over to they're house constantly

•However your clothes may have a few small feathers in them, which are a dark grey considering his age

•He also lectures Tommy for cussing a lot, which you can hear all the time

•And you also hear a bunch of random noises from him at random times

•Usually his random bird noises

•But you may also need to help the old man finding his stuff since he's kinda blind

•Also helping him find his bucket hat finds someone (Tommy) likes to hide it. A lot

But what caught your attention was the moving truck that was outside the house next door to you. You started grabbing your groceries to bring them inside when a man approached you, he looked a to be in late thirties to mid forties. "Hey uh do you need help bring your groceries inside? I don't mind help" He said as he stood beside you. "Uh yes please, also are you moving in to that house?" You replied as you put down the groceries and pointed to the house next to yours. "Yes i am actually, with my three sons, also my names Philza" He replied as he brought the remaining groceries near your front door. •The most odd thing was that he collected guitars. A lot of them

•Like, guitars from the early 1920's type of guitars from different places around the world

•He accompanied Tommy when Phil told him to go just incase Tommy chocked out

•He showed you his guitar collection when you came over

•He kept asking you where things were in the city since his family didn't know anyone else

•Since the first night, you can hear him and Tommy fighting about the most random stuff

•He'll introduce you to his 'twin', techno

•Since he's only been in the neighbourhood for a week when he introduces you to techno, he may ask you to come with him when he's going somewhere so he doesn't get lost

•He will also scold Tommy for being rude to you at first

•"Oi Tommy knock it off you gremlin" is what you probably hear when you go over there for the first time

•He's probably the most polite excluding Phil when you first meet

•However when you come over (since Phil insisted first up), he'll be the one to strike up conversation with you until the awkwardness is gone

"Hey [name] before you go do you wanna check out my guitar collection before you go? A fair amount of it is vintage" He said as he cut Infront of Tommy who was talking to you a second ago. "Uh yeah sure but what about Tommy?" You replied confusingly. "Hey Tommy i think phil was asking you to tidy up your room, so why don't you listen to him and do it?" Wilbur said as he faced Tommy. "Fine." Tommy replied in spite and not long after Tommy left, Wilbur took you to his room where his guitar showcase was, everything was sorted into decades, from the early twenties to the current time.

•He didn't speak to you first up until Wilbur introduced you to him

•He has this..interesting vibrant pink coloured hair which was slightly faded at the roots

•He appeared to have these pointy tusks that came from his bottom jaw

•He collects a bunch of old blades of all sorts

•He's the most chill out of all 4 of them, once he trusts you enough he'll show all of them to you and when you first come over he may or may not show you a few swords that are more modern

•While the rest of the sbi sleeps downstairs, to sleeps upstairs because it's less noisy, so expect to see him from your windows just reading a book

•When you first come over, he'll start talking about mythology from all around the world and ask if you know anything about mythology

•If you do, he'll strike up conversation about that certain mythology you know about

•He'll feel more comfortable around you since your around his age, so expect a lot of "It's stuff only adults understand, into it [name?]" When Tommy tries to ask about something

•If you don't know about mythology he'll teach you about the basics of it

•He won't scold Tommy but he'll tell him to stop being rude since they're new to the neighbourhood and you've been her longer than they have been

•And he's also a bit awkward at first until he's use to you

Technoblade recently invited you to his room so he could show his blades to you, although he got a bit carried away when talking about the origins of a certain blade that came from a famous Greek soldier. "Books say the sword he owned was connected to the Greek god, Ares-" He rambled before the got distracted by another sword "Oh and this one has originally came from a Romen empire while they were at war, The sword was owned by they're ruler" He continued. Eventually you asked how he knew so much about these swords "Well, Phil had them before he gave them to me, and also, Tommy wasn't rude to you when he first invited you over was he?" He spoke up. "Well he was a bit rude but he wasn't too bad" You replied as you recall the interaction you had with the youngest a bit over a week ago.

•He first caught your attention when he was yelling at Wilbur about how he should get the biggest room since he's the better sibling out of the 3

•He then later was forced- or in his words at least, to invite you over

•Which he avoided until Wilbur went with him

•He was a bit blunt, snarky and slightly rude which got him a slap on the head from Wilbur

•And later got him a lecture from Philza which you could hear most the night

•But once you came over and he got comfortable with you, he was a lot more polite and vocal

•Even if he did comment on how 'old' you were

•But over all he was a polite kid (which he hated being called since he was a man according to himself)

You heard a knock on your front door, and as you opened it, you saw 2 people, someone around your age and someone younger who looked to be around 16. "Uh yeah hi, We wanted to know if you wanted to come over one night" The younger one said, Who you were assuming is Tommy, the youngest one Philza told you about. "And who may you two be?" You asked curiously just incase you got them confused for someone else. "Tom. And this bitch is Wilbur" He said quite bluntly as he received a side eye from Wilbur then a slap on the head from him. "Tommy don't be so rude." Wilbur replied as he smacked his younger brother on the head. "Well uh- sure i love to!" You chirped, ignoring Tommy who was cussing at Wilbur.

in my funny headcanon au (it still doesnt have a name RIP…), i find it so sweet that the youngsters from benchtrio look up to tntduo as inspirational figures. of course since benchtrio are still teens, tntduo are already well into their adult years, like early/mid 30s.

tubbo, tommy, and ranboo are all naive ol folks. all of them being younger than 18, none of them know any better. and ofc being a bunch of dumb kids, usually they love making mistakes, LOTS of them. however, their past traumatic experiences put all of them in a position where they can’t properly enjoy their teenagehood, stripped of their innocence really.

ranboo struggling with recollecting his past and facing the heartwrenching possibility of being an escaped lab experiment, even though for years theyve always believed they had a true family back at his homeland. however, they struggle with knowing that they never did.

tubbo shielding himself off from his loved ones, avoiding intimacy and masking his emotions as much as possible, heavy memories stemming from his rough childhood living with schlatt.

tommy still recovering from the grief of losing his older brother, overwhelmed with the thought of his family splitting apart again, and recovering from his own death from years back.

although their lives have improved so much more now, their pasts still dwell in the background. as teens, these three always strive to seek others that can truly understand them, find some common ground and relatability with others that have dealt with issues just as difficult as theirs. i feel like that’s why benchtrio bonds so closely with tntduo and attaches to wilbur and quackity so much.

being old as they are now, wilbur and quackity have gone through so much. wilbur with post-revival, quackity with openness, both with rough pasts. in a way, i feel like all of them got along because of these shared experiences.

tommy has always stuck with wilbur since the day tommy was born, basically siblings of the same blood that you can never break apart. wilbur was the very person that raised tommy until they found phil. she helped tommy through his worst times as a kid, and after revival it was tommy that helped wilbur out of the mess he was in.

both tubbo and quackity dealt with how schlatt treated them. tubbo almost looks up to quackity as a father because of how much he understands him.

ranboo doesnt look up to a specific person in particular, but has always wanted a place to fit in. after meeting the sbi, tubbo, and quackity, thats where he started feeling like he truly belonged.

i have no specific name for this au, but i love to think about the connections all of the characters have with each other, and thats been the main subject of the au. like one huge hub of folks that have found ways to get along, almost slice of life-ish, where although everyone still has their own issues, theyre all trying their best to enjoy their lives and recover. healing au? revival? i really dont know if i can find names that arent already taken, might need some help BWHAGAH! thank you lots for reading! :)

emeraldduo headcanons because they’re my entire brain rn 

phil who found techno only because he tried to steal his gold once in a market. phil who saw the most odd, troublesome looking child in the world and went “yeah i want that one.”

phil who taught techno with the books he had on hand, most of which happened to be either battle strategies (sun tzu art of war) or agriculture. queue potato addiction.

phil teaching techno how to fight before he realizes that he was probably born with a sword in his hands. mans silver tounged but in the language of ✨violence✨ (ty to @ethereal-kloud for that one)

techno who never thought it was weird to personally know Death and her Angel until he told people. who probably has tea with mumza every saturday as they talk about whatever gods talk about.

techno who has waged war on all baby zombies after what happened with phil. who kills them on sight in various slightly sadistic ways because it’s for phil.

techno who’s voices urge him to spill the blood of everyone but philza minecraft. perhaps it’s his connection with the goddess of death, or him knowing techno since he was a child, but they all forgo violence when it comes to phil.

philza who drops everything in battle to make sure techno is okay. part of him knows that he is, but the rest tells him to check anyway because at the least, the gesture brings him comfort.

philza who watched techno treat wilbur like a brother, patiently listening to his rants about sally and music and whatnot the same way he did with techno about mythology and academia.

philza who watched techno go from a cute little baby piglin to a beast the size of an iron golem. phil who remains unintimidated because it’s techno who has an emotional support polar bear and brings home at least three puppies every day.

technoblade who’s slow to trust anyone dropping his guard and allowing himself to be completely vulnerable with phil because he trusts him with his life more than he trusts himself.

techno who feels like he can never repay phil for everything he’s done for him, so he just does as much as what’s within his physical capabilities. case in point: “for you the world, Phil.”

technoblade who literally went out of retirement because they put phil on house arrest. who left his peaceful life because one of his best friends were in danger.

emeraldduo is just the superior friendship on the smp. no i do not apologize for being right.

Okay okay so I’ve had to take a break from writing atm because I’ve been so busy after the move it’s nuts so Jornos chapter 2 still needs a lil rewrite but we’ll get there. So real question now is what do I wanna share?

Okay so random headcanon. As it’s said Tommy is an orphan boi. His birth parents abandoned him were for two reasons.

They recognise something was wrong about Tommy and deem him different (just like everyone else) and

They’re outie borrowers and he’s extra dead weight.

They don’t know that where they leave him is near a colony tho and Imma say that they are eaten by a bird later ^v^ Tommy’s parents also weren’t sizeshifters themselves. One of their ancestors was and the gene skips every few generations.

Now you’ve probably notice I’m really playing into the borrower trope for this Au. I really like that whole: what’s this? And what’s that? Wait you use this for what? Scenes and I think it’s really funny! Tommy is constantly learning about new stuff. So when it is eventually revealed that he’s a size shifter, Tommy just explodes with question upon question about anything and everything he can think of.

It gets to the point that Techno gets Tommy a children’s book of objects to teach Tommy what things are (as well as improve his reading) and they’ll just sit in the living room playing like eye spy for Tommy to find out what things are called with his book.

This also ties in a bit in with family outings sbi go on. Because Tommys only ever really seen the world as gigantic for most of his life, he’s absolutely shocked to see just how big the world is! He’s shown a map of the world and finds it very difficult to comprehend just how big it is. Wilbur loves explaining stuff like that to him and will take him out all the time! He takes him to the Zoo a lot to show him the animals! He adores seeing his baby brothers face light up upon seeing every animal. Although he thinks it’s funny when Tommy dubs every animal Clementine…

Cooking with Phil though is an absolute favourite for Tommy. For a long time he wouldn’t eat very much because he didn’t want to be a nuisance and was stuck in the borrower mentality of take what you need, (which was like nothing in Tommys mind) but when Phil got him to settle down and eat properly, he wanted to learn how to cook too! Baking cookies is def his fav recipe to make. Not for the sugar rush or anything tho….

OH ITS MORESO LIKE i've always been really adverse to c!tommy just like. being shoved into a family dynamic, whether that be with c!sbi, or having shroud be her kid? Idk how popular the "Shroud is a child" headcanon is nowadays, but I've always preferred the idea of Shroud being Tommy's beloved pet that it just spoils the hell out of all the time yk? It's cute :3 But yeah it's always been a style of doing things that I'm not a fan of, just kind of shoving c!tommy into a family dynamic that hasn't really ever been hinted at? Like with SBI ofc it makes sense for her to be family with Wilbur because like. They're actually canonically related. But for Techno and Phil it's VERY obvious that they don't view Tommy as family yk???? Just weird to me that ppl try to shove tommy into family dynamics she's not a part of yk
