hiii !!! ^^ i used to be a die-hard fan for exo, the got7, and then nct. now i mostly listen to girl groups - new jeans, twice and ive are really good !

2baddies1stlisen: honestly i saw lots of ppl hating b4 i watched it but i like it…. chorus is rlly good + a total earworm it was stuck in my head after just the teaser came out. it looks like all the members put 110% into the mv they all look very cool. styling is fine i love yuta’s outfits in particular. one thing i wanted more from is the mv itself i was hoping for like a need for speed kind of thing or even more like the regular mv but it feels very constrained (sticker was also a mostly cgi mv but it had more elements to it that helped make it interesting). i do like the rave/neon light elements tho. overall i def like it enough to stream it.

𖤐 ʾ ⠀ ❪ PASSION is the debut studio album of the first sub-unit of the girl group ENVIE, titled the same name, released on February 26, 2024 by FLEURY RECORDS. The unit consists of the two idol members Ying Jiali and Lee Kiyeon. The album is made up of a total of nine tracks, with MONSTER serving as the title track. Alongside Monster, the duo promoted two other side tracks during the period: NAUGHTY and ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID.

The album went onto be a success, ultimately. All three promoted tracks charted in the top 5 of music charts, with Monster peaking at #1 and garnering 5 music show wins, accompanying 1 win for Naughty and 2 for All The Things She Said. The music video for Monster received 20M views in the first 24 hours of its release.

This era was (to no one’s surprise) very successful! Except for the fact that no one really expected them to be this successful. Not even the girls were a 100% certain that their debut would be met with as much acceptance as it was. Fleury, however, knew what they were doing. Yejun put a huuugee chunk of funds into this debut behind the scenes, everyone was looking at him a little sideways. But all he told them was to trust him and he did no further explaining. Yejun knew that they were going to be big. Those are his golden girls, after all!

There were a lot of TikTok’s made. They had a lot of idols on their account doing the ‘#NAUGHTY_CHALLENGE.’ Fans often made jokes about them literally hunting down idols in the halls of music shows to record the videos. The challenge included beloved idols such as STUPID CUPID’S CHESKA with Jiali, STUPID CUPID’S VIVA with Kiyeon, PARADOX INVASION’S DASHI with both the girls, NCT 143’S LILY with Kiyeon, THE PINKETTES’ CHARMEINE with both girls, DREAMCHIC’S MICKEY with both girls, NATALIA HWANG with both girls, all the members of ENVIE, and more.

Their variety show appearances were really popular but a little limited in comparison to previous promotions. They could be found on shows like THE MANAGER, PSICK SHOW, and even had their own mukbang series which aired on YouTube.

The choreography for Naughty was a hit, by the way. The dance practices circulated a lot during this era, many people praising them for their dance skills and synchronization together. It’s safe to say the two work really well together.

All The Things She Said was also a hit. The song trended and charted extremely well. The performances also went viral for the girls’ stage presence and chemistry onstage. It seemed like they really enjoyed performing the song, really getting into character whenever they performed it.

Monster of course was a success, charting highly upon its release, but somewhere along the lines it kind of got overshadowed by the other two promotional tracks. It did make noise, as expected, but after the first two weeks of the songs promotions it ended up falling behind Naughty and All The Things She said who received separate promotions from one another—two weeks dedicated to Monster, two weeks dedicated to Naughty, and one week dedicated to All The Things She Said.

There was a tiny problem with solo stans this era. Because the album exceeded the sales of every ot4 ENVIE release, there was a division in the fandom. Avoir’s fought over favoritism from the company, jealousy within the group and from other members’ fans, and even comparing all the members’ (talents, visuals, and solo success). It was a mess.

But aside from that, it’s safe to say that Passion was a smashing success!

Fact Check: Análise - Checando os fatos com NCT 127

Esta é uma análise autoral, sem intenção de ofender os artistas e etc.

Vamos voltar ao teaser Deities of Seoul, para compreendermos que o MV se trata da chegada dos Neos à cidade.

Como divindades, Jaehyun nos conta que eles se tornaram extremamente interessados nas vidas chatas e fantasiosas das pessoas lá embaixo. Uma referência muito legal deste teaser é ao digníssimo pôster de O Exorcista:

Quero pontuar também que, nos conteúdos extras feitos à respeito do comeback, se reforça esse conceito de "divindades", que acredito ser algo tradicional e motivo pelo qual os Neos aparecem trajados como figuras contemporâneas com um toque tradicional.

Aliás, não ficou belíssima essa dualidade entre a Seoul contemporânea e a Seoul antiga?

Minhas partes favoritas do MV são justamente as que esse cenário aparece. Dispenso as demais cheias de CGI, mas achei legalzinha a montagem do Mark caindo nos primeiros quadros do MV, pois parece uma tentativa de colagem.

O fato de eles estarem vestidos de azul e vermelho é bastante simbólico, não só por fazer referência à Limitless, mas também à bandeira da Coréia do Sul. O quadro abaixo é completamente meu favorito do vídeo:

Outra referência que quero comentar é ao trabalho dos artistas visuais Christo e Jeanne-Claude, que embrulhavam grandes monumentos, convidando o espectador a uma brincadeira de percepção do espaço. NCT estaria lá para "roubar" algo? ou simplesmente brincar com nossa percepção do espaço-tempo?!

Falando das versões do álbum, quero bater palmas aos stylists por terem - finalmente, diga-se de passagem - dado um conceito maduro ao NCT 127 em todos os photoshoots! Digo que uma das coisas que me "broxou" em Baggy Jeans, apesar de ter gostado demasiado da música, foi a escolha do conceito que parecia adolescentizado demais.

Enfim, agora falando das músicas do álbum!

Bem, a música título para mim é 10/10! Não é algo que se ouve do NCT 127 (a quem tenha tido a experiência singular de ter ouvido Sticker, por exemplo), mas ainda conta com o Hip Hop típico trazido nas faixas títulos do grupo, ganhando pontos para a sonoridade! A coisa que mais gostei, na verdade, é eles terem feito todo um conceito em cima de arte e exibição de arte e terem de fato colocado referências à arte na letra da música. Parade junta-se à Je Ne Se Quois, a segunda tendo uma estrutura semelhante a Bring The Noize, mas com intervalos que me lembram um jazz suave, como as outras duas músicas que nos trazem o Hip Hop do 127.

Falemos de um trio especial, que é o verdadeiro je ne se quois do álbum: Space, Yacht e Misty, que muito me lembra o City Pop e seus synths (outra marca sonora do NCT 127), e fecha esse ritmo nostálgico que o álbum traz.

Nossa querida Angel Eyes vem com instrumentos de verdade, que é algo que valorizo hoje em dia no meio dos Kpop's totalmente eletrônicos. Outra música nostálgica, pendendo para os anos 80, e que poderia facilmente estar junto de Promise You em Sticker. É ou não é uma música que você espera ouvir ao final de um filme estilo Clube dos 5?

Não ligo muito para baladas, e especialmente depois de White Night fica difícil que qualquer música a ultrapasse. Então, Love is a beauty fica ali no meio termo para mim.

Real Life é um amorzinho de música e fecha muito bem o álbum com a volta dos synths.

De uma forma geral, esse álbum me agrada, bem mais do que Sticker e 2 Baddies, apesar da organização de álbum do NCT 127 ter melhorado de lá para cá. Em relação a coerência de conceito, creio que Love is a beauty e Je Ne Se Quois entram no embalo da ideia de arte apresentada em Fact Check, e o resto fica por conta do tom anos 80 do álbum, o que já é visto nos trabalhos anteriores do 127. Atento para a falta de referência aos sonhos, tema recorrente nos trabalhos do grupo, mas uma nova abordagem que nos trás conteúdos relacionados à realidade; uma teoria minha, com o fim desta era de sonhos demarcada com Golden Age (NCT 2023).

So yes and no.

NCT especially NCT127 used to be in my stan list in like 2019 but after 2020 I just fell out of love with their music. Sticker was one of the faults of me unstanning. I still love ot23 though. Taeyong is one of my comfort idols but idk. I will always root for them because I want them to be successful but the way their music has been lately has not been my cup of tea.

honestly I think the last NCT127 song I genuinely liked was Favorite(Vampire) but I just can't get into it. I also haven't looked at their B-Sides either.

Long story short, love the members but the songs and music went downhill after Wakey Wakey era.

Will Protect You

❀ As the leader Taeyong really cares a lot about his members. Especially when it comes to JiHo, he has a zero-tolerance for people badmouthing her

“Wow,” a girl sighed in mocked fascination. “Just cutting your hair doesn’t make you a member of a boy group. You have to have talent first,” the same girl laughed — just loud enough for JiHo to hear — with her friend giggling by her side.

JiHo had to fight the urge to not roll her eyes; not that it mattered since the 2 girls were standing behind her and couldn’t see her face. The idol bit her lip in annoyance, but didn’t say anything, focusing on the barista giving her a compassionate smile.

“I can’t even believe she got into SM at all, let alone into NCT.” This time it was the friend speaking. Her voice was much more hushed and sounded a lot less confident, almost as if she was only saying it to please her friend. JiHo wondered why she would even say such a thing in the first place as laughing with her friend was already bad enough. When the bossier of the two roared a laugh, she knew the timid girl must have felt proud of herself, as she quickly joined in. Annoying.

With another pitying look, the worried barista handed JiHo her smoothie, which the idol received gratefully. She was about to turn around, not quite sure if she wanted to confront the two girls or not, but her “rescue” had already arrived.

Taeyong threw an arm around JiHo’s shoulders and gave her a playful squeeze on her shoulder. “Hi!” He smiled brightly, but it was easy for JiHo to sense the unease in his eyes. JiHo greeted him back quickly before he turned to face the 2 smaller girls. Immediately they seemed taken aback, being that close to such a stunning idol. “I’m sorry, could I maybe cut in line? We have practice soon and I’m gonna run late,” he explained, and the two girls wordlessly nodded.

“You okay?” he whispered in JiHo’s ear as the two turned back around and he ordered his iced coffee. JiHo nodded and pushed the leader’s arm off her shoulder.

“I’m okay, but I'd rather head out instead of you keeping me here longer,” she whispered. At first, Taeyong thought he had upset the girl, but the smile she gave him was enough to ease his worries. 

“I’m sorry, I really needed this coffee.” JiHo laughed genuinely at her friend’s words, making him join as well.

Something about JiHo genuinely laughing always melted the boys’ hearts. It wasn’t something uncommon, but it was something most fans didn’t get to see. Her cool and charismatic image was something outsiders were a lot more familiar with. And even with the boys and her other friends, JiHo could go days with being more withdrawn and quiet, so seeing her carefree and laughing was so contagious to Taeyong that he just wanted to join in.

That was until the two heard one of the girls behind them scoff. This time the girls were a lot more considerate and kept their voices down — likely because Taeyong was there this time. No matter how considerate they tried to be though, the two idols could still understand a few mumbled words. “Annoying laugh” and “so fake” caught Taeyong’s attention in particular.

The older of the two was about to turn around and scold the “fans” — the obnoxious phone case and tote bag covered in Jeno and Jaemin stickers, patches and pins gave that away — but JiHo was quick enough to keep him from turning around. “It’s not worth it,” she mouthed at him and all it took was a deep breath from the boy to regain his composure.

“Your iced coffee,” the barista announced, giving Taeyong his drink and he gave her a small bow in response.

Just as the two turned around to head to the elevators, the two girls took a big step forward towards the counter. The girl closest to JiHo, purposely shoving JiHo’s shoulder with her own, but what she likely didn’t expect was JiHo to lose grip of her smoothie and the drink spilling on both of them.

“AH!” the fan shrieked as the whole lobby turned to look at the situation. “You did that on purpose!” she yelled again and looked at her friend desperately. “This bitch can’t do anything but be a waste of space.” Now (fake) tears were starting to form in the girl’s eyes and her friend frantically started patting her friend’s shirt dry with tissues. “You—”

Just as the girl picked up her hand to swing at JiHo, Taeyong intercepted, grabbing the fan’s wrist tightly.

“It’s best if you don’t do that.”

Taeyong’s voice dropped an octave lower as he glowered at the girl. He held eye contact with her for another second, before the girl visibly whimpered in fear and then dropped her hand from his grip. “Don’t touch my friend, and don’t cause a scene,” he warned, causing all three female’s around him to widen their eyes in surprise. “Practically, the whole lobby heard you badmouth my friend, so if you want to keep any of your remaining dignity—”he scoffed”—then leave now and do not come back.”

“But oppa—”

“No, don’t talk to me. And I’m not asking you again. You can go and say anything you want about me, but I’m not standing here and let you talk like that to JiHo or about JiHo. She already has to deal with enough, she doesn’t need someone like you to bring her down personally. So leave before I ask security to ban you from this building for forever.”

JiHo had to admit that this protective side from Taeyong sent a chill down her spine. He might look just as cold on the outside as she did to people who didn’t know them, but Taeyong was the complete opposite of cold. He was caring and sweet, loving and oftentimes even weird but playful, so whenever he got into serious and protective leader mode he could be a little scary.

The two girls stuttered an apology — not to JiHo, but to Taeyong — before hurrying out the building. JiHo watched the two leave with a bitter feeling in her chest. People like them normally didn’t bother her that much, but since the whole situation escalated more than she had expected, she didn’t really know how to feel about it.

When she looked back at Taeyong, he was already ordering her another smoothie and helping the other barista on duty to clean up the mess that girl made. “Here,” he handed JiHo a few tissues as well and gave her a soft smile as he noticed JiHo’s unamused look. “I know you’re going to tell me that I didn’t have to do all that, but I would never let someone talk to you like that on my watch.”

JiHo sighed as she took the tissues. “Thank you, but really, we could’ve avoided all that. You didn’t need to interfere.” Taeyong nodded seriously in response, but he soon laughed. “What?”

“I know you grew up an independent only child, but you did join NCT and have a ton of older and younger brothers now that will protect you whether you like it or not. I can’t dictate how the others react, but I know I won’t stand by and watch people mess with our little maknae,” he almost giggled as he pinched JiHo’s cheeks, causing the smaller girl to slap his hands away. “So you better get used to it.”

“You’re annoying, you know that?” JiHo asked rhetorically.

“All of the boys are, you know that too right?” the leader teased. “Only annoying for you though,” he smiled sweetly, leaving JiHo to fake a gag in disgust.

“Oh God. Please stop. I might not be able to drink my smoothie after this.”

My little cousin is a tween and she got into SHINee from Don’t Call Me, which as a Odd Eye, Symtpoms and Dream Girl SHINee fan was uhhhhh weird to say the least and she LOVES this new track. But the entire time all I could think was. “This sounds like a song meant for NCT, but a bad song meant for NCT like sticker”. Are they just trying to get younger kpoppie fans because I guess that’s working since they’ve got a tweenie fan base starting up. I mean I’m not expecting Symptoms level of singing but the Story of Light with All Day All Night and Good Evening was pretty good… can they please let SHINee SING AGAIN??? (Sorry English isn’t exactly my first language so I hope this makes sense?) also thank you for getting me into Leo! I wouldn’t have discovered his last album if not for you! Which is funny because I remember back in your glocknee era when you still were sort of a shawol but understandable level of decreased interest considering how their music had changed so much. like i said the other day sm is really having a company wide identity crisis and is trying to market to tweens en masse 😭😭😭😭 really saying fuck u to anyone 21+ which is weird bc sm has plenty of 20 somethings in the nct dungeon to attract tweenies. why the fuck are shinee and exo dressed like tater tots?
