Ida Schwartz cleaned up her dinner dishes and put her leftovers in the fridge, lamenting that she'd eaten dinner alone again. Her husband Ivan had passed away ten years ago from a heart attack, and her kids all lived outside of LA, so she spent most evenings at home alone.
During the weekdays, she volunteered at St. Joe's where her favorite task was holding the babies in the NICU. But on Thursdays, she taught an acting class at the community college. She'd been an actress in her youth with a contract at Paramount. She'd never been a star, but she'd made a steady living, and she'd met Ivan, who was a writer and producer for the studio.
After dinner, she went out on the front porch to water her azaleas and bougainvillea. It had been hot and dry recently, so she was trying to be sure to water them consistently in the evening. Maybe every couple of days for the bougainvillea. Glancing across her yard, she spotted Harry's grandson jogging down his driveway.
Satsuki Kusakabe from My Friend Totoro. I remember watching that back in High School and I haven't thought much of it till now. Man, I love her short hair.
this is dumb but it kinda sucks how I worked there for over 4 years, came in extra hours and skipped breaks, advertised for them and defended them including in the fucking legislation, and then I didn't even get the same going away party every single other employee of my department has gotten, including one who was there for like 3 months
I got sick this weekend, coughing like crazy, mild fever and extremely tired. Was scared like hell it was covid again. Felt like I should start accepting that I may never really have a fit body again. It wasnt covid. I recovered fast.
And then...
Important post-post-covid moment today: riding the ten mile commute on my racing bike rather than the electric bike!!! Yes!!! Took almost 9 months before I could do that casually again, and then still have energy to work and think! But I'm here!!!!
