Fuck it Friday
tagged by @disasterbuckdiaz @daffi-990 @fortheloveofbuddie @steadfastsaturnsrings @spotsandsocks @exhuastedpigeon some more audiobook narrators au! feat. Shannon!
“Can I confess something to you?” Shannon asks. They’re in the back of his truck. After Shannon’s meeting with Christopher’s school, what turned out to be one kiss ended up being two. Then three. Then before they knew it, they were headed towards Eddie’s truck trying to find a deserted road just like when they were horny teenagers back in high school. Now, they both have Eddie’s old blanket his abuela made for them wrapped around them. Clothes haphazardly put back on as they’re basking in the afterglow.
“Am I going to like this confession?”
“Maybe. I’m not sure. Still want to hear it?”
Eddie looks down at Shannon. Her eyes have a mischievous glint to them he’s missed seeing so much. Smirking back at her, he pretends to sigh in exasperation as he gives her the go ahead.
“I’ve listened to your audiobooks.” The confession makes Eddie tense up in surprise. He doesn’t know why it surprises him that Shannon has listened to his work. He does use his real name instead of a pseudonym after all. If Shannon wanted to look him up, his audiobook narration would be the first thing that would pop up. Maybe that is why he chose to use his real name. To make her curious about him. “Not all of them, of course. There’s too many. But a good chunk of them. I always did tell you how good you were at it.”
When they first got together back in high school, Shannon stole one of her mom’s romance books and made Eddie read one of them to her. At first Eddie couldn’t take it seriously, exaggerating the prose to his own amusement. It took Shannon’s repeated insistence for him to stop fucking off and try again. Eddie – being the immature teenager he was – still made fun of the novel until he read aloud a sex scene involving the male lead rubbing his lover’s clit. When Eddie asked Shannon what – and where – that was, Shannon became all too happy to show him.
After that, Eddie didn’t mind reading those romance novels aloud for Shannon.
“Please tell me you didn’t listen to the omegverse mafia one I had to do?” Eddie asks her.
That book was one of his earlier recordings. A book that blew up on Booktok and then somehow later blew up even more by becoming a movie on Netflix. Eddie doesn’t have any grudges against either tropes, per say. However he does have grudges against bad writing. Which this book had in abundance.
Shannon’s voice drops an octave in a complete replica of Eddie’s. “‘Baby, you’re gonna take my fucking knot. Prove to the entire mafia that you’re mine.’” Shannon snorts as Eddie groans. “It was my favorite! They should’ve casted you in the movie.”
“I hate you.”

Can you do another sunshine X grumpy trope but the reader is the sunshine and Klaus is the grumpy one? I read your other one and thought it was awesome!!
Tumblr media
Your soul is golden
It was unbelievably amusing watching Klaus be dragged around by someone who closely replicated a ball of sunshine.
She was always with him, skipping about while holding his hand and bringing him wherever she went
“come on Nik, there's an icecream shop down the street“ she would cheer while pulling a groaning Klaus out of the abattoir while his siblings hid their smirks and Marcel snickers in the corner.
Klaus would claim he found it annoying from time to time but everyone knew how he loved it. Having someone to bright always loving him no matter what. Someone to turn his horrible day into something fun and worth while.
“Love it’s not been a great day, just go away and come back tomorrow” he grumbled with his face in his pillow
“We don’t have to go out…we can just stay here” she compromised and lead down next to him, running her fingers through his soft hair. She worried for him often, his smile was so rarely on his face and she had never gotten him to properly laugh. His eyes held such sadness, hopelessness and anger. Of course when she looked deeper she could find those rays of happiness, love and his dreams but they were so buried by his fears and vengeance.
She spent most of her time trying to lure and coax who he once was forward. Not that she didn't love him the way he was, she adored him and the way his lips pouted as she frowned. How his eyes would roll whenever someone said something a little too joyful for his liking, when he would growl in annoyance and his eyes would glow golden.
She loved his eyes, blue to gold and back again. How they would become darker when lustful and lighter when she entered the room.
Often he was shameful of his hybrid face. She was so sweet and bubbly, she didn't deserve the monster he was known to be. But then she would have his face in her hands and he couldn't help but lean into her touch. She would give him such a gentle smile
“Nik, your soul is golden, your eyes prove that to me.“ she would tell him as many times as he needed to hear it because she meant it and he slowly began to believe it.
And so seeing him so down once again was disheartening. But she wouldn't let him be alone. He begrudgely turned onto his side to face her, bags hung from his broken eyes. Her thumb stroked over them as she gave him a sad smile
“what happened?“ she whispered
“nothing you should worry about“ he muttered
“I'll always worry for you“ she said with a frown making his heart ache. How he hated when he made her frown, her smile was a gift he knew he never deserved but he had it and it pained him when it left him.
“you mustn't be sad sweetheart, come, we'll go on a walk, aren't you hungry? We can get dinner“ he quickly offered lifting her up and getting off the bed. He was grumpy and moody yes but he never wished that on her. So when she grabbed his hand with watery eyes he felt his heart breaking. Sometimes her light began to burn out, but he would always be their to keep it bright when she needed him to.
His arms circled her gently and held her to him
“I'm sorry“ he whispered and she hid her face in his shirt
“i love you“ she uttered as her hands clutched his sleeve
“i love you too, my little ray of sunshine“ he murmured with a kiss to her head
“what if i didn't shine anymore?“ she asked quietly and he squeezed her lightly
“then i would have to shine for the both of us“ he said pulling back to give her one of those uncommon smiles that instantly brought one to her face
“because your soul is golden“ she whispered and he practically beamed at her
“And if what you say is true then yours is made of the worlds most rarest diamond“ he told her watching her eyes lower to the ground as she blushed. His hand brought her face to his as he pressed his lips to her softly, she smiled into the kiss and her light burned brighter
“Can we still go out for dinner?” She asked and he let out a little laugh
“Of course we can, where would you like to go?” He hummed with his arms now around her waist swaying then both gently
“You pick this time, i chose to get ice cream the other day..i know you don’t really-“
“No love believe me it was the best ice cream i have every experienced, perhaps something just a little more romantic this time?”
“Will we be able to watch the sunset?” She questioned
“I’ll get us a window table” he promised still smiling

4. Can we just stop letting flo like creepy shit. Stop it! I love you now stop touching creepy crap. We've discussed this omg 😭
On that note the doubt i loved. The whole am i crazy thing. And the ROs not believing you is so on point! You slayed!

Wheee I'm so happy! Thank you so much
SO GLAD YOU LOVE THE CAMPERS. They're really important to the story and I love them but I'm terrified of accidentally writing them "wrong" or just plain unlikable. It means so much that you like them, foul-mouthed and messy and rude as they can be :D
HAHAHAHAHA WE DID WE SOOOO DID but I'm sorry the trope is right there it'd be illegal if I didn't use it
"Kneel..." Omg now you need to tell me which crushtype your MC was! I wanna know the exact scene you got hehe
No, sorry. He won't stop. And also, it'll take some time for him to believe the MC, but don't worry, he'll come around! And the others, too. Soon. But for the moment, Basil is the only one who believes MC without reservation.
Also very very happy you enjoyed the local grumpycat. That's really the best moniker for Sawyer, but don't worry, they have a heart ^^ somewhere in there.
The therapy session was like writing a scabbed wound, I was really hoping to make it feel like a hug... if that makes sense
Love love love that I got to scare you! So happy! And your lengthy ask means so much to me, thank you <3

I love your world building! Your name ideas are awesome. Love the idea of Indis being a true prophetic mother name
-@outofangband
Belated thank you! Also, sharing my thought process on that one because it's a very classic Silmarillion headcanon origin: it bothers me that Indis's name means "bride." I hate how it reduces her to a feminine trope - at "best", only here to have a troubled marriage; if you're a staunch Fëanorian, a femme fatale homewrecker. I immensely dislike how this is, in fact, an fairly accurate description of her role in the story...
Which is deliberate on Tolkien's part! The "canonically correct" way to ameliorate this misogyny (though neither erase nor excuse it) is to remember that this whole text is a mixture of history, legend and myth passed through multiple storytellers over thousands of years, translated and re-translated and interpreted through the eyes of elves and men and hobbits and men again, until even if this person ever actually existed in the history of Middle Earth - IF! - "Indis" probably wasn't even her epessë, much less her commonly used name. Probably her name got ink blotted on it at some point, or mixed up with someone else's name, and the next Númenorean scholar to rewrite the text followed the Archetypal School of historical interpretation and decided to name her "Indis" because of her role in the story...
But this, too, bothers me. Because I love the framing device of these various books, I love the historian-given dubious canonicity of literally every detail of The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and especially of The Silmarillion. But! We need some solid canon upon which to hang all our headcanons, so it's imperative to retain a delicate mental balance of knowing everything could be made up (more than it already is by being fiction!) while also adhering to as much as possible as something that Really Did Happen - and names are pretty solidly in the latter category. I mean, everyone has multiple and for those who don't, we tend to make more up, but a belief in the basic premise of the text is necessary in order to function in any fandom, and "names of characters" is pretty "basic premise."
So it's impossible to ignore that her name is Indis; and it's impossible to ignore that the name "Indis" is closely connected to her place in the narrative, more than most characters, and that said place is uncomfortably non-feminist - you can round out her character all you like, but you have to admit that her role in the story is to be the Second Wife and Mother whose acts of being a wife and mother cause trouble! That's a fact! And it's not great! And the name "Indis" isn't helping because if she was named anything but her literal narrative role, that would be characterization! She could be noble like Artanis, she could be of the sea like Eärwen, but she's not! She's just "bride"!
...so, I redeem this by making this definition of her life deliberate within the text - and not just by a future Númenorean scholar, but by Indis's mother. (Female! O! Cs!) Furthermore, names of prophecy are implicitly grand (even if they're not necessarily either good or bad). It makes being a bride itself feel more active - and why not! Do Indis's acts of love and marriage not change the fate of the world just as much as Lúthien's? Consider that Indis's act of marriage is so important that it echoes back through the Great Music to be known by her mother as she held the future bride as a babe in arms. Consider a mother holding her child under stars beside a lake and going, "damn, this kid is gonna have ripple effects. I should add a bragging warning label."
Also, if you accept the headcanons that
a) most Elvish languages treat "sex" (physical) and "marriage" (soul-bonding) as basically synonymous; and
b) Indis spends thousands of years in the Second/Third ages patiently and stubbornly figuring out how to Make It Work between herself, Finwë and Miriel, such that all three of them can marry with genuine all-around mutual love unto the end of days, for peace among the still-troubled Noldor but mostly for happiness for herself and those she loves most (also an act of bride-ship worthy of prophecy, note) -
then you can with a straight face imagine Indis saying, "I fucked my way into this mess and I'm going to fuck my way out of it."
Feminist critique + consideration of canonical historicity + elaborate headcanon web = sex joke! Now that's good fandom!

3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
"Keeley is a maternal figure for Jamie." my sibling in christ. what are you and your mama up to. those two FUCK and they LIKE IT. also Jamie already has a mummy. he never took her poster off his wank wall for fuck's sake she ain't a maternal figure for him (now she might be mommy buuuuut i ain't getting into alla THAT)
"Jamie and Georgie's interactions were borderline incestuous in Mom City." y'all can't talk about dismantling the patriarchy and toxic masculinity and turn around and call it "developmentally inappropriate" for a grown man to cuddle his mummy when he's upset and depressed. especially because i know, i KNOW y'all wouldn't have said that if Georgie was Dottie Lasso shaped. y'all didn't say that when Sam was cuddling with Ola. y'all said it because you turned that woman into a sexual object. unpack that shit
edited i forgot the cut lmao
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Jamie is a secretly self-loathing insecure mess. Did you watch the show? not once, not ONCE has Jamie demonstrated self-loathing or a lack of self-confidence. He had to learn how to not treat other people like shit, not how to hate himself.
Roy is a perfect uwu bean who has never been mean in his life ever ever. again. have you watched this show? in season one he was a whole 38 year old grown ass adult legend in his own time beefing with a fucking 23 year old whose best insult was calling him granddad. be for fucking real. and he didn't even try to captain that team until Ted jedi mind gamed him into it because he was wallowing in self-pity. i love him, but season one Roy was absolutely as unbearable as season one Jamie, the narrative just emotionally manipulated us about it differently. that's what makes him interesting. perfect soft uwu bean boy is BORING stop trying to convince me Roy is boring
Ted is depressed and suicidal and sacrificing his happiness in kansas. Shut the entire fuck up. That man was yelling about how homesick he was for kansas every chance he had for the entire run of the show. Also related is the "ted gave up his entire richmond family and support system to go back to kansas" hmm did he though? Realistically, did he really develop a close knit community and support system in richmond? other than the diamond dogs, whom he routinely ignored? all of his interactions with the wider richmond community (the pub, the shopkeepers, etc) were superficial. he never even learned to drive there. he never put down roots there and he didn't want to, because he wanted to go home to Henry, and he wanted to go home to KANSAS. don't even talk to me about the rebecca soulmates thing you can still be friends with people even if you don't live in the same country
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified that you actually kind of like…
Nate/Jade. look, my feelings about nate are complicated because they dropped the ball on showing instead of telling, which is bullshit because nick mohammed woulda ATE. i subscribe to the theory that they had a much more expansive storyline planned for Nate and rethought it after being surprised by how vitriolic and racist the hate was after season 2. unFORTUNATELY, that meant they didn't close the loop on what they already did, and tried to fill the gap with a girlfriend, which is a trope i loathe. on the other hand, Jade is fucking awesome and i can't help liking them and the way she affectionately trolls him mercilessly. i'm not even getting into the idiots on this hellsite trying to insist that Jade's behavior towards him was racist. she's a customer service employee who's seen a million insecure men trying to play games in her face and she treated him accordingly until he quit it with his nonsense, and then she gave him a chance because Nate is actually lovely when he's squashing his tendency to be a vicious cruel jerk

What are your top five xianxia cdramas? And, on the other end, what are your top five historical kdramas (any time period - I'm not well versed in this to know the various types names yet xD)? Oh, and lastly, your top five drama recs that are the most (generally) underrated? Thanks!
nice!
TOP FIVE XIANXIA (& I'M ALSO GONNA INCLUDE XUANHUAN)
love and redemption. girl meets boy. boy's part of a cursed theatre troupe and part of masochism tango of reincarnation with girl that lasts 10 life times. girl is actually kind of the god of war. crack, gender reversal, gender fuckery at large, feminist and queer friendly. incredible OST. just all-around one of my favorite dramas ever.
lost you forever (part 1). a xuanhuan vs. xianxia, but im not passionate enough about 5 xianxia for this list lol. another drama with gender fuckery. a fantastic FL and beautiful relationship building (and unbuilding) and character-driven story. dont even need the second part for this to be a favorite!!
love between fairy and devil. all those tropes you fucking loved when you were like 13 on ff.net given a lot of heart and near-perfect execution (aside from that ending). awesome characters, beautiful costumes and art direction. super addicting and bingeable
the legends. bai lu playing a powerhungry demoness and acquiring a dysfunctional harem in the process. xu kai looking like a sad blue-haired puppy. a monk that creates an entire demon because he has 1 boner. sismance. i had a lot of fun with this one and pointedly did not watch the last 5 or so eps lol
till the end of the moon. there's parts i genuinely hate and would not watch ever again. there's parts that are fucking incredible. sort of like the main couple, i have a love/hate relationship with this drama but when it hits it really hits
honorable mention: eternal love/10 miles of peach blossoms (xianxia fuckery at its finest weighed down somewhat by tedious side plots and one of the most infuriating 2nd FLs of all time)
TOP FIVE HISTORICAL KDRAMAS
gaksital/bridal mask. set in the 1930s. inverse character arcs between the hero and villain. dysfunctional romance amped up to the nth level. high stakes, high consequences, and a cast full of well-developed and written characters. bring tissues
empress ki. girl crushing and girl bossing her way through two kingdoms, one of the best FLs of all time. with her is a besotted baby enemy emperor and a Noble Good besotted powerless king as she goes from slave to smuggler to concubine to empress. chef's kiss
the princess' man. you want feral wrecks for your male leads? female leads ready to throw down in a parking lot? if you like lovers to enemy (?) lovers and star-crossed romances this one is a must
the king loves. this one's also on my underrated list. the first 4ish eps are a chore, but if you get past them you have the love triangle to end all love triangles, interesting palace politics with a fascinating "evil" empress, and im siwan getting to go a lil unhinged as a treat. it's the definition of an idol drama but gd did i love this and i binged the hell out of it no regrets
mr sunshine. le cinema!!! an interesting time in history (1870s-1880s) with a wide range of flawed but compelling characters centered around one of the most badass FLs of all time. winner of the #1 second lead syndrome contest for me with dong mae. only downfall to this one is i felt negative chemistry with the endgame ship but the show is good enough without it
honorable mention: chicago typewriter isnt on this list because it's only kind of half a historical drama BUT OMG WATCH IT. it's in my top 3 kdrama and while it has a slow build once it kicks off it fucking goes off
TOP FIVE UNDERRATED DRAMAS
the king loves as mentioned above. i think why it has a lower rating is the first handful of eps are kind of a snoozefest and there's a bit of an upset with the romance (which i was 900% for). but it's a fucking fun ride and full of awesome goryeo palace drama adventures
kairos. not underrated, since it has decent scores on reviewer sites, but underhyped? not enough people have seen this one and it's an incredible time-travel thriller that i found way more interesting than other popular dramas of its type like signal
cheese in the trap. the ending's a hot mess, but compared to how some 2020-onward dramas are ending it's poetry. a solid adaptation of a really great webtoon, awesome cinematography, and one of the few dramas ive seen that actually capture the campus/college life experience right
discovery of romance. the emotional cheating element causes a lot of folks to hate it/jump ship, but i love this one (and gd BOTH the fl and ml emotionally cheat ftr he's not innocent in this hot mess). jung yumi + eric mun are one of my favorite kdrama duos and they kill it, and kim seulgi plays an incredible second female lead
when a man falls in love. man people HATED this one but i think it's a blast when you're in the mood for mess + gangsters. if you're into watching fucked up romances with severe power imbalances and the dysfunction that follows, this one's for you. it's not perfect but definitely not deserving of its 6.8 MDL rating (gd!)

Grand Guignol
Wanted to write down my thoughts on this movie because it was AWESOME and I don't want to forget lol. Non-spoilery thoughts above the cut and spoilers below it.
First of all, the colouring of this film is gorgeous. Everything is in dull greys and navy blues and cream, except for the red, and the red is throughout. There's red roses, red lighting, red ties, red viscera, and so, so, so much blood. It makes for a really stunning watch, to see this heightened red spurt and colour the white clothing of the protagonists, and on their faces.
The cinematography is also a lot of fun. So many dirty shots, where the creepy decorations of this school sit in the foreground and the characters having a conversation are left blurred in the background. Quick, hard cuts, so it's not clear whether something was real or not.
And I love the tension being around what is real vs what is fake rather than jump scares. The way cinema and pranks and voyeurism is woven into this plot to make everything more confusing is so well done; it puts us in the same situation as the characters stuck in this school with no clear sense of what's happening or why.
Most of all this was just fun. It was a wild ride where gross, gory, discomforting, messy, and generally weird shit happened constantly lol and I really, really enjoyed the experience.
Cutting here because I couldn't help but spoil from here on out.
I also really love the subtext of the show re: queer as monstrous. There is a suggestion that at least two of these characters were sent to this school abandoned by their families in order to be sacrificed because they are gay, or queer in some sense. The other characters have stories about doing physical harm to those around them, but at the least for Kenta, it's implied that whatever is going on with him and dressing femme--i won't assume--is what got him sent here (this is early in the film so I'm not counting it as a spoiler).
I had to laugh at the excessive lube; Japan's lube game is always incredible. We never get a normal amount of lube in a Japanese BL, and I live for it.
Also really enjoyed the cannibalism subtext! Cannibalism is always such an interesting theme in horror because it's such a taboo. This felt very Rocky Horror-like with the constant viscera shots and the open questions on characters' faces about where it came from.
The message in this film was so fascinating. Normally we get the trope of 'you have to defeat yourself ' as a hero's journey to get past self-doubt in order to win. In this case, Itsuki tells us he was forced to participate in...it's not entirely clear, bullying and mutilation at the least. He seems traumatized by the experience, and it's not clear how much damage he did on his own. But by the end of the film, after the teacher gave him the gun and told him to defeat himself, he manages to move through whatever was holding him back, and he fully embraces doing violence to others. He kisses Teshio, when he was surprised by/recoils from the kiss from Kenta. He laughs, glories in, is freed by the way he mutilated Teshio's corpse, and flashes back to his memory of when he was "forced" to hurt his classmate in his old school, but this time he's similarly elated. He had some initial reaction to seeing Kenta in a dress and wig--Shinji wondered if he wanted to wear it himself--and after the cult dresses him in heels, a dress, and wig, he does not remove them even after he's free and limping in the heels to drag along that sledgehammer. In this case, the hero's journey is one to freedom from moral constraints, allowing in the monstrous--both murderous and queer--parts of Itsuki to overcome any fear or self-hate or physical limitations, and to be victorious. And then we get the final scene, with the uncertainty as to whether the entire film has been a play, whether the play is in Itsuki's mind, or whether it's a metaphor for the audience to represent what happens. I think the uncertainty is the point. The entire film has been messing with our ability to tell what's real and what's fake, and maybe in the end it doesn't matter. Itsuki is dead; whether metaphorically because he's mentally snapped, or literally because he's killed himself, or because the whole thing was a metaphor and he's embraced his weirdness and joined this weird club and found acceptance in this group that puts on horror plays...the Itsuki who was traumatized and terrified of himself is gone by the end of the film, he's defeated the enemy within. I loved that.
Tumblr media
And there's something in this film about how it gets us to be interested in this weird friend group before it starts killing them off for the sake of... entertainment, a ritual, to free their parents of the embarrassment, it's not entirely clear which. But there's something implicit in the morality here that these characters are humanized before they're demonized, and that we are set up to see the ritual as cruel and the level of violence as undeserved. This part reminded me of Gang of Cherry; these kids are fucked up, and cruel, and weird, but don't deserve the even more fucked up and cruel situation they're in, which in turn makes them even more fucked up and cruel, until it's a twisted version of enlightenment, when all you are is cruel and fucked up, and delighting in the purity of the emotion.
Tumblr media
Anyway that's way too much navel-gazing for what is essentially 1.5 hours of intentionally bad blood-spraying camp and actors who didn't kiss in their BLs kissing in this. Big fan.
If you want realism, sexiness (there is a sex scene but it is not what I would call sexy; it's intentionally discomforting/edged with tension), romance, or a happy ending in the traditional sense this is not for you. If you like campy horror, strategic cinematography, gratuitous gore, gratuitous tongues, being discomforted, psychological horror, and metaphors on metaphors, I think you'll enjoy.

Oooo, you play mass effect, it finally clicked in my head. Who do you romance in Andromeda?
Also, I really did enjoy the game regardless of the amount of hate it got
ZOMG, you must've missed me at my most Andromeda obsessed, lol! I haven't actually been able to play it since last November, when my previous computer gave out and then this one has been super lousy. However, as soon as I can hopefully get my Vegas back on and thus be able to GIF (and vid) again, I'm planning on going back to Andromeda to finally finish the big Ryder twins romance GIF project I had going, lol!
In short, I've romanced every single option available except Scott/Peebee and Scott/Jaal. Scott/Peebee was in progress when I got derailed. But here are some posts I've made about various things, if you'd like to see them!
Sara's romances with Jaal, Reyes, Peebee and Vetra
Scott/Cora and the shocking, unexpected Scott/Harry romance 😂😜
I was working on the Scott/Gil vid here
I've vidded Sara/Reyes, Scott/Cora, Scott/Gil and my final vid ever was about Scott and his dad, Alec
Mass Effect: Andromeda incorrect quotes
Me at the bottom talking about doing an Insanity run and showing my Sara in her Mjolnir-like tanky armor plus the name of my crafted weapons 😂
I absolutely adore this game and I've honestly missed playing it so much! Also, did you know that Kate Kennedy aka Kai from Halo is the voice of one of the Angara?
Tumblr media
I romanced Avela as Scott JUST for that fact alone, lol!
Anyway, like I said, I never did get the chance to finish making GIFs for all of my romances and I still hope to finish those last two for Scott. As for which are my favs...
Sara: Reyes. I'm a sucker for that scoundrel, what can I say? 😍😇 But Vetra is a close second. I have to physically restrain myself from flirting with her if I'm planning on romancing somebody else because there's no way I'd hurt my best Turian girl like that! 😱😉
Scott: Gil surprisingly became my favorite "I have to make SURE not to click the flirt options if I'm romancing somebody else" romance. I also, no surprise, loved his romance with Reyes. Cora also was great!
I honestly really enjoyed all of the romance options, except for Keri's (the reporter) and not for any fault of hers but I disliked how she looks kinda uncomfortable with either Ryder flirting with her while she's just trying to do her job. I felt like a real creep, I have to say! 😩Then at the end, after I've annoyed this poor Asari at her workplace this entire time, the "payoff" was we went from a table at the Vortex to Ryder's just suddenly outside of her room? Not even a kiss? 🫤(I legit have headcanoned that Keri never actually let Ryder into her room, just went in herself, closed the door, and left them out in the hall, lol! "That's for continuing to come on to me and never taking the hint while I'm clearly just doing my job, you creep!" 😖😂😉)
If I could've romanced Evfra *points up at his pic above* I totally would have because I'm a sucker for a good "enemies to lovers" trope, lol! And I think Evfra would haaaaate himself for falling for the human Pathfinder. 😍😍😍
I clearly have put a lot of silly thoughts into Andromeda, lol! Anyway, thanks so much for letting me ramble about this! Who did you romance? Have you played as both twins or do you prefer just the one? Default or custom? Do you mod? My computer was coming off the rails at the time so I've only stuck to what's available in-game but I've seen some beautiful Ryder twins and some awesome clothing options with mods. 😉💖💖💖

ruminations on fanfiction
I have been all happy today because of all the requests I got, so I'm thinking about all the reasons I love fanfic, and all the happiness it brings to my life, yada yada yada.
So, I majored in English, and for the first half or so of my undergrad, I planned to go into the publishing field. (This will be relevant, I promise.) I wrote things that I submitted places and tried to get published. Some of them were accepted and some of them were rejected. I took editing classes and volunteered as an editor for my school's literary journal.
And I didn't like it.
I realized after a little bit that the more "advanced" I got into that field and that world, the more I disliked it. It wasn't what I was best at, either. I never really got the hang of making good editing decisions (as in, deciding whether to accept or reject a submission). Trying to cater my own writing towards what publishers wanted was also less than enjoyable.
I love, love writing, so it's not that I regretted my major or lost the passion or anything. But I like writing the most when it's not going to be evaluated. Either when that's my own writing being evaluated by a publisher, or me as the editor evaluating someone else's work. Those are important jobs that I don't want to dismiss as inherently immoral or something like that-- if you're an editor, that's awesome. But it just wasn't for me. I always liked people's pieces too much or not enough, depending on whether it spoke to me, personally. It was too hard to be objective. I didn't really like trying to be objective.
So I don't write stuff to send to publishers anymore. For one thing, I'm in grad school now in a different field, and for another, I just really don't enjoy myself as much when I'm writing a piece that makes my brain go into that mode of "this has to be good" in a literary sense of the word good. At some point in my life I might like to go back to that kind of writing. But for right now, it's just not enjoyable, and since writing is a hobby for me, I don't make myself try to sit down and write something that I'm not excited about.
But I write loads and loads of fanfiction because fanfiction is so freeing. It's the epitome of self-indulgence. It's like this giant playground where I can write about vulnerable concepts like sexual desire and body image and aging and relationships. I mean, personally, I don't see myself writing sex scenes in anything except fanfiction, especially ones so detailed and intended for enjoyment.
But it's really like you're writing in this separate little safe bubble where you can do anything you want. The only feedback you receive is positive (I mean, just personally, I've never received a hate comment, so I can say that.) You can write works that are as short or as long as you want. You can post every day or once a month. You can always write the exact same trope, or you can do something totally new every time. And whatever you write, there will probably be an audience for it.
It's writing just purely for the sake of enjoyment. You're not trying to be good. You're not trying to pen a masterpiece. You're not submitting it for approval-- instead, you're posting it to be enjoyed freely, with zero barrier to entry. And that's what prevents me from losing motivation. I don't get tired of it, because it's always fun, and if anything about it isn't fun, I just don't do that.
I am so glad I've found some people in one of the corners of the internet who read my fics <3 it's such a fun hobby and distraction and escape and therapy substitute. Thank you for feeding my hyperfixation/special interest/obsession.

Ask game questions! 5, 7, 8, and 23 for spamton bc I'm legally obligated to ask about him. You don't have to do all of them tho if you don't want!
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
I'm Gonna Win - Rob Cantor
First song I thought of, though I'm sure there are other more suitable songs I could come up with. But honestly, due to my illness I don't get to listen to music often. I'm sensitive to sound.
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
There's been some really nice fanart, and I love the fake ad ones people make, and the pinups. I love buying merch from people.
Its also nice when people treat their plushes nicely, or actually see him as more than just the "funny salesman." Don't get me wrong, Spamton's is an awesome a salesman and all, but that's not all he is.
Oh, my fave part though, is how everyone celebrates his fan birthday. Thats super sweet. I love seeing people make fanart for that.
23. Favorite picture of this character?
Hm.. there's lot of great fanart of him, and you can see what I post already.
But I guess his shop sprite. It's fun to talk to him.
I do wonder what he would be like in person though.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Haha... heh.... well, this will get long... (Sorry.)
Mostly just the fact that the fandom is made up of a LOT of hateful people, who hatepost about Spamton because he's "popular," or because their fans of Swatch/Queen/Addisons and are in denial about what those guys did to him so they try to pin it on Spamton by saying "he deserved it" or saying it never happened.
Which is REALLY ironic in a way. But wait, we got more!
(_WARNING: RANT INCOMING!_ You dont have to read this.)
Many people can't get past the "funny salesman" trope. They think the salesman pitch Spamton puts on is literally all he is, that he really is this guy who is silly, obsessed with money, and batshit crazy. Does no one know how entertainment works!? Has no one ever followed a YouTuber or Twitch streamer, or gone to the circus or seen a live show? That how people act in front of a camera, isnt how they act all the time!? Spamton doesn't actually care about money, he said it himself; he does all he does because he's an entertainer trying to survive! The Spamton Sweepstakes, the Fangamer ads, the Twitter replies... while they contain truths and genuine things about him, for much of it, he's playing everyone like fiddles! He's saying whatever the hell he can to make you buy his shit, because funny thing, its his job! And the things is, it WORKS. Everyone totally buys in to it! But while I'm sure he does find joy in what he does, it can also be kind of painful that everyone actually thinks that's all he is in a way... they infantilize him, they treat him like he's crazy/stupid, they stereotype him, they make fun of him, they talk about wanting to hurt him... and they think its okay, because "he's in on the joke." Yeah? You really think anyone would find joy in seeing you make art of them getting abused/hurt/killed? REALLY? Ever thought that maybe... its not actually okay....
I guess I feel bothered by it. Sure Spamton chooses to play up all the stereotypes about him so that people will buy his stuff, and its cool that he can still joke about things like that. But... I wish people saw more of the real him sometimes, and realized he deserves kindness and respect like anyone else.
But I think Spamton is a good example of how people go too far, how they'll greedily take everything from someone, even their dignity, if it means feeding their own happiness. How they can't separate entertainment from reality (... yeah yeah, some irony there as I'm talking about a fictional character...)
In a way, the Spamton fandom, often represents to me, much of the things I hate about the entertainment industry, hell even fandom. I'm glad people love him and buy his stuff, but I also wish they liked him for kinder reasons. I hope that if he continues to be in entertainment, he gets to make something he loves, that allows him to be who he wants to be. Because like many of us, he sometimes gets trapped in a role, determined by other people. And while some of it is true, like he is funny and has a dark sense of humor, and I'm sure he does enjoy many of the things he does... but some of it, I think is sort of forced on him. It's like if you don't act the way everyone wants, they'll get angry or abandon you. And that, thats awful.
(And Im not saying don't enjoy his salesman persona, just that, I wish people saw the rest of him too. Because he's a kind, caring and brave guy, and I really wish him the best ya know?)
.... of course, I admit this might be some of my own self-projection too, but lets not unpack THAT.
...
......
You made it this far, wow... uh... *gives you a gold star saying "I just wasted several minutes of my life to an insane fan rant." except all the words don't fit on the star, so it just says "I just wasted."*
... *runs away while you ponder the star*

I love AOS Star Trek and therefore I hate AOS Star Trek. The destruction of a whole ass planet as a plot device is my least favorite trope. Thank you for giving us good dad Sarek and some respect for Spock's Vulcan identity, now can we see more of that please? The loss of Vulcan wasn't enough rage fuel for Spock, we had to fridge Amanda too? Why didn't all the surviving Vulcans immediately collapse from the psychic damage? Feeling a few hundred Vulcans die from far away was enough to have Spock in pain in TOS, how are they even functional? Benedict wasn't a bad villain but why oh why is he Khan. The tie-in comics make it worse don't @ me. Can we see the CATASTROPHIC repercussions the destruction of Vulcan obviously has had on the Federation? They were founding members! You're telling me it didn't spark a gigantic war against Romulus? Can we stop equating Starfleet with the Federation? Why is Admiral Marcus trying to have a war against the Klingons like they're the threat when by all accounts EVERYBODY should still be crapping their pants about the Romulans? What is Spock Prime doing about that, considering he's the one who was building bridges with them in his own reality? Why is it implied that there's only those 10 000 Vulcan survivors left around when by all account there should be millions of them (everybody who was off planet at the time + the Vulcans who didn't live on the planet). Could we see New Vulcan? Spock Prime's vow of not altering things is the biggest plot contrivance bs ever - he already gave them transwarp beaming and the timeline was already irreparably fricked up before he showed up. Why not warn them about say, Sybok, the Borg, all the weird galactic threats, or needing to go get some whales from the past? That might come up! Khan's blood can RESURRECT PEOPLE. Spock/Uhura is objectively delightful, now can we stop with the snogging and have some proper Vulcan finger kisses? Hey, how about we see like one Andorian and one Tellarite instead of random alien designs thrown into a blender and splaterred on background characters? Why do Klingons and Qo'noS look like That. There are approximately 194 different methods of time travel in Star Trek with wildly inconsistent consequences - sometimes it creates a new timeline, and sometimes it's a loop and sometimes it rewrites your own reality. Are you telling me trying ANY ONE OF THEM to save Vulcan wasn't an option? The slingshot one lets you rewind your own timeline without branching out! DO THAT! ANYTHING! OVER SIX BILLION PEOPLE DIED!
Anyway it's so sweet that Spock gave Nyota his mom's necklace and also can you believe how cool his fight with Khan is? Spock Prime is awesome, I love him so much. Still can't believe a third of Beyond was a whump fanfic/buddy comedy with Spock and McCoy!

1. chuuya plushie looks awesome, 2. don’t feel bad about going through a writer’s block, 3. tell me more about your story ideas 👀 are dazai and chuuya working together or fighting for reader? and what kind of relationship does chuuya have with reader in your other fic? i personally love bf chuuya stuff but lately i’m in a mood for him to pine and yearn
1. Thank you, I’m planning on making a Dazai one when the rest of my yarn gets shipped in.
2. I only feel bad because I feel like I have to provide for y’all cause you’re my bookies 🥺
3. I currently have my Chuuya/Reader/Dazai fic on AO3 called “Lament Of A Bleeding Heart” and the relationship between the MC and Dazai + Chuuya is the slightly more common trope (that I see for Dazai and Chuuya x Reader fics) that MC was working alongside them when they were Double Black. But, I wanted to add some spice so I added a side relationship (platonic) between MC and Atsushi and made MC an older sibling figure to Atsushi because I’m projecting 😭 I switch between the past and present for each chapter and it kind of aligns and intertwines to reave more about the depth of MC’s relationships with other characters as well as the on going issue of an organization called Rubrum Mortem (The Red Death) attempting to over take other mafia gangs :) So if you guys are interested in that, you can find it on AO3 [My user is SuperPeachyNova].
I also have a Chuuya/Reader fic that I’m reworking and planning out since I didn’t like the OG (I forgot to give MC a backstory because I was so focused on the plot which means the MC had no personality or chemistry with Chuuya, that was def my my mistake and I fixed it lol). This plot is wayyyy longer to explain because I’m basing it off not only religion— but I mixed evolution into it because I like oxymorons and creating an organization that mixed religion and evolution was interesting to me.
To start off, MC and Chuuya met while Chuuya was in the Sheep and they were young. MC has a somewhat normal life aside from their parents projecting themselves onto the MC because they never were successful, so they try and make MC their child trophy basically (wanting them to have a high paying and scholarly jobs like a doctor, lawyer, etc.), but because of meeting Chuuya and some other events that happen, they wind up becoming a detective instead because he made them want to help people. Chuuya and MC parted ways after Chuuya joined the mafia because he didn’t want to involve MC, and years later they meet when the ADA and the Port Mafia have to work together to take down The Damnation which is a religious/evolutionary based organization that was working behind the scenes with The Guild. Since The Guild fell apart, they’re stepping up and kidnapping ability users as well as targeting the ADA and Port Mafia members to use for experiments. Chuuya and MC meet again and forbidden romance ensues, teehee.
These fics are both slow burns, by the way. Sorry to those who hate slow burns, but I’m an absolute sucker for the build up and tension 🥳
Thanks for letting me ramble, I love talking about my ideas for fics, but I never know how to write them because I want to make it as interesting and exciting as possible for you guys because I love getting comments about people theorizing about my fics 😭❤️

9 people you would like to get to know better
tagged by @hxhhasmysoul thank you!
3 ships:
KilluGon (HxH) -
It's The Ship of All TIme, they fit together like puzzle pieces... copedence central (affectionate) as munen said.
EndHawks (BNHA) -
Actually my instinct after watching BNHA was to ship EndHawks, bc they ARE the bratty western-inspired blonde younger guy x button-downed repressed trad japanese dark-haired older guy trope from BL manga + their issues are tailor made for each other, they fit together like puzzle pieces (derrogatory). I think this could be one of those ships where it looks extremely messed up from the outside - and it IS messed up - but it works for the people involved. BUT most people don't write it correctly, for instance in my ideal Endhawks fic the rest of the todoroki family would HATE the relationship because they would think (correctly) that Endeavor is evading taking responsibility for being a terrible father by choosing to be in a relationship with someone who has a terrible father kink. And most people either don't write Hawks as messed up enough or they write him as messed up in a generic gay slut way, and not his specific variety of messed up.
BakuDeku (BNHA) -
So because the Endhawks fic is mostly not what I'm looking for, I just kinda gravitated to BakuDeku which has tons of awesome fic, plus I'm just not as choosy about the characterization and accept all kinds of AUs that have barely any connection to canon. Haha. (I like the genderswap fic for them actually). BakuDeku is fun because they're shounen rivals who aren't purely rivals, even from the beginning of the manga Bakugou is a lot more involved than the rival character usually is (knows Deku's secret & helps with the training plan etc). It fixes a lot of the things that generally annoy me about rival plots in shounen manga... I also like the growth narrative for Bakugou and Deku's versatility as a POV character.
I'm not currently shipping anything else... maybe Cloud/Tifa/Aeris, in any combination of two or three, was the last thing I shipped but didn't really talk about on tumblr. Oh! And the main characters from the Kdrama It's Okay to Not Be Okay, Ko Moon-Young and Moon Gang-tae.
First ship: Ranma/Akane from Ranma 1/2!!! Classic ship, probably the first really big juggernaut anime ship on the internet. It's all about the genderbending with this one... I used to really like the fanfiction where they're together because Akane is a attracted to women and Ranma is sometimes a woman.
Last Song: Me and RJ are doing a version of Death Cab for Cutie's I'll Follow You Into the the Dark to sing the baby to sleep at night, so probably that? I made up a new harmony for it that I'm kinda proud of. One of these days we'll record it and I'll put it up here.
Last Movie: It was the Barbie movie, yeah. (No I haven't seen Oppenheimer.)
Currently Reading: "A Secret Princess" by Margarat Stohl and Melissa de la Cruz. It's like a fanfic mashup of The Secret Garden, which I've never read, and A Little Princess, which I've read a bunch of times and love, with a mysterious new original character added to the mix. A fanfic remix of a book I've already read is about the level of literature I can handle at the moment.
Currently Consuming Watching: I'm into this house renovation show on Roku called Old House New Home, because it's set in England and they actually talk about the history of the area and why the houses were built the way they were... there's a lot of historically listed beautiful homes... and not every renovation looks exactly the same following the exact same trends, although a lot of them are similar (combine the kitchen and dining room, raise the ceiling, add windows and glass doors and skylights - all things that look beautiful and increase the feeling of light and space, but make the house less energy efficient).
Me and RJ are also watching The Marvelous Ms. Maisel - the heavy(ish) show - and the One Piece live action - the lighter(ish) show - when we have time. Recommend both of those.
Currently Craving: Sleep
Tag 9 people (if you feel like it :D): @fury-brand @rosemochi @nautilusopus @tofucasserole @spectroscopes @fireolin @storybookprincess @autumnxsunflower @recents @applepi00

After seeing that (second) Yu post, I gotta wonder: does your issue with changelings stem from the fact most people like to run them as 'gotcha' characters (and so would be fine with one who avoid such pitfalls), or do you just not vibe with them on a personal level?
Both - and, to be clear, my dislike of specific character build choices is basically always a thing that can be negated by how the character is played (eg: I love Loquatius Seelie, who is a changeling without that gotcha trope; I can name no shortage of rogue or tiefling characters I enjoy despite being negative to "meh" on both those things).
I just find the gotcha thing so fucking boring, and it's such a popular path for changelings that's a huge part of it...but I think the other best way to put is like...look. I think that what probably happened is during the big initial 5e boom when tons of new players were coming in, there were some shitty old guard bro players who were like "how DARE you come in here with your woman characters and your queer characters asking us to acknowledge that perhaps it's possible for a black person to play a black high elf and playing bards and druids who aren't just here to make my min-maxed human fighter/rogue look AWESOME." And obviously that fucking sucks. But now we see the backlash case, where someone who has played a series of interchangeable trauma-dumping chaotic neutral tiefling charisma casters in combat-avoidant games will go "ew I hate this actual player who consistently makes thoughtful choices and is collaborative and generous as a player but tends to make strait-laced dwarf paladins or whatnot, they're so boring."
Like...I think the best way to put it is that changeling often screams style over substance, and I really don't enjoy that. As indicated with Loquatius, I'm happy to be proven wrong by interesting changeling characters [NOTE: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INTERPRET THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CHANGELING CHARACTER; IT IS NOT, I DO NOT CARE, THIS IS ABOUT GAMES I PLAY IN AND ACTUAL PLAY I FOLLOW] but yeah, I tend to come in with a sense of skepticism.

Fandom as a cocktail bar: a somewhat overwrought metaphor
I've had a realization about being a multi shipper
I treat fandom like a bar, and I personally love trying new drinks.
This metaphor is about to get really extended so bear with me lol.
I usually go for beer - not a cheap mass produced one, I like a craft beer. One that was made with some creativity, with good quality ingredients. I'll take a beer when I go out, or when I'm home and unwinding after a long day. I love sampling beers anytime I go somewhere new. (Read a new fic author)
(In this metaphor zelink is beer. I even make my own beer! And zelink is the only fanfic I've ever seriously written)
I also love gin! Gin (another ship -let's say Revalink, or Sidlink) is delicious and I love drinks with gin. I don't drink it every day or even every week but when I see it on the menu at the bar, I'll definitely order a gin cocktail. Especially if it's a bar (author) I've read before and I like what they do.
Rum (another ship - eg zelgan) maybe isn't my favorite, but there's a few specific cocktails made with rum that I really like. I don't like rum and coke (ship in xyz situation, trope) but I love a mojito (same ship written in a different dynamic - tale of two rulers, you continue to have me in a chokehold)
There's lots of other drinks that I'm curious about but haven't tried very much. Schnapps? Jaeger? Tequila? Absinthe? All very different things I'm curious to try more of. Also if my friend home brews something I'm gonna try it to be supportive and give them feedback.
There's also so many great non alcoholic cocktails that are super creative and tasty. And yanno, sometimes I've got a lot of work to do or I need to focus and I don't wanna drink alcohol (get super sucked into/emotionally wrecked by a story) but I still want something delicious and complex that isn't gonna mess me up, and also that I can serve to kids!
Now me personally, I absolutely LOATHE super salty or savoury drinks. Olive martinis? Bloody Marys? Eugh no thank you. But boy HOWDY some folks LOVE those drinks and yanno what? Even if I think Bloody Mary's are gross as hell I still want the bar to serve a bloody Mary to those who want one. Especially if the bartender loves making them and is really good at them. That's awesome!
Some people are much more picky about their drinks. Some people will not (or cannot, for several valid reasons) drink Jaeger. Or sherry. Some people might HATE anything with gin and think I'm crazy for liking gin so much, but, hey, to each their own. Some people really don't like beer and don't understand why everyone's so obsessed with it and why it's freaking everywhere. 😝
There are lots of delicious and creative drinks to suit everyone's tastes, young and old, sweet tooth and spice fiends alike. Let's indulge a little, shall we?

Hear me out:
My favorite Stranger Things trope is Found Family. Like yeah sure everything else is awesome but found family hits different. Especially to someone with a somewhat dysfunctional family.
My favorite found families, however, are any that include Mike and Steve. (Especially one or the other with Hopper adopting them.)
So hear me out: I combine them.
No not literally. Just the tropes. Give me Mike and Steve finding a family in each other.
Like— yeah, sure. Mike has the Party, and his actual family (or— at least— he has Nancy (somewhat)) and Steve has Robin and Dustin but— it’s not the same. They love them, don’t get them wrong, but they don’t always understand.
Maybe Dustin does a bit. His moms not always there and his dads dead but— Claudia tries. And that’s the difference between Dustin and Mike/Steve.
But everyone else? They don’t have a full grasp on how hurtful parental neglect can actually be. They don’t realize how much of a toll it can take on a child’s mental health and self-worth.
Mike and Steve do know. They’ve experienced it firsthand, in fact.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out Ted Wheeler cared very little about Mike (or any of his kids, really). Mike’s convinced that Ted doesn’t even know his birthday or middle name (April 7 and Quincy (Karen thought it was cute at the time)).
And as much as Mike loves his mother, Karen Wheeler isn’t much of an exception. She gets a pass because of Holly, but that’s just about it. She’s not really there for Mike other than when she deems she needs to be.
We don’t even know anything about Steve’s parents outside of the fact that they’re literally never home. Like— 4 seasons and not once do we meet Mr. and Mrs. Harrington? They’re either dead or Steve lives on his own.
Now give me emotionally-constipated Mike slowly leaning on Steve for help. Because Steve worked things out, right? Steve managed to get his emotions and attitude under control, and maybe he could help Mike.
That’s really all I want. Mike and Steve being each others support systems because they get each other. They understand the neglect and emotional-constipation and the inability to express your feelings because when you do try they’re pushed aside and forgotten about. They understand each other in the sense that they’d do ANYTHING to protect those they care about. In the sense that they’re traumatized kids with no authority figure to help them through it.
Now give me Joyce Byers and (begrudgingly) Jim Hopper. Both of who recognize this and try to subtly step in.
Joyce is immediate with it. She’s practically raised Mike and she’ll finish the goddamn job if she has to. She’ll take Steve to, don’t fucking test her.
And then Hopper who “hates” them both because of Mike and El and how Steve used to act. But he recognizes the blatant neglect in their lives and while sure— it may or may not be a little too late to make up their childhoods, it isn’t too late for them to know that someone cares. That Hopper cares, no matter how horrible he is at showing it.
Maybe throw Max into the mix as well.
Max understanding Mike and Steve on another level. She understands the neglect and shattered hope that they carry with them. Recognizes that hateful flash in Steve’s eyes when anyone brings up his parents. Billy used to get the same flash when someone mentioned Neil. Recognizes the way Mike seems to close in on himself when people ask him about himself. She does the same thing because she doesn’t know how else to react. Recognizes the refusal to talk about their own emotions—subtly changing topics to keep it out of conversation. Because she does the exact. Same. Thing.
And you know what? Give me Steve, Max and Mike spending a summer together. Give me the three of them leaning on each other for support and advice. Max and Mike looking to Steve for how to open up. Steve looking after the 2 of them and the 2 of them looking out for Steve.
I’m dubbing them the No Parents Trio.
Over and Out.
