I re-read Good Omens via audiobook and I just collected my favorite details

"Crowley rather liked people" is a quote I still love so much. Even though he is a demon with the job of making people upset each other, he likes humans. The contrast between what they make him do and how he experiences Earth.

That scene with the ducks where Crowley almost drowns a duck and Aziraphale is like "I say, my dear" and Crowley is like "Oh yes I forgot myself" and allows the duck to return to the surface. Crowley is usually very polite about the most unhinged things which I just find endearing

All the times Aziraphale calls Crowley "dear boy"

The fact Aziraphale has "exquisitely manicured" hands lmao. I like to think he does go to the manicurist, same as he has a proper barber in the show

Aziraphale blushes sometimes and often gives mean looks to customers to push them out of shop

I like the on-going theme in the Good Omens universe of wanting to build a better world for loved ones, but how that drive, when taken to an extreme, is self destructive. Adam says he'll make the earth good for the Them, and will make sure the Them will be protected and happy in it. But the Them don't want it, they understand Adam is acting out and is not thinking things through. There is no point in trying to possess something and bend it to will forcefully. It wouldn't be good. It wouldn't be of free will. It would make them just another of his whims and no one, either the Them or Adam, actually want that

Aziraphale thinks Crowley is a creature of God when you "get right down to it", which is a thought both meaner and kinder than he realizes

Crowley is described to have "a voice so laid-back you could lay a carpet on it"and it's my most favorite thing ever lmaooo

"You're seducing women here!" /"I think perhaps you got the wrong shop" is always a brilliant line

Even though everything in the Bently turns into Queen's Greatest Hits, I love that Crowley actually loves music, and keeps his collection of records highly organized

Also love the fact that Crowley keeps his apartment orderly, though that's probably in big part because he doesn't really live there

I do appreciate that Crowley sleeps because he wants to, not because he needs to. Truly a relatable guy.

There's a big HOLY SHIT moment in the audiobook - the speech the American evangelist gives about the apocalypse. It's fucking incredible. The actor is amazing, delivering fire and brimstone and absolute hatred and certainty until Aziraphale pops inside of him.

Death really is Azrael, literally the angel of death

Aziraphale comes up with the solution at the end but ONLY because of Crowley, who challenged Aziraphale about the difference between the great plan and ineffable plan at the very beginning of the book

There are many moments where both Crowley and Aziraphale are thought to be a gay couple, but it really made me laugh that they are at the end of the world, telling each other it's been a pleasure to know each other all this time, and then Shadwell interrupts to call them "Nancy Boys"

Everyone in the Good Omens fandom is right, I do love that in the book, the wings of demons and angels are the same color

Crowley thinks the biggest battle will be heaven and hell vs humanity. This has got me thinking a lot. I figure this is because at some point humanity will rebel against any divine intervention, once we figure out that heaven and hell have been playing dice with us. But we'll see.

It does warm my heart that the story begins and ends with a garden and with the eating of the apple - Adam doesn't know why the old man hates people touching his apples so much, but the world would be a lot less interesting if he didn't. It's a fitting end for a fitting beginning.

"Did you listen to that song I sent you?" You ask, turning to Tommy next to you.

He shyly and slowly shakes his head no.

"Bro, why not?"

"I forgot! I forgot, I swear" He half-laughs, raising his hands in defense before the play fighting and shouting began. "I meant to listen to it when you sent it to me but I was eating with Molly and fell asleep watching a movie"

Ranboo raises an eyebrow, "What song?"

"Yeah! by Ludacris"

"Oh my God I love that song!" Ranboo and Freddie exclaim in unison, sending the three of you into fits of laughter.

Tubbo is silent as he sits in front of his setup, just watching you talk for a moment. He then speaks up, confused.

"Tommy, have you never listened to Yeah?"

"No, I don't think so" The blonde answers with a shrug. "Y/n was talking about how it's an American classic or something"

"You sound so stupid right now" Ranboo chuckles.

Within the span of the next minute or so, it turned into you, Ranboo, and Freddie singing a portion of the song since Tubbo couldn't play it on stream, the two T's just watching and listening. This was quite usual, just, odd, but it made sense because the three of you were all running off of adrenaline and coffee at this point. The sun had set long ago, it was about midnight, and you were all having a sleepover anyways, so why not make the stream fun before you all passed out?

"Up in the club with my homies, trying to get a lil V-I, keep it down on the lowkey" Ranboo, starts, pulling you into the song halfway through the line as the others begin to smile and laugh.

"You should know how it feels" You look to the Webcam with the weird TikTok fuckboy look, a sideways L made from your pointer finger and thumb under your chin.

Freddie joins in by the next line, on your left, slinging an arm around your shoulders, which starts a slight school-play-remix of the song.

"I seen shorty, she was checking on me, from the game she was spitting in my ear, you would think that she know me" Freddie runs a hand through his hair to fix it up a bit.

The three of you turn it into a full-blown trio song, singing together as Tubbo and Tommy laugh and smile, with the chat spamming the lyrics along.

"I decided to chill, conversation got heavy, she had me feeling like she was ready to blow!" Ranboo giggles, trying to maintain their composure. "She's saying come get me, so I got up and followed her to the floor. She said baby let's go!"

The loudest point of the song now came, with Tubbo moving towards the side so you could be in full focus of the camera while Tommy records you three to the side, wanting to show Molly.

"When I told her, I said yeah! Shorty got down low, said 'come and get me!"

The three of you begin dancing in your seats as you sing along, hiding laughter, which was evident in the way you sang-shouted. You go through the whole song, including a tap-dancing bit from Ranboo, which you didn't understand whatsoever. But, as time passes, the five of you begin to delve into the deep abyss of 5 Minute Crafts and Troom Troom on stream, creating a whole section of commentary together.

"This has to be fetish content." You comment, watching in creeped-out-awe as the video is just about people sitting on and squishing things.

"I can't see how it isn't" Ranboo shrugs, "Who is watching this?"

"Probably like, middle aged moms, you'd think" Tubbo replies, "Or like, brainrotted YouTube Kids children"

"Probably the latter"

The group votes on no more Troom Troom, feeling genuinely weirded out by some of the stuff on their page. You get Tubbo to pull up 5 Minute Crafts, a much better option.

"I hope that slide caves in" Tommy comments, seeing a thumbnail or a slide being made out of cardboard boxes.

"Me too, brother" You smile, "I mean how would it not? That child looks like they're maybe 80 pounds, this is a safety violation"

"Oh my God" Tubbo speaks, resting his head in his hands.

Freddie is the first to laugh, doubling over in his chair as Tubbo clicks on the video with the cursed thumbnail. "Did you see that?"

"Y/n was right, this has to be fetish content"

"What fetish includes eating off of toilet seats!?" Tommy loudly questions, seeing you stare into space out of shock and concern.

"That's probably the worst idea to solve that problem too, like, it'll still roll off and it hurts to have a whole toilet seat around your neck, ceramic or not" Ranboo chuckles, repositioning to sit criss-cross in their chair.

"Oh my God" You cringe, "Why are we putting pounds of garlic into a stick of butter??"

"I bet you that texture is so rank when you taste it..." Tommy cringes as well, seeing the oil being frozen after baking for reusable purposes. "It looks chunky!"

Freddie fake gags, crying about how he wanted to go home.

"Okay, no more!" Tubbo chuckles, clicking away to the YouTube home page. "Enough of that, I feel myself losing braincells"

Tommy shouts, hands to his mouth to create more sound. "Troom Troom for president 2024!"

"And I thought what we had was already awful"

A Special Announcement~ | Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Tag Force Special Re-Translation Project!

I've been itching to get around to posting about this for a few months now, but wanted to wait until I'd worked on enough for it, but also had the idea to create an announcement trailer to go with it for added good measure--after recording and editing clips for a couple weeks and leveling the audio last night, heremst we are! (For some clips, I forgot to turn off the PPSSPP emulator's DevMenu option so that shows up in the top-left, buuut I didn't feel like re-recording those, lmao.)

Details worth reading below the cut here, but tl;dr work has been in progress for over a year in between things, work will continue to be in progress for a while, and the release will happen when everything's ready, but stay tuned, fun's getting started etc etc~

So, I'm sure most of us are familiar with the as-yet-unlocalized-by-Konami TFSP, the seventh and last entry in the Tag Force series on the PSP that came out early in ARC-V's run (featuring the first five series which was a cool first), as well as the current translations out there originally worked on by the guys at XenoTranslations (omarrrio and ScrewTheRules/ClickClaxer01 at GBATemp handling the card and story/etc translations, respectively) and how there are... some issues with what's out there. Everything from the DM story mode being loaded with YGOTAS references (no shade to YGOTAS and much respect to LK/Martin for his ongoing work on it still making me laugh sometimes, ofc) to the off-the-cuff edginess of 2014-2015-era internet culture and the problematic (in some cases, derogatory) language that permeated it--though to its credit, some parts do have some level of translation attempted, but taken as a whole, it can definitely turn people off from giving the game a try and seeing what it brings to the table (which is still a good amount despite the corners Konami cut here/there compared to prior TF games).

I actually did attempt a translation of my own back in 2015 (if you've been following me for a long time, you might remember it lol), tackling the GX story text starting with Judai's heart events, but eventually put it on the backburner as I focused more on my GX subbing work and beginning to finalize everything (which I'm still doing). Sometime in 2022, a friend over on NeoArkCradle (the "anonymous YGO fan" in the opening screen) was poring over the story text and patching it up the best he could to remove the references and inaccuracies with more coherent work, and after a while of seeing what he was working with in the Discord, I was a bit blown away by just how inaccurate much of it was--so alongside him, and using the better tools available since then (including some really awesome work from both nzxth2 [who did a proper re-translation of 5D's TF6 not too long ago and was kind enough to release his tools for it] and our coding helper Xan1242 who we eventually reached out to for some help), I decided to *cracks knuckles* get involved and help give everything a more accurate and professional translation, much like I do with my GX subs, working directly off the Japanese text and files. I've been taking cracks at everything in between the GX episodes I've been finalizing going back to at least last January (and I'd used my little hiatus after finalizing GX Season 2's subs to really get at some other stuff throughout the game), starting with re-translating DM's story text but also properly translating other aspects of the game, from the character names (using the original Japanese names, including those of the TF-exclusive characters, partly since Konami made a whole mess of them in English TF1-5), in-duel dialogue, pack descriptions, and more to images with Japanese text (such as localizing the in-duel cut-in onomatopoeia as you see in the video above, or other little images throughout) using some Photoshop skills I've picked up. And it's been a joint effort, as said NAC friend and I have been bouncing off how we'd like to see this go between us to stay on the same page and all, while also checking with other translators there for second/third opinions as needed.

Our plan is to release two versions of a translation--one which uses the OCG [translated] card names in Story Mode, in-duel, and other text but not in the game's card system (mainly to deal with story-relevant notes like Osiris vs Slifer with the Gods or things like not-Utopia Hope being symbolic between Yuma and Astral, akin to how I do my GX subs), and one which uses the TCG card names in everything (like how the official subs go about it). While we're mostly working with the Japanese game files due to how the Xeno team went about decoding everything, we'll be using the card-system-related files from the fixed ISO provided by FLSGaming which fixed some issues that had been present there. And Xan has helped us with a plugin that will be used to apply our translations to the system files that were hard to edit otherwise (things like the character and recipe names, as well as the pack names pulled from for the Card Description screen), but more on how that'll work once this is ready for release, lol. At some point, I'd like to also look at HDifying textures and things, but that's definitely a bonus-level thing for after the main work here is done.

SO.

Currently, Story-Mode-wise, I've gone through everything up to Yusei's events--so Dark Yugi/Kaiba/Jounouchi/Ishizu/Mai in DM, Judai/Manjoume/Asuka/Misawa/Ryou in GX, and Yusei in 5D's have been fully retranslated, though I took initial cracks at Yuma and Yuya's events to get content for this video lol (I've also been intentionally holding off on as much ZEXAL as I can until I've properly watched the whole show so I have context). I haven't tackled overworld text yet, though (like pre-duel or the tournament-related text, which is all in the same file as all the story text). I've also been handling the in-duel dialogue as I go through the character stories, so also just up to Yusei, though I did take initial cracks at Aki's, Yuma and Shark's, and Yuya and Yuzu's for the video.

Other things tackled that were sprinkled into the video, along with some other notes:

Pack names and descriptions have been retranslated, though the descriptions may see minor edits closer to release for a little variety between worlds given the different characters at the shop. Character recipe names were also retranslated, with Yugipedia's translations for them used as an occasional second opinion, though ones based on pack names had to be abbreviated in spots.

Menu text, from the Options to Help screens and stuff in between, has been retranslated, as have in-duel text strings (so, you'll see a full "Activate Effect" instead of "Activate" or "Switch to Attack/Defense Position" instead of "Switch to ATK/DEF Position", etc--also fixed the "BATTELE PHASE" graphic typo, and NAC friend created a new translation for the "Turn Change" graphic for accuracy since ENG TF1-5 made that into "Next Player's Turn").

Database stuff, such as the Sound Test, Tutorials, Duel Missions, etc., have been retranslated closer to the Japanese text; originally I retranslated the Tutorial text via hex editor, with compromises done on quite a bit of it due to the space limits, but as Xan recently updated a text extractor tool of theirs to more cleanly pull out and reinsert that text, I've been going through and fleshing out those translations more (on my commutes to/from work mostly, to be productive lol).

As mentioned, I've been localizing/translating Japanese-text images throughout the game as I come across them, like with the in-duel onomatopoeia that come up during cut-ins or images in the shop/duel/etc screens using Japanese text, to make sure the game is fully translated.

The series logos, used during the title sequence and in the Series Select screens, were updated with translated fan edits shared on Deviantart (which we'll credit in the final release) for DM and GX, while the 5D's-ARC-V logos were edited to enlarge the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" text on them that was pretty hard to see originally.

The game's original opening sequence starts on an anti-piracy message before going into the Konami logo and then a "From Yu-Gi-Oh!..." screen before the opening animation for each series logo--the original team decided to use the first image to vent their frustration at Konami for not localizing this game, and while that's valid (to some extent), we thought we'd use the opportunity to dedicate this project to Kazuki Takahashi for inspiring our love for YGO and the place it's had in our hearts for all these years.

We'll be updating the names of cards that had TCG releases after the original patch was worked on/updated by FLSG to those corresponding names.

Xan has been working on many UI fixes for us to apply with this, among them 3-line dialogue box text as is used in the ENG TF1-5 games--once implemented for TFSP, I'll be going over everything to make full use of that extra space where needed, so things might not look as they do in the video by then.

Character bios will be worked on after I've done the story stuff, though I've taken initial cracks at it for Yuma and Yuya's bios for the video, along with translating the location/affiliation names ("Domino High School," "Satellite," etc).

Currently no release date is planned, as I'm working on this between my GX-finalizing work and actual IRL work, though we'll see how later this year looks as more work gets done--but as noted in the video, all things being equal, it will be released when everything is ready. I'll try to post regular updates or rambles now that this announcement's been made, lol, but do try not to constantly check in on a release date. 🙏🏽

All that said, I think that covers just about everything I wanted to put out there with this, lol. It's been fun to work on this so far and getting to see what I've re-translated in-game is definitely neat; looking forward to us being able to release everything when ready.

this is a more general question that may have been asked before, but do you know of any resources or combination of that would help with learning in a similar way to duolingo? the easy access, repetition, and spoken word was extremely helpful with the beginnings of russian, italian, & irish for me but then they fucked everything up

Sorry for the delay on this one, I don't really have a good answer for you. In general there's a lack of high quality resources available for Irish. I made a post talking about why not to use duolingo and what you can use instead, but they're not really equivalents as much as other paths.

I'm not aware of any good apps which provide comprehensive teaching of Irish along with good pronunciation, but some of the stuff in that post may be helpful.

Oh this is gonna sound like such cheesy self promo but honestly I forgot I made this until someone reminded me of it today lmao. I made an anki flashcard deck for Irish, it features nearly 1000 of the most common words in Irish, if you like flashcards and anki you might find this helpful since it does have the repetition and the spoken word aspects (and unlike duolingo it has recordings of native speakers, not their bad TTS).

Anki is kind of annoying to use for some people, it's a bit confusing and has some setup time, but it's really powerful and can be really good for helping you get that initial vocabulary to move on to watching tv and reading books. (Also you can use it on mobile, the iOS app is expensive but the website works fine on phones).

For this deck I picked the words from a dataset of TV subtitles, so the words are actually common in everyday speech (I've seen a lot of Irish word frequency lists which just don't line up with speech), and it has recordings of each word along with definitions, example sentences and recordings of the example sentence. I also ordered the deck in such a way that the simplest example sentences are near the start and you should be able to understand the examples sentences (mostly) with only the words you've done up to that point.

The deck specifically uses Galway Irish, which I don't actually speak myself, but it's more common on the tv show Ros na Rún (and a lot of Irish TV in general), so it was easier to get clips of it.

I DIDN'T cry in the arcade, I swear I didn't, depending on what your definition of crying is. lmao. I knew my eyes were less dry than usual but no one else would have.

I'm surprised, shocked even, that all three cabinets were still working. as mentioned here and there, I haven't been able to play for various reasons for a long time, so I have no idea how many people are still playing here. all I knew is from Luna posting about her trip where she encountered various defunct cabinets. I assumed that the ones at my home arcade would be the same. I guess that's the difference between tokyo and osaka at work... admittedly my arcade is hardly the top pretty series arcade in osaka, though. it's closest to the station so it's frequented by a lot of tourists etc passing through to spectate, which means it gets loud/a little unpleasant sometimes, which probably drives away most of the serious (?) primagi players (and those of other games too). but I can handle that if it means I'm not having to pack up all my cards and eject my usb and move after every single game.

anyway, none of that matters because I'm moving out of osaka and primagi is moving out of existence. the whole 3ish? hours I played today not a single other person came to play primagi until I was packing up to go. I was able to play and record everything I wanted to without being rushed or distracted or whatever. I almost didn't go at all because I'm moving next tuesday and it feels really irresponsible to go to the city and play at the arcade for hours this close, but... while packing I found a lithium ion battery that had swelled up into a mouse-sized pillow and the only place in the goddamn prefecture that will dispose of sick batteries happens to be a 20-minute walk away from my arcade. so I had no choice but to go!

luckily I set aside some coords & MAGIC☆VITAMIN's ids just in case back when I packed my pretty series box, so I already had that ready in my bag! kind of wish I'd gone over all of my coords a little better or picked coords that matched each other better, but I was focused on packing quickly at the time, and I didn't even use one of the coords I brought, so that doesn't even qualify as a regret. a little closer to a regret is how my larger usb did that thing where it gets too excited and stops recording in the middle of my game, so I spent the the last half of my arcade time muttering please please please PLEASE keep recording dont freak out you can do it come on come on--but it always does this so in a way, it was just like old times. back in the arcade with my wretched usb at my side. I got everything I wanted to record in one piece, at least, though it took a couple tries sometimes.

I was planning on only getting friend cards because I love looking at them and I don't need to start collecting coords on my final day of playing the game lmao, but!! I forgot or didn't know there are pretty rhythm coords in primagi!! I knew about the pripara and prichan ones, but other than Mirai's they were mostly stuff I don't care abt seeing on my idols... but the pretty rhythm ones!! they added so many details and definition to update the coords for primagi, and I love looking at that sort of thing!! I only did extra shopping one time when pure premium wedding and rainbow 7th coord showed up in the same game, and then with the random cards you get at the end of the game I managed to finish both, as you can see at the beginning of this post :)

I ended up playing an extra game with Milk because I wanted to see her in the wedding dress, and I was planning on playing one final game with Biscuit, but then... well, I'm totally unaware of the new songs aside from Miruki's Puzzle Buzz one, so I just chose the Himeme/Mychara Girls duet because I wanted to see a Milk/Biscuit pretty rhythm duo, and.... oh my god. it was the cutest song in the world, even (impossibly!) cuter than Buzzle. my idols got engaged......... in pretty rhythm wedding dresses..... . it seemed like too perfect a place to finish my primagi career (and I had to record it twice bc of my usb) (and I didn't particularly have any coord/song in mind to use for Biscuit after that) (and right after hearing morning and gift in the arcade after so long it was a direct hit to my idol emotions) so I finished up and went home.

I'm really glad I got to play one last time. I had already resigned myself to the fact that I just wouldn't get to, that's how it had to be and it sucks that I'm moving at the same time, and I figured it would be fine because I haven't been able to play regularly. but I feel so relieved since I went! I'm going to the middle of nowhere so I won't be able to play aipri verse regularly even if I want to (tbd), so I think this nice long farewell concert helped me feel ok about primagi ending and moving away and whatever aipri is going to be instead of just like... it's inevitable, so oh well.

I haven't had time to check the vids yet. fingers crossed that they turned out fine...

monday, april 1, 2024

8:16a forgot to record when i woke up and stuff. i got to school around 30 mins ago. currently sitting in the library of my uni. i released Democracy is Magic this morning, me and my friend’s abridged, and so far it’s been getting good reviews from the two people i sent it to that have seen it lol. em saw it in a private screening, and she liked it. she told me later that she has quotes stuck in her head, lol. i actually forgot today was aprils fools day lmao, to me it was just release day.

i forgot my airpods at home :( and it’s still 1:50 until my first and only class. brutal. then i drive to work lol

Oh boy. I wrote an entire Wonderlands x Showtime superhero au, it has two very lengthy, self indulgent one shots. I doubt I'm going to post those one shots specifically, but I'd love to post for the AU.

Most comments yeah! I like when authors reply to my comments and I assume my readers like that too? I don't intend to change that!

18. Do you typically post multi-chapters as you write, or finish it all and then start posting? Would you like to change your posting method?

I tend to write a few beginning chapters before posting as a sort of buffer while I write the rest. However I'm really bad at multi-chapters so we don't really make it too far with those D: hoping to change that! I don't want to change that method but perhaps I should..

i forgot to post about last night's sprints but i got a chapter one, a beginning of a chapter 3 (i'm doing a jumping timelines thing so i wanted to stick to that one while i did the follow-up to chapter 1) and a decent idea where the present timeline is going for the first act of the book

also much more exciting (to me and no one else), i'm back to mapmaking baybeee

basically it's a lot of refining of the map i made just before nanowrimo started. vectorizing that map is kind of essential if i want it to be useful in the future, and it proved to me a little problematic, but in the end i found that inkscape has a really strong tool for it, as long as you work strictly in black and white.

but first I tweaked the threshold tool of affinity photo to edit my map (i'm so glad i kept the file with all its many layers and not just the final render LOL). i also adjusted the curves so the map's a little different

mostly it's flattening the ocean floor because there was a pretty sharp dive.

then with the threshold that got me a total of 25 maps (though i discarded one of them) for varying altitude values.

those are for the surface, and these are for the sea

just for the record, since the original file (you know, based on data from nasa) is humongous, each of these took a decent amount of time rendering, and THEN it took forever to get inkscape to vectorize them. most of my afternoon and evening. good thing i was wasting it with mandatory family team building exercises anyway.

anyway. once all these are vectorized, i can pop into affinity designer, add some colors, slide stuff around to get a nicer cutoff, and voilà! a map

for comparison, the same file using the raster map above looks like this:

it obviously looks darker because the vector one essentially rounds down altitudes, so i'm keeping both versions handy just in case. but i'm pretty amazed at how little detail was lost. inkscape did some real magic in there.

(well also it is still a massive file. a big chungus. i didn't know vector images could even be this big. but yeah it makes sense)

now of course the real data under this map still uses the old cutoff point and i just duplicated the map to get this. the next step is to unscramble all that, and then, well, i guess i'll have the vector map i wanted and i can work on climate zones. which will be useful so i can decide where my protagonist actually is in the scenes i'm writing lmao.

speaking of, it's past 10pm already (not just because of this, my mom did waste more of my evening) so i should, like, do a writing sprint. I guess.

Some of y'all shit on so many of the world champions in this sport so easily and it shows.

You can disagree on who you think the goat driver is (personally it's Michael for me and he probably always will be, he's who a supported as kid and even little me who knew nothing about racing was awestruck by his driving but I can acknowledge my bias while I also remind you of the fact he's the only driver with a 100% podium finish for an entire season lmao sorry) but you certainly don't need to tear another driver down to hype one up.

It's also pretty impossible to name an absolute goat F1 driver, because you can't really compare say Lewis to Jim Clark because Clark's life and career got cut so tragically short, and you do have to factor in the difference between the cars (you can't compare say Fangio's Ferrari to say Michael or Kimi's, even though all *3 cars (*technically 7 cars since Fangio & Kimi won one championship each with Ferrari & Michael won 5 but I digress) won a championship because the cars simply don't have all the same capabilities or technology and as much as people debate what a past driver like say Hunt could do in a younger more technically advanced car that also was a wdc winning car like Mika's or Lewis' respective McLarens, we'll never truly know because so many drivers have passed on and even so you can't really compare people after the end of their career to drivers still at the beginning because you genuinely don't know what a younger driver will truly be capable of. Unless you're Niki Lauda then you're pretty much always on the money with your observations). Different eras bring different talents to the forefront, every era has it's own goat.

A lot of you also don't understand how hard it actually is to win a championship, it's only getting harder every year as the schedule gets longer. It takes everything and more and sometimes that still isn't enough. And not every driver that wins is going to break the all time record, that doesn't negate their talent. Senna is held up as one of the all times greats and he has three to Fangio's five world championships (the record at the time Senna was racing which was eventually broken by Michael and of course Senna's career and life like Clark's got cut tragically short, once again proving my point that you can't really choose one standalone drivers as the goat). Mansell, Nico, Jenson, Kimi, Jacques Villeneuve to name a few only took one championship home but they all had incredible careers in the sport. People forgot that not every driver wants to beat the record, Hunt wanted a championship to prove that he was capable of it, he did and retired a year later because he no longer owed anybody anything, he'd already proven himself. Others like Moss, Barrichello, Ickx to name a few never did get that title but they also had incredible careers in the sport.

A lot of you do need to put respect on their names because you're far too quick to disrespect their accomplishments and achievements while trying to shit on Max. "It took so long for him to win it he's been in seven seasons" it took Jenson ten, Nico eleven, Mansell thirteen and there's six years between Lewis' first and second title. "He'll only win one" you say as an insult (and as if you know the outcome of every future season), as if every driver on the grid wouldn't nearly kill for just one (or one more in the case of Seb Nando & Lewis) or as if the achievements of the drivers I mentioned earlier (and of others I neglected to mention) mean nothing. Some of you need to start putting respect on their names.

"We don't have to like every driver", I'm not saying you do but you certainly don't need to tear them down to hype your fav up. It's also a lil concerning when your blog is more full of anti posts for a driver you dislike than posts supporting for your fav. Life's far too short to spend so much time on hate. The sooner some of you learn to process your anger and let it go, the better.

“Evil spirit be purged!” The exorcist slams his fist onto his palm and the talismans all quickly dissipate. With a harrowing scream from an unknown source, a weight feels like it’s been lifted off your shoulders.

“Wow! That was my first proper exorcism!” The boy exclaims. An exorcism? You were being haunted?

“What?!” You suddenly cry out. People suddenly look over in your direction.

“Ah, so my theory was correct,” Zhongli says to himself. “It was a malicious spirit following you around.”

“A ghost?”

“Yes. It was quite a potent one too. It managed to resist my pure yang energy enough to not run off in my presence,” The exorcist happily explains. “I don’t know how it got attached to you, but that should be the end of whatever harm it was causing you. Very well, I’d best be on my way now. My services are free of charge!” He says as a final note and walks off, barely containing his excitement of his first proper exorcism.

“Oh thank the gods, I forgot to pay him,” Zhongli mutters under his breath.

“Can you let me go now?” You ask.

“Oh! Yes, right. My apologies.” With a wave of his hand, your rocky constraints dissolve back into the earth.

“Right... Now what the hell was that?”

“I suppose I do owe you an explanation. It wasn’t fair of me to do something without your knowledge, but I had enlisted that exorcist on the chance that there was a ghost causing your abhorrent luck. Such events simply aren’t natural... But it turns out it was true. I’m very sorry for doing all this behind your back. I just don’t want you to eventually get hurt one day. The circumstances you could find yourself in could be perilous, and I don’t want to see the one I love suffer so often. It feels selfish since you didn’t want to do anything, but—“

You cut off Zhongli by placing a finger on his lips. “You don’t need to apologize so much. Thank you for looking out for me. It means a lot to me.” You pull him into a hug. The poor guy looked sad from guilt, so you have to show him he’s not in trouble. “But I won’t be able to have anymore crazy stories.”
