SPOILERS FOR IF WE WERE VILLAINS!

I just finished If We Were Villains and it definitely gets the hype it deserves, but after reading it and experiencing a couple things in life it made me realize that being a good person actually just sometimes sucks. Like Oliver was so inherently good, despite being the ‘side character’ in every one of his roles. Almost immediately after discovering James was the one who killed Richard, he was willing to confess for James in a heartbeat; ergo, spending ten years in prison for him. Only to get out and find that James killed himself. And that he was known as a muderer. And that Wren and Alexander and his family won’t talk to him.

I just don’t understand how a person can be so good and get nothing they deserve? It makes me so sad.

ok like here me out james is a prince or something and everyone else also has like royal roles (meredith = princess from another kingdom, oliver = knight, pip = lady in waiting, richard = other prince, etc.) but like they're all part of this royal theater club and put on shows idk then one day of course everything messes up and the king and queen of a bunch of places (james' kingdom, meredith's, etc.) question them abt richard, sometimes the group has to split up and go back to their own kingdom before reuniting again, james confesses to oliver, oliver lies to the royal ppl, he gets banished idk into poverty or prison idk
