Alley Drunk! Danny AU- Pt. 4
[Pt.1] [Pt.2] [Pt.3]
Danny blinked down at the cart, where a red hoodie and pants with red stripes along the side laid over the lip of the cart. Considering they’re in this universe’s brand of Marget- seriously, who names a store Target? If anything in Amity Park was named that, Skulker would have wrecked it in five seconds flat- it’s hilariously on brand. Though, to be fair, this was Gotham’s version too, which meant a lot of security guards (who definitely doubled as goons for the Rogues, Danny was sure) and the vibes were spooky.
“I’m guessing red’s your favorite color.”
Instead of the humorous way he meant the sentence, Jason looked up anxiously and Danny immediately hated himself a little bit more.
“Sh- I can put it back..?” Jason hunched in on himself.
Danny tracked the movement with clearer eyes than he’s had in a long while and ancients, does it remind him of how Dani was in front of Vlad all those years ago. And Danny has spent his entire half life being not like Vlad, so he’s not going to start now.
“Nah, you should definitely add some more stuff. This is no where near enough clothes.”
It really wasn’t. Danny had taken Jason to the store to pick out clothes- “Ther’s a second hand store down the stree’, ya know,” Jason had mumbled when they went through the doors- but the kid had only tentatively put in a small red hoodie and some pants in the cart. Now he had to put this in a way that’ll wipe the stubbornly hesitant look on Jason’s face off.
“Think about it this way, then. You’re repping me now, and while I might be the alley drunk, I’m not the poorly dressed alley drunk, yeah?”
“Oh. Tha’ makes sense.” Jason nodded to himself determinedly, and the kid strode over to the t-shirt section. For all of his confidence, he still glanced back to see if it was okay with Danny.
Well, Dani was the same way before she found her confidence (when she knew Danny wouldn’t abandon her or hurt her) so Danny just gave him a thumbs up before reaching into the rack and sweeping an armful of clothing straight into the cart. Then, he strode over to the jackets and grabbed the ones in Jason’s size and slightly bigger. Oh, he has to grab shoes. He’ll leave that for later, but Danny was going to get those ratty trainers off of Jason’s feet and into the nearest trash can if it was the last thing he does.
The halfa hummed, pausing at the first decidedly not miserable sound he’s made in a while. Dammit, if that wasn’t a sign of Danny’s attachment to Jason, he doesn’t know what would be. To be fair… Danny already committed murder for the kid, which was pretty much something he thought he’d never do, so in for a penny out for a pound or whatever.
He put a significant amount of the budget aside for the section labeled “JASON” so Danny shopped without a worry. Charlie’s ill-gotten assets were a good monetary compensation for his crime of existing near Jason or existing, period.
He picked up toiletries, toothbrushes and the like, when Jason came back sans t-shirt. Instead of a shirt- Danny had actually hoped that Jason would try to get multiple shirts- Jason was clutching a book.
Before he could even voice anything, Danny plucked the book out of his grip and put it into the cart with a disarming smile.
“Oh, good idea. We should get you books too. Wanna go pick out some more?”
“Uh- y’re just gonna get a book, just like that?”
“More than one book, I should hope. You are going to school, right?”
“…Yeah!” Danny couldn’t fathom ever being excited at the thought of school, but as Jason bounced away to peruse the admittedly poor selection of books, Danny couldn’t help but think that maybe he should give this education thing another try. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be less stressful now that he’s not Phantom.
Danny walked to the aisle next to the books and promptly proceeded to shove every single piece of stationary he thought was nice- pens, gel pens, cooling pens and pencils, a thick stack of notebooks, flash cards, etcetera- into the rapidly getting full cart.
Jason came back with three more books- nice, the classics- and froze at the sight of the cart.
“Oh, hey. Getting all of those?”
“Wha’- wha’s wit’ the stuff?”
“School supplies! Quality education starts with quality supplies, you know!” Danny said, a sliver of the grin that used to come so easily to him making an appearance on his face. "Don't worry, I budgeted. See?"
Danny handed Jason a piece of paper, confident that the kid would know if it was good or not.
"Where'd... ya get all of this?"
"Hmm... here and there."
Jason looked up at him, squinting suspiciously. "I hear' Charlie's gone poofed up."
Danny shrugged and put a calculator in the cart. "Oh, I'm sure he's busy."
Yeah, Danny thought vindictively. Busy being dead.
"Ya sound like a walking con," Jason said as he visibly decided to give up fighting against Danny's spending. "We nee' food."
"Gotcha. Well, if you need anything else, just bring it into the cart."
"I want veggies. Frozen, 's cheaper."
Danny nodded, resisting the urge to ruffle Jason's hair.
----
"Hey, you's the Alley Drunk, right? 'Bout that boy you've been toting ar-"
Danny punched the guy in the face, dropping him like a stone. He looked up slowly and swayed.
"Any of you ask about my kid brother again, and I won't bother with being drunk when I hit you."
Rapid nods. Danny shuffled away, satisfied.
----
Two weeks later, after a school day, Danny finds Jason heading to the bathroom with a box of...
"Hair-dye?"
Jason, who was marginally more relaxed and assured that Danny wasn't going to kick him out, nodded.
"Dye's fadin' n' I dun wanna get nabbed on the streets for having red hair."
Danny blinked. "You have red hair?"
"Sure do. See? Roots are showin' again." Jason pointed at his scalp where Danny could see the hair was getting lighter.
"Right. Well- I'll leave you to it. Let me know if you need help, kiddo." Danny said, desperately hoping he hid how off kilter he was feeling well.
"I don't need help, ah've been doing this for ages." The kid went into the bathroom and closed the door harshly. When the lock clicked and the faucet began running, Danny let himself slide down the wall into a crouch, hands cradling his head.
Red hair. Blue eyes. Tan skin. The facial features. The intelligence and empathy.
Danny chuckled hysterically under his breath.
Was Jason this universe's version of Jazz?
"Fuck."

Yet another Twin au because why not!?!?
So in usual fics and stuff where Dami and Danny are twins it always starts with how they are separated(usually by mission failure or they are pinned against each other in a fight to the death and so on)
Here—similar to other’s— Danny and Damian fight. Danny dies and Talia revives him in the Pit and leaves him with the Fenton’s with no memory of who he was.
When he becomes a halfa he remembers his life before and sets out to rescue his brother form the league because even if Dami killed him he can’t let his brother stay in such an awful place while he is having a good life half-life.
So he goes to the league (invisibility of course) and finds that Damien ISNT EVEN THERE!
He searches, and searches until he finds him in Gotham with their bio-father living a normal life, more or less…. “Holy shit my bio-dad is batman!?!”
Danny decides that Damien would be better off without him (basically he chickened out)
He goes home and is talking about this to is friends and sister and one of his ghost frienamies over hears and tells Danny he should go be with his brother like “dude he’s gonna be real pissed when he dies and finds out you were alive this whole time!” (Probably Ember). Danny tells whoever it is to basically fuck off. (Thinking that they only want Danny gone so they could fuck around with out them finding out)
Said ghost doesn’t take it well, and in a spur of the moment decision goes and tells the other ghosts and they devise a plan to go to Gotham and cause chaos until Phantom stops being a baby and goes to see his brother.
So a team of Johnny(and shadow), Kitty, Ember, and Skulker basically go on a double date to cause mischief and the box ghost and the lunch lady on the opposite side of town (also on a date because i say so) and the bat fam are freaking out because wtf are all these meta’s doing here? And they are getting their asses handed to them before Phantom shows up to take his ghosts back to the ghost zone.
But as soon as Damien see’s phantom there is like a record scratch moment and now Damien is ignoring the ghosts and just chasing Phantom with no explanation. All the ghosts stop just to watch and are giggling and laughing which confused the bat fam cuz they were fighting just a second ago.
Kitty says something about a family reunion causing Bruce to stomp up next to the ghosts and say a simple command of “explain!”
Johnny turns to him, “jeez Pops, cant you see the resemblance?”
Ember looks to him, “we dont know the whole story but BabyPop over there was killed and found out his brother was alive and fighting crime, we just decided to give him a little push in the right direction so the can reconnect!”
Johnny, who got tired of watching Damien chase Danny sicks Shadow on Danny and catches him.
Danny is struggling but when he looks up he see’s his twin brother who had killed him, crying (a rare sight to anyone) and just hugs him as he blabbers apologize for doing what grandfather had made them do.

Respect or Privacy (1)
Tucker is excited for everything about college, even having a roommate for the first time. At least, he is until his roommate Danny turns out to be standoffish and a little bit of a dick. Whatever. It's a disappointment, but he'll survive. The same might not be said of Danny.
This is my first fic for Phic Phight 2024. The prompts I used were:
College AU where the characters don't meet until college and Danny has to hide his halfa status from his dorm roommate (your choice which character that is) [from @shadowfaerieammy], and Tucker fucked up. Hard. But it’s like, how the hell was he supposed to know that hacking the federal government was a bad idea? [from @lexosaurus]
You can also read it on AO3.
Chapter 1: Fuck Around (Chapter 2)
[No warnings apply]
Tucker was excited for college. After the nightmare that was high school (his dad's "just be confident and people will like you and treat you well" advice had been complete garbage), he was looking forward to a school experience where everyone had actually signed up for and more-or-less wanted to be there. He was looking forward to studying programming and information technology, and spending six hours a day on average hanging out with people who were just as interested in those subjects as he was.
Then, obviously, there were the college girls—big bonus to this whole experience. Lastly, he was looking forward to the dorm experience. He'd always been kind of lonely growing up. He was an only child, and he'd never had any close friends. Honestly, he'd been closer with his bullies than he had been to the other guys in the A/V club his mom had convinced him to join which was... embarrassing.
But all freshman were required to live on campus, and he'd signed up for a double room, meaning that he would have a roommate who would have no choice but to spend time with him, and as a result, they would have to get used to each other, and learn to live with each other, and inevitably become best friends—at least until the end of freshman year.
When Tucker reached his new dorm, room 416, he could hear grumbling and shuffling on the other side of the door. His roommate must already be here. He grinned as he opened the door.
"Hey, roomie!" Tucker greeted cheerfully.
His roommate jumped at the sound, and slammed a dresser drawer closed on his finger. "Fuck!" he yelped, and turned around with a wide-eyed look on his face like he'd just been caught doing something illegal.
"Uh... sorry," Tucker said. "Didn't mean to spook ya."
"Heh, you didn't... I mean you surprised me, but I wasn't like... scared...." He cleared his throat and gave Tucker an awkward forced smile. "I'm Danny."
"Tucker Foley." Tucker tossed his duffel bag onto the empty bed and gently placed his box of tech on the desk next to it. "Looked like you were struggling with that drawer, whatcha got in there?"
Danny's smile fell. "Look, I don't wanna sour our relationship right out of the gate, but that's really none of your business. I would appreciate it if you kept your nose out of my stuff."
"Uh... okay, sure," Tucker agreed. "Wasn't trying to be nosy or anything, anyway. Sorry."
"Good," Danny said, the tension in his body language easing slightly. "As long as you respect my privacy, I think we'll get along fine."
Tucker smiled, but he felt his heart sink. 'Respect my privacy' sounded a lot like it meant 'leave me alone', and 'leave me alone' was pretty much the same as 'I don't want to be your friend', which sounded a lot like all Tucker's hopes for dorm life flushing down the toilet.
"So where're you from, Danny?" Tucker asked. "Or is that information too personal."
Danny paused before answering, like he was genuinely trying to decide if it was too personal or not.
"Illinois," he said finally. "You?"
"Illinois, also. What town?" Tucker asked. "Man, wouldn't it be wild if we grew up in the same place and never met before? I'm from Elmerton."
"Elmerton? Ew," Danny said with a laugh. "I'm an Amity Parker. I'd rather die than live in Elmerton. Elmerton sucks."
"Hey! It may be kinda boring, I'll give you that much, but it's still better than haunted-ass Amity Park!" Tucker argued, thankful it seemed like things were starting to lighten up a bit between him and his new roommate. "At least I didn't grow up surrounded by a bunch of evil ghosts taking revenge on the living."
Tucker was laughing, but just like that, Danny's demeanor got cold and closed off again. Shit. Tucker let his laughter awkwardly trail off, wondering what he'd said wrong. Man, making friends was even harder than he thought.
"Is that all your stuff?" Danny asked. "Just the one bag and a cardboard box?"
"Oh! No! I still have some things to bring up; I left them with the dorm supervisor. I better go get 'em."
"Yeah, you probably should," Danny agreed. "I wouldn't put that much trust in the dorm supervisor, he seemed kinda shady."
"Er... right."
Tucker went down to grab the last of his stuff, and by the time he reentered the dorm room, Danny was gone.
He sighed. "Great first impression, Tuck. Well done."
Danny must've arrive much earlier in the day than Tucker had, because most of his stuff was already unpacked. His bed was made and everything. As Tucker's eyes wandered over Danny's side of the room, they were drawn to the bottom drawer of his dresser, the one he'd accidentally slammed his finger in, trying to make sure Tucker didn't see what was in it.
"I shouldn't," he said out loud. "Danny literally asked for one thing—that I respect his privacy."
Poking around now would be completely stupid. It would ruin my chances of ever being friends with him. Tucker reminded himself internally.
Still, he couldn't tear his eyes away from that drawer.
And he doubted Danny would be back any time soon. It wouldn't be dark for a few more hours at least, and Danny was clearly avoiding him.
Against his better judgement, Tucker knelt down on the floor and opened the dresser drawer, expecting to see sex toys, or lingerie, or something similarly embarrassing. Instead, he found strange, futuristic looking weapons and technology. It looked like alien shit. Was Danny secretly an alien? No, that was stupid.... Right?
Tucker slowly pushed the drawer closed again, questioning everything he knew about the universe.
He would have preferred sex toys.
No, they had to be earthly technology, because Tucker distinctly remembered seeing a logo emblazoned on everything that said 'Fenton Works'. All he had to do was look that up online and put his mind at ease. Danny seemed like a... fairly reasonably guy. There had to be a good explanation for him having a cache of high tech weapons in a college dorm. Although, to be honest, it wasn't looking too good at the moment.
Tucker unpacked his box of tech, set up his desktop PC set up and plugged in his laptop and PDA to charge. Then, he looked up Fenton Works, which brought him to an absolutely hideous orange and teal website for what seemed to be a small family business in Amity Park that specialized in ghost hunting and developing ghost hunting technology.
A sigh of relief escaped him.
Danny definitely wasn't an alien. He was just another paranoid Amity Parker, worried about ghosts attacking, even though they were all the way in Wisconsin. That was probably why he'd tensed up when Tucker made a crack about ghosts before. Tucker's dad sometimes went to Amity Park for work, and he said they were super serious about ghosts there, and didn't appreciate jokes about their haunting situation. Honestly, Tucker should have known better from the start, but he'd thought they were riffing. He hadn't gotten all offended when Danny made fun of Elmerton.
Whatever. He could apologize when Danny got back. In the meantime, he started programming his class schedule for this semester into his PDA, making sure there would be room for homework—and, more importantly, college parties.
As the days passed and classes started and the two of them both got busier, Tucker made an effort to talk to Danny as much as possible, and even though Danny smiled and responded politely, he always dodged any personal topics. Also, Tucker was pretty sure he was avoiding spending more time together than was strictly necessary, but he couldn't be sure. Still, he was determined for he and Danny to be friends.
"So Danny, I heard about this party one of the frats is hosting to draw in pledges," Tucker said. "Obviously I'm not planning to join a frat, but it could still be fun. Wanna come with me?"
"Uh... I'm not really a party person," Danny said apologetically. "I'm more of a bed person, enjoyer of sleeping and chilling."
"I get that, sure, but don't you want to meet people? Make friends? Maybe find a girlfriend? Or boyfriend, I don't judge."
"Thanks, but no thanks," Danny refused. "You have fun, though."
Tucker left it at that, but he couldn't help wondering what exactly was up with Danny being so standoffish. Did he have a problem with Tucker in particular, or was he just anti-social? It wasn't exactly unusual for someone not to want to go to a party. It could be that he didn't like crowds, or loud music, or being around drunk people, or frats in general. There were plenty of reasons Danny might not want to go—and no evidence that Tucker was part of the reason at all.
That didn't stop Tucker from wondering if he was.
That trend continued for the first month. Tucker would invite Danny to do something as friends, and Danny would decline for one reason or another, no matter what it was Tucker had proposed. Everything from parties in the dorm, to just going to get coffee or tea before classes, whether it was loud or quiet, crowded or solitary—even going to study at the library in silence, Danny always had a reason to say 'no', and Tucker was starting to take it personally.
"Okay, what's your deal?" Tucker demanded after Danny once again refused to join him, this time for literally just takeout in their dorm room—Tuck had offered to pay and everything. "Do you have some kind of problem with me, or something? I just want us to get along and shit, 'cause we're roommates, and we have to live with each other all year, but you keep shutting me down! So what gives?!"
"Nothing," Danny insisted. "Honestly, I'm just not hungry."
"Yeah, this time you're not hungry, but you refused laser tag 'cause you're not very athletic, and studying at the library 'cause you had other plans with your classmates, and coffee before class 'cause you don't drink coffee—even though I've literally seen you drinking coffee before!" Tucker snapped. "Dude, it's ten pm, and you haven't eaten since breakfast, you can't not be hungry, so what's wrong with you?!"
Danny flinched at the question, but Tucker couldn't feel too bad for mildly offending the guy who'd been blowing him off all month.
"Nothing," Danny said again, not meeting Tucker's angry gaze. "I'm just... I'm just a regular, ordinary guy. So go ahead and order takeout if you care so much, I'm not gonna stop you."
"No. That's not good enough," Tucker insisted. "I been trying to hang with you since we moved in, and you keep blowing me off for no good reason. So what's the issue? Is it 'cause I'm black?"
"What?! No!"
"Then what?! Give me one good reason why you're treating me this way?"
"Look, it's not about you, okay?"
"Oh, you're gonna pull out an 'it's not you, it's me'? I'm not your overbearing girlfriend, I'm your roommate, and all I wanted to do was get along."
"I don't want any friends, okay?!" Danny finally burst out. "I don't have any problem with you, I just... I just think I'm better off on my own."
All Tucker could do was stare in disbelief.
"I made up excuses because I didn't want to offend you or anything, because I didn't want us to be on bad terms," Danny continued. "We're still roommates. I know that, and I'm not so stupid that I wanted to torch that relationship right out of the gate, but I'm not looking for someone to be best friends with, you know? All I wanted from a roommate was mutual respect and privacy."
"Why?" asked Tucker at length.
"What do you mean 'why'?"
"I mean, why do you want to be alone all the time?" Tucker pressed. "I been there, and it sucks. It's lonely and sad and pathetic and people make fun of you for being some kind of defective human being who can't get anyone lo like you. Why would you want that?"
"I like my solitude," Danny mumbled. He was back to not being able to look at Tucker again.
"You're afraid," Tucker refuted.
"What makes you say that?"
"It's obvious," Tucker said. "I don't know why, but for some reason you're just fucking terrified of people getting close to you? So what is it? Are you terminally ill or something? Do you secretly just have a totally shitty personality? What?"
For a long moment, Danny was silent, but he did tilt his head up to look Tucker squarely in the eye before speaking.
"That's none of your business."
Tucker's forehead wrinkled and his mouth fell open incredulously. Slowly, he shook his head. "Fuckin' fine. Whatever," he said finally. "You want a roommate who'll leave you alone—you got it. But mutual respect is off the table, 'cause you just lost mine."

DP X BNHA au where Danny finds a way to Musutafu (alternate universe) through the ghost zone. Maybe through the infimap. Maybe a stable portal. Maybe Cujo or Wulf help him. Maybe there are people in the bnha world who are just as interested in portals to separate dimensions.
Either way, it's a reliable way to travel between the two dimensions and when he figures out that's where he's found himself in, Danny decides to keep this little discovery to himself. Just for a little while. He doesn't need to share everything right? It's just a little dose of escapism
When life and responsibilities, ghost fights, or the otherworldiness of being one of only two halfas across the globe gets too stressful for him. He sneaks away. Just for a short while. He can't help it and it doesn't hurt anyone. Danny knows he's a freak in either world. But being surrounded by other people with powers, with mutations that make them look a lot more other than Danny does, a whole society built around having quirks... it makes him feel just a little more normal.
And it turns out that when people don't scream and run at first sight of you, don't even double-take at your appearance, the feeling can get pretty addicting.
Unfortunately for Danny his undocumented and repeated entery into a country in an entirely different universe does... not exactly go unnoticed.
He's literally just trying to chill he didn't mean to kickstart a whole ass investigation into a poor, trafficked? Lost? Runaway? Kidnapped? foreign teenager
But admittedly when a flighty tourest shows up, beat up from an (ghost fight) unknown source and won't answer any questions about where he's from, how he got there, where his parents are or how he got his wounds...
Even Danny can admit he raised some concerning suspicions. But he's hard pressed to let anyone catch up to him. He may not be the best fighter, not that he's about to try fighting professional heroes, but with his powers flight is his specialty
Maybe Danny ends up running into a new hero each time he visits. Aizawa and Yamada for sure, maybe Snipe, Fatgum, or Endeavor at some point. They all think his quirk is something different. Maybe Danny had figured out at this point that multiple powers isn't common here, even possibly suspicious, but he hadn't thought to care much about consistency earlier on. Before he realized people are actually noticing him and looking into him.
Maybe this idea would evolve into a mentor/mentee kind of thing. If Danny still lives in Amity Park then he couldn't really join the school and get any training in the traditional way heroes in the bnha world do. But from the heroe's perspective I don't see them being comfortable with an underaged, unlicensed hero continuing without any kind of training in a place outside their jurisdiction
And on Danny's end maybe he struggles with feeling really attached to this world. But also the one he comes from and his family/friends there. He just ends up feeling so split and missing either world and the people there when he's not in it. Not to mention the responsibility he feels to Amity Park

I am doing Sam first, cause she is cool. The secret was never revealed and the trio lives a double life.
Tumblr media
Samantha "Sam" Mansion
Age: 24
The Leader of an animal rights group, that fights for better treatment of animals and nature. This includes getting kids and their families easier access to information and "good" animal products.
(She is still a hardcore vegan, but has learned that the majority of ppl can't do that.)
Sam is married to both Danny and Trucker and they have a pretty fulfilling relationship.
(Both support her and she supports them. They are still her nerds.)
Character-wise, she is the backbone behind the "eternal trio". No matter who stands against them, she can make them quiver.
She broke contact with her parents after her grandmother died.
Tumblr media
Titel: The bloodied Flower
Position: Keeper of the eternal Gardens || Consort of the Ghost King
Due to having traveled through the ghost zone so many times, she has formed a core. This and the many times she was possessed led to her becoming a really powerful halfa.
As one of the Ghost King's Consorts, she is also one of his closest confidants.
Sam is well known to not back down, like an attack dog.
She is also the keeper of the Eternal Gardens, the place where all the animals and plants that went extinct "live".

I don’t think people talk enough about the aftermath of Danny’s fight against evil!Danny (aka Dan) in ultimate enemy. like dude had just learned that he has an evil double from a future in which he became the most powerful ghost around, who had rid himself of his humanity in order to not feel the immense heartache he felt after his entire family and friends died in an explosion, with which his teacher was talking to his parents about the fact he had copied a very important test. Which had greatly stressed him out, cause it was about what you would want to do when you grow up, and what job and career he would want to pursue in life (this test subject did NOT age well at all)
Now here’s some problems with this, 1: Danny is FOURTEEN YEARS OLD and shouldn’t be worrying about what kinda career he would want as a living when he’s not even old enough to drive a car. This test would have at least been appropriate if he was, say seventeen or eighteen, like around the age he where he would possibly be looking for a job. I understand that times were different when this episode was made, but rationally speaking this test was for sure made for older students, and I don’t think Danny should have been given this test.
2: HE’S HALF GHOST! Like yeah if you could brush off what I had said above and be like “beanie, that’s probably what the school worked back then, no need to get so uptight about an early 2000’s cartoon.” In which I’d say, yeah, I probably am taking this a little seriously, but try telling everyone else in this phantom that who have made wonderfull art and au’s and fics centered around some small crumbs of info from the show and say “you’re taking this too seriously.” And you’d probably get the internet equivalent to a pie yo the face.
Anyways back to what I was saying, sure the school doesn’t know about Danny being a halfa (and neither does every other character besides Danny’s friends and his sister) but my point is that the test asking “what job/career do you want to pursue in the future?” Wouldn’t have possibly made Danny think about the fact that Danny’s basically half dead, and any job or career he would have would be pretty difficult when he constantly has to keep his ghost half a secret for the rest of his life, and that’s even implying he can even age after the incident with the ghost portal (which as we know with Dan, he in fact can keep aging, but even then I think he can only age to a certain point until his ghost genes tell him to stop, like around his late or early twenty’s)
So that’s A LOT of existentialism to give to a child from one simple test, and to further put salt into an already open wound, one of the characters even said that if “you fail the test then you’d have to work at nasty Burger” like what the actual fuck?? Like I know these teachers want their students to succeed in life, but realistically speaking if this type of situation happened in real life (and it most likely did, bless the poor souls that had to endure that.) that’s how you get people taking their own life. Which I know is pretty dark, but you try being happy and chipper after hearing about the possibility that if you failed this ONE test you would be nothing but an ugly stain in the job industry, I would actually cry if I was in that situation.
In short, the test Danny was given was a big part as to why evil Dan was brought into existence in the first place, and the events that happened to have Dan to become who he is is both funny and extremely depressing.

He approximately killed 3-6 persons a year but hadn’t killed anyone in the last year and started to run out of money. In April, he gladly accepted his next mission, a wealthy businessman in the name of Vladimir Masters.
Morals:
Danny is now ok to kill people, after all animals kill to eat, humans also kill animals for food. Receiving money to kill somebody isn’t so different from receiving money to butcher a cow for steak. After long conversations with his vegan friend Sam, he concluded that animals' lives don’t worth less than human lives. Moreover humans kill other humans, for oils or other horrible beliefs (racism, homophobia etc…). At least he does it to help his sister and not twisted pleasure. Like he says “He didn’t have a choice and can’t go back.”
Danny used to but doesn't have regrets anymore, “What's done is done” and what he earns help him to keep Fenton Works and Jazz alive by moving her to a better hospital.
He doesn’t have guilt either, the one to blame is the person who asks him to kill. The one to blame is the person who wants to kill, not the knife. Like a knife he is only a ‘tool’.
Even if he never sees a ghost he believes in a sort of afterlife, and isn’t scared of death. He only hopes to survive long enough until Jazz fully heals.

Danny is making sure to visit her at least twice a week to keep her company and brought her plenty of books he lends from the library (even if she doesn’t always have the strength to read its, she is happy to have Danny to keep her company).
Though weaker, Jazz is intelligent and doesn’t believe one second the “insurance money” excuse, but she lets Danny has his secrets anyway until the day he decides to tell her everything. Little she suspects her baby brother, who smells like fried food and cheap burgers, has his hands covered with blood.

Ok, I’ve tried and tried and tried to write this fic because I see it so clearly in my mind but it’s just not going no matter what I do. But I don’t want the idea to die with me. The closest this came to being written was exile which was an attempt to bleed out some of the energy of this au.
Anyway, so it starts off vaguely similar to canon only more aggressive. There had been underlying tension between ghosts and humans for a while, the dead jealous/angry at the living for disrespecting them. The successful creation of the Fenton ghost portal (and another halfa) was considered an act of war and so the ghosts responded in kind. So basically all of S1 occurs fairly close to canon except ghost attacks are more violent and have increasingly more consequences as time passes. Also the attacks aren’t just in Amity Park with ghosts becoming a worldwide issue but Amity is a focal point. Regular people know the ghosts hate them though they don’t know why. Phantom is very much a controversial figure as he is a ghost but also clearly is fighting off the more violent ghosts.
One day, not long after the events of Control Freaks, Amity Park wakes up to find three of their own are gone. Danny Fenton, Sam Manson and Tucker Foley are nowhere to be found. There’s a massive manhunt, the parents go on TV and beg for information but they cannot be found. Curiously enough, town hero Phantom was also missing. There’s some evidence they left of their own volition so the Mansons and Foleys eventually relent that the kids fled on their own. The Fentons are 100% certain the kids were stolen/killed by ghosts as a statement. And the fact that Phantom went missing around the same time means he was the one who killed them. Jazz knows Danny was Phantom but had no idea what was going on and knew her parents wouldn’t listen she just, kept quiet and privately tried to piece together what happened.
Three years pass and finally it looks like the Ecto War is coming to a close. Young, naive ghosts attempted to raise Pariah Dark in a bid to win. It went disastrously but Phantom (who was periodically spotted around the world, deep in the worst battles of the war) and group of loyal allies subdued the king. By the law of ghosts, Phantom was named heir apparent and he declared that the fighting would stop. Humans and ghosts would have to negotiate and co-exist in peace. But he’s not king yet, no he needs to be crowned at the place where it began, Amity Park’s Fenton portal (”where it all began” has a double meaning of the beginning of the war but also symbolically where Phantom began as Kings assume the crown where their living life ended to show their abandonment of their first life and the commitment to their second). Amity is NOT happy to hear that their former hero is coming home.
Amity has been through the wringer, ghost attacks got pretty bad. The Fenton’s throw themselves into their work to cancel out the grief, they create a group of ghost hunters nicknamed the Reds (for their red blood, ghosts are nicknamed Greens) to control the threat. Valerie heads the young adult division and is considered one of the best, she drops out of school to devote herself to it full time. Oh also her dad is now the Mayor as most have died or didn’t want the job. There are still people who like Phantom and see him as a hero (a lot of Casper Kids) but it’s generally an unpopular opinion in town. Maddie and Jack are ready to obliterate the ghost that took their son’s life the moment he’s within city limits. It’s a powder keg ready to blow. It all comes to a head when Phantom and his entourage arrive.
First off, Phantom looks very different, much less human looking than when he left. He’s clearly aged like a normal teen but his eyes look much, much older.  His skin is dead white with a blue tinge to it from his ice core and his aura is super cold. His hair is longer and is very misty that kind of swirls around him and his has fangs and claws. When he’s deep in battle or his obsession, his sclera turn black and he looks scary af. His entourage is ghosts who have sworn loyalty to him, who he picked up along the way after battling beside them for 3 years. Fright Knight, Skulker and Frostbite are recognizable allies. They are not happy that their future King is back in Amity (secretly fearing they’ll lose him once more to his human life). J&M have a shot and are going for the kill when they see something that shocks them; Sam and Tucker are in Phantom’s entourage.
There had been whispers that Phantom interacted with humans, that humans were in his inner circle but this is something else together. And so are Sam and Tucker. Sam is Phantom’s General, she is talented and collected and half feral. She used to be a pacifist but the trials of war and understanding that peace sometimes needs to be fought for made her compromise. She’s covered in scars and an extremely talented fighter. She’s missing her right hand up to her forearm, she can form a ‘phantom limb’ (basically borrowing ectoplasm from her future ghost) to do some things with some powers. Tucker is the support, he uses human and ghost tech to organize, weaponize and generally keep things running. He’s covered in homemade tech (shields and weapons and computers) and he rarely removes. Both he and Sam have kinda forgotten how to interact with and really BE human after so long among the dead. They had attempted to conceal themselves but they had forgotten how strong parental love and recognition is. J&M want to know about Danny, the teens don’t know how to respond but assure them he’s alive. Phantom can’t bring himself to look at them.
This is where I start to lose track of things but there will be parallels of Valerie/Maddie vs Sam as female warriors on opposite sides who are willing to go behind, possibly compromising the things important to them, for victory. Tucker will be contrasted against Jack/Jazz as the one making weapons but also generally keeping the human parts of the team mentally/physically afloat. *Severe* PTSD for all three of them. They’re also unnaturally codependent on each other, get super anxious when one of the trio is out of sight and sleep in a big cuddle pile. They will fucking Kill You if you look at one of them wrong. Vlad will be involved, he had been jailed for war crimes but convinced Walker to stage a coup to overthrow Danny and take the crown before he’s actually declared King and is too powerful. Vlad is more unhinged here, more ghost than human (a hint on what could happen to Danny if he’s not careful). He is eventually defeated but he sacrifices his life for ghost power which, in the end, is what makes him able to be beaten.
There’s lots of ideas on what it means to be live or dead and where the divide really is, is it a heartbeat or it is how you choose to use your existence. On how duty shouldn’t mean you need to give up everything. Because Jack and Maddie believe that Phantom killed their son and, in a way, they’re right. Before they left, the ghost war had gotten so bad and the rumors of Dark being resurrected were going around. Amity attacks were at an all time high, people in their school were being killed just because Danny went there. He realized he had to choose between Fenton or Phantom and he chose to protect the world. He abandoned his human identity and went off to fight in war. Tried to convince Sam and Tucker to stay but they followed him through hell and back. Because Danny spends so much time as Phantom, Fenton is severely neglected. His long hair is cool and floaty as Phantom but is unkempt and stringy, hanging in his face as Fenton. He’s wan and underweight and looks like a walking corpse. He knows his human half will give out soon if he doesn’t give it more attention but he just can’t there’s too much to do, too many people to save.
It would end with Danny being outed to the town, not the world, just the town. Jack and Maddie need to recon with the fact that their boy DID leave of his own choice but only because their failure to protect him (from both the portal and ghosts) made him feel he had to take all this responsibility on his shoulders. Danny also has to recognize that he (and Sam/Tuck) can’t do all this on their own and they can trust and rely on the people around him. Phantom is crowned King but he decides Amity will be his base. The trio eat more, sleep some, catches up on school all the while continuing their duties as King and court. The ghosts also see that Phantom’s humanity isn’t a weakness but a strength and will bring peace to the Earth/Zone so they also take some of the burdens off his shoulder.
Basically I load up heavily with angst at the beginning and end with all the love and comfort imaginable. I just can’t fucking figure out the middle and my motivation will not let me write this shit out. But I can’t let this AU die bc it fucking keeps me up at night.

Double Halfas
Vlad's father drags him along when he goes to see his old college friends turn on their ghost portal.
Things don’t go as planned.
“This is ridiculous.” Vlad crossed his arms over his dark yellow sweater vest. “I can’t believe Dad dragged me down here.”
“Well, it’s been my parent’s life for the past three years, so at least pretend to be interested.” Jazz replied, nudging the thin boy with a particularly sharp elbow.
“Just shows they don’t have anything worthwhile to do- ow!” Another elbow, this time from Sam.
“I think it’s kinda cool, so shut it, Vladdy-pants.”
“Call me that again, why don’t you-”
“Kids!” Mr. Masters threw a scathing look at the teens, and all of them except Sam straightened up. “Jack and Maddie are going to plug it in.”
"Are you prepared to gaze into a world beyond our own, full of goblins, spooks, and ectoplasmic demons?" Maddie said in a spooky voice, while Jack waggled his fingers and made an 'OOooOOOO~!' sound.
"Uh-huh," mumbled all of the teens in unison. Danny tugged at his shirt.
"Is it dangerous to be this close?"
"Good question, sweetie! The energy should be contained within the magnetic field coming from the reinforced beams holding it open, so we'll be perfectly safe." Maddie ruffled his hair, before turning to Jack and nodding.
"Ghost Zone, here we come!" He held up both ends of the plug and grinned at the rest of the room before slamming them together-
-And getting nothing except for a few sparks from the force of the blow.
"Huh?" Confused, he pulled the plug apart again, and clicked it back together.
Nothing.
Maddie grabbed the plug "What on Earth... our calculations were right this time! We fixed the problems from the proto-portal that ended up in space..."
"Are you sure it's entirely plugged in?"
"I checked three times, Alex!" Maddie said to Vlad's father, frazzled, as she ran a hand through her hair. She headed for the stairs. "Let me look over the calculations again... Jack, did you leave the notebook at the library?"
Jack, Alex, and Jazz followed her, and that left Vlad, Tucker, Sam, and Danny in the lab alone.
"I told you it wouldn't work."
"Man, though, it would have been interesting to see... how did your mom put it?" Tucker asked.
"Goblins, spooks, and ectoplasmic demons?" Danny arched up into his toes, baring his teeth at Tucker in an eerie grin.
"...On second thought..."
"It's not like they even exist." Vlad scoffed. "The prototype when they made in college just opened to the vaccum of space."
"Try telling that to my parents." Danny sighed.
"Hey, Vlad. If you're so sure that nothing can happen, go in." Sam nudged his shoulder.
"I have nothing to prove-"
"Come on, at least take a look." Danny said. "My parents haven't let me near it. Besides, I did always sort of wonder if there was something super cool on the other side of this portal." Danny started tugging on a white and black hazmat suit, and Tucker waved a green one in front of Vlad.
"What, are you chicken?" Sam grinned. "Danny's doing it."
"Danny is- oh, fine." Vlad rolled his eyes, but zipped up the green suit, fluffing up his ponytail after he pulled the zipper up to his chin.
They both walked in at the same time. Danny examined the left half, while Vlad ran his fingers along the right wall.
"If nothing, it does look really impressive." He admitted.
"So, you admit my parents aren't-" Danny started with a smirk, leaning his hand against the wall, but before he could finish his sentence, his palm clicked something and everything split into pure agony.
Electricity arched Danny's back, and an unending scream forced past his lips. Faintly, he could hear Vlad screeching in pain, and he could just barely make out a bent-over figure with green flames licking around it.
Everything hurt, everything hurt so much, he reached out and managed to brush against the figure's back, and as he collapsed he grabbed it's hand- his, it was a him but for the life of him he couldn't remember the name.
Danny stretched out his free hand and was  dragged from shocking pain to burning nothingness, and then he saw black as he felt nothing at all.
____________
"Danny? Danny! Danny, please wake up, oh god, Danny, DANNY!"
"Come on dude, wake up, wake up, wake up wake up wake up wakeupwakeup-"
"Gah!" Danny shot up, setting a hand to his head. "Holy crap, what happened? What's going on? What-"
His glove was white.
So was, for that matter, the messy hair half-floating in front of his face.
"What the hell...?"
"Uh, Danny..." Sam's skin was even paler than usual. "Look down."
The first thing that Danny noticed was that the suit was mainly black, not white like it usually was.
The second, and probably more important thing, was that he was glowing.
“Yah!”
“Five more minutes…” Three heads whirled around to stare at the other boy that had gone into the portal. Vlad was in similar shape to Danny- he was glowing a faint white, and his hazmat suit had seemingly inverted, from light green to deep blue with black gloves and boots instead of white.
One difference, though, was that his hair wasn’t snowy white like Danny’s- it was a pale cream, and flickered like a dying campfire.
“Vlad…” Danny scooted over on his knees, then reached out a hand, biting his lip. His heart would be racing, but he couldn’t feel it at all. There was only a steady pulse that was far too slow, and seemed timed to the gentle eb of the glow around him.
Setting a hand on Vlad’s shoulder, he shook him- or at least, he tried, seeing as his hand disappeared into Vlad's body. He yanked it out and tried again, more frantic this time. “Vlad, wake up!”
“I said five more- huh?” Vlad’s fingers twitched against the tile and his eyes blinked open.
His irises were deep red.
“Woah.” Danny turned his head. “Do mine look like that?”
“Nah, yours are green.” Tucker waved a hand in the general direction of his own face, but he swallowed. “They’re glowing, though.”
“This isn’t real. This can’t be real, I’m just dreaming, no way.” Danny squeezed his eyes shut.
“What can’t be real?” Behind him, Vlad rubbed his eyes. “Where am I?”
“You’re in the Fenton’s basement, and you both accidentally turned on their ghost portal.” Tucker helpfully supplied. “And I think it turned you two into ghosts.”
“What?” At that, Vlad flew up, grabbing Tucker by the collar with wide eyes. “I’m not- that can’t be- ghosts don’t exist!”
“All evidence to the contrary.” Sam said, and Vlad glared at her. “What? I’m as freaked out as you guys are, but I’m trying to lighten the mood.”
“Not doing a very good job, Sam.” Danny muttered, grabbing a particularly shiny gun and trying to figure out his reflection from the circular distortion.
“Your parents are the ghost freaks, this is your fault!” Vlad turned to Danny, who just took a step back, his foot sinking into the tile.
“Uh, Vlad?”
“I can’t believe this! I had to take off of school to visit your stupid family in the middle of stupid Amity Park, and now I’m never going to graduate or go to college or become a billionaire-”
“Vlad!”
“What?” He snapped, and Danny pointed at his feet.
“You’re floating.”
Vlad stared down, and his eyes widened as he started pinwheeling his arms and legs. “Yaaaaah!”
“Woah, neat!” Tucker took a step closer, but Vlad jumped up higher.
“Don’t touch me!”
“So we can fly?” Danny closed his eyes and leapt into the air, only to fall flat on his face. “Oh, come on, that’s not-”
“Pfffft- oh my god, your face is-” Vlad started, before dark black rings appeared around his waist. “Huh?” The rings split in two, traveling up and down his body, and suddenly he wasn’t glowing, with his old hair and clothes back.
He was also ten feet in the air, and Tucker scrambled forward to catch him before he hit the ground. “Whoof! Man, lay off the dairy.”
“I’m… normal again?” Vlad stared at his hands for a moment, before jumping out of Tucker’s arms. “I said don’t touch me!”
“Geez, rude.” Tuck mumbled, before running over to Danny. “Wait, if he can do it-”
“-You probably can too!” Sam finished. “Just think about… I dunno, your blood? Warm skin? A heartbeat?”
“That sounds like a serial killer.”
“Shut up, Tuck.”
Danny squeezed his eyes shut, and felt Sam’s thin hand rest on top of his. “You can do it.”
“Okay. Here goes nothing.” Danny held up his hands, trying to think of himself in the mirror. Black haired, blue-eyed, pale Danny Fenton.
A flash of white light burst across his closed lids, and when he opened them, he was in the old white hazmat suit.
Sam immediately grabbed him in a tight hug. “It worked!”
“Woah.” Suddenly he was keenly aware of his heartbeat and the rush of blood in his ears. He rested his chin on Sam’s shoulder for a moment before pulling away and unzipping the hazmat. It felt suffocating.
“Danny, are you all right?” Danny barely had time to react before he was smothered in blue, his mother wrenching him upand pulling him into another tight embrace. “Tucker texted us, said that there was some kind of accident, and- and-” Her grip loosened as her eyes widened. “The portal…”
“We…” Danny trailed off.
“We figured out how to turn it on. You installed the power switch on the inside.” Vlad crossed his arms. He, too, had taken off his protective suit.
“Oh heavens, it was that easy?”
Danny opened his mouth to tell her everything, when his hand brushed one of the guns.
His parents didn’t just study ghosts, they wanted to hunt them.
Ghosts. Like he now was.
“Yeah, w-we unplugged it, turned it on, then plugged it back in.” Danny said. Both Sam and Tucker gave him funny looks, and Tucker mouthed ‘what are you-’ before glancing at the lab table full of weapons. ‘Oh.’
“Great job, sweetie!” Maddie placed a kiss on Danny’s forehead. “But, Tucker said there was an accident… are you all right?”
“I tripped and my hand fell into the portal. I was kinda screaming out of shock, it doesn’t really hurt that bad.” Danny held up his left hand as proof, but Maddie grabbed it.
“Danny, it looks awful!”
“Huh?” He craned his neck, and was shocked to see electrical burn lines extend out from a circle in the palm. “Oh, wow, that-”
“I’m calling the hospital.”
“R-really, Mom, I’m fine.”
“Daniel Fenton, we are getting that looked at. Your father will take you, and I’ll check to make sure the portal is stable.” She pointed upstairs. “Vlad, your father is here too, he can decide what to do with you.”
“Yes M’am.” Vlad nodded, but Danny couldn’t help but notice that he was floating half an inch off the ground again.
Danny had an itching feeling this was the beginning of something big.
