I love how everyone (Jaime, Sansa, Blackfish) refuse to listen to Brienne at first. And then when they finally let her speak she's just so perfectly, obliteratingly honourable they're struck speechless

I cannot believe Jaime studied law in GOTHAM bro picked the MOST crime-ridden city to study LAW in
Like can you imagine the case studies
“How would you prosecute Joker’s newest scheme?”
“Is this a federal or a state offense?”
“Please give me a fifty page minimum assessment on the functionality of Arkham Asylum.”
“You are defending a case and the Riddler decides to make the courthouse into an escape room. What do you do?”
Like the concept is SO funny to me

Thinking about these tags from @wazzappp and how fucked up 'fixing' the whole combined breathing/eating tube could get...
First idea: just dedicate the nose for breathing and mouth for eating and separate the trachea and esophagus completely! Of course then issues arise with speech because while the larynx is in the trachea, a lot of speech also comes from shaping sound in the mouth. If the trachea ends in the nose only that's not possible. So options would be a 'tongue' analog in the post nasal space to manipulate sounds, more vocal cords in the post nasal space, something like a bird's syrinx (how some birds sing/speak) in either the post nasal space or in the chest.
Second idea: Snake esophagus! A snake's esophagus extends into its mouth so it can keep breathing while it swallows whole prey. Of course, Jaime doesn't really swallow his prey whole, but now he can! Also avoids the issue with the first idea where the trachea and esophagus have to change places (trachea is normally in front, but if it only connects to the nose it would make more sense if it were behind the esophagus). I think this would be less likely to affect speech? But also I need to figure out how snake noses work? They have nostrils but smell with their tongues, so do the nostrils open directly to the mouth? Would this mean that Jaime would breathe through his nose, into his mouth, and then down his trachea 🤔🤔🤔
Unrelated to the combination breathing and eating orifice thing, Khaji deffo beefs up the spine first, it's where they live after all!!! Jaime can't complain too much, it's not too noticeable unless his shirt is off (and that's not new, what with the scarab chilling there already). Kinda paves the way for other, more drastic changes.

Something about Milagro having her dad’s jacket and Jaime having his necklace. Something about their mom handing each of them these pieces of her husband, pressing them into her children’s hands with teary eyes and letting them cling to these pieces of Alberto. Rocio giving these parts of Alberto away to his children who he has watched grow, so that he can stay with them always.

Ahem. I just found out about the Tarth triplets.
TARTH
TRIPLETS
GRRM wants me dead.
--- During the early reign of King Aegon the Conqueror, the wife of the Evestar of Tarth gave birth to triplets daughters. And Queen Rhaenys herself, before dying the worst of deaths in Dorne, found it merry to arrange betrothals for the girls with members of Houses Corbray (Lady Forlorn), Hightower (Vigilance), and Harlaw (no ancestral sword mentioned in the books but if I know Rhaenys...) ---

i wish jaime’s arc was never this heavily associated with the word redemption bc every single discussion about him revolves around that word and the baggage people have with it. i know george repeatedly used it when it concerns him, but i obv do not think that means his arc is as simple as going from bad to good in a linear fashion. but it is about transformation imo. if it was just about a perspective shift/recontextualization then why would george make him lose the thing that defined him in every way and allowed him to detach himself from everything? it is also not an elaborate trick and a subversion of “redemption arcs”, that is also a reductive and cynical read of it to me. his nuances are never discussed beyond “bad guy is good guy now” or “guy is tricking u he is still stagnant.” imo his motivations evolve, his relationship with the self evolves, his relationship with abstract concepts he craves such as honor, love & knighthood evolves, he evolves: he is one of the characters that is in constant motion, he is always on a journey, he is rarely at a standstill after he leaves the dungeon in acok. it makes me so sad that nothing new is said about him atp other than fandom going in circles about this one word, especially bc i think he is at a key transitional point again right now. i think his arc is about tearing down the “brave golden knight” image in every way until you are left with nothing but harsh reality and a broken cripple. it is tearing apart facades & personas. and then it is the story of what one can make of oneself then. it is about grueling moral dilemmas and the making of choices. and then finally it is about the idea of confrontation for someone who has always been incredibly afraid of it and repeatedly chose to run away inside instead. george deliberately made it so he can no longer do that. that must lead somewhere.

I think what's so frustrating about the ending of Game of Thrones, even 4 years later, is that I could see those disappointing character endings actually working if they had been written properly.
Jaime could have gone back to Cersei in a way that made sense, if we'd had multiple scenes where he struggles to convince himself that he can be a good person and fails because of his trauma and codependency. He hates himself so much he can't possibly believe that he deserves someone as good as Brienne. Instead we have him say "oops, I'm a bad person all along!" after 5 seconds of introspection and ride off on a horse.
I'd also take out the "I never cared about innocents" line unless there was a way to make it really clear he didn't mean it and was saying it out of bitterness. Otherwise it's non sensical and erases his most pivotal scene where he confesses to Brienne how and why he killed the Mad King.
Daenerys could have had a mental breakdown in a way that makes sense if we'd seen her unravelling more. All we got was her staring off into the distance and looking slightly dishevelled while Tyrion told her Varys had betrayed her. I wanted to see her pacing while she was alone and looking devastated. Cold, icy looks don't tell us anything about her state of mind, because she always had a ruthless side, but was in complete control of her mental faculties. Hiding her emotions for a shock and awe "twist" doesn't make it a good twist because there were hardly any breadcrumbs, even subtle ones. It could have worked (if it was well written) because the freedom fighter to tyrant pipeline is something that has happened historically in the real world. A good twist is Jon Snow being revealed to be Lyanna and Rheagar's son, because there were chekovs and groundwork to follow. Dany's "twist" was just bad writing.
Bran could have become king in a way that made sense if they'd stuck more to the Bloodraven storyline in the books. i.e. that Bloodraven (A Targaryen bastard that went missing beyond the wall and became the Three Eyed Crow decades before Bran shows up) is secretly trying to install himself on the Iron Throne, and yes there's peace in the realm but it still feels sinister because there's a Targaryen on the iron throne in the end after all, but in a Stark's body. Instead we got a half hearted speech about stories and Tyrion calling him "Bran the Broken" which I personally would have smacked him for. (Also still think it was a mistake to leave out Commander Mormont's Raven in the show. I loved the creepy things the bird occassionally said and I'm fully on board with the theory that Bloodraven is speaking through the bird.)
”King,” croaked the raven. The bird flapped across the solar to land on Mormont’s shoulder. “King,” it said again, strutting back and forth. “He likes that word,” Jon said, smiling. “An easy word to say. An easy word to like.” “King,” the bird said again. “He rose and dressed in darkness, as Mormont’s raven muttered across the room. “Corn,” the bird said, and, “King,” and, “Snow, Jon Snow, Jon Snow.” That was queer. The bird had never said his full name before, as best Jon could recall.“

So much character development was avoided because of the time devoted to cartoonish battles you could barely see. Battles which will likely be only a few pages in the future books, as all the others are in the currently published ones.

there is no straight pairing that I go crazy for more than Jaime/Brienne from Game of Thrones. They are knights fighting for what they value. They challenge each other’s world to become more complicated and rich. They see themselves in each other and see who they want to be. They do not think they could be loved selflessly. They love each other selflessly. When there are no more oaths to follow, they choose to value each other. They were enemies, they were friends, they are the person they trust most in the room even when they are at odds. They should have found a home in each other but instead they were ruined. Brienne was left begging for the love that would be truer than the one Jaime chose. She brought hope and kindness back into his world, and he brought possibility into hers, and the writers threw it all away because a happy ending was not allowed in the world they created.

June 9th, prompt: Cowboy Boots
"Come on out, Cas!"
"Do I really have to?"
Cas' grumbled reply was muffled by the closed bathroom door between them.
"What? You sayin' you don't like the gift I got you? Don't be a baby, lemme see!"
The door opened, and out came Cas, visibly grumpy Angel of the Lord, dressed in his usual shirt and pants and- Dean's mouth fucking watered at the sight - a pair of brand new cowboy boots.
"I look ridiculous", Cas stated, squinting down at his feet in affront.
"You look-" Dean swallowed. Hot as Hell.
He could see the moment Cas picked up on the way Dean was staring at him, the tiniest of smiles forming at the corner of the angel's mouth and softening the annoyed crease in his brow.
Cas gave him a fond eye-roll, sighing theatrically.
"The things I do for love", he muttered, making Dean grin.
"Alright, Jaime Lannister." Dean crossed the distance between them, arms circling around Cas' waist. "Whine all you like, but those stay on."

As you might imagine, McIntosh had a difficult time creating a "dirtbag"-boy look on Styles. "I tried to create a lank head of hair on Harry Styles, and I couldn't," McIntosh says. "No matter how much I tried to flatten it down, it just wouldn't do it. It's just so naturally voluminous." Her solution was to create a partial hairpiece that was intentionally thinned on the top, while Thorisdottir's team added a separate scalp piece "just in case we were to see through the hair." "And then later on when he doesn't look like he's cut his hair for two or three years — the long, stringy, nasty head of hair," McIntosh adds with a laugh. "Harry really leaned into it, too. It was a lot of fun for him. I think he hadn't done any kind of character work with hair makeup and stuff before, so that was cool."
