16 fics so far. I am a very slow writer xD

30,688. Which was totally expected, as I write mostly one-shots.

His Dark Materials (5 fics), Miss Scarlet and the Duke (6 fics), 1899 (5 fics). And right now I’m trying to write a couple of short stories inspired by my super dramatic Italian soap opera, but all those fics are still very much NOT finished.

Only now did I manage to realise that all these fics were for the same fandom. Honestly, being a part of MSATD fandom is one of the most heartwarming experiences of my fangirl life <3
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to respond to all comments I receive, because every single comment is a source of happiness to me. I mean, someone read my fic and found time to write what they thought of it, and I am always grateful to everybody who comments on my stories.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably komm, tanz mit mir (1899). I don’t really write a lot of angsty fics. I love reading them, but writing them… not so much xD I am very much a fluff girlie.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think it’s going to be a tie between right next to you, where I belong (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) and in the sea of lovers (1899).
8. Do you get hate on fic?
No, I haven’t gotten any hate so far. I guess I am lucky enough to write for peaceful fandoms haha.
9. Do you write smut?
I did write a couple of smutty scenes, but those are very, very light smut. Heavy smut – no, not my cup of tea.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No, I do not. Can’t say I’ve never been tempted to try… but I suppose the concept is not attractive enough for me.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t – but I remember that several years ago my friend and I planned to write a fic together. Maybe we should come back to that idea. I remember all the research we did, it was fun.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Ooooooooh… this is a cruel question, because I have so many ships, it’s basically an armada haha. Are we talking about an all-time favourite ship to write fics for? Then it would probably be Eliza/William from Miss Scarlet and the Duke. It’s so easy to write both fluff and hurt/comfort for them, they are wonderful. And if we are talking about an all-time favourite ship in general, that would probably be Marguerite/Roxton from The Lost World. They were literally the blueprint for me.
And I would also like to give a special shoutout to Adelaide/Marcello from Il Paradiso delle Signore. I’ve had them for only three months, but it was enough for me to fall head over heels with these two and with their dynamic. Absolutely fantastic, brilliant, legendary. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll write some fics for them, who knows, who knows… They are definitely THE OTP right now.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
All of them? Haha. I have so many WIPs I lost count, and the idea of finishing them scares me.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’d say I’m pretty decent when it comes to writing dialogues. And also I love metaphors and metaphorical language, and it seems to me that I use it pretty well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Describing actions / sequences of actions. I always feel so dumb when I try to figure this out.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Oooh, I love it! I love reading it and writing it. As an aspiring polyglot, I love languages, and using my target languages in my fics is fun. I used a bit of German in my 1899 fics.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Winx Club. I was 11 years old, young, free, and very self-assured, so I truly believed those fics were masterpieces. And right now I look at them, and ummm, they are surely… something xD.

Probably we will be chasing a starlight (His Dark Materials). It was the first fic I ever published on ao3, and it still holds a special place in my heart.

They are so freaking domestic and married and functional the whole time I can’t!!! They bicker and banter with ease of two people who feel secure and confident around each other and know each other’s boundaries and limits and don’t need to worry about offending the other person or the conversation turning antagonistic which allows them this sort of brutal honesty, at times, and frank criticism.
Issei gets the edamame shell husband treatment and he literally can’t believe it Hayame did that to him right in front of his salad when it already helped to ruin her previous relationship. It seems Hayame didn’t understand his lesson about the difference between the edamame shell and skin, well, she was in the middle of confronting her cheating ex so I suppose she was otherwise engaged.
Though, poor Issei doesn’t know the depth of Hayame’s culinary disability until he discovers her special lemon and cereal gyoza! HA! I admire that he doubles down on his criticism and even if he tries to back pedal, he simply can’t make himself lie to her even to please her when it’s so awful.
Unlike her ex-husband, he doesn’t put on a fake smile and swallows it so he wouldn’t hurt Hayame’s feelings but actually tells her it sucks bigly, showing that not only won’t he ever lie to her or keep secrets from her, he won’t feed her white lies to avoid conflict either. You almost never see portrayed in Asian dramas how these little mundane details can lead to a complete failure of a relationship once they pile up. Quite the opposite, they often depict swallowing food that makes you puke as something romantic and a proof of love without giving any thought to the fact whether the person can manage that for the rest of their life, considering it’s suggested most of the OTPs live happily ever after. The issue shows that Hayame and Issei are already more than one step further regarding the growth and functionality of their relationship than she ever came with Masahiro, illustrating their suitability. It’s not about a relationship being conflict-free, it’s about confronting the problems, argue about them even though it’s exhausting and uncomfortable and solve them through communication and misucommunication, not about hushing the issues up and staying silent about them in order to avoid arguments.
The drama might be called Promise Cinderella but it has been turning the Cinderella stereotypes on their head since episode 1. One of them is Hayame not fitting the bill of a girl who is amazing at cooking, sewing, reading, embroidering, polite conversation, dancing and generally being more princess-like than all the princesses and noblewomen, even though her mother died in her childhood and she couldn’t have taught her all those things, neither could her father, nor the mice or the other animals she spent all her whole time with. Let’s face it, Cinderella has always been the fairytale counterpart of Richardson’s Pamela and Hayame - divorced, almost thirty, penniless and jobless - is the modern real-life version of an orphaned abused virgin fallen on hard times.
On the other hand, while Hayame might share Cinderella’s origin story of her mother dying at an early age, this sad event tragically affects her whole life in a much more realistic and darker way. Her father falls into a depression and becomes neglectful and she has to grow up overnight, having to learn everything by herself as she is left with no one to teach her, guide her and defend her so she ends up turning into a fiercely independent tomboy who is a self-taught cook and, as such, her cooking, well, sucks. She is literally the farthest thing from a Mary Sue ever.
Then, Issei may be a modern version of a prince but while young, he has been taught since an early age and has a very unconventional unique upbringing in a modern world - he is the one who excels at cooking (because he had someone who actually taught him), can tie kimonos, knows the proper etiquette, can arrange flowers and knows their language and meaning.
You would expect all those things from a woman, not a man; however, he is not only educated and good at them, he has a natural talent for them. In this way, the drama re-invents the Cinderella story, gives it a new original meaning and a breath of fresh air.
Thus, you can see all these details in which Hayame’s relationship with Issei differs from her marriage - they are left to live together alone in what is basically a simulated marriage, but she doesn’t end up in the traditional role of a woman and housewife whose purpose is to provide dinner/food for her husband who comes back from work. She used to work back then, too, even if only part time. Now, it’s her who works full-time while Issei works part-time but despite it they share the cooking and he, fittingly, ends up being the better cook, completely changing up the dynamic of the traditional roles both in the original fairytale and male/female relationships in general.
Except for a brief denial stage caused by his confused feelings, Issei has always been honest with Hayame, sometimes brutally so, be it regarding the major issues or mundane everyday things like her cooking skills.
He treats her the way she wants her to treat him, and, as a result, he rightfully expects the same honesty and consideration in return from her. He doesn’t want any lies or secrets between them, he wants a conversation not a deafening silence, regardless whether they are lovers or friends.
He wants honesty and equality and instead, Hayame is trying to dismiss him as a child again in an attempt to avoid the problem because it’s uncomfortable and she doesn’t want to have a messy argument or worry him. She should have known by now that that’s exactly the attitude which led to the failure of her marriage. Not that they are an excuse or justification for cheating, but Masahiro raised some good points about the things he disliked about her and it’s time Hayame learns from her past mistakes.
Marriage/romantic relationship is not a one-person show, the point of it being you are not alone to deal with your problems, some burdens should be shared and if not, the other person feels left out because their partner keeps secrets from them which then leaves many opportunities for misunderstandings and creates a rift that keeps growing between the couple. Hayame’s greatest strengths - her self-reliance and independence - which allowed her to survive on her own so far become her greatest weaknesses and drag her down now.
Issei immediately realizes Hayame has been putting a mask around him, trying to make herself look cheerful and happy, he can see through it right away as she can never fool him because he knows her so well and, frankly, she couldn’t pretend even if her life depended on it just like him. She fails to notice that this sort of consideration and selflessness are a double-edged sword.
It’s both apt and ironic she tries to dismiss him as a child because her stubborness, discomfort and avoidance maker HER appear like a child and Issei the one 10 years older with his patience, calm and and persistence on discussing and solving the whole issue. This time it’s him who calls her out on her bullshit and childishness.
Issei notices everything about Hayame, including her mood swings which also refer to the mixed signals she’s been sending him, and how could he not when he always watches her so searchingly as if he were trying to look inside her soul, trying to spot every quiver of her lashes and nervous press of her lips.
Thus, he can sense and predict what she plans to do because he can read her like an open book after watching her so closely for so long but also because he’s been there where Hayame is right now - he had been running away for the past 10 years before he met her and she saved him by making him realize he had been fucking up his life that way, therfore he gets angry seeing her repeating his mistakes.
Moreover, he is scared shitless he may one day wake up and end up like Seigo, abandoned by her, not even left with a direction where to look at her, because she thinks she is not good enough and fears she might drag him down and mess up his life.
Despite it all, Issei doesn’t think about himself first, he thinks about Hayame and what it is she truly wants. She feels so lost and conflicted, fretting and completely panicking and he pretty much tells her ‘fuck the world and other people! You are the only person who matters! Think about yourself first and do what you truly wish to do even if it makes them hate you.’ And from the hopeful way she looks at him, it’s exactly what she needs to hear and wants to truly do but lacks the courage to go through with it just yet.

The Fine Line
Chapter Two
Hello! So this is my first chapter fic. It’s a Newt's and Brendresa fic (I’m hoping to write a Kitty one soon, sorry for my neglect to the TDA fandom recently) so um yeah I hope you like it
Sorry for any misspellings/grammar errors I did proofread, but I’m super inattentive so I probably missed stuff.
WARNING: Major Spoilers for The Death Cure
Story Summary: Newt and Teresa both survive the destruction of the last city and are brought to the safe haven with all their friends. Newt is welcomed back with open arms, and most people learn to forgive Teresa, all but the one person she wants to forgive her the most. Oblivious!Newtmas and Enemies-to-lovers!Brendresa. Minho and Sonya are sick of their friend’s being stupid. A little bit of Soniet and Mingally because I’m weak for them. Sonya and Minho are an unexpected Brotp I now can’t live without. Might actually be even more chaotic than my last fic. Combining movie and book logic because I feel like it. Pining because I said so. I might make a playlist for this fic because I like playlists.
Chapter Summary: both Teresa and Newt unexpectedly wake up in the safe haven, and Minho and Sonya don’t even give them time to catch their breaths because they’ve spotted their OTP’s and they won’t stop until they get them together.
Chapter One: Fine Line Between Love and Hate
Part One: Teresa’s POV
Teresa used to think she knew everything. She’d been told so by many people. Those same people fed her so many lies, but it took her long to figure out that was one of them, maybe because that was the only lie she’d ever truly believed down deep in her heart. Thomas used to say she knew everything too, and maybe once he stopped believing that she did too. No matter the cause, she now knew that there were a lot of things she didn’t know, but she did know this one thing:
She was supposed to be dead.
The last thing she remembered were the walls of her lab in the last city coming down on her. She saw a large chunk of concrete hit Janson right in the face right before she hit her head on the floor and blacked out . She could assume the rest of the building went down shortly after that. That was the end of her life, right?
So you could imagine her confusion when she woke up in a cot, not in hell.
“Great, you’re alive,” A sarcastic voice said from beside her bed. She’d recognize that voice anywhere, it had plagued her dreams and nightmares for months in the last city, for reasons Teresa didn’t understand. But now the voice was more than just a nightmare. She’d assume she’d actually woken up in hell, but the person who spoke hadn’t died and sure as heck would not have ended up in hell. They were everything Teresa could not be, and for the longest time Teresa had hated them for it.
“Brenda,” Teresa gasped. She sat up, pushing the blankets off herself and swinging her legs over the bed. As soon as she lifted her head off the pillow she regretted it, her head pounding. Brenda sat on a stool next to the bed, her legs crossed, looking bored. Teresa must have flinched from the pain or something since Brenda threw her an ice pack.
“Concussion, you hit your head pretty badly back in the last city. When Minho and I got you out of there we thought you might be already dead. The medic’s say you’ll make a full recovery, you’ve just got to take it easy for a few weeks,” Brenda explained. Brenda looked different since the last time she’d seen her. She’d cut her hair again, not as short as she had it when the two first met, but shorter than it was when Brenda and all of Teresa’s former friends kidnapped her and forced her to tell them how to get into WICKED’s headquarters.
Brenda being alive was good. Brenda being alive meant that she made it out of WICKED headquarters, which meant at least a few others had to have. A wave of grief suddenly hit Teresa, not for Brenda but for Newt. Thomas never came before the building came down on her. Maybe they could have made another cure for their friend once they got out of the city and to wherever they were now, but Teresa remembers how Newt was the last time she saw him. He had an hour left in him, that’s if they were lucky. There’s no way he could have made it wherever they were without cranking out, and Newt would have never allowed himself to get that far, to get that close to hurting his friends.
One way or another, Newt was dead. Another person’s blood on Teresa’s hands, someone Teresa long ago considered to be one of her best friends. And he died hating her, and she'd given him every right too.
“Can you explain to me what happened?” Teresa asked once she could make herself speak again.
“You came over the speaker and gave a whole thousand word speech on how Thomas could save Newt. When we got to Newt with the serum Thomas had knocked him out to keep him alive. We gave him the serum and Thomas told us to go get you and the cure, so we did, but the building kind of fell apart. We got out just in time, we found you clutching the cure,” Brenda explained. Teresa exhaled, Newt made it. She didn’t have to add his name to the long list of those she killed. “I suggested we kill you, we got what we needed from you and someone else could recreate the cure. You can thank Thomas for being alive, he insisted we didn’t do anything to you. He was even hesitant about letting me take my shift watching over you, I guess he thought I’d strangle you in your sleep or something.”
“Where is he? Thomas?” Teresa asked.
“With Newt, we haven’t been able to peel him away from him since we got back.” Teresa couldn’t hide her grin, she always knew there was something going on between Newt and Thomas, even before the maze. She and Minho used to bet on them as children, betting their pudding cups on if they’d walk into a room holding hands or something like that.

“I’m sorry Brenda, I really am. I know you have no reason to believe me, but I’ll do anything to prove it. I hurt you all, and you should hate me for the rest of eternity, but I really wanted to be your friend at one point. I still do.” Brenda stood up.
“Save it for someone who cares Teresa, ‘cause I sure don’t. I never liked you.” Brenda began to walk about of the shack they were in. Teresa didn’t know why the words hurt so much, she’d never liked Brenda either. They did though. Brenda turned around in the doorway. “I’ll let the others know you’re awake though, they’ve been worried, even if they won’t admit it.”
Part Two: Thomas’s POV
Thomas was half asleep when he heard Newt mutter something. He sat right up in his chair next to Newt, waiting. It had been over two weeks since they’d gotten back from the last city, and both Newt and Teresa hadn’t woke up.
“Tommy,” Newt mumbled.
“I’m right here Newt, it’s me,” Thomas said, leaning in closer. He felt guilty about it, but he hadn’t even gone to visit Teresa, wanting to be there when Newt woke up.
After a minute Newt’s eyes opened, and they were clear. The black veins had faded from his body shortly after they injected the cure into Thomas, but he hadn’t opened his eyes since then so Thomas saw the insane look in them every time he closed his eyes.
“Oh my god Newt, you’re alive,” Thomas threw is arms around his friend, pulling him into a tight hug, afraid to let go. Newt laughed in Thomas’s embrace.
“Still a bit confused on that part, care to explain how?” Newt said. A wave of relief hit Thomas again. He didn’t know what he would’ve done if Newt died, he couldn’t make it in a world without his best friend.
“Teresa,” Thomas said. “Teresa made a cure. It was my blood the whole time, she just figured it out first.” Thomas sighed. “I feel like an idiot Newt, I could have spared you all that pain the whole time.”
“Oh shut up you twat,” Newt said. “I would’ve died long before the flare without you. You save me every day just by being there. You-”
“Thomas!” Minho called, interrupting Newt’s statement which Thomas really wanted to hear the end of. “Teresa’s awake and looking for you.” Minho came into the tent.
“Good to see you too,” Newt said, rolling his eyes sarcastically and grinning fondly. Minho gasped and hugged Newt tightly.
“I was so worried,’ Minho said. “Don’t you ever scare me like that again you ugly shank.”
“Can’t breathe,” Newt gasped. Minho let go of Newt and laughed.
“Hold on, Gally and Frypan are with Teresa, but there’s one other person who’s been waiting for you to wake up,” Minho said before dashing out the tent. He came back a few minutes later with a familiar blonde girl by his side.
Sonya had explained to them all that when WICKED took her and Aris they’d given their memories back, but she’d never been able to tell Newt she remembered they were siblings before he ran off to follow Thomas.
“Do you remember me?” Sonya asked timidly from the doorway. Newt didn’t respond for a minute, and Sonya’s face fell. “That's a stupid question. You’ve met me after the swipe, you remember me as Sonya, but why would I think you’d remember me as-”
“How could I ever forget you Lizzy?” Newt said, his voice cracking. Tears streamed down Sonya’s face as it lit up and she attacked her brother with a strong embrace. “The flare must have damaged the swipe. I don't remember everything, but I remember some. Enough.” Thomas suddenly became conscious to the fact he was holding Newt’s hand.
“We’ll leave you two to catch up if you’d like,” Thomas offered. Newt squeezed his hand tightly.
“Please don’t go,” Newt said. “I want you to stay.” Thomas knew the words were directed at all of them, but it felt like they were meant just for him. His heart skipped a beat at the thought.
Part Three: Minho’s POV
Minho had always been a guy who was relatively fond of people around him falling in love, but he sure as hell wasn’t fond of people around him being completely oblivious to the fact that they’re in love.
Minho usually had his routine “Newt and Thomas were fools before all this and Thomas is an even bigger fool now because he still hasn’t realized his feelings for Newt” rant with Brenda and/or Gally, but Gally had gone to take his shift accompanying Teresa, who said she still wasn’t ready to face Thomas and Newt, and Brenda had stalked off after telling them Teresa had woken up.
So when Sonya plopped down next to Minho on the log he sat on in front of the bonfire and said, “Can Newt and Thomas just kiss already?” Minho figured she’d have to do.
Minho quickly stole a glance over to where the pair sat laughing on a log with Jorge and Vince. Thomas had his arm around Newt and Newt had his head rested on “Tommy’s” shoulder. When Minho made a comment on it they said “it’s just a bro thing”. Over the past few weeks Minho had sat like that with Gally multiple times, and it was most certainly not a bro thing.
“It’s so annoying isn’t it?” Minho said. “I was trapped in a maze and the scorch with them, I’ve been dealing with it a lot longer than you have.” It would cause Minho to rip out his hair, but his hair was so beautiful he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“Even Aris caught onto it, and it took him to see Harriet and I kiss in front of him five times before he realized we were together back in the maze,” Sonya rolled her eyes.
A brilliant idea came to Minho. Of course, all of his ideas were brilliant, but this one was even more brilliant than the others.
“How about we put an end to this pining?” Minho asked Sonya, grinning wickedly.
“Got anything in mind?” She asked him. Sweet Sonya, sweet innocent Sonya. if only she knew he had not one thing in mind, but multiple things in mind that were all incredibly risky and might cause Vince to banish them all, but they all had the same result: Newt and Thomas getting together.
“I do, but we can’t do it alone. Get Harriet and Aris and I’ll get Gally, Frypan, Teresa, and Brenda and we can all meet at the beach tomorrow after curfew.”
“Should I be scared?”
“Probably, but not that much. I’ve done crazier things, and look at me, I’m still here.”
“Okay then.” Sonya was also grinning like crazy, and Minho knew this was the birth of a beautiful friendship, one built on interfering in other people’s for the better.

8. Who tends to worry the most?
Solas is the worry wart of the pair, specially when it comes to the battlefield.
Elizabeth has the habit of recklessly charging ahead like she's made out of unbreakable steel (being half a spirit of Resilience has a way of making one believe they can withstand the world), and his 4000+ years old heart is never ready when he looks around to find his wife - a mage! - engaged hand-to-hand with an enemy twice her size.
It's not that he believes she can't stand the heat of the battle, she is more than capable of holding her own. But it would be nice sometimes, to let him cast a barrier over her before she headbutts a Red Templar.
13. Who steals the blankets?
Elizabeth is a chronic blanket thief, and Solas just deals with it because he's a fool for her.
"Frostback has absolutely no business being this cold in the middle of the summer!", mumbles the sleepy woman taking up most of the bed before unceremoniously shoving cold toes between Solas' thighs. He wakes up with a gasp, just in time to see the covers being pulled tightly around her - and off his body, by the third time-.
Solas sighs with exasperated affection, hand reaching out for the chair at the bedside and returning with yet another fluffy blanket. The scene is familiar enough that he doesn't even think, the warmth glyph like second nature and seamlessly traced over the sheets.
He goes right back to sleep, basking in the renewed warmth cocooning his body. It's the last of his backup covers, but he there's no worry on his mind as he drifts away, soothed by the soft snoring filling the bedroom.
25. How do they comfort each other when one of them is scared?
Elizabeth answers well to physical touch, so when it comes down to comforting her, Solas spares none of it. Sitting on the floor in front of the hearth and hugging her to his lap while letting her speak about her worries is his to-go way to soothe his wife. Wrapping his arms around her and softly swaying to a hummed song also works in the absence of a hearth/while on the road.
Solas can calmed down by talking. Elizabeth will hold him and talk about her latest endeavors with Sera, the weather, embarrassing tales of her childhood, or the most outrageous gossip she can come up with in the moment. Anything to make him laugh or keep his mind off of what is worrying him. Most of the time it works, but when it doesn't, Solas is still thankful for having her in his arms, her presence grounds him quite a bit.
31. Who is the big spoon and why?
Unless it's very cold and they are on the road, these two don't really spoon to sleep. Elizabeth is really unnerved with the fact that Solas stays dead-still while he Fade wanders. Also, because Elizabeth can't stop fidgeting in her sleep, and Solas can't visit the Fade while he keeps getting kicked by his lover.
But! This doesn't mean that they don't spoon at all! In fact, they are absolute cuddle bugs during waking hours. That said, Solas holds the title of big spoon.
One, because Solas is a beanpole of an elvhen, and Elizabeth is short (she isn't that much taller than Varric, lmao). The logistics of inverting the roles is more work than they are willing to put in.
Two, Solas is very fond of how soft and warm Elizabeth is to hold. She's like a pillow he can curl around and just be content while they speak of anything and everything, or read.
83. Who makes the other smile with almost no effort at all?
Solas, mostly because Elizabeth is easily amused. But his devotion to their relationship and how affectionate he is, always the one with the unexpected - and thoughtful - gifts, his kindness and willingness to understand and help her to adjust to the new world? She's helplessly smitten with the wolf, and her cheeks are getting the workout of a lifetime with how much she's smiling.

26 (How good would your OTP be at parenting?) - i think they’d be pretty good at it, seeing as olivier actually has a son, and gustave gives off Dad Energy

26 (How good would your OTP be at parenting?) - gilles? the perfect father. elias? he’s a little confused, but he’s got the spirit. he has no FUCKING clue what children enjoy or what’s appropriate for a specific age group, so he usually enlists the help of several other operators (none of whom are any good with kids) and together they attempt to care for a child. think lunchables, mcdonald’s, and ice cream as every meal and staying up until ungodly hours. gilles is off to the side, watching amusedly and making sure nobody is ever in any serious danger. elias may be clueless, but he’s not completely incompetent, and the kid has a great time, always pestering their parents about when they can visit uncle elias again

Unsure where this one fits in the timeline, but it’s post-nmj’s death and probably post discovery of jgy’s crime?
Yunmeng Jiang was the one hosting the discussion conference that year, and while Jiang Wanyin did his best to be a good host, it simply did not come naturally to him. No amount of effort could hide the fact that, on the whole, he simply did not like most of his guests. Even those he did not despise, like Lan Xichen or Nie Huaisang, were always at risk of being snapped at.
The only reason people let him continue hosting conferences on occasions was because it would have been insulting his status to refuse him the honour… and because most sect leaders enjoyed the food and alcohol from Yunmeng. Good wine went a long way in making Jiang Wanyin a little more likeable.
For Lan Xichen, the food and drink that delighted others were just another reason he struggled to enjoy his time in Yunmeng. Even toned down for foreign palates, the local cuisine was more intensely seasoned than what he was used to. Although his cultivation level allowed him to go with little or not food for a while, he still had to give the appearance that he was enjoying his meals lest he insult his host and that was painful, but he did his best.
Sitting next to him, Nie Huaisang was having the time of his life, tasting everything that he could, grinning in delight every time he found a dish strong enough to make him cry. He was enjoying the food so much that he barely even drank any wine, even though the discussions of the day had been particularly dull. It was nice to see him having fun at such a gathering without first needing to get drunk, but Lan Xichen was starting to reconsider his former plans to try and slip into his lover’s room to spend the night with him. He did not know if he’d taste all those spices while kissing Nie Huaisang, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to take the risk.
“Zewu-Jun should try some of this,” Nie Huaisang said after noticing how little Lan Xichen was eating. “This dish is very good!”
“I’ve had my fill, thank you.”
That was the wrong answer. A mischievous light glinted in Nie Huaisang’s eyes, one that usually showed only when they were in private, or when he’d had too much wine.
“Zewu-Jun, are you scared of trying new food?”
Nie Huaisang’s tone was a little too teasing for a very public banquet, but when Lan Xichen glanced around, he found that nobody was paying them any attention.
“I am not unwilling to try something new in general,” he replied. “But right now I am not very hungry anymore.”
“You don’t need to be hungry to have a taste,” Nie Huaisang countered, sounding more delighted with every passing second. Maybe he had been drinking more than he should have and Lan Xichen just hadn’t noticed. “Just a little bit, I know you will like it.”
“How spicy is it, Huaisang?”
“Not at all.”
Lan Xichen’s eyebrows rose in disbelief. Nie Huaisang replied with a beautiful, innocent smile that looked almost perfectly sincere.
“Just try it,” Nie Huaisang begged, too insistent now for there not to be a trick of some sort. “I know you’ll like it. Zewu-Jun, you’re like a child sometimes. What does it cost you to try something new? Ah, but then… I’ll deal with you like I would with a child then. So, here’s an idea: if you try this very delicious, absolutely non-spicy food, I’ll owe you a favour.”
The way he said it, it was obvious what sort of favour Nie Huaisang had in mind. Lan Xichen glanced around once again. Little Jin Ling had escaped his nurse and was now sitting on Jiang Wanyin’s lap and making a mess of his grumpy uncle, which everyone was watching with varying degrees of fascination and worry. Nobody would be paying attention to Nie Huaisang and him.
“What happens if this makes me sick?” Lan Xichen inquired, knowing how his stomach handled certain foods.
“Then I’ll have to stay at your side tomorrow until you get better,” Nie Huaisang chuckled. “It would be my responsibility, and I would have to sacrifice a day of fascinating discussion on borders and watchtowers to ensure that you recover properly. But you needn’t worry, there is no heat to this dish, I promise you.”
Lan Xichen sighed in defeat. He knew he would regret it later when his mouth burned and his stomach rebelled, but he simply wasn’t good at denying Nie Huaisang what he wanted.
His lover watched eagerly as, against his better judgement, Lan Xichen delicately grabbed a piece of vegetable from the offered dish and put it in his mouth.
The texture was pleasant. The taste was plain, with only the barest hint of sweetness to it, and none of the burning heat for which Lan Xichen has steeled himself. He shot a curious look at Nie Huaisang, to find him trying hard not to laugh too loud.
“I told you it wasn’t spicy!” the younger man giggled.
“You did,” Lan Xichen huffed, a little annoyed to have been toyed with in such a manner. “And you said it was good, which is true as well. Are you proud of yourself for fooling me?”
“I have no idea what you mean,” Nie Huaisang chirped, pushing more of that dish toward Lan Xichen before serving himself a portion of something that had made him cry abundantly a little earlier. “It’s not my fault if you do not trust me, Zewu-Jun. Now eat some more. I do owe you a favour, and it would be sad if you couldn’t make the best of it because hunger makes you weak.”
Lan Xichen huffed again, this time in amusement, and had some more of that surprisingly palatable dish. He had been getting quite hungry, and was grateful to Nie Huaisang for finding something he could eat after all.

alrightt, I’m gonna admit I’ve been VERY reluctant about taking about pindorama, for a few reasons, but mostly because it’s really hard to find trustworthy information that isn’t playing into the colonialist narrative that is still very present in our national identity as a whole (if you read a little abt indianismo…. That shit is still very present). And when it’s not that, is all very vague and talking about ~the natives~ as if they were just one big homogeneous group with not much of their own history.
I also don’t want to go too deep into to anything too dark or “angsty”, not to ignore those ugly parts of our history, but because I feel it would be very disrespectful to make those tragedies (which are still being carried out by our government) the center of any hetalia discussion. And well, I might fuck up and end up playing into everything I’m trying to avoid, and if this is in anyway offensive, just let me know and I’ll delete this post and go further educate myself.
This is also gonna be an even longer post than usual (its 3 pages long...), since it’s gonna need a lot of historical explanation even for my fellow Brazilians.
My main source here is chapter 6 of the book “1499: O Brasil Antes de Cabral”, by Reinaldo José Lopes.
Ok, let’s talk about the lady.
First things first, she old. She’s at least 3000 years old, probably older! She grew up in southwest Amazon (around modern Rondônia) with her nine siblings, and while some of them remained there, others started to expand their territories through the forest. All of them also had plenty of children. The way I see it, since there was no sort of political unity between the different tupi tribes, each had their own tan and were the children of ones like Pindorama and her siblings, that represented many different groups that, though politically separated, had strong cultural and linguistic similarities. It’s kinda like I see Mama Greece existing while Sparta, Athens and all those Ancient Greek cities existed too, but in a much larger scale. So Pindorama represents what would eventually be all the tupi and tupi-guarani groups in the coast, and of Pindorama’s children, most of them were also Guarani’s kids.
Pindorama and Guarani expanded to the southeast and the east coast together, always hating each other and fighting but also constantly having children together lol. Sisters? Enemy-lovers? Bitter exes? Frenemies with benefits? All of the above? I don’t know, but these two ladies had children pretty much all around the territory (what I’m referring to here is all the different Tupi-Guarani groups), and if you ask me, they otp.
Pindorama is, first and foremost, a warrior. The tupi were, in general, very belligerent groups, that had war as a major part of their culture, and that was in part what made them expand through such a wide territory even without any kind of centralized state or hierarchy. And they had a very different view of war compared the Europeans – war was not meant to completely eliminate their enemies or as means to access land and resources, but as part of a perpetual cycle of revenge that ennobled ones that participated in it - it was cultural more than material. So Pindorama was just constantly watching her children fight each other and she was like…. Good for Them. She was also constantly fighting someone (usually Guarani lol) and was really, really good at it.
Despite that, she was also inclined to trading and had a lot of good commercial relationships with many others, going as far west as the Andes! She was both a warrior and a businesswoman, so yeah, terrifying. She was a skilled river navigator – not as much as the Aruak, but still pretty good – which also helped both with the expansion and with trade. She’s an extrovert, who can talk in front of a lot of people easily and captivate whoever she met, while also scaring the shit out of them.
So yeah, that’s Pindorama. A warrior, a businesswoman, a mother, a rival-lover, she really did have it all. And when Portugal arrived, she at first assumed he was just another one to trade with – and that was it, for the first few decades. And when Brazil ~appeared~ there (in whatever way nations are born idk), she took him as another one of her many children, no really a surprise here either.
For some time, she raised Brazil, but she soon understood that kid was not like the others. First, he was not just her child or her child with Guarani, but apparently also the child of that dude that would come every once in a while from the sea (again I don’t know how nations know who are their parents or other’s parents since there’s really no biological birth going on…). And as time went by, she also started noticed more and more of her other children dying more and more every time, while Brazil kept growing stronger and healthier every day. She put two and two together – that child and his father were trouble, and not the good kind.
When it comes to her relationship with Brazil, it is complicated, to say the least. She was more present in his childhood that Portugal, she taught him her languages and stories and how to survive in that land, but she also never trusted him, and was hesitant to be around him. As the years passed, she learned it was safer for her and her other children (who are not really Brazil’s siblings btw) to just keep going deep into the forest and avoiding Brazil and Portugal whenever they could, but always fighting back when needed. When it came to the battles, she actually had advantages compared to Portugal at times – gunpowder in the 16th century was pretty shitty, while for example the tupinamba had arrows as long as 1.60m that could pierce through their armor. But fighting meant exposing the people to getting sick, and the moment they realized that, they started avoiding it more. Still, I think its plausible to say she probably tried to kill brazil and Portugal a few times.
As much as I like to joke about brazil having mommy issues, I really don’t want to blame her for being “a bad mom” when she really was just doing what she had to do to survive and resist and to protect her real family against an enemy she couldn’t defeat. Also, Brazil has a great deal of blame here. When he was a kid, it really was just Portugal who pushed Pindorama away and against him, but after independence he really failed to fix things when he had the power to. As I talked about in the last post a little bit, he tried to get close to her again, but not because he wanted to make things right, not because he was ready to listen to her and respect her, but because he wanted an identity for himself that was separated from port, and though he could find it in his mother. But he wasn’t listening to her for a moment or seeing her for who she was, he wasn’t trying to get to know her, it was all about himself (as it always was in the empire).
I think Pindorama, better than anyone, can see how Brazil and Portugal are similar in their worst traits, and she can also see through every single one of brazil’s warm smile in a way no one else really can. Not for a moment his talk of reconnecting with her fooled her. Needless to say his attempt to get close to her, completely misguided and selfish, didn’t made things any better between them.
To this day, there’s a lot of bitterness between the two. Pindorama (fairly) resents brazil for all that he and his father caused and his failing to recognize his own flaws and mistakes and works on them. Today, they still mostly avoid each other. They do have their tender moments, sometimes, but Brazil has a lot of growing up as a person to do if he ever wants to fix their relationship.

SangCheng- Coming Home late
Prompt by OTP Prompts: Your OTP comes home after a very long drive. Person A is wide awake, but Person B is extremely exhausted and falls asleep in a very uncomfortable spot. Person A wants to carry them to bed, but there’s a problem: B is really tall and REALLY heavy, and A is very weak.
Notice: Setting takes place in modern times
Huisang had trouble falling asleep. He and A-Cheng had been a couple for a few years and ever since they moved in together, there had hardly been any time in which they did not fall asleep in each others arms. And Huisang had grown so used to it that he could not fall asleep as long his own person-pillow was not right next to him. He loved to place his head on his lovers chest and to listen to his regular hearbeat. It was like this soft melody that softly let him drift of to sleep.
But because of a work conference, A-Cheng had to leave the town and therefore his lover Huisang alone at home. He could not have accompanied him, seeing as he had to go to work himself. When Jiang Cheng told his boyfriend and roommate that he will be leaving the town for a few days, there was a lot of whining, fake tears and pouting. Way too dramatic for A-Cheng, he was only leaving for a few days after all! They were happy and content in their relationship. They were still in love and liked being in each other’s company. They had not been seperated like that since they got into a relationship. And Jiang Cheng had underestimated how much he would miss his soft-spoken and beautiful boyfriend. Eventhough they had called each other and face-called, he still missed him. It was not the same as being with each other. He missed talking in person to him, touching him and kissing him. He was truly a besotted fool in love.
Eventhough he could have stayed the night at the hotel, he decided to take the few hours trip home. He wanted to sleep tonight with A-Sang in his arms. To have him securely in his arms and to smell his flowery scent that always calmed his nerves. He had not slept the last days well. Once he finally arrived at their appartment, it was already 12 am. Huisang was most likely already asleep. And as soon as he entered their shared appartment, his assumption got confirmed. Everything was dark. No lights were on, not even the ones in their bedroom. Jiang Cheng took his suitcase and placed it in the hallway. He would take care of that tomorrow, he had a day off after all. Quietly, he went to the kitchen to get himself something to drink. He yawned. He was really tired. Just a glass of water and then he would go change his clothes and go to bed. Jiang Cheng sat on one of the chairs and drank a bit. His eyes were throbbing with the lack of sleep. He sighed. He was really tired ...
Huisang heard someone entering the door. At first, he thought it might be burglar and was rather scared. But then he heard that the door was opened with keys and he heard that something was put in the hallway. It could only be his boyfriend, A-Cheng! Huisang felt rather giddy. He had missed the other man so much! He waited in the dark of their bedroom. He wanted to surprise his boyfriend with hugs and lot of kisses! And he did not want to turn the lights on as to not him know that he was actually awake. He waited for a few minutes but no one entered the room. What was A-Cheng doing? He did not hear any other doors closing or opening, so he was not in the bathroom. Huisang decided to look for his boyfriend himself. He kicked the blanket away from his body and left the bedroom. He should have put on something on his naked feet, the floor was really cold!
When he entered the hallway he saw a suitcase. It was the one A-Cheng had gotten as a present from his sister. He saw some light coming from the kitchen, he smiled. He opened the door. “A-Cheng~”
And then he saw him. A-Cheng was sitting at their kitchen table, a glass of water right next to him, his head was laying on his arms. He was sleeping. Huisang smiled. His lover looked so peaceful. And exhausted. He must have been really tired to fall asleep in that position. He really wanted to let him sleep but it looked rather uncomfortable. And he did not want to wake him. Well, A-Cheng was one of the hardest people to wake in the world. So there was that. He would have to carry him or rather pull him to their bedroom. As he stood right next to Jiang Cheng, he caressed his lover’s face and pushed a strain of hair away from his face, his A-Cheng was a really handsome man. Huisang mentally prepared himself. It could not be that hard to carry his lover back to their bedroom. A-Cheng carried him all the time!
He put on arm over his shoulders tried to get him out of the chair. But there was something Huisang did not consider. Jiang Cheng was taller than him, had more muscles on him and was therefore heavier than Huisang. And Huisang was weak. So as a logical consequence, he could not carry Jiang Cheng’s weight and the two of them fall on the ground with a rather loud smack. Huisang fell on his back and his lover fell face first on his chest. Huisang moaned in pain and tears were collecting in his eyes. Now he was definitely hurt! There was no way that there would not be a giant purple bruise on his chest by tomorrow. He had only wanted to carry A-Cheng to their bed, nothing more! Why did the idiot have to be so heavy? All because of his stupid working out! Eventhough, Huisang liked the muscles and especially if A-Cheng manhandled him into certain positions...
“I...What,” muttured a sleep-drunken Jiang Cheng. One moment he was sleeping and the next he felt like an earthquake had happened. What was going on? Why was he on the floor? And why was his lover, A-Sang, beneath him? Did he miss something?
“W-What happened?”
“A-Cheng~” whined Huisang and tears were flowing out of his eyes. “You’re too heavy and now I am hurt!”
Jiang Cheng blinked a few times. Trying to make sense of the situation. There was his boyfriend, under him, whining, pouting and some tears were flowing. It clicked.
“You’re an idiot. Of course you wouldn’t be able to carry me. Why didn’t you wake me?”
Huisang sniffed. “You looked so tired. I thought I could carry you... Don’t be so mean to me, A-Cheng. I’m hurt~”
Jiang Cheng smiled in gratitude and sat up. He pulled his boyfriend with him up and wiped his tears away. “Does it hurt much?”
At his touch, Huisang closed his eyes and snuggled into the touch. “It only hurts so much because your head is so big and heavy.”
Jiang Cheng rolled with his eyes. He pulled Huisang into a quick kiss. “I am happy to be back, you baby.”
Huisang pouted. “I missed you. Eventhough all you do is being mean and teasing me.”
Jiang Cheng’s smile got broader. “Of course.”
He stood up and pulled his boyfriend with him. “C’mon, I will get some ointment and put it on you and then we will sleep. I am too tired but tomorrow I will show you how much I missed you.” And as to emphasize his statement, he pinched Huisang’s butt.
Huisang swatted at his arm and blushed. “A-Cheng~”
Jiang Cheng only laughed and put his arms around his lover and buried his face into his neck and inhaled the scent of the man he had missed the last couple of days.

Rhys doesn't think much of school. He got this far without school, and under Mystique's rules, school surely isn't going ri matter much anymore, right? But then these two giant siblings enter the school and now Rhys has to deal with said giant siblings taking an interests in school...and seemingly not knowing anything about anything.
Which is...ridiculous? Surely these kids should know how rain works and the shit they do in gym is ridiculous. Wulf cannot stand the way Rhys seems to hang around the Asgardian stables, using his powers in blatant disrespect. How could anyone unlock their Odin Force and yet not willingly serve the royal family? It sends a surge of annoyance through Wulf because they should be thankful for their powers, not for Rhys to do what he likes with them and to spend half of his time sitting around the stables and flirting widly.
Rhys on the other hand, thinks it's incredibly amusing to tease Wulf. The bigger man is always instant on doing the right thing and Rhys just wants to try and get him to have fun. After all, isn't it living up to his element to have fun? Plus, Rhys adores the horses and he demands to have a ride with Wulf on Ragnarok one of these days!
Enemies to lovers AU: Which one switches sides?
Its the wrong thing and agaisnt the rules of everything Wulf stands for, but one day he breaks into Hel and frees Rhys when his death comes. A different Valkyrie and taken his soul and even Edith cracks, making Wulf to swear an oath that he shall never involve her when he breaks into Hel and saves Rhys's soul.
He can never go back to Asgard and without the golden apples, Wulf will one day become a mortal man and age like everyone else. Its quite stressful, knowing that you are fated to becoming a mortal man and that you've truly lost everything. But Rhys now has a new lease on life and he's determined to make good use of it, as well as finally seeing the opportunity of having Wulf all to himself and helping him learn to enjoy life as a Midgardian.
Soulmate AU: Who is eager to meet their soulmate? Who absolutely does not want to meet their soulmate?
Wulf is originally thrilled. The idea of sharing a romance with his intended is incredible to him. A work of fate that only Freya could do. But when he finds out that his soulmate is Midgardian, Wulf is torn. He has been fated to a soulmate who is doomed to die long before he is and isn't that terrible? How can he willingly be in love and curse Rhys to such a thing?
Rhys, on the other hand, knows that there's some shit up with the kind Asgardian that always wants to help him or does nice things. But when Ragnarok let's it slip that Wulf is Rhys's destined other half and never thought to tell him? Oh boy, Wulf is in for it buddy.
Single parent AU: Which one is the single parent? (Alt. if they’re both single parents: Which one is open to starting a new relationship from the start? Which one is never planning on finding love again… Until they meet the other and are instantly smitten?)
Rhys has some troubles with his kid, he wasn't an easy child and that seems to have passed down. It's harder to care for a child when its even harder to find work as a mutant and single father. But Rhys is intent on doing fine. That is, before the ridiculously large man tries do being his goddamn horse into Rhys's workplace.
The weirdo is...charming. Laughs sweetly at the shitty jokes Rhys tells and seems far too genuine for Rhys to not feel bad about making fun of him internally. His name is Wulf and he always comes in to buy the most ridiculous things that Rhys isn't sure Wulf actually needs, or is just buying them to see him. His kid likes Wulf though and Rhys supposes that makes him alright, more so when Wulf tells such interesting stories to his child that even Rhys finds himself charmed by the silly man.
And then Wulf unwittingly calls Rhys a dilf brightly and that's the moment he falls in love with the dumbass.
Doctor AU: Which one is the longsuffering doctor? Which one is the patient?
Rhys is terrified about being in the doctor's again. He promised himself he would never go yet here he was, needing a checkup since he was having a fever and the treatment was for free...
But then he can never seem to get a ready time to go in due to the fact that the man before him needed a vaccine and the needles can't seem to pierce his skin while others seem to have old affects once they enter his bloodstream. They want to keep Wulf in overnight but Wulf is more concerned with chatting to Rhys and trying to help the smaller man feel comfortable, even if that gets him in trouble when he shatters a glass for another drink and a doctor yells. At least Rhys's already pale face seems to soften and smile.
Bodyguard AU: Who is the bodyguard? Who are they protecting? Which one is secretly pining for the other?
Rhys is used to rowdy fans, being a popular rockstar and all. But he isn't used to being assigned a bodyguard of all things! Wulfsige is big and polite but keeps breaking doors and shattering glasses while swearing in Old Norse under his breath. Rhys loves him. And definitely lusts after him after Wulf picks up a shitty fan by their collar and throws them across the room (using his powers to soften the blow).
Wulf is charmed by the way Rhys's eyes follow him, but he worries about the dangers the smaller man gets into and often will offer to help Rhys out more or to try and make reasons to stay with him more. Rhys is beautiful and his music makes Wulf's heart soar, especially when it almost feels like Rhys looks out for him within a crowd. But Midgardian culture is different and he shall not try to impose on Rhys and hurt the man he has sworn to protect for as long as he is needed. Rhys still cries over this.
Pirate AU: Who is the pirate? Who is the member of the royal family who did not sign up for this?
It's been over a hundred hears of sailing on water, since Wulf and Edith decided that the seas were filled with far too many dying souls and magic to be ignored. There's some legend or so about a "flying dutchman" but Wulf pays no attention to it since he isn't Dutch and he simply uses the air currents to walk and soar rather than flying.
But oh boy, Rhys? He grew up hearing tales of a dutchman and a woman who stained soil with blood. It's a dream to be free from humans and to enjoy the open air in such a free place. It sounds like a dream. So when he walks along the docks one night and finds out that the flying dutchman is actually a hot beefy blond who resembles a golden retriever?? Hell yeah Rhys is gonna try and enchant and woo Wulf onto the shp.
Childhood best friends AU: Which one was super obviously in love with the other the whole time? Who was oblivious until they were older?
Wulf remembers the learning trips down to Midgard. He looked ten but had the mental age of a five year old. It was disconcerting to see but Rhys? As if he was going to be put off by the large boy who spoke funny and would scare the crueler children away. Usually it would just be the two of them together and it had been for quite a few years. Wulf didn't understand why Rhys's family wouldn't approve of such a gifted child while Rhys loved stories of Wulf's home but would frown at hearing how old and tough Asgardian life is.
Then Wulf eventually had to return home and that was that for many years. Their lives carried on in their intended paths until Rhys was drawn to that fateful bar. Wulf is thrilled to be reunited with Rhys once more and delights on sharing all that has happned. Rhys meanwhile, is still struggling over the fact that Wulf is apparently real. Not imaginary. Also the fact that Rhys, an adult, is left gaping at the fact that said childhood best friend is ripped and big as an adult.
Oh boy. And touchy.

This... might be a bit of an undertaking. Oh boy. Ooooooh boy.
How I feel about this character
-takes a deep breath-
It is not an exaggeration to say that Qrow Branwen is one of my favourite characters in the history of media. He is smart and he is kind and he is soft and sweet. He was built up to be this big tough guy and he shows up and he’s a dork. The show spends so much time showing us that from the outside, Qrow is the classic renegade, bullshitting, womanizing tool. And then. And then. AND THEN.
Then they take it all and go “actually no. He’s a terrified, hopeless fool, who hates himself, who drinks from trauma, and who is so scared of losing the people he loves that he will destroy himself to save them”.
They take his alcoholism and they make it a story of trauma and self-harm. They take his womanizing and show us that he flirts because he can’t form permanent connections. They take his need to protect and show him getting hurt over and over and over again until he breaks trying to hold up the world.
Qrow Branwen is a broken, sad man, and it’s only at the end of V6 that he starts to come out of it. He’s lost everything he thought he ever had. And he’s given up. And then his niece stares him down and says “You are worthy. You are kind. You are important. And I love you. Now help me.” And he does.
He puts down the alcohol. He picks up his sword. He tries his best to help the girls. He uses everything he has and it works.
Qrow Branwen was absolutely shattered at the start of V6. And Ruby said “fuck that”, picked up his pieces, put them in her hood, and handed them back to him one at a time until he took the rest himself.
He deserves the world. He deserves to be loved. He deserves everything.
He’s so not what you’d expect and that’s part of what makes him amazing.
And like... Qrow’s fighting style is something so unique to his character as well? In V3, Qrow fights like Winter. He doesn’t fight like him. He’s drunk and belligerent and mocking and he fights like Winter.
When he goes up against Tyrian in V4? With others beyond that? He’s a dance battler. A ballet battler. He’s sweeping and majestic and incredibly poised and artful. He fights like Weiss sans Dust, and you know Winter would comment on that.
When he fights Winter in V3, he doesn’t just mimic her fighting style at the start. He mimics it the whole way through the fight. He is mocking her fighting style by proving he can fight her on even ground in a style he doesn’t use at all. And to me, that’s the biggest reason why he wins that fight. Because he was doing everything to put himself at a disadvantage.
And he still didn’t drop the scythe.
I mean, Qrow’s softness is something that continues on throughout the whole series. His eyes get softer in V4, with the new models. His voice shifts to softer (especially in V7 trailer, thank you Jason). He is brilliant and wonderful and I adore him.
Qrow could have been the macho, manly, womanizing, bullshit fuckery character of RWBY and nobody would have questioned it.
But he’s not.
He was, and is, Monty’s OC. Monty’s self-insert. And making him a hard working soft man who cares so much it hurts is precisely who Monty presented himself to be. And precisely who Qrow is.
And I think that’s the greatest tribute CRWBY has ever done to Monty. Getting Qrow right.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
James/Qrow is my OTP. My ultimate soft OTP and I am so SOFT for them. Established or not, pining or knowing, hate to love or friends to lovers. Every trope. Every situation. Every way is perfect.
James and Qrow give me such strong feelings that I’ve never had for a ship before and it kills me that they’ve only interacted in V3. V7 is bringing me such hope for them and I hope everything I thought about them (non-romantically, obvs) is true. And if they end up canon, fuck man, I’ll fly down to Austin and suck Kerry Shawcross’ dick myself.
But I don’t ship them for the canon. I ship them for the feels. Two older, broken men who put the world on the shoulders, loving each other when they can’t love themselves.
Kiersten White, one of my favourite authors, has a quote that I will apply to them forever.
“And I’d choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you.”
And I’m so glad I have that quote for these boys.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Qrow and Ruby’s relationship, as well as Qrow and Tai’s, is so important to me.
Qrow and Ruby’s relationship as gotten a lot of development over the series and that’s important to me. Ruby pulls Qrow out of the darkness. Qrow pulls Ruby forward. He gives her drive. She gives him a reason to try. The two have such a great back and forth and they love each other so much.
Like, Qrow’s poisoning, Ruby’s faith, Ruby’s defending, and then the girls defending Ruby against Qrow in V6 and him being SHOCKED because even if he’s angry and confused he trusts Ruby. and that trust breaks during the Apathy and he starts to think she’s failing because he’s failing. And if he trained her, she’s doomed to die.
But she’s not. She’s so much more than his broken, terrified expectations and it is because of that that she pulls him out of the darkness and gives him a life again. She breathes life back into Qrow and that’s so important.
They have such a beautiful, wonderful, familial relationship, and the fact that they aren’t blood related makes it so, so much more powerful, especially as someone who has a strong relationship with their step mother. I’m not blood related to her, but she’s mine. And Ruby has that same relationship with Qrow.
Chibi shows Qrow and Tai as an old married couple and I am inclined to agree. I think, when they don’t hate each other, they rely on each other. They’re all the other has left of their team. Tai has friends, so does Qrow, but I imagine they saw each other more. We know, from the show and the comics, that Qrow was around a lot when the girls were kids. It’s interesting to think of that dynamic.
How much does Tai know about Oz’s stuff? How much about Qrow’s?
I think he knows most things. About silver eyes. About the shapeshifting. About all of it. But he chose to walk away because he can’t save the world, but he can save his little part of it, and make a home for one of the people trying.
Tai isn’t a coward. Tai didn’t give up. Tai is helping the way he knows how. And if making a home for Qrow, broken and bastardly as he is, helps save the world, then he will leave the window open, even in the middle of winter.
And they’ve not interacted much in canon, but that’s such a feeling I get from the two of them. And I think it’s pretty accurate.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I am so fucking terrified V7 is gonna ship him with Winter. I don’t want it. It’s the most bullshit, heterosexual ship in the entire show and it goes against literally everything RWBY stands for in terms of romantic development.
But I think both VAs ship it.
Don’t do it CRWBY. Don’t do it.
Also according to the Youtube comments: fuck Vic McNuggets. Qrow’s new VA, Jason, is better in every conceivable way.
ALSO ALSO: He’s gay. He gives off such queer vibes and he’s gay. He flirts because it was a product of being voiced by McMayo.
Also also also: He’s not Ruby’s father can that part of fndm shut the fuck up. Literally even cRWBY hates it and you’re missing the entire point of the series and RT media as a whole.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
In a perfect world, James and Qrow would be married. But I’m a shipper, I know how to write ships that will never exist. I do it all the time.
I guess there’s a lot of things I want to see:
I want to see how he became a bird.
I want to see the first time his semblance hurt someone.
I want to see the time with Ruby when they were building her scythe and training her. She gets her weapon from Qrow. I want to know how they built it together.
I want to see his time at Signal as a teacher. I am dead certain Ozpin or Taiyang got him that job. Show me CRWBY.
I want the STRQ show, tbh. I wanna know everything.

I’m so torn on this one. Mmmmmm.

squip/rich's squip

So the thing about Rich’s Squip in the fandom is that like... outside the occasional character design making a brief appearance in larger prints, nobody really talks about them?
I mean. Okay, granted, I haven’t read enough fanfic yet (... God I really want to eventually, I’d just like a Handy Guide for Who Is And Isn’t An Anti and also I keep going “okay but x character would never be like that” even though that’s wroooong and I don’t seem to have that issue in visual media and....... you get the picture), but after... 2017? After the fandom’s first explosion died down, people rarely talked about R!S.
I think this was a direct reaction of the Anti movement finally making the solid change to fandom landscape it’d wanted to, unfortunately; this found a swift and sudden tidal wave of backlash to most Squip (primarily shipping) related anything, seemingly killing ALL Squip content that was not sufficiently “briefly used for boyfs or JakeRich angst” enough for a good long while.
Eventually, the growing rise of a sub-fandom around Squip thirsting and Squip redemptions (attempting to be ~untainted by gross shippers~, usually) started around the time badlydrawnBMC started to really pick up steam along with a few selfshippers, inspiring people to Squip-ship in an “acceptable manner”.
The problem is, none of this has affected Rich’s Squip--at least, not yet. The kinda people scared of (or that are) antis have “no good reason” to redeem Rich’s, since “she” (he/they at the beginning of BMC fanon, widely-used she now) did or caused stuff way more egregious, IE the fire, making Rich a bully, and stifling his bisexuality. As a result, there’s a very subtle, unspoken pressure not to really... use her much.
Jokes are... mostly okay, but there’s a huge preference for Kermit!Rich!Squip if you do.
Anyway.
From the little bit we hear of her in actual canon, Rich’s own words and her brief voice and stuff... I could see her being much colder, possibly meaner then Jeremy’s Squip, probably. They probably have a dom!bottom/sub!top abusive slave relationship. She makes Rich fuck her while mocking everything he does, and then seduces him and promises a little bit of love when he tries to refuse. He would be hopelessly devoted to her, desperate for her approval, and she’d string him step by step. By the time he realizes how well and truly fucked he is, it’s too late; the last stand happens, they fight in front of everyone, and it all goes up in smoke.

my thoughts on this will grow as time goes on but here are my initial thoughts
I FORGOT THAT YOU EXISTED: this is not a supercorp song bc i genuinely believe even in a platonic scenario that sc would ever reach a point of indifference. this song is just fun, god i love it
CRUEL SUMMER: oh? stn? how are you today? obviously stn starts in the summer, so we’re already cooking with that aspect, but this is just....so much. a song about wanting someone so bad and being like, in your head, what the fuck what the fuck why is this happening. the sound of it is so summery in the car like it just reminds me of that vibe it’s hot and you’re hot and i’m a mess. “i don’t want to keep secrets just to keep you / snuck in through the garden gate every night that summer just to seal my fate / i scream for whatever it’s worth / i love you ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard” oh it’s stn. she’s stn.

Okay, I actually had a NOTP before I had an OTP. That NOTP was SonAmy. Sonic has NEVER shown any real interest in Amy (besides in Sonic Boom or when he manipulates her) outside of just being friends. Hell, their relashionship is toxic enough as it is since she threatens him so much, which is not something you’d want your kids thinking is the norm. He’s scared of her, and she has an unhealthy, borderline stalkerish obsession. Also she’s twelve and he’s fifteen so there’s that.
I was a Sonic X fan, sue me. I shipped Tailsmo probably because it was pretty much canon (think he said “I love you” in the original), but also because I liked it. Also 4KIDS sucks for censoring so much that I literally had no idea how much I was missing not watching the Japanese version. Seriously.
The second thing I shipped kinda started just to spite SonAmy, which was Sonaze. Canon? What’s that? Come on, there was definitely something there with Sonic and Percival in The Black Knight. I used to make “art” of those two even though I sucked, and I read a lot of fanfics. First OTP that I obsessed over.
I didn’t want Amy being alone despite how much she annoyed me, so ShadAmy. There, problem solved. Maybe KnuxAmy, whatever. The one I truly shipped Knuckles with was Rouge, obviously. You can’t fool ten-year-old me, I knew it was at least one-sided. Come on.
Now to the one I was dreading. I previously stated I found out about the LGBT+ due to shit like this.
So, Sonadow.
I was always a sucker for those “enemies to friends to lovers” trope even then, but to be fair, I’m not sure it was so much I shipped it as much as I was fascinated by such a thing existing. A lot of people liked mocking “yaoi” and honestly I probably did too since I didn’t understand it, until I was exposed to it this way and saw it in another light. Like, what’s gross about two people or characters or whatever having feelings for each other? Plus yaoi and shounen-ai are different. It’s weird when you realize Shadow is technically over fifty years old, haha.
Did I ship it then? Eh, maybe. Do I ship it now? Fuck yeah I do, why wouldn’t I? I like their dynamic, also I had a crush on Shadow I like the whole “Shadow learning to love again and what love is after Maria” thing that people have going on for him, and I think it’s great. And Amy still annoys me so in her stupid face.
Sonic the Hedgehog was my first special interest, and the franchise will always remain close to my heart. I left the fandom several years ago but now I’m watching Sonic Boom so yeah. I’m back. Just be glad I didn’t mention the stupid OCs I used to make.
I’m done, there. If anyone else asks me anything to do with Sonic or shipping I will dye my hair PUKE GREEN just to spite you fuckers.
