*(not a pro. just for fun)

• natives with Ceres[1] (garners agriculture, nurture, nourishment, food etc.) in scorpio might feel guilty for what they deem as 'overnourishment' towards themselves instilled by their caregivers. their guardians could've told them to use small amounts of their lotions, eat less portions of food etc. so that they don't run out too quickly because money was always unstable. from what i've noticed, these natives might be picky eaters & are consistent with the type of food that they eat.

• Pholus[5154] (represents a small catalyst of decisions yielding in massive results) in transit conjunct Mercury in your natal chart is where you should be careful with your words. nonetheless, the results could be positive like posting on your socials & becoming viral.

Mercury also rules over vehicles. during this transit, i decided to take a short walk & ended up getting hit by a car lmao.

• Eros[433] (IMO represents both love & passion towards yourself & externally) square Mercury could indicate that you don't flirt or don't know how to without cringing. these natives could also have trouble with words of affirmation towards themselves & feel uncomfortable when others flirt with them especially if they don't like them.

• i checked Iris[7] (represents intuition) in celebrities charts who said they've always knew they were going to be well-known and all 3 (Jim Carrey, Oprah Winfrey, Lil Nas X) have leo degrees on their Iris. very cool observation if i do say so myself :D

asteroid pholus (5145) and tattoos: ☄

pholus, son of silenus and melia, was one of the only wise and docile centaurs in greek mythology (the other being chiron). he sheltered himself in a cave on mount pholoe and was a good friend of the hero hercules.

on one of hercules' journeys, he passed by this mountain and pholus welcomed him into his cave for a meal. but when he opens a wineskin for hercules during their feast, the wine's aroma escapes the cave and enrages all of the centaurs nearby.

hercules kills most of the centaurs with poison-tipped arrows before the others flee elsewhere. after the altercation, pholus leaves his cave to bury the bodies of the centaurs he once knew. but mistakenly, while examining the arrows in their bodies, he poisons himself by dropping one on his foot.

i personally associate pholus with tattooing because he pricks himself with a sharp object in his story. generally speaking, pholus has a strong connection with needles, arrows, sharp weapons, etc.

Asteroid asbolus 8405 please 😃

asbolus, the seer (asteroid 8405)

Asbolus was a centaur who used birds to create prophecies. To the poet Hesiod Asbolus was an exquisite augur who even warned Nessus about his fated death at the hands of Hercules. Most significant was his prophecy for the wedding of Lapithae. As illustrated in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Asbolus was the prophet who cried warnings to his brethren to not go to the wedding - they were all doomed to die if they went. Notably this is the event in which Pholus, Chiron, and Cyllarus all die. Asbolus himself was shot through with many arrows by Hercules - Absolus’s injuries are described as a kind of “crucifixion.” IN MY OPINION Asbolus in your chart can represent a) your connection to birds, b) where you receive signs regarding the future, c) where no one tends to listen to you, and/or d) where you are a martyr.

i encourage you to look into the aspects of asbolus along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of asbolus AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede asbolus!

The Centaurs, early harbingers of the new planets

In their day during the late 20th Century, the Centaur planetary bodies were the cutting edge of astrology. Located in elliptical orbits between Saturn and Uranus for the most part, these small icy planetoids were the enigmatic precursors to what later became the flood of new planet discoveries in the early 21st Century.

From the late 1970s to the end of the century, dozens and dozens of small new minor planetary bodies were discovered as observational technology grew more sophisticated. Many of these newly-discovered bodies are little more than over-grown snowballs of little interest to anyone but astronomers building a curriculum vitae.

But the Centaur bodies caught the eye of astrologers and rapidly became the cutting edge of what was then the latest astrological thinking.

The first of these small planetary bodies, Chiron, named after the head Centaur in Greek mythology, was discovered in 1977 and caused an immediate stir. Astronomers still debate its nature. It has a small tail like a comet, but rotation like an asteroid. Up until 1977 rotation and tails were supposed to be mutually exclusive characteristics. Astronomers are still debating the seeming contradiction.

Careful scrutiny of photographic plates from the late 19th Century revealed that this comet/asteroid had been photographed but unrecognized more than 100 years ago.

Sophisticated computer calculations of Chiron's highly elliptical orbit indicate that it would have had a close encounter with Saturn in the mid 8th Century CE, which prevents any accurate calculation of its orbit prior to that time. Today the planetoid, some 120-150 km in diameter, rotates around the Sun in a 49-51 year orbit which crosses the orbits of both Saturn and Uranus.

A small cottage industry sprang up amongst astrologers right after Chiron's discovery trying to understand the astrological significance of Chiron. The traditional teaching in astrology is that when a new planetary body is discovered, its archetype then becomes available to everyone in the world. The discovery of Chiron resulted in books, seminars, lectures, and discussions washing through the astrological community.

By the early 1990s astrologers had begun to understand some of Chiron's significance, and the better astrological software began to include Chiron for natal charts and transits. Chiron appears to rule wounding, healing, great quests in life, and even access to the higher metaphysical dimensions.

In ancient Greek mythology Chiron, half man and half horse, was also the only Centaur who was one of the gods, an immortal. So an archetype of being half animal, half human, and fully divine begins to emerge. Chiron's orbit, bridging Saturn (the known) and Uranus (the unseen transpersonal), suggesting Chiron as a bridge between the material and spiritual worlds.

Just as that was soaking in, Pholus was discovered in 1992. Named after another Centaur, Pholus was of a similar size as Chiron and had a similar elliptical orbit. By this point, astrologers were dusting off their long-forgotten books of Greek mythology. Good thing, too, because by the end of the decade more than 16 Centaur bodies had been discovered in the same neighbourhood as Chiron, all with elliptical orbits, and there may very likely be more discovered as astronomers warm up to the discovery challenge.

Greek mythology records several hundred Centaurs, so names will not be problematic for new discoveries. The Centaurs, minor figures at best in Greek mythology, are best remembered for drunkenness, rape, and pillage of the countryside.

But a handful were good guys, like Chiron, Pholus, and Asbolus (another newly discovered Centaur planetoid). The story of Pholus is the story of self-sacrifice for a greater good, and Asbolus was known as a great seer and counsellor. The Centaur, Nessus, the third Centaur planetoid discovered, was more typical of the Centaurs and was best known for lying and betrayal.

Yet the naming of the Centaur planetoids got a little more complicated at the recent turn of the millennium when one of them was named Chariklo, who was not a Centaur at all but was the woman who was Chiron's wife. And there's still many more discovered which are to be named.

The final understanding of this new dimension in astrology is not and certainly cannot be in yet. As new planets beyond the orbit of Pluto are discovered the meaning of the Centaurs will change.

There will be other changes in our understanding as other new planets are discovered. But the Centaurs will always remain as the early harbingers of bigger changes which later entered the world of astrology.

chiron, the wounded healer (asteroid 2060)

Chiron is the son of the titan Cronus and the oceanid Philyra. He was written as the only centaur that was humane (the others were viewed as savages - they drank too much and were very lustful). He also appeared more humanoid than his brethren (who were actually not created by Cronus and Philyra but by Ixion and Nephele) - his front legs were human while his back legs were hoofed like a horse’s (contrary to these images - i guess everyone avoids the abnormal (we are counting you, dali lol) in ancient art *eye roll*). He was an excellent teacher and healer. Chiron lived happily with his partner, Chariklo, and his four children. He taught many famous heroes: Asclepius (mentioned in my Apollo post as his son), Ajax, Achilles, Theseus, Jason, Perseus, etc. But it was Hercules that did him in… Chiron’s injury is the result of an event that takes place in another centaur’s story (Pholus). Chiron, who was living amongst the centaurs, went to see what the commotion was only to be hit by one of those poisonous arrows by mistake. Chiron went unnoticed in the chaos of that cave - while he did not die due to his immortality, he was in pain too so do much of anything. Hercules who discovered Chiron on his way out and asked for his help (*eye roll* he’s in pain, hercules, leave that poor centaur alone). Chiron generously gave up his immortality to end the pain but also in aid of freeing Prometheus. Chiron then was brought to Mount Olympus to be with the gods. Chiron is considered a burden or a source of suffering we are forced to endure our whole lives. But IN MY OPINION, in addition to that interpretation, it can also mean a) where you are considered the expert, b) where you may be viewed as humane/caring when you are the one in need of being cared for, and/or c) where you tend to be viewed as unique.

i encourage you to look into the aspects of chiron along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of chiron AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede chiron!
