had a dream that there was a Pokemon movie that followed three pokemon still in the cute stages of their evolution line who got separated from their trainer and ended up going on an adventure to find him again.

They were all new pokemon. One was a caterpillar called Braterpill who plays a lot of pranks on other pokemon and humans. The pokedex entry notes that getting into trouble helped it grow. One was a snake-like pokemon whose underbelly was made of staggered horizontal wheels which would alternate between rotating on the ground to push the snake forward and lifting up and rotating back into position. In that way it moved more like a slug than a snake. The last was some kind of corvid.

Because we followed their perspective in the movie, they spoke to each other, and humans would just not understand them when they talked. Some of their antics involved slingshotting an apricorn into the back of some guys head and then running away when he chased after them, and then later sneaking into a restaurant and discovering that same guy is a waiter. The waiter gets yelled at by the other staff for being "heartless" and not serving a bunch of cute baby pokemon that are sitting at a table all politely. Meanwhile the snake pokemon has self-seriously convinced itself, and therefore convinced the other two, that if they don't give the waiter something called "money" at the end they're going to get in trouble, unless they leave first. Their escape plan ruins the dinner of another table and they refuse to tip the waiter.

i love comparing pokédex entries for the same mon between different games bc almost all of them will be very brief, matter-of-fact, purely scientific without any first person pronouns or personal information about the author. and then you get to the legends arceus entries and laventon’s writing stuff like ‘ngl i still don’t understand this species’ ‘i tried petting this pokémon once and it bit me’ ‘i live in fear of this thing’ ‘man i miss galar. who said that’
