Sorry to share my smokin’ hot take here but killing Ben off in TROS during/after some heroic act in TROS and then being celebrated by the other characters after his conflict and bad/toxic behaviour would be horrible and hopeless because it would rob him of the chance to fully change and getting rewarded for it. Storytelling wise I feel like it would a cheap excuse for his villainous acts, like in many other movies/TV shows as well. And after being abused himself and almost going back to the light, he doesn’t quite deserve it either. If he can still be saved and live a good life, why not do it? His family would still welcome him, including Rey.

Fuck our Sociopolitical Culture for Ben’s sad fate!
Fuck the western capitalist “culture of death” dominating American pop culture discourse (and by extent Anglo-American pop culture as a whole) and their obsession with penance through death if a chance for redemption is given.
Characters like Kylo exist in Japanese(which isn’t left leaning by any measure) and Chinese media always get redeemed and given a chance to live. But here in America you’re either seen as a goody two shoes or you’re seen as literally Hitler and the only way you can get penance, if it’s offered at all, is by dying.

Some of you have never been groomed and abused by a psychopathic space wizard since you were in the womb, then been sent away by your parents when you were at your most vulnerable, then been betrayed and almost killed by your own uncle who was the only person with the power to protect you and therefore leaving you with no one to turn to but your abuser, and then spent years isolated in an extremist group being physically and mentally tortured by the man who has abused you literally your entire life, and it really shows.
Get some empathy, people. Star Wars is a space fairytale about redemption and compassion, not a cynical political drama for people who believe that no one can ever heal or change. Star Wars is not about punishment and Us vs Them dichotomies, and if you’re too judgmental and full of hatred to understand that, maybe you just aren’t emotionally mature enough for this children’s series and you need to work on that.

One thing I like about Sasha's redemption that some other notable so-called "redemptions" in fiction(*cough cough* Severus Snape *cough cough* Kylo Ren *cough cough* Billy Hargrove) lack, is how she's actively working to become a better person, make up for what she did, and help the people she wronged.
And yes, she was a horrible person, and a manipulative traitorous asshole who kidnapped people and took over villages/kingdoms, but she was still only a 13-year-old child, and thus I don’t think that she is irredeemable; and honestly, I’m not a fan of saying that kids/teens are “completely irredeemable”, even villainous ones
So, I’m honestly all for her getting a proper redemption, which she seems to be getting, instead of getting a lame “die to save the good guys and everyone says they’re redeemed” type of “redemption arc” or just remaining a villain
And I think that it honestly makes sense that all of the horrible shit that happened, combined with losing both of her best friends and being called out by one of them for being an asshole, could make her realize just how much she fucked up and how much of a bad person she was being.

As someone who has been a proud Reylo since 2015, I’m so proud of how far we’ve come
We went from being practically a “crack” ship, and people saying it will never happen, to actors, directors, and magazines acknowledging our existence, and being given such fantastic content and validation.
On December 20, we will prove all of the “antis” wrong and celebrate in the romance that we’ve been waiting so long to see come to fruition!
And no matter what anyone says, Reylos, keep on Reyloing!

Ben Solo: *has been constantly talking about being drawn to the light and unable to fully commit to the dark side, was driven to the dark side through grooming and abuse and betrayal, has already done everything Vader did to redeem himself and more before the last movie, is literally the son of two of the most iconic characters in all movie history in a series which core message is redemption and hope*
Antis: *sticking fingers in ears* Crylo Ren is a pure villain and there’s no sign he’ll be redeemed!!!

Alright, so back to Star Wars for a sec. For people who’ve seen my Finnrey art, lemme let you in on a little secret that’s not really a secret:
I used to be a R*ylo shipper. Am I proud of it? No, of course not. But I now know why I shipped it.
Simple: I was a new Star Wars fan back when TLJ first came out, and everyone was shipping R*ylo. Everyone was either sidelining Finn or shipping him with Rose or Poe (I didn’t even know about Finnrey at the time).
Since it was considered “common” to ship R*ylo I thought, “ah, what the hell. What harm could come out of it?”. Well, skip to present day, and I see all the shit R*ylos have done and I wonder how the hell did I ever ship this ship?
Guess it’s cause I took everything at face value like everyone else did. But, I’ve taken off the rose-tainted glasses and had some self awareness.
Now, I’m a proud Finnrey shipper (and Skysolo) and love Finn will all my heart. And Poe. And Rose. And Rey. And the original trio. And practically every character who got their stories sidelined or ruined at the expense of “Bendemption” and forced R*ylo.
((I also ship a bit of Kylux, but like, them being a villain couple, not like whatever the hell TLJ and TROS did to their characters))

Update on the leaks
It has come to my attention from discussing with various anonymous sources that these set of leaks that Jason Ward, BespinBulletin and JediPaxis were constructed with footage gathered from a source in editing. They very likely mixed personal speculation with what they know from marketing and the editing room footage to explain the scenes they are describing.
This can explain how JW was able to see the money shot.  It was a source in editing that showed him the image, and JW filled in the gaps with his own speculation and what marketing sources know of the final battle and JP most likely did the same.
Right now I have after discussing PMs with various people on reddit that know people that know the source or the source directly that the source originates from the editing panel. The editing panel doesn't have access to dialogue/audio and even full scenes so take it with a major grain of salt.

Forgiveness and the Sequel Trilogy Trio
It’s occurred to me that for all the stories I’ve read and written where Poe and Finn play prominent roles I’ve barely read and never written anything where Rey is a main character.  I don’t think I’ve even written a proper scene featuring her.  Part of this is definitely just that she never has any interaction with Hux in any SW canon that I know about, but another is her role in the story.  She’s not just Kylo Ren’s love interest; she’s the main hero of the trilogy, and the people who confuse the latter with the former aren’t making the point they think they are. But, the narrative also depends very heavily on her to make Kylo’s redemption arc palatable to the audience, far more than on Kylo Ren/Ben Solo himself. We’ll forgive him because Rey does, or so the assumption goes.
Rey is the only member of the trio who actually seems to believe a person shouldn’t be defined by the ways in which they’ve hurt others, so it’s possibly unfortunate for Hux that he never has any dealings with her.  Meanwhile, Kylo has no interaction with Poe or Finn after TFA.  In TLJ and TRoS, different heroes are paired off, in a manner of speaking, with different villains.  Hux has important scenes with Poe and Finn individually in TLJ and his most important scene in TRoS features both of them.  In TFA, Kylo force-tortures Poe and nearly kills Finn, but they never have to see him again.  They also never have an opportunity to voice their disapproval of all the forgiveness lavished on him. His wounding and healing by Rey, his redemption, and his death all happen without comment from Poe and Finn.
This all has the effect of making Kylo’s actions appear more forgivable than Hux’s, but it’s misleading.  That Kylo is met with bottomless grace and forgiveness from some people he’s hurt looses some of its significance when you realize that the only person he’s hurt who even says his name in TRoS without grace and compassion attached to it is Hux.

"Kylo Ren can't be redeemed, he's an evil asshole who killed Han Solo!"
May I remind you that Han Solo wasn't the best parent, but he loved his son. He was too late in finding out just how far Snoke's abuse and the conflict in Ben had torn him apart and turned him into the tortured young man before him, and he was too late to save him. But the second Ben drove that lightsaber through him and he knew he was dying, he forgave him, and hoped that some day he'd be able to forgive himself too.
Han's death was devastating, but don't you dare tell me that Han wouldn't want to see his son redeemed.

Reylo Week Day 2: Mythology!!
Made some more mood boards for Day to of Reylo Week!!! I can see a lot of Mythological relationships in Reylo, as a lot of you have seen too!
Tumblr media
This first moodboard might not be the most obvious which relationship it is, but it’s one that I don’t see a lot of people draw Reylo parallels to; Eros and Psyche! Eros being ordered to make Psyche fall in love with a beast but falling for her himself parallels Ben’s love for Rey despite Snoke and pretty much everyone around him telling him to hurt Rey. And Psyche going through trial after trial for Eros while Rey quite literally shipped herself to Ben, and fought for him until the end. Also, I think she’s going through a lot of trials to bring Ben back from the wbw but that’s beside the point.
Tumblr media
This one’s a bit more obvious, and definitely the most popular; Hades and Persephone! I think it’s such a good comparison and honestly I love it so much. They are the King and Queen of the force and I love it.
Tumblr media
And last, but not least; Orpheus and Eurydice! Man, this one gets me so hard. Before TROS, I always thought the Orpheus/Eurydice parallel was that Rey was leading Ben out of the darkness. Now, it’s Rey leading Ben out of the WBW 😭😭
Bonus Hadestown Orpheus/Eurydice+Reylo b/c I’m a Hadestown bitch ok
